‘Father’
🥽 hiii Apex community did you miss meee (no I know I barely post here anyway)
I started working on this comic like a year ago and I think I was originally going to plan more but I never ended up finishing it sooo in the spirit of me getting back into Apex a bit (don’t fret Overwatch is definitely hanging around for a bit longer still)
I decided to spruce it up a little and post the more updated comic onto here!
Also planning on uploading here more since tumblr is nicer to artists than instagram erm
Ig if y’all want context this is part of my AU so if it seems out of characters it’s because it is! On purpose, promise. Also Caustic’s dad is kind of important in my AU and I wanted to focus some more stuff about him, also I like drawing Crypto and Caustic interacting like normal siblings💀

I'm sorry.
I'm just laughing over like... overwatch fans being mad at me for saying their game isn't that fucking great at queer rep.
it has TWO LGBT characters who were openly LGBT as SOON AS THEY WERE RELEASED.
that's fucking Lifeweaver, added to the game in 2023, and Venture-
a fucking nonbinary character who ISNT in the game yet.
do you understand why this is laughable?
overwatch has been around for 8 fucking years and it took a fucking sequel to force them to reveal characters were queer from the get go.
for the past 8 years, they've been queerbaiting mercy and pharah, while hocking how canon gency is, they have been teasing roadhog and junkrat, barely, and I guess.
if you MUST defend blizzard.
you can say well it's ok they did reveal tracer was a lesbian on Twitter and then they admitted soldier 76 was gay literally 3 years after he was released, and then they made pharah a lesbian and baptiste bisexual- literally 7 years after pharah was released and 4 years after Baptiste was.
yeah.
so progressive revealing that in random comics and lore bits that barely show up in game, if they ever do. and I haven't played overwatch in a while, because I have a high degree of respect for myself, but from what I fucking remember, soldier doesn't say shit about his boyfriend, if he even has one, tracer only makes a reference or two to Emily, who might as well be her sister with how mild it was.
and I vaguely recall Baptiste flirting with ana. and pharah as far as I know has never ever said anything about all the hot chicks she dates on the side.
and that's it.
that's your amazing queer rep.
you have two queer characters from the start who were not retroactively made gay, and one hasn't even been released yet.
good work, blizzard.
so revolutionary.
y'all know blizzard is an American company and gay marriage has been legal in the US since 2015?
whereas apex legends literally started OFF in 2019 openly stating hey this character is trans and this one is nonbinary and this one is gay and this one is a lesbian and these TWO literally hit on men and women- oh also the pansexual and nb PLAYABLE CHARACTERS are dating and they flirt and dote on each other in game-
but I'm getting flak from you weirdo blizzard fans who for some reason think blizzard is worth your devotion?
even if it was good at queer rep, I am not sure if fucking blizzard and OVERWATCH 2, one of the biggest monetary scams in all of gaming are the hills you want to die on.
but at least you'll be dead.

Got some more :D
1: what apps do they like to use? I can see them using twitter & maybe TikTok; probably do silly videos on there.
2: did Nightwing & starfire, plus mar’i tried to hide their superhero identity from Jake? (Probably did the same before mar’i got her powers too.)
3: how would a starburst duo movie start?
4: besides spider-man, do they like other spider-man stuff like the venom movie?
5: do they play battle royale games? I can see them both playing Fortnite (& doing the dances both in & out of costumes) but Chris likes COD Warzone & Jake like apex legends.
6: silly question, since they are pre-teens almost & have girlfriends, what do they prefer: butts or boobs? or personality XD
Sorry for the wait @gothicghost2000 But Here we are XD
1. They have three primary social apps: YouTube (the first one respectively), Twitter and Tumblr. All three apps have specific tools The Duo can use for their particular hobbies and interests, Tumblr for example being the blog space where they can give their predicts and hypotheses about their favorite ongoing shows and where it can go from there.
YouTube is their video library place, for all sorts including live streams, recaps of favorite shows/games, and yes thank to the Shorts function, TikTok style videos. Chris and Jake thankfully have both Jake’s tech expertise and even Oracle on some occasions to help them make sure they don’t get busted for copyright by the algorithms.
2. Not entirely actually. Even as a toddler, Jake was a relatively smart cookie and everyone knew it so before he was able to piece it altogether by the time he was 3 to 4 in his own way, Dick and Kory came clean to him about everything and even Mar’i pitched in about her training to one day be a great superhero like Momma and Daddy are since she has powers while Jake’s are still not kicking in.
