Archive Yahoo Email with two method: - Automated and Manual Method
Yahoo is the third largest webmail service in the world. But he announced in December 2016 that about 1 billion accounts had been hacked. If a Yahoo account is hacked, this will lead to more serious problems such as identity theft and other security and privacy intrusions that could affect the account holders ' finances and reputation. It is always essential for customers in case of e-mail hacking to keep the backup beforehand.
Yahoo being a famous mail provider also faces many problems when archiving Yahoo Mail on a hard drive. This article will help you archive Yahoo Mail on hard drive / Flash Drive / external drive.
Tumblr media
First of all, we need to know why we need to archive Yahoo Mail on a hard drive, flash drive or any other external drive.
Why do we archive Yahoo emails on the hard drive?
Even though Yahoo has a very good data management system for users, Yahoo sometimes fails and problems occur in Yahoo mail in such a way that users can not even access their mail. Sometimes these Yahoo Mail problems affect user data. Therefore, I will suggest that you save your files so that there are no problems with your data. Let's see what problems can affect this e-mail client.
E-mail overflow
Yahoo hacked
Yahoo Mail access problem
From the above problems, users must save Yahoo messages. So let's see what solutions can be found to archive Yahoo e-mails on the hard drive.
How to archive in Yahoo Mail?  There are two methods:
Manual method
Automated method
Manual method to archive Yahoo Mail on a hard disk
First, copy all the items in the  mailbox and paste them into the word, then save them.
In addition, you can save a single  email from Yahoo to one local drive at a time.
Using POP / IMAP settings, you can  access Yahoo e-mails in any other mail client.
It is possible to forward e-mails  to another account by adding a different e-mail address.
Manual method to configure Yahoo  Mail to another mail client and backup
The procedure consists of two   steps that you can perform by downloading your Yahoo Mail folders to the USB / Flash drive.
The following steps are described  below:
Set up your Yahoo mail account on  another mail client (say Thunderbird / Outlook))
Move Mail Files to an Outlook / Thunderbird account or Save Yahoo MAIL directly to your local system.
You can use the offline mode by MS Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird. But I'll offer to bring a backup to your  schema for a secure side. This will help you access your messages when  needed in any mail client. You can also read the procedure for adding  Yahoo mail to Outlook / Thunderbird.
Make sure to configure your Yahoo  mailbox with the POP account type to archive / delete messages from Yahoo Mail. And just drag and drop emails from one folder to another from the generated Yahoo Mail folder to other mail users.
This method is a bit long and users usually make errors to configure Yahoo mail to mail clients from Outlook / Thunderbird. Suggested, therefore, to opt for the automated solution. Let's see how this automated solution works to archive Yahoo Mail Files on the hard drive.
Limitations of the manual method:
It becomes difficult to save one by one in case of bulk messages. Saving Yahoo messages to a hard drive will take a long time.
If you are sending e-mails to another account, both accounts must be processed simultaneously.
In any other mail client, you can  access Yahoo messages using the POP / IMAP settings.
You can send e-mails to another account by adding e-mail addresses separate.
Automated Solution
You can use the Mail Backup X software to archive Yahoo emails on the hard drive. This is a secure solution to back up and convert your data without interfering with the original hierarchy of your data. In addition, it allows users to export emails and other data from the Yahoo profile to another Yahoo profile.

How do you like tumblr in comparison to other fandom gathering spaces?
--
Excellent question.
When I first came here from LJ, I wasn't impressed. As you can tell from my own tumblr, I'm very text-oriented when it comes to fandom platforms, and tumblr isn't really tailored to that. I'm a highly visual person, so I've ended up enjoying that aspect of tumblr over time, but it's not really what I'm looking for in terms of fandom.
For years, conventional wisdom among people nostalgic for LJ was that Tumblr denizens didn't care about meta and that meta as a fandom activity was dead—or at least, you couldn't make a name for yourself writing it.
As of these last few years, I've been more popular than I've ever been in fandom before, my fiction writing has been going better than ever before, and I've made some friends via Tumblr.
At the same time, I'm enjoying the move to Discord. It reminds me of the height of Yahoo Groups, when people posted to archives for longevity but did a lot of their socializing in private, both on locked lists and in realtime chat.
I very much disliked the LJ model of having the fic right in with the blog posts. I'm glad we've gone back to the older model of separation, at least for the polished final versions of fics. (Serialization on mailing lists was common, but people generally compiled the whole thing and posted it to sites afterwards.)
I like threaded comments and pagination, but tumblr's general lack of comment thread features has clearly not held me back.
Overall, I find tumblr very similar to other fandom platforms.
