charles edits on tiktok + drive to survive, lmao. i'm one of those bitches. sorry not sorry!

but! i will say! what greg james said about f1 resonated with me because i have never ever really cared about physics or engineering in any deep or substantial way. and now, i am avidly reading people like supermak's incredible posts talking about downforce or apexes or deltas and car configs, looking at the charts and the data, and i just think that is a really fun place to be.

f1blr and f1 fandom so far has been a nice confirmation that multiple things can be true - yes we want to make the vroom vroom boys kiss, but we also care deeply about the ethics of the sport, the growth, about driver + team stories, driver pipelines and equity and race excitement and engineering. i think it's really cool these things can coexist.

the sport never should be one thing to one group of people, you know? (wow that ended up longer than i thought.)

2. Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

charles, and still charles lmao. unfortunately.

i am an oscar piastri enthusiast also. i think there's a bit of recency bias at work here but he's come swimming like a fledgling shark into the shallows with his deadpan personality and i'm just very intrigued by His Whole Thing.

i want good things for yuki! and lewis! my GOAT!! give the man his 8th :( (it probably isn't happening but lets' not manifest that.......)

TL;DR it's been a joy getting to "know" the grid (or at least as much of their public persona will tell us) and getting into the lore. *shaky hands* the LORE!

also nobody asked, but, schumacher was an omnipresent name when i was growing up - which might give away my age - but he always felt like an old school driver. in the sense of his mythos, his mystery, his dominance of the track. that era of f1 is over and the sport only moves on and evolves, but in the same way his presence felt a lot more removed and unrelatable to me, and far away. the speed of technology now and broadcasting and social content makes f1 feel more fun and accessible. it feels a lot nicer to find fandom spaces like f1blr where there are different audiences (female, queer, a variety of ages and backgrounds etc) yelling about the same things.

it's just a different time, not a value judgment. but i am enjoying it.

3. Who’s your current favourite F1 driver?

see above, but i'm 100% here for lestappen having a track battle next year only for oscar to pip them to the podium in one of the races lmao. i think it'd be amazing.

i got my sister into f1 at around the same time but she's not indicated any preference on drivers yet tbh. she's a casual fan. must be nice being normal.

haven't seen enough of them to say, 'cus i only started following like two months ago as the season was winding down. i looooved Vegas '23 though and the legendary charles overtake. he's just so fucking smart and cunning when he's given the conditions and the car to be. watching Abu Dhabi '21 on replay was also a TRIP.

7. Do you have a favourite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.

i'm still learning them. but i'm mildly curious about the old tracks like nürburgring - it was from a totally different era of the sport and it'd be nice to rebalance the long tracks with the current spectacle of street races even though that doesn't seem to be where the sport's moving towards.

8. Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.

i actually live in a place with a track... i had a free ticket for general access once many years ago but that was pre-f1 hyperfixation, and at that point i didn't understand the appeal at all. idk.

i feel like f1 is actually a better experience for me to watch on tv as a fan.... probably blasphemy i know.

9. Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?

no and idk that i would because i've seen celebrities in person in the past and it's usually so quick and transactional because they're surrounded by hordes of handlers and/or they're usually running somewhere even if it's a fan-focused interaction.

THAT SAID! i would love to attend a talk by Lewis or just generally hear what he has to say, because what he's done is so beyond f1 at this point and he always shows up in terms of advocacy and speaking up, in recent years, where it really matters. he's a fascinating figure, sometimes contradictory, sometimes controversial, but i definitely would love to hear what he has to say.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life has us in the very first days of Year 4 and we just got our first Blessed Tool! We'll be aiming to work on some more rare crop hybrids and expanding our orchard this spring!

Palia is a new multiplayer life sim. We've been testing out the Closed Beta and although I wouldn't call it an MMO and some of mulitplayer functionality is rather clunky, it's a good game for mindless grinding in a non-dangerous world. Gardening is quite limited and very time-gated but I think the home decoration friends will love this one. Open Beta launches on Thursday so we'll be hanging out to see the sights with Cottagers!

APEX Collab is a Charity Farm-a-thon reward! I'll be playing the game for the first time with some friends and although I can't guarantee many amazing plays, I can guarantee plenty of silliness and laughs.

