Agents of SHIELD Rewatch Season 1B (ep. 12-22)
Here's my commentary on my rewatch of Agents of SHIELD Season 1 Episodes 12-22. This may not be the best commentary since these are just the thoughts and opinions that come to my mind as I watch the episodes rather than a full-blown analysis, but I'm just having fun with it!
1x12 Seeds
I don't know about you guys, but I've always wanted to go to the SHIELD Academy since I first watched this episode. Personally, I think I'd be in communications just cause I'm not good at anything physical or science. Plus, it sounds kinda fun. And it's the easiest to get into so that's probably the only one I qualify for haha😅
I like how Weaver just completely skips over Skye in introducing herself.
The Wall of Valor scene is so funny to watch now after Season 7 because Daniel Sousa's name is on that wall and like 5-6 years later, he's Skye's husband boyfriend.
The fact that May knew what was going on the whole time with Coulson while she was trying to draw his attention away from it.
I love how May talking at all means that some things is up.
Also, this is probably the start of May really caring for Skye. Even though she was doing it to take Coulson's mind someplace else, she cared enough about Skye to do this for her.
For someone who's been off-grid for 23 years, Lumley's still got it.
Also, the fact that he knew exactly what they were there for. He saw them and knew immediately that it was about Daisy.
Hearing the story feels so different after season 2 since we know that Whitehall had originally raided the village followed by Cal and Jiaying killing everyone in search of Daisy.
I get that the protocol was created to protect Skye, but it's honestly sad that none of them thought of the emotional ramifications it would have on Skye. Even though she learns that's what happened, that doesn't change the abuse and feelings of loneliness she grew up with. Again, THE SHOW SHOULD HAVE EXPLORED HER PAST MORE.
Also sad that the scene with Agent Tad (played by Zachary Burr Abel aka Elizabeth's fiance) was cut.
I honestly kinda feel bad for Donnie. Seth used him for money then he was later brainwashed by Hydra and unfortunately, had to be killed.
Skye thought she did something wrong when Coulson wouldn't look at her (Again, not to be protective about Skye, but damn somebody give her a hug.)
"I can get there." "Yeah, I can't get there"
COULSON HOLDING SKYE'S HAND AS THEY ENTER THE STORM BEING SUCH A DADDDD!!
"Who do you become?" UGH THE FORESHADOWING TO 2x10 OMG.
1x13 T.R.A.C.K.S.
TIME FOR THE BEST EPISODE OF THE SEASON AND ONE OF THE BEST EPISODES OF THE WHOLE SERIES
May looks so good in this episode.
I also love Skye's outfit, but too bad it had to get ruined when she got SHOT.
"Wait, you told him?" "YEP" Oh, May I love you.
Does anyone else get kinda uncomfortable when Fitz speaks with an American accent? Like it's so unnatural to me. (Iain does an amazing accent. It's just weird to me that the accent is coming out of his mouth)
"PrOsTiTuTeS!"
"Prostitutes? Plural?"
I love the Jemma and Coulson duo. So happy it came back in 7x03 with almost the same energy.
WHY DID YOU HAVE TO HESITATE TO PUNCH HER WARD!? AND DON'T ACT LIKE YOU'VE GOT MORALS. YOU'RE FUCKING HYDRA.
"My men are dead" Cause May got the best of you idiot.
The ICONIC holo table scene. We love to see it.
I love how in a matter of seconds, we see just how much of a badass May is while also showing how big of a heart she has towards the people she cares about.
I. LOVE. MELINDA. MAY.❤️❤️
We really got some Philinda action in this episode.
Fitz's comment to Skye is basically the right idea, but executed horribly (he said it to ease her nerves but it only made her more scared of herself) which you can't blame him for since he doesn't know what exactly she's referring to just yet.
On my first watch, I KNEW something bad was going to happen when Skye said she wanted to go in alone.
But props to Skye cause before she's cornered in that basement, she actually handles herself really well.
Here's the second Skye/Daisy choke out of the series, and what do you know, it's in front of Quinn AGAIN.
As soon as Quinn raised the gun in Mike's hand, I knew Skye was going to get hurt when I first watched it.
Oh god, Skye crying out for help always gets me.
Coulson goes into Protective Dad Mode™ as soon as he sees the blood on Quinn's hand, and he already knows it's Skye's blood.
Coulson holding Skye on the ground and just repeating "hang on" gets me every time too.
I love how much the team has grown to care about Skye over the past 13 episodes. Even though they haven't known each other long, her being on the verge of death affects all of them, and none of them can imagine their lives without her.
Leave me alone to cry😭
1x14 T.A.H.I.T.I.
The whole beginning of this episode feels so intense and heartbreaking.
I love how May's the one to bring everyone back in and say that none of them were at fault.
WHEN THE DOCTOR COMES OUT AND YOU CAN SEE IT IN HER FACE THAT IT'S NOT GOOD AHHH.
"We're her family" YES YOU FUCKING ARE I'M GONNA GO CRY IN THE CORNER NOW😭
AND THE FULL MAMA BEAR MAY FINALLY MAKES HER APPEARANCE!
I will never not be sick of watching May beat the crap out of Ian Quinn. It's literally one of my favorite scenes ever.
We love Bill Paxton here.
Also, TRIP!! I LOVE AND MISS YOU TRIP.
I was low-key (but very much high-key now) rooting for Trip to win the little fight between him and Ward...
The whole giant file thing (echo chamber I think they call it) still makes no sense to me. Like how do you tell what is what and where you are in the files?
Honesly, if they went the Trip and Simmons route, I wouldn't have even been mad (even though I personally did ship him and Skye for a bit in s2.)
Ugh the whole Skye almost flatlining to the bunker collapsing to injecting Skye with the GH-325 is intense.
We love Protective Dad™ Coulson.
1x15 Yes Men
She's getting better😆
You did amazing Skye. Don't think so low of yourself.
Skye's got 'Welcome Wagon' catching on😉
LADY SIF!!!!!!
I love May's face when Sif explains how Lorelei's powers only work on men cause they have a weakness that women don't have.
I love that Sif already knows how to use the holo table. Coulson must be feeling do bad right now haha🤣
And the Night-Night Gun becomes the ICER.
When I first watched this, I didn't understand Coulson's reasoning, but now I am totally on his side. They didn't know what the drug was (well, he did but you know), but it was so protected that it must've been off SHIELD books for a reason.
Mulan moment with May and Sif's sword.
"He will not hesitate to kill you" I mean, in 1x19 he was pretty ready to kill her and he wasn't mind controlled then.
Yep. May's ready to murder Lorelei.
What's with Simmons and that fire extuingisher? It’s the second time this season.
May beating up Ward in this episode is very satisfying.
I don't know about y'all but I'm almost positive Ward pressed the trigger on the gun AFTER Sif put the necklace on Lorelei.
"I'm not saying you were weak. I'm saying ALL men are weak."
THE MAY REVEAL!!!!!
1x16 End of the Beginning
The start of the Winter Soldier tie in!
SKYE’S A SHIELD AGENT NOWWWWW
Ward looks like he’s not happy that she’s an agent now.
“I’m no clairvoyant” he says as he’s following the ‘clairvoyant’
THE LUMERIAN STARRRRR
Don’t wish Sitwell luck, Coulson. He’s Hydra and Bucky’s about to yank him out of a moving car and yeet him across the freeway.
How did Fitz and Simmons not think May was being suspicious. She’s good at hiding it things, but in that moment, she was acting so different and her tone was different as well.
“Are you scorpio?” Yes actually. Ming-Na Wen is indeed a scorpio.
“Don’t call me Vic. It’s condescending.”
I just now realized Garrett checking out Fitz’s golden retrievers. That probably when he decided he wanted to come to Hydra.
