I was gonna save this as the onscreen return livestream discussion, but knowing that the team behind AoT no Requiem is working long and hard on the next entry had me thinking "Let me act on this now"   because man the stuff that has occurred in Part 3 really something for the story.  Similar to the previous streams I've done this will be an in-depth analysis/breakdown video of Aot No Requiem.

If BNHA ends like Naruto did and Izuocha becomes new Naruhina, I'd better start stocking up bottles of wine to get fucking drunk!!
I swear to god, if this manga ends in such underwhelming way, I'll have to ask mangakas how do they manage to fucking do that!! Cuz there has to be some kind of bullshitery skill!
AOT, Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto, etc.. many, many manga has ended in such way and honestly, I think it'a time that even after years I really should get used to Code Geass having THE BEST ENDING in anime history (ft. Kimetsu no Yaiba, kind of, but then again the author is a woman and she rockes for it, even if it was kinda rushed).
Lelouch, you and Suzaku's ending will always be iconic, fr. Imagine dying at your bff's hands while you also make him take up your secret identity. King Emperor behavior!
Once again, Hiroshiki wtf are you doing with the ending???

Attack on Titan AOE vs. Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth Parallels
Alright fam. This is my ultimate multi-fandom post! This will go out to fellow AOT x FFVII fans -- especially those who have been looking into the AOT/ANR theories regarding AOE.
Obviously there will be heavy spoilers for both Attack on Titan as well as for Final Fantasy VII (OG and Remake).
Recently I've dived into the theory and lore to FFVII and a LOT of it lines up with what's been theorized for AOT regarding different medias being different timelines for one entire story:
For AOT, the manga is theorized to be a different timeline than the anime.
For FFVII, the original game (OG) is now officially implied to be a different parallel timeline than the current Remake.
In AOT, Eren and Paradis Island's fate from the Manga ending is death, that Paradis is still destroyed despite everything he does to prevent that. In the Manga, he reaches 80% Rumbling and then dies by Mikasa's hands; a sacrifice he was willing to make in order to allow Mikasa, Armin and friends to be heroes and live long lives (which they do) and for Paradis to survive -- however the cycle of hatred still continues on when Paradis is bombed, negating most of what he acted towards.
Before I get into this next part, let me also mention that the Cabin dream is implied to be a previous or parallel timeline -- in this, we see Eren die; his eyes slowly close, fading to black to his peaceful death as Mikasa says, "See you later, Eren..." which directly reflects the beginning pages of the manga of the moments and words he sees just before he wakes up underneath the tree. In other words, when Eren dies in Cabin timeline, he awakens to what we know to be the Manga timeline. It's a peaceful wakeup, sitting up against the tree as he had been sitting at the Cabin during death. He doesn't cry -- he only wonders why Mikasa's hair was long (because when he saw her last in Cabin timeline, her hair was short). Then the manga story ensues, leading up to his inevitable death by Mikasa beheading him -- a violent, gruesome death in the Manga...
...To which he wakes up in the Anime, in fright and shock, laying down on the ground with his head laying directly where Mikasa had laid his headstone in the Manga post-war, as if he'd just woken from his violent death in manga.
This is very similar to what is actually happening (not just theorizing) with FFVII right now.
In the original (OG) game, Aerith is killed by Sephiroth while trying to save Midgar/the world from Meteor destruction, then her soul is essentially absorbed into the Lifestream. In the end, Cloud defeats Sephiroth (who also goes into Lifestream), but in the process, Midgar is still completely destroyed by the Meteor as it was too late to completely save everything, even if the rest of the world was saved.
There are already some parallels here:
Rumbling = Meteor. The world is saved, but still experienced mass destruction. Lifestream = somewhat like Paths, allowing people to transcend time/space/etc.
However a big thing paralleling AOT theories is that the FFVII OG game ends with Aerith (remember, she was killed), surrounded by Lifestream energy, closing her eyes... Then the Remake game opening with Aerith, surrounded by Lifestream energy, opening her eyes as it leads to the new game unfolding.
Aerith woke up in a new timeline.
