Guhhh I don't have the spoons to work on my newest aquarium review but I do want to say...
A lot goes on behind the aquariums we know and love, and I have a newfound respect for them.
Character development: I should probably also not be as harsh when it comes to minor information mistakes (incorrect species name) and jellyfish variety (unusual jellies can be expensive and hard to find). They also consider what species would be suitable to show in public (many- like hydrozoans- are too small to be properly seen ;w;)
Additionally, breeding efforts for certain species can be difficult. After getting their hands on one species, it's possible that they simply... die, without being replaced. Displayed jellyfish species at an aquarium can be almost as seasonal as the plants that grow around your local area.
// Fun fact: The aquarium of the pacific is the first aquarium I've found to feed medusivoric jellyfish... other jellyfish
Also fun fact the Aquarium of the Pacific has the most detailed descriptions of jellyfish ever. I've came across them before but now I feel a bit silly for not doing more research there (like, they're more in depth than the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Monterey Bay is GOOD)
#.professor jellyfish speaks#jellyfish#big thanks to Noah from AOP for giving me a mini insider chat/interview that was literally the highlight of my entire trip#I wonder what it would've been like to talk with jellyfish josh now...#im so happy ^-^!! finally im not the only person in real life to love jellies#jellyfish aquarists make me go brrrrr I want to be friends with them all#I had to give him my name and it was the most embarrassing experience of my life#I have like. 5 that people call me by and none of them seemed to fit ;~;;#THEY'RE BREEDING FLAME JELLYFISH BTW IM SO EXCITED (<- will never get to see them ever probably)#the juveniles are starting to develop their oral arm stumps hehe :>#also also I was recommended the aquarium of the podcific by noah so im gonna go listen to that now. it's probably the shortest episode but#-think i'll learn lots :>

Enrichment is the word of the week on Aquarium of the Podcific! We are joined by two animal enrichment experts, Alex Lasser-Gold and Alex Bohardt, aka Mammal Alex and Fish Alex. Lasser-Gold (Mammal Alex) is a Mammalogist II and Enrichment Coordinator, and Bohardt (Fish Alex) is our Manager of Aquatic Sustainability. Both have extensive knowledge of enrichment for animals that live above water, below water, and those that spend time in between. 🌊

This video shows some enrichment that we offer our animals to mimic challenges or new items/textures they may come across in a wild setting. Discovering new food or working on puzzles/obstacles keeps our animals thinking and enriched!

is this an actual, official aquarium of the pacific account, or is it like the amtrak one where it’s just made by a random person?
This is an o-fishal account ran by an o-fishal employee o-fishally on the marketing team at the Aquarium of the O-fishal Pacific. O-fishally.
Hi! I'm Madeline and I am the Aquarium's Digital Content & Community Manager. I manage the Aquarium's social media presence and hang out with Admiral Fancypants the penguin. Oh! I also co-host our podcast, Aquarium of the Podcific. Nice to meet you, Tumblr!

I really want to thank you for your recent post introducing yourself. I had no idea that your job is a job and sounds like fun (with its pros and cons) Would you be able to share a breakdown (or a lil bit) of what your daily work is at the aquarium?
I am interested in getting out of a corporate envirnment and more into an animal centric environment but im not sure of what my strengths/weaknesses may be in this new area. I have always loved learning about animals and the differences in their understanding of the world and the funny things they do because of it.
This is a late response, I apologize! BUT hi my name is Madeline and I'm the Digital Content & Community Manager at AOP. My job consists of creating content for our entire social media presence and managing our social media communities, like this one!
My typical day consists of shooting content around the Aquarium, editing videos, scheduling posts, and interacting with our followers. I also co-host/edit/produce our podcast, Aquarium of the Podcific!
My favorite part of my job besides spending time with the animals is getting to amplify the amazing work the Aquarium of the Pacific does to our online community. This is a special place with special people, and the animals bring us all together.

This week’s Aquarium of the Podcific episode is all about the Aquarium’s Ambassador Birds! These animals live behind the scenes and come out for presentations like Birds Shorts, which happen daily in our Honda Pacific Visions Theater.
We are joined by Aviculturist Heather who teaches us about the different types of birds she cares for, their stories, and helps us interview our first non-human guest.

Does the aquarium have a youtube channel where videos are uploaded too? I love watching the short videos here but is there a place with more longer videos to watch?
Yes! I have some recommendations too.
We do these really fun livestreams on TikTok periodically where we interact with an animal and their expert. I (Madeline, the Aquarium's social media squid, hi hello how are ya) host them! They are 40ish minutes long and I do repeat myself often since the audience is constantly coming and going, but I think they're really entertaining. They are unedited glimpses into animal care so expect the unexpected!
Speaking of live streams, we have several live cams around the Aquarium powered by @exploreorg!
Meet the Pacific Pals, the Aquarium's wacky ambassadors. They have their own YouTube channel, check it out for catchy songs and silly storytelling.
We launched our first podcast last year, Aquarium of the Podcific, and you can listen to all episodes on YouTube or anywhere you get your podcasts. If silly but educational conversations about animals are your thing, I think you'll like it! (I'm a cohost so plz like it)
We host monthly lectures about a variety of topics and stream them on YouTube. If you're local, check them out in person!
Otherwise, our YouTube channel is an expansive library of educational content. Enjoy clicking around, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