I can just imagine little Jakey looking at his family, taking it all in and then finally breaking the silence saying “Does that mean I blast lasers from my eyes too later?” Akin to when Marky found out his powers at the end did the original Invincible comic
3. Basically I’d have first a colorful and detailed title sequence that through simple comic panels and even some motion comic elements, details the basics of how the Duo were born, Chris’ arrival on Earth and adoption by the Kents, the two first meeting as little kids who look up to their parents as their heroes, Jake’s power first kicking in when fending off a bully at school, the Duo training on their powers together and gaining renown slow but steadily, then once the title scene ends, we open with a bang as we are catching up with the Duo in the middle of a massive superhero battle in Metropolis against all sorts of baddies and villains, something akin to the opening shots of Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith
4. They have a good laugh and thrill at the first and second Venom movies respectively. They also are big time fans of the Spiderverse films; there actually is a strongly passionate debate between Chris and Jake over which Spidey films are better. Chris vouches for the Raimi trilogy while Jake sides firmly with Spiderverse. Other than all that though, both also watch every single Spidey animated series, good or bad, collect what their friends online consider the best runs in both Marvel Prime and the Ultimate Universe (the latter Jake is really into thanks to his Uncle Tim(my) loving Ultimate Spidey) and regularly playing co op on the Playstation games
5. Only once a month really and it’s mainly Fortnite. I can’t really see them playing COD or Apex not just because those two are more FPS centric which even if fictional in universe doesn’t sit that well with them for various reasons, but also for COD especially there egregious money practices from all that miscellaneous DLC, Lootboxes when they are a thing, battle passes, etc. it just doesn’t sit right even if technically Jake can be considered a millionaire’s kid at best
6. Personality. Full stop. Even if they’re aware of the more scandalous and fanservice side of true love, they have the content of a female’s character above physical appearance of any kind. Chris and Jake respect girls and women, plain and simple.

so, the owl house ended a while ago and here's something i've been pondering about. were there any belos followers who refused to change their ideology? in hollow mind, king says something very profound:
"No one wants to think they've wasted their life following the wrong person."
now, according to what we know, luz did get proof that the emperor was a false prophet who was planning on committing genocide, but did everyone else in the boiling isles get to know about this? i don't really remember if the news actually spread. i mean, during the draining spell, most witches were ecstatic and put their full trust in belos.
granted that they started to die because of the spell, the collector saved them almost immediately and then turned them into puppets. there wasn't much time to process everything that happened, or piece together that the emperor was evil and trying to murder them. it could have been a spell gone wrong, for all they know.
and based on real life experiences, we know that people don't just stop following someone they've respected and looked up to their whole life, even if there is solid evidence of said person being bad. there have been a good many instances of people worshipping and following absolutely horrible people of authority, and completely ignoring or justifying whatever atrocities they have committed. the boiling isles may be accepting of most people, but i think there may still be some who believe that belos was doing the right thing.
i'm a big fan of unintentional consequences in media. a supposed happy ending leading to a new problem. two instances of this trope done well is the legend of korra and infinity train (spoilers ahead in case you haven't watched them).
in legend of korra s3, zaheer and the red lotus kill the queen of the earth kingdom, in the name of anarchy and freedom. while it was a good riddance, given that the earth queen was a selfish tyrant, this directly leads to kuvira in s4 turning into another tyrant, because of the chaos zaheer caused.
similarly in infinity train, amelia the false conductor is defeated and she starts to redeem herself after realizing that she can't change the past. but this directly leads to the formation of apex and their rebellion, misdirected by the belief that amelia was the true conductor.
anyway, if the owl house had more seasons, a sequel series, a comic, something of that kind; i wonder if they would explore the aftermath of everything that happened in the finale. would there be belos followers, demanding justice for him? would there be other witches and demons who are questioning their entire lives and identities, struggling to come terms with this new truth? would there be people who would immediately shift to worshipping the new "authority", like lilith did with king? how did the coven heads cope with this?
i think it would be really interesting to focus on.

Ever since teleporting superhero RADIANT PINK (her secret alter ego) started guesting on her streams, her view count has skyrocketed-and fame and fortune are surely close behind. But when a charity appearance is interrupted by a squad of mercenaries hunting for the Radiant that powers her, Eva will find herself very far out of her comfort zone.
