Estimated to be between 3,000 to 5,000 years old, this ancient tree is not just a biological wonder but a storied guardian of history, myths, and the evolution of the landscape around

Great Trees Of London A new map will guide you toward the capital's most impressive trees. Did you know that London has a tree that may be older than the city. The Totteridge yew could be as old as 2,000 years. It was a sapling when the Romans arrived and still lives today. ‘The Great Trees of London’ map pulls together Paul Wood’s selection of 50 arboreal wonders. It folds out to A2 size, with a guide to each tree on the reverse. Some of the highlights are relatively famous, like the Hardy Tree in St Pancras churchyard or Richmond's 750-year-old Royal Oak. Others will be new to all but the most dogged tree spotter. Who knew that a housing estate in Borough conceals a Norfolk Island pine. Let’s go outside and meet “Barney” the oldest plane tree in London or track down Herne Hill's remarkable row of Japanese cherries. Perhaps a trek to Abbey Wood to see the sideways-sprawling black mulberry. And have you ever noticed this flaring canary palm at the western end of Lambeth Bridge? This simple but inspiring map will have you rooting to explore London's under-appreciated green heritage. ‘Great Trees of London Map’, Author Paul Wood, published by ‘Blue Crow Media’ is out now. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #words #pictures #neon #urchin #flora #fauna #trees #london #arborealwonders #totteridgeyew #hardytree #royaloak #generationpress #paulwood #greattreesoflondonmap #bluecrowmedia (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGHtDZ7F0h0/?igshid=ipjx6zvxop9f

Great Trees Of London ‘Blue Crow Media’ long-time makers of bespoke themed maps of London and other places have switched from their regular architecture focus and produced an enticing new map focusing on notable trees in the capital. There are around as many trees as people in London (astonishing!) but some trees are more notable than others and this map and guide aims to highlight these. The guide has curated by been Paul Wood and includes photos of a number of the trees highlighted in the map. Edited by Paul Wood, author of 'London is a Forest' and 'London's Street Trees', this is the first in 'Blue Crow Media’s' new series about urban flora and wildlife. ‘Great Trees of London Map’, Author Paul Wood, published by ‘Blue Crow Media’ is out now. #neonurchin #neonurchinblog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #suzyurchin #ollyurchin #art #music #photography #fashion #film #words #pictures #neon #urchin #flora #fauna #trees #london #arborealwonders #totteridgeyew #hardytree #royaloak #generationpress #paulwood #greattreesoflondonmap #bluecrowmedia (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGHs-DelVJ0/?igshid=ofh69zg6mq8m
