KENO-AM station at today's 2780 Las Vegas Blvd S. – c. 1950
The first successful radio station in Las Vegas was KENO, founded by Las Vegas promotions pioneer Maxwell Kelch. KENO went on air 11/1/40, broadcasting from their original studio on the grounds of The Meadows resort. Operations moved in 1941 to a new, standalone building adjacent to El Rancho Vegas, to the south of the resort.
Kelch sold the station to a group of employees in '55. The partnership sold the station in '57 to a group headed by Gordon B. Sherwood. The station moved in '60, months prior to a fire that closed El Rancho Vegas. KENO is now the oldest radio station in Las Vegas, broadcasting in Spanish since the 2000s.

"Automation" and friends (1979), by Bill Tolar, Fantasy Factory division, Creative Systems Group Inc., Atlanta, GA. Bill Tolar and Tom Zaken treat us to a surreal tour of the Creative Systems robot factory in episode 1513 of Mister Rogers' Neighbourhood, "Robots & Remotes" (1983).
"Three years ago Bill Tolar and his management/engineering team at Creative Systems Group Inc. in Atlanta produced a cylindrical object with a domed head and dangling arms that ran on a car battery. As soon as Tolar and his team added a two-way wireless radio, they were in the promotional robot business, with a product that resembled R2D2 – the charismatic beeping robot of Star Wars fame.
Since then, the company, which designs and manufactures imaginative interiors for retail stores, has sold 350 remote-controlled robots at prices ranging from $6,000 to $15,000. Although he has competitors, Tolar, 33, claims his company's Fantasy Factory division, with 1981 sales of $700,000, is "the largest promotional robot factory in the world." Coca-Cola has bought about 250 of the robots for its bottlers to use in mall appearances and similar events. Other customers include Arby's Inc., Kimberly-Clark Corp., and the National Pecan Marketing Council.
The robots are intended to create goodwill by chatting spontaneously with the clientele at trade shows, grand openings, supermarkets, hospitals, and sporting events. Such friendliness, Tolar claims, helps to circumvent the barrier people usually erect between themselves and corporate advertising. "The general public likes to think the robot is real," he says.
Creative Systems was an outgrowth of several earlier Tolar ventures. In high school he and a friend formed T&R Odd Jobs, a sign-painting and custom furniture business. As an engineering student at Georgia Tech, he joined his older brother to form Spatial Effects, a company that built lighting equipment for nightclubs."
– Chatty Robot Sparked Design Firm's Success, Inc.com, April 1, 1982.

[ 📹 Intense Zionist airstrikes and firebelts targeted various parts of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning, with intense bombing and shelling concentratung on the Al-Rimal, Al-Zaytoun, Al-Daraj, Sheikh Radwan and Sheikh Ajlin neighborhoods of Gaza City, killing and wounding many dozens of Palestinian civilians.]
🇮🇱⚔️🇵🇸 🚀🚀🚀🏘️💥🚑 🚨
ZIONIST BOMBINGS OF RESIDENTIAL HOMES RAMP UP ONCE AGAIN ON 165TH DAY OF ISRAEL'S ONGOING GENOCIDE IN THE GAZA STRIP
On the 165th day of Israel's ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) committed a total of 9 new massacres of Palestinian families, resulting in the deaths of no less than 93 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and wounding another 142 others over the previous 24-hours.
According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, a number of civilian victims of Israel's bombing and shelling remain missing under the rubble of their homes as ongoing airstrikes and occupation soldiers continue to block local ambulance and civil defense crews from reaching them.
As the situation in the Gaza Strip continues to deteriorate, Zionist Internal Security Minister, Ben Gvir, an extremest ethno-centric colonial settler, has now armed over 100'000 Israeli colonists living in what is internationally-recognized as illegal settlements.
According to the Hebrew media, Ben Gvir brags about putting so many guns on the streets of Israel, telling reporters "this week, we reached a milestone at the National Security Ministry: The 100,000th citizen received their firearms license,” Ben Gvir told reporters while standing in front of a poster with an image of a handgun and the slogan “100K Israelis armed."
"In fact, out of 299,354 applications submitted since the war…more than 100,000 citizens have already been approved to arm themselves, because weapons save lives,” he added.
Meanwhile, at least 54 Zionist colonists raided Al-Aqsa Mosque today, with 10 days of Ramadan left, while under the protection of IOF soldiers.
According to local reporting, Israeli occupation forces enforced strict restrictions on visitors to the mosque, known as the third holiest site in the Islamic religion, and limiting the number of Palestinians allowed to visit it.
