I hate that rock for me a just baseline, unless it’s like CLEARLY rock. Like I’ll hear any sub-genre of rock and just think it’s generic good music. Especially any of the sub genres that are ‘softer’ rock.
This shit is doubly embarrassing considering the fact that I’m a musician, like, I’ve been doing this shit for ~11 years. I should know how to identify genres by now.
#rock#music#soft rock#leo/need#l/n#prsekai#sol talks#it me!#my post#Anyways my sister just told me that leo need is rock#This post applies to a lot of my musical tastes tbh#there are a lot of bands I just thought were ‘a band’ and didn’t realize did rock#I didn’t realize ELO was rock for the longest time#Also people get surprised when I tell I like rock for some reason#I mean I mostly listen to dad rock(or I guess more specifically… yatch rock *tears*) but I can listen to harder stuff#it’s just not in my MO since I don’t KNOW as much of the harder stuff so I just stick to what I know#I will never forget the time some was surprised that I liked Jethro Tull???#he’s not super loud or anything#It also happened with G N’ Roses or Aerosmith ( I don’t remember the song/band but it was in that genral area)#NOT ME GOOGLING AREOSMITH AND IT HEAVY METAL!?? THAT SEEMS WRONG#yah SEE WHAT I MEAN!#most sources said hard rock but apparently they at the very least metal influences(also blues)#this is like me finding Blue Oyester Cult is Heavy Metal/Hard Rock(even asked my metal head friend#uuh… as I was about to say I’m don’t listen to enough Hard Rock but I do like it! I just need to sit down and culture myself#Even though I artistically understand and as a singer respect the technique behind death growls I’m not the biggest fan of bands/songs that#use that. But besides that I fuck with most rock. I mean I fuck with metal if it’s clean#I mean I do like screaming or those like small growls just not full on growl if that makes sense#tbh I’m bad at identifying genres point blank unless it’s obvious#like songs can have vibes but I’m ass at telling apart genres

Fashionable and upbeat high schooler Aya loves listening to rock, but no one else seems to share her interest…until she meets a cool, stylish employee at a CD shop. Dressed in black from head to toe, he has this air of mystery about him, and his taste in music is impeccable. Aya falls hard for him—not knowing her crush is actually her female classmate Mitsuki! For her part, Mitsuki generally keeps to herself and avoids standing out at school. But given that she sits right next to Aya, Mitsuki’s all too aware of the other girl’s feelings, and she’s afraid to reveal the truth. So why does she find herself talking with Aya more and more…?
happy femslash february, since this series got ✨licensed✨ last year I’m remaking my rec post with ✨licensed✨ excerpts. (also, kinokuniya has an exclusive cover variant~)
here’s an ongoing series about high school gals who LOVE dadrock. this feels like a bit of a cheap rec because of how successful it already is, but for anyone who’s been on the fence about trying it out: the hype is deserved.

1) the art is phenomenal, the use of color has a really sleek look; 2) the artist did really well working within twitter’s 4 image limit, each chunk has a solid hook and a solid end while keeping a good sense of continuity; 3) as someone from the states, it is SO funny seeing these japanese teenagers going like ‘nobody understands me because I like foo fighters and areosmith’ and it’s kinda true because they’re japanese teenagers in the 2020s

also, I really like the pacing—the Secret Identity aspect is used for a solid amount of drama without being overused imo. then, when they’re able to engage more honestly with each other, there’s still a lot they need to work through. it’s good slice of life romance for folks who like that vibe.

What if we show to the bots the band Cybertronic Spree ?
I think they would LOVE it !!!
Tumblr media
I'm rather ashamed to say it, but I don't keep up with lot of modern music so I had to go look these up and listen too.
(Me after looking up these)
:O
Omg, omg cybertronic Spree is fucking wicked holy shit!. I could definitely see the bots watching this and then deciding they are going to make a band and cover human songs. But I could also see them watching and them having a full-blown fangirl moment. "By primus! Did they make a costume of me !?!?" And they would start sobbing in delight. Ask if they could leave comments asking the band to cover different songs they like.
