Today, Netherlands had a fight with his provinces over who looked the best during the seventeenth century. They all insist it was them.

My Himaruya's style version of APH Flevoland by @askfryslanandholland! It's a sketch, I'll finish her soon.

She is the youngest province, who was created on 1986 after the unification of Urk and Schokland islands with polders, based on the Flevopolder, and having her name from the Lake Flevo (which existed on Roman times).

If you like it, please follow the original artist, she makes cute drawings and her knowlegde of the Netherlands it's great! Her OCs are so cool.

Belastingdienst sounds kind of like plassendienst, Leentje can't pronounce such a long word yet and made her own word. Tim is very concerned what she means by this.

Flevoland

((I’ve started a project where I’m personifying the provinces of The Netherlands! They’re based on my own knowledge and experiences with different cities and people in the provinces!

Introducing the land from under the sea! Flevoland is sat on the place where once the sea used to be, but thanks to modern pumping methods was able to be reclaimed. Solely made by humans, she’s just a little bit vain. Because she’s made from the seafloor she’s got strong connections to it and likes to go to the beach and collect seashells. Her capital city Lelystad is a cute name as it stands for Lily City!))

((A casual reminder these are all the provinces that have appeared so far (and are available for asks, mind you!):

Flevoland: The youngest of the provinces. He came into existence around 1940, but only became an official province in 1985. Because he's the youngest, he's still developing his identity. The other provinces (and Aletta even more) tend to baby him a lot. He himself doesn't like that very much, but realizes he can't really do anything about it. He figures they mostly use him as an excuse to celebrate certain children's holiday's (like Sint Maarten).

Groningen: The most northern of the provinces. She represents both the city of Groningen as the province and poses as a student in the city. She used to be part of Frisia's land, but fought for separation, which has led to some bitter feelings between her and Frisia. Because most of her land is rural, the other provinces often think of her as a country girl (this isn't completely incorrect). She sometimes feels her worries are being ignored or not being taken seriously by the other provinces and cities. Her motto is "Er gaat niets boven Groningen" (Nothing stands above Groningen).

Frisia: The province who's appeared the most on the blog. By far the oldest of the provinces, seeing as she has been representing everyone who calls themselves "Fries" since ancient time. She prefers to speak in her own language (Fries), even when the others can't understand her. She suffers from the same problem as Groningen, being quite a rural area and sometimes isn't taken seriously. Then again, she doesn't quite care much for the other provinces and has voiced her opinion about becoming independent (she most likely won't go through with it). She's very passive agressive towards Groningen. She might be Koen's mother.))

Utrecht: "According to my little brat brothers, as they texted in the family group chat; she was scared, then curious, and then I was called in a hurry to go babysit her. She won't stop crying, I'm going to go insane any second-.."

((Oooh, this pains me to say but Leentje [Flevoland]. I LOVE the little girl so much, but she's barely got any history since she was created last century. Literally. She's the one made out of reclaimed land from the sea, and got the province status in 1986.

Fun fact though, Ludwig tried to kill her off during the development by stabbing the dikes while retreating at the end of WWII as a form of last retaliation.

One other fun fact is that the city of Urk is actually super old and has been yoyo'd between several provinces throughout history since it was an island, and with the advent of Leentje, they just... shoved it onto her.

But other than these little tidbits, Leentje doesn't have much history nor backstory as opposed to the other provinces because she's so young.))
