Bug buds!!!!! I see you’ve got a Spinarak in your profile pic, but did you know about the web-weaving contests they’ve got? They’ve got contests for speed-weaving, art weaving, and the strongest web!! 💪 They’ve even got separate Spinarak and Ariados divisions! Not to even start on the Ariados/Spidops/Galvantula rivalry!! Basically, what I’m saying is that you’ve got a super cool fav!!!!
@pkmnathlete

Ariadoa from Cautious Hero is personally not one of my top favorite characters, but she's not bad. It took a lot of time and effort to finish her minimalist wallpaper, but it was worth it. And I consider this wallpaper one of the best I have made.
Character: Ariadoa (from Cautious Hero: The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious)

Cautious Hero – 11 – Seiya the Unready
Tumblr media
This episode comes a long way from its comedic beginning, in which Rista leads Eruru and Mash on a shopping trip, she ends up sniping with a clothier about topless and bottomless swimsuits, then gets the idea to arrange an evening that will end with scoring with Seiya.
Things take a distinct turn when, upon returning to the palace at sundown, Seiya is nowhere to be found. No matter what reasons the three can come up with for his absence, and no longer how long they wait, Seiya…just doesn’t show up.
Tumblr media
On the verge of panic, Rista visits Ishtar for guidance, where a tearful Ariadoa leads her, Eruru and Mash to a realm where time stands still. There, Ishtar informs them that Seiya has already headed to the Demon Lord to defeat him himself.
The reason Seiya has been so cold and distant to the three of them is that he actually cares for their well-being to the point he doesn’t want to put them in harm’s way. Since the Demon Lord now has a weapon that can destroy Rista’s soul, Seiya felt it best to keep her away from the battle.
Rista also wasn’t aware due to his Fake Out skill, but Seiya has been totally maxed out since the fight with the Dragons, and has been adding skills like Valkyrie’s Gate of Valhalla to make up for his stagnation (it wasn’t sex after all).
Tumblr media
There’s more: Aria is in tears because in a different world 100 years ago, Seiya was the Hero she summoned, and he was far less cautious, adopting the catchphrase “Gonna be okay. Something will work out.” The healer of their party was Tiana, a princess from that world…who happens to have the same eyes, face, and voice as Ristarte.
Things wouldn’t work out for Seiya back then, as his party members were eaten one by one by the Demon Lord, whom he’d insufficiently researched. Tiana meets a particularly grisly doom, as it’s revealed she was with child when the Demon Lord ate her.
Finally, Rista learns that she was Tiana, before she was reborn as a goddess. Neither she nor Seiya retained memories of knowing or fighting each other, but fate brought them back together, and Seiya, knowing he was summoned before and failed, became far more cautious, and hence unwilling to let anyone else die this time around.
Tumblr media
It’s a lot for Rista to take in, and Toyosaki Aki does as good a job as she can reacting to it all, but this was an awful lot of exposition, rather inelegantly presented in one big plot-bomb. Regardless, the shift from goofy comedy to serious drama was surprisingly effective, and all the information we learned really does enrich what had initially seemed to be more of a skin deep relationship between Rista and Seiya.
Their history, even if there was no overt memory of it, explains not only why Rista and Seiya are a pair again, but why she’s so devoted, attracted, and at times obsessed with him. One could almost call them soul mates. The issue is, she now knows the truth of their past and he doesn’t, and his overarching mission to defeat the Demon Lord and save Gaeabrande overrides all other considerations.
Of course, Rista isn’t going to let Seiya have his way. She insists on joining up with him, and damn the consequences. Ishtar opens a portal for her, and Eruru and Mash announce they’re coming with her out of solidarity—Seiya saved them, after all. Hopefully, things are gonna be okay, and something will work out.

***Spoiler Review***
What’s up everyone! Welcome to Beyond The Panel. Coming at you today with talk about Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious! You heard that right! This wasn’t me trying to be clever with the title of this review. That is actually the title of this anime series and one hell of a mouthful. So for the rest of this review I will simply refer to this one as Cautious Hero. That said, this one jumped tot he top of my list because once more I stumbled upon a story which was much more than what it looked like on the surface. You would think this is another isekai, but it does a lot to fight the standard expectation for them.
