Another terukaneaoi au because I'm slowly going insane over them.

Aoi gets bored one night and being the 'supernatural' enthusiast she is, decides to summon a demon, just for fun cause she doesn't believe she'll actually summon one. But the thing is that she does.

Teru, a very powerful demon that gets summoned every once in a blue moon for a wish gets summoned by this innocent adorable sixteen year old that doesn't look much younger than him if it wasn't the fact he wasn't human. He asks what her wish is and of course she was clueless and decided after a whole day, that Teru was interesting to her and she wished for him to stay with her (of course Teru can't deny her wish when she uses those pleading eyes no matter how hard he tries).

And the same exact night, he finds a small little angel, in its cookie sized form that was meant to disguise and protect it, Akane. The angel had been looking after Aoi (stalking) for about a year now. (He saw her and just had to stay with her; he didn't know what he was feeling but he decided to leave heaven's gates to be wherever she went).

They fight and Teru thinks he's cute in his little form and all, he decides to keep him for Aoi. So, the next morning Aoi questions why Teru is holding a small little angel that is very much alive (and very angry as well as chatty) and not a stuffed toy. Akane is automatically drawn by Aoi, going over to her, basking in her presence. Aoi decides he's adorable and to keep him, she gives him a lot of attention and even Teru complains that the small little angel gets more love than him. (Just imagine Teru pouting as he complains).

At first, for a week, Teru just hides in the closet while Aoi is at school, always happily greeting her when she gets home while Akane gets to come with her since he's tiny and normal humans can't see him.

Only for a week, until Teru wouldn't stop complaining so Akane (albeit for the first time) got so annoyed he went into his normal form, and pulled some special amulets from his robes pockets (Teru knew that special amulets can make angels and demons make you seem human but they were very rare and rarely even accessible, he doesn't understand how Akane easily had so many).

SATORU

“Aoi, did you take out the trash?” You ask your nine-year-old son while trying not to giggle. Aoi has recently discovered pranks, and he suggested playing one on Satoru. You couldn’t help but think that was an amazing idea.

Your husband was leisurely sitting on the couch, playing a game on the console he and your son shared. He was able to see you from his peripheral vision while you and Aoi were in the dining room. He didn’t seem to be too intrigued by the conversation, but Satoru is a chronic eavesdropper. He can’t help it with his technique and all.

“No, mom. Why can’t you do it?” Aoi plays his role perfectly, even throwing in an annoyed groan at you. Gojo cut his eyes towards you two, but he stayed silent for a moment. He knew this was your battle to face, and he wasn’t usually the disciplinary parent anyways.

“Because I told you to do it, Aoi. It’s your chore.” You say, putting on a serious voice as you would if he had really been sassing off to you.

“Ugh. Shut up, mom!” Aoi yells with a dramatic eye roll.

Immediately, you hear the game console cut off. It seems like you two had garnered Satoru’s attention. Footsteps carry into the dining room, and your all too tall husband leans against the doorframe.

Aoi sees his father, and his eyes widen. Your little actor. He then tries to walk off, but Satoru easily put his hand out against Aoi’s chest, preventing him from going anywhere.

“Woah, woah, woah, there little man. Who do you think you’re talking to there?” He interjects as his hands slowly unwrap his bindings from around his eyes, letting you know that he’s about to get serious.

“She’s getting on my nerves, dad!” Aoi continues to play the role, even though you can tell that he’s scared shitless.

“Hey, look at me.” Satoru says as he bends his knees to be eye level with Aoi. Your son complies with his dad’s order. “I don’t give a shit, okay? Never, and I mean, never tell your mother to shut up unless you intend on fighting me afterwards. She says to take out the trash, you say yes and take out the trash. Do you understand me?” Satoru says as he holds his son’s shoulders, squeezing them a bit so Aoi knows he’s not fooling around.

“Because I don’t think you want to fight me, do you?” Satoru questions. His blue eyes beam in the light, making your son nervously sweat.

“Baby, it’s just a prank.” You quickly interject with a laugh as you gently nudge your husband away from your son.

“Yeah dad, I was just acting!!” Aoi’s nervous gaze flutters into an adorable smile.

Satoru rolls his eyes and playfully laughs along. “You two are too silly, makin’ me turn off my game for this.” He shakes his head as he wraps his eyes back up.

“You were like gonna hollow purple me!” Aoi shouts with an excited laugh, and he reenacts Satoru’s cursed technique.

“Yeah, I love your mom a little too much.” Satoru responds with a grin up towards your direction.

