My friend Griffin just told me about Grandma Gatewood this past weekend and then this book comes to me today out of the blue!!! Synchronicity! I never heard of her, even being a Trail Angel, but she had 11 kids, took care of travelers and her family. I had also learned she was abused but of course a kids book can't get into that part for little ones. AT hiker Gypsy Queen stayed last night and was super sweet!! She headed back out on her 16 day hike as a section hiker on the #appalachiantrail for 2019. She did the whole trail in 2016 and just loves it so much she hikes parts each year after just to enjoy the hike at her own pace.