Fandom's major homes have routinely had terrible and broken features, LJ most definitely included. It's the community and how people adapt sites to something far from their intended purposes that give that continuity of feeling.
Anything that allows longform content is good. Anything that requires soundbites rather than just encouraging them culturally is hot garbage. Tiktok is obviously a cesspit, though for a thousand reasons in addition to this one. Twitter will always suck because its structure makes it easy for randos to find one, and its post length encourages a lack of nuance. People will forever be forced to rub shoulders with people they don't like and don't understand.
Tumblr lacks privacy features, but it's so hard to find fucking anything that there's less of that danger. Also, the only celebrities who actually maintain much of a presence here are weird tumblr gremlins themselves. Any space as full of starfuckers as twitter or instagram is poison.
So in the end, I've turned out to like tumblr quite a lot. The tumblr era is equaling the LJ era and the mailing list era for me. And now we pair it with AO3 instead of my past loves like MediaMiner that now look pretty crappy in comparison.

I dunno if everyone is aware of the Open Doors Project by the OTW (AO3 people)
We are the Open Doors project, dedicated to offering shelter to at-risk fannish content. We have several subprojects and rescue efforts aimed at archiving and preserving different kinds of fanworks and artifacts of fan culture. Our mission is to preserve fanworks for the future while respecting their creators.
I bring this up because fanfic has been a tricky subject for the Vampire Chronicles fandom and there are probably some old, small, or underground collections of fanworks out there from while Anne Rice was being threatening. If anyone knows of these, now would be a great time to let Open Doors know about them!!
Basically, this lets old fanworks be imported to AO3 while crediting their original authors and making them searchable by original collection/location
Especially with the Wayback Machine under threat, it would be great if we could get anything that's out there to safety! Open Doors also works to preserve print fanworks like zines or formats like yahoo mailing lists

Author Interview
Tagged by the illustrious @a-shakespearean-in-paris
1. how many works do you have on AO3?
125 (my god, so many)
2. what’s your total AO3 word count?
507,692
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Used to write for Dragon Ball Z and Red Dead Redemption 2. Now I just write for Baldur's Gate 3.
4. what are your top five fics by kudos?
One and Only (RDR2)
Getting Into Character (RDR2)
Something New (RDR2)
Know Your Place (RDR2)
Your Hearth Is My Home (BG3)
5. do you respond to comments?
Yeah, I try to respond to most of them, although sometimes when it's just one word, I'm not sure what to say, haha.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably Midnight Rendezvous, and that one isn't even that angsty because I wrote a sequel to give Arthur x Reader a happy ending, haha.
7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
The majority of my fics have a happy ending (wink wink nudge nudge). But seriously, which would I say has the absolute happiest? Hmmm... Probably The Light That You Shine, which is my only John Marston x Reader fic, strangely enough. I think I put the characters through some shit and they come out very happy at the end.
8. do you get hate on fics?
Not that I'm aware of?
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
Do I write smut? HAH. I write nothing BUT smut, my dear. Well, with a few exceptions. As for what kind of smut? Not sure how to answer that. I write between canon characters and between canon character & reader, and I've got some OC x OC stuff too. Or is the question more like what genre of smut? I've probably written most kinds (soft & gentle, hard & rough, and everything in between).
10. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
Well. I could lie and say I don't. But unfortunately in high school I wrote a DBZ-Sailor Moon-YYH crossover, and I regret its existence.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of...
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope! But if someone wanted to do it, they have my blessing!
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, with the wonderful @shootybangbang
14. what’s your all-time favourite ship?
Hmmmm.... All-time, you say. I'd have to say... probably Vegeta x Bulma. Even after all this time.
15. what’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a OC x Arthur fic that I really liked making the story for, but it'll forever live as a few drabbles cobbled together. Oh Grace, you'll never get a full fic and I'm sorry.
16. what are your writing strengths?
I've been told that I know when to summarize plot points so that the story doesn't drag on for too long. Also I've been told that my smut writing is some of the best, for its clarity and hotness. I'll accept that compliment, haha!
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
Not descriptive enough at times. The most comments I get on my Google docs from my friends are "elaborate more on this point". Totally fair! And personally, I think I have the writer's equivalent of 'same face syndrome' that some artists have. Like my "reader" character tends to be pretty same-y through a lot of my Arthur x Reader fics...
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
If a character is using another language, I try to make sure that there is a reason for it, that it isn't just for flair. For example, if I have a character blurt something out in another language suddenly, then it means they've been thrown off guard and are going back to their first language. Or if two characters are speaking another language together, then they're either hiding something from others, or they grew up that way and are falling back to old habits.
