Nothing quite like watching Psycho and not realizing you’ve nodded off until the screeching of violins jolts you back to consciousness

Halloween Town #62: "The Haunted Portrait Maker"
And that is why none of us rely on Arborgast to do our art anymore. He needs to learn how to take criticism for his comments.
Don't worry, Jack and Sally did eventually get their portrait - several in fact!

Note
What did the Arborgasts do after the Daisy? Did they stay in touch with any of the cast?
They did stay in touch, but they mostly just worked as Undertakers. Elsa did go on to become a medical examiner for the city, but neither of them became particularly famous.
That’s not to say that they were uncomfortable, not at all! They lived very happily and were well fed and okay. They just never got famous. They did actually come to visit Rocky sometimes, though.

AHHH I'm loving this. This image really works well in context of the story im writing.
Elsa only really connects with with Victor in terms of her experiences of the great war. She was studying medicine in France at its start and has been in the French army as a nurse until entrance of the Americans in the war in 1915 with the hospital ship USS Mercy.
They connect on the isolation they experience fighting in an army that's entirely foreign to them, that doesn't really speak their native languages, and for causes far removed from lives.
They're both tired. tired from everything related to those years. When it comes up in their conversations they freeze up and linger on this feeling. stirring the little spoon on their drinks, as they gaze blankly on the treeline just beyond in the arborgast's farm.

Mind in No Man’s Land… Viktor and Elsa in the early 1920s. Just a little vignette, originally on Patreon.  It’s been pretty impossible to keep up with the comic with the animated film, kickstarter and patreon obligations stacked up. I have to squeeze in some opportunities to scratch that comic-making itch somehow. (The animated film is a finite thing and the comic will be back, by the way…everything is just more than I can handle at the moment, and I am deeply sorry about that.) ——————————- Lackadaisy is on Patreon - there’s extra stuff!

in the conversation with Mr. Arborgast (is that how you spell his name w/e the police guy they sent to the motel) anyway you can kind of tell exactly when Norma has control and goes “I need to kill this man” like you maybe can’t tell the exact moment but you can tell when the mother and son consciousness are sort of fighting for control and where the “we need to kill him” thought happens

Oh, William H. Macy! I kind of like him as Arborgast.
Aw, they changed the aspic comment to Jell-o.
Uggggghhhhhh this is so dumb. It's so weird and stilted and just...shitty. Ugh!
Well, that's done, okay.
And this was so utterly pointless. Like, I dislike remakes anyway, just watch the original if it's so good, why remake the thing without making it your own? And this is even worse than that because what does this have that Psycho (1960) doesn't:
Color
Vince Vaughn jerking off noises
Anne Heche's right buttock
Two (2) stab wounds
So. Like it's the same film, but with really confusing visual design (is it "the 60s", is it "the 90s but weirdly styled", what is happening?) and no, like reinterpretation or reimagining or actually updating anything other than the amount of money. Weird, boring choices all around.
Uuuuuugh, fine, I'll watch the shot-for-shot remake, which sounds really stupid and like a pretentious film school project, with fucking Vince Vaughn, Anne Heche, and Julianne Moore (and Viggo Mortensen, again, hi), but whatever, let's get Psycho (1998) over with.

Oh, wooooow, it's so different seeing Phoenix in color.
Hey, Rita Wilson!
Thiiis is weird because I can't tell when it's supposed to be set. It's like it's the 60s as imagined by the 90s, except the cars are just...90s cars. It's like it's modern, but with a tacky 60s aesthetic intermitently.
Anne Heche is a terrible Janet Leigh.

Mordecai is a confirmed trans Marigold.
EDIT: And the Arborgasts are all genderfluid.
✨shoutout to aro, ace, bi, demi, pan, and ply people who don’t experience same gender attraction!! ✨
✨you’re still completely valid!!✨
✨you’re still a part of the LGBTQIAP+ community!✨