Cautious Hero centers around one Ristarte, a novice goddess who is placed in charge of saving the world of Gaeabrande from a Demon Lord by summoning a human hero. An S-class world, Gaeabrande is extremely dangerous, so Ristarte is careful to select a hero who will be able to prevail against the enemies. She settles on Seiya Ryuguin, whose stats are many times greater than any other contender. Unfortunately, upon summoning him, Ristarte finds to her dismay that he is ridiculously cautious of everything, including her!
#gallery-0-9 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-9 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-9 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-9 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
The plot for Cautious Hero was a solid one. It followed the standard guideline of the hero being summoned to take down the big bad of a specific world. This I didn’t have a problem with, though as I said above, it is what a series like this does differently which makes the biggest difference. To that degree they nailed creating a distinction for Cautious Hero because the rules were much more unique. First off, it’s not too often that when it’s higher beings who summon the hero, you get to interact with where they come from. It didn’t hurt either that we intimately got to know Ristarte, explore the Divine realm which she came from, and be introduced to some of the other beings who exist alongside her. In the process, this also took a lot of the guess work out of the job which both Ristarte and Seiya had to get done. After that, they made certain that it was understood that this is not one f those things where you are dropped into a game world. Don’t let all the stats and stuff fool you. For these characters, these are real worlds and people they are saving.
When it came to Ristarte, it did take some getting used to her at first. Initially the first impression you got from her is that she was another Goddess who finds herself in over her head and finds that she has little control over the mission. These things were true, but we had to see that there was more to her than that. In time we did because they wasted no opportunity to show that despite wanting to get the job done so she can rise in the ranks, this experience was not one where you could afford the regret of not saving as many lives as you can. She was given plenty of chances to act like a real Goddess, and credit where it is due since there are some series out there where they will dodge that completely. With that said, let none of this I said take away from the humor that Ristarte gave us. She was a riot from start to finish. When an anime series can actually make me laugh, I feel like they are doing something right. Ristarte did that for me through every struggle she was put through dealing with a hero who was much more than she could handle.
#gallery-0-10 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-10 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-10 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
As for Seiya, he breaks from the mold of most characters quite easily. As the title of the series suggests, this guy is extremely cautious in everything he does. I mean, when was the last time you really had the chance to invest in a character who is this paranoid of everyone and everything around him? This was a first for me and he did not disappoint representing that kind of individual. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of main characters out there who end up not trusting a lot about the world they are summoned to, but the level of paranoia a character like Seiya suffers from was shocking. He also turned out to be pretty overpowered, but they never really allowed this to be a thing. It was always overpowered because of being over-prepared. The two really went hand in hand all the way to the end where you knew that it was going to mean the least. It was one thing if this was a character who just walked over every enemy he came across, but they took things to an extreme. It was how he used that power which further made him break from the mold too. For example, how he dealt with an enemy after his win. Normally that would just be it, but no! Seiya makes sure there is a zero percent chance that this could ever happen, and ends up going too far in the process. With that said, what was best about his development was seeing how a guy like this becomes a hero. They made sure that at a point we were given a reason to care about his success as a hero. He was given real stakes, and he was given obstacles which challenged his need to always be prepared. Real heroes sometimes don’t think before they spring into action. Seiya had to grow and find that version of himself who saw that evil waits for no one to get ready for it.
There was a huge moment of revelation for both Ristarte and Seiya that turned out beautiful towards the end. It was clever that they had us so focused on what was so incompatible about these two, that we were unable to see what was really right in front of us. There was a reason for Seiya’s paranoia that we never allowed ourselves to really question. There was a reason for Ristarte’s attraction to Seiya that seemed to hit too easily. Now at the same time what almost broke me was how heartbreaking this series got towards the end. I was not at all prepared for them to hit me the way they did as things became serious. I mean taking on the Demon King at the end was never going to be that easy, but when that moment came? The expectation was not there that you would have found yourself caring so much about the well-being of these characters, or the attachment they could have gained to one another.