And there is plenty of evidence throughout the Part I that shows that she knows what is fated to happen based on the OG game/previous timeline:
She knows details about Cloud even though he didn't share/she acts like she already knows him well.
She gives him a flower because he's a 'special' customer, and says that the flower is a symbol for when lovers reunite.
She knew that the Plate would fall and destroy Sector 7, even though Tifa and Cloud were doubtful, but she couldn't tell them. (Tifa: "Aerith... What are you not telling me?")
She knew Tifa wanted her to save Marlene, even before Tifa even said it
In the special cut scene between Cloud and Aerith, she tells him with sadness that everyone dies eventually. And she advises Cloud to never fall in love with her (because she knows how that tragically ended in the original). She KNOWS she's fated to die.
And these are ALL differences from the OG game -- Aerith didn't have any of these reactions, dialogue, thoughts, sentiments before. She is implied to be operating in Remake with the knowledge of how things ended before: that she would be killed, that Midgar would still be destroyed, that Sephiroth would still be alive.
Except this time, with all that knowledge of OG fate, Aerith is now trying to actively veer things away from the tragic fate and destiny laid out before them. (Side note, Whispers are also game-original and are trying to reel things back to fate/destiny. Also, Sephiroth, being part of Lifestream from OG, is also operating with the knowledge that he failed in the OG. Like Aerith, Sephiroth is trying to change destiny.)
And if that isn't enough yet to convince you that it's a different FFVII timeline... ZACK IS ALIVE. They show him make it out of the battle that killed him before. It is an entirely new journey. (I will cry if/when Zack and Aerith reunite)
Now we circle around right back to AOT.
Like Aerith, Anime Eren is theorized to know how things ended in the Manga: his death, Paradis' destruction, etc. He gained this knowledge when he kissed Historia's hand (in both anime and manga), gaining access to memories of the future... and of the past. But not just memories of the Anime timeline. Founding Titan Eren is interconnected with Paths, the way Aerith is to Lifestream, both of which surpass time itself, as we've seen with Eren/Zeke traveling through his memories. (There's a lot of imagery alluding to Manga art intertwined with Anime, but that's a sub-sub-sub-theory)
There is also a side theory that Aerith transferred memories to Red XIII (as she pressed her hand to his forehead upon meeting) because he was already most attuned to the Lifestream itself, and he becomes her aid almost. Likewise, there is a fun theory regarding Eren using Falco as a messenger/Falco receives memories from Eren (which is why in Anime, Falco recalls memories of 'flying around with swords'... Which couldn't have come from Ymir Freckles. You can only see memories once you HAVE the Titan shifter; Falco at the beginning of S4E1 was still just Falco. Falco has also already been used as a messenger of Eren's letters. Falco is also one of the most neutral characters who shows empathy and understanding of both sides. He is a special character. If AOE happens as theorized, many think Falco will play an important role)
Now there is a certain tragic ending that we think Isayama has been alluding to for forever. I'm not gonna say it here because some of you will get triggered over attachment to certain characters/ships and whatnot. But the core of it is that we think Eren is going to do things very differently to change the fate and destiny -- that maybe, instead of choosing others over his freedom, instead of only committing 80% Rumbling (leaving enough people to lead to the demise of Paradis)... Maybe Eren will even choose his freedom this time via 100% rumbling, etc.
Honestly, who knows! There may be an entirely new ending that's the best of both worlds for every single fan. (...Sarcastic, though, because not everyone can or will be pleased. Even for FFVII, OG purists are frustrated by it veering off.)
I do not believe AOT Anime is going to end the same way the Manga did even if I have reasons for wanting it to stay the same (y'all know me and why I would NOT want it to end different; there are special scenes between my OTP I need to see, especially post-war) but it's because we've seen many consistent things throughout the anime -- through the story, dialogue, recurring imagery, etc. all for a separate detailed post -- that Isayama could have potentially been foreshadowing since 2013 towards a new ending.
"What's the lie? What's the truth?"
