book 7 spoilers <3 very long rant im sorry!!

it was never meant to be this way. when he was such an ass to us in the prologue, when he laid those pesky remarks upon us and immediately assuming that we got into NRC as a janitor because we weren't good enough without any prior knowledge of how we were brought here against our will and having to adapt to such an unfamiliar environment where everything - trends, names, history, and even the currency - were different. he didn't know about the throbbing headache we had while the headmage was explaining the school's curriculum and suddenly bringing up the word "magic" into the conversation like it was foreign language.

he thinks he's above us just because we're a clueless student who couldnt cast any spells and took up the miserable job just for the sake of money and to live. he had this one-way "not my problem!!" mindset about us that he dipped the moment after because he never would have suspected that we would grow to be something more important, something more irreplaceable in his life.

he never meant to test the waters, and he's drowning by mistake.

his concern for you gets more obvious as each book advances (or was it always obvious??). you're just an otherworlder oblivious to the dangers that lurk in twisted wonderland, so it's only casual for him to fret about when you've been taken into scarabia with minimal escape routes, to be the first one to notice that you were missing among the entourage of people that have been kidnapped, to be the only one to point out that you weren't in the best condition AND suggesting to bring you back home in case the party was all too much. he knows how vulnerable you are, and he jumps into action as quick as possible because that's basically his brand. nothing deeper!!! (unknown dangers lurk around you on the daily, but you lurk in his mind so much more than he lets on. you're probably more used to the dangers of magic than he's used to the thought of you occupying his mind 24/7. isnt that ironic)

and he didn't consider the complications of how dangerous it could be for the headmage to send us back to our original world, possibly damaging the very fabrics of time and space and ceasing to exist while transporting - he just instantly goes to the part where the news was positive and that we could travel between Twisted Wonderland and earth in one piece, blocking out his surroundings just to see your smile, as that was possibly the happiest you could have ever been in front of him.

imagine each time he hangs out with someone new, or if someone has gained a romantic interest in him once you've left, he tries to find a part of "you" in them in his peripheral vision. whether they have an ounce of bravery that you had, whether they're as understanding as you are to know that he isn't just a human built of jokes and pranks, whether they won't doubt him like the rest did - as you were the only one who truly believed in his capability to truly lead the rest out of danger.

he could beg for other people to believe in him, to see that his skills could draw out much more if he really wanted to, but he didn't have to do that with you. in a flashing moment of possible failure, he turned to you in a heartbeat, uncharacteristically, desperately calling out for you to save him because he had no idea what was happening. he almost started to lose himself and quickly realises that the power he was wielding so suddenly wasn't some lousy spell, that it could possibly cause someone's life, and you were there to steady him when he needed it the most. a rarity of a scene he entrusted his entire body to you with. you believed in him. you ARE the betterment of him.

you held his hand like a vow, to protect each other and strengthen through every obstacle and turmoil that drives you one step closer to becoming a better version of yourself. your hand, tightly coiled around his, radiated the warmth and comfort he needed in his times of darkness and inner conflict.

it should've been you. you're perfect.

and that's why his dream still has you in it. it doesn't have to be one way or the other, you can simply go back and forth to his world and your own in just a snap! he could never dream of you leaving his sight and grasp, hindering him from ever telling you how much you actually meant. he has all the time in the world.

and that's what he wants, but his heart says otherwise, and that's fine. he just wants you to be safe and see him for who he is. you inspired him to take pride in his name, as an ace can do anything!!

Campaign 2: the Cobalt Soul, extensive global networks of knowledge collection, collation, and dissemination. commentary on the importance of knowledge keepers and its relationship to corruption.

Campaign 3: the absolute most BUCKWILD personal collections you've ever seen in your life. hoarder territory. if there's a cataloguing system it is HIGHLY specific to its creator. what is real and and what is fake. opens up to metanarrative commentary on organization of knowledge and archival that I WILL be writing a dissertation on in five years, research funding be fucking damned.

The fans: Ugh Sonic was just so preachy. I mean obviously he's supposed to be the good guy, so any uncomfortableness I feel here and any way I feel like Sonic's choices are framed as being why some other people have shitty lives is just bad writing because he is obviously supposed to be right always, but this characterization makes no sense. Isn't he right for the things he did?

