There is a bit of debate in our house as to who is responsible for the anomaly. I argue that the anomaly is created by Jayce and Victor’s actions, specifically Victor going through space, time, and dimensions to give Jayce the various runes, with the acceleration rune research being the origin of the anomaly. In the end Jayce and Victor are the anomaly and they cancel it out by removing themselves from the board. But others in our home believe the anomaly that exists in “our piltover” is caused by Ekko creating the one in the “other piltover” and in creating it in the other it simply came into existence across all time and space. I think Ekko’s z drive connects to the anomaly but is not the source of it.

I agree with you. Specifically, I see the anomaly as the creation of Hextech.

Jayce and Viktor are not inherently anomalies. There are universes where Hextech doesn’t exist (see: S2E7), but they as individuals do. But they are anomalies in that their existence is tied to Hextech— Jayce would not be alive if not for it, nor Viktor who is now intrinsically merged with it. Similarly, Ekko’s Z-drive is also considered an anomaly because it would not exist if not for Hextech.

If Viktor had never saved child Jayce, Jayce would have died in the tundra, and Viktor would have succumbed to his disease. By constantly choosing to save each other, by refusing to give up on the other, Jayce and Viktor are the source for the anomaly. It’s only by removing themselves from existence and sacrificing themselves that they can truly save the timeline.