Garrett was probably down there making sure Thomas Bash was set up.
Coulson gonna protect his new daughter from harm.
Ward don’t act all heroic. You knew that guy wasn’t the clairvoyant. God I’m so happy the betrayal episode is next.
“DoN’t UsE mY nAmE jEmMa”
HE’S AN AGENT OF SHIELD
If I was Fitz and I was peeking into May’s line and she caught me, I’d shit my pants.
“I didn’t do anything”🙅‍♂️
Okay, but what was the point of the ICER? Like why was she gonna ice him?
I kinda believe that if Skye hadn’t came in when she did, Coulson may have actually figured Ward out.
And there’s the Victoria Hand fake out.
1x17 Turn, Turn, Turn
Okay but Garret just flying the plane and reading a book is a whole mood.
I was so scared that Trip was Hydra when I first watched this episode.
DID COULSON REALLY HAVE TO SHOOT MAY WITH THE REAL GUN!?
“Booyah!”💥
H Y D R A
Garrett, Coulson’s a whole lot smarter than you thought.
*cue Among Us music*
YOU’RE ONE TO TALK WARD JUST SHUT UP ALREADY
I completely understand Coulson’s anger, but May was completely under orders and I feel like he would’ve done the same thing if he had been ordered to.
I completely missed the part where 2 different teams stormed the Bus, so that means both a shield and a hydra team were coming for them.
“You haven’t even taught me to hold up under torture yet” “We’ll get to that. It’s fun”
YES TRIP!
Hand is kinda twisting the events of what actually happened.
How did those agents that were running towards the closet not see the door open? Like it’s not hard to miss.
SHUT YOUR MOUTH WARD
I did ship SkyeWard when I watched s1 for the first time. Now, I’m just counting down the days until Skye/Daisy’s lips will be touching Daniel’s instead of this murderer’s.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE GARRETT SLIP-UP SCENE!!
IAIN BRINGING TEARS TO THIS SCENE
MAY DOING THE BLACK WIDOW MOVE!!
So Victoria Hand and that strike team just waited until the fight was done to enter?
“How deep does it go?” YOU HAVE A MOLE ON YOUR TEAM COULSON
I do wish I didn’t get spoiled that Ward was Hydra the first time I watched it. That reaction would’ve been amazing.
1x18 Providence
It's been a few weeks since I last watched haha😅
RAINA'S BACK. I frickin love Raina.
And suddenly Ward is all evil and shit. It's been what? 12 hours at most?
"You're not clairvoyant?" Well, Raina, guess who is going to be in a season.
Was I the only one who was annoyed by Fitz kinda getting on Jemma and Trip? He claims they're ganging up on him, but they're right. Plus, he's the one who told Trip to turn it on only to scream at him and get mad. I'm probably reading too much into this cause my likings of Fitz have gone down significantly since I first watched, but I digress.
YAY TRIP IS ON THE TEAM NOW
I don't really like the side plot of Fitz being jealous of Trip and acting like he's the bad guy.
"We have internet" "Yayyy"
Just drop him already, Skye. He's not worth it.
No surprise to anyone but Grant Ward is an asshole.
I get he still likes her, but if he knew someone on the team was going to get hurt eventually, why the hell is Ward so mad about it? I guess I just hate that he still cares about her because it's so DISGUSTING!!🤮
Jesus Juice™
Poor Skye. She was only SHIELD for a day.
To be honest, I understand the team's reserves about the situation.
SHUT UP WARD
You're no one's type, Ward.
Him repeating what he said at the beginning of the season is so awkward idk why😂
SCREW GARRETT AND SCREW WARD
She is concerned, Phil. I hate this whole Coulson and May conflict.
ngl May could definitely take Coulson on if she were to take his 'weapon'
These agents are so stupid. No Hand, no opening the door. Seriously? It's not that hard. If they were told to only open the doors with Hand, then that's what they have to do ESPECIALLY right now.
Skye has the cutest snow outfit with her little purple beanie💜
See, this part I can admit that I understand where Fitz is coming from. I, too, struggle so much with change. My mind is constantly thinking about ways things would be if certain things didn't change, and my mind kind of just feeds off of that.
Coulson's "agents of nothing" speech still hits hard.
Again, SKYE IS SO SMART AND CLEVER!
KOENIG!!!!!!!!
We love the lanyards.
Funny how when he mentions 'brother' none of us knew he had 3 more brothers that look exactly like him (and a sister).
"Pull the plane in" SO THEY HAVE TO WALK ALL THE WAY BACK?!
"At least the machine gun didn't start shooting at you." I WISH IT DID.
I too regret that Garrett didn't rip Quinn's tongue out.
And that's the last time we will ever see gravitonium until season 5!
1x19 Only Light in the Darkness
We finally get the story of the cellist.
Okay, but what happened to all the other criminals locked up in the Fridge? Are they still on the run?
Why does almost every bad guy have to listen to classical music?
Skye sounded so scared when she said Ian Quinn🥺
Was Koenig not informed Coulson had a whole team? He seems so mad that there are other people besides Coulson.
During this whole scene we learn that May was once married, Trip is the grandson of a Howling Commando, and Skye's name from the orphanage was Mary Sue Poots.
I’ve never watched anything Doctor Who related and know very little about it, but Jemma being a Doctor Who fangirl is adorable.
Why is this the only time Ward's sister is mentioned? Like, was she just never around?
Koenig should've shot Ward right then and there. If there were spikes, that's a major red flag. I'm sure the team would understand if he had said, "he was lying. He's Hydra."
Again, Fitz hating on Trip is pretty annoying.
And that's why you don't go jogging at night.
We love Skye hacking into government agencies.
And Simmons is still a terrible liar.
"It was like he came out of a movie." Haha.... ha
They were planning a trip to Tahiti🥺😩
"I wake up like he's watching over me." Haha... ha… HA
What made Ward think he could take out Melinda May?
Bye, Eric. It was nice knowing you.
I feel like Skye was truly sad when May left. Probably felt abandoned like when she was in foster care and masked it by being angry/annoyed.
AHH, THIS SCENE! The cello in the background with Skye finding out Ward is Hydra is phenomenal!
Chloe does such an amazing performance in this scene!
UGh Ward's obsession with Skye is WEIRD and CREEPY and I DON'T LIKE IT!
DON'T TOUCH HER LIKE THAT WARD!!
Lian May has canonically met Maria Hill, and I love that.
1x20 Nothing Personal
MARIA HILLLLL
I love that Coulson finally came around on the May situation.
And that's when Coulson goes into Full Dad Mode™.
Skye is really doing such a better job at staying undercover and staying relaxed than Ward.
Hello General Talbot. Can't wait for the love/hate relationship we're gonna have for the next four seasons.
We love Melinda May going grave robbing.
WE LOVE SKYE
Skye would have actually succeeded if Mike didn't come into play. She did so well.
Skye beating Ward for the small moment is my favorite thing in the whole episode.
Ward sympathizers always ignore this scene. WARD IS A BIG FAT FRICKIN NAZI.
"Sacrifices" BOY you haven't sacrificed anything for yourself. You sacrifice other people and things that are special to those people. Don't act like you've given up so much.
No one talks about the mental manipulation Skye went through in this episode, and we really need to.
YES COULSON GO GET YOUR DAUGHTER
I'd only want to go sky diving if it was done in Lola
Coulson giving Skye a candy bar from the vending machine always makes me soft.
"hUH"
1x21 Ragtag
The flashback parts of this episode enrages me for some reason. Like, are you trying to make me sympathize with a nazi? Cause it's not working.
You all will be in Bogota in about two years to pick up someone very special😉
I love fanboy Coulson.
