Blue-tinted raindrops splatter against the window as he zips up his bag. Condensation climbed up the opposite side of the glass overnight, freezing into lacy strands of frost.

He pulls his coat over one shoulder, fumbling with the sling. Earlier, he could still see a crescent of the moon. He hadn’t thought it would rain, yet the sky has been blotted out by deep violet clouds. 

Someone knocks on the door to his hospital room, sliding it open. 

“Good morning. It’ll take a couple of hours to discharge you, just so you know.” 

“Oh. Thank you.” Yukio glances at his phone. He cleaned up most of his belongings last night since he was told he might be released today. Although Sir Pheles is his legal guardian, Yukio can’t imagine him coming to help. Calling the monastery this early in the morning would be bothersome, especially since he hadn’t told them he was injured on the mission to Aomori. 

The other option is to call Rin, but he’s already struggling in his classes. Pulling him away for something like this would be unreasonable. 

“Will your father be coming to pick you up?”

Yukio’s hands pause over the buttons of his coat. He swallows, lifting his head.

“Will your father come pick you up?” the woman typing at the computer repeats. 

“No,” Yukio finally manages to say. His hands clench in the heavy fabric of his winter coat as he tries to breathe through the familiar tightness in his chest. “No. I’m sorry. He won’t be. I’ll be fine on my own.”

The woman frowns. Yukio missed her name and role when she introduced herself yesterday. Inconveniently enough, her long, dark hair has covered the badge clipped to her scrubs.

“He signed your forms last night, but we haven’t been able to reach him since this morning.”

Yukio looks down at the form. Johann Faust V. The name is printed in dark ink. Of course. She must have assumed.

Rain strikes the window with a harsh cadence like hail. Outside, the sky has grown darker, laden with heavy storm clouds. It’ll be difficult to carry his belongings and an umbrella back to his dorm on his own. 

“I’ll be fine on my own,” Yukio says with a smile. “Thank you for trying to reach out to him.”

The woman nods and moves on with the remaining discharge paperwork. She must be busy, glancing at her watch repeatedly as Yukio reads and fills forms.

Yukio grips the cheap ballpoint pen carefully and signs his name beside the curled, elegant signature Sir Pheles penned as his legal guardian. Of course, he didn’t tell anyone at home he was injured. Rin has class at this time. It’d be too much of a hassle to bother any of them. 

No one will come pick him up, but he can manage on his own.

A low roll of thunder swells in the distance. He has a feeling this rain will continue for the rest of the day.

By the time he leaves the hospital, first period is over. He still needs to change, so he heads to the old male dormitory. At this point, he’s already missed several classes. Making up the work will take up time he doesn’t have. He needs to hurry before he misses all of second period too.

This broken arm is wearing on him, but it’s manageable. As he sets the bulging folder of discharge instructions aside, his phone vibrates.

This is the monastery’s number. Did Sir Pheles tell them he was being discharged? That seems unlikely. He grabs his bag, holding his phone with his shoulder as he reaches for the door. “Hello?”

“Yukio,” Nagatomo begins, somber and weary. “You should come home tonight.”

Fear climbs up Yukio’s throat. The window rattles with low tremors as a furious gust of rain splatters on the glass. Lightning cracks across the dark sky stained deep blue and grey. 

Months ago, Nagatomo called him as well, in this manner. His voice was harsher then, scarred by the touch of fire. 

Yukio. Come home as soon as you can. It’s Father Fujimoto. He’s—

Yukio clenches his jaw. “What happened?”

“Misumi-san passed away this morning.” Nagatomo draws a pained breath in and sighs. “It… was acute heart failure. With his age,” he whispers, “it couldn’t be helped.”

Misumi?

Yukio’s bag slips slowly from his grasp, slumping with a dull thump to the floor. He shuts his eyes, lowering his head. How long had it been since he spoke with Misumi? He hasn’t been home since starting school.

“I’m sorry,” he says. “Thank you for telling me.”

For a breath, neither of them speaks.

“The funeral,” Nagatomo says, “the funeral is tonight.” 

Yukio nods. “Then we’ll come back. I can let Nii-san know.”

Nagatomo hesitates. “No, I can call Rin. You shouldn’t have to…”

“It’s fine. I’ll see him during lunch.” He can barely recognize his own voice, pale with gentleness and asymmetric calm. “I’m sure he’d rather know sooner than later, and he won’t have his phone in class.”

