wtf i found this font that i like and i was looking for the creator so i could credit them, and i found she's a thirtysomething argentinian tattoo artist?? which i thought was wrong but no, she's made other kickass fonts like the metal-inspired-but-still-legible New Rocker and collaborated with Pablo Impallari, who made the famous Raleway font.
So i'm like, ok, who is this woman who does tattoos and does kickass typography in her free time? there's dozens of fonts here but only one pic of her, which is this:
Tumblr media
and i was able to find a quote:
I'm a Tattoo Artist and love design in all its forms. I've always loved drawing letters and use them in my artwork.
Since not long ago, I discovered this art form: typography and type design. I owe that to a good friend who is my teacher too, because I'm learning to design type and I love it.
I think the written word has tremendous power, a significance and importance that goes beyond the limits of time and space. So I love letters, shaping them makes the graphic message beautiful. That's what I want to convey to all lovers of letters.
Which is so fucking cool ???

Tiago pzk is single now, so he broke up with that girl. Also fun fact, she used to be best friends with Maria Becerra no clue what happened, but they lived together and had matching tattoos and everything
Are you sure that they broke up, cause this was four days ago
Tumblr media
I looked it up and apparently Maria said that there was no fight or hate between them. Belén made a choice to move in with Tiago and they've just drifted apart over time. Of course, it's hard to say whether that's true or not. I feel like a lot of the Argentinian artists intermingle a little too much and it could blow up the friendships they've made among them

Week 4: What does it mean to be Argentine?
Yesterday in my Sport and Culture in Contemporary Argentina class, my professor, Eduardo, asked us to think about one word that describes Argentinians. After spending a month in Buenos Aires, my first thought was "passion", as I have first-hand witnessed the intensity of daily life here. However, after some more debate and consideration, I finalized my answer to be expressive." In all aspects of life, Argentines are not afraid to express themselves, and I have especially noticed this utter resolve to be true to themselves this week throughout my adventures in Buenos Aires.
To start off the week, our program took us on a day-trip to the esteemed city of Tigre, just an hour by train away from the capital. We took a lovely boat tour around the delta, learning about the simple and eco-friendly way of living of the residents, before heading to a restaurant off the shore for lunch. It was admirable to witness the dedication in the humble lifestyle. Everything these residents of Tigre would ever need can be found somewhere on a boat! My favorite part of this trip, though, was visiting the local artisan market. It was heartwarming to see how the hard-work of the artists can create such a beautiful community. Each vendor was so passionate about their own products and ideas, and through art they are able to display their creativity. I bought a crochet top from the sweetest lady, and she said that she and her daughter hand-make each item! She also made sure to emphasize how talented her daughter was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later on in the week, I finally made the quick trip to the infamous Bond Street, a hidden gem filled with color and edge. I have never seen so many tattoo parlors in one area, and it was so exciting to see the artists perform their work through the windows. Two of my friends even chose to be canvases themselves, getting a tattoo to commemorate their time in Argentina. There were also so many different clothing stores, ranging from those that only sold vintage streetwear to stores that resemble an exponentially more intense Hot Topic. Bond Street is such a safe space for Argentines to completely be themselves, and it was a really refreshing scene as compared to the overall elegance and organization in the day lit streets of Buenos Aires.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Argentine expressiveness is not always in a pleasant, creative way, though. After being recommended by multiple different people, my friends and I finally booked a reservation at the renowned Uptown and The Bronx. Its savvy interior and innovative subway train entrance won me over before I even sat down at the table, but I fell in love the moment I had a bite of the bbq ribs. The food was outrageously good, and the ambiance was indescribable. However, our meal was soon interrupted by the neighboring table, where a couple was fighting vehemently. The police even had to get involved, dragging the couple outside of the restaurant. I have never seen such a blatantly expressive argument in a public area, and while I don't know the details of the situation, it was very interesting to witness such passion and vigor.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't talk about the meaning of being Argentine without describing my experience with the passion and expressiveness in being an hincha and through mate. As a class field trip, we visited La Boca, one of the most famous neighborhoods. Home to the Boca Juniors and the wildest fan base in the world (in my opinion), La Boca was an unforgettable experience. The streets were filled with blue and yellow, the colors of Boca Juniors, both on the walls of buildings and the clothing of its residents. The outside of La Bombonera, the Boca Juniors stadium, was continuously crowded with fans. My professor told me that most of the people there were residents who visit the stadium every day, expressing their undying love for the club. Every single Argentine is able to express their passion for their unofficial religion, futbol, by supporting their favorite club, and they are never afraid to go all out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another key component of Argentina is mate, the unofficial national drink. We were able to go to a mate tasting and making event, where I got to experiment with different herbs and ingredients to concoct my perfect tea. Mate is incredibly important to the culture of Argentina, as it connects every single person into one community. Messi drinks mate; those living in the streets drink mate; the Pope drinks mate.