May and Coulson pretending to be Fitzsimmons is one of my favorite things.
"May looks barely a day over... THIRTY! YOU'RE GORGEOUS!"
Sleepy Sleep Gun™
You never want to be stuck in an elevator with Melinda May. Or you absolutely do. Depends on the situation.
"DoEs YoUr SwEaTeR iTcH?"
Season 1 is a fun one to rewatch after having had watched the whole series because they set so much stuff up for season 2 in this season.
"Skye, Trip, get ready for a large file transfer." "How large?" Y E E T
^ Still one of my favorite scenes ever.
Again, this episode is not getting me to feel bad for Ward.
I hate how Fitz just ignores Skye's experience with Ward. He wants to prove that Ward isn't evil when Skye experienced firsthand what kind of person Ward is. It’s like her experience doesn’t matter to him. It literally takes until Ward has affected him personally does he see it.
Again, no one talks about the mental manipulation done to Skye in the last episode.
AND HERE WE HAVE THE TRUE BEGINNINGS OF MAMA MAY AND DAISY!
"We'Re GoInG tO cUbA😃"
"Garrett's dying!" GOOD
I do understand that Garrett manipulated Ward, but STILL. I feel like Ward could've redeemed himself before the finale but everything he's done after the turn is absolutely terrible (not excusing every terrible thing he did as hydra before the show btw). Once he reached the point of no return, it's honestly hard to even sympathize with him. Ward deserves nothing.
ANOTHER THING! People say Ward gave Fitzsimmons the best possible option for survival. HOW DOES THAT NEGATE THE FACT THAT HE THREW THEM OUT OF THE PLANE AND INTO THE OCEAN. And don't even get me started on people saying "it was supposed to float." Yeah, the containment pod can, which wasn't invented until SEASON 3!!! I'm pretty sure what they're in is the medical pod that Skye was in after she was shot. I'm almost positive that it doesn't have a floating feature (unless I missed a line completely, but I don’t think I did. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong).
1x22 Beginning of the End
OMG, IT'S NORM FROM WANDAVISION!!!!
That guy's first mistake was approaching May and immediately calling her the Cavalry.
Okay, but did Garrett immediately start writing, but Coulson needed to see the writing first?
^Nevermind. I answered my own question. Tahiti. The false memories. That's it.
Fitz breaking his arm in the same exact places he did when he was a kid reminds me of how my younger brother has been stung by a bee twice on the same pinky finger.
What's with this season and using the "Bob's your uncle" line?
"What will I become?" AHHHHHHHH
Hey! Jemma! I was miserable and upside down before I was born too!!
Oh, Trip I miss you.
"GoOd BoY"
And also I love Skye. I don't know if I've mentioned it.
"i LoVe YoU tOo"
I don't mind Fitz telling Jemma about his feelings. (Yes, I have issues with the situation he told her in, but in a generalized sense, I don't mind) What I do mind is how he acted after the fact in season 2 just because Simmons didn't reciprocate the feelings. She obviously still loves him, he’s her best friend.
FURYYYYYYYYYYY
YESSSS MAYYY! I FUCKING LOVE YOU SO MUCH! IVE BEEN WANTING TO DO THAT TO WARD ALL SEASON!!!!!
"Hi John" *punch* "Hi Phil" *punch*
"I KNOW WHAT IT DOES"
"You were never on top" I LOVE THAT LINEEEE
"What are we?" WE'RE A TEAM😭
Coulson's an Avenger!!!! Fury said so!
HELLO BILLY KOENIG
And there's Cal!
Ugh I forgot how good this finale is.

What’s ur favorite AoS seasons from best to worst?
Hi Anon,
The weird thing is for me its not about the Season’s its more about the arcs within each season.  Because each season seems to have a arc I liked better, then there are individual episodes that stand out.   IE In season 2 loved the short lived Real Shield arc and not a huge fan of the Inhuman arc that took over.
Right now:
6A The Search for Fitz, Inescapable is going to be so hard to beat...and looking forward to see if what is coming can do that.  I think the We Had Time Fitzsimmons arc, especially if my theories hit will do it.
4B LMD  Dadcliffe was just SO CLOSE and then to end it on Self Control....fantastic.
7A Time Travel fun times
4A Ghost Rider  Gabe really made this arc, he was such an amazing Ghost Rider.
5A Future Arc with major props to Rewind and Fun & Games
3A Mystery of Maveth  Closure and Maveth I always have to watch together and they were where my OG huge theory hit.
1B Hydra’s Rise
6B Sarge/Izel
4C  I have a love/hate relationship with this arc because they went so dark.  Had they not gone just so rip our hearts out awful I think this would personally higher.   And The Return Remains one of my favorite episodes.
5B Ruby just really downed this arc (they didn’t need her Hale could have wanted the Machine for herself and saved a crap ton of real estate) as did the team fight, choices they made for characters, double standards, and again just how brutal the team fight got was ugh.  Which is sad because the 100TH was SO GOOD and is one of my favorite episodes.  As was The Honeymoon and All Roads Lead.
3B Hive’s completely left turn into crazy plan land.  Though again home to two of my top eps with The Team and Singularity.  Losing Bobbi/Hunter, the nonsense of Hive’s plan and filler eps, every Inhuman has a purpose, and the reason behind a lot of the sacrifices, just ugh.
1A Like there are stand out favorite eps here like FZZT but it was just as they were finding their footing but at the same time they were biding time until they could tie into winter soldier.  I would have like to see what they could have done had they not had to do that.
Season 2  This is when I had stopped watching live and it would go onto the DVR for when I had time.   So many filler episodes.   Out of Character actions.  Things not explored properly (Fitzsimmons), and then throwing away the really cool Real Shield arc for the Inhuman arc was sad. I also think that Ward should have gotten a bigger go as the Hydra big bad.  The Finale was stunning and was actually the one episode I did watch live and it led me here.
I know everyone has their own list this is mine.

Parting Shot
With this tag game, I want to know the answers to these five (5) questions and then tag 5 or more mutuals. Wasn’t tagged but want to join? Join in ! Everyone is an essential part of this fandom! Name from @ agent.of.shield_ on Instagram ( @agents-of-fangirling ) who had a great idea to post a picture of yourself with a drink (or just a drink) and tag it #partingshot as a finale goodbye to the show (which I also am going to post tomorrow on IG).
I was tagged by @que-mint-tea and @maos2013 !!!
Where were you in life when you first started to watching AoS?
it hasn’t been too long since i started watching, i believe i started around december 2018, maybe more late november? only reason i remember the exact time is because i was on my way to a certain comic con when i was watching the first season
right there, i think life was okay, or well normal by my standards, i’ve never really had the best of dealt cards but i believe i was managing then, like now! though details are quite fuzzy, i really don’t have the best memory unfortunately
Where are you now?
i believe i have grown a lot, even if it’s only been a year and a half or so, a bit more.
i have developed as a person, i have learned a lot about myself, and i have gained two amazing partners which i love and care very much about!
i believe i have become better, gotta admit i am disgusted with my past self, i was taught by my parental figures (mum’s fiance mainly) to be more right winged politically, but i grew to realise it was the wrong side of things and i am proud of myself now for growing and realising what i was taught to believe was wrong, even if i took a few years to break out of the mindset 100%
i have learned in the last few months that i have a dissociative disorder, probably osdd-1b, it explains a lot of things that have happened in the past, i still have a lot of unanswered questions about it and myself, stuff that i don’t know if i’ll ever get the answer for. sometimes that makes me feel invalid, but it’s a shared experience and i need to make my peace with that.
i gained two amazing partners three months ago. though, yes, three months is a short time, i couldn’t ask for better partners honestly, we get on well, barely disagree, it just feels right with them and they couldn’t be more accepting
What character development arc (or storyline in general) did you love the most?
oooo this is a hard one, there are many arcs that i have loved,
i gotta say, i love how the bus kids have developed, from what i like to call “sweet summer children” to “salty winter adults”
i love all the developments honestly
What will you miss the most?
oh i’m not gonna lie, i’m going to miss everything, this show has been a big part of me for so long,
i can’t even put this answer into proper words, i’m just going to miss the cast, characters, the story lines, everything!