All Against All #1 (of 5) - Alex Paknadel & Caspar Wijngaard
In All Against All, it is the distant future. Earth is long gone, but a race of alien conquerors knows as "the Operators" have preserved its most savage animals in an artificial jungle environment they barely understand.
With no bodies of their own, the Operators move from world to world, harvesting bodies for the organic exosuits they use to wage their endless wars. Ignored and underestimated by his captors is the habitat's sole human specimen, Helpless. However, when their efforts to find and harvest an apex predator intensify, he gives them far more than they bargained for.
Hexware #1 (of 6) - Tim Seeley & Zulema Lavina
Why sell your soul...when you can buy a new one?
In a corporate-ruled world where class inequality is greater than ever, a desperate, lonely populace is drawn to neo-spiritualism and hedge magic. When their teenage daughter is murdered, the Marks family is left asking the gods what they did to deserve this. But their android maid, Which-Where, has a different approach. Perhaps if she asked the devil...
Know Your Station #1 (of 5) - Sarah Gailey & Liana Kangas
The wealthiest people in the solar system abandoned the Earth for a private sanctuary in space, leaving the rest of us to die amidst cataclysmic climate change. But the 1% won't be safe for long...A murderer is on the loose, specifically targeting the super-rich. Soon Elise, an employee of the billionaire's space station, is wrapped up in a deadly investigation, with each issue featuring a new, diabolically different kill!
Quested #1 - Michael Calero, Thomas Parson, Kit Wallis & Kim Jacinto
Quested fuses the attitude of Hellboy and the fantasy-adventure spirit of Legend of Zelda as it follows the questing misadventures of pawn shop owner and morally ambiguous hero-for-hire, Jinx, through a world filled with lizard henchmen, dungeon-bosses, and unicorn burgers! "Episode 1: Faux Highness" When a plan to take advantage of a desperate king trying to protect his daughter goes wrong, Jinx and his two accomplices (I mean guild members!) find themselves actually having to save the princess.
Dahlia In The Dark #1 (of 6) - Joe Corallo & Andrea Milana
A washed up hitman, Donny Dahlia, takes one last job transporting a package cross country in the hopes of seeing his estranged daughter again. Little does he know this job is going to get him caught in the middle of a war between the fairy realms that could determine the fate of humankind. Dahlia in the Dark is a fast-paced, action, fantasy thriller about family and hidden truths.
Rainbow Days GN Vol 1 - Minami Mizuno
These four friends couldn't be more different: Natsuki Hashiba, a dreamer who longs for love, Tomoya Matsunaga, a self-centered playboy, Keiichi Katakura, a winsome guy with a hidden saucy streak, and Tsuyoshi Naoe, a socially awkward nerd who loves anime, manga, and games. Together their high school days are as vibrant as rainbows!
Gargoyles #1 - Greg Weisman, George Kambadais & David Nakayama
One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled. It was a time of darkness. It was a world of fear. It was THE AGE OF GARGOYLES. Stone by day, Warriors by night, they were betrayed by the humans they had sworn to protect...frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years. Now, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and they live again! They are Defenders of the Night! THEY ARE GARGOYLES!
Series creator GREG WEISMAN and illustrator GEORGE KAMBADAIS reintroduce the Manhattan Clan, a family of Gargoyles at full strength, though modern New York City is full of attractions and distractions, and each member of the clan has begun to go their own way. But their bonds will be tested, when nefarious factions from all across the world attempt to steal that rarest, most precious of possessions...an unhatched Gargoyle egg!
Yakuza Fiancé GN Vol 1 - Asuka Konishi
Yoshino grew up as the yakuza princess of the Osaka Somei crime family. Everyone left her alone due to her sharp gaze and mobster ties. But when her grandfather signs a truce with the Tokyo-based Miyama crime family, she's offered for betrothal to the Miyama leader's grandson, Kirishima. At first, Kirishima seems amiable and polite-but when he shows his dark side, he proves to be more disturbing than any gangster Yoshino has ever met. This engagement is sure to be a wild ride for a tough yakuza princess and her twisted yakuza prince!
Whatcha picking up this week, Fantomites?