Far-right ethno-extremist Interior Minister, Ben Gvir, prevented thousands of worshippers from praying at the mosque, even as he issued hundreds of deportation decisions to Palestinian visitors, and demanded that Zionist colonists be allowed to storm the house of prayer.
Meanwhile, occupation bombing and shelling ramped up enormously once again, resulting in scores of casualties across the Gaza Strip.
Zionist forces continued its storming of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City for the second consecutive day, arresting more than 200 civilians and murdering in cold blood another 20 Palestinians inside the Hospital grounds.
Occupation Forces also murdered Brigadier Fayek Al-Mabhough, a Hamas official who was responsible for the coordination of humanitarian aid into the northern Gaza Strip.
Israeli air forces continued heavily bombing the neighborhood around Al-Shifa Hospital, in the al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City. Intense bombing and shelling concentrated on Al-Nasr and Al-Jalaa Streets, killing dozens of Palestinians, including 9 family members from the Arbi' family who's house was destroyed by an airstrike conducted by IOF fighter jets on Al-Jalaa Street.
Early on Tuesday morning, occupation warplanes bombed a residential building near the Samer Junction in Gaza City, killing a Palestinian woman and wounding at least three others, including children.
Similarly, Israeli aircraft bombarded a residential house in the vicinity of the Al-Matahin Junction, north of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.
At the same time, Zionist warplanes bombed the Alyan family home near the Haidar Abdel Shafi roundabout, to the west of Gaza City, as well as another civilian home near the Al-Mashal Foundation west of Gaza City, resulting in a number of casualties.
In yet another tragedy forced onto the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip, at least six civilians were killed as a result of Zionist warplanes bombing the Al-Amoudi family home in the Abu al-Amin area of the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, located in the north of Gaza City, while additional occupation airstrikes targeted the Al-Sabreen Mosque, as well as the Najm Tower, west of Gaza City.
Occupation fighter jets also bombarded the Tal al-Hawa and Sheikh Ajlin neighborhoods, west of Gaza City.
In another atrocity in northern Gaza, Zionist artillery bombed a group of civilians searching for food in Beit Hanoun, slaughtering 8 civilians and wounding a number of others.
Similarly, IOF fighter jets bombed the Al-Banna family home in Jabalia al-Balad, also in the northern Gaza Strip, tragically martyring at least 8 family members.
Another occupation airstrike targeted an aid warehouse located in the Jabalia Refugee Camp, also in the north of Gaza, killing two civilian employees.
Zionist forces also bombed a UNRWA center east of Jabalia, killing two in yet another war crime and severe violation of International humanitarian law.
The bombing still continues in various parts of the northern Gaza Strip, in particular in Gaza City, with a concentration of shelling targeting the Al-Rimal, Al-Daraj, Al-Zaytoun and Sheikh Radwan neighborhoods, while in central Gaza, Israeli artillery shelling targeted the north of the Nuseirat Camp, as well as the east of the Al-Bureij Refugee Camp.
Occupation aircraft also bombarded the residential home of the Al-Hajj family, west of the Nuseirat Refugee Camp, killing another six civilians and wounding several others.
Zionist artillery forces also targeted Bureij Municipal headquarters in the central Gaza Strip, martyring at least one citizen and wounding a number of others, while Israeli soldiers firing live bullets at civilians near Al-Rashid Street, opposite the city of Al-Zahra, killed one Palestinian and wounded another four others.
At the same time, at least 14 civilians were killed as a result of occupation airstrikes that targeted civilian homes and residential buildings in the city of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.
IOF aircraft launched a total of five bombing attacks in the Rafah area, beginning with an attack on the Al-Malahi family home on Al-Mudarreen Street, in the Al-Geneina neighborhood, east of Rafah, which injured one civilian, while the next airstrike targeted the Abu Al-Rous family home, killing a number of civilians.
Following those strikes, another Zionist airstrike targeted a civilian residence opposite the cemetery on Awni Dhair Street, murdering another three Palestinians, while another airstrike targeting an apartment in the Mohendessin Towers, in the Al-Zuhur neighborhood, north of Rafah, resulted in the martyredom of another three citizens.
The final airstrike in this bloody set of attacks targeted the Jargun family home in the Shaboura Camp, in central Rafah, which killed at least four Palestinian civilians according to local reports.
In Khan Yunis, also in the south of Gaza, local ambulance and civil defense crews said they'd recovered the bodies of three dead Palestinians from areas where Zionist forces recently withdrew.
As a result of Israel's ongoing war of genocide in the Gaza Strip, the endlessly rising death toll has risen in excess of 31'819 Palestinians killed, more than 25'000 of which being women and children according to the United States Pentagon, while another 73'934 others have been wounded since the beginning of the current round of Israeli aggression beginning on October 7th, 2023.