Favorite quote?
there’s probably many quotes i love from this show, i can’t say them all, but for some reason, one that stuck with me is:
“the world is full of evil and violence and pain and death, and you can’t hide from it, you can only face it. the question is, when you do, how do you respond?”
- coulson
(yes i know i’m edgy but it has always struck deep w me)
i tag @dracofelin, @cryptidvcorvid, @agentclare, @softkittiess and @agentofmarvel084 if you want to!
(i was meant to upload this yesterday but i forgot to take it out of my drafts lmao)

My rewatch AoS 1x11 to 1X15
I am very late for the rewatch so I thought I’d keep doing my rewatch review in blocks of five episodes (or whatever seems relevant). So here we go. With TAHITI, we're starting to get a glimpse of what the rest show is going to be since from that moment on. Except for Yes Men (who still gives an important moment information about May at the end) who really should have been in the first part of the season, every episode will be connected in a more or less big way to the main plot of the season. Like Yes Men who's completely independent or Seeds whose main plot doesn't seem linked until the end when we learn that Iain Quinn was linked to it, this first part of 1B makes the transition between the happy Bus days and the darker tone of the last seven episodes that will continue on in season two. So here's a few thoughts about separate episode: The Magical Place I absolutely love that first scene with the team working together perfectly, each using their own talent, it was perfect. Still love it when people call Fitz "sir" in season one, it's just so funny since he's so tiny 😄 May is really smart in that episode. Everyone did exactly as she had planned without even having to tell them (because she knew FitzSimmons and Ward would help Skye escape) and thus also remaining in Hand's good graces. Agent Skye mini May is adorable! But she really is as smart and ressourceful as May, she just needs to be trained in combat and badassness now! I know it's a very unpopular opinion but Raina annoys the crap out of me with her too sweet smiles and exaggeratedly sexy voice. I mean she's obviously really at getting in men's heads, including Coulson but I just find her… annoying. She gets more interesting after she turns, too bad she didn't last longer after that. Love the Coulson rescue mission, again that was some very good team work. And love the reunion scene, although I know at least Skye wanted a group hug. Love May's side smile and "Nice Jacket". "Bet there's no flower dresses where she's going!" "Amen to that, sister." Love that :D "Disengage bracelet" Coulson's dorkiness really is one of his most endearing traits. Seeds First of all, a big thank you for giving us enough FitzSimmons content for hundreds of FitzSimmons Academy Era fics. Love that FitzSimmons scene where they present each other's work mirroring the scene in the Pilot when they introduce each other, it's adorable. Also love the way their speech is so well rehearsed, it's perfectly flawing between them and I bet even that joke Fitz does was written on paper. "Potential can sometimes be dangerous…" Oh Fitz, you're going to remember that one quite bitterly in a few years. FitzSimmons are so proud of their Academy and being such stars there. I love their competition with Ward and Simmons' "Did you have one of these in ops? Did not think so." Yep, cannot imagine Ops having something so fun! SciTech would have definitely been more my kind of place (except for the fact that I didn't study science at all :p) "My room was just like that." We know it's a lie but it's cute, it's Fitz's slightly awkward way of trying to connect. We know he has trouble making first contact and it looks like he's also kind of thrilled of being someone's hero or even a father figure of sorts. Coulson saying "You're talking, it's weird" is the best. That's some pretty dangerous info we're getting on Skye. They really took their time giving us bits of information all through the first season to focus on it in season two. Love the little robot on the bar at the boiler room, never noticed that before, need to include it in a future fic, it's adorable! Too bad Donnie ended up as he did, he really wasn't a bad person and deserved a redemption arc. Again, May is such a freaking badass. And all this without a single superpower! T.R.A.C.K.S Although there will be some criticizing, keep in mind that this episode still remains one of my favorite episodes of the season and the show as a whole. Love the plot, the humor, the action, the different POVs and that's also some top notch drama at the end. So, first of all, the accents. Even I, a person who only some distant italian relatives, can tell that Ward's one is awful. But at least, he's not supposed to be Italian so that's understandable. But that conductor sounds like a mix between Mario and Jen speaking pretend Italian in IT Crowd (hilarious episode by the way, you should look it up if you haven't :D) Then, that train. You should read @valentinaonthemoon‘s post here about it if you haven't because she points out all that is wrong with the train and its route. But seriously, it's so weird. It's all too big and pretty. I have never seen a restaurant carriage with actual cute little wooden tables and chairs and actual room to walk between the table. And what the hell about the actual bed? I've taken a night train to Venice once, even first class wasn't close to looking like that! Anyway, now moving on to all the good parts. May is the definition of badass in this episode. First casually walking on a moving train and then taking of all the bad guys with the knife they stabbed her in the shoulder with. And I also love the little Philinda moment where she lets him help her but didn't let Ward. Love Fitz summing up every cliche Europeans have about Americans "They have some good shows. Lots of nice teeth." and "Someplace affordable with big portions." His pretend relationship and real friendship with Skye is very very sweet in this. I love all the teasing but also the way he insists she takes the gun and tells her to be careful. Jemma is, once again, very heroic in this. Once more, she takes the conscious decision to sacrifice herself for his friends and Fitz in particular. Of course, that grenade wouldn't have killed them but she didn't know that. So really, during the pod scene, when Fitz is faced with the reality that only one can hope to make it to the surface, his decision is easy. And I think it's not only because he loves her and couldn't bear to live without her anyway, but also because she did twice already and he thinks that's it's his turn now. He's just less lucky about the consequences it has on him. (And ironically, Ward provoked it instead of being here to save the day… but I digress). I love Fitz's reaction after Jemma falls. He doesn't run to her because he's stunned and frozen at the idea that she might be dead. His sigh of relief when Skye tells him she's alive is everything. And also the line about her little face is adorable, especially since I only learned recently that it was ad libed by Iain! I didn't remember how heartbreaking Skye was when she tries to call for help and has no voice left at all. For a moment, she must have thought she was going to die all alone in that scary dark room. I mean, I never was really worried because they weren't going to kill her off but still, that's gut wrenching :s But Jemma for the win though! She's not even a medical doctor and so many people are alive thanks to her! And well, of course, THAT HUG! I mean all of FitzSimmons hugs are wonderful but this one is just… I love how it parallels the one from 4x21 where they don't talk and he just has to reach for her shoulder for her to finally let go and cry in his arms. At first, she doesn't fully hug him because she's afraid of putting blood on him (which is very Jemma-like of her) but then she lets go and he doesn't need to say a thing because it's his presence that comforts her the most. Also, FZZT was the moment he realized his feelings had changed for the first time but this feels important too. This is the first of many hugs and the moment their relationship becomes more physical (not in the sexual sense of the word, just physical). As much as I like to imagine they spent their Academy days falling asleep in the same bed every week, I feel like until now, their friendship was very intellectual with only quick very tame physical displays of affection like the touch of a hand or shoulder. Even that kiss on the cheek seemed something wild in the way he reacted and she hesitated before doing it. After that, we'll see more hugs and more daring touches, culminating into the pod scene. (and then regressing and slowly progressing again in season two B and and three) Because being on the field had taught them how hard things could be and they're like each other comfort blanket for a time, thus the need to be physically closer. T.A.H.I.T.I I love how FitzSimmons are sitting so close together on that couch. I think they both need the comfort of each other's