“Yukio, if you’d rather take the day off…”

Yukio reaches down to pick up his bag. “I’ll be fine. Please don’t worry about me. I’m sure this is far more difficult for you and everyone else,” he says. “Please take good care of yourself, Nagatomo-san.”

Nagatomo sighs. “Of course. Thanks, Yukio,” he says with a tremulous breath, “for always being so reliable. You take care as well. Look out for Rin.”

The call ends abruptly.

Yukio adjusts the sling on his arm, swallowing as he takes a deep breath in and back out. As he gathers his composure, pattering rain taps the window with an impatient rhythm. 

He’ll tell Rin at lunch. It won’t be as difficult for him as it is for Nagatomo. 

He raises his umbrella and steps out into the rain. His thoughts are slow and blunt at the corners, submerged beneath still depths. If he goes back to the monastery tonight, he won’t have as much time to catch up on work. It can’t be helped, but he’s already behind. 

Yukio. Come home as soon as you can.

Home?

His breath fogs in short, scattered puffs as he stops across a bridge toward the academy. 

When his eyes throb, he rests his elbows on the rough stone ledge and takes a deep breath. Bits of moss and lichen cling in the thin cracks. He grits his teeth and shuts his eyes, waiting for the warm ache to subside. 

Wind trails through his uniform sweater, rippling across the tall bridge with a whispered promise of snow. 

What use is there in going home at this point? The one he misses is already gone.

Finished another amazing series Mob Psycho 100

And it was a exceptional experience y’all, ( Spoilers a head for the non telepaths and psychics)

So the last season I heard it was just meh till the end from my friends who whatched it and DAMN they were dead wrong on that mark I LOVE BEGINNING TO END THIS SEASON

Want to talk about each arc that blown me away

Which I don’t have a single clue what the fandom name these arcs so I gonna make some simple names for it

Back to mob arc (1-3 episode)

Was really amazing as a starter for what to come for those school elements that was every episode that was ther. I related to mob so good dam hard that first episode from just his fear of the future and that advice gave at the really helps me get my head looking forward at the future without fear but with excitement for the possibility. Just speech from the teacher was soooo reassuring and I could just understand on that feeling so hard then that yokai hunter episode was just hilarious and cute having mob solves his own problems in such a way that incorporates his passion and reliability was just a real fun time to watch. Having that yokai king( the one that mob made) was cute to seee all of that effort that been put together. And now what I I would say the last place episode and by no means I think it was bad I just felt incomplete but with that next arc it has been a amazing to hint at and show what to come .

The divine tree arc (4-6)

This arc was just sooo good and for it was too reason the eeriness of the first part like how everyone started to ignore mob and starts to be more of a out cast while the religion starts to slowly take over. Like this what was One of favorite YouTuber videos Supereyepatch wolf video about social anxiety horror was about ( and yall should watch that video if you want to explore that same feeling with mob) but yea having that feeling of slowly becoming a outcast is just a fear that now looms over me. And then having those little scary moments of just the spread will linger in my mind for a while. The other part of why I love this arc is dimple from how he was in the beginning and end. I don’t know what the opinion on the beginning of the arc about dimple but I loved how unnerving it was about. The concept of someone takes your place is equally as scary as the becoming a outcast to your friends and I think it went hand by hand perfectly but the ending with dimple was sooooooooooo good like I thought oh easy back stab here but the genuine kindness that mob showed actually made him change and I love that soo much and how he made mob go home made me cry actually tears with that wave because aaaaahhhh I can’t really explain it in words but if anyone can explain please do but it was so gooood.

Space arc( 7-8)

This was just a cute nice simple arc. I just love how it expanded so much with occult club members and it just so cute and wholesome having them together, and the message of make memories is resonating to me sooo hard. Wanting to make a friend dream a reality is real heartwarming and how it explored more on a different psychic is really interesting and love that new character so much with his excitement for the adventure. And the aliens was just a treat to because having them there made sense in that strange world of mob psycho and having them either real or not really didn’t matter but just making them real felt so complete.