Tumblr media
There is no single activity that unites the expressive will of Argentines more than drinking mate and futbol, and it was such an amazing cultural experience to witness.

BIOGRAPHY
Luna was born in San Francisco, California and has no plans of ever leaving. She’s a proud Californian who always tries to put her best foot forward. She’s the youngest child of four (2 brothers and a sister) and being the baby of the family, she is often treated as such which she hates. Only exposed to Spanish as a developing toddler and with siblings a lot older than her, Luna went into the school system speaking only one language and had difficulty adjusting. She faced plenty of discrimination  and bullying because of it. Feeling casted out, Luna buried herself in books especially of the comic variety and became fascinated with everything about them. She longed to be as strong and fearless as Wonder Woman and as quick and intelligent as Batgirl. Soon enough, she became fluent in English thanks to all that reading and expressed an interest in art while in elementary school.
She’d go to almost every San Diego Comic Con from the moment she was 10 until the present time. The only difference is now she organizes them. She’s been a head organizer for about 8 years now, after interning while in college for several years. Luna lives, eats and breathes comic conventions and her art. With all the time she dedicates to her profession, she hardly finds the time to date which a lot of her friends scold her about on the daily. That and the fact that she’s been unlucky in love don’t exactly give her the confidence she needs to pursue anyone. Luna adores her family and her many nieces and nephews and wishes to someday settle down and have a family of her own. IF she ever learns to put herself out there.
After seeing a casting call advert at her company bulletin, she decided to give it a shot. It would be the boldest thing she’s ever done and hopefully when all is said and done, she’d no longer be a hoepless romantic.

I was asked by @floraone about my personal experience about Sailor Moon, so enter at your own risk, it’s a reaaaaaaally long post. There’s a lot of ramblings, and some pictures 😅
Alright, some context. I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina, 31 yo, born in 1988. When I was a kid (7 or 8 y/o), during the summer break (which is December - March on this side of the equator) I attended what in Arg is called "colonia", which essentially is going on the weekdays to a club or school, meeting with other kids, and doing sports and going to the pool, supervised by teachers. It's the place your parents sent you in the summer in place of regular school, because they had to work. All this to say, I started watching Sailor Moon on TV after these summer classes.I came rushing home, and while one of my parents fixed me lunch, I would turn on the TV to watch an episode of Sailor Moon.
I found it! Thank you, internet. It aired from 1996 to 1998, first in a channel called "The Big Channel" and then in "Magic Kids" https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Kids If you go to the 1996 seccion in "cronologia" you'll see the mention of Sailor Moon being aired for the first time.
People my age, from my country, who had access to paid cable TV will remember these logos fondly:
Tumblr media
About the dub: Some of the names were changed for the latin american version. Rei and the outter senshi stayed the same, but Mamoru was called Darien, Usagi was Serena, Minako was just Mina, Ami was pronounced Amy, and Makoto was Lita (hence my handle, Lita Kino). I believe these names were the same as the English translations. Well, also, no one called them "senshi", instead they were "guerreras de la luna" (moon warrior, in it’s feminine form). Also, they were called "Sailor Scouts" (yes, in English), but I have no idea where this came from, probably from the English version? Oh, and The Dark Kingdom was called "Negaverso", also no idea where they got this name.