19. first fandom you wrote for?
Oof, I had to go back to some archived files to figure this out. Probably Yu Yu Hakusho, back in 1999, although I suspect I had some older fics in the Gundam Wing fandom, but I don't have any digital evidence of them, I think they were on a GW Mailing List from Yahoo, of all places.
20. favourite fic you’ve written?
The one I'm writing right now :D (Your Heart is My Home)

I remember when I used to read twilight fics in ff back in like 2009 😂
I remember reading Romione Fanfic over yonder. It was the best thing since sliced bread. But back then it wasn't the only option. You had so many different archives, yahoo groups, mailing lists and so forth. It was a wild time but I remember it all really fondly. It's sad that ff.net is kind of neglected and a stepchild these days...

When Should You Declare Bankruptcy? (On Your Email!)
When to declare bankruptcy.
If you have 525,600 emails in your inbox, you may feel hopeless. Maybe a nuke and pave is your best option.
If someone is hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt and they have no way of paying it off, sometimes bankruptcy is the only way.
Let’s be clear: Email bankruptcy is not even close to the seriousness of actual bankruptcy. For most people, deleting all emails and starting over is not the end of the world.
Sure, Aunt Edith might bring up the fact that she emailed you a cat video last summer, and you never responded. If an email’s been around for more than a month, it’s probably not helpful.
For some, hitting delete and starting over is not only the best solution, but if sets you free from the past (and email bankruptcy affects nothing. Your credit score is intact. You just might have lost some clout from Aunt Edith.)
For others — hitting delete on moths, or sometimes, years of email can be as scary as bungee jumping from the Burj Khalifa. If that’s you, here are some less scary options:
Pay for SaneBox
Seriously. I know some people don’t want to spend money on apps. But this one is worth spending a little something on. What will happen when you set this up will astound you. My guess is that at least half (probably more!) of your 525,600 emails will get moved to your later or news folders. With a bit of training, the basic Sanebox set up will put only the email you care about in your inbox. It’s a serious electronic mail lifesaver. (Use this link for signing up and you get $5 off, which is basically a free month, and I do too.)
Let your old address go to seed
If you've still got a dinosaur email from Yahoo, Hotmail, or AOL (anybody still got a Juno or MindSpring account?), this one's for you. Right now, Gmail's the best free email around. While, I’m not a huge Google fan, Gmail has some basic features I talk about in this book (including the ability to “snooze”, automated “newsletter” folders — and has excellent archive and search functions.) and it costs you nothing. Set up a Gmail account that is as close to your name as you can get and begin using that as your main personal point of contact. You can keep your old address, but slowly stop checking it. Use that address for a signup address to keep unwanted spam out of your new one. (Gmail is pretty good at detecting spam. In fact, sometimes it’s too good. Be sure to check your spam folder frequently in the beginning, as I’ve found it to be sometimes a little aggressive.).
Letting an old address “go to seed” is sometimes a better way to get out of email debt without going full on nuclear and blowing up the whole thing.
Search and Destroy
The search function with most email clients is fantastically fast now. Don't want to go too wild with deleting? Check out your inbox and find the biggest offenders and delete those. If Billy Bob Appliances from three towns over keeps sending you three emails a day about their never-ending fire sale, do a search and destroy. Type “Billy Bob” in your browser, select all, and delete. This takes some time if you t have a lot, but can provide some precision before eliminating everything.
Be a Liberal Archiver
If “delete” is still freaking you out, remember you can archive everything. Archive your whole inbox. It’s fine. Do it now.
You’re losing nothing. Everything is still searchable. It’s all there. If you have a limited storage capacity, this might not be the best solution for you, as you may eventually run out of space. But email storage is cheap and this might be a suitable solution for anyone with email FOMO (fear of missing out).
Declare Bankruptcy
You may be done. Out of storage. Out of patience. Out of caring anymore.
At that point of frustration, email bankruptcy may be your best option. Elect all and delete. If you need to do so, empty your trash and start fresh. You might need to let a few people know that their old email is gone. Please send again. But most will be no worse off.
If you decide this is your best option, like financial bankruptcy, you want to put systems into place to prevent yourself from over going there again. I use the strategy and tactics of the Growability® Inbox method. It works. My inbox is empty nearly every day.
Let me know if you’re interested. I would love to coach you through it.
It’s possible.
You can do this.
You are doing better than you think. You have more potential than you know.
Book Bonus
I am currently in the middle of three books, some of you might find of interest:
Wool by Hugh Howey: This is a gripping story. Well written. Fast-paced. I picked this up because I thought the trailer for the upcoming AppleTV series looks great. But I usually like to read before I watch.