Aside from those two, the rest of the cast of characters did manage to get some room to shine here and there. Maybe not as much as you would like, thought the effort was put in to make sure that you weren’t feeling as though those like Mash, Elulu, or Ariadoa were lacking relevance to justify their presence. There was growth, there was depth given to them over time, and they had their role to play when it mattered most. At first I was a bit reserved about the need for anyone else, aside from the Gods. When you have an overpowered hero like Seiya, who needs anyone else? I was happy that this feeling was allowed to fade over time. Particularly when it came to Mash and Elulu. Not only did they offer something to the team, they helped crack the exterior which keeps most people at arm’s length from someone paranoid. As for the Gods, there was nothing but appreciation for the interactions with them. They could have been the cliche depiction of them. Cold, uncaring, and endlessly needing you to know they are Gods. However, they were different for the fact that most that we are introduced to did something which helped Seiya continue getting to his desired level of preparedness.
The animation for Cautious Hero took me back. At first you would say that thing were fairly standard, but when things kicked off? I was impressed with the quality of the animation, the colors, and the overall effects. It wasn’t hard to see what grabbed me either because White Fox is the same animation studio which produced series I loved such as Akame ga Kill!, Goblin Slayer and Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. It also showed through the way that these characters expressed themseleves. You don’t know how many times I found myself ready to bust out laughing between the way that Ristarte was drawn going mad because of Seiya’s shenanigans, or the level of nonchalant you get from Seiya himself. They really knew how to walk a line to make sure that the story wasn’t either too serious or too goofy.
So at the end of the day, Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious is a series to get around to if you want a different twist on isekai. Cautious Hero shakes things up and might actually leave you wanting more. I know it did for me. I would call that a big accomplishment since you could say that this one gives you a definitive ending.

Stars Align 2 - 3 | BnHA 65 - 66 | Iruma-kun 3 - 4 | Shinchou Yuusha 3 | Dr Stone 16 | No Guns Life 3
Stars Align 2
The first episode I saw at the anime club, so I’ve skipped straight to ep 2 for the coverage.
Hmm? I thought this would cut to the OP…it didn’t.
Oh, poor Maki! He has a slap mark on his face!
Why is it uniforms are so gendered anyway? Not just sports ones. (It might be because I’m so used to wearing other people’s hand me downs, regardless of their gender, but…yeah.)
The real tennis-playing dude is Kei Nishikori…LOL.
That’s the 3rd Ishigami for this season, methinks. (The others hail from Dr Stone.)
Come to think of it, the most I’ve ever done in one shot is 10 laps of a court (and that was with lots of practice). 20 would be torture…
The animation…where it goes black and white…that’s awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee, y’know???
I like how Maki’s just splat on the ground without his hands to support him.
Windows tablet with stand. I’ve seen those in stores and catalogues before…they should run Windows 7 at the bare minimum, 8 or 10 if they’re newer.
Maki’s top says “continue” on it. It’s a good shirt for a boy that really does continue, despite his hardships.
I-Is Maki’s mother having an affair…? With Shou? Or is Shou a good friend of hers who happens to be male?
The way Toma wears his jacket…it reminds me of Chuuya (BSD). Pretty badass for a middle school kid, don’tcha think?
Kenkou = health, so a squishy ball is a health ball…makes sense. It’s good for the circulation and all that.
When Toma started explaining the grips…I realised I’d fallen into what I just called the Tsuritama trap…that is, when I watch a show for entertainment and end up learning about skills I’ll never need in the process.
Both boys are righthanded, I noticed.
Didn’t notice at first, but Toma put the ball in his pocket.
Is it just me or is there CGI in this show…? (That’s a feeling I’ve had since ep 1, but haven’t been able to confirm since it’s so well integrated.)
Hmm…I heard there was plagiarism going around with this show’s choreography…I didn’t see the Chika dance in context, so I wouldn’t know if it was copied from there. Still, it’s interesting how the guy on the left (if there is one) generally does better than the one on the right. Some of them just give up in the end, LOL.
Hmm…Hoshiai no Sora means “The Sky where Stars Line Up” or something of the sort…hence, “Stars Align”.