SUGURU

Mimiko and Nanako are coming into their teen years, and recently, they’ve been obsessed with the idea of TikTok. After seeing the “shut up mom” prank all over, they knew that they had to play it on Suguru.

You, of course, agreed to help them pull off their little shenanigan.

“You two are not going out. It’s a school night.” You chide at the twin girls, giving them a small wink as Suguru was enjoying a cup of tea while sitting at the breakfast bar. He was scrolling mindlessly on his phone, reading the news or something like that.

“Mom, please. Everyone’s going.” Nanako pled and even threw in a small pout.

“Yeah, who cares if it’s a school night?” Mimiko chimed in.

“Girls.” Suguru warned as he normally did when you were having to deal with the twins. He didn’t like the idea of the girls ganging up on you.

“I said no. I bet you two didn’t even do your homework yet either.” You carry on, eyeing the two girls as if they were really in trouble.

“Ugh! Mom, shut up!” The girls somehow managed to say in sync. The two had obviously practiced their lines.

The tea glass hit the counter, and Suguru a stood up from his seat on the stool. “Hey. I don’t ever want to hear that kind of language in this house, especially not to your mother. Got that?” He said as he eyed your daughters.

Your husband was a bit of a strict father to the girls. He really just wanted them to turn out good, so he was the main disciplinary figure in the house.

“Dad! She’s-“

“Aht.” He cuts Mimiko off, and starts to walk up to the girls. “I didn’t ask. Apologize to your mother this instant. Then, go upstairs and do your homework. You two are grounded from going out for at least a month.”

“Sugu, it’s a prank.” You say as you can’t hold back a laugh from how angry he got that quickly. “It’s a prank, sweetie.”

Your two girls were nodding quickly, holding their hands out in surrender. “We saw it on TikTok!”

Suguru rolls his eyes at the three of you. “That app is no good for you.” He quietly chides. “Did you two do your homework?”

Mimiko and Nanako exchange nervous glances, and they both run up to their rooms to get it done.

Your husband laughs quietly and shakes his head before sitting back down on his stool. You walk over towards him and card your fingers through his long hair. He lets out a long exhale of contentment while leaning his head into your touch. “What are we gonna do with those two, hm?”

“Love them and try our best to teach them.” You softly respond before pressing a kiss to his cheek.

TOJI

Toji is a pretty laid back dad. He lets you take the lead on a lot of the parenting aspects, since it comes to you more naturally than it does with him. However.. he has his moments.

“Megumi, come help me do the dishes.” You say to your 13-year-old son. He’s in that weird stage of puberty where you’re his best friend one day and his worst enemy the next, which means he sometimes agreed to play pranks with you.

“Busy, mom.” He mumbles at the table as he’s trying to learn the hand signs for one of his shikigami. He was left learning this stuff on his own since Toji wasn’t a sorcerer, and you weren’t apart of the Zenin clan. You had no idea how to do the hand gestures.

“You can do that after you’re done helping me, Gumi.” You say as you turn on the kitchen sink. Your son doesn’t even acknowledge that you said anything.

Toji eyes him from his seat at the dining table, waiting for his son to comply.

“Gumi. Get in here.” You finally say after a minute of him not responding to you.

“Shut up, Mom!” He raises his voice at you, and immediately, Toji is on him quicker than you could respond.

“What did you just say to your mother, brat?” Toji grits as he stares down at his teenage son. Megumi looked back up at him mortified. “I brought you in this world, and I will take your ass out of it if I hear you speak to your mom like that again.”

“Baby, baby, baby, it’s a prank!” You say as you rush over to Toji. Megumi cracks a nervous smile, and you gently nudge Toji back.

“It’s a prank!” Megumi shouts as he leans back away from Toji slightly.

Your husband lets out an annoyed grunt. “You two play too much. Gonna make me kill my own son.” He says as he releases Megumi’s shoulder. He walks back over to his seat at the dining table and smacks your ass on the way back.

SUKUNA

“Ryu, come take out the trash!” You yell to your son. He recently brought up the idea of pranking Sukuna by yelling at you to shut up in front of him. You had urged your son that this was a bad idea, but he was persistent.

Sukuna was sat at the dining table, eating whatever Uraume had prepared for him. Usually, Uraume handled the trash as well, but you distinctly told them to leave it.

There’s no response.

“Ryu! Trash now!” You call out again in a more frustrated tone.

Sukuna is biting his tongue at this point. There is nothing that he hates more than insolence, especially towards you. You’re his queen, and he demands for all to respect you, including his son.

No response.

“Ryu!”

“Okay mom! Shut the fuck up!”

