Genuine question: why did you choose to be a teacher?
I always thought of being one, but recently I realized I'm not good at making kids listen to me, so I always get ignore completely lol
I’m actually an assistant daycare teacher, not a real school teacher! I work with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. So like, I don’t come up with lesson plans or anything like that, it’s mostly just playing with the kids and helping them learn basic things (ABCs, how to use the toilet, etc).
Anyway, I’m not really sure why I decided to do this job. I applied impulsively, since this is a beginner position and it doesn’t need a college degree, and I didn’t expect a callback or anything. Kids aren’t good at listening to me either lol But I’m learning a lot about working with kids!
I think if you wanna be a teacher, go for it! You’ll learn how to make kids listen to you eventually, i think it just takes a lot of trial and error. However… there’s always gonna be times eventually where a kid refuses to listen to you. And it’s so annoying :/ like bro just put your shoe on!!!! It’s not that serious, you don’t have to scream
As long as you like kids and can handle stressful situations, I think teaching would be a good career path to choose! You definitely have to learn a lot to do it, but I think it would be worth it in the end :3

Sorry to trouble you but was curious if you’re still doing MHA meta and work? Your stuff is amazing and insightful, always a pleasure to read and re-read, but it seems a lot of meta-writers for the fandom have slowly been disappearing.
Welcome to my Tumblr page! :) Thank you so much for your kind words and for checking in. You're not bothering me, I promise. I've definitely noticed a decline in the number of fans creating meta and translations for BNHA. There are all kinds of reasons for why people decide to take a step back from the fandom or abandon it altogether. Some are disappointed by the direction the manga has taken and is taking and are finding it difficult or impossible to enjoy the series the way they did in the past; some find certain narrative choices unforgivable; some have grown disillusioned with the manga, the fanbase, or both; some have found other series they're more emotionally invested in and giving more time to; some have become lurkers, consuming content from the shadows and avoiding direct interaction with other fans; and some have just been distracted with, well, life. Things have been rough on the home front for a while now, and I've been feeling absolutely drained by all of it. I've also spent the past month applying for jobs, and one finally came through! I'm working part-time Monday through Friday as an assistant preschool teacher for infants age 6 months to 13 months at a child development center in my area. Between work, family, and doing my part to keep my household running smoothly, I've been busy. I know it's been a minute (a month? more?) since I last shared anything BNHA-related, but I can assure you I'm working on more content to share with you all! I had originally planned to upload four different posts--direct Japanese to English translations for No.375 and No.376, an English vs. Japanese translation comparison for Spinner's 288 speech to Toga, and an English vs. Japanese translation comparison for No.294 and No.295 for Mr. Compress--all at once, but I've been dragging on that last one. It's taking longer to finish than I ever anticipated it would because of everything else going on. My new plan is to upload the other three posts as soon as possible. With any luck, I'll have at least one up tonight! Fingers crossed! They'll all be uploaded to Tumblr first. The links will then be added to the ever-evolving Google doc pinned to my Twitter page and shared in a separate tweet announcing the uploads. I hope you enjoy them as much as you have the others! <3
P.S. You're my first ask. <333

Changes and Updates
I quit my old job as a teacher assistant and moved in with my boyfriend! He decided to buy a house closer to his job to save him the trip of an hour and sum every morning. This meant I had to quit my pre-school teacher and find a new job in that area. I was really sad about leaving (and sobbed on my last day) but it was a blessing in disguise that I did or else I would've never left. I loved those children as if they were my own and I hope they grow up safe and to be wonderful people (even the ones that gave me gray hair omgggg). So glad I did though because the people I worked with also quit and went to better, less toxic jobs (so happy for them!!!)
