☾ COLD SHOULDERS ; PARK GUNWOOK
gunwook masterlist / zb1 masterlist ; wc 0.975k
➛ genre ; angst - fluff ➛ warning ; cursing , mentions of food
🎧— sorry this took so long anddd i think i also got carried away with this one..
the tension in the living room was intolerable. the rectangle room which was once considered a safe haven turned into some kind of war-zone.
snarky remarks with raised voices and the added passive aggressiveness bounced off the four brick walls and into the emotions of the couple sitting on the couch.
“ it’s not my fault you were scolded today. “
“ and ? how does that play into this right now , you clearly knew i was in a bad mood and you still couldn’t let me cool off. “
“ i just asked you to eat the dinner i prepared. i literally spoke three words. “
gunwook let out an annoyed ‘ tsk ‘ , rolling his eyes and he stared holes into the electronic device he was suddenly so interested in.
“ no one asked you to prepare it , god you’re so naggy. “
as if his actions weren’t enough to full the bubbling anger in you , the absolute ungratefulness was the breaking point.
“ …fuck you. “
leaving the couch in a huff you grabbed the necessities for the night and threw them in the guest room , slamming the door shut.
the next day rolled around after a rather unsettling sleep. out of habit you reached out your hand to the other side of the bed before realising the person that usually greets you every morning was no where in sight.
you sighed out of frustration and a slight hint of embarrassment as well.
ding !
the rectangular device vibrated on the white sink , which almost caused it to fall off the curved edge. somehow the spidy sense in you managed to catch it in time , a sigh of relief escaping your lips.
with a toothbrush half sticking out of you mouth and toothpaste smothered around your lips you smiled at the silly conversation with your friend.
‘ y/n bbg wna watch the little mermaid today ? my treat. ‘
‘ now ? ‘
‘ starts in 3 hours , meet me for lunch at coex. ‘
‘ ight thanks sugar mommy. ‘
after putting on a comfortable outfit for the day and one last quick comb of your hair you begrudgingly opened the door dreading the thought of seeing the culprit of all your anger from the previous night.
‘ out the door at last , ‘ you thought , ‘ never have i ever been this happy to get out of the house. ‘
the day out definitely cheered boosted the once sour mood and took your mind off the problem. movie , arcade games and even a spontaneous aquarium trip also ripped that bank account. [ me fr ]
“ are you sure you don’t want me to drop you off at your apartment lobby ? “
“ nah i wanna hit the convenience store anyways , see you at school. “
“ see you , and do your homework. “
“ bye mother. “
you watched as the silver car drove off leaving you walking towards the said convenience store.
picking up the ramen package and a drink you considered getting a snack for gunwook as well.
‘ he can get his own shit. ‘ the little devil sitting on your shoulder whispered into your ear.
click click click !
ah… home sweet home.
the empty bundled up plastic bag served as a coaster for the cold drink , the seasoning scattered across the counter and the open packet of noodles , together with its consumer , waited rather impatiently for the water to boil.
“ where did you go ? “
a voice came from the hallway which its owner came crawling out of the darkness right after.
he walked into the light of the kitchen with disheveled hair and hands behind his back staring at the floor.
a spark of annoyance rushed through your veins as you fought an internal battle to not roll your eyes at the sheer sound of his voice.
ding !
saved.
saved by the water boiler of all things.
you turned your back to him suddenly being extremely invested into the process of preparing ramen.
a few shuffles were heard behind you and a small ‘ sorry ‘ before the soft sound of the door closing caused a surge of relief.
you did feel bad for ignoring him but the small grudge you held against him plus the added pettiness constantly persuaded you that ignorance was the best solution.
the next few days played out about the same way.
to you it was an internal conflict of whether to forgive him now or carry on with this silence.
but to gunwook this was his version of hell.
arguments rarely happen.
small ones , sure but they were solved in about five minutes he couldn’t bare to see you upset over his actions. [ even if it wasn’t his fault ]
he’s tried almost everything he could think of , trying to strike up conversations with dumb questions , leaving food on the table for you after a long day of school which he’d hide in the hallway and take a quick glance or two to see if you’d eat it.
bringing you water while you’re locked up in your room even organising the mess on your desk hoping you’d notice and say something.
but you were still ignoring him.
gunwook was at his breaking point.
and so once again today you came back home from a tiring day of school ready to retreat into the guest room for some much needed youtube when you were suddenly engulfed into a warm embrace.
one at you shared with a certain someone.