The Old Continent Arbis Expedition Record: An Account of an Audience with Betelgeuse, the Sixteenth Demon King.
-Betel and Rineyas sitting together. -The scribe records. -They ask for an explanation of what it means to be a Demon King.
Betelgeuse (Betel): Sixteenth Demon King of the Veda race (demons). Rineyas Van Ardenn Tardis: King of the Tardis Kingdom of the Huma (humans).
Allen Farrell: Biologist and an explorer, chosen as the youngest member of the First Old Continent Expedition. The recorder of this conversation.
(Chatting) "Oh, that's right, Rineyas. Your first child was just born, right? Congratulations." "Ah… thank you. I'm glad he was born healthy."
"When he's a bit older, why not bring him here for a visit? Reve could use a playmate. Since she can't leave this place, she'd be glad to see someone. Not like I can just go out and snatch up people for her to meet, right?"
"Lady Reve… Now that you mention it, it’s been quite a while since I last saw her. Is she well?"
"Same as always. She growls when she sees me."
"Haha. I see. Sounds like she's got plenty of energy. I'll bring my son for a visit once he's a bit older."
(More chatting)
The presence of this one… Betelgeuse… the Sixteenth Demon King…! (A bit overwhelming)
"Hey, you there, the scribe? Or should I call you a recorder?" "Yes, you. Come here."
"Oh, you're nervous. Relax~ I'm not going to eat you. Where else would you find a demon king as human-friendly as me?"
"Haha, I think so too." (Rineyas)
"Anyway, that's right. The former Demon King, Canopus, had a daughter with a human—her name is 'Reve'—and it's well-known that Betel cherishes his half-sister deeply. I suspect his positive stance toward humans largely comes from that connection."
"And besides, Rineyas is my friend, so I'm not about to do anything nasty in front of him. Though I'd welcome a little bit of fear since people thinking of me too casually makes it hard to keep any dignity." (Gives a flash of a dangerous look)
"Eep!"
"Just kidding." _(Shrugs) "Why's an explorer so skittish?"
("Explorer," but I’m mainly focused on research and advising; the ones who do the real fieldwork are different people...sob)
"Betel, please don’t scare him too much."
"You're the odd one, Rineyas; that reaction is perfectly normal. What human would come here asking for an audience with the Demon King? And a king of a nation, at that. You really don’t hold yourself back enough."
"I have someone to cover me if needed. And, well, I had a bit of trust that it would be alright with you."
"Right, right… Anyway, let’s get down to the main topic. You're compiling a compendium?"
"Yes, that's correct. Farrell here is a kingdom biologist. He may be young, but he's a remarkable talent. He’s even taking part in the Arbis expedition due to his passion."
"Ah, this is the Old Continent expedition you mentioned before?"
"Yes. The materials we compile this time will include findings from that expedition."
"Knowing my stories are going into a compendium is a bit surreal. Record it with some discretion, will you? I’m hardly an expert. There are others who could tell you more detailed stories, and I can introduce them if necessary."
"Oh, no, no! Your words are essential for writing materials on the Veda! It’s an honor to hear such invaluable insights directly from you!"
"I, too, am very interested in Betel's stories. Sharing your knowledge without reservation would serve as good nourishment for the people. And there are stories only Betel can tell. That’s why I arranged this meeting between you and Farrell."
"Hm… You’re right, indeed. This is definitely a tale only I can share, at least in this generation. I'm not sure if it’ll be the grand story you're expecting, but… let's begin."
"About the Demon King."
"I'm going to talk about something from a long, long time ago—perhaps around when the land we live on first emerged. Nowadays, the main races on this land are our horned kind, the Veda; you humans, the Huma, who live in clusters and have smooth, featureless skin; and the beastly Yasma, with their animalistic traits. But back then, our kind was likely the only highly intelligent species that roamed this land.
"I can say this with certainty because each generation of Demon King inherits the memories of the previous ones. It’s not that every bit of personality or memory transfers over, but it’s like seeing an ancient memory or a forgotten dream. They stir and swirl somewhere in the back of your mind. It’s a hard feeling to describe—it’s vivid as if you could reach out and touch it, but it can disappear just as quickly as snuffing out a candle. You don’t consciously experience it, yet you come to know it happened. The mind of a Demon King, in that sense, could be described as a subjective, personal history book—not exactly the truth, but someone’s reality."
"The First King… he wanted to pass on the lessons from past deeds. To study the merits and faults of the predecessors and to learn from them, so the same mistakes wouldn’t be repeated. I remember this intent clearly, and it’s one of the things I learned upon inheriting this power."