presence because they are the only constant in their ever changing world. They really should have let Ward blame himself here. The way May beat the crap out of Iain Quinn was very satisfying. Love Coulson's progression about Tahiti. "Turned out not so magical" and in the next episode it'll be "It sucked". Well, at least he got to see the real, beautiful Tahiti 😞 Awww Trip. I didn't like him all that much the first time. I mean I found him okay and all but only on the second rewatch that I grew to like him. Other than the fact that he could actually get "Witches weekly's most charming award", he really is just a genuine nice, easy going, good guy. Too bad it made him the perfect candidate for shock value death 😞 Love, love, love that scene with FitzSimmons looking through the files. It's stunning and blue light definitely suits Fitz. I also love him during the mission. We know he's kind of scared and he still doesn't like being on the field but he's brave and funny and adorable. "Not afraid, not yet…" "To certain horrible death? Absolutely" Classical sassy Fitz! One thing that had always bothered me during this mission: Couldn't they use non lethal weaponry to "attack" the base. I mean they're protecting a shady secret but they're still (mostly) agents of SHIELD. And they'd been left to die and be buried under all that rock. I get that Coulson wanted the truth and to save Skye but still … I absolutely love the way they decided to handle the Kree reveal. Make Coulson look terrified and let us imagine all the most horrible things and then only in the end the horrible mutilated corpse. Feels a lot like what Hydra did to Skye's mother by the way and very, very evil :s Yes Men I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would despite it not being the strongest episode and it has a lot to do with Sif being a badass. So, first of all, with all the super advanced technology they have, would an Asgardian really be impressed by a bike?!! Skye saying: "I must look awful". Honestly, makeup department guys? They did a really good job when she was close to death but now she doesn't even look a little pale. She doesn't a little circle under eyes and doesn't even look tired at all. And look at her hair! That's not the hair of someone who had been forbidden to leave her bed for days! Fury is already missing, it's getting serious! Sif is so freaking badass and really aces the super hero landing! Also, she's so extra, like she casually throws a car to provide cover. I love her connection with May and I would totally watch a spin off of them kicking ass together. I like the phrase about people being dangerous when they are controlled and how it's another hint at May's backstory. Okay, so I love Sif throwing a car during the fight scene and I love Coulson calling Sif "your ladyship" but seriously, didn't SHIELD have enough women fighters? Honestly! Jemma is totally right about being mad at Coulson about wanting to know more about GH325. Coulson has a good reason for keeping it in house but he should just tell them for god's sake! At this point, we can see that he's still struggling between the whole following the rules and doing things his way because he no longer trusts SHIELD completely. "Ward is not the man you knew. He will not hesitate to kill you." "He might try but he wont." Yep, yep, yep, you don't know how right you were, May! "Because yes, I am that good!" Fitz was cocky and cute there but really not that wasn't a smart move telling Coulson about Lorelei without knowing if he'd been swayed as well. Libido does take a bit of his genius away :p "He's always getting knocked out, isn't he?" Mmmhhh … okay but how freakishly strong is Coulson if he can knock him out with only one punch? "You were saying?" Honestly, they should have copied that collar to use for all the villains and their long boring speeches. And finally dun, dun, dun! They really did a good job making us paranoid and making us think May could be the villain.

After the Devil Complex, I’ve seen a few posts going around saying that Fitz has dissociative identity disorder (DID), and even more people saying he has a ~split-personality~. (This is an incorrect & outdated term please don’t use it!) As someone with a similar dissociative disorder, I have a lot of thoughts about that, so I decided to write them up.
The first thing I want to say is: Based on the evidence we currently have in canon, it isn’t possible for Fitz to have DID. I’ll expand on this a little (below a cut because it got a little long^^;)
DID is a traumagenic dissociative disorder that develops when a child with a predisposition towards dissociation is put through intense, repetitive trauma before their personality is fully formed. After time, the trauma causes the child to develop different dissociative states. It’s a complex coping mechanism that develops to help survive extreme situations, and can only develop during childhood.
(That’s a brief rundown of it, and I’ve left a lot of information out, but I hope it’s still understandable!)
Obviously, Fitz is a survivor of childhood abuse by his father, and that isn’t something that I intend to ignore or underplay. However, the abuse that Fitz’s father was responsible for isn’t the type that would cause DID to form, based on what we currently know of it. (This isn’t to say that it hasn’t negatively impacted on Fitz, because it absolutely has. It just wouldn’t cause DID.)
Without having experienced the type of childhood trauma necessary to cause a dissociative split, there’s no way that Fitz could’ve developed DID.
But, he obviously does have significant mental health issues, so I’m going to explore alternative explanations.
First of all, Fitz has brain damage. I’ll admit that I don’t know as much about brain damage as I would like to. However, one thing that’s relevant here is that, while rare, brain injuries can cause psychosis, and psychosis is far more likely to be what Fitz is experiencing than dissociation.
We already know that Fitz experienced hallucinations (one main symptom of psychosis) after his injury, in the form of Simmons, during season 2, Fitz himself says in Rewind that he thinks he’s developing schizophrenia, and Simmons compares ‘the doctor’ to Fitz’s hallucination of her.
Seeing ‘the doctor’ as a reoccurring, malicious hallucination rather than a dissociative state makes a lot more sense in the context of what we’ve been shown, both in terms of Fitz’s childhood, and in terms of how his symptoms present & his reaction to them.
Fitz is pretty quick to accept what he did during his episode as having been him, but if it had been a dissociative episode he likely would have denied it having been him, even after finding out that it was his body, because dissociative barriers would have prevented him from fully connecting to the memory of what happened.
If he had DID, we also likely would have seen more evidence of switches rather than just the one episode. While DID is a disorder that works incognito & can be difficult for outsiders to recognise, AOS is a TV show so would’ve been able to make switches at least a little more apparent to the audience.
If he had DID, he likely also wouldn’t insist that the doctor is him. A person with DID (especially the alter functioning as host) generally does not see their alters as being them. They may relate to some pieces of their alters identities/personality/etc, but that’s about as far as it would go. Fitz, on the other hand, insists that he is the doctor & the doctor is him.
Regardless of what disorder Fitz has, though, I really hope the writers treat it respectfully next season. I’d love to see a realistic & respectful portrayal of mental health, especially a disorder typically considered ‘scary’ by the media like schizophrenia.
TL;DR: Fitz doesn’t have DID, he’s schizophrenic. ‘The doctor’ is a hallucination, not an alter.
(As a disclaimer: I am just one alter with OSDD-1b. The information in this post is based on my own lived experience, the experiences of my friends, my own research & information my therapist has given to me, however, I am not a professional myself, so there is a chance that some of the information I have given may be incorrect- if you notice any misinfo please let me know in some way & I will edit this post to reflect that! Thank you!)
(Also if you have any questions or counter-arguments, feel free to reply/reblog/send me an ask. I’d be more than happy to talk about this further!)

Allow me to offer some three years late Coulson and May relationship meta at this random time.
Even watching season 3 the first time, specifically in 3x7 and 3x9, I thought the moments they were so careful to give each other space were some of the best friendship moments they’d had since 2a.
I’ve gathered over time this is not a common opinion. Which is fine of course. In the grand scheme of things those scenes were quite small. But a lot of meta I’ve seen about these characters and season 3 I think overlooks some of the less-common personality traits of these characters - ergo rambling meta about people with issues respecting each other’s boundaries.
