I finished sewing my second sealskin capelet!
As well as dark green dyed sealskin, it has a rabbit fur lining and trim, as well as an arctic fox tail as the collar. The strap is genuine leather and adorned with a mother of pearl button.
It is entirely sewn by hand.

being in a class where i regularly interact with animal specimens is such a time sometimes, because we've got stuff that makes sense for us to have (coyotes, foxes, raccoons, etc.), some stuff that isn't typically what you'd find locally/is not as common (armadillo, marmosets, sperm whale mandible), and then there's the human baby skull that no one is really sure where we got it from
#my professor just brought it out in lab and told us he didn't know where it came from but its been at the college longer than hes worked#here#its also missing the mandible#like theres just part of a human baby skull chilling in a box on campus somewhere#also kind of unrelated but i now understand why people hunted arctic foxes for their pelts#i kept getting distracted during that lab and just petting the study skin#j rambles

Hi, I have some fur farm questions if you don't mind answering.
I've seen you mention that Sapphire is questionable. Why is that? Is it bc of the bleeding and CHS? If so, is Mansfield's Pearl also questionable to breed? And can CHS or bleeding issues be bred out or are they inherently part of the color?
On that note, do you have information on other color mutations that are linked to health issues?
Lastly, how does one get into fur farming? It seems really expensive to set up and buy all the foxes, and I struggle to find fur farms to follow online bc of how taboo it is let alone finding farms to buy live stock from, especially of rare mutations. Is finding farms to buy from more of a word of mouth + trust thing? And is mentorship of new farmers a thing or is fur farming too competitive for established farmers to want to do that?
Bonus: feel free to talk about your favorite mutations or anything else you wanna share.
Hi!
Yes Sapphires seem to all carry genetic illnesses. Some look to be only mildly affected, I’ve been following a few foxes friends of me carefully bred after they discovered some of their Pearls are Mansfield Pearls. So far the animals look to be doing ok, so it’s surely not a death sentence.
However I fear not all farms will be so careful about their breeding or using unhealthy animals because they want to get that special color. You’ve probably seen or heard about Mouse, the Sapphire fox Save a Fox bought from Northern Fox and Fur (a fur farm) several years ago.
Sadly Mouse did have severe CHS and had to be euthanised. There are very strong suspicions the farm bred “special needs” animals so the rescue could profit from the sob stories. Eventually Save a Fox bought out the whole farm. As of today it’s still about half filled with foxes because they can’t place the animals anywhere. Every rescue is full.
Mansfield Pearl alters the way in which blood behaves, foxes of this color seem very prone to excessive bleeding. I acquired this female Pearl Cross (suspected Mansfield Pearl Cross) “secondhand” a few years ago from the US. From what I see in the picture, it’s not a place I want to support. However this girl had already been culled for killing her whole litter of pups. When my tanner skinned the fox, they found that the bones were super weak and easy to snap. The skin had an unusual amount of bloodvessels and also the gums and teeth were quite funky. I’m still waiting for the cleaned skull.
In red foxes there’s not that many bad mutations luckily. Pale eyed foxes do experience sensitivity to the sun, we’ve seen them squint in direct sunlight. Mixing Whitemark/Ringneck/Platinum/Georgian (Snow) creates a lethal effect in homozygous form. Platinums can be anemic but it does seem to be worse in certain breeding lines than others. There’s probably others I’m forgetting but sadly there’s not much research being done anymore.
Finding a farm to work with is very hard nowadays. I somehow got myself a contact 5-6 years ago and it’s snowballed from there. The number of farms is very low now though, many of my own contacts have decided to stop farming because it’s essentially two full time jobs for the pay of half a job.
At least here in Europe it’s pretty much impossible to start up your own farm unless you have serious cash. No bank will want to provide you a loan because there’s little money to be made in the industry. Mutation foxes are very rare, most of what is produced is mink fur, arctic fox fur (‘bluefox’) and some raccoondog fur. You’ll find some Silver and Gold fox, but even those pelts are currently being sold in bulk at rock bottom prices to overseas buyers.
A picture of a Smokey Platinum pup for those who read this whole thing lol. This is a newer mutation for us, last year we had one male and this pup is one of his. Can you see the differences between this cage vs the one the female Pearl Cross lived in (she could barely turn around)? The cage in the background gives a better view of the size. There is also a nest box attached.

[A repeat of the same picture, but the korean girl has been replaced by a dead-of-winter-pelt one-tailed anthropomorphic arctic fox with scarlet mehajiki under her eyes. She's BIG and FLUFFY and maybe kinda looks fat since she has such a big pelt. The peace sign and duckface has been replaced with a grimace and middle finger.]

