La Universidad Autónoma de Santo Dominga celebra 485 años de su fundación

El 28 de octubre de 1538 nació en el Convento de los Dominicos en la ciudad de Santo Domingo, capital de la Republica Dominicana, la primera universidad de América, hoy Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. Por este motivo, autoridades académicas y administrativas, así como también una representación de estudiantes y demás integrantes de la alta casa de estudios, encabezada por su rector Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, se reunieron en la Iglesia del Convento de los Dominicos en la Zona Colonial para celebrar una eucaristía en acción de gracias por los 485 años de la fundación de la universidad.

Previo a la eucaristía, el rector acompañado de los decanos de la Facultad de Humanidades y de Ciencias Jurídicas y Políticas, sostuvieron un encuentro con el prior del convento fray José Alberto Hidalgo Alarcón y otros miembros de la comunidad, con el objetivo de establecer posibles proyectos entre la comunidad de frailes del convento y la universidad. En este contexto, también se revisó el acuerdo que se realizó en su día entre los frailes del vicariato y la alta casa de estudios, específicamente la Cátedra Antón de Montesinos.

La eucaristía estuvo presidida por fray Juan Manuel Febles, acompañado de fray Aridio Castro Tejada, quien tuvo a su cargo la homilía, durante la cual resaltó la importancia para el hombre y mujer de hoy de mantener un diálogo entre ciencia, razón y fe. Fray Aridio agradeció a las actuales autoridades de la universidad, en nombre de la comunidad de frailes, por retomar este espacio a los que la anterior administración presto poca atención.

Felicidades a todos los integrantes de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo, primada de América, en el 485 aniversario de su fundación.

Early life

Saldana was born in Passaic, New Jersey. Her father, Aridio Saldaña, was Dominican, while her mother, Asalia Nazario, is Puerto Rican. Saldana also has Lebanese and Haitian roots. With regard to her racial identity, Saldana stated, "There's no one way to be black. I'm black the way I know how to be." She spent the majority of her early childhood growing up in Jackson Heights, New York. She was raised bilingual, speaking English and Spanish. She has two sisters, named Cisely and Mariel. Their father died in a car crash when Zoe was 9 years old, and their mother subsequently moved with the children to the Dominican Republic.

Saldana discovered her love of dance in the Dominican Republic and enrolled in the ECOS Espacio de Danza Academy; she studied various forms of dance but describes ballet as her first passion. Beginnings

Saldana was still a member of Faces when she gained exposure in an episode of Law & Order (titled "Merger") which first aired in 1999. Saldana's first film role was in Center Stage (2000), directed by Nicholas Hytner, about a group of young dancers from various backgrounds who enroll at the fictitious American Ballet Academy in New York City. She left school after Center Stage, subsequently appearing in the Britney Spears vehicle Crossroads (2002). The film was met with negative reviews from critics, but became somewhat of a box office success. The same year Saldana started in the comedy-drama Drumline (2002), alongside Nick Cannon, which was met with generally favorable reviews.

In Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), she played Anamaria, a female pirate who signs up to join Will Turner and Mr. Gibbs for a chance to confront Jack Sparrow for stealing her ship. Puerto Plata: Bajo la intención de poseer datos concretos que permitan identificar una inversión real, con miras a la remodelación y adecuación del Estadio José Briceño; llegó a esta ciudad del Atlántico, la comisión de técnicos que realizarán el levantamiento de lugar a dicha intalación deportiva. La comisión de ocho personas encabezada por el Ing. Garibaldi Bautista y el Lic. Juan Mercado, fue recibida por el Lic. Sixto Peralta presidente de la Cámara de Comercio y Producción de esta ciudad, el presidente de la Asociación de Hoteles y Restaurante de la Zona Norte (ASHONORTE) el Dr. José Natalio Redondo, el Ing. Guillermo Pérez, el Periodista Aridio Perdomo, el Vicepresidente de Tiburones del Norte, Ramón González y Manuel Frías representante de Fedobe en esta ciudad. El recorrido por la comisión evaluadora estuvo a cargo del Administrador del Estadio el señor Felipe Serrata, quien facilito la observación de todas las áreas de la intalación para su observación y toma de datos. "Da un trabajo interesante la intalación deportiva aquí en Puerto Plata. Una buena intalación que tiene un buen tiempo sin el cuidado corresponde, pero puede hacerse un trabajo interesante. El espacio físico interno y externo que hay, puede con buena intención que entiendo que es lo que hay, se pueda hacer un trabajo que cumpla con todos los requerimientos técnicos que solicita MLB, para que se pueda desarrollar el Béisbol de Verano como el de Invierno", comentó el Ing. Bautista luego de la inspección realizada por el equipo técnico que le acompaño. Por su parte el presidente de ASHONORTE, el Dr. Redondo Galán, enfatizó en la gran importancia de este deporte para los turistas que visitan esta ciudad y para los Tour Operadores que tendrán a su disposición no solo está provincia como un destino de Sol, Playa y Arena, si no que también, tendrán el gran atractivo que es el Béisbol Nacional en Verano e Invierno para los futuros visitantes.