The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood by James Gleick: I read an article this week about AI being the sunset of the Information Age and the beginning of the Intelligence Age. History will determine this sometime in the future. Gleick’s work is really a masterpiece, in that it’s a well-researched history of information. Which one would think to be a snoozer. But I am finding it both entertaining and fascinating.
The 1-Page Marketing Plan by Allan Dib: Sure. It’s basically how to build simple a sales funnel. But the “simple” part is good. I like things that have been distilled (and that’s more than just a good bourbon). That said, if want the most straightforward way for building a sales funnel that integrates with the rest of your business/nonprofit, I think you need Growability®. :-)

Been getting back into Star Trek after binge-watching it with my dad as a kid, and stumbled across the - ahem - "encounter" between Data and the Borg queen in Star Trek: First Contact. (I really didn't remember those scenes like this lmao.)
Soo, being a Data fan who does find him very aesthetically pleasing, I went to look for shippy fanfics involving those characters, and I gotta say, I was really surprised to find a total of 3 fanfics on AO3 that have their tag, and also just a few on FFnet, and none on a fanfic site in my language (then again searching stuff there is a fucking nightmare because people really aren't too great at tagging stuff accurately).
I hope this doesn't come across as whiny and complain-y, I will probably write about them at some point, once I'm past starting a new semester at university and have more time.
Basically just came here to say that I am quite surprised that there are such few fanfics about them (or that I'm just too stupid to find more, which is very likely lol), since they're technically temporarily canon, and I wonder if it's just because of the context and its kinda sorta dubious consent or if it just happens to not be on that many people's minds and there not being too many people who like the ship enough to write about it. (I am guessing the latter, since I also don't write about stuff that I don't think about heh.)
(Then again, I do tend to ship rarepairs and often pairs that are considered problematic for whatever reason, and where shippers get shit for shipping and writing fanfics. Though I don't know if this particular pairing is considered terribly problematic or not. Have read youtube comments on their scenes, and many people there absolutely despised their scenes and found it disgusting that there weren't more comments saying the scenes were disgusting lol. Also, kinda unrelated, but one of my favourite ships is Hotch/Reid from Criminal Minds, and I just recently read that there are quite some people on reddit who hate that ship because "bla healthy father figure bla - he's his dad not his daddy - bla" and use nasty words to describe shippers, but I am very glad that there are lots of fun fanfics for these two nonetheless, ha! :D)
Sorry for babbling for so long, it's half past one, and I should stop rambling at your inbox and get some sleep. Have a nice day/night!
--
Ahahaha. No, it being problematic is not why.
It's far, far more likely there's none (or none that's easily findable) because the bulk of the fandom activity around TNG was around later seasons of the show. Maybe the Riker/Troi and Crusher/Picard shippers were more into early seasons, IDK. But a sequel movie that lots of people didn't even like or didn't even see is not going to be the source of the big ships in a TV fandom.
On top of that, a lot of the shipping patterns get set relatively early in a fandom. Sometimes, a character shows up later and changes the fandom a lot (Methos, Castiel), but often, many fans stick with how they saw things towards the beginning of canon.
Adding to that is the fact that the number of fic writers in 1996 was vastly smaller than now. Spaces also weren't always set up to accommodate rarepairs or rare fandoms. A lot of archives and lists were topic-specific, and that topic could be one single juggernaut ship.
If there was fic, I suppose it was probably on Usenet or a mailing list. The great era of fannish archives was in the 00s. This movie came out in 1996. Perhaps we even grabbed a relevant list in our attempts to save yahoo groups' data, but it's definitely not going to still be up with an easily googleable set of contents.

Mac Gmail backup facility with no extra efforts on the clients’ part
To carry Gmail backup is quite important if you wish to keep your data secure. It is the methodology that you choose for the same that would determine how the experience goes for you. Before you decide on which facilities you want in the Gmail backup software you should first have thorough information about the mail account, get it here- . Avoid using a freeware as it can cause harm to your precious data and thus cause irrevocable damage.
Tumblr media
How to Gmail backup that is regularly effective on a long term?
The Gmail backup tool that can provide the same facility to other mail clients as well- Mail Backup X is the best every software you will come across for mail backup as well as archiving. It has got several superb inbuilt qualities that keep the mail backup process quite smooth and free of hassles. Everyone can try out the software for free for Gmail email backup as a free demo version of it available here.