In 3x7 they find out Andrew’s mostly already gone. May leaves to be alone. Coulson watches her go with a mournful expression and doesn’t make a move to comfort her. I think a lot of people interpret this as Coulson being callous or as some clear sign of what a rough place their friendship is in, but to me it read as a clear ‘friends who’ve known each other forever’ moment, even though things were rough between them. What he said was, “She wouldn’t want me to. Not right now.”
Personally, I cannot stand to be touched when I’m crying. I do not want to be talked to, held, whatever. Not even by family. No tragic story here, I just don’t like it. I’m not built that way. The last thing I want to do when I’m that upset is deal with somebody else, but refusing sincerely offered sympathy is often considered rude, so you just can’t always get away with it.
May’s had serious issues with touch since Bahrain. She’s naturally quiet, hates unnecessary talking, and values her privacy. May’s the only character besides Daisy where we’ve met both her parents. While she’s shown implicit trust in them both, they’re distant and she worries about her own similarities to her mother given their sometimes strained relationship. May has also been shown over and over to have a hard time feeling loved when she doesn’t feel needed. We’ve seen that with Coulson, Daisy, and Andrew.
The right move for most people here would be something like you shouldn’t be alone right now, etc. But that wouldn’t be the right move for May. Coulson would have just been another stressor while she was feeling that raw and he knew that.
In 3x9 Rosalind gets assassinated. Coulson’s covered in both her blood and his and barely keeping a lid on it. May stops Daisy from going to comfort him and doesn’t make a move to do it herself. This mirrors what happened in 3x7 in basically every way.
Coulson makes every effort most of the time to appear harmless, just another suit. It’s basically his spy wheelhouse. Around people he likes a lot he can be a rambling geek. But that’s not all of who he is. The other side of his personality is manipulative, freakishly observant, and ruthless. He’s highly empathetic, but it comes with an on/off switch and tends to get used strategically first. He’d just killed at least 5 Hydra operatives to get out of Rosalind’s townhouse. The glimpse we get of him minus that empathy later on in 4x15 Self Control was chilling. He tries to keep a lid on the harsher side of his personality most of the time (Clark’s said as much) and we see him fail in season 3. That downward spiral had been coming on since 3x1.
May knows damn well he’s going to go lose it. When he starts kicking the hell out of his office she looks far more resigned than surprised.
To me both of these scenes basically screamed ‘we’ve been out of touch and have some serious crap to work through but I’ve still known you forever and how you’re going to react even when other people won’t get it’, especially with the contrast of the outside perspective of a character like Mack, who knows them both but not anywhere near as well and frequently finds their reactions confusing.
They might have different thought processes, skillsets, and personal hangups but both Coulson and May place very high value on their own self control. They confide in each other, but when they can’t maintain that control they give each other space.
In context of the rest of the show, these scenes showed familiarity more than anything else. Maybe there wasn’t a lot of warmth in them, but there’s definitely no reason to presume actual hostility or spite. It doesn’t have to be ‘a sign of how bad things are between them’ because they didn’t cry on each others shoulders.
Coulson and May’s individual relationship wasn’t a main focus throughout season 3 like it was in 1b, 2a, season 4, or 5b. AOS is an ensemble show first and foremost and it was other character’s turns at the forefront, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t have a little character arc take place in the background. Repairing the friendship and trust between them was important, had to take place for them to move forward professionally and personally, and these scenes and the scenes in 3x10 really set the groundwork for that to happen.

30 ROY candidates for 2019 -- 1 for each team
On Monday, Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuna Jr. were named Rookie of the Year in the American and National Leagues, respectively. But they were far from the only first-year players to make an impact in the big leagues in 2018.
It would be difficult to find a team in the history of the modern game who went through an entire season without needing to use its farm system. Sometimes, jobs are given to rookies on Opening Day, as was the case with Ohtani and the Angels. Other times, a player has to wait to be called up to make an impact, just like Acuna did with the Braves.
In 2018, both prospects entered the season as Rookie of the Year contenders, if not front-runners, in each league. But sometimes Rookies of the Year come on unexpectedly. With that in mind, here is a potential ROY candidate from each organization.
AL East
Blue Jays: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 3B There's a strong case to made that Guerrero, MLB Pipeline's No. 1 overall prospect, should have reached the Majors last season, even with the Blue Jays' struggles. But he didn't and ultimately finished with an absurd .381/.437/.636 line and 20 home runs while reaching Triple-A at age 19. His bat is 100 percent ready for the highest level, and once there, Guerrero is a candidate to run away with top rookie honors in the AL, regardless of when he arrives.
Video: EAST@WEST: Guerrero Jr. doubles, advances on error
Orioles: Yusniel Diaz, OF The Orioles' key acquisition in the deadline deal that sent Manny Machado to Hollywood, Diaz is yet to tap into his above-average raw power but has a good idea of what he's doing at the plate, as evidenced by his .285/.392/.449 slash line and 11-homer last season in Double-A. Some other internal options may get first crack in either right or left field as the Orioles rebuild, but Diaz should become an everyday guy for them before long.
Rays: Brandon Lowe, 2B Lowe struggled initially upon reaching the Majors, going 0-for-19 following his debut on Aug. 5. After that, however, he slashed .273/.357/.527 with six homers in 37 games to finish the year with a career-high 28 home runs between Double-A, Triple-A and MLB. He also finished with 129 at-bats, leaving him two ABs short of exhausting his rookie eligibility. Like so many young Rays players, Lowe has the defensive versatility that could make him a near regular for Tampa Bay in 2019.
Red Sox: Michael Chavis, 3B The defending World Series champions have a depleted farm system and few opportunities at the big league level. One of the better power-hitting prospects in the upper Minors, Chavis could contribute if Rafael Devers struggles again or the need for a right-handed-hitting first baseman arises.
Yankees: Justus Sheffield, LHP The Yankees' greatest need is starting pitching, and Sheffield should crack the Opening Day rotation. His fastball, slider and changeup all can be three plus pitches, so it won't be a shock if he's New York's second-best starter after Luis Severino.
Video: Mayo gives some 2019 AL Rookie of the Year contenders
AL Central
Indians: Yu Chang, SS Though he continues to face an uphill battle towards carving out a spot in Cleveland's infield, Chang, a member of the Tribe's 40-man roster, saw increased reps at third base during the regular season and regular time there in the Arizona Fall League, suggesting the hot corner could be his path of least resistance. He has the hitting ability and raw power to profile there, as well as the defensive versatility to handle a utility role.
Royals: Nicky Lopez, SS/2B Lopez is blocked at the moment by Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi, but he's also sound in all phases of the game and has nothing left to prove in Triple-A. He should open the season in nothing less than a utility role and should claim at least semi-regular at-bats.
Tigers: Christin Stewart, OF He's hit at least 25 homers in each of his three full seasons of pro ball and hit a pair of homers in 60 big league at-bats this past September. Stewart has improved his overall approach, drawing a lot more walks, while still hitting balls out of the park, something that should continue with a full-time gig in Detroit next season.
Twins: Stephen Gonsalves, RHP The left-hander didn't fare well during his first taste of the big leagues in 2018, but he had a fantastic year, mostly in Triple-A, finishing second in the system in ERA and fifth in strikeouts, while keeping hitters to a combined .184 BAA. Gonsalves' upside might be limited, but he's ready to be a mid-rotation starter.
White Sox: Eloy Jimenez, OF If anyone can challenge Blue Jays third baseman Vladimir Guerrero for the title of best offensive prospect in baseball, it's Jimenez. Ready last summer but kept in the Minors for service-time considerations, he'll be the foundation the White Sox build their lineup around.