After the move, I took a break and began doing things that made me happy: draw, read, and travel (went to epcot, DC, Italy, and France). Sadly though, after about a month, I ran out of money (the Italy and France tripped drained my savings so quick !!!! wish I never went tbh :(). I had no time to figure out what job I wanted but I applied to the ones that I knew would hire me on the spot: preschool positions. The first one I went to was run-down and the teachers looked very scary so even though I got the job, I ghosted them heheeh. I had another interview with a pre-school that I was so close to skipping out on but my boyfriend pushed me to do it anyway. It was so pretty and had so little kids!!!! I'm so glad went through with it as I've been there for exactly 1 year !!! I became great friends with my co-workers! From my co-workers, I began hosting trivia as she started first and then trained me (I sucked at so bad at first but now I'm so good!! ehehe) and I love my house!!! It is also good pay compared to other pre-schools. Even though I love it, I don't want to stay as student loans have started again, and I will eventually need a higher-paying job (an office job that pays at least $20/hr) to pay it off. I currently have 19,300K in student loans and can hopefully move it to 19K by the end of 2024 with the help of the SAVE program. I also an 11K car loan on top of that :,(.
My sister also moved away to Japan. She officially moved in August to be an English teacher but because I'm a shopaholic, I going to have to visit her in 2024. My goal is to save up enough money to visit her as I have always wanted to live in Japan. very jealous but I love my boyfriend and where I am at in life and would never want to ruin it. But maybe someday, I will!!! We'll see.

Benefits and Choices of Montessori Preschool Education
If talking about Montessori San Jose preschool program then it is essential for a successful educational programme. Teaching style of Maria Montessori fosters young children's innate abilities while encouraging them to build a strong sense of uniqueness and responsibility. While selecting a Montessori preschool program, make sure that the program's vital core aspects comprise Math, Reading Skills, Sensorial Exercises, Cultural Knowledge, and Real Life Skills.
The first Montessori principle is that kids retain more when they engage in independent active learning and play. The Montessori preschool program should encourage children to play freely, with the teacher or parent acting as a liaison between the kid and the education.
Tumblr media
Another great advantage of using a Montessori preschool education is that children can work at their own speed. It helps the kid establish confidence and self-esteem, both of which are crucial attributes cultivated via Montessori education. The Montessori Schools San Jose system holds that all kids have a natural yearning for freedom, creativity, and self-esteem gained through task mastery. You would also discover that Montessori curriculum works best in small group situations. It is simple to acquire if you are doing the programme at home with one kid, but in Day Care Cupertino or preschool situations with small groups of children, having children work individually will be advantageous.
Montessori fundamentals encourage & foster individuality. As a result, the majority of Montessori Preschool San Jose education options will entail children moving from one action to the next. The instructor never compels a child to work or complete a job, but rather guides and supervises. The instructor will ask the students questions about the activities he or she is familiar with and will offer support if necessary. By offering encouragement and assistance, the youngster will acquire self-confidence and learn skills in their own time.
Tumblr media
A youngster is meant to sit in a seat and be pushed to absorb things that some else tells them is vital in a regular school. If somehow the youngster doesn't really believe the program is important, he or she will not feel compelled to take the content seriously. A child picks what they would like to learn at Montessori Daycare San Francisco and then creates their own fool-proof study habits. When they have mastered the content, they can apply it to draw connections between their newly acquired concepts as well as the real world.
Nursery Montessori teachers offer to instruct students only once and to supply pupils with the tools needed to create various study activities. Teachers try to reproduce settings that assist the individual child learn well, and when they have found a way that works, they apply it to additional knowledge being delivered. Kids then determine if they are able to move on to the next phase of learning and set their own progress standards while work towards their own goals in order to achieve the objectives, they set for themselves.
It is simple to see why a Montessori preschool might be ideal for your child. Anyone who wants to provide their kid a brighter future should look into the Montessori Method right now.

