#Gene Regulator May Contribute to Protein Pileup in Exfoliation #Glaucoma In exfoliation glaucoma, a #protein dandruff clogs the outflow pathway for the fluid in our #eyes. A recent study shows that variants of the same gene that enables us to make connective tissue by #crosslinking proteins is associated with this unusual glaucoma. #Scientists have been examining #RNA in human #eyetissue, that helps control LOXL1 gene expression, with the idea that it may be a culprit in the destructive pileup of LOXL1 protein inside the #eye. A new $440,000 #grant from the #NationalEyeInstitute is helping Dr. Yutao Liu and his colleagues further explore the relationship between the gene and this long, noncoding RNA dubbed “lncLOXL1”. The team aims to find treatment targets for this glaucoma, which is generally more aggressive and difficult to treat than primary #openangleglaucoma, its more common counterpart. A part of me agrees with you (particularly since I find my own internal monologue while playing hilarious), but the other part that recalls back to the fairly strict no-consoles/no-videogames-because-academics childhood is wailing rather piteously at all the time lost spent going "WHERE THE FUCK AM I???" Time that could've been used for less vertigo-inducing pastimes I guess...

(Niifey, did you just call me niifey...?) Anyway, IT IS/WAS MY FIRST VIDEOGAME PURCHASE EVER OKAY, because Portal/Portal 2 was kindly gifted to me by a friend and oh god, what have I done to myself. This game is a terrible, terrible enabler for all my looting/hoarding/grinding tendencies. (I jumped after a body I shot off a sizable cliff after debating for all of 2 seconds whether or not to Do the Thing. Did the Thing and got 7 gold pieces out of that endeavour. Worth it.)

there are two more fangames being worked on right now, aqueoushumor is working on a Ryuuhou/Koujaku game titled Gambling Man, see how it's doing so far here and download a demo version! 

also, rumor has it @peppermintbee, bisquickbismarck, and thehomefucker have teamed up to make a fangame starring Mizuki! little is known about this project other than their playtest video posted back in July, but more news should be rolling in next month.