itemization in league feels so fake, your only choices are like 3 boots, 3 sources of anti heal and maybe 8 items tops and none of them feel like they have a material impact on the flow of the game so much as they change the feel of "how fast will i make this guys head explode"
i just don't think there's Real flexibility in that game in terms of feel, everything just feels like a contset to build hte biggest stick to hit somebody with and you can't get an item stun, item silence or item hex and buying actual utility on carries feels So fucking heavy that it makes you basically a wet paper towel character so there's that added deterrent to building to adapt
I watch worlds every year and the pool of champs is like 18 wide, and the build diversity is non-existent because items in league kinda just suck ass sometimes, god it's such a shitty esport despite having a decent structure to follow. I wish it was less like it is because its identity as a moba is honestly just so so so so boring and that's not even getting into that it's one of the only esports with such a comical talent disparity across regional lines that you have to be a fucking NTR connoisseur if you're an unironic NA or EU fan and you delude yourself into thinking you have a chance at winning anything m,ore than 6th place
If I had to say some esports that are decent to watch: rocket league, dota 2, siege, counter strike and apex legends (surprisingly it's very ordered, and interesting)

Amazon acquires Tomb Raider, and EA cancels Apex Legends Mobile, Battlefield Mobile, and Titanfall 3! Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox no-shows at E3!
🕹️ The Console War Rages On
Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo will be no-shows at E3 2023!A new report by IGN has indicated that Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo will skip the yearly show, which finally returns to an in-person event since the pandemic started. While Xbox will return to Los Angeles for its annual summer showcase, they made no indication if it will be part of the E3 floor. Sony has not been a part of E3 since 2019 due to potentially ongoing issues with the Entertainment Software Association. Xbox, however, noted that they have a good relationship with the ESA. There are rumours which indicate that Nintendo will not have any big hitters after The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and as a result don't think the cost of an E3 booth makes economic sense. The report also notes that despite the new event organizers, ReedPop - who handles multiple other large conventions such as Star Wars Celebration, New York Comic Con, and PAX - there seems to be a lot of mismanagement of the event as a hold, with promises made with publishers last fall. Still, as of December 2022, the promised bookings have no information. (Source)
PlayStation has not cut PSVR2 production! In response to a Bloomberg report, PlayStation states that it has "not reduced PlayStation VR 2 production." According to GamesIndustry.biz, the company is "seeing enthusiasm from PlayStation fans for the upcoming launch, which will include more than 30 titles such as Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Call of the Mountain, and Resident Evil Village." The initial report indicated that Sony was significantly reducing its projections for PlayStation VR 2 and cautioned its supply chain partners that production could also decrease. According to the source, Sony has halved its original forecast for PSVR 2 shipments from two million units for the headset's launch quarter to one million. The PlayStation VR 2 release date is 22nd February. It will cost $550, and 37 titles are scheduled to be released during its launch window. (Source)
Embracer Group has leased Tomb Raider to Amazon!Amazon just acquired the 'Tomb Raider' rights from Embracer Group in a deal valued at approximately $600 million, making it Amazon's second largest commitment after purchasing the television rights for 'The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings'. Consequently, this provides context for the cost and commitments that Embracer may be seeking. (Source)
EA cancels Apex Legends Mobile, Battlefield Mobile, and Titanfall 3!According to three individuals who know the situation, Electronic Arts Inc. has cancelled a game based on the Apex Legends and Titanfall franchises. Respawn Entertainment was developing the game for EA, which had not yet been announced publicly. Tuesday, EA, one of the largest video game publishers in the world, issued a disappointing revenue forecast for the current quarter. The company announced the cancellation of the mobile game Apex Legends and a mobile version of Battlefield, as well as the closure of the studio responsible for their development. EA also delayed Respawn's highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in development. According to management, EA will attempt to place the approximately fifty members of the unnamed game's development team. According to individuals who know the situation and request anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media, those who cannot be placed will be given severance packages and laid off. Titanfall Legends, or TFL, was a cancelled single-player game set in the same universe as Apex Legends and Titanfall. Seasoned designer Mohammad Alavi directed it until he left the company in early 2022. EA made several hints about the game, which was not advertised, even though it was not announced. (Source)