Pictures: Kuwaits new F1-grade track begins first single-seater race weekend | Other Motorsport

Formula 1 has held 36 grands prix at four tracks in the Middle East since first visiting the region in 2004, but it has not explored all the possibilities yet out in the deserts by the Persian Gulf. The world championship has never visited Dubai Autodrome, although in late 2013 the track unsuccessfully tried pitching itself to F1 as its future home for pre-season testing. Since 2019 Kuwait has had its own permanent circuit too, Kuwait Motor Town, which now has the FIA grade one rating required to host F1 races. But this 5.6-kilometre track would never have even been in F1’s eyeline as it had never hosted single-seater cars in any capacity before. That all changes this week, as the Formula Regional Middle East and Formula 4 United Arab Emirates championships visit for a seven-day stay. Each will hold two rounds and, unusually, the competitive sessions will take place on Thursday to Saturday for the first round and Monday to Wednesday for the second. While the definition of when the weekend takes place in Kuwait is not universally agreed upon, all definitions include Fridays. While F1 will this year hold a grand prix on a day other than a Sunday for the first time in decades by introducing the Las Vegas Grand Prix to the calendar with a Saturday slot, it has not adopted similar timetable changes in other Middle Eastern countries with different weekend conventions to Europe. The unusual schedule means the Formula Regional and Formula 4 drivers will each do six races in six days. But that’s not the only strange phenomenon they will be encountering in the desert. Two of those new experiences came on Wednesday, as each series held pre-event test sessions for drivers and teams to acclimatise to the unfamiliar track. With its lack of single-seater racing history, it is highly unusual in being a permanent venue which teams have arrived at with no simulator data, no opportunity to watch onboard single-seater videos online and no way of finding driver feedback from previous visitors. When the FRegional drivers took to the track for the first time, they were then hit by another new challenge: a wet track surface. Rain fell during their opening session and restricted how much running could be completed. Not a single one of the 28 drivers that took part were able to set a representative lap time, and the track only dried out enough at the very end to give drivers some resemblance of how much speed they should carry through corners. As the racing line was still forming, there wasn’t one ‘dry’ line which gripped up particularly more than others. That left those drivers then using their second test session to truly learn the track, and figure out between them what was the quickest way around it. The 20-corner anti-clockwise layout is predominantly filled with high-speed corners, with several of those being long multi-apex sweeps that would be taxing on the neck of drivers. That’s a challenge that is experienced irregularly, and of the nine anti-clockwise tracks on the 23-event F1 calendar, only five of those were staples of the calendar prior to 2020 and only two are routinely used by more than one F1 feeder series. Of the little preparations teams had been able to ahead of this week’s trip to Kuwait, they had expected a hot, dry and dusty track. They certainly picked up a problem with sand in the air, as seen in pictures taken during Wednesday’s test, but instead temperatures were cool and there was in fact. There will be eyes on Kuwait Motor Town from other international single-seater series and the FIA this week, to see what kind of racing the track will create and if the weather is predictable enough for them to visit too. this is basically an entry for the 6th because damn... I CANT EVEN RMBR WHAT I DID!!! but i didn't sleep until 5pm (after class!) cause i was awake the night before like.... my sleep is so fucked (っ- ‸ - ς).. i ended up cancelling on the guy and the photoshoot and rainchecked for friday instead because i was too fucking tired like actually i was so wrecked.. and i just didn't feel like it either. i had too much to worry about and i had a long day of class (WHICH I WENT TO! ALL OF MY CLASSES TOO!!)

anyways,, i woke up at 1am because oomf called me :D and then we called for till now lol, it's actually 8am now,, i wrote the first half before i got distracted lol..

anyways,, i ate after i played APEX WHICH LEMME RANT REAL QUICK ABOUT!!1 ( ｡ •̀ ᴖ •́ ｡) so season 23 of apex rn is literally OG APEX. THEY BROUGHT BACK EVERYTHING FROM LIKE THE BEGINNING OF APEX BC THE GAME IS DYING!!!! and it's fun and forces me to play battle royale bc THERE'S LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE TO PLAY BUT BR OR RANKED. THEY GOT RID OF ALL THE MODES. AND I CAN'T EVEN PLAY FUSE BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY A FEW LEGENDS U CAN PLAY.. sickening.... but anyways. it's still fun i guess... i just hope throughout the season,, they add more things. or im literally gna barely play this season and this will be apex's last chance... (╥‸╥)