Seventeen headcanon: Seventeen as Daycare Workers
a/n: i really dont have the time for a whole au for this so uh here’s a headcanon because i just needed to like write it down somewhere. maybe one day i’ll make a mini series for each of them or smth
Tumblr media
-
Choi Seungcheol
he’s the boss
he doesn’t own the daycare but he works directly under the owners
they’re family friends of his
he absolutely adores the kids at the daycare
he knows every kid in the daycare so well
like he knows who needs what and when
he always has the answers so everyone goes to him when they need help
moms always hit on him but he doesn’t realize they’re trying to hit on him
tbh he’s too busy making sure the kid didn’t forget anything lmao
while he does mostly work with the older kids (so basically anyone outside the baby room) he does do everything
all of the kids love him so much
Yoon Jeonghan
honestly he technically was never officially hired
they were really low on staff once so Seungcheol begged Jeonghan to help
he promised to pay him so Jeonghan said yes because he needed money
but even once they hired someone else, Jeonghan kept showing up
so he just works there now
he was really,,,,,,,not into taking care of kids lmao
he’s like the stereotypical new dad who like holds his baby wrong and is like ‘wtf is this???’
but he’s gotten the hang of it and a lot of the kids love him
he’s convinced them he’s a real life angel
Jihoon is trying to undo that by telling them the opposite but some of the kids only think he’s even cooler
always gets hit on by the parents
Joshua Hong
he’s one of the preschool teachers
he doesn’t like having anyone call him Mr. Hong so the kids call him Mr. Josh or Mr. Shua
he hits on a lot of the moms
may have slept with one or two of them but that’s neither here nor there
like Jeonghan, he teaches them that he’s this perfect gentleman (mostly so they’ll go home and tell their moms that)
again, Jihoon tells them otherwise
he has so many drawings from his students and he keeps all of them in a big folder in his desk at home
refuses to throw anything the kids made away
but while he’s sweet with the kids, he doesn’t really have a good track record with calling anybody back
always scolded by Jihoon and Seungcheol
Wen Junhui
the kids love him because he’s basically a large child
the kids love him so much
he literally lets them climb all over him he loves it
loves to help the kids with lunch and snack and stuff
he mostly works with the toddlers and not so much the babies
he’s like Jeonghan when he first started working there but only with babies
teaches the kids words in mandarin all the time
loves to tickle them and make them laugh
whenever a kid is crying, Jun’s the guy to go to
gets hits on a moderate amount but is too flustered to do anything about it
Kwon Soonyoung
claims he’s the one in charge is Seungcheol or Jihoon aren’t there
thankfully at least one of them is always at work
like Jun, he acts like he’s one of the kids
but sometimes he’s.......too extra with it
banned from the baby room for being too loud all the time
usually in charge of circle time
teaches them little songs and dances and stuff
lowkey hoped working at a daycare would help him meet someone but all the kids go home and tell their parents about how goofy Soonyoung is
so none of the single parents take him seriously so when he’s trying to hit on them it doesn’t work out
at least the kids like him
though sometimes they bully him or throw their toys at him lmao
Jeon Wonwoo
the other teacher
Wonwoo teaches the older kids who come in after they’re at kindergarten or first grade
but that’s not until the afternoon, so during the morning, he’s usually in the baby room
Wonwoo’s a much quieter teacher than Josh but his kids adore him
he’s the true gentleman
seems like he’d be awkward with kids but he’s so good with them????
