these two are sooooo cute and they make me so emo like we all watched arcv we know what happened. but MAN. these two had a dream together and they worked so hard for it and then they died. classic! *loudly sobbing*

you can just tell through the small moments we have in the anime and what we got in duel links (thank you duel links) that they just care so much about each other. I remember seeing ppl say Rin was too mean in duel links and I'm like ?????? THEYRE 14 SHE'S JUST TEASING HIM THAT'S HOW THEY AREEEE whatever. something something playful teasing is the meanest a girl can get before yugioh fans get scared

I feel like the fact they both have strong personalities is what makes it work. they both can be hotheaded and stubborn but they're both so strong and courageous and it just Works. despite Rin's lack of appearance in the anime you can tell what kind of person she is through the small glimpses and while she gets on Yugo it's because she cares. but she's doing it for herself too!! because it's their dream and it's so nice. I feel that they really motivate each other 🥹

how one sees all this and thinks she actually hates Yugo is so funny like okay. they literally built a duel runner together and were going to duel in the friendship cup because it's their dream to do so but she said clear wing would rather play with her so she really hates him forever. okay ❤️

they just make me very 🥹🥹🥹 like despite all odds they did that!! and then that other stuff happened that we don't need to talk about <3 they are so funny and cute and their personalities compliment each other so well ^^ 💙💚

ArcV Month: Catch-Up Mode!

Hooo boy was I excited to hear about this. I loved Arc V, and am pleasantly surprised to hear it has a month of prompts. I have no art talent whatsoever, so get ready for a month of text post love gushing.

(heads up, I'm gonna be using sub names. I tried watching the dub after finishing the series subbed initially and it was just not the vibe)

Day 2: Bracelet Girls

These four are an ode to wasted potential. Early Yuzu is probably the strongest lady friend the franchise has ever had. Yes, above Akiza. She's got her own goals and motivations, a solid design, and a believable friendship with Yuya, feeling very appropriately like "our parents are friends so we were forced to hang out a lot when we were little." Trying to figure out who Yuto is without tipping off Yuya off, losing to Masumi and using it to motivate her own growth, and actively seeking out Sora's tutelage all showed her agency, something I to that point didn't expect out of side characters much. Admittedly, that started to fade as soon as she was kidnapped by Yugo in the Battle Royale, but their interaction was a lot of fun, and being thrust into a literal alternate reality would probably curb my independence too.

Serena. Bruh SERENA tho? She was perfect. Fiercely independent. Rebellious. Clever. Interdimensional terrorist-turned-Lancer. Banger outfit design, both in her modified Academia uniform and the street clothes she's in after. Not quite as much focus, due to the cast expanding significantly not long after her introduction, but damn if she didn't steal the show every time she was on screen. She's probably the most competent Lancer, aside from Reiji, and probably in my top ten characters of the series.

While we didn't get much of Rin or Ruri, I can firmly say that Ruri has one of the best designs in the franchise. I'm a sucker for purple, black, and bird motifs (no foreshadowing there whatsoever). I do however enjoy that all 4 girls had functional decks. In the TCG, WindWitch was probably the best generic synchro package you could run until P.U.N.K. came out, Lyrulisc/TriBrigade was meta relevant for YEARS, and while Lunalight isnt quite the powerhouse it used to be, it's still probably the best thing you can do in pauper, and it showcased some of the best card design choices of the early pendulum era; high consistency, recyclability, and the first twinkling of backrow having effects when banished from the graveyard. Unfortunately, it's only competitive success came from duel links or the era where it enabled a Rank4 toolbox, getting Tiger banned, taking the Fusion build out of rouge playability. Melodious...well it wasn't ever truly relevant but I did have a buddy who played it as a floodgate simulator so I have a strong aversion towards it.

I was so confused for a moment because cause that is one hell of a crossover and character choices. Then I realized they were probably not meaning the Arc V and VRAINS characters but characters from Free! (assuming the fandom shortens Haruka to Haru)

Yuma's constant attempts to befriend Shark are pretty high on my list

Yuya's speech at the beginning of the Miami Championship Arc, and the speech at the end of the Friendship Cup. Both were just.. so nice to hear

And anything Yugo says, both in sub and dub. I appreciate someone who's just a little dumb, who randomly gets kinda poetic, y'know?

As for a silly quote. From the arcv dub, "How do you sleep at night, Yuya?" "UHM. With pillows??"

31 - Favorite Duel

Another list,, it's hard to choosej ust one

I really like the Shark vs Yuma duel in episode 10 because it's so interesting to see the protagonist lose important duels, I like seeing it a lot even if that duel itself didn't have the consequences it could've

Also!! I just finished the III vs Shark duel. I liked that one too :]

Auh, for ArcV, it's hard to choose, I love too many of the duels to truly just. Pick one. Or even a handful.

So many of the duels are a treat to watch because there's so many visual elements to them, the stakes are usually pretty high, so many different summoning methods helping to add diversity, they're all so interesting in their own way

30 - Favorite Episode

I love so many episodes I don't think I can give you just one

Zexal Episode 10 - Okay my reasoning for this is kinda funny, I love Shark, and I find Yuma losing such an important duel to be fascinating writing wise. I love it

Zexal Episodes 22 - 24 - Shark risking his life to protect Yuma's key, and subsequently Astral, Kaito and Astrals duel, Yuma joining through the power of zeXal, wah I love these episodes

Zexal Episode 34 - I love both III and Shark very very much so seeing them duel was so much fun

And that ends it for Zexal because I'm not very far into it shdhd

Any early Arc V plot episodes

Arc V Episode 34-35 - I love this duel so much, it has suuuch good writing and it's nice to watch

Arc V Episode 37 - Because of the amount of memes related to the episode still going around

Arc V Episode 47 - Yuzu switching clothes with Serena so she doesn't get brought back to Acedemia. Oooh that was fun

So very many of the Synchro episodes, too many to list here

Both Ruri and Rin's duels against their loved ones in Acedemia. Those hurt, I love them.

I unfortunately didn't get far enough into Vrains for me to uh, remember anything from it. So I can't exactly pick out a specific episode shdhf
