If the Transformers characters belonged to a series about school, what kind of students or teachers would they be?

i'm actually working on a tfp college au right now, so i'll share some of my ideas here:

optimus - out of town country boy who moved to iacon for his master's degree in engineering and works in the library to help pay his tuition

ratchet - med school student gunning to be a neurosurgeon once he graduates; one of optimus' friends from back home

arcee - bumblebee's best friend and a business major who also kicks ass on the track and field team (she's also in the gaming club but she won't tell anyone that)

cliffjumper - arcee's boyfriend and majoring in history; currently in rotc

bumblebee - sophomore getting his bachelor's in environmental science, sees optimus like a big brother; head of the robotics club

bulkhead - junior in architecture while also a wide receiver on the football team

smokescreen - freshman getting his degree in engineering, also on the basketball team; has tutoring sessions with optimus

wheeljack - bulkhead's long term boyfriend at a different college studying computer programming

megatron - political science major and captain of the debate team; no war in this au so he isn't evil, but his intensity can freak people out

starscream - out of town rich kid majoring in biochemistry with hopes to join the medical field (also has a FAT crush on optimus but that's just me)

soundwave - quiet kid and megatron's close friend majoring in communication; has dirt on literally everyone at that college

shockwave - psychology major and member of the robotics club; tends to scare the shit out of everyone but soundwave

knock out - starscream's insufferable roommate and also on the medicine track; annoys the hell out of ratchet

breakdown - knock out's bf and majoring in english (i always hc that he's not as dumb as he seems); on the football team and has a friendly rivalry with bulkhead

airachnid - majoring in physical therapy and on the track team; chronic mean girl who has a not so friendly rivalry with arcee

I fucking love all your g1 redesigns of the ladies (seriously! They’re a perfect mix of their og designs and something that can actually transform!) and I’m really curious if you’re gonna do Greenlight and Lancer??? No pressure intended, just curious and if not that’s totally cool :)

(In reference to this WIP of mine.) These redesigns have been a really fun exercise in silhouette/shape language, and I’m mostly proud of what I ended up with.

As for what characters I plan to do next, this is unfortunately the end of Autobot ladies! In the end, I’m designing for the main cast of my AU, and I don’t have more space :')

That’s not the end for the Transformers ladies though! For my Decepticon cast, I’m planning to draw Nightbird, Slipstream, and Strika, so you can look forward to that 👌

are optimus and ratchet robot husbands??? i know that's pretty popular with the general transformers public

who's in the government that's keeping an eye on team prime? you said that this au is gonna be inspired off prime and animated, does that mean agent fowler is gonna show up? or that detective guy from animated??

also! what are the relationships like between the members of team prime? do ratchet and wheeljack get on each other's nerves?? not a smart move revealing yourself to the humans jack

and i assume starscream is still trying to take over the deceptions. never gonna win screamy ... never gonna win ... also love the design! he's so scrungly and looks like he needs years worth of therapy 😆😅

Hi anon!! Don’t apologize for the long question, I’m so happy to get them!!

As for your first question, yes, Ratchet and Optimus are old (not so secret) husbands!

The two were sparkbonded in secret just before the war. When Optimus became a Prime, he was no longer allowed things like selfishness. The act of sparkbonding as a Prime is considered a disgrace, so the two kept it secret through the entire war. (Now on earth, they still have not told anyone, but literally everyone on Team Prime can tell and just chooses not to say anything.)

Director Fowler oversees the Autobots’ operations, though he is mostly behind the scenes. The official (by the time of “canon”) liaison for the Autobots is actually Rafael! In my AU, he has been friends of the Autobots since he was a kid. He hacked into government files when he was young, accidentally finding out about them. He managed to convince everyone to let him work with them, long story short, and has grown up with them! He’s about twenty in my AU.

Team Prime, while most of them won’t say it out loud, consider each other family. Bumblebee is the youngest, and is basically the little brother to the group. (Also canonically Optimus’ adopted son.) He and First Aid are besties. First Aid is like the calm and collected older cousin of the group. They’re not only able to patch up physical wounds, but is great at talking sense into everyone and mending emotional problems as well. Wheeljack is the goofy but cool uncle of the function. He gets along pretty well with the other bots! He’s only a little anxious around First Aid, since he almost blew them up once. Arcee is actually more of the problematic one. She’s a bit hotheaded, while closed off at the same time. Her and Ratchet butt heads pretty often. Ratchet is pretty snappy and moody to everyone, but he truly does care about all of them deeply.