if they’re crying or upset, he’s soft and patient and understanding
he’s perfect with babies because he’s already quiet and gentle
and unlike Josh, he keeps things more professional with the parents
even if a lot of kids insist they want him to be their dad
Lee Jihoon
somehow, he became the second in command to Seungcheol
he was hired around the time that Jeonghan started getting dragged there
and despite claiming he had no training and hadn’t ever really worked with kids, he was a natural
and kids loved him even though he seemed so cold and annoyed toward everyone else
but with kids he’s so sweet
if a kid is being a brat he absolutely won’t put up with it, though
he’s a lot more blunt with kids misbehaving than Seungcheol is but he at least gets them to behave
moms used to hit on him but he made it painfully obvious he wasn’t interested
like Seungcheol, he also works with all he kids, but he mainly stays in the baby room
Lee Seokmin
he assists Wonwoo with his classes in the afternoon
but during the day he goes between the baby room and staying with the rest of the kids
known for singing kids and babies to sleep
the kids are so in love with his voice
he’ll sit on the floor and they’ll all lay in like a lil pile around him and just listen to him sing as they fall asleep
probably loves helping with crafts more than he should
he’ll make one for himself and bring it home like a proud child lmao
tbh he has baby fever real bad
Kim Mingyu
assists Joshua’s class
tries to sit at the really short tables with the kids but his knees are like in his chest
no matter how many times he does that, the kids still think it’s hilarious
doesn’t really assist with crafts because he would mess it up
he already made three kids cry for ruining their crafts and he refuses to mess up again
of course he’s popular with the parents
but honestly even like 5 of the little girls insist they’ll marry Mingyu when they’re older
Mingyu just thinks it’s cute tho
Xu Minghao
mostly stays in the baby room
lowkey has baby fever like Seokmin but won’t admit it
but also thinks the single parents (and tbh even some of the married ones) coming in and flirting with everyone is really dumb
loves holding the babies and trying to get them to smile
occasionally assists with the older kids when help is needed, like with recess or something
the kids think he’s so cool because he always speaks to Jun in mandarin
but he’s kind of a little more awkward with kids so he just get’s all blushy and mumbles a thank you
then retreats back to the baby room
Boo Seungkwan
tbh just applied for the job because he thought it would be easy money
he’s suffering
it’s like kids know he’s not that great with kids and try to rub it in his face
they climb all over him, throw food at him, color on him
tbh they give him the hardest time out of anybody else
his bad luck carries over into the baby room
Seungcheol thought maybe he should work in there instead but he always gets spit up and thrown up on
let’s just say he has to basically keep a whole closet in his car because he’s always changing his clothes
but there are still really cute moments where a kid will crawl into his lap and ask him to read to him or when he sings to a baby and it smiles up at him
so he suffers through the pain for those moments
Hansol Chwe
literally the chillest worker there
kids and parents alike both love him
babies, not so much, but that’s fine because he doesn’t really know how to hold a baby anyway
tbh he doesn’t really like know what to do and when he just kinda follows what everyone else does
he’s not the best with kids, but I mean, he keeps them alive and mostly happy so ?????
he’s not one of the favorites but he’s trying
he might try to help a crying kid and only make them cry harder but he’s t r y i n g
kids don’t hate him and that’s what matters
and he does his job
Lee Chan
y’know how Soonyoung says he would be next in charge after Jihoon? it would probably actually be Chan
he’s good with babies and kids
sometimes pops into the classes to help out
sometimes pops into the baby room to help out
the owners love him and think he’s awesome
he’s great with the parents too
like he’s one of their star employees
he loves kids and babies and kids and babies love him
unfortunately while he is trying to find a s/o, none of the parents seem to want to take him seriously lmao

Tumblr media
Swardini City, Swardini
September 2001
Kurapika stepped off the bus feeling like a completely new person. Maybe that was a little cliché but that's how he felt. Even though he carried his Kurta heritage in his heart and would always be welcomed back to the clan, Kurapika felt like he was letting go of it. He didn't see anyone wearing any kind of cultural attire here.
It was funny to him though. Swardini City was supposed to be one of the most diverse areas in the world. Kurapika expected people to be singing and dancing or something! All there was were people cussing other people, women in suits on the phone, and nosy tourists. The Kurta shook his head. Maybe he'd find more diversity and embrace his own culture once he lived here a bit. Right now, his focus was on surviving the city.
