I've reached a point where I can't do much in the garden until some more conditions are met, so in order to cope with this interim stage of work stress I figured tomorrow I will crack open Aeschylus after my meeting. We can finally do that Elektra liveblogging I've been meaning to.

i was explaining to a dear companion that while the actual events being described are often nothing to me i enjoy the general melodramatic cadence of her writing & that it is a similar experience with dune in that the way it is written takes precedence and i could not make it through the books written by his son because even if the things taking place were like "things that might happen in dune" the way it was told did not feel correct. & he said "you are the only person that feels this way about dune"

The thing is that I will never, except in extremely dire circumstances, email anybody important from my phone. This is because I use the swipe to text function and it gives me some weird autocorrect options sometimes. For instance, the other day I was texting my friend about wearing my sluttiest dress to get cocktails with my husband, and my phone autocorrected 'sluttiest' to 'aorist,' since I presumably use that word more often. Now, I don't know about y'all, but I, a philology grad student, do not want to find out what abomination of a sentence I might accidentally email my supervisor if I am trying to discuss with him some point of Indo-European tense systems and my phone decides to take this autocorrect in the opposite direction.

Trying to quickly (re)learn Latin 101 over the holiday. So far, my Ancient Greek knowledge has been very helpful but occasionally causes me to yell things like, “What monster replaced the aorist tense with perfect?!” at my textbook.

The Value Of Grace
Gary Pollard Peter acknowledges the difficulty of living with faith in I Pt 1.8 — You haven’t even seen Jesus, but you love him. You can’t see him right now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a profound joy that can’t be explained.  All of this is for a reason (1.9) — Your faith has a goal, and you’re getting closer to that goal: salvation. This isn’t something we’ll get in this life.…

why are verbs so complicated :/ i went on a wikipedia deep dive trying to compare two languages i'm learning but like. what is valency and aorist and gnomic and syntactic and optative and clitic and aahhhh. like i know (for me) full immersion-learning works best, but i wish i at the same time could ~know~ these things without it being massively overwhelming :')
verbs my beloved. they are always doing the most. like i spent 7 years in grad school and wrote a whole dissertation on verb morphology yet i'm still convinced i don't actually know how they work.
