Mareena: Eu já conhecia Metropolis antes de mudar. Já tinha visitado a cidade e feito umas missões por aqui como heroína. Lembro de ter me surpreendido com o tamanho e como era movimentada. É uma cidade grande e moderna, diferente de St. Roch e Amnesty Bay. Metropolis é bem maior que as duas. Eu já tinha gostado da cidade nas vezes em que a visitei, mas é diferente agora. Eu mudei e essa passou a ser a minha cidade. Por enquanto, eu tenho gostado de morar aqui.

things I’d do as an Aquaman writer for the Aquaman comics or in other words my wish list:

use the Atlantean gods as a concept more

use other Aquaman villains like Siren and Fisherman, give Manta and Orm a rest but do not invent another Corum Rath

Arthur and Orm team up

Mera, Tula, and Dolphin team up (to stop Siren) cause aqualadies my beloved

more Garth as Tempest

more of Jackson (and his bf) being Aquaman

make Orm a little more like his dceu counterpart (which was based on N52 Orm) but give him back his Dagon kingdom with Erin, Tommy, and Lernaea

bring back Atlanna except she’s more like her dceu counterpart too

Arthur Jr. resurrection arc and being siblings with Andy (bc why does Arthur Jr get to live in every universe except the main continuity… BORING, resurrect him)

use other Aquafam members who haven’t been seen in a while like Koryak and Lorena

Do you think Tula would actively try to make Garth’s life better while they were together? Like trying to make the titans understand and be closer to Garth or doing her best to make the people of Atlantis appreciate Garth

I love this question! I think Tula was really good for Garth, she was extremely outgoing and had a confidence that he struggled with, so she helped him come out of his shell. I really enjoy the party-girl aspect of her character (but I fully admit, the Aqualadies struggle a lot with sexism in their portrayal, so I do understand that she was intended to be like, a rebellious teen to make Aqualad look more heroic and moral)

I think Tula would not necessarily try to get the Titans to understand Garth, but try to get Garth to not care what they think. You can’t tell me it wasn’t her idea to have sex with him in a fully public pool where literally anyone could have (and did) see them, for example. She’s basically his incredibly hot, older girlfriend (she’s in her 20s when they’re dating, you may recall) and honestly, if I was a Titan I would be mad jealous.

I think her approach to Garth being upset that his friends don’t really seem to like him/respect him would be to say “why do you care about that, babe? I know you’re cooler than any of these air-breathers” and she would FULLY believe that would cure his anxiety.

As for Atlantis, I do think she would try to get him integrated into “regular” Atlantean culture rather than the very isolated royalty he usually associated with. Tula is the one who tells him where night clubs are, where to find street food, etc. Tula never really seemed concerned about Garth being different/strange in Atlantis, so I don’t know if she would actively campaign for societal change against “throw backs” but she WOULD show all the other Hip Teens how cool her famous boyfriend is.

Speaking of Mera, what IS her personality?

lmao this is the problem all the Aqualadies have, they tend to have all their interactions with their romantic interest and their personality takes a back seat.

Currently? Idk I feel like most people just write her as “confident and fighty!!” which is like…fine. She seems very Girlboss™️ and people love to point out she’s a Queen and she Can Kill You. To be fair, Arthur also didn’t have a very distinct personality for a while (at least not compared to his Edgelord era) so together they just feel very romantic and in love and I don’t think their lack of personality is noticeable when drama is constantly happening around them. You really do believe they’re in love regardless of the era.

It’s not much different than preboot, but Mera used to be really defined by her status as a wife and mother, so she would be whatever the story called for; weepy, romantic lead, nagging wife, jealous lover, etc. I think she’s consistently headstrong through the decades.

She’s Aquaman’s Confident and Capable Wife. It just becomes very obvious that it’s her main personality when Mera in a context where she is not Aquaman’s wife lol