Also, it's worth noting, when I say "latin american version", I mean that usually, voice overs are made in a neutral voice? accent?, that it's not from any particular american spanish speaking country. So it's not Mexican, nor Chilean, nor Argentinian, but a mix of all of them, and not one of them in particular. We all have a specific way of speaking the spanish language, not the meaning per se, but kind of the sing-song quality of the tongue. So, to spanish speakers, someone from Venezuela and Colombia sound really different, even if we all understand what is being said. So most movies and series in latin america are usually "voiced-over" in a way that will sound native to no one, and "neutral" to all. (These are not made for Spain, that voice-overs are made in a distinctive spaniard accent)
About censorship
Recently, I've read about some episodes that were cut or smashed together in the english dubs, and from what I've read that was censored, that never happened in the Latin American versions. I know that Michiru and Haruka were made to be cousins in some translations, but not in the latin american one. Though I know their dialogue was often modified and "softened" to imply their relationship, instead of saying it front and clear (this was modified in the Crystal dub, that they are more literal and use the word "novia", meaning girlfriend, in a romantic context). The only outright censorship the classic anime had, as far as I know, was making Zoisite a woman, dubbed by a woman voice actor.
Daily life? Back then
In regards to my friends at that time, I know most of them were aware of Sailor Moon as a series, but I don't remember any of them being big fans.
There were tons of SM merch like school supplies (pencils, backpacks and such), but I don't think most of it was officially licenced. This is an example of a fannypack from around that time, that I found in an online market page:
Tumblr media
Oh, a really really cool thing we had was these magazines that came monthly (starting in 1996), that had a bunch of cute articles about the series and characters, a central page with a "poster", and a comic version of the anime series (that's based on a manga, yeah, I know 😅) With these magazines sometimes came the movies in VHS format, and this is how I realized the movies existed. Also, there was this book called "the friendship book", that had a bunch of quizzes and questions to write about your friends, all SM themed. Oh, I also remember it had a brief explanation of the "I Ching", and a simplified version to "play" with your friends, and try and predict your love life. I have no idea where my copy is, it's possible I lost it :(
Tumblr media
Here’s the short comic in one of the issues:
Tumblr media
I believe we had the manga, translated to spanish, and flipped so it would read from left to right, but honestly I was too little to care about it, so I can't give you a detailed description of the manga story in this country. I only have only one edition from that time, that I bought when I was little, a 1998 Spanish (from Spain, not Latin American) edition of "The Lover of Princess Kaguya". I was little so please don't judge me, but I found that this "comic book" (as I saw it at that time) being in black and white was the perfect place for me to practice colouring so yeah. I defiled it 😅:
Tumblr media
About Crystal, I just found out it was dubbed in latin american spanish, I never knew  It was never aired in Argentina as far as I know. Turns out, some of the voice actors are the same that did the original series, mainly Usagi / Serenity / Queen Serenity / NQS (whose voice actor is the same that dubbed Lisa Simpson in the LA version of The Simpsons xD)
You can find more info, in spanish, in this page: https://doblaje.fandom.com/es/wiki/Sailor_Moon_Crystal
I have no idea about an Argentinian fanbase, though I'm sure there are tons of fans here. As I said, none of my school friends were particularly fond of the series, but as I grew up, I found tons of people who love SM as I did. Specially in the conventions world, there a lot of fan-made goods.
In regards to daily life nowadays, as a lot of my friends now are small-shop owners, and entrepreneurs, I've come to know and love a lot of people who make art for a living, sometimes SM related. Here are some of my favourites:
Tumblr media
This is my favourite tattoo artist in the world. She’s an AMAZING ilustrator too. Would you look at that half sleeve? 🖤🖤🖤  https://www.instagram.com/bazanjara.tattoo/ Also, if you want to see the tattoo she did on me: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bykswm4AoWm/
Tumblr media
She makes everything piggy  🖤🖤🖤 https://www.instagram.com/mundochanchan/ https://www.instagram.com/chanchanglobal/
Tumblr media
She makes tons of stuff in air dry modeling clay https://www.instagram.com/poteitos.cosaslindas/
Tumblr media
He’s an ilustrator, sometimes makes pins and sticker with his art. It may look cute, but most of what he draws is scalotoglyc humor 🤭🤭🤭 https://www.instagram.com/brunancio/
I even had some friends make me a SM mate 🇦🇷:
Tumblr media
In regards to SM being a big LGBTQ+ representation, I know Haruka and Michiru are big parts of that here as well. I know someone who has Neptune and Uranus' symbols tattooed as a nod to that part of her identity, for example.