All four of Sukuna’s eyes widened, and he put down his fork. “Domain expansion. Malevolent-“

“It’s a prank!” You shout as you spin to look at Sukuna quickly. Your son is standing behind you, quite literally trembling in fear.

“Yeah- it’s a p-prank, dad.” Ryu stutters out.

Sukuna narrows his gaze, and he looks between the two of you. “Foolish.” He grunts. “Boy, come have a seat.” He commands, and your son reluctantly complies.

“If you ever pull some shit like that seriously, I’m not afraid to start over and make a new kid. I got nothing but time on my hands.” Your husband says while eyeing your son.

“Ryu’s a good kid, Kuna.” You assure him as you walk over to your husband and rub on his shoulders a bit.

“Mmm, for now.” He mumbles, and he nods his head to the trashcan. “Take the trash out.”

NANAMI

Your husband was sitting in the living room, enjoying his “lazy Sunday” as he called it. He had a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other. He couldn’t help but feel incredibly grateful for the life he was living right now.

He had everything he ever dreamed of: a stable job, an amazing wife, a small family in a loving home.

You were sitting next to him, casually rubbing on his thigh through his pajama pants. You and your daughter had been texting about playing a prank on your dear husband, and it was finally going to happen.

“Hana, did you fold the clothes like I told you to?” You call out to your daughter as she’s in her bedroom. Nanami turns a page in his book, still not paying too much attention.

“Mom, I’m doing something!” Your daughter yells back.

“Hana, get in here and fold those clothes!” You shout back, getting a bit more serious. Nanami lets out a small sigh as he places his mug on the coffee table. He’s normally quick to nip Hana’s attitude in the bud.

“I’m busy!”

“Hana!”

“Okay mom! Just shut up already!” She finally yells as she storms into the living room. Nanami shuts his book and immediately stares down your daughter.

“What did you just say?” He asks as he sits up from his cozy position. His jaw tightens a bit as he glares at Hana.

“I just told her to shut up. She’s being overdramatic.” Your daughter continues, playing her part perfectly.

“Who’s her? Your mother? You’re telling my wife to shut up?” Nanami says as he starts to stand up.

“It’s just a prank, Ken!”

“Dad, it’s a prank-!”

You and your daughter both shout nervously, and Nanami looks at both of you confused for a moment. It then clicks in his head. “God, don’t stress me out like that.” He chides as he relaxes back on the couch. He wraps his arm back around you and picks up his book again.

One of these days, I gotta draw the THH cast as their sprites as lore accurate as I can. They are just too cute and goofy. Like, them all doing that cute little happiness waves (except Hifumi and Sakura cus they're too cool for that!) Like, just look at them!! Also, screw it. I'm gonna gush about them all cus I make the rules and they deserve to be appreciated!!! Their little waves are too cute and they all look like they're gonna break into the little Club Penguin dance which is just even cuter. They also all look like they wanna be lifted up and spun around too. Silly little guys -v-

Makoto looks so chill and comfy here. Cus of how simplified he is, he's giving the energy that he's just in some sweats and that's cute. He looks like he's cheering on too specifically. Like he's happily yelling "You can do it!" Not TOO loud though!

Kyoko just looks so happy here and it's precious. Since she's so stoic, it's even cuter!! And the way her little ears poke out of her hair?! Even more adorable! She looks like she'd have the most precious little giggle. She looks like she'd cause mischief too. I'd buy her doing some arson. She looks so gentle though too.

Same as Kyoko, his silly joy warms my heart. Also, my brain usually reads the whites of the eyes as the actual eyes instead of the glasses when he's small and from afar, so he just looks especially mischievous. Even without the glasses thing though, he looks like that to me! A little rascal up to no good! Either that or the glasses make Byakuya's eyes look extra sparkly making him look even more happy but also just as cheeky!

Her little wave is slightly lower on one of her arms and that's just precious. Also, she's so sad! Give this girl a hug! She looks so spooked and close to tears with that wobbly little mouth of hers. Her glases and how my brain looks at the white as the eyes accidently makes her look even sadder! Like a distressed wet cat.

Head empty vibes from Hiro here. No thoughts, only wave. I bet he doesn't even know where he is right now. ONLY WAVE.

The wave for Aoi especially gives me flipper energy. Like a little penguin trying to fly! How precious! She also looks like she's excitedly explaining stuff, minutes away from jumping up and down from how excited she is!

Boss energy. Sakura is giving me Knuckles the Echidna energy when he first debuted. I love it!!! She'll never not be both cute and badass as hell B]

His head so big. Leon's hair makes his head so big and I find that charming. Pluck him from the ground like a root.