The twenty-year-old had applied for a daycare job in Swardini City. When he told the clan about his desire to leave, they questioned his career choices and how he was going to live. At first, Kurapika had no idea. But he remembered that a lot of people trusted him with their kids. "I'll be a caretaker," he blurted. The elder, his parents, and a few clansmen thought amongst themselves and agreed. They put together some money for him because they knew Kurapika needed a place to stay. As they did that, Kurapika started searching for jobs. After weeks of exploring online, he finally found Swardini City Angels. It had good reviews and from the photos, it seemed like a good environment. Kurapika immediately applied. He did an interview and met the owner, Melody. She was a short woman, with gray like skin and her hair was silver. Her face looked young and happy. They clicked instantly. Melody gave him the job on the spot and asked him to come for a tour later on just to make sure he still wanted to job.
Kurapika was here now for his interview. The daycare looked sad on the outside but once you walked in, it exploded with color. The Kurta was greeted by Gel, the long, darker-toned woman who handled the front desk. "You're here for the tour right?" she asks kindly. Kurapika nods yes. "Alright, let me get your tour guide." Gel gets up from her seat at the desk and goes down a hallway. Three minutes later she comes back with this long, tan, and incredibly handsome man. Kurapika gasps quietly. He quickly closes his small mouth when the handsome man stops in front of him.
"Hey, I'm Leorio. I'm an infant teacher. I'm also going to show you around," he says cheerfully. Leorio puts out a hand for Kurapika to shake. Instead of shaking it, Kurapika just holds it. Leorio smiles awkwardly at the smaller boy and finally forces his hand out of his grip. "Let me show you around. It shouldn't be too long." Leorio's cheerful tone remains. Kurapika nods, still mesmerized by this man. Leorio gives him one awkward look before turning on his foot. The look managed to get Kurapika out of his daze. He tried not to show it but inside he was freaking out. Control yourself, Kurapika, he thought to himself.
"So, here's the lounge. It isn't too big because most of the teachers eat with their kids. There aren't a lot of infant teachers, so the few of us hang out in here," Leorio starts. He's pointing to the first door of the hallway they had just entered. Leorio turns to the left and goes down another hallway. "This hallway has the preschool classes. There are only three. We won't go to all of them but we'll look at your future class," Leorio explains. He flashes Kurapika a smile. Kurapika smiles back, unsure of what to say. Leorio goes down the hallway and knocks on the door right of the hallway. Within a few seconds, the door is opened. "Baise, how are you?"
Baise was the teaching assistant of Kurapika's future (or possible) class. She had always worn shoes that would boost her height. The woman had magenta-colored hair that was tied back. "I'm fine, Leorio. I assume this is the future teacher?" Leorio nods. Kurapika nods with him. "I'm Kurapika. It's nice to meet you," he says simply. Baise lets out a little 'mhm' before moving out of the way so the two could enter.
The minute Kurapika stepped into the classroom, he was met with "oooh"'s from multiple children sitting on one big carpet. His face reddened slightly. "Oh, you just be Kurapika!" Kurapika turned his attention to a heavily pregnant woman sitting in front of the children. She had shoulder-length hair and wore a pink sundress. She attempted to get up but Leorio started to freak out. "Oh no! Pyon sit down. You're pregnant, please!" She rolled her eyes at his comment and sighed. "I would introduce myself but Leorio's big mouth covered that for us, huh?" She laughed as Leorio muttered a sorry. Pyon turns to her class. "Hey, kids. This is Mr. Kurapika. He most likely going to be your new teacher," she says. The kids gasp and whisper small things like "really?" and "huh?". "Unfortunately, I have to stop working for a bit because of my baby. Mr. Kurapika, will be taking over for me. But I promise to come visit," Pyon continues. She looks back at Kurapika, "Why don't you introduce yourself?" Kurapika hesitated for a moment. He was probably going to stay with these kids for a while, it'd be best.
"I'm Kurapika-."
"We know!" one kid exclaimed.