“Even in an ever-changing world, the starlit sky will not change.” – That’s the words that sometimes accompany the title.
BnHA 65
Yeah, how are the League any different to the yakuza anyway?
The interesting thing is that Deku also has “power he can’t control”, but we see more of that narrative.
I love how Mic’s words were put into the visuals too, culminating in the “HA!”.
Okay, so Togata’s pun is that he’ll ittemirio, a pun on his name (obviously) and ittemiro (let’s go see). The English says I Togata see, which keeps his name in there and keeps the level of cheesiness to boot! Good job subbers! (By the way, that pun’s not in the manga.)
I already know what happens in this arc (thank you, free Viz chapters!), so now I have this sinking feeling when it comes to talking about Nighteye…
Apparently Bubble Girl was a winning design from a competition. Sorta like how Horikoshi appeared in One Piece one time and that, you could say, was the start of his career in print (so it’s a legacy in a sense).
Iruma-kun 3
Oh hey, I just realised Asmodeus’s nails are bright red…that’s kinda cute, actually. (In that “boys are hot” kinda “cute” sense, people.)
I have no idea what the lyrics to Clara’s song are meant to be in Japanese…not that I could track down whatever the heck she’s singing anyway.
Okay, so “play house” appears to be mamagoto (literally “mother’s thing[s]” (in a metaphorical sense, playing house is replicating mothers’ chores, so…yeah, mothers’ things), but it’s got the character for “demon” twice instead of what it should have. Hence “murder house”.
Hey, couldn’t you at least make Azz-Azz (as you call him) your husband?(!) (small LOL)
Demonathon = marathon, but with the character for “demon”. That’s actually straightforward in both languages…for once.
The alarm clock is a cute bird with horns!!! So cute!!!
I feel sorry for Opera. Which reminds me, why would Sullivan need a butler if he was living alone?
Whoa! Iruma actually refused before Clara said “please”! He’s growing a spine! So early…(whispers “My boy is growing up so fast…” as a joke)
Clara’s nails are a bright pink…a few shades off from Asmodeus’s red, but still really bright.
*vending machine appears* - Now that’s what I call “getting Yocchan some cold drinks”!
Azz isn’t dressed in white, he’s in pink! Dang colour palette, going against what Clara says!
I just realised Asmodeus wears two jackets…or is that a jacket and a long shirt?
There’s no pun in that segment title…it’s just “Akuma no Otomodachi”.
Poor Opera…it looks like he’s wearing two pairs of pants…or maybe that’s his shirt? Or his boxers? Who knows?...Actually, when I think about it, that might just be his shirt. Sorry, Opera.
Wait…so if most of the demons fly to school, why do Asmodeus, Clara and Iruma walk…? (Well, Iruma can’t fly, but the other two might be able to…) Update: We do kind of address this in the next ep, but that doesn’t answer why Clara hasn’t shown she can fly in that ep.
Oh, if it isn’t Sna-er, Kalego…(LOL) But seriously, Kalego’s hairdo is actually kinda nice for a guy. Then again, I’m the one who likes dudes with long hair, so…eh. I can take it or leave it.
Did Kalego never meet Clara…?
Eggie-sensei…no kidding, that’s what she says. It’s from the –ego in “Kalego”, of course. (But I have no idea if “Azz-Azz” is what Clara actually says for Asmodeus…) Similarly, the school store guy is called Kamukamu-san, so it’s literally “Comecome”...as in “come and buy from me”. Update: Yes, Azz-Azz is what she calls him.
There aren’t a lot of girls in that crowd, Eggie-sensei and Clara…
Eggie-sensei really is shaped like an egg! So fluffy! I wanna plushie of him in that form!
Wait, the sticker costs 333 bills? Iruma’s gonna have to pay for it later…Update: 2 stickers = 666 bills.
“Pay me.” – LOLLLLLLLLLLL! I’m so sorry, Fluffy Snape, but you were hilarious in that scene!!!
Demons don’t even have the concept of “friends”…? That’s…cute! Way too cute!
The mochi Clara refers to is because tomodachi is the word for friend (it has “mochi” in it, see?).