“ im sorry.. please stop ignoring me. “
he muttered and muzzled himself into your collarbone while practically squeezing you against himself.
“ sorry too i should’ve just let you cooled off before saying anything. “
he shook his head and you felt tears trickle down.
“ its my fault… im sorryy “
you felt his grip tighten which made you instinctively chuckle and ruffle his hair.
“ don’t cry you big baby. “
“ im not ! “
he whined but made no effort to stop or wipe his tears away.
“ yeah yeah sure you aren’t babe. “

I also need to know what alvar's city is. Unless, of course, I missed it because I can't read but it seems kinda weird that it was "your city" the entire time in luding up to page 400. I have a feeling it's going to be relevant
Actually I did some research into the details of it being in a mall and I found the Starfield Library is in the Coex mall in Seoul, south korea. There's also an aquarium and a movie theater so i'm going to say it's pretty likely. Still weird that seoul was never mentioned by name.

once reyna starts making content with her dads, jooha doesn't feel envious of the spotlight on her at all, but he is quite jealous at how it means she's allowed to be seen with them more often than he is. he doesn't throw 'tantrums' over it in the same way reyna does whenever something doesn't go her way, but he does have a bit of a meltdown after he begs and begs doyoung to take him to a museum and he just keeps getting told 'no' and to 'ask his eomma'
😖 My poor Jooha nooooo- We’ll fix this asap for him: Once the boys realize “oh shit we are being unfair and lowkey neglecting our son” they spring into action.
Jooha’s a bit surprised when Jaehyun picks him up from school one day and takes him to get snacks and hang out at the park. Jaehyun pushes Jooha on the swings. They sit on the grass together and eat snacks. They play tag (Jaehyun loses). And Jooha makes a new friend, so Jaehyun swallows his anxiety and decides to introduce himself to the parents who recognize him but are polite enough to play it off and compliment him for being such a great uncle by taking Jooha out for an evening.
Then a couple of days later, Taeyong knocks on Jooha’s door and asks if he can step away from his homework for a few minutes to see something cool, and Taeyong takes Jooha to a local market where there’s tons of small aquariums filled with giant squid and crabs and whatnot. Jooha understands that they’ll be used for food later so it doesn’t bother him to at least admire them for a bit. They get seafood pancakes for dinner lmao.
On the weekend, Doyoung takes Jooha to Hangang to get convenience store food and picnic beside the water as they watch sundown. Jooha gets to see all the bugs in the grass and watch the birds that fly overhead. Doyoung gets to hold Jooha in his lap when it gets dark enough, and he ends up carrying Jooha home because he falls asleep.
A week or so later, Mark takes Jooha to a library— Not a tourist one like COEX, but a real, gigantic library where Jooha can pick out books to read for hours on end as they sit in a secluded corner together. Mark’s reading poetry for lyric inspo, but every so often Jooha will poke his dad and ask what a certain word means in Korean. On their way home, they stop by a bookstore— Mark puts on a mask and lifts his hood— so that Jooha can buy another series he’s been wanting to read.
Johnny takes Jooha to Lotte World. Since they’re family, Johnny can be seen out in a public space like that with his son who’s dressed up in a costume, a bright smile on his face, excitement coarsing through his veins as they go on their next ride together. Johnny expected that Jooha would get overstimulated by all the noise and people, but Jooha has a blast. Having a guide and security help them through parts of the park and skip the lines was probably why Jooha didn’t get overstimulated.