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp gets relisted!Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon Canada, and EB Games have relisted Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. Initially scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch family of systems in December 2021, the collection was delayed indefinitely due to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. Now that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has reappeared on numerous retail sites worldwide, speculation has arisen that Nintendo is prepared to commit to a release date for the compilation. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a WayForward and Nintendo collaboration. (Source)
Horizon Forbidden West gameplay leaked for its Multiplayer!Co-op gameplay footage from Guerilla's forthcoming Horizon: Forbidden West has allegedly leaked online. The video was brought to light by the game's official subreddit community and u/BirdonWheels, who claims the footage - reportedly shot in "summer 2020" - is "very old" and includes a "join-PC" and "join-PS4" option in the alpha build, indicating that the game may eventually support cross-platform connectivity. While we glimpse some combat, the video focuses primarily on the game's environments, characters, enemies, and potential skins. However, as the footage is almost three years old, a lot can change in that time, so don't be surprised if the final game looks or plays very differently from what we see in this leak. (Source)
Hi-Fi RUSH performs exceptionally well! The shadow-dropped game from Tango Gameworks during the Xbox Developer Direct showcase has found its way onto the top 10 best sellers for the week ending 29th January 2023 on SteamDB. Indicating that the game has done exceptionally well. Hi-Fi Rush is a rhythm-based action game for Windows and Xbox Series X/S developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was announced on 25th January 2023 and released the following day globally. Chai is a self-proclaimed "future rock star" whose music player is accidentally implanted in his chest during experimental cybernetic surgery, allowing him to sense the world's rhythm. Chai, labelled a "defect" and hunted by the corporation that transformed him, unites with new allies to defeat the company's executives and thwart their schemes. The Black Keys and Nine Inch Nails are licensed artists featured on Hi-Fi Rush. (Source)
📈 Financing the Bits & Bytes
In its most recent financial results released on Monday, the publisher reported that it sold 29.1 million games to consumers in the nine months leading up to 31st December 2022, an increase from the 25.8 million games sold during the same period in 2021.
And with continued sales of catalogue titles and the upcoming release of Resident Evil 4 on 24th March – a week before the end of Capcom's fiscal year – the company expects to sell more than 40 million game units, which would be a record for an entire year.
Capcom anticipates that 90% (36m) of these sales will be digital downloads and only 10% (4m) will be physical, with 75% (30m) being catalogue sales and 25% (10m) being new releases (Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and Resident Evil 4).
The company attributes its current sales figures to the release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak and its continued pursuit of digital sales, including the sale of catalogue titles primarily comprised of Monster Hunter and Resident Evil games.
The company sold 2.75 million copies of Monster Hunter Rise, 1.5 million copies of Resident Evil 2, 1.45 million copies of Devil May Cry 5, and 1.35 million copies of Resident Evil 3 in the nine months leading up to 31st December. Each of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Street Fighter V has sold 750 thousand of units.
Despite massive unit sales, Capcom's sales revenue has decreased year-over-year, which the company again attributes to the release of "a new major title" in the same period of the prior year, most likely Resident Evil Village.
Net sales were 79,671 million yen for the nine months ending 31st December 2022 (down 9.6% year-over-year), operating income was 33,332 million yen (down 5.0% year-over-year), and ordinary income was 33,564 million yen (down 7.1% year-over-year).
Capcom expects these to be completed by the end of the fiscal year (31st March 2023), indicating that it has high hopes for Resident Evil 4. This would be Capcom's tenth consecutive year of increasing operating income. (Source)
According to the company's most recent financial report, 7.1 million PS5s were shipped in the three months leading up to 31st December 2022. This is nearly double the number of units sold during the same quarter last year, which was 3.9 million. According to Sony's earnings reports, the company has now shipped 32,1 million units of its latest generation console, which is in line with the 30 million lifetime sales figure disclosed at the beginning of January.
The global chip shortage significantly impacted production, making it difficult for the company to meet the demand for its new console for most of its two-year lifespan.
Isabelle Tomatis, vice president of brand, hardware, and peripherals at Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated earlier this week that PS5 consoles should now be more widely available at retailers worldwide.
Nikkei reports that Sony has increased its operating profit forecast for the end of the year from 1.16 trillion yen to 1.18 trillion yen (approximately $9.1 billion). Even though the new forecast still represents a 2 per cent year-over-year decline, a Bloomberg-quoted analyst was impressed by Sony's performance in light of the struggles of the entire technology industry.
An analyst at Morningstar Investment Service, Kazunori Ito, remarked, "Given the current global demand environment, it's astonishing that Sony's earnings are in line with expectations."