Gmail backup facility relevant for other mail clients as well
This software functions quite well as a Gmail backup software as well as for other major mail clients. It can be used to backup and archive data from Gmail as well as Hotmail, yahoo mail, apple mail, outcook, postbox and thunderbird. It  can also be used to change the format of the data files of these mail clients as it is compatible with them all. It can be thus used to change the format of the data files to and from .eml, .rge, .pst, .olm and .mbox. This makes it quite easy to share data to various platforms.
Auto-USB backup and inbuilt ftp client
The data files stored in usb cables can be automatically updated by this software as it smartly remembers the data folder name and its location in the database. To enhance the safety of the data after the backup they are saved in the pdf form. That procedure also makes them altogether safer and more shareable. Also, they are stored in the proper sequential order so that it does not get tough to find them.
It is possible to carry both primary backup and mirror backup with this software as it comes with an inbuilt ftp client. Keeping that tool active makes it easier to have a copy of all the data ready as it keeps arriving in the system.
Intrinsic ability to save storage space and to find data files instantly
While backing up your data this software also makes sure that you never run out of storage space. It religiously backs up your data, but also makes sure that the files are compressed before being stored. Also, it gets easier for the users to find out data files as there is an ultra-fast data search facility available with it which is also relevant for complex files.
You can get either the free demo version from the link below, and later upgrade to the full version or get the full version directly from the link below www.mailbackupx.com/make-backup-of-gmail-emails/.

The Great Purges are a lot more diverse than this might lead one to believe.
There was a lot of written interactions between creative people across forums and the precursors to what would become social media. LiveJournal often gets cited. There's too many MUDs and MUCKs to name, but they were like Discord is today; the IRC channels are important to note as well.
All of that goes back to the Mail Lists or the List Servers. Also called the Usenet. This is the basis of the Bulletin Board System or the BBS networks.
One of the historically important archives is the ASSTR and ASSM AKA alt.sex.stories.
The Usenet archives that were ran by and for fans gave rise to an explosion of other archives. The reason for this is many and varied, but in virtually every case, it came down to persecution of various classes of smut writers being outcast from that specific group. Furries were for example driven out of many of those early groups, so they went on to form their own ecosystem of archives leading to things like Miavir's Treasure Chest of Assorted Furriness (furry.de) and much later to FurAffinity. Divisions that occurred within ASSTR and ASSM over what content was allowed and not allowed lead to the subdivision of those into ever finer subcultures where some of them eventually migrated over to entirely new domains as old servers ceased to operate or the community became overwhelmed by and taken over by hostile invaders.
The Great Purges generally coincide with the Great Flame Wars (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flaming_(Internet)#History). Right wingers have a tendency to gather into posses that then roam around looking for communities to take over or destroy. Often they start out by attaching themselves to the fringe of the community and seeking to either turn people to their side or to inject their political messaging into the community in a process akin to laundering. Eventually, they target vulnerable moderators and administrators, and they seek to replace them; these tactics can result in them outright buying the businesses where the content/community is hosted, buying the domain name when/if it lapses, paying outsourced labor to commit hacks and gross criminal acts from jurisdictions that are functionally or practically immune to prosecution, and so on.
Musk's take over of Twitter is just one of the largest examples of these kinds of purges and the tactics used in them. A precursor to all that was Yahoo and Verizon's takeover of Tumblr. Russia's takeover of LiveJournal predated that. I'm sure that there's some people that have made their entire career writing PhD theses about this topic that would give a much more thorough breakdown of the history and actors involved, but it is a huge and important part of the Internet history going back to the 1980s at least. I can't even begin to do justice to the purges that effected sex workers especially queer survival sex workers of color, but the great purges effected almost every single one of those online communities eventually.
AO3 was a rare moment in which a bunch of fans from a bunch of fandoms and from a ton of different defunct communities came together and responded sensibly to the existential threat posed to us all.
We should all learn from our elders in the AO3. Their response has been by far the best of all the organizational responses formulated so far. I think we could even update their response or supplement it with California's cooperative corporation laws that were passed in 2016; the cooperative corporation laws allow for hybridized structures that have many of the strengths of traditional non-profits with some of the advantages of profit-enabled structures.
Learn your history, plan your future, and participate in your community. It is vitally important that you do.
purge of 2002? of 2012? what ARE those?
Oh, how quickly the past is forgotten.
They are part of the reason A03 is a thing now. Not the whole reason, but part of it.
The Great Purges of 2002 and 2012 are when ff.net got a wild hair up their ass about THINK OF THE CHILDREN and nuked any fic posted on there that was explicit. Thousands upon thousands of nc-17 smutfics were lost.
It’s what led to the creation of alternate hosting sites for smutty fic…AdultFanfiction was the one I went to…but thousands of fics would never be recovered.