During a break from school, Yuta takes Jooha with him to Tokyo, a rare thing since that’s always been the daddy-daughter trip Yuta and Reyna share together. But this time Yuta wants to spend time with his son. They go on hikes, visit temples, walk through museums, etc. Jooha’s whole world expands during that trip, and he feels so loved with his dad that he ends up falling asleep cuddled in Yuta’s arms every night, which makes Yuta melt. He sends pictures of the trip to the boys and Ahri— “He looks like he’s having fun,” Ahri replies to a picture of Jooha at a temple. “He’s adorable,” Hyuck texts when he sees a picture of Jooha asleep on Yuta’s chest. “I’m glad you took him with you,” Johnny says at the end of the trip when they get home and Jooha’s running around in a t-shirt his dad bought for him at the airport.
Jungwoo takes Jooha to a small, quiet town in the South that’s along the water, somewhere that hasn’t been discovered by tourists yet. They collect seashells on the beach, and Jooha races back to the hotel to draw them in his notebook. They eat all kinds of foods Jooha’s never tried before— And they discover that Jooha’s not a fan of most of them. That’s okay. At least he tried. Jungwoo surprises his son with a kite one afternoon, so they spend their time out in the sun, flying the kite together, both of them laughing when the wind dies out and the kite crashes into the water. Jungwoo chases Jooha up and down the shoreline, both of them laughing loudly, and when Jungwoo catches his son, he scoops Jooha up then gives him a piggy-back ride to the hotel.
Haechan’s so busy he’s struggling to find time to be with either of his kids. He’s trying his best to even make it home most nights….. and he’s usually failing at that anyhow. The best he can do is one night when he gets home late, he arrives with his favorite kind of ice cream that he knows Jooha likes too. It’s late, way past everyone’s bedtime, all the adults cuddled up in someone’s bed, the kids fast asleep before they have to go to school the following morning. Hyuck stops by Doyoung’s room to kiss him and Ahri on the cheeks before he goes to Jooha’s room. “Shh, it’s just me, buddy.” Jooha whines tiredly and sits up, “Oppa?” “I brought something for you. Do you wanna see?” Jooha nods and takes his dad’s hand, following Hyuck downstairs to the dining room where Haechan sets up the ice cream. “Don’t tell eoma, okay? It’s our secret.” Jooha nods and excitedly tries to climb up into a chair, but instead, Hyuck pulls him onto his lap so that they can eat together. He asks Jooha about school, if the bullies have left him alone, if he has a crush on anyone. He asks how hanging out with his dads the past few weeks has been. Jooha eats the ice cream happily while replying earnestly. “Oppa, can I go with you and daddy on your next tour?” Hyuck hesitates, “What made you think of that?” “I never get to hang out with you…… But maybe if I went to work with you, we’d get to talk all the time.” Hyuck can’t promise that for obvious reasons, but it’s a huge wake up call that he needs to try harder to spend more time with his family.

Alright it's plushy time!
Here's a photo of all of them together! The only one not here is a little keychain bulbasaur on my bag. It's hard to see all of them well here so let's take a closer look for introductions!
From left to right: Adventurer Pepe, Ardenweald Pepe, IJsbeer (literally ice bear), Danny, Donna, Donny. Apart from Ardenweald Pepe these all stay next my pillow at all times. I've had IJsbeer and the ducklings since I was barely a toddler!
Pokemon, part 1. The Hitmonlee with a Ditto face is called Chimken, the rest just go by there Pokemon names. The Meowth is a little fingerpuppet! All my pokemon plushies are a mix of official merch, stuff found at my local comic store, and older plushies I've had for a while and don't remember the origin of.
Pokemon, part 2. The bigger guys! The big Bulbasaur is called Squimnch. The Rayquaza is the oldest official pokeplush I have. The Celesteela is by far the most expensive plush I have in price, and it's also my tallest! I fricking love her! The Tepig has a fun gimmick where you can turn him inside out so it becomes a pokeball.