Sayaka's little cheeks make her especially cute! She's so happy to be here! Kinda like Makoto too, she gives pep-talk energy. Sayaka fits more in a "cheering up someone" energy though. It fits her with that bright and cheery energy. She also just looks happy in general! A bundle of joy!

Fancy arm flaps. Also, the juxtaposition of her fancy attire and the cute arm flaps makes it all cuter. She looks like she'd excited to say something! Just seeing her this excited though is heartwarming like how Kyoko and Byakuya are! She surprisingly doesn't look up to no good though!

So silly and goofy, like he's doing a little dance. Hifumi also looks like a crab. Like he'd shuffle away like a little crab. Maybe, just like the crab, we are all destined to evolve into Hifumi u_u

The arm flaps especially look cute on Taka. He just has that excitable energy when he's fired up. He looks just a BIT naked without his big brows though. And everyone else doesn't have brows but Taka looks bald without them! He's cute though so I will forgive him!

Mondo is like Hiro here. No thoughts. He looks more relaxed if anything though. Guy's in his own little world thinking about dogs. He looks so silly in his coat too like he could sneak around, goofily covering his face as he tries to shuffle around in the shadows.

CUTE CHEEK BLUSHES!!! CUTE CHIHIRO CHEEK BLUSHES! Precious as hell. Also, kinda how I said that I misread the glasses on Byakuya and Toko, I misread Chihiro's outfit. I cant' help but see Chihiro with the sickest shoulder pads known to the human eye!! Like a cute, slightly weird Vegeta cosplay! Chihiro could made it work though!

The cheek blushes are never old. So cute!!! And the cute ears poking out and how blissful she looks! Cheer on, girl! It's also just nice seeing her so happy! She deserves joy, damn it!

SPOILERS AHEAD BTW SO I CAN GO A BIT MORE IN DEPTH AND ALSO FOR A SPECIAL BONUS LITTLE GUY!

For the REAL Junko, yeah, there's not much difference than with Mukuro. Same cheek blushes. Only differences are the tie, bow on the chest, and the hair accessories. I wanted to include her though, even if she's not that special to be honest which is a bit sad. But the one who got done dirty more is Mukuro cus she has an error on hers! The bow on the chest appears when it shouldn't cus she doesn't have that on her outfit and those 3 pixels are just strays! So, yeah. POOR MUKURO T-T Also almost ran out of room for the sisters in the tags, especially Mukuro, so gosh! Mukuro was almost done dirty again!!

As for the bonus one, Toko! SHE ACTUALLY LOOKS HAPPY! YAY!!! It's thematic too cus Toko's in a much better place! She's also giving wild energy too! Like she scurries around but in a cool way! The scurrying is cute though cus she's so skrungly.

this is really the only guy i use. felt pen on clip studio is excellent for the sketchier style i like! when it comes to coloring i just use a basic solid brush !

i imagine they do, and they each get assigned a baby (tanjiro with giyuu, inosuke with sanemi, and zenitsu with obanai) but it lasts for barely a day. inosuke has no idea what hes doing and obanai cant stand zenitsu

tengens wives find the situation hysterical but they help out however they can. ofc they all fight over tengen. they love helping out with the kiddies but they especially enjoy taking care of the younger ones-- they think mui, mitsuri, and shinobu are adorable! tengen definitely tries to flirt with them but hes a cringe fail ten year old

kanao, aoi, and the butterfly girls all help out as well. kanao and shinobu are typically glued together

shinjuro and senjuro are shocked to see rengoku (and obanai) and while shinjuro is pissed off at first, he can't Not take in his boys. senjuro and little obanai are super similar in nature so

urokodaki, tengen, and nezuko are worried but excited about giyuu's transformation. they're like lets freaking go. good childhood moment

and of course genya thinks the situation is hilarious and hes happy to get to spend time with his brother, although he's VERRRRY awkward. he's a bit avoidant at times but usually gyomei and tanjiro can talk him

aw thank you! to answer your question;; shinobu and gyomei basically spend time with him and are attentive to his wants/needs to help him recognize he does matter. rengoku and the others help with this! essentially love language stuff and affirmations and what not

ill be honest i totally forgot about this. yea! i would say the babies are only put in a very specific area of the manor and they deep clean it constantly. if they have a good amount of sick/wounded i imagine they have gyomei or etc take them in. im not sure! in my mind the hashira all rotate and babysit and etc

sanemi tries to make them laugh. he remembers his little siblings always cheering up when he would make silly faces and sounds, so he does that here