And woah, TWRP also found out that they and Dan Avidan actually sing a favourite of mine, which is Starlight Brigade. But humans touch sounds very much like it's meant to be five nights at Freddy's song, and it's wicked. But I'll also add a Spotify link of songs I can see the lost light listening to over the speakers. I'd recommend shuffling this playlist
But alot of cybertronians happen to very much like
- TWRP
- Cybertronic spree
- Daft Punk
- Scandroid
- Night runner
- mystery skulls
- Smash into pieces.
Now onto so bots and their favourites songs out of the playlist. Time for my wheel spinner. Giving each character between 1-3 songs. I didn't get to doing every bot and this is a mix and not everyone is part of the lost light but enjoy the human songs I believe each of the bots like.
Ratchet: what you know: two door cinema club, little talks: of monster and men,
Drift: nightcall: Kavinsky, turn: the wombats, neo-tokyo: Scandroid.
Rodimus: I'm still here: John Rzeznik, running away from home: smash into pieces,
Blaster: pour some sugar on me: Def Leppard, harder, better, faster, stronger: daft punk, money for nothing: dire straits.
Jazz: The man: The killers, turbo lover: Judas Priest, walk this way: areosmith.
Swerve: Butterfly: Crazy town, lifestyle of the rich and famous: good Charlotte, drunk Arcade: Bombs away. /
Starscream: Mad world: Smash into pieces cover, toxic Brittany Spears,
Beachcomber: spend it: Peking duk, electric Feel: MGMT,
Brainstorm: writing on the walls: Scandroid, Derezzed: Daft punk,
Whirl: 19-2000: Gorillaz, brutal: Olivia Rodrigo, 18+: scene Queen.
Blurr: we own it: 2 chainz & Wiz Khalifa, I ran: bowling for soup, Tokyo drift: Teriyaki Boyz.
Moonracer: Shut up and drive: Rihanna,
Swindle: Money: lime cordiale, kickstart my heart: motley crew, robbery: Lime cordiale.

Toki and Murderface RoadTrip Old Fic Idea
I'm the author of the Skwistok Honeymoon Groupchat Fic, and this was another idea that was also going to be a Groupchat fic but it never happened because I was too indecisive about things. So have the ramblings of the possibilities of it all.
Tumblr media
Anyway, this was a "Murderface and Toki Roadtrip" fic idea in a groupchat style. It would be after AOTD and after an album was released, and it would have been their own "Friender Bender". Now, I was never able to decide if this was Murdertooth, Polyklok + Murdertooth-Centric, or Established Skwistok with Secret Relationship Dickface. I was leaning toward the last one because then the fic had a plot, specifically one where Toki ends up becoming Murderface's confidant about his queerness and his relationship, and helping him come to terms that coming out to the band won't ostracize him, that he is worthy of love, he is worthy of being proudly in love, and that times aren't what they were when he was a child.
There were random bits that would have fleshed out characters and random scenes that would have been a laugh.
For instance, Murderface and Toki would have drastically different music genres to listen to.
Murderface is the driver while Toki is the passenger princess. Murderface flips between his black metal (which Toki also enjoys), Bachata (Spanish Singing Murderface is canon to me. He just can't speak it. Toki is shook.), opera (He went to that god damn opera by himself for a reason, he's gotta like it.), thrasher, generalized American Boy roadtrip music like Lynard Skynard, Areosmith, and Eagles to name a few (Toki knows these songs but listening to them within the American context of going on a roadtrip does something to his soul.), and The Divas™️ which are classic female artists like Whitney Houston, Cher, and Madonna (Toki is well versed in The Divas™️)
I think Toki would bring out a lot of EDM, Top 40 POP, indie bands with like 100 listeners on Spotify, Actual Norwegian Black Metal, Disney (They both know all the words. Nathan helped him make the playlist), ABBA (It's him and Skwisgaar's guilty pleasure band), and other animated/cartoony music made that's either instrumental or vocal (Think like Hex Girl's "I'm a Hex Girl" from Scooby Doo.)
Obviously, they both have a long list of other type of Metal-centric music that they switch between like Grindcore, Nu Metal, Doom Metal, Power Metal, and lot of lesser known and very niche genres.
Another scene would be Murderface and Toki making a pit stop to Pickles house while on the trip but they don't let Pickles know.