The fact that Tetsuya Nomura (maker of FFVII) is already doing this meta-narrative of having one media/game being an entirely different timeline than the original content is SO cool, and affirms that if Isayama is pulling this same stunt, it's not because of fans trying to riot and change an ending, but because that's... well, that's what could've been planned from the start, and because it's a really unique storytelling technique that would elevate a work by making many pieces come together as one, singular, consistent story in a brilliant way.
Obviously there's no IRL link between FFVII and AOT, but again, Nomura doing this makes it less crazy and more probably for another Japanese mastermind storyteller to do this, too. (And I won't even START on Muv Luv/Muv Luv Alternative! But it's the same thing, too!)
I'll stop there for now. Any AOT AOE x FFVII fans out there?! PLEASE tell me I'm not alone LOL

Films the Crows would like:
Kaz: Trainspotting, Kill Bill, The Killing of a Sacred Deer (even though I think it's bad), Gone Girl, Parasite, Snowpiercer, A clockwork orange, Citizen Kane, Sin City, The Dark Knight, Tarantino films, the Godfather, Come and See, V for Vendetta, Prisoners, Silence of tbe Lambs, No country for old men, City of God, Shawshank Redemption, Kubrick's and Hitchcock's work (except lolita bc that's gross), Hunger Games Trilogy, All of Aronofsky's work (Black Swan, Requiem for a dream etc.), Memories of Murder, Donnie Darko, Fight Club, Taxi Driver, Oldboy, Blade Runner 2049,
As for series he would like Breaking Bad, Death Note, Aot and Vinland Saga, Berserk maybe, Prison Break but like only the first two seasons and The Walking Dead.
Inej: Ladybird, Little Women, Anna Karenina, The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, Lost in Translation, Girl, Interrupted, Everything Everywhere all at once, Nomadland, The Florida Project, Alice in Wonderland (the Tim burton one), Hard Candy, In the Corner of this World, portrait of a lady on fire and Princess Mononoke. I can't really think of other ones to be honest.
I'm not really sure what series she would like. Maybe Ai Yazawa's animes? I'm not sure.
Jesper: Star Wars (the original trilogy and the prequels), Indiana Jones, Life of Brian, Ferris Bueller's Day off, American Pie, MIB, Terminator, Ghostbusters, Scream, Back to the future etc. He definitely likes fun adventure movies. Also a lot of animated movies like The Lego Movie and Lego Batman (masterpieces) and Pixar and Dreamwork's Movies (his favorites being Toy story and Shrek). Also Disney classics like treasure planet and Atlantis. Probably also western movies and he'd idolize Clint Eastwood.
Favorite Series are The Office, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo etc.
Wylan: Perks of being a wallflower, Ladybird, Howl's moving castle, Billy Elliot, Your Name, Dead Poet's society, Stardust, Narnia, La La Land, Lotr trilogy (his comfort movies), Call me by your name and all of Wes Anderson's movies. I think he'd be secretly a huge filmnerd who also loves A24 movies, David Fincher, arthouse movies etc. But I think he would be a bit embarrassed by it.
His favorite series are Doctor Who (David Tennant Version because that's the best one), Fargo and Good Omens.
Nina: A sucker for romance and chick flicks, especially romantic comedies. The Notebook, Mamma Mia!, When Harry met Sally, Mean Girls, She's the Man, badly written Netflix romantic comedies,
She likes reality TV and desperate housewives, sex and the city, friends and modern family.
Matthias: 1917, Saving Private Ryan, All quiet on the western front, Hacksaw Ridge, The Notebook, Dunkirk, John Wick movies and other action movies. My taste is completely different so it's very difficult for me to think of other movies he would like.
I don't think he would watch a lot of series because it takes up a lot of time. Not the guy to concern himself with entertainment and media really but does enjoy a good story.
Feel free to criticize me or suggest other media. Maybe I should also make a list about the music they'd like?

About Jeankasa, I agree with some people that it's not an interesting ship. EreMika is more toxic but I can see people liking it more because Eren turns into a giant monster. RivaMika is also more exciting because they're both super-soldiers and Mikasa used to hate Levi. But the thing that bothers me about Jeankasa is some of the shippers wanted a AoT no Requiem ending but still expected a happily ever after for their ship. I'm sorry, but if Eren won in that type of ending, NO ONE except Historia would've survived and that's a fact.