Watch: Jimenez crushes 12th homer for Charlotte
AL West
Athletics: Jesus Luzardo, LHP Luzardo nearly reached the Majors in 2018 in what was his first full pro campaign as well as his first fully healthy, unimpeded season since his Tommy John surgery in mid-2016. Altogether, the left-hander (in his age-20 season) compiled a 2.88 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 129 strikeouts and 30 walks in 109 1/3 innings while ascending from Class A Advanced to Triple-A. The A's will be without many of the starting pitchers that were lost due to injuries last season, so expect Luzardo to receive an earnest look during spring training.
Angels: Griffin Canning, RHP The UCLA product projected as an advanced college arm and lived up to that advanced billing, racing all the way to Triple-A in his first full season. His four-pitch mix with excellent command allowed him to miss bats all the way up the ladder and is why he is just about ready to hit the Angels' rotation.
Astros: Kyle Tucker, OF The No. 5 overall pick in the 2015 Draft, Tucker has recorded back-to-back 20-20 seasons in the upper Minors. His Triple-A line (.332/.400/.590) is much more representative of his upside than the numbers from his big league debut (.141/.236/.203).
Watch: Tucker crushes game-tying homer
Mariners: Wyatt Mills, RHP Viewed by scouts as a potential fast-riser when the Mariners took him in the third round of the 2017 Draft, Mills, 23, was just that in his first full season as he reached Double-A and followed it with an impressive turn in the Arizona Fall League. With right-handed delivery and profile that resembles Steve Cisheck's as well as comparable stuff, Mills has all the ingredients needed to become an impactful bullpen piece in 2019.
Rangers: Yohander Mendez, LHP Mendez's prospect luster has dimmed a bit over the last two years, yet that won't prevent him from fitting in the middle of the Rangers' rotation. He still has a quality changeup but needs to refine his command and breaking ball.
NL East
Braves: Touki Tousssaint, RHP The Braves have scores of young pitchers who could contend for Rookie of the Year honors next season. Toussaint gets the nod because of the pure stuff that helped him lead the system in ERA and strikeouts and because of how well his big league debut went, earning him a spot on the postseason roster.
Video: Mayo on potential 2019 NL Rookie of Year candidates
Marlins: Victor Mesa, OF While there currently are quite a few unknowns with Mesa, whom Miami signed for $5.5 million on Oct. 22, the consensus is that the 22-year-old outfielder shouldn't require all too much seasoning in the Minor Leagues after his success in Cuba's Serie Nacional. His plus defense in center field gives him a high floor in the big leagues, and any offensive contributions that surpass expectations could make him a ROY candidate.
Phillies: Ranger Suarez, LHP Suarez made four uneven appearances with Philadelphia in 2018, reaching the big leagues before he turned 23, and he's the kind of smart left-hander who will learn and make adjustments. He's moved very quickly since starting the 2017 season in A ball and should fit nicely into the back end of the young Phillies rotation.
Nationals: Victor Robles, OF Robles has taken second chair to teenage superstar Juan Soto in the Nationals' long-term outfield outlook with good reason. Yet, the future remains incredibly bright for the now 21-year-old center fielder, who hit .288/.348/.525 with three homers and three steals over 21 games with the Nats after a right elbow injury cost him much of the Minor League season. That Robles is the club's projected Opening Day center fielder at the moment makes him a preseason ROY favorite in the NL.
Watch: Robles triples on four-hit night
Mets: Peter Alonso, 1B New Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen has said he isn't opposed to having Alonso start the year in New York, and for good reason. All the first baseman did in 2018 is tie for the Minor League lead in homers, while leading it outright in RBIs. More power was on display in the AFL, and he has nothing left to prove in the Minors.
NL Central
Brewers: Keston Hiura, 2B The best hitter from the 2017 Draft class raked his way up to Double-A in his first full season, ultimately hitting .293/.357/.464 with 52 extra-base hits including 13 homers, and has been equally impressive in the Arizona Fall League, seemingly leaving him on the cusp of entering the Majors in'19. His knack for squaring up the baseball with authority to all fields is a truly special trait -- one that could make him a key Brewers run producer for a long time.
Cardinals: Dakota Hudson, RHP Aside from some command issues (18 BB in 27 1/3 IP), Hudson was effective in relief for the big league club in 2018. It's a crowded rotation in St. Louis, so a relief gig might be his best full-time entry for the time being where his extreme ground-ball rate (2.03 GO/AO in his Minor League career) would play well.
Cubs: Duane Underwood, RHP Underwood still needs some polish but was more aggressive and consistent in 2018 than he had been in years past. With a 92-97 mph fastball and a curveball that shows flashes of becoming a plus pitch, he could contribute in the bullpen and possibly the rotation.
Pirates: Mitch Keller, RHP The Pirates often are cautious with their young pitching prospects, but look for Keller to push them hard in 2019. After struggling upon first reaching Triple-A at age 22, the right-hander then had a 2.86 ERA in August. Room will have to be made in Pittsburgh's rotation, but Keller will be ready to jump through it once the door is opened.
Watch: Keller records 10th K
Reds: Nick Senzel, INF A finger injury, not to mention a bout with vertigo, greatly shortened his 2018 season, and that likely kept the No. 2 pick in the 2016 Draft from getting called up this past season. He's played several positions and was working on the outfield at instructs this fall to make sure there's a spot for his advanced bat in the big league lineup in 2019.
NL West
D-backs: Taylor Widener, RHP Widener has made a very successful transition from reliever to starter and has put his 2015 elbow surgery in his rear-view mirror with two successful, and healthy, seasons in 2017 and 2018. This last year was his first with the D-backs and he led the system in ERA and strikeouts, while holding Southern League hitters to a .197 batting average against.
Dodgers: Alex Verdugo, OF One of the best pure hitters in the Minors, Verdugo also offers developing power, a strong arm and the ability to play anywhere in the outfield. The only thing holding him back from being a slam-dunk Rookie of the Year candidate is a clear opening in the crowded Dodgers lineup.
Giants: Chris Shaw, OF The best power hitter in the Giants system, Shaw made his first big league home run a tape-measure shot: 468 feet off a Seunghwan Oh slider. As of now, he looks like the frontrunner to start in left field for San Francisco.
Padres: Luis Urias, 2B/SS Urias reached the Majors late in August and showed that he can do a little bit of everything before a groin injury prematurely ended his season after just 12 games. Assuming he's on the Padres' Opening Day roster, the 21-year-old could have an early advantage in the ROY based his ability to hit near the top of an order and make everyday contributions on both sides of the ball.
Rockies: Brendan Rodgers, SS With DJ LeMahieu set to depart as a free agent, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 Draft is ready to replace him at second base. He has more offensive potential than most middle infielders and the versatility to play anywhere in the infield that he's needed.
Watch: Rodger hammers a solo blast

I usually start the year review with some proverb or word of wisdom from some language i'm interested in.  this year the only quote that matters the Quote of the year for me. comes from @Jon_Cor at Forsaken "Nothing is ever infact a fact." but it didn't really work as a title. so "2017 review" it is,
Note
that its not obvious to beging with, but I have to state here and now, that all things I say in this run down of my year, are my opinion, and mine alone, I speak for no other creature but myself. so. to the buisness of year reviewing
Conventions:
Not as many as I would like, but enough to review :D
Forsaken- the uk's first (and most likely last) Shadowhunter verse convention
badly advertised, not very organised, attendees a mix of news and plastics, but past that - Joel labelle, Kaitlyn Leeb, Maxim Roy and Jon Cor...omfg!Jon was my reason if I needed one (besides the fact it was Shadowhunters) He was so awesome, didn't think I was odd for loving Hodge, Wasn't too offended when I told him he'd answered a question meant for Joel but I'd not stopped him because his answer was awesome, signed 3 things for me and even high fived me when I told his PA I wasn't into Disney that I liked broken and dark people, like Hodge.and... He got Hodge! I mean
really
got/gets him! more than any fan or actor I've ever spoken too.Since he's no longer in the show I doubt I'll get another chance to meet him but it was so... so worth the other crap (attendee caused I hasten to add)Kaitlyn recognised me as Meliorn and loved that I was openly not a Malec person and I scared Joel and Maxim with the circle blades Clare made, Jon loved them, didn't help the others though, telling everyone they were projectiles as well as hand to hand weapons."
nothing is ever in fact a fact."