The remaining fun stuff! Left to right, top: Raven King, Copia, Asmund the plague doctor, Monji the dust cloud, Mothi the mothman
Bottom: Jerry the skull, Maantje the moon, Augustus Gustavus the Third aka Gus the snail, Pukkel the pimple, Nyangko the cat, Brian the brain, Reddi the robin.
Raven, Asmund and Mothi are all squishables, Reddi has a little sound thing in it that activates by squeezing her but it's loud so I never do. Gus, Nyangko and Monji are all from South Korea! Gus I got at the Coex aquarium. He was so ugly I loved it. Nyangko is actually meant to be a little wrist support thing for when you use the computer but I didn't like that feeling. Monji is special. Celesteela may have cost me the most in price but Monji was only available at a pop-up store in a mall just outside of Seoul for a short time and I happened to be there at the right time! He is technically the official mascot of the group Monsta X but they haben't really done much with that for the past few years.
Anyway that's all of my plushies! I rotate so I'm cuddling a different one every night ^^

230115 — Taeyong bbl update
Have you been well ?
It's night again here.
Is it Sunday there? What time is it ?
Oh you're eating lunch.
This tour to keep you entertained I've been constantly taking pictures. Wherever I go, I take pictures of each scenery through my eyes.
Together
I think it would be nice to learn the different cultures of each other. Also to show, how to say, the latest news of what I've been doing. ㅎㅎ
Today l went to the aquarium
How do i put it, is it because it's friday here ? But there were
over 100000 people
Also i tried
cola ice cream
Its where vanilla ice cream meets with cola. How do i put it, it looks like it's a very strange foam ㅋㅋ…. Honestly … somehow shiny
Was it brownie pusher or pasher ….
I don't really remember but i wanted to eat it, but it was out of stock …
I shared it on my insta story but the fish tank was so pretty. It was so fascinating that I could see tropical fish so well.
There were a lot of marsh snails there too.
I remember the Amazon puffer fish ?
The piranha is amazing too. It's really big ...
The crocodile too, it was fascinating to see the crocodiles belly ㅎㅎ
The belugas were so beautiful and cute, how should i put it, the skin was very smooth and they suited mother nature best.
Spider crab was very big in the deep sea side also, it was scary there ㅋㅋ
I like the coex aquarium in Korea too ㅋㅋㅋ
I'm slowly going to sleep. I'll share a lot with you when I go here and there during the tour. Please look forward to it.
Fighting for the rest of the tour.
Passion, passion, passion !!!

Volume 6
The Departure and Home
I’ve been home for almost a week now and everyone has been bothering me to finish this series off with one last volume.
Sunday was the last full day of peace we would all have before saying farewell to Ewha and Seoul. Grace and I decided to save going to Gangnam for last because of a very long awaited viewpoint we wanted to go to (I’ll reveal in a bit).
To start off the day, we headed to Hongdae for brunch. There we stopped at this place called Rachel’s Kitchen and had the cutest spread of souffle pancakes and drinks. I remember when Vivian and I along with our other friend went to a souffle pancake cafe during winter break. It was good, but not super worth the wait and price. These pancakes however were delicious and definitely deserved my money. I was also just excited to finally live out my dreams of having ice cream for breakfast.
I got melon pancakes with melon pieces, melon whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream, as well as a strawberry latte which was literally strawberries, milk, and strawberry ice cream.
With our bellies full of wonderfulness, we took the subway all the way to the Gangnam district. I was searching up what to do there and read about this street called Kpop Road. The website said it was in a dense shopping district and that sometimes idols stopped by. That sounded quite appealing to us so we decided to go.
It was pretty underwhelming and disappointing though. Kstar Road was basically a project to honor famous kpop groups through statues along the road. There were no kpop related stores or anything.
In fact, it was filled with all the high-end, designer stores instead. The exteriors of the buildings were very nice to look at, but there was nothing for us there which was saddening.