Final (9-12)

Okay ao I. I don’t want dismiss the other parts of this great season but wow this is the best way to end a series like this one from the amazing action to the most heart felt speeches and the overall tone of this felt soo right. Having experienced this was great bringing back last season big bad was a treat and the fights were great but that running scene from Reigan was just immaculate just him running towards Mob as the world turns to ruins it just amazing. And I love how each character ending was felt so complete like with Teruki Hanazawa him with that scene calling himself mobs rival was soo good he save everyone because he knew that fighting mob wasn’t the main thing but protecting mob from killing people was. And there were so many more great moments like this to round out most characters in this great story. But we have to talk about tumblr sexy man Reigan and his speech and I don’t know how many people are said this but I just love how he was honest to mob and helped him accept himself to become more of a complete person and it just makes me have goosebumps from just listening to him admitting to his faults it just soooo god damn good.

I don’t have any good ending statements but I am just glad to experience this amazing show and I hope yall have similar experiences with this great series

I don't think there are spoilers in this but Spoiler Warning ig

Watching Secret Invasion, got me thinking about Agents of Shield and if it's really canon in the MCU or not. (I think it is) Because all of us are like literally clowning rn wanting to see Daisy or Coulson or literally anyone from AOS in the MCU like, actually in the MCU!

And I was thinking about it, since I know, show creators or Kevin mby said that it isn't cannon in the MCU, I don't remember really but it got me thinking: why wouldn't it be cannon? Because everything that happens is actually possible in the MCU (like time travel etc) and also it was really closely connected with the first few seasons (it was a spinoff from The Avengers c'mon). So like where in the show would it go away from being connected/canon in the MCU?!?! For me it only make sense maybe like around season 5 when Fitz died. Maybe, because that changed the entire thing in the show, like changed the future that they came from in 2049 was it, I don't remember I watched the show long ago so I don't remember everything really well.

If it is Fitz dying that would make it not canon, wouldn't the TVA then you know, do something about it?!

And we know from Loki that TVA does something when not canon stuff happens. So seasons 6 and 7 are what is suppossed to happen. Idk but I'm still clowning about seeing Daisy or Coulson or anyone actually in Secret Invasion because I want to see them again on my screen, like, I really wanna see them again and I know I can rewatch the show. Okay. I know, but it's a long show. So I'm not going to do it right now. I have exams.

So just like tell me your opinion, do you think it's possible to see Daisy or whoever in SI and in you opinion is AOS canon in the MCU or not? Idk

I think that the idea of the found family splitting up at the end is an idea that can work but there are some specific things that make it work.

First of all, the time frame has to be right. If the story that brought them together is too short, it doesn't work. If they came together, did one thing, and then split apart, then the idea that they became a family doesn't hold weight. So typically if the story is one movie or one book, splitting the family doesn't work. But if it's a series (tv show, multiple movies, multiple books) then you can have them together for quite a while. They didn't just come together for a task and then split up once they didn't need each other anymore. They were together for a while and chose to be around each other repeatedly.

Secondly, the splitting up has to be of the GROUP but not the FAMILY. It can be that they may never all live or work together again, but done right the idea becomes that they were a team/group first and that brought them together and they became a family but then the need for the group passed, but they remained a family. It's tricky to give a proper sense of this because typically the splitting up comes at the end of whatever story, and this focuses on the idea of what comes after. But when it's achieved it becomes a mimicking of certain family patterns-- you're raised together, you grow up as family, but then as you get older life leads you in different directions. People move to different houses (or cities or countries), people get married and form new connections, things arise that put that distance between you. But in a healthy family situation, that connection remains and you still are in each others lives.

Third, there has to be some sort of natural reason for the parting. It can't just be 'well we're done so I guess I'm going to go because there's no reason to stay'.

A couple examples:

(Spoilers for each within their section) Agents of Shield-- 1. Time frame- the team in some iteration or other has been around for 7 years (give or take) by the end. During that time they've lived together and repeatedly have chosen to come back together if they've been separated, and there hasn't been one specific thing they all need to accomplish that forces them together. Its all been choice. 2. Finality- Two things put this slightly into question with AOS. One there's a sort of prophecy spoken midway through the final season that the entire team will never be all in one place again after this mission. Two, the final get together scene indicates they don't do that often and their meet up only lasts a few minutes. However, the impression I get from the finale is that all of the team members are still in frequent contact even if the group is big enough and doing diverse enough things that its hard to get everyone in the same room very often. But they clearly still care about each other, they clearly still know the details of each others lives. They're still family. They've just spread out. (and as for the prophecy the specific inclusion of Deke who has to make the sacrifice of staying behind in another timeline means that there is the allowance of everyone BUT Deke getting together at various points in their future). 3. Purpose- Leaving the Shield team feels natural. Fitz and Simmons are retiring to raise their daughter. May is moving into a new position. Coulson needs to go find himself. And then we split Mack and Yoyo from Daisy and her new part of the family (Kora and Daniel) to form two new teams (like two siblings who get married and form their own households).