"Then, the moment that intent passed on, I think every Demon King must have seen it—a figure that fills your mind."
"It’s a woman with red hair."
"She turns, her long hair flowing, partially braided and ornamented. And she smiles brightly as she looks back."
"And as her lips move, she calls a name."
"Sirius!"
"That’s the First King’s name. When we become Demon King, the first memory we see and the reason the Demon Kingship exists begins with her. She was the beginning of it all."
"The woman’s name is Lilim. She wears a red shawl. We’re known for our horns, right? Lilim has one too, a small horn on the right side of her head, shaped like a screw head. While that isn’t particularly unique among us, she definitely has a striking appearance."
"The First King misses her."
"Desperately. To the point where his heart might melt away. Deeply, achingly, profoundly."
"Is it a love story, then? Maybe. For me, it feels like something deeper and weightier than love."
"Or perhaps… that’s exactly what love is. I can’t say."
(To be continued with later parts)

hey dude. . . simple american here. can you tell us some cool awesome whimsical facts about Algeria? :))
OOOOOOOH ANON YOU JUST OPENED THE FLOODGATES
Algeria used to own the strongest navy ever known in the Mediterranean Sea, its power was so big that we used to have full control over the sea, nothing going in nor out without Algerian supervision
Similar to that, Algeria’s navy was so strong it used to tank European powers in battles, we even beat America in a war once
Algeria is full of diverse cultures and races, that includes Arabs, Kabyle, Tuareg, shaoui and much more
Following up to that, Algeria has the nickname of a “continent” given its very diverse landscapes and nature, it has seas and Sahara deserts, it has dunes and it has rock mountains, it has green mountains and green landscapes, it has rivers and it has ponds, it has snowy areas and it has hot areas, every corner of Algeria is like entering a whole new country, but infact you’re still in the same place
Algeria harbours one of the biggest open air museums in the whole world, aka “the Tassili”, which is a Sahara desert area located in the south of Algeria, mostly in the city of Djanet, it is full of beautiful rocks and cave painting that date to thousands of years back
Following up to that, the tassili harbours the oldest rock city “Sefar” that is full of paintings and artefacts that is said to represent tha oldest civilisation in the world
Algeria’s national animal is the fennec fox! Silly lil guy
Algeria’s second president was the first man to ever speak Arabic in the United Nations without interpreting, this was at the times where Arabic was not assigned an official language in the UN
We have a full section in our national anthem that tells France to eat shit and die
Algeria works by a “treat everyone the same way they treat you” system
Algeria is the 10th largest country in the world
It was an Algerian man that put Arabic in computers for the first time ever
Back during the October wars with the Zionist entity Israel, America sold rigged weapons to Egypt, so Algeria was like “nah fuck that” and went into debt with USSR from the amounts of weapons we bought from them
Back when the earthquakes struck Türkiye, the neighbouring country Syria was also badly horribly affected by the same earthquakes, however no country dared to send aids because America put restrictions against it, Algeria’s response to that was “nah fuck you, I do whatever I want” then proceeded to be the first country to actually step in and send help to Syria as well
It was Algerian human frogs that cleared Egypt’s harbour’s from ocean mines and bombs after the war with the Zionist entity
Algerians take dignity seriously, it’s so serious that if you go to Algeria and offer someone a tip they’d actually be offended that you thought that they were helping you for the money
Algeria is famous for its nickname “the country of the million and a half martyr”, that name is derived from the fact that during our 7 year revolution against France, OVER, one million and a half of people were martyred
Following up from that, during the whole 132 years of occupation, it was actually over 5.6 million people that faced martyrdom, the 1.5 million are only the ones that were victim to the 7 year revolution
When Algerians didn’t have access to weapons they used to actually beat the weapons out of the French authorities
Arbi Ben M’hidi, a famous Algerian martyr and figure, was so brave and held into his beliefs so tightly to the point he earned the respect of a French general that was supervising him, not that we need his fucking respect
“What is taken by force is only returned by force” is a famous quote in Algeria that stems from the massacres of 8th of may 1945 where over 45.000 Algerian people were murdered in one day
Little Omar aka Omar yacef is a brave 13 year old boy that used to work for the FLN and as their messenger, he was very brave and is a huge figure in our country, may he rest in peace
Following up to that, Saadi yacef, Omar’s uncle, was one of the FLN heads in Algiers, he managed to live past the revolution and survived to play his own character in the movie about the Algerian revolution, “the battle of Algiers” movie, he also managed to live to the point of seeing a whole hospital be built in the name of his brave nephew in 2014
Algerians have a fuck around and find out mentality, due to all the humiliation we endured for 132 years, we refuse to take any shit any longer
An Algerian’s favourite question is “where are you from”