Aside from this, PlayStation Plus subscriber numbers increased marginally to 46,4 million quarter-over-quarter but were still lower than 48 million in the same quarter of the prior year.
Nevertheless, network service revenue increased by approximately 17 per cent, indicating that Sony's revamped PlayStation Plus subscription tiers are increasing average revenue per user.
VGC notes that Sony will need to continue selling PlayStation 5 consoles at a similar rate to reach its 18 million console sales target by the end of its fiscal year in 2022. This will necessitate the sale of an additional 5,2 million consoles in the quarter ending 31st March.
This objective may be attainable with the 22nd February release of the highly anticipated PSVR 2 headset and what appears to be a large-scale marketing campaign. (Source)
✨ Going to Events Spiritually
Xbox Games with Gold for February 2023 sees For the King and Guts N Goals added to the service. (Source)
PlayStation Plus members get four new games in February. Take on demonic Deadites in Evil Dead: The Game's asymmetrical multiplayer mode, grind and trick your way through the vibrant world of Radlandia in OlliOlliWorld, and live the life of a Prohibition-era gangster in Mafia: The Definitive Edition. In addition to these titles, Destiny 2: Beyond light joins the roster this month as a bonus game. From Tuesday, 7th February, through Monday, 6th March, all four titles will be accessible to PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium members. (Source)
🎮 Where's My Controller?
I have only been playing IXION for this past week. The game is addictive. I will be doing a written piece on this in the future. Most likely when I complete the game itself.
🎵 Turn it up to 11!
Since I've been obsessed with IXION, you need to hear the metallic contemplations across the stars with Guillaume David's excellent soundtrack. The soundtrack adds to the tense contemplations you will have to make as your resources dwindle and you frantically turn off factories and mismanage your population before their inevitable revolt. 📝I don't know what a pen looks like.
I recently my new piece on Megaman 11: "Does Megaman 11 deserve to be the best-selling game in the franchise?".
Megaman 11 brought the classic blue bomber back to new heights, and with that, it took the title of best-selling classic Megaman title. Capcom had pre-emptively purchased the domains of Megaman 12, 13, 14, and 15. With the glaring success that Megaman 11 has, there is still a demand for classic Megaman. That raises a question, though, Does Megaman 11 deserve to be the best-selling game in the franchise? You can read the rest here.
I also recognize some of you may not want reviews sent to your inbox. I will provide a new newsletter specifically for Reviews & Think Pieces in the coming weeks.
This week's newsletter was a bit more intense than I usually do. This is part of my plans to expand Void0Media. You will receive a taste of the Financial section I've been working on for a while. That portion of the letter is currently in Alpha, and tracking and compiling financial reports/data can be more time-consuming than a simple news digest. Once it exits Alpha, I will place it behind a paywall, which you can access via our Patreon. This is not absolute, and I would love to hear your thoughts and feature requests for the newsletter in the comments section here.
Be sure to use the "More Like This" or the "Less Like This" buttons at the end of the newsletter to let me know your thoughts on the newsletter.
💖 Enjoy this newsletter?
Forward to a friend and let them know where they can subscribe (hint: it's here).

Big-ish infodump on Caustic rn because I surprisingly haven’t talked about him surrounding my AU/ kind of rewrite of Apex??
(With some doodles ig)
So this whole thing started out with me just not liking the Medusa arc that much or the mole arc and then I looked into it some more and realized Caustic is horrible representation for ASPD, I’m in no means an expert, but I know being a violent murderer isn’t exactly one of the symptoms 💀
Then I just- hated his relationships throughout the game
So much unnecessary drama between him and the others that could’ve been either avoided or resolved completely, and I’m aware the fact is that it’s drama, but it’s bad drama, imo at least, and I wanted to revamp Crypto and his relationship especially since I’m tired of tropes with transracial siblings not getting along and the fact that many poc, understandably, felt like it was racist, and I’m not even gonna blame them because it feels like that sometimes, I want their relationship to stay complicated but I don’t want them to completely hate each other. I feel like they’d be kind of awkward for the most part I just want the fuckers to be relatively happy and all respawn is doing is making me mildly uncomfortable with every update about them.