And they don't let Pickles' parents know. They basically sneak into Pickle's parents house while they're gone and steal Calvert's most prized possession, which is a signed football from his favorite player. He won it by using up Pickles' college savings before Pickles' decided he wasn't going to go to college. They steal the football, take pictures of them with the ball, take pictures of them pissing on Molly's garden and then ripping up the flowers, then a last picture of them destroying the football. They then send it all in the groupchat, tagging Pickles like, "Hey, we stopped by your parents place. Hope they don't mind. <3" and Pickles is crying because he's never felt more seen. (Alternatively, Toki and Murderface would have sent the football to Pickles and told him to watch out for a package from them with it in there, perfectly pristine. Then Pickles would have been the one to destroy the ball and send pictures to the group chat.)
There would have been scenes where they're in motel rooms and Murderface is outside filming Toki talking on the phone to Skwisgaar, where he's dubbing over their conversation.
Such as, "(Bad Norwegian Accent) Oh Skwisgaar, it ams beens a wholes 30 minutes of nots speakings to yous. I feels likes I'ms goings to dies. My weaks guitar playings hands can't keeps up the phones withouts yous!" then he would mock Skwisgaar like, "(Bad Swedish accent) I am feelings the sames ways, my littles dildo guitar player. Every seconds you ams away froms me, I dies on the insides. I may pass away withouts yous.” And then he posts the video to the group chat, which Toki chases him around with a bat for because those were private phone calls. (Murderface wasn’t too far off and he’s embarrassed.)
But, if we go down the secret relationship route, the ending of the fic would have been Toki filming Murderface outside of the motel room while Murderface was on the phone with Knubbler, doing the exact same thing. Except, while Toki and Skwisgaar were defensive in the group chat anytime Murderface recorded any of his dubbed phone calls of them, Murderface would confirm that, yes, that’s exactly what he was doing and yes, it was Knubbler. Which would end in them teasing him about it for a bit BUT it would end with a congratulations and good vibes.
There would have been a lot of running gags too.
There would be a running gag of them pissing off different things in the area like the Grand Canyon, Mount Rushmore, and the Hollywood sign. There would also be a gag of them going to all different kinds of tourist traps like the World Largest Paint Ball or Real Life Alien Exhibit (Mystery Shack perhaps?) and them fully believing it/having the best fun. Like, Toki adds a layer to the paint ball and just about cries while Murderface is on the phone with Charles looking at the “alien” and demanding answers on why they couldn’t get aliens. They would also try and sneak into Area 51 but they would be kicked out quickly.
They would also do a lot of touristy things like scenic routes through the mountains or drive in theaters in the Midwest or go to New Orleans for Bourbon St or see the Giant Sequoias in California. There would be a large portion of fluff of them just hanging out together and being friends and doing stuff. Toki would have so many pictures of cats while Murderface, surprisingly, had a lot of pictures of them together. (He’s a changed man after AOTD, he does not want to take for granted his freedom, Toki, and his friendship/relationship with Toki.)
Now, there was also another instance in this fic where they could have made a pit stop at Murderface’s grandma’s house.
This gave me a lot of ideas of what it would look like. I’m partial to my dingey and depleting two story southern home that has not been taking cared of due to poverty and old age while in the middle of acres of woods where the nearest neighbor is 2 miles away.
Now, I am also very partial to ranch Murderface, where they own farm animals such as pigs, chickens, goats, and maybe a cow and a horse. This would have been a somber scene, where Toki is introduced to Murderface’s homelife, along with getting a better understanding of Murderface’s trauma with family. There would have been a moment where Murderface shared pictures or sentimental objects of his mothers with Toki (and the group chat). It also would have tied in some of Murderface’s Appalachian beliefs such as glass bottles on trees and “never go into the woods at night if you hear a woman. That’s not a woman. That’s a skinwalker.” (Murderface fully believes in skinwalkers. He’s a 2am AM Radio listener of conspiracy theories. Is there an active skinwalker in Murderface’s childhood homes area? Possibly. Toki is too scared to get out of bed at night to check.)
There would have also been an attempted hit on their lives as well.
I did dabble in the idea of Toki and Murderface being targeted and hurt while on the trip and having to go to the hospital. It would have been something like this.