Algeria once upped the prices of gas so high for France because the president fucked around and had to find out, he had to come over all the way to Algeria to negotiate about this situation
Algerians also go by a “im getting myself out of this hole, I don’t need nobody” mentality, cause for years so many countries turned their backs on us, most notably the dark decade
The dark decade is a time period from 1991 to 2002, where a civil war broke out and terrorism was all around the country, due to that, all countries closed their borders with algeria and called us terrorists and all (except Libya god bless and save our brothers there) so we really didn’t receive any outside help with isis, we had to fight them off on our own, we clawed our way out of that hole ourselves
Similar to that, when extreme forest fire struck algeria a few years back, only few countries offered aid to the destroyed cities, it was Algeria’s own citizens from other cities that donated money, food, clothes etc etc to the affected cities, showcasing the solidarity between our people
Algeria actually had many major resistances before the 1st of November revolution, the most notable one being the emirates of Abdul kader, they really made France run for its money, tho they all failed due to them being separate and all of the resistances dying with their leaders (not all the leaders were killed but still, the resistances stopped when the leader was stopped)
Speaking of Amir Abdul kader, after his resistance was stopped, he was exiled to Syria, there he had managed to actually save the lives of so many Christian folk from murder despite him being a fully Muslim man
Algeria actually had a decent Jewish population, however when France came along they found a way to separate Muslims and jews by giving jews full citizenship while leaving Muslims to eat dust and be their slaves, so when Algerians gained independence they kicked out anyone with a French citizenship, which included the Algerian jews with the citizenship, that resulted in Algeria’s Jewish population to get smaller and smaller as most of them left with the French, leaving Algeria a country that’s 99% muslim
Algeria actually suggested to cut off all gas and petrol on America and Europe to the Arabs a few days ago as a way to peer pressure the west into calling for a ceasefire on Gaza, unfortunately some Arabs countries voted against it
These are the things I could name on the top of my head, hope you enjoyed this silly infodump

A message from the dear brother Isa Ibragimov, Minister of the Chechen Republic for Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy:
In connection with the latest events in social networks, today I met with Askhab Tamaev and Arbi Emiyev.
It was made ion clear, that actions on the Internet, which discredit the honor and dignity of the Chechen people, are unacceptable and that tough measures will be taken to stop it. Actions that do not comply with customs and traditions are unacceptable and will be strictly suppressed.
Representatives of the Chechen nation, wherever they are, have no moral right to question the established centuries-old traditions and values by their thoughtless actions, they must show their best side and set an example for the younger generation.
The Head of the Chechen Republic, Hero of Russia, my dear brother Ramzan Akhmatovich Kadyrov keeps the issues of the spiritual and moral education of young people, the preservation of the cultural code in the Chechen Republic under his personal control. Therefore, we must all remember that we are Chechens, and this imposes certain obligations from birth.
This conversation should be a lesson for all young people!
Work in this direction will be intensified!

National Cheddar Fries Day
Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside - cheddar fries are a savory sensation! Whether dipped in ketchup or smothered in cheese sauce, these fries are a satisfying snack.
There’s something so incredibly delicious and deeply American about a big huge pile of french fries that is smothered in cheddar cheese sauce and piled high! Whether eaten as an appetizer or as a whole meal, cheddar fries have the power to bring quite a bit of delight to any table of friends or family members.
Now, Cheddar Fries Day is here to pay honor and respect to this simple and appetizing bit of American cuisine.
History of National Cheddar Fries Day
National Cheddar Fries Day got its official start in 2016 by a restaurant called Snuffer’s in the state of Texas. Though no one is quite sure when this dish got its start, it was certainly created somewhere in the United States. Putting cheese on french fried potatoes to make cheddar fries, or cheese fries, may have originated around the time that the American company, Kraft, released a product called Cheez Whiz in 1953. This was a processed cheese food that made it possible to have a saucier kind of melted cheese in a jar or can.
Chili cheese fries, which are basically cheddar fries that incorporate chili as well, have a story of having been invented at a Dairy Queen restaurant in Missouri by a man named Austin Ruse. But it is known that chili cheese fries could be sourced in the frozen food section of grocery stores as early as 1975.
In today’s world, cheddar fries are served at all sorts of different locally owned restaurants as well as national chains, from fast food to diner-style to casual family dining restaurants. They might come with just cheese or chili and cheese. Or they might be “loaded” up with bacon bits, green onions and sour cream. Some of the well-known places that serve a version of cheddar fries might include Steak ‘n Shake, Wendy’s, Arby’s, Shake Shack and many others.