After deciding there was nothing to do in that area, we took the subway back to where the Starfield COEX mall was because apparently that was where the viewpoint we wanted to see was. It actually isn’t even a viewpoint, but Grace and I thought it would be funny to pay a visit to the infamous Gangnam Style Statue. Yes, there is an actual Gangnam Style Statue. Other people think it’s stupid, but I think it makes sense especially with all that Psy has done for the kpop industry. He walked so groups like BTS could run.
Grace wanted a pic with the hands doing the hands in front of the hands doing the hands, but there were a lot of people there when we arrived. Unsurprisingly though, they were all foreigners. It was really cringe watching them take solo, couple, and family pictures especially since they would pose in a way that looked like mid dance, but funny at the same time. Eventually I got Grace to get up there. Fun fact, Gangnam Style plays on repeat in the area.
Eager to get out of the rain, we ventured back to the COEX mall and decided to pay the aquarium a visit since we didn’t get to go last time. Unfortunately it was extremely crowded and packed with screaming kids, so we decided to walk around and get dinner first. Before that though, we saw this vending machine that dispensed various ice cream bars. It looked cool so we treated ourselves.
I don’t know how we didn’t learn our lesson from the mall food last time, but we didn’t and sat down at this Middle Eastern place. I wanted this smoked salmon pita, but they said it wouldn’t be ready until thirty minutes later so I was forced to pick something else on the spot. Funnily enough though, they took so long that it reached the time the pita would’ve been done at which was kind of dumb. Grace was upset because she purposely picked this chickpea pasta because it didn’t say chicken or beef in front of it like the other menu options but still showed up with meat.
My meal was actually not bad, but the meat took more chewing than I would’ve liked.
We only had an hour after that until the aquarium closed so we rushed on over. I’m not sure how they managed to fit one inside a mall, but I guess it’s how they have the biggest underground mall in the world.
We were greeted with prairie dogs which were definitely the cutest animals inside. I’m also not sure how they thought prairie dogs fit the aquarium scene. They were super cute though.
We also saw turtles, otters, and various fish.
I wanted to see the penguins the most, but of course our mall food had very conveniently caught up with me and suddenly I didn’t feel so good. We barely got to look at the penguins before I suggested we go back home because I was also just tired. The instructions given by our Naver Map app were contradictory every time and it was getting annoying.
Monday rolled around and I had to meet up with my classmates from both classes before the farewell ceremony to set up our art pieces that were going to be displayed. I didn’t want to show my painting stuff especially since our teacher was making us show more than one thing and I just wanted to pack it all up. Here’s a pic with some of other people’s works though.
The farewell ceremony had a lot more happening than the welcoming. We had several performances from students who were taking Korean traditional music and dance. Unfortunately I didn’t take any pictures or videos. We were given certificates of completion though and I snapped this with all of our names in it.
We mostly went back to packing since most of us would be leaving the next day. Some people were even leaving that day so there weren’t many people walking around. Bianca, Grace, and I decided to have one more night to hang out and enjoy our time together so we first got dinner at this tteokbokki place.
We knew we wanted to do karaoke but we were pretty stuffed. Along the way we stopped at multiple photobooth stores to take a couple goofy pictures. I’m not kidding when I say there are more photobooth shops along the streets than anything else. Seoul is run by photobooths and cafes. And they’re not those janky booths they have in arcades in the US either. They have all sorts of accessories like headbands with animal ears, crowns, hats, funky glasses, and props. Some of them even have community hair straighteners, curlers, and perfume.
It was pretty fun taking dumb pics with them. We bought some drinks and snacks to enjoy before karaoke where we spent 2.5 hours. Grace carried for sure and seemed to be having a blast. She knew most of the kpop songs we picked and shouted confidently even though none of us knew a speck of Korean. I had to of course document every time we received a score 100 which was more than we expected.
We stayed out pretty late until midnight. I had to say bye to Bianca until school started because she was going back home to China for the first time in two years and was leaving through a different airport. Grace was going to my airport so I decided to tag along even if it meant we had to leave at the crack of dawn (her flight was at 10 something).