Murderface hops off the highway and decides he wants to take a scenic route on the trip. While on this route, he pops a tire somehow. He pulls over to attempt to see how bad it is and if he can just pop on a spare till they can get to an automotive place. Well, someone passes him and pulls over. Thinking they’re coming to help, Murderface greets them, only to then be shot at. Toki, who is still in the car, freaks out and while attempting to get out and help Murderface, Toki gets strangled from an unknown assailant from behind. Fighting happens, Toki knocks out the person behind him and Murderface runs back to the car. However, he gets shot (Don’t worry, he lives) but Toki, who stole the other assailants gun from his belt, shoots at the other guy and hits him in the chest.
Well, Murderface gets back in the car and he has to basically race to the hospital with one popped tire and a bullet wound. Toki has a nasty gash around his neck that’s bruising. Toki is sending a SOS message while Murderface drives. Some of it altered between Toki having to take the wheel while Murderface pumped the pedals to Toki having to take over completely by pushing Murderface’s chair all the way back and climbing in in front of him to take over.
They get the hospital in time, they are treated, and the guys + Charles have the two people plus that area searched. Here would have been the conversation of “Should we come get you to go home?” and Murderface would have said, “Fuck no.”
Basically, it would have been one big self indulgent fic of Murderface and Toki having fun while road tripping around the US and getting into trouble.

Random Headcanons For The Arcobaleno
As we all know the Arcobaleno are the best in their respective fields. However, I like to consider what random thing(s) they could be good at that isn't necessarily related to their field of work.
Fon- I wana say he can gamble really well as I think it'd be funny. Just imagine how upset Viper would be if they ever found out the guy who hounded them for being too greedy was just randomly really good at gambling! 🤣
Reborn- It might be considered unoriginal, but I feel like he'd be good at something like an instrument. Mostly, the violin, trumpet, or else cello. He just gives off those vibes.
Verde- He can dance! Like really well, actually. I mostly see him doing things like ballet, ballroom dancing, the waltz, tango, and the samba. Maybe hiphoo as well-Look. He can just dance, okay?! It's not really evidence, but I think this headcanon of mine has a smidge of credence as he did that cute little dance in that one anime episode. It was filler but still-
Bonus- 20yl both Verde and Mukuro will dance the samba together. Or maybe it's 10yl and Verde has figured out how to reage himself and his fellow Arco to their precurse ages? Both are separate aus I guess
Lal- Nails. I can't even explain why or how I arrived at this. I just think she is really good at painting nails and doing nail art. She doesn't really get to show off her skills often (her nails get ruined too easily at her job), but when she does, it's always mind-blowing. She's painted things like sakura, koi, dragons, etc. on Fon's nails dozens of times. Skull is always begging her to give him some wicked punk style acrylics with studs and the likes. And Reborn? He's a simple man who just wants a clear coat and a French tip. Viper doesn't often ask (they can just mist some stellar nails into existence), but when they do, they usually tell Lal to surprise them. Colonnello only asks for fun/to spend some relaxing quality time with his fiancee, and he always asks for something blue. She's done simple plain blue nails, ombre, marble, and more on 'Nello in the past. It always gets chipped by the next day, but neither really care all that much. For them it was about spending time together. Verde...idk I don't think Lal's ever done his nails. Not because he wouldn't want her to, but just neither have asked. Perhaps they are too shy? *shrugs*
Colonnello- The dude can sing! He mostly does it in the shower. Sometimes, there will be a few Arco pressed against the bathroom door listening to him as he belts some rock song from the 80s. He can totally hit those Areosmith notes!!!
Viper- I feel like Viper could do stuff like knit, crochet, sew, embroidery, and even beading. They feel crafty like that, and you better believe they are skilled!!! They have an old cloak from their childhood just full of gorgeous embroidery. They also buy yarn at discounted prices when there's a sale so they can make people hand knited and crocheted items. A lot of the times, the Arco and Varia will go to them to patch up holes in their clothes. There is always a price! But it's worth it to see Viper's embroidery work. That's just how they patch up holes more times than not.
Skull- Idk, my ideas are pretty basic with Skull right now. He's good at makeup, cooking/baking, and he definitely has a good fashion sense that he never gets to show off often due to always wearing his leather jumpsuit.

A rational explanation of why Jojo’s is a great anime
I have no doubt you have some expectations of how this is gonna go down. Lots of bombastic and strange praise, many odd memes, and references that are without a doubt… biza- peculiar. But I’m not. This will be a calm analysis and thorough dissection of just why I love this anime and think it is one of the most creative stories ever made.