Excerpt from this story from The Revelator:
Thirty minutes’ drive outside northern Canada’s largest city lies one of its best-kept secrets.
The Yukon Wildlife Preserve spans more than 700 acres and features 12 iconic Yukon species in their natural habitat: wood bison, mountain goat, woodland caribou, mule deer, muskox, red fox, thinhorn sheep, moose, elk, Canada lynx, arctic ground squirrel, and arctic fox. It has a long history of rehabilitating injured animals and breeding rare species, and it also serves as a critical stopover and monitoring station for migratory birds.
The site, which celebrates its 20th anniversary as a preserve in 2024, dates back to the 1960s and a man the Canadian Broadcasting Company once called “one of Yukon’s most colorful characters.”
Founder Danny Nowlan was a former forest ranger and preeminent falconer who grew up skipping school in favor of trapping animals and selling their pelts. In 1967 he purchased the property north of Whitehorse, “determined to build not a zoo, but a showcase for northern species in their natural habitat,” the Yukon Times wrote.
Over the next 35 years, Nowlan and his wife would turn the empty property into what they termed a “game farm,” although they didn’t raise animals for hunting or trapping, as the term typically implies. They raised and sold animals to zoos and game farms throughout Canada and the United States and used the earnings to build a wildlife rehabilitation center. As the years went on, they offered educational tours to allow visitors to see native species in large, semi-wild habitats.
Among the many species the Nowlans raised, in custom-built breeding pens and an avian hospital, were peregrine falcons and other birds of prey. The falcons raised there were either sold — using the proceeds to mitigate the poaching of wild populations — or rewilded as nearby populations declined.
Their conservation efforts garnered a national spotlight, and notoriety, when the couple were swept up in a falcon-trafficking sting, arrested, and charged with laundering wild falcons to Arab royalty. Depending on the telling, Nowlan and his wife were either ruthless masterminds who had found a way to finance their conservation habits by trafficking the very birds they were protecting or arrested without merit.
All the falcons were seized. After three years of a trial that at the time was the longest and most expensive in Yukon history, and the Nowlans’ near-financial ruin, they were acquitted of all charges.
When Nowlan and his wife retired in 2001, they put the site up for sale. Members of the community began advocating for the property to become a public facility, and in 2004 they succeeded.
The site is now owned by the Yukon government and operated by the nonprofit organization formed by those neighbors, the Yukon Wildlife Preserve Operating Society. It received accreditation from the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums in 2012, joining the ranks of the Toronto Zoo and the Vancouver Aquarium.

Ulysses Crowsong Creation Lore drop:
*The idea of the character Ulysses was created way before I joined the Bug Army and here's her story (because I wanna post art about her and still have her separate from my Bug OC) :
!Its long!
I started university this year and the course I'm taking, Digital Arts, has a lot of Creative minds in it. So at some point throughout the year, D&D was bound to be brought up. And around February, when we were talking about gameplay with narratives, a friend of mine noted he was a Dungeon Master(DM).
This intrigued a bunch of us as we've never played D&D before but would really like to try it out. And thus this is how her story begins.
I've always seen D&D characters and I found them very neat. So for my first character, our DM suggested we make them based loosely on ourselves. So I decided on being a bard, cause I like music and my bard plays the flute because I always wanted to learn.
The name Ulysses, as I've mentioned before, derived from Odysseus and Ody because let me be real, EPIC: The Musical had and still has me hook, line and sinker. So more musical elements! Mmmm delicious 😋 Because how more can I play into being musical than an actual alternative name from a guy in a musical number. I'm so good with playing on words😏
The surname Crowsong came from a Pinterest name generator originally but later I was further inspired by a YouTuber I like, Louixie. Louixie has a warrior cat OC named Crowsong who is a white she-cat with black crow feathers in her fur. You can see where I'm going with this😂 The idea of white and feathers stuck which lead me to her origin story/ back story for the campaign
Ulysses was born with striking white hair and bi-coloured eyes (blue and brown), which to her parents, seemed like a bad omen. So they abandoned her in a snowy forest with hopes that the cold would take her. Luckily before anything bad happened, an arctic fox found her due to her soft cries. Seeing the white hair and hearing the cries, the fox took Ulysses in thinking it was one of her own cubs. Ulysses then grew up with the foxes up until around the age of 10 before they got hunted for their beautiful white pelts during hunting season.
Having been stripped of her second family, Ulysses didn't know what to do. She wandered the forest for a few days until she stumbled across a small town. The first building she walked into just so happened to be the tavern. The tavern keeper tried to ask her where she came from but because she grew up with foxes she only knew Fox Tongue and not Common. So the tavern keeper took her in, educating Ulysses on all she needs to know about being human.
As the years go by, Ulysses is 16 years of age and a entertainer for the tavern. A bard as the tavern keeper called it. Ulysses, after 6 years of hearing thrilling stories from adventurers that entered the tavern, she wanted to seek out an adventure of her own.
She thanked the tavern keeper for everything they've done for her and set out on her own to write her own story and sing their tales.
Her first year of travel was quite difficult as she had to turn to not so good actions. From stealing food to conning passing nobleman of some of their gold, she had it a bit rough. But hey! On the plus side, she now has an awesome set of fake fox ears and a tail to put a show on with!
Which eventually leads us to the start of the campaign a year later in the lore where she meets the rest of the party members who she'll go on adventures with!
The Dwarve Rogue; Torin
The Human 'Fighter'; Dorian Braveheart
The Dark Elf Wizard; Idriss
And the Elf 'Monk'; Shiloh
And that's the back story!
I've described a general on how Ulysses' looks but here's a better description:
She has snow white hair, usually seen with 2 blue feathers tied to the left side and 2 hair bunches tied on either side of her face to frame it. She's got heterochromia, a right brown eye and a left blue eye. She's got freckles and pointy canines.
She wears a black, long sleeve turtle neck, a brown corset, brown tights and black calve length snow boots/uggs. She wears 2 belts, 1 around her waist to carry her short sword and 1 around her left thigh to carry her metal flute. Before the campaign she wore a short brown cloak but now she has a long black cloak.
That's about it!
Thanks for reading this if you did! Means a lot to me😚😚
Now I can post D&D Ulysses art✨✨