And yes, Starscream is plotting to overthrow Megatron someday. Just don’t tell anyone. That doesn’t already know. Most already know.

Where's Arcee and Elita-1?

I know Arcee is slaying as usual while Elita-1 is literally slaying enemies.

Arcee has a tendency to bully Bumblebee, so we try to keep them apart.

And Elita bullies Optimus.

Prowl is like a Barbie doll in those deranged stories that little girls come up. We like to watch him fuck up, break apart, before putting himself back together only for a hammer of his own making to shatter him to pieces again. Though, that's mostly for IDW and Fanon Prowl.

Simply put, he's a fun character to play around with mentally. Is he funny? No. But it's satisfying to throw him around like a yo-yo.

Amazing variety of povs im receiving abt prowl. Dont you guys think tat maybe, just maybe, he deserves some stability in his life /hj

I think for the TFP Hot Rod AU, he would 100% be freaking out the second he's on the Nemesis. He wants to be NOWHERE near that slaggin ship and would be dead silent the entire time they're interrogating him and getting the omega key while he's trying to think of a plan.

Granted, he'd be resistant and would smack talk a little but he's not about to risk getting blasted in the face.

He absolutely would!! Imagine waking up to Knockout’s creepy “wakey wakey” and finding you’re helpless while Megatron himself is interrogating you for the omega key you didn’t even know you were carrying 😭 Even more reasons he doesn’t want to be anywhere on the Nemesis.

Plus the cortisol psychic patch they do afterwards! Poor Roddy would be so traumatized from Megatron rooting around in his memories.

Kinda off topic to but: I think Hot Rod would probably have much more self esteem issues than Smokes, most of it stemming from his outlier ability. Imagine growing up, and as cool as his outlier may be to some people, others may also look/interact with him with judgement, or flat out refuse to interact with him because of his outlier altogether (or worse, bullying like “don’t touch him or he’ll set you on fire”, etc).

Hence here on Earth, it’s another reason why Hot Rod loves that the kids are so awed by his outlier so much!! Heck, they’re even showing him movies where “human outliers” are featured as cool and unique!

That said, the part where Arcee would yell at him for not being a team player (leading to his capture), specifically with the “Stop trying to be the hero, and start being an Autobot” line would drag up those ol’ self esteem issues up again, because it implies he never had “Autobot qualities” to begin with. A total punch in the gut that 1000% explains why he’ll run away.

gods. this sounds so nice honestly. just all of team prime getting high and cuddly, watching a movie and wanting turns snuggling their favorite human, not worrying about anything for a while.

definitely the touchiest is bulkhead. he's already a big hugger, and high bulkhead is no exception. he's giving you hugs and letting you rest on his belly as he cracks jokes and laughs at the movie.

ratchet is surprisingly touchy. he'll groan about organics normally, but then fuss when bulkhead hogs you. he wants some attention, too! (optimus and ratchet end up leaning on each other and getting all snuggly, it's adorable.)

arcee's pretty chill, chatting with bumblebee even though his beep boops are slurring and becoming nearly incomprehensible. she'll start beep booping back at him, which gets them both laughing.

honestly it's just goofiness all around. it's nice, not having to worry about decepticons for a while, just enjoying each other's company and getting cuddly with their favorite human.

First Aid- I'm the oldest! I'm 15,406!! I think compared to a human... I'd be 16? We live for a long time.

Springer- I'm just a few years younger. 15,398

Springer- she was found in the Wastelands back on Cybertron, remember? She doesn't even remember who her creators were.

Bumblebee- I'm 18,235, so compared to a human, I think I'd be 19.

Arcee- didn't Aid say he was the oldest? He lied again.

Bumblebee- it's because he's insecure about it. I mean, he's the smallest of us, besides Roddy and Illy, and thats just because those two are babies. He's second oldest. Roddy is 5,257. So compared to a human... I think he'd be like 6? And illusion... I think they're 4,000 something. So 5. Dont ask how ages work, Ratchet did the calculations and Im not good at math. Illy and their creators arrived on earth not too long ago, so we don't know them all that well.

Arcee- They don't like us.

Springer- I don't think it's that. They just seem really shy. Remember when my carrier introduced me to you guys? I was so scared!

Arcee- yeah, it was kinda cute!

Bumblebee- I mean... if I remember correctly, when Windblade and Chromia first brought you to base after finding you, you were also pretty shy.

Arcee- because I was somewhere strange and new! I was what, barely 8,000?

Bumblebee- yeah, can't blame you for that.
