When Leo falls through the portal meant for Repo Mantis, he’d only intended it to take him as far as the outskirts of Jersey – a respectable enough punishment in itself, if he does say so himself, but when it backfires spectacularly and the mutant bug is dodging the huey blue glow where time and space rips open only for Leo to be the one that stumbles into it, he can only add that to his ever growing notch of self-doubting failures.

And then when Mikey follows him right through it, however, knocking his whole weight against his shell with enough force to dislodge the wind out of his lungs a little, the number on that tally mark intensifies to about a gazillion and one.

Because the portal doesn’t take them to Jersey. It doesn’t even take them as far as Massachusetts.

He lands in wet, thick mud, his little brother unceremoniously sprawled out on top of him in the world's most uncomfortable hug. The air around him sulphuric and hot and it doesn’t take him very long to recognize that it wasn’t the afterburner of his portal doing that.

They didn’t land one state over with a ferry to catch after hours.

They had landed 66 million years into the past.

Day 13 of @zee-rambles ‘s Rise April Art Challenge: Umbrella

I'm sorry if you already got asked but about this but I was wondering if you plan on doing an analysis about April. Just wondering, I find her characterization very intriguing.

So...here's the thing. I love April, I really do, and I whole-heartedly believe that Rise April is the best April of the franchise. ...but I just don't have many thoughts about her. I mean, I do plan on Rambling about her impact on the turtles, but as for April herself, no. Sorry. To make up for it... Here's a quick summary of everything I think about Rise April O'Neal.

• I love how secure she is in herself and how determined she is.

• I love how she is a "big sister" to the boys, which is completely different to the relationship she's had with them in other iterations. (So tired of the "generic female love interest" trope.)

• The idea of her catchphrase being her name is a play on the "Leeroy Jenkins" meme. They even parody the meme in it's entirety during the first episode.

• Her relationship with Donatello is really special. They just click! (Platonically.😌) And I love how they argue as well.

• I find it interesting that in situations where she's the only human in the room, she's completely comfortable. That says a lot about her character and how she sees the people around her. (They're not turtles, or yokai, they're people.)

• This lady kicks butt. She not playin wit ya'll. And don't mess with her kid brothers neither.

• I love how in the show they depict her with her hair tied up when she's ready for bed.