There’s Sullivan’s face on his stamp, LOL.
See? Asmodeus does have black wings like the demons you see in all those morning shots of this show!!!
Dr Stone 16
Byakuya (Senku’s dad)…his face keeps getting censored, even though it’s right there on the spinoff promo material…! *points to the spinoff page on Viz*
The piano music in this scene is nice…I heard the OST is on Spotify too, so I’ll chase it up later.
“Senku, the science guy” doesn’t have as much of a ring to it as Bill Nye does.
Taiju’s just got this proud face, like he didn’t really know what he was doing but he claimed the credit anyway…the big oaf. (LOL)
There’s a banana on Senku’s phone, LOL.
Hmm…where’s Senku’s mum? Did he ever have one?
Shamil’s face looks like Tsukasa’s so much, it almost unnerves me…
[TMS Football Stadium] - TMS is responsible for this anime adaption, I’m pretty sure…LOL.
A Byakuya reboot just started in manga form. I wonder if the Dr Stone anime will cover any of it…?
BnHA 66
Notably, “hero work studies” = hero internships. Those two translations seem to be interchangeable.
Normally, the end of the phrase would be “Boy Meets Girl”, right? There’s an important girl in this arc, y’know?
The contract is kind of hard to read, but I did make out the word “Nighteye” in katakana.
Technically, Midoriya should be in possession of a funny bone - the humerus, y’know??? (<- comically missing the point)
Mirio kinda reminds me of Araki (Area no Kishi), for some reason…it must be because they both like comedy. Then again, Midoriya at the moment is reminding me of Bakugo, because of all the mouth shapes being similar…
This is interesting. In the manga, the scene pointing out Ochako and Tsuyu weren’t going to be at their original internship places wasn’t at the dorms.
Ooh! They’re even foreshadowing Hawks, which wasn’t even in the manga at this stage!!
I do believe this “Hado and Amajiki talking to the students who’ll be relevant to this arc” is also anime-original. Todoroki’s joke was definitely AO (anime original).
Shinchou Yuusha 3
…can we not with the boob jokes??? Rista doesn’t have a flat board, people. Update: She also acknowledges this…we don’t know Aria’s size, but Rista is a D cup.
Oooh, oooooooooooh! I spy a ponytail boy in the back there and me likey! (I guess I’m still feeling a bit bummed out because I attended a wedding yesterday and ended up crushing on a cousin’s younger brother-in-law – precisely because he had long hair, but then he put it up into a man bun and I went, “Nope, I can’t have him,” not to mention he’s married already. Plus the Area no Kishi episode I found today – ep. 30 – had a kinda chubby Araki, so I noped out of it and as a result, I need me some bishonen to appease the eyes. Good thing Seiya does the trick.)
Marth, eh? *thinks about the blogger* Then again, there’s my reaction when it comes to Ariadoa…
Oh, this is like a PreCure dance ED. I see…then it turns out to be Rista’s figure alarm. The logic checks out.
Iruma-kun 4
Seriously, Azz doesn’t sound like he should be Iruma’s age…but that’s part of the joke, I guess. *gets pelted with tomatoes for revealing said joke*
So “The Misfit Class” is technically the “Problem Child Class” (Mondaiji Kurasu), but the alternative reading given to mondaiji says “Abnormal”.
It seems “devi” is an alternative way to say “very” in this show, hence the ED being “Debikyu” (Devi Cute).
I…think these demon ranks may actually be Phonecian letters (which I learnt about from Star Driver)…
That “thinking reed” business I knew from somewhere, but…turns out it’s just a person called Blaise Pascal.
A “heugh”? Wassat? (It just sounds like some noise you’d make when you barf…) Okay, I’m joking, here’s the real meaning: “a steep crag or cliff” or “a ravine or glen with overhanging sides.”
Clara, stop fiddling with Sabrock’s tail…!
Oh, demon birds are cute! Like regular sparrows, only with a different colour scheme! The demonitors are cute too!
So many cute birds~. I’m so spoilt~!
Hmm…if humans cause demons to heal…no wonder they’re delicacies.