The Kurta was taken aback by the comment but he laughed it off. "You're right," he says, "I'm from the Luskos Province. I loved there for all 20 years of my life and I'm so excited to start living here and to get to know everyone here." Kurapika decided to leave it at that. He didn't want to bring up anything about Kurta Clan. There was an awkward silence. Pyon clasped her hands, ending it. "Thank you, Mr. Kurapika. I'm sure the kids can't wait to work with you either. It's probably best for you to finish your tour." Kurapika nods and looks back at Leorio, who was opening the door. He turns back to the class and flashes a kind smile. "Thank you for having me here today. There's a good chance I'll see you again." Maybe Kurapika would take the job. Everyone keeps referring to him as the "future teacher". He couldn't let those kids down.
Leorio and Kurapika said their goodbyes to Baise and were soon standing outside of the classroom. "They seem nice," Kurapika soon says. Leorio lets out a chuckle before responding, "Yeah, they're so sweet and adorable." The taller boy starts walking out of the hallway and goes down the one they were originally in. He stops at these three doors. Two of them were across from each other and one was in front of him. "I work in these two rooms," Leorio says, pointing to the rooms across from each other. "If you need anything, I'll most likely be in these two rooms." Kurapika took a peek in the room on his left. Seven toddler-babies were playing on a carpet. He lets out an "awe". Leorio grins proudly as if they were his own kids. "Yeah, they're awesome!"
"They must be since their caretaker is so so sweet," Kurapika said in a sing-song voice. Leorio winks at him before placing his palm in the back door- the only door he didn't go over. "This leads to the playground. You'll get a schedule and you'll know when to take them." Leorio flashes another mesmerizing smile at Kurapika. Kurapika attempts to smile back but he can't stop thinking about how attractive Leorio is. The two don't say anything for a while. "Should I walk you out?" Leorio asks. The smile remains on his face, however, it's awkward again. Kurapika nods for like the hundredth time. "Yes please."
The walk up the hallway was silent. Why are you so weird? You see one hit guy and - ugh! The Kurta thought to himself. Gel wasn't at the front desk anymore, leaving Leorio and Kurapika in the lobby. Kurapika walks towards the entrance of the building, but he's forgetting something.
He turns around and looks at Leorio. "I'll see you in a week. I'm taking the job."

I am not making any of this up, only altering minor details as necessary that may be too identifiable.
It is long, so for sanity, full dets under the cut.
TL;DR: Whoever’s writing this crap (aka my life) is a hack, and needs to stop relying on the “medical emergency” trope for preventing my job from having a functioning level of staff.
Context: I work at a daycare center in the Midwest of the USA. It is not a chain; however, the owners own multiple centers in the area. Combined we would count as a large business, so of course that’s not how it is on the books (means they can work us longer before overtime, etc).
At the beginning of our story, there were three open centers. AC, the “flagship” center, with a director who is part of the owner’s family. BC North and BC South were purchased next, and, how can I nicely say it…. Half a step up from Ghetto? I am not joking, when I was working at BCN and my mom visited, she said she wanted to pull me out of there. BCN functions, barely; BCS is a few blocks away, and despite the owner’s insistence should never be reopened in my terrified opinion - never has had staff the 5 years it’s been under them, fortunately. CC has been open for 40 years, and purchased by the owners when the previous owner retired three years ago. I work at CC now, and hands down the best place just because we have a functioning director, which enables us to keep functioning staff (half of which were under the previous owner).
At the beginning of the year 2021, none of the three open centers had enough staff. We advertise openings like crazy, but it’s hard underpaid work. So what does my brilliant *cough* owner do?
Buy two buildings in two different nearby cities to convert into new centers. Because he thinks he can get more staff if he’s hunting in new cities??? idk
Not buy two new centers like he’s done previously, with existing enrolled children and staff - two non-daycare buildings to convert.