Ian Flynn, using Kitsunami to say the (barely even at this point) quiet part even louder: Hey it's almost like ever since the Mr. Tinker event we've been purposely running with the critique of Sonic as being more selfish than he appears. Sonic is upholding a system of Eggman v Sonic that currently benefits him and shuts down talk of how to improve the current system because he likes his own personal enjoyment and he's attached enough to Eggman that he'd rather Eggman pretend to be a good person than be stuck in prison for life. He doesn't even quite practice what he preaches. We are trying to show that the current hero v villain system and Sonic's recklessness currently affects some people poorly and that Sonic isn't a perfect hero.

It's not the same gear.

I know, I know, we all want it to be the same gear from when Jayce and Viktor first got the Arcane to work for them, we all want Viktor to have kept it with him for sentimental reasons, i know. Trust me, I do too. But it's not

Don't get me wrong, it still represents the same thing! Their relationship, the whole "two sides of the same coin" thing, what they've built, how connected they are. The corruption that's taken over. It still means the same, it's just a different gear.

"But Nexa how do you know?!" I hear you scream. I'm so glad you asked.

Let's look at the gear in question

Do you see the problem yet?

They're very different sizes. The original gear is much smaller, and the center hole is wider in relation. Viktor's corrupted gear has a smaller opening but is honestly overall pretty large as far as gears go.

Aside from the increased detail, I think this shot shows pretty well that the center is too different for it to be the same. The animation in Arcane is honestly too meticulous to miss that.

Which makes sense, Viktor and Jayce wouldn't have really had time to grab anything from that lab as they left. And Viktor didn't hold on to the gear, he let it float away. Even if he did remember exactly what it looked like, he'd have to go find it while the enforcers and Heimerdinger were already there, and I highly doubt they were inclined to let that happen.

So instead I propose a different solution! Viktor grabbed that gear on his way out of the lab for the last time, likely planning to never again see Jayce - or at least all they had built together - after that.

All in all, this distinction doesn't really matter and please keep writing heartbreaking stuff where it is the same gear cause I feed off that shit. I just wanted to share this particular observation. And also I think Viktor grabbing a gear on his way out as a reminder is equally heartbreaking.

just watched the new doctor who and I think the most accurate word to describe how I feel about this episode is frustration. I think the smaller seasons are really starting to show the cracks because I should not be annoyed to have an entire other doctor lite episode centered on ruby sunday. I LOVE ruby to fucking bits. but there's only 8 episodes! you can't make a backdoor unit pilot that barely even has the doctor or belinda in it when there's already so little real estate to get to know those two with! and it's not that the episode is bad. it's actually quite good. it's just that the whole time I'm watching it I'm thinking, "now there's one less episode with the doctor and belinda."

Finally sat down and listened to the new song. Silly words are here if you'd like to read (and more in the tags because yeah, and this has been edited since I posted, so apologies if it looks different from someone else's reblog), but no pressure. If you scroll on by, I hope you have a good day today.

I'm... surprised I'm happy? After hearing it. I think that's how I'm feeling, at least. It's not a giddiness or me jumping around in joy, but there's a kind of, um. Candlelight flicker among the darkness that was surrounding me as I was thinking about it? Like a light came on once I finally looked and checked it out for myself.

I'm unsure how to word it properly and I don't really know how to without going on a long-winded ramble, but I had some thoughts before I heard the song based on what people were saying, the anxieties I saw swirling about, thoughts of guilt and anger amongst the pointing fingers and the reality of what a sharp rise to fame can do to, well, anyone. I saw so many different opinions and I'm not here to dismiss any of them, or say one is wrong. Music is wonderful and powerful, loving and harsh, not just in its creation but in the context we give it. I don't want to dismiss anyone's thoughts here.

I just want to say that it's a song I'm glad exists. I'm glad he trusts people to hear it. That despite its content, or context - I don't want to comb through why it exists, or say I'm glad any negative things happened so the pain can produce more because that is the furthest thing from the truth for me.

Caramel is sweet as a concoction in it's nature. You can put things in it, like salt, to change the taste and make it more complex. And it can burn, scorch, and stick - it can make a right mess of a kitchen, of someone's clothes, hands. It's temperamental and not set in stone, at least not while you're stirring it in the pot. But it's not always a mess.

If you're patient with it and respect the process - and, in this case, that respect is to him and the others as performers and as people, as well as yourselves as fans of the music and individuals with flaws, personalities, all that makes people who they are - it might turn out okay, in the end.

I could be off with this, of course. I'm just glad the song exists.

Caramel takes time. And it's okay to have it salty, bitter, or sweet. There's times for all flavors and even if it isn't your preference for whatever reason, it's good to accept the choice and respect it. Respect the making of it and the one who spent hours of time and patience on it.