I detest over exaggerations. They tend to be very misleading, though for purpose entertainment, are all fine and good. But even still are buy and large ,overused and thus have lost all real meaning. I do all of this to tell you that I am not over exaggerating.
There is no other work of fiction as creative as JoJo’s bizarre adventure. I would go so far as to say the series itself is nothing more and nothing less than a love letter to creativity. Araki is more than willing to reference, remix, and reexamine anything and everything that crosses his path; while seamlessly and shamelessly experimenting and creating new, fascinating abilities, designs, and character concepts. Now some of you might be thinking “how can one be called creative if he makes so many references?” Allow me to show you the greatest truth of storytelling that no one is really comfortable talking about.
Story telling is really like the wheel. No one knows where it came from and all we have done and will ever do is make simply make it better. That means taking things that came before, mixed with some other thing you saw another guy do, and maybe some weird stuff you found in the back alley. You put your own flare on it and send it running. And there is no better example than JoJo’s. From turning song lyrics into characters, their abilities, and even entire plot points. Like how under pressure defines Kira’s life in hiding. Or how killer queen’s allusions to explosives made his stand a bomb creation stand. And that’s just one character how about the band areosmith inspiring one of the few and greatest nonhumans stands of Narancia’s plane. I could go on for a while but there is still more to discuss. In a different genre of art…
Fashion, anatomy and shot composition. JoJo’s has exiled So much in these categories that even real-world art galleries and fashion brands have taken note of its pure genius. JoJo’s characters whether emulating the muscular vibrato of the 80’s action movie, or the subtler elegance of the slimer frames of the latter parts. There is an expressed mastery of anatomy, not only its natural forms but it’s almost surreal combinations. These poses are not just done for strangeness’s sake but are done to express the pure artistry of the human form and its myriad of forms and positions. The outfits also are not random and without design they are meticulously selected and obey the fundamentals of high fashion. All of these combing to ground a story featuring such seemingly conflicting ideas like Victorian vampires, to serial killers, evil priests, and president in search for the pieces of Christs body... Into something that not only defies the mind but celebrates the strangeness most people want in their stories anyway.
Then there is a wholly different way which makes JoJo almost infinitely enjoyable. Unlike many stories featuring combat and violence as the main conflict resolution system, which tends to be one of the most engaging of conflict resolution in fiction. I mean come on court cases and investigations are all good and exciting. But nothing can be as pure in establishing steaks and motive then the conflict between bodies against each other in a struggle for survival. But JoJo’s avoids the greatest flaw of these purely physical combat systems while gaining usually something lost to it.
You see in a normal combative setting, a story can only do so much. There are only so many ways a combat encounter can go and eventually one expects the heroes to grow in power and so too the bad guy. This can unfortunately however spiral into the absurd feats of power to the point where the audience becomes bored or unable to really relate to the struggle. This is commonly referred to as power creep and JoJo’s dodges this masterfully. In JoJo’s the fights remain physical and intensive but avoid power creep because in JoJo’s no fight is as simple as power levels. But instead are based on the application of those powers and abilities, turning mere brawls into a beautiful and ethereal game of mind and body. How will the stand that can leap through any reflective surface defeat the stand who can increase the gravitational pull on any object? With this no two fights will ever be the same and yet each fight can maintain the same levels of excitement and stakes just based on the characters abilities presented. Simply brilliant.
Following this point is something I think really sets JoJo’s above and beyond. Any show can have great and thought provoking conflict, but what sets JoJo’s beyond is the struggle. It’s a true and universal experience I think every life that has ever drawn breath can relate to. That moment where that breath is called upon and one must put everything one has to achieve ones goal, to overcome the obstacles before them to grit one teeth, to bear ones lashes and push on. This is JoJo’s
From bullets to overwhelming odds to near physics breaking hurdles, the characters fight on even to the presence of death. They push beyond the walls and fires and see the path to victory and through blood sweat and tears obtain it, in a usually karmic and cathartic fashion. Showing all they are and all they have learned up to that moment and shine like gold, better and stronger than before.