Note: I talk about “older” and “younger” rooms in this. By licensing, children are in a specific age group based on chronological age, with some overlap to allow for development (e.g. At 16 months, an infant can be a toddler, but you can also delay until 18 months without paperwork). My center has enough physical rooms we further separate infants and preschoolers by development/sanity; toddlers are in one single room. Also, “Lead” teachers are the ones in charge and have extra paperwork; assistant level teachers (like me) can also run a room but are more likely to go crazy if left unsupported (like me). Aides are considered unskilled enough that they can’t be alone with kids, unless there’s a pandemic going on and we’re just trying to have any warm body in a room….
So, that’s the context of this insanity before March 2021, when the lead teacher who was on maternity leave returned to my center and I assumed we could settle down into a stable pattern for a second.
I am a naïve idiot.
First we lose two experienced full-time positions, a preschool lead teacher and the kitchen/support staff, who are both leaving to move closer to their (different) families because personal reasons. Understandable. We have a new teacher-level staff we can have work the younger preschool kids with our returned (excellent) older preschool lead. Our director will just - do the kitchen work until we can find a new kitchen worker…. I guess? 🤷‍♀️ We’re also training staff to work the ancient dishwasher to help…
At this point CC officially implements a “no new children” policy. We will still accept the children we already promised a position before (mostly infants), and older preschool has a lot of kids leaving for kindergarten throughout the summer (as some parents stop day care during their own summer vacations). We can… Manage.
And our best part-time assistant teacher graduates and moves, but ok.
And then our second-best assistant teacher get a job in her field… ok…
And then the pregnant Toddler assistant teacher is put on bedrest for a month we are praying for her…
Ok two new hires, one an Aide but with experience excellent…
. What. No seriously what.
So, the director of AC is - long term sick. I won’t share details. This leaves us with two directors for three centers (Ideally, we would have four; one’s supposed to be Executive Director…). Here, logic is (strangely) applied and BCN is closed down and the children that chose to stay with the owners are moved to AC. Considering they had, I think, three total staff (one for each age group) not counting the Executive Director that had been covering that insanity…..
(We are also under the impression that the owner is stalling construction on those other two centers-to-be, but with our owner who knows….)
Anyway, the three staff will be helping at the other centers - specifically, the Toddler staff will work some days at AC and some days with is at CC, which is awesome because the Toddlers are drop dead insane right now.
Not joking. We have a biter in remission, an older girl with an attitude and her younger sister that had to move up with her when 16 months because the mobile infant room is packed but my young infant room had movers that had to change rooms, there’s a pack of three boys who just egg each other on, the leader of that pack was visiting preschool but started using the N word at relevant children (obviously, we have zero tolerance for that…), and the two youngest just-moved toddlers are screamers (they got better in the mobile room… they’ve regressed…).
And it’s 16 Toddlers (depending on the day) crammed into one area (that can be divided into two play areas, fortunately), at a 7 to 1 staff ratio.
So what happens last week? That Toddler teacher gets sick. Then goes to the hospital. Then, I am not joking wtf, leaves a vague text message to my director about a surgery I can’t even…
I just. What.
The Mobile Infant Room has a casual biter. Like, there is no provocation, this kid (who is giant and all muscle) just crawls up to kids and bites. The other 10 babies in there are generally ok-ish, but I don’t know how they are surviving.
Both preschools are…. Well, better than the Toddler room now that the one child is taking the summer before Kindergarten off praise whatever deity you worship hallelujah. Still have kids that need breaks in the director’s office but not as often.
My room, which is now 6 infants ages 3 to 6 months, is my default the easiest to manage.
And 4 of these 6 babies come in between 7:45 and 8:15 (the other two earlier), all want a bottle between 8:30 and 9:00 (we have two staff and policy is one bottle per staff…) and some of these kids take 20-30 minutes for a bottle (do the math)…..
But by about 10am we’re settled and we generally have them ready to wait for the next round of bottles staggered…
And the projectile spitter-upper is improving! They’re only spitting up about 1.5 oz a day, instead of multiple 2 oz random attacks!! 😊
………. My brain is mush send help.