Hi! I saw your post mentioning crystal foxes and I was wondering what they looked like? I think I saw some pelts up for sale on Etsy that were crystal foxes but I thought they were dyed. They’re the brownish ones right?
Yes Crystal foxes are not natural.
They can be made from Silver, Blue Frost or Blue arctic fox. Used is some kind of chemical to lighten the underfur to brown, but keep some of the darker guard hairs and white tips. I suspect the top picture is altered, I’ve never seen ones this pretty anywhere else.
I think it looks nice especially on Silver fox. Not many tanneries offer this kind of treatment though.

[FULL] for sender to tell/let receiver see that they're wearing a plug. / ok what if this is an extension of the rosie naked chores meta.
-
Cruelty. It is cruel, the effect that Zahrosa knows she has on Artemis. All too often she takes advantage of the remarkably little restraint the Goddess has when it comes to faculties of the body. It is particularly a nuisance when Artemis is actually trying to get things done like today.
She sits among piles of furs and pelts, string and thread and needles held between her fingers and lips while she continues stitching through the pieces she holds. There is already one large parka fashioned from scratch draped over the chair, but this one looks to be a good deal smaller. Much too small for Artemis, and even too small for the thin frame of the witch. It seemed that this one was meant to be child-sized. What was more, the interior lining was a pattern decorated with minks, Arctic fox and whales.
Artemis just lays down the fabric to give her aching fingertips a rest when Zahrosa walks into view through the window. Her pale skin is nearly luminous with the sunlight, and the Goddess briefly lapses in attention enough to drop and promptly lose one of the needles. She starts cursing, moving around, trying to find it on the floor before it stabs her somewhere inconvenient—and the door to the garden opens and closes.
She stops and forgets about the needle again when her sorceress pauses to refill the watering can. There, nestled neatly between her cheeks, were two lovely plugs. The needles are promptly forgotten about and make little tinkering noises as the rest fall to the floor. Artemis crosses the space quickly enough to press the blonde into the counter from behind.
"Every time I think I have been sated of you—" Artemis mutters while she ducks to bite at Zahrosa's neck, "I find another reason to take you all over again."
She uses her hips to keep Zahrosa pinned in place, chuckling, first biting then licking a downright possessive, lewd stripe up her neck. Her hand first slides just above the blonde's pubic bone teasingly, then around her hip to her lower back where it descends and plays with one of the plugs. She pushes it in further at first, then back out, slowly fucking her ass with the bulbous object. Thick cum slowly leaks every time she moves it from their earlier entanglement. Zahrosa did have a penchant for keeping it inside of her.
Artemis opts to spin her lover around, then, only to reach down once more between her legs. She slowly pulls out the larger plug from the blonde's cunt with a slick squelching sound. The same white, sticky substance begins to drip freely from her open entrance down the length of Zahrosa's legs.
All the huntress does is bring the cum-soaked plug to her lips and slowly lick up the length of it while staring directly at Zahrosa. She continues holding the plug in her hand, wet and sticky, while she presses forward and takes her sorceress into a long, languid kiss.
The plug gets deposited onto the counter. Artemis pulls away and promptly turns, returning to the pile of pelts on the floor. She goes back to sewing, having found the needle, humming and smiling to herself as if nothing had happened.