Besides that, I’m working on why/how he becomes involved into death and such to even kill people in the first place, but other than that he’s almost completely developed
He’s still killed people he just kind of stopped I have no idea how to explain it rn he is a very complex and weird guy alright-
He still experiments on people, though it’s mostly bodies, kind of like how it’s- I think is hinted at during the mole arc??? I can’t tell what was happening in that comic tbh I just think it’s an interesting idea for him to get his stuff from shady places and shit, I still have to catch up on the older chapters because I joined right in the middle of the shitstorm
I’m also trying to develop his relationship with other legends that isn’t just hatred
For example he’s friends with Wraith kind of, (it gets shaky after his fight with Wattson which still happens because I’m not trying to make him a complete good guy or smthn), Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Fuse, and Mirage. (Pathfinder too but he’s friends with everyone so), he ranges from liking the company of these guys to tolerating them, but it’s never always completely the same, because ya know sometimes friends have bad days and that’s fine. I want it to fluctuate because again I’m not like- trying to make him perfect.
I feel like everyone else is either neutral, indifferent, or just weary of him.
I also redesigned him because erm
It’s fun
I actually took most of his design aspects for my AU from one of his beta designs (I literally tried my best to add the specific one I’m talking about but Tumblr literally kept breaking on me)
Because I think it looks very pretty to me
If you look at some of my older posts of him you can actually see me doing this for a while now
Because I have.
I’ve been working on this for- I wanna say 3 years?? Maybe more idk.
I might post some of my older Caustic character stuff when I was first getting into it but some of it comes off as….uhhhh-
Very biased.
Don’t get me wrong I still am it’s just more apparent in my older stuff, I wanna try getting away from that in my AU because uh I don’t like it so-
Anyway
I like re-writing characters it’s a big hobby of mine when smthn about them irks me personally, you can like canon Caustic btw I do too, this is just smthn I mostly do for fun anyway
Most of the stuff I’ve changed about Caustic have all just been personal headcanons (example being he is a trans man) or things that I felt like would make the story more interesting than what they were initially doing (his dad dying of the same cancer he has), I’m not gonna ramble and put them all here but I’m thinking of making separate posts about them or probably rough comics-
Maybe even fan fictions if I’m feeling brave enough, because I have a few.
#digital art#digital drawing#my art#art#digital illustration#digital doodle#yaybow art#caustic#caustic apex legends#caustic apex#apex legends#digital sketch#digital fanart#doodle#yaybow ramblings#fanart#this is my first time sharing my thought process like this#so it’s probably a little sloppy#I felt like I would give context at least because I do have more art with Caustic and it will not make sense if I don’t lmao#anyways uh this is mostly a comfort au that I decided to share#a lot of characters are redesigned because of personal reasons and stuff

High on Life Steam Sales Skyrocket Alongside Pc Game Pass Success
High on Life Steam sales appear to be off to a great start. According to SteamDB, the irreverent comic first-person shooter game by Squanch Games, founded by Justin Roiland, co-creator of Rick and Morty, has overtaken Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and FIFA 23 to claim second place behind the Steam Deck on the weekly top sellers list. The fact that Microsoft's PC Game Pass subscription service offered High on Life alongside its Steam release may be even more impressive given that it hasn't prevented the game from enjoying strong sales on Steam. In its report for the week ending December 18, SteamDB lists High On Life in the number two spot, just behind Valve’s Steam Deck (which consistently tops the charts thanks in part to its much higher price point). Valve’s own charts report it coming in at number three behind the latest Call of Duty game in both UK and US regions, though they are often slightly slower to update than external reporting sites. Industry sales metrics reporter Benji Sales notes that High on Life is the fourth most-played game on Xbox, coming just behind MW2, Fortnite, and GTA V, and pushing ahead of the likes of free games Apex Legends, Roblox, and Overwatch 2. He adds that the title is “also performing very strongly on PC Game Pass.” On Microsoft’s Game Pass ‘most popular’ lists, High on Life ranks top for cloud streaming, and is second only to the unstoppable Microsoft Solitaire Collection on PC. It’s certainly looking like a success story for Squanch Games, showing that there’s plenty of desire for sweary space shooting. Our High on Life review notes that the game is a “love letter to fans of Roiland’s previous work,” with solid shooting and creative boss battles, but that the shooting isn’t enough to carry the game if you aren’t a fan of its brand of humour. If you do decide to dip in, however, check out how to get the High on Life secret ending to make sure you see everything the game has to offer. Read the full article
