前回、ケツァルのプラットフォーム建築を開始を目指してGEN2マップへ行っ てTEK建材をする予定でしたが… 忘れていた事が有り、急遽スコーチドアースへ行ってケツァルコアトルのレ ベル上げをデスワーム狩りでする事にしました！ 今までプラットフォーム拠点で悩まされて来た根本的な悩みはステータスの 重量不足なんです。 時短レベル上げをしたとしても、まだ不足していて、今回少しでもレベル上 げをして重量ステータスを増やしたい…そんな気持ちでデスワーム狩りを実 施いたします！

My condoleances

I used to have a hyperfixation on this game too, and then its identity did a 180 between the vin diesel incident (ark2) and TAS.

I fully cut ties with it after all the contest bs occured and i've honestly been better since.

Honestly my last good memory of it was probably enjoying the release of Gen2 with people i'm not even friends with anymore. Nothing remains but an echo of a point in time that felt good.

Along with paleo stuff, doing ARK fan content was probably one of the biggest wastes of years of my life. At least you can make a fat character in Ascended though unlike MHWilds somehow.

People who don't think about video game music are insane to me, as someone who has seen Gareth Coker single-handedly make ARK into a game people actually want to play despite how fucking shit it is because a lot of the music is just That Good that it can put thick rose lenses over any buggy unbalanced ugly piece of shit gameplay in your memory.

Moment of appreciation for the studio wildcard environmental artists. They've really gone wild with the plant designs on the corrupted side of the map. The top of the meat flower trees looking like raw nutmeg is a nice touch. There is an attention to detail I appreciate. Things like plants having two slightly different models with one spreading spores, and how there are different biomes along river banks vs in the dry hills. I know some people are disappointed with a lack of biome variety in Genesis 2 vs the maps we’ve had in the past. I think given the vast size of this map they had to reduce the amount of assets for players to load. I still think its a very well done map aesthetically.

So about halfway through our progression through all 6 story maps, I made a post about all of my favorite tames from the first 3 maps. Decided to go ahead and do it again for the final 3 maps.

Viridian was my main mount for almost everything in Extinction. The map suits rock drakes really well as far as travel goes and Viridian was bred from my line of drakes that had 20 health, melee & stamina mutations. This made him perfect for doing OSDs and element veins, able to withstand waves and waves of corrupted creatures. I’ve also used him for a lot of Genesis 2 missions.

Vesta was one of my main go to tames for doing Genesis 1 missions. Running missions with packs of allos made bringing down brutes super easy.

I’ve always loved water tames in Ark but never really used them all too much on most other maps, but living in the ocean biome on Genesis 1 really changed that. Both Varuna and Tiamat became one of my most used tames for all of the ocean biome missions and the Moeder boss fight. Plus, look at those x-megalodon patterns, who could resist those (clearly not me, since I made two different colored sharks).

Everyone needs a weight bird and Lumi was mine for Genesis 1. We left all of our tames and gear behind for Genesis 1 (because its a simulation, so we thought we’d kind of head canon that we couldn’t bring anything with us but could bring things out), so my previous weight argy Solona was left behind on the Island. X-argies are beautiful, so I’ve been using her on Genesis 2 as well.

I spent many, many months on the cluster breeding up rexes for boss fights. So even though I’ve bred up many of them for our armies, I didn’t really take the time to breed a personal rex until I finished the stat line. When I finally finished up on Genesis 1, I bred up Kotallo here to be my personal rex. I had been playing through Horizon Forbidden West when he was bred, so had to name him after one of my favorite characters on there.

Prior to Gen2, I used my ptera Valya to get around fast. While I still love pteras, the astrodelphis is the definitely the go to mount for speed on Gen2. Quasar is my go to mount for drop/note hunting and just general travel on Gen2.

It took me til Gen2 to realize I’ve been sleeping on just how good mantis are. So me being me, bred some up for colors and to bump up the weight and melee stats. And since we’re mostly mining asteroids for resources in Gen2, I named mine Eros.

It’ll be hard to say goodbye to my most loved tames but I’m excited for a new start on our next Ark adventure.

Anyway all i’m gonna say is ARK’s lore has genuinly good queer romance in it meanwhile JW literally tried to introduce a lesbian character by having her say she’d fuck Chris Pratt is she wasn’t.

ARK is not a good game and yet somehow it’s one of the most decent piece of big “dinosaur” media out there because it treats women, people of color, and queer people like human beings, and has a dev team that doesn’t include pedophiles and scammers. That’s how low the bar is.

And then again, Gen2, unlike the entirety of the JW franchise, actually has character chemestry and feelings in it.

i think its canon that Isabelle used schematics from the bases on the Ark to modify their armor up to Mk VI gen1, so they will probably be like “hey guys we have the newest armor just like you!” while wearing this cobbled together IV/VI hybrid and blue team in their gen2 armor just like “....oooh yikes what are you wearing???”

It will be so weird if/when Red Team reunites with the rest of the Spartan forces because they skipped most of the covenant war, and all 3 of them are only in their 20s when not counting time spent in cryo

So like they meet up with Blue Team and ask where the rest of the Spartans are, and John’s just like… yeah this is basically it. Also Reach is glassed and Halsey’s in prison. Welcome home!