After an insane amount of time and struggle, we finally managed to get to her gate. Neither of us were happy at this point and wanted nothing more than to go home. I sat with her until she boarded the plane which was nice but also sad when I was alone and had to go to my own gate.
The plane food was pretty good this time too, but I don’t think it can top the treatment I got on the way to Korea. I noticed that the flight attendants this time were real skimpy with the drink portions. The cups were way smaller and filled very ungenerously so that kind of sucked. I was also not super eager to eat breakfast since the options were omelet and porridge. Eggs on planes are a big no-no for me, but I saw what the porridge option looked like. I did like that they gave me fresh fruit on the side. I’d been deprived of fresh produce. I love my nightly bowl of fruit and I wasn’t getting that in Seoul.
Everyone keeps asking me how my trip was and if I miss Korea. I’m going to be honest, I did really enjoy all my experiences, but I am very happy to come back. It feels so much more normal, but that’s probably just me not liking to go out of my comfort zone. I’m not saying Korea was uncomfortable in a bad way, but it definitely was not something I could’ve done without a lot of prep. So I’m proud of myself.
Anyways, I’m happy to be back because I get to see my silly dog and friends. I feel like I lost a lot of time to hang out with people I don’t get to see during the school year.
To make up for lost time, Vivian, our other friend, and I took it upon ourselves to watch the new Barbie movie. We even got the Barbie ice cream from Coldstone.
And just like that my normal schedule picked back up like nothing ever happened. I’m back doing slave work for my unpaid internship which is boring, but at least I get to have fun on the weekends at my museum job. We saw what seemed like a stray cat this time and went out to give it water and pets. It’s very cute and friendly.
Long story short, it was a fun trip and I won’t be forgetting it any time soon, but as with any trip I’ve gone on, home is the best place for me. Traveling as an introvert is challenging.
To end this series, I have a few thanks to give. Thanks to my parents for funding this trip because I make no money. Thanks to my boyfriend who suggested I blog even though I know he’s only read the first volume so far. Thanks to my best friend for telling me she read all of the updates and for existing. And thanks to everyone else who had to make a Tumblr account to read this because Tumblr is stupid like that.
That’s it from me. See you next time maybe.

Seoul | Starfield Coex Mall
The rest of the day was planned by Josh and Alexis! It was nice to take a rest from being the chief trip planner and fun to see places and do activities I wouldn’t have necessarily planned for myself. Before leaving the Myeongdong area we got breakfast of overpriced bakery items and fancy hawaiian themed espresso drinks at minimalistic Luft Coffee next to the hotel. The front desk helped us get a taxi to the Starfield Coex mall in a completely different part of Seoul. This part of Seoul felt even more modern or western than the Myeongdong neighborhood. The area around the mall was being set up for a K-Pop music festival and we stopped to watch one of the groups rehearse before finding the Gang Nam Style statue.
Much of the mall was underground, and we stopped in a toy store, a bookstore where I bought a cook book to bring home, and of course Starfield Library, a three story bookstore with sky high walls of decorative books. The mall was huge and home to a walking track, cinema, aquarium, hotels, and of course lots of food options. We got lunch at a small vegan restaurant and Josh could finally order off a menu to his heart’s content. The White Truffle Tteokbokki I got was simply divine - chewy rice noodles in a garlic potato and truffle sauce, with loads of enoki and oyster mushrooms on top. Alexis got the Tofu Katsu, and everything was presented so nicely, mine even had edible flowers on it. They had lemon kombucha too which was a welcome treat. It didn’t seem like there was much else to do or see around the mall so after a quick drone stop in a rare fly zone we took the subway to another part of town and our next destination: Seoul Botanic Park.

Coex Aquarium
Je me suis enfin décidée à aller à l'aquarium !
On t’as jamais dit que t’étais beau gosse, toi ?
C'était dans “I can hear your voice”. Du coup, j'y étais ! Bon...