Yeah, Jeankasa is bland. I don't hate it, but I feel bad for Jean. Actually, he and Mikasa did talk after a while, but it had nothing to do with romance. He's a great character, but I hate that he was reduced to being a third wheel. He had better chemistry with Pieck. Their marriage feels like it's for convenience. I feel like if Eren had won, then he would have located Historia and run off with her. There might be a few survivors, but Eren and Historia would obviously not want to be scrutinized. Eremika is beyond toxic. I never saw the appeal. I used to think that Rivamika was incest along with Itachi and Izumi, but they're not. Eremika is so toxic that it'll burn any hazmat suit. I actually don't mind people who ship Jeankasa. Unless they're the Levi and Mikasa are related bullshit.

Let's talk about the endings of Code Geass and Attack on Titan
Tumblr media
I've been watching an episode of Code Geass every week since June of last year. This week I have to watch the end and I couldn't help but think about the end of AOT. An anime that I was finally able to watch in 2024. You all already know that when the final chapter of the AOT manga was published, fans began to compare The Rumbling and the Eren's arc with the Zero Requiem and the Lelouch's arc. I'm not going to compare The Rumbling and Zero Requiem because others have done it and you can do it perfectly without my help. I don't think it needs to be demonstrated that The Rumbling is an imperfect plan. Eren is neither a genius nor a strategist. He also doesn't have a great understanding of human nature, unlike Lelouch, whose plan did take that into account and was the key to achieving peace in the world of Code Geass.
Instead, I'll compare AOT and CG as tragedies. I see that there are important similarities between both endings and I find it intriguing that one ending was universally loved, while the other ending had a mixed reception. And I think studying it from the point of view of tragic composition can reveal why.
I clarify that these are my reflections on both endings. Talking about the endings of CG and AOT is complicated and I feel that a thorough analysis would require me to go into more depth. Additionally, I watched AOT once and although I visited some videos on Youtube to improve my understanding a little, there may be some important variable that I didn't consider. Anyway, this is my perception.
To begin with, both series analyze the same problem, but reach diametrically opposite conclusions. That is to say, the difference lies in the focus of the discourse and the cathartic effect that is well achieved in CG and that is unsuccessful in AOT (catharsis is the emotional effect that seeks to awaken fear and compassion in the public). I explain…
CG and AOT are tragedies that tell the story of a civilization that lost its identity at the hands of a power and seeks its freedom. Both emphasize the will to live, despite that there is misery and suffering in the world. In fact, the final message that both series transmit is similar. We can feel fear in the two endings since both animes stated that war is endless because humanity is prone to falling into conflicts and repeating the same mistakes (from there derives Schneizel and Charles' contempt for the human condition and its decision to impose eternal peace through the Damocles and the Ragnarök Connection respectively).
AOT highlights violence and hatred as inherent traits of being human. From here arises the emblematic phrase "the world is cruel", to which another is soon added: "but it is also beautiful", because, as Zeke and Armin explain in the talk they have, life is full of seemingly insignificant moments, which, in reality, give meaning to life and for that reason it is worth fighting for. However, the hopeful message is diluted by the conversation between Armin and Eren and the epilogue as they demonstrate that the Titans weren't the problem, but human nature. Human beings are fundamentally self-destructive and only survive on impulse. That absurd thing called the "will to live." So it's like people don't learn anything and only get what they deserve. As a consequence, a feeling worse than fear remains: horror.
On the other hand, CG maintains that it is worth fighting for since people will never stop seeking happiness. The world is constantly changing and always manages to move forward. So, even if things are bad now, they will get better in the end. Therein lies the importance of the future and, by extension, hope, which is Lelouch's philosophy and one of the pillars of the Zero Requiem. So it doesn't matter if people forget the Zero Requiem and go to war again. It's in their nature to learn to be better and make the world a better place. So humanity isn't only the problem, it's also the solution. It's a more optimistic approach that sheds a light on the human race, which becomes worthy of compassion.