I'm sure there's a lot more to SM in Argentina, but this is as far as I know. Hope it helps!

these 7 men love us the same way we love them and it's so so overwhelming to feel loved by an artist like this, like, idk i've never experienced this love!! they cry for us, they cry with us, they comfort us because they know we worry about them (yoongi was quick to calm everyone down when he said his arm was doing well) and they also comfort us about life things as they are our friends giving us advice and cheering for us. we make fanarts, we write letters to them, they write songs about us, they get our fandom name TATTOOED!!! it's incredible how much bts loves us!!! we defend them from antis and they (politely) tell an interviewer their fans are not crazy or mean, they are amazing people who support them and love them! english is not my first language and i live in south america, but i looove that they are leaning a whole language for us 😭😭😭 (they speak japanese for their japanese fans and it's soooo touching!!! and btw, namjoon saying in spanish hola somos bts touched my little argentinian heart) okay, i should go to sleep, but im just so full of love and admiration for the 7 members!!!!!!!!!

I’ve created people. Fictional people.
I need to introduce them, because I think about them SO MUCH, and I love them SO MUCH:
In order of appearance in this world:
Happy 35th birthday today, to my favourite 1.95mt-tall (6′4ish) former rugby player Cristian Andrés Fernández Shaerer Isza.
Born in northern Buenos Aires on July 9th 1985. Middle child to a conservative father (Andrés) and a former model and dancer (Mónica). His older brother Juan Martín left the country to be as far away from this family as possible. He’s the only relative Cristian is still in contact with, after his fallout with them when he came out as... whatever he is now, what with the two partners and one being a man and a woman with no family. His younger brother Ignacio is a fucking moron.
Cristian is 100% Argentinian meat. His olive skin, piercing brown eyes, easy and gentle smile, and sweet disposition could trick you into thinking he’s never been in a fight, when he used to start them himself. He’s left that life behind. He’s thinner now, but still somewhat built like a wardrobe. He took to swimming because he appreciates the time alone with his thoughts.
His only tattoo is a work of art he got when he finally graduated as an architect. There’s a feathered wing that starts in his shoulderblade and goes down his arm. Below there’s a night sky, and down his forearm there’s a forest that ends right at his wrist. The effect, if you ever manage to stand on a first floor and glace down at him (and you are not distracted by the general view of a shirtless Cristian) is that you are on some huge bird’s back, overflying a gorgeous expanse of endless forest on a clear night. The irony, for an architect, is that there’s nothing man-made in it, except the art. The undeside of it, where his skin is lighter, is the continuation of the image, but rendered in simple lines with details that make it look like the ante-proyect.
He has a postgraduate degree. His dissertation criticized empty spaces in cities. He abhors deconstructivism. The idea of buildings as gigantic sculptures people have to use is infuriating. Likewise, he hates minimalism trends in houses, because “people have shit, they need room and furniture to store that shit, dammit. It can’t all be hidden”. So heavily leaning onto the artistic side of architecture, it’s ridiculous that he has worked for the largest oil company in the country, designing the boring part of gas stations, for long years. He managed to leave that, fortunately. Now he’s in the business of maintaining old buildings as much as possible while making them functional again. He’s particularly good with making beautiful liveable houses out of anything you throw at him. He still draws for hours.
His whole life he spent slowly but relentlessly moving farther and farther away from his roots in the posh northern part of the city. He moved to San Telmo, where he met Anita and James. They are now his partners.
By 2020 he identifies as somewhat demisexual. But spent a lot of his life thinking he was just a closeted gay, or bisexual, or maybe asexual. He didn’t dwell on that much, though. He’s now comfortable with demisexual, bisexual or no label at all. The linguist he lives with uses words like spectrum, and non-binary, so he nods and accepts what she says, because he knows cities and buildings, but words are her domain. He’s just happy fucking both Anita, whom he referst to as his wife, and James, the bisexual man he refers to as his husband. Yeah, he has one of each, which adds the poly something label.