Hmm…I suspected this episode would end with a cliffhanger. The plotline was running far too long for just 23 mins.
Stars Align 3
Geesh, Toma’s got a huge bag…Update: (They all have huge bags, what are you saying???)
Lemme guess – I know nothing about tennis, but the best tennis doubles need good communication. I learnt that sort of thing from the Amazing Race, to be real with you.
Come to think of it…it’s always the mother with her unconditional love, huh? Any single fathers in anime? (No, I don’t mean like Father Fujimoto in Blue Exorcist – he’s an adoptive father.)
Judging from the cacti and fossils, Toma likes paleontology and biology. Or maybe that was from Ryoma…who knows?
Toma appears to have green frames for his glasses and then standard black frames.
Dang, it cut in the middle of that revelation! If this were a manga, I would’ve been chomping at the bit for the next chapter! However, it does get finished at the very end, so keep watching.
Update: There’s not a lot of music to this show…not that that’s a bad thing. It’s good for tense moments, in fact.
No Guns Life 3
This OP rocks, man!
Ayatsuri Ningyo = Manipulated Puppet. Or Puppet for Manipulation.
That thing on the door says “best luck” (daikichi). It’s a very Chinese thing to do.
His apron says “meat”. He’s probably a butcher or something.
How does a guy with a gun for a head drink coffee? (small LOL)
I remember someone called Juzo with Basket “a Nezuko cosplay”.
Does Tetsuro’s voice change for the Extended he affects with Harmony?
I noticed in the ED Juzo has an arm missing…must be important later.
I believe Mary’s shirt in the ED says “skill” or “technique” (read as “gi” or “waza”).

Cautious Hero – 03 – The Goddessizer
Tumblr media
While Ristarte is enjoying tea with fellow goddess Ariadoa, Seiya barges in to announce he’s not leveling up as fast by simply working out. Rista hopes this means he’s finally ready to start fighting monsters, but Seiya, ever cautious, still thinks it’s “too risky.” Aria suggests a compromise: if Seiya trains with a god, there’s no risk of dying, and he’ll level up faster.
Seiya’s all for it, and Aria introduces him to the stubborn Divine Blade, Cerceus, who certainly looks like he could take Seiya on. Rista leaves the two to train without checking in (knowing it angers Seiya), but each day she finds Cerecus in the cafeteria at lunch, looking more and more defeated and demoralized.
Tumblr media
It gets so bad that she finds Cerceus hiding behind racks of nori, and learns that Seiya is already over three times stronger than him, but insists on training without breaks or sleep. When Seiya finds him and forces him to keep training , Rista can’t save him, as she’s summoned by the goddess Ishtar (who for the record is arguably less smokin’ hot than the Ishtars of DanMachi or Fate/Grand Order).
It’s both strange, sad, and funny to see Seiya, a human, reduce a god renowned for his prowess and doggedness in battle to a sickly, (relatively) emaciated god who’s lost the will to carry, look at, or even mention a sword. When Cerceus tells Rista her hero is sick, Rista’s grave, knowing look says it all. Still, Ishtar says Cerceus, who was once himself a human, is getting valuable training from Seiya.
Tumblr media
Ishtar’s news for Rista was about an imminent attack from the Demon Lord’s armies the next town of Seimul in Gaeabrande. Rista and Seiya are to head to the town’s central church to meet his two allies, the mage Eruru and the swordsman Mash, both Dragonkin descendants. Since the enemy is undead, Seiya tries to buy one thousand vials of holy water to prepare, but grudingly settles for ten.
Seiya suddenly pours some of the water on the priest who introduces his allies, and that priest is revealed to be undead himself. Still, Seiya chops him into pieces without anyone even seeing him move his sword. Before he proceeds to “mop up” with a massively destructive fire spell, Rista just barely manages to get the two allies and a nun to safety.
When Seiya and Rista take a look at Eruru and Mash’s stats, Rista is encouraged, despite the fact they’re only level 7 and 8, respectively. Seiya is less enthusiastic, declaring the two are so not needed. You’d think he’d at least want them as porters for carrying more holy water…or human shields!