Something similar happens with Lelouch and Eren. They're both tragic heroes. The ignorant think that a tragic hero is one who gives his life for a cause or humanity itself and that definition is incorrect. A tragic hero is a virtuous hero who is above average, but suffers as a result of his mistakes and shortcomings, becoming the author of his own downfall. Eren possesses the two most powerful titans and Lelouch is the prince of the oppressive empire with a genius intellect (and later acquires a magical eye). They're even characterized by having unwavering determination and clear convictions. That's why they stand out among other humans. Ironically, Lelouch and Eren turn out to be a contrast character for each other due to a substantial difference that is in line with the message that both series want to convey.
Eren is a boy who became a monster. He terrifies us and we are supposed to sympathy with him since he is a monster spawned by war. He's a bit like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein's monster (he is a creature that society transformed into a monster). But instead, we feel pity for him, at best, or disgust, at worst; since Eren really used selfless reasons (ensuring a happy life for his friends) to carry out a selfish plan (imposing his own vision of the world). In the end, Eren became an instrument of destiny and a slave to his freedom.
Instead, Lelouch is a monster who learned to be a man. We are afraid and we sympathy with Lelouch because he imposed the punishment of death on himself so as not to allow himself to enjoy the new world with his loved ones and thus atone for all the atrocities he committed. Let's say that, unlike Eren, Lelouch used selfish reasons (punish himself) to carry out a selfless plan (save the world). At last, he always acted on his own will, had control through Geass and political power, and abandoned all of that because it was the right thing to do.
If I have to compare the feeling that these animes left me with tragedies, I would say that CG left me like Sophocles' Oedipus while AOT left me like Seneca's Oedipus. With this I don't mean that AOT is a retelling or a copy of CG. What I mean is this: in essence, Seneca's Oedipus and Sophocles' Oedipus tell the same story (the tragedy of Oedipus), but in different ways and Seneca's Oedipus has a very dark tone, so when the resolution that we all know there is no catharsis. It's simply "what had to happen happened."
AOT definitely has a darker tone while CG has a brighter tone. I hate the word "realism" since whenever we use it to describe a story it is to refer to unsatisfactory situations and I believe that reality is much more complex than that. However, I seem to remember reading that Isayama said that he wanted a realistic ending to his work. And, indeed, it is consistent with the tone of the story, but it is not the most appropriate way to end such a gloomy tragedy (AOT needed a cathartic effect). On the contrary, CG has a romantic tone (in the sense of romanticism). It doesn't make it any less realistic than the ending of AOT, but prefers to focus on other parts.
In the end, AOT and CG are two sides of the same coin and I don't consider it a negative. The same stories need to be told again because humanity forgets easily. And anyway, AOT and CG have different approaches and I think their messages can complement each other.
Additionally, I'm aware that some extracted a much more positive reflection of the human condition with AOT and I won't deny that there are certain moments in Isayama's work that rescue the virtues of human nature. For example, without going any further, the baby scene makes it clear that people can bring out their best version in the darkest times. However, I have to disagree with them. Given the epilogue and the resolution of his protagonist's arc, the message Isayama communicated to me is that there is a predisposition to evil and destruction in human nature that we should be concerned about. The lesson I learned from Zeke and Armin's conversation is that we should look for beauty in the midst of the horror of the world by enjoying the simple things in life.
In comparison, the resolution of Lelouch's arc and the ending of CG is completely cathartic and its message is even more powerful and emotional. That beauty is in us.
PS: For the record, I don't believe nor have I said that the ending of AOT is bad.

Stew's Fic Recs
Tumblr media
Home to all the fics that I highly recommend, short, long or chaptered.
Yellow by @eiflawriting (Nanami x Black Reader, chaptered)
Stew's Thoughts: When it comes to chaptered romance, I usually have a hard time sitting through it but this fic grabbed me by the throat and sat my ass down. And I sat. I'm actually not in the jjk world like that (i stopped at chapter 20 for like two years now and haven't touched it since lmao) but you know a fic is absolutely amazing if it can bring you in with you not even knowing much about it's canon source material. I highly recommend this and I'll forever give Alfie her flowers for this because this was beautifully written.
