Whoever wrote the script for season 5 of One on One needs to be sent to prison cuz honestly wtf was that?! It had the same energy as the last season of that ‘70s show with main actors gone and a couple we didn’t want to see together in the end. But damn, even that 70s show at least had an ending instead of a cliffhanger. I think it’s because they were expecting a season 6 but never got picked up. Either way that last season didn’t even feel like the same show at all.

Tbh I never liked the Breanna x Arnez pairing. First of all, she didn’t even like him like that until he started actually dating someone, and stopped obsessing over her - and it seemed to me (I mean, the show lowkey said this) that she really only loved his abs 🥴. And secondly (and somewhat pettily 😜), I watched a while after finishing Moesha, so it really isn’t felt like a bad copy of Moesha x Hakeem (a ship I actually liked, unlike the majority 😭).

And then in s5 (the dreaded season, even tho I lowkey didn’t hate it 🤷🏾‍♀️) their relationship really got even more toxic (honestly, I feel like s5 really revealed the toxicity of their relationship, possibly because they were taken out of a familiar place 🤔...but that could be giving the writers too much credit sksksksk)

Watching One on One with my sister, and I feel like once the show started the Breanna/Arnez thing in earnest (circa season 3) and, Breanna and Arnez hooked up in season 4, Spirit became the writer’s punching bag.

Like, most of these jokes about Spirit are just mean-spirited or downright spiteful.

the fact that the series finale of one on one had breanna in bed with d-mack and we don’t know if they had sex (headcanon is that they didn’t) but arnaz is running off with brandy (d mack’s sister)... i did not invest so much of my youth into arnaz and breanna only to have them break up bc brandy is hot and arnaz is stupid. spirit would have slapped them both upside the head made them realize they’re being stupid. this is why there shouldn’t have been any season without spirit. the end.

Without spirit in the middle & the other characters from the original- they really were just two cute people who liked to kiss.