For those who don’t know JoJo’s is it is known as a generational story. Ever new season or part, has a new member of the JoJo family facing a new threat. Sometimes these relate to a previous part or sometimes its something new altogether. This is what I think makes the story so great. Not the Joestar family itself but the idea of family both by blood and the found ones we make ourselves and how sometimes those can coincides or not at all. No man really acts alone, he is always supported by and supports other around him. There’s a reason why we have the term Joe-bro in our fandom it’s because each and every JoJo has that most trusted companion or group of companions and JoJo’s does not treat them as mere support or comic relief each one has their own unique personality, backstory, and reason for staying by the Joestar’s side and it’s not in the combat or the mysteries or peril where these moments shine the brightest. It’s in the little breaks the show takes to let the characters eat or rest, the conversations they have in long car rides or the little handshakes or dances they do. The jokes and teasing the share with the other. Its with these moments of calm and pearl that these friends become more than friends but family.
Then there is the actual family itself, and I think it’s in here where the show gains such respect from its fans. It’s not like most shows where there is a deep connection between ancestor and descendant and sometimes the bloodline isn’t even so clear. For example, my favorite is the relation between Joseph and Josuke. You see Joseph is Josuke’s father from an affair. Now most shows would treat this revelation and their inevitable meeting with allot of drama and try to maybe alleviate this into a proper father and son relation. But JoJo’s chooses not to. Josuke when he meets his actual nephew Jotaro who is much older than him (yeah family trees can get strange like this). He doesn’t really care all that much he doesn’t want to butt into Joseph’s family or cause them any trouble he even refuses any chance at an inheritance and is perfectly happy with his one not so traditional family of his single mom and loving grandpa. Eventually of course he meets his father Joseph and they basically get some closure, but they don’t become instantly father and son close. It’s awkward and strange, they both get the closure but Joseph doesn’t gain a son and Josuke didn’t get a new dad. And they were both ok with that and even a little happier for it. But the show isn’t afraid of the closeness a family can share either. You see Jotaro and his daughter Jolene were quite at each other’s throats and didn’t have that great of a relation but during and after the Crisis of Stone Ocean their bond grew stronger and impart that bond gave them strength. Its honestly some of the sweetest imagery to see Joslyn embracing her father, the character we all know and maybe even look up to like she does. It’s a beautiful display of all a family can be and what it means blood relation or otherwise.
And I find it so shocking in show of life, laughter, family, and friendship. That there is so much death... But when you think about it long enough, doesn’t that just make so much damn sense? How could someone, anyone set out to write about life and its nearly infinite experiences, and not touch on that one universal experience. Death. From tragic losses of fate, like a mother lost in a carriage accident, or loved ones dying at the hands of murders, heroic sacrifices made for the sake of ones friends, and the sudden unexpected loses of those so young and full of life. There is not a single part free of that pain. And if I may be so bold Arkia is at his greatest when depicting loss, both its grief and even its sometimes ethereal beauty of not only what could lie beyond, but the spark of life that was lived. For greater love has no man to lay down his life for his friend.
So yeah, there it is, a very serious analysis of a show that most people think can’t even take itself seriously. I hope you enjoyed it, and maybe you can enjoy the show for yourself now. Or if your already a fan maybe you got an even deeper appreciation of it. Or hey, if you didn’t like it, maybe you can now see why other do. No pressure bud. Well, see you guys latter.

Tumblr media
A popular Twitter shorts series depicting the love story between a gyaru and her classmate she mistook as a guy outside of school, bonding over their mutual love for rock music.
happy femslash february, here’s an ongoing series about high school gals who LOVE dadrock. this feels like a bit of a cheap rec because of how successful it already is, but for anyone who’s been on the fence about trying it out: the hype is deserved.

1) the art is phenomenal, the use of color has a really sleek look; 2) the artist did really well working within twitter’s 4 image limit, each chunk has a solid hook and a solid end while keeping a good sense of continuity; 3) as someone from the states, it is SO funny seeing these japanese teenagers going like ‘nobody understands me because I like foo fighters and areosmith’ and it’s kinda true because they’re japanese teenagers in the 2020s

also, I really like the pacing—the Secret Identity aspect is used for a solid amount of drama without being overused imo. then, when they’re able engage more honestly with each other, there’s still a lot they need to work through. it’s good slice of life romance for folks who like that vibe.