Reverb by @chrollohearttags (Eren x Black Reader, chaptered)
Stew's Thoughts: This is another chaptered romance that grabbed me by my throat and I paid attention to its order. This is ongoing as I write this and I honestly enjoy every chapter and can't wait for future chapters because I know Cherry will go above and beyond every time. I'm a sucker for the exploration of characters that aren't the reader and their thoughts/motives on the things around them. Cherry's way of conveying that is inspiring to me. If you're one for music, and its industry then this is the on for you.
Rogue by @redcoaster (AOT, chaptered)
Stew's Thoughts: Oh my god where do I begin with this one. This fic has been by my side since Middle School and it is monumental and so important to me. (lmao if you look thru the comments you can find one that i left) This fic is actually what sparked my love for non self ship fic as well as influenced the way I write. I highly HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants a very immersive experience. This story is based on the idea of Eren never existing; only his titan. This is an ongoing fic btw! The author has also created fanart to accompany the fic and I totally suggest for you guys to check it out on her page!
Requiem of a Redemption by @mangalover4321 (KNY, chaptered)
Stew's Thoughts: Okay so, I just started reading this (I'm on chapter 13 as I write this dont spoil me yall) and when I say that this had me sucked in IMMEDIATELY???? Some of you may already know that I'm an absolute sucker for all things Shinjuro (horny and otherwise, he's an interesting fellow) and angst so when I come across a fic that has that and I get to witness him suffer and try to reconcile with his sons? Oh, I'm gonna swallow it whole. All jokes aside, this fic is really amazing and I truly enjoy reading how another person writes Shinjuro and how his mind works.
Mistake and Jealous by @comatosebunny09 (Rengoku x Reader, imagines)
Stew's Thoughts: These two are honestly in my top ten Kyojuro Rengoku fics and I love how Bunny easily pulls me in. The tender moment in Mistake is to absolute gush and die for while the heartfelt moment of saving in Jealous is enough to make one's heart skip a beat. I truly enjoy these works by bunny and I wish I could read them again like it was my first time.
If you wish to see any other fics I recommend, no matter the length, style or content, then check out my stew's recs🍲 tag below!

Just reached S4P2 where the ED changes to Akuma No Ko and for the first time I noticed the parallels to AOT’s ED 1 of Mikasa.
I think I did a mini breakdown of some AOE theories than can be linked to ED1. To Mikasa, that knife must represent the one she used as she unlocked her Ackerman powers — it also can be as much a symbol of her love for Eren since her love started the day he saved her life (knife). So the multiple, countless bloodied knives surrounding Mikasa could represent the many timelines in which she has met and fallen in love w Eren (kill kidnappers, be saved, wrap scarf, etc).
On Eren’s side in Akuma No Ko, though, he’s holding the same bloodied knife in the same position, even similar starry background, but instead he is surrounded by grown white flowers in place of the field of knives shown in ED1.
The color white represents purity — unstained, untainted. Could these white flowers represent the timelines (aka all) in which Mikasa survives? But then, in the midst of the field of white flowers, there is ONE which blood is dripped upon. Maybe this single bloodied flower represents the one timeline in which Mikasa is killed.
I also noticed in ED1, mikasa’s scarf unfurls and it transitions to 3 birds, whereas in Akuma no Ko, Eren’s scarf unfurls and transforms into a single phoenix-like bird. Phoenixes represent rebirth… new life… restarts. The phone is bird is flying but then is kept in a cage of darkness, shattering the bird to fragments and sprinkling below before another Kid Eren suddenly is surrounded by beautiful COLORFUL flowers… and an ABANDONED Paradis (rather than a destroyed modernized Island). Is this the timeline in which a new ending is born — one where Paradis survives and Eldians are free to roam the world?
So many cool theories but it’s fascinating that these parallels I’ve never seen would still line up w the AOE theories. Again… we’ll never know if this was all intentional, until the very end. 😭
Until then…
We keep moving forward 😉🤣
