new sink vibes✨ Fresh fixtures and that barely dried paint smell brought me so much joy this week. 16 washer and dryer combo for apartments we tested in 2023
https://wabestreviews.com/washer-and-dryer-combo-for-apartments/ A combination washer-dryer consisting of two or more washers and dryers, usually coordinating colors, shapes and designs. They come as standalone devices that are also found in large laundry centers. The washing machine is packed with a water reservoir and a water level sensor that tells the machine when to start a program. The best top-loading washer and dryer sets use more water on each cycle, so they're not much more efficient than front-loading ones, but they do have the advantage of being very easy to use. If you're looking for a washer and dryer combo for apartments, check out the models below.

So after 8 months of patiently regrowing my Alocasia ‘silver dragon’, it’s finally showing signs of new life and growth. Even though the one corm doesn’t have leaves, it’s still viable with new healthy root growth. It’s been a long recovery with these babes, but I finally wanted to repot them in a fresh pot with some new soil. I also was able to test out my new @replicasurfaces for this repotting demo. How amazing does that concrete surface look🤩! Check out my full review and images over on my new blog post (link in bio) :: Let me know in the comments below what plants you have that are slowly coming back to life👇 :: :: #apartmentbotanist #apartmentproducts #replicasurfaces #photography #photoprops #alocasia #plantcare #productreview #diy #plantdiy #planttutorial #alocasiasilverdragon #apartmentplants #apartmenthacks #apartmentliving #myrescueplant (at New York, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvwnDIognmp/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=loiufo21nzr2

CREATE: HOME SWEET HOME TO MY VERY FIRST APARTMENT
Oh the sweet feeling of moving out and being on your own. After two years of making a forty minute drive out to my college at LEAST three days a week, I am finally able to move out of the rents’ place and move in to my own off-campus apartment for the next year. Well... not all on my own. I will be sharing the space with three girls, two of whom are my sorority sisters, and I am beyond excited for a real, university campus experience!
Come August I will be transitioning into my junior year of college, and as a pre-physical therapy student, this is one of the most stressful years. My schedule will be completely packed, 18 credits each semester, and there was just no way in heck my parents were going to allow me to drive five days a week to campus! That would be mentally and physically exhausting, and there would not be much time for anything else in my life. Plus, I am very blessed to have a leased car, however the miles on that baby would skyrocket and that can just not happen.
So, here I am, broke as hell, Pinteresting each and every day of my life, staring at these awesome apartment hacks, and dreaming of being able to spend some money on my new room.
Here are some interesting ways I have found to S A V E while moving out!
First and foremost... ask everyone you know. Aunts, uncles, grandma, grandpa, cousins. They can really hook a sista up. So far, my grandma is giving me a beautiful, expresso wooden futon that doubles as a bed for my room; as well as a glass top kitchen table. My grandpa contributed two bookcases that have been sitting in his garage, one of which will be used for my storage space organization, the other for use in my room. Aunt is lending me a flat screen TV and stand.
Another great way to cop some stylish accessories is searching through your own basement/shed/storage space. I know my mom has a ton of old decor in boxes because her style changes year to year, let me tell you. So I have already started a box with some little things to spice up my new space.
Secondly, you’re going to want to cruise over multiple options, compare prices, and decipher what is really a necessity! For example, desks from ikea start at around $50, and for a bigger one with more space go up to $118. They are beautiful, wooden, strong and spacious. Wayfair on the other hand has desks starting at $100, that are metal, not as sturdy, nor do they have as much space. So don’t be quick to buy, look around.

Thirdly, a little goes a long way. Accents such as curtains, decor, and DIY ideas make a huge difference in decorating! It’s better to use what you have to decorate rather than blow money on things you don’t NEED.
That being said, rather than dreading the sight of your outdated cabinetry that is installed in your new place, try buying some new door and cabinet handles! These can be as cheap as $2-$3 a piece and make a HUGE difference. Swap out old lamp shades instead of buying brand new lamps, and change the existing ceiling fixtures to your own.
Another great idea I will be using is painting your old furniture. Those bookshelves my grandpa’s donating that I mentioned before...yeah, those guys are looking really rough. Instead of turning an offer down for something I really need, I decided to redesign them myself. Consider painting over existing stuff instead of buying an entire new piece. To do so, remove the hardware like handles and screws. Lightly buff the piece with some sandpaper, then use two coats of the color of your choice. Finish it off with a clear coat and call it a day!

I recently found out about this amazing gem called Countryside Craft Store. It is located on Van Dyke right before hitting 18 mile in a little not-so-noticeable shopping complex. So the place has a bunch of little “booths” that crafty locals rent out and sell used, refurbished and/or handmade stuff! My mother and I passed by here on Mother’s Day and I found out my mom actually had a booth there when I was younger to make extra money, painting old furniture to look new again, so we stopped in the old place. It had the coolest antiques, dining ware, decor, and tons of furniture and wall art. They also had sweet stuff like salt rocks/lamps and artsy/homemade journaling supplies for sale. Stuff you can’t find at a Target or typical home store. I found a cute little turquoise buddha statue there after seeing the SAME statue in a Pinterest post about a week before and I had to have it!

Another way I love to save money (not exactly) and buy awesome stuff is through Affirm offered by Wayfair and other sites. This option is amazing because the interest rate is not too high and you can get amazing stuff you normally couldn’t just buy on a whim. My total on Wayfair was $108 but using affirm, the total increased to $114, only a few more dollars! With Affirm, I can pay $38 a month for 3 months... and I don’t even get charged for the first time until June 25th! Plus, it is a great opportunity to raise your credit as you repay your Affirm loans.

I know I said only get what you need beforehand, but for a girl like me who LOVES bohemian decor, these beauties were a need! I searched and searched, going through all of the curtains different sites offered multiple times, attempting to find similar options that were more affordable. But I just could not find anything I loved more than these. I purchased these ruffled bohemian style ivory curtains. Yes, they were a bit on the pricy side but I believe spending a little extra money on a great purchase that you fall in love with is absolutely worth it and this is a purchase I can save and bring to my future home someday!

Utilize your entire space. Your first apartment typically will not have a vast space for things. My bathroom is pretty small. Enough room to hop in the shower, wash your hands, and sit on the toilet, nothing more that that. I found out about this really neat thing though, called over the toilet storage. I need something to stack towels, tissue, and other toiletries on and since my bathroom is not big enough for a shelf and floating shelves would not be secure for too many objects, this item was the perfect match. Check out this lil guy I got for only $23 on Wayfair.
Tumblr media
Create your own artwork. Go on Pinterest and search some good old DIY ideas! Don’t waste money on things you can make yourself for way cheaper. I found this great one reppin’ my sorority off Pinterest and decided to make it from home. Start by painting the background. I used tan since the walls at my apartment are white. Then paint the stripes, and let dry or use your blowdryer to speed up the process. After drying, grab a sharpie and go at it with some cute cursive lettering!

Just noticed one of my roommates stuck a dryer sheet in the air vent in attempt to make the room smell clean. I guess it works, cause our living room smells nice. #collegeliving #apartmenthacks

Ya gotta admit that, if you drink beer or wine, this is so much smarter than buying water globes and throwing your empty bottles away. (Wine bottles are great for big containers, or super thirsty plants.) This keeps plants in containers watered and happy, even in Florida heat. #gardening #lifehacks #containergardening #apartmenthacks