Jon said during the con. but this is: Forsaken for me was the last decent Rogue con I would ever attend
Ultimate's 2 / Collectormania 24
- So we bought tickets to Starfury Ultimate's for Allys birthday, (50) but I didn't really see more than the opening and closing ceremonies and the parties, as we stayed at Allys and travelled in, but also because on the Saturday we drove down to Birmingham to Collectormania 24 (the first CM in its new home of Birmingham) so Ally could meet her AOS crush Ming Na Wen (Chun Lee, Street fighter) and I could finally meet Reverb/Vibe actor Carlos Valdes, my costume was in tatters since the back of my jacket has peeled but I took my shades to show my place as a viber. On the way to the con, Heather, who had purchased a photo with Carlos (I was settling for an auto and meeting him due to coin and said costume issues) was considering poses, I said I wish I'd brought Cyane, a gorilla teddy that my mother gave me as it would have worked for a Grodd substitute, she said maybe next time, but fate is funny, and when we stopped at the services she came across a littler Gorilla plushie with sparkly purple eyes, now, with Grodd/Vibe/Heathers love of Teddies and the fact the birthday woman has a major thing for purple. I still say it was fated.  she didn't think she had the coin, but since I'd budgeted to hell with meets and autos I did and bought it for us both. but didn't name it. after discussing the craziness of the idea we handed the naming to Carlos himself, since his character Cisco is the Meta-namer on the show. I cringe every time I think of his choice but he said it, so its law. sat next to Hugin on my shelf waiting for my next flashverse meet is a little gorilla called "Wriggle Rump."So I met Carlos and he gave my Reverb shades the Vibe seal of approval (just need a new Jacket).Ally met Ming, didn't drool, picked a picture of her on a motorcycle as her 8x10 (ming + bike = happy birthday girl) and we met Carly in full Stahma gear (pre Jaime being announced for Enchanted).
Smaller cons
were in small number for one reason and another this year:I did Wales Spring, MCM Liverpool, Finally got to meet Tony Curran and Casper Zafer at Newcastle Comic Con, Met David Yost and Arthur Darville at Em in Nottingham.
But the one that stands out for best reasons is Wakefield:I never thought there would be a con in my area, let alone one with three cool guests (James McKenzie, Roger Velasco and Justin Nimmo) but it happened, and I also got to work the Leeds Bradford Starfleet table with the C/O's"happened" to have my camera on me so I got nominated as the roving photographer/ part time chair photographer. I was by the chair twice when it counted, once to get Roger and Justin  to pose out of costume and one to have them pose in full Ranger uniform, Justin even asked for a pose he'd done in the show, went to explain and I just beamed "don't need to explain." now...me in full TNG uniform not sure if I looked cliché or just felt it lol but he seemed to get I was a PRIS fan.. somehow despite my geek showing I seem to have earned the friendship of Roger and Justin's agent Kelly, who..well. 2018 will be interesting.
What more can I say but>>>>>
Tumblr media
<<<<I've tried to quantify what happened, into words, I've asked for quotes. and nothing sums up the fall of Rogue Events. especially not for those who attended its swansong
Gigs:
2 plus Whitby where
The Birthday Massacre
played a mix of new and old album.but the stand out of the year has to be
Counterfeit
playing in Leeds. -Finally got to meet Jamie and as expected I made an ass of myself. tried to avoid all mention of TMI but ended up saying #BTA didn't I. anyway. the gig was amazing. the crowd were arseholes. didn't realise they were supposed to use the whole room to dance not just crowd the stage. and when Jamie got down to play "Letter to the lost." they didn't give him or the song the respect they deserved. Will be seeing them next year in Manchester. a city where I have yet to find a badly behaved crowd. but besides the idiots in my local area the band were amazing.I Saw
The Cruxshadows
in Sheffield again. new album is just as amazing as ever. and got to almost get jumped on, fell on, and walked into by Rogue. who came so close when he dropped off stage at one point it looked like he'd not planned it.
Other Events in 2017:
Scotland -
After Newcastle Comic con, Heather, myself and my dad went to Scotland for the week, on the way we stopped at a estuary town along the Clyde and I couldn't get Kate Rusbys Drowned lovers out my head.We stayed in Fort William, a stone's throw from GlenFinnan on the shores of Loch Sheil where the Macleod's from Highlander hail from. we visited Eilean Donan Castle used in the movie and the credits of the show, drove by the location of the farmhouse where Conner and Heather lived in the movie and (just to add another fandom) we were on the Loch when the train crossed the Glenfinnan Viaduct used in Harry Potter, it turns out the Viaduct isn't the only potter connection. the loch was the scene of the 2nd test in the Tri Wizard tournament, and one of the inlets (I think that's what they are) lead to where Dumbledore was buried. We also saw the giant Kelpie heads, and visited Edinburgh, but I underestimated just how BIG it is and we didn't get round everything we wanted to there. we are plotting a city only return visit.
McKellen Pride -
Sir Ian McKellen originates from the same town as my Parabatai (Wigan, Lancashire) and he returned this year to open the towns second ever pride and to hold a small audience the night before. Heather scored us tickets: Sir Ian opened with a reading from Lord Of The Rings (the Balrog/you shall not pass scene) he spoke about coming out, working on the stage and in Hollywood,  and playing a widow/dame (strangest sight in history I swear) and read Shakespeare..now I'm an idiot, I recorded him but my speaker was pointed the wrong way so its barely audible but the image is there :D.
Other Fandom Things in 2017
Star Trek
return to Series form with the USS Discovery leaving dock in September this year, starring Sonequa-Martin-Green, Jason Isaacs, James Frain, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif and Wilson Cruz. it has been highly debated and talked about both before and after the airing of the first half of season 1. which finished in (1a) in November. it returns (1b) in January and I for one cannot wait.
Killjoys
has been picked up for two seasons, to see it to the end of the story. and
Shadowhunters
has been given a season 3 (announced while we were at Forsaken) - 3a airs in March of 2018
A true friend is one who walks in when the rest of he world walks out:
As always I have to have a section to mark those people who have made this year bareable, the good thing is this year theres no need for a piece on those who've also made it unbearable.SO: to embarrass the hell out of them I am actualy going to name names.through cons and gigs, lunacy and Luls, these few extremly demented downworlders have made this year awesome.  Hunter, Kai, Sarah, Clare, Jennie, Adam, Ashley, Rosie, Taz, Carla, Michelle.A special mention to Sam. who, while in America let me bug her and didn't tell me to go jump. and who i managed to wheedle into organising to go to Milan 2018 the very day she returned from America. 2018 is going to be an experience for both of us lass.
Ally and Heather, what can I say that I don't say so often your tired of hearing it ladies? not sure i'd still be topside if it wasn't for you two sometimes. (and by topside I mean, not in an institution)I am not the expresive type as you know. but you know where I stand when needed... i hop.
Minnie: my little black and grey familliar has had her troubles this year. teeth and liver both givng her jip. but she is still here and barking. and I thiank every angel, watchtower, demon and deitiy for her every chance I get. and I do not care if that is soppy.
Short and sweet?
and thats it ladies and gents. my year in review. _________
I am working on a photographic round up.