Guardians of the Galaxy-- 1. Time Frame- The Guardians actively live together in close quarters from 2014 to 2025/2026. That's 6 or 7 years for the majority of the team (minus 5 for the blip) and 11 or 12 for Nebula and Rocket. The adventures we see in the movies that bring them together are each of the span of maybe two weeks at the MOST. The rest of those years is just daily lives and daily adventures together. 2. Finality- Peter and Mantis leave in the most real way and neither of them expresses it necessarily as permanent. Even though it doesn't seem they intend to rejoin the Guardians down the road, they probably will eventually return to Knowhere. In the meantime, Nebula and Drax have left the team but Knowhere still likely will be the home base (or at least a frequent stop) for the new Guardians team, so Rocket and Groot will still see them regularly. And with the ease of travel for these characters, there's nothing to suggest that they won't talk frequently, and visit each other whenever they can. They aren't all Guardians anymore but that doesn't mean they aren't family still. 3. Purpose- All of the endings fit for the characters. Nebula and Drax have clear new roles on Knowhere, Peter has family responsibilities he has to face, Mantis has to go make her own choices. And, much like Shield, Rocket's formation of a new team mirrors a family member moving out and forming a new household of their own, raising their own kids.

Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom-- This one doesn't totally work for me. It only works in part. Specifically, Inej, Jesper, and Kaz feel like a found family by the end, the other three don't. Wylan's connection is mostly to Jesper so he feels more like an in-law. Nina feels close as a friend, but not fully as family. And Matthias is only connected through Nina. 1. Time frame- this is a big part of the reason why I've narrowed to only three. Inej, Jesper, and Kaz have the most history. At the start of the books they have been working together already for some time. So the specific two part adventure of the books doesn't force them together, it just strengthens the bond. The time frame itself is unclear, but it does seem to be multiple years. In contrast, Matthias and Wylan ONLY have the span of a few weeks with the team. (We could give Matthias a break on this because he dies so there isn't the option of sticking around longer, but I think the indication is that while he had some level of bond with the other characters, it was mostly just him and Nina who were close, and they intended to go off on their own at the end if he had survived). Wylan also seems to be the driving force behind Jesper leaving at the end. Nina is a little more complicated since (if I'm remembering the books correctly) she had some level of connection with the team before the start of Six of Crows. 2. Finality- Here we have a sequel to give us a glimpse via the King of Scars duology. Rule of Wolves shows very clearly that Kaz is still in contact with Jesper and Wylan (however, to me, this seems pretty clear that the relationship is between Kaz and Jesper, and that any contact Kaz has with Wylan is incidental.) Contact with Inej is harder (because she's sailing around being awesome, not living in a house across town) but the care and connection is still there. Nina by contrast, seems to have very little contact with any of the team at any point after the end of Crooked Kingdom (and with her, it's not a cameo appearance, she gets a third of those two books). Circumstances are at play since she's a spy and then living under an assumed identity, but even her mentions (both out loud and in her inner monologue) of the others are pretty limited and usually specific to skills she learned from them. Matthias is dead and that's pretty final. 3. Purpose- All of them have pretty good reasons for leaving, none of them just seem to drift away (apart from maybe Wylan).

Steve's ending in Avengers: Endgame. I loved that he stayed in the present with Sharon and him and Bucky and Nat and Sam are all besties. (Basically most of Endgame and everything post-Endgame is not real to me).

The ending of Gilmore Girls and the A Year in The Life reboot. It makes me so happy that Rory and Logan are happily together, Lorelai didn't wait years to finally marry Luke, Jackson never lied to Sookie about the vasectomy, and Dave Rygalski and Lane got married and toured the world as successful musicians.