giyuu awkwardly pats the other baby's back/head and is like "there there" ... he remembers how sabito's hugs would make him feel better so he awkwardly hugs the other. most of the time obanai/sanemi stop crying purely bc they're confused as to why giyuu is hugging them

obanai would usually talk them out of it, but he can't do too much since he's restricted to baby babble. so instead, he will try to find one of their toys and "gift" it to them. ex giyuu was sobbing hysterically until obanai found his fox plushie and gave it to him

i think he would be a little awkward at first but he would get the hang of it. most of what he does is just keep them entertained and make sure they arent sick or hurt. though he eventually builds up the courage to ask if he can feed obanai. from that point on whenever muichiro is babysitting he's the one offering to feed him, though someone else has to make the bottle-- he doesn't know how to do that

Hands down, Obanai. Though I also feel really sad for Gyomei and Muichiro, and I think Tengen's story (what we know of it) is pretty sad. I don't like comparing traumas, though! but yeah. obanai is. wow. poor guy

When they go on shopping dates, they LOVE getting those silly matching gachapon rings (the one I’m thinking about are like. Plastic rings with a love bird perched on them, it’s seriously so cute)!! Since they started doing it way before they were official, the sight of stupid plastic rings makes them weirdly sentimental c:

After Aoi gifts Nene an actual metal promise ring on one of their anniversaries and they move past all the more serious sappy stuff, Nene jokes, “Is it a bad time to tell you I liked the gachapon ones better?” with a teasing smile and Aoi answers fondly, “Can I tell you a secret? Me too.” as they close in for a kiss.

Years later, Nene proposes with one of their very first gachapon rings and Aoi can’t help but burst into laughter, pulling out another gachapon ring from a different set. As soon as the giddy laughter dies down, they put the rings on, adoring how their mismatched rings (A flower and a fish) look on their entertained hands.

By the way, this is a good scenario move, in everything he is a dream prince guy, a caring person obsessed with her, he will never leave her, which is what she needs, he will convince her of this every day lol, but at the same time he is not an actual ideal at all, not a fairy tale that has become reality, he is still just a person, being wrong, with flaws, imperfect, because there is no such ideal, it cannot be achieved, and in an attempt to choose the best of the best, cutting off simpler realistic options, Aoi got to the bottom of a real madman. She's a fool too.

It's just that I seem to be turning into Aoi in the bad sense of trust issues, and she really pisses me off because of this, and accordingly, eww, seriously, like what 🙄 (I adore her and can't stand her for this) I hope that while I realize all this, I'm not a monster yet lol (didn't turned to silly Aoi, what wrong with this girl)

I know I keep putting her as the Main Girl in these musicals, but she really is the most equipped for the job. She obviously has good vocals and knows how to lead a crowd, she's the best host!

Jason Dean - Mondo Owada

Y'know I had to make my main Bad Boy THE Main Bad Boy. He would kill all the JD main songs (Freeze your Brain, Our Love is God, Meant to be Yours, ect.) and he would have so much fun doing it!

Heather Chandler (Red) - Junko Enoshima

Obviously. She is THE Bad Bitch who likes to mess with people. She would have so much fun as a sarcastic ghost.

Heather Duke (Green) - Aoi Asahina

I have absolutely no basis for this. I just think it would be fun for her to take over the popular title after Junko-Heather dies. She has so much energy and I think she would be great at being fake condescending.

Heather McNamara (Yellow) - Mukuro Ikusaba

Another obvious pick. She's already pathetic (affectionate) in canon so why would it be any different in musical form? Having Sayaka encourage her not to off herself and to be more confident is an adorable thought.

Kurt Kelly - Leon Kuwata

I think Leon would love to be the 'Smartest of the Football Team' and the greatest FuckBoy in the musical. Plus how could he pass up singing a whole song about Blue Balls?

Ram Sweeney - Chihiro Fujisaki

This is so funny to me. Thinking about Chihiro humping a pig statue and begging Sayaka to sleep with them is so funny. Please re-watch the musical, but every time Ram pops up, imagine Fujisaki and I swear, you will love it.

Martha Dunnstock - Kiyotaka Ishimaru

Martha is bullied literally the entire musical and is naive. This reminds me of Taka. That's it, that's the whole explanation. I can't think of anyone else that would fit here. Maybe Makoto, but I don't know.

I saw someone else put Hiro as Ms. Fleming and I don't know why, but that makes sense. I think him being an adult or teacher of some sort, especially someone as silly as Ms. Fleming, is the right choice.

There aren't many major characters so it was easier to sort, plus I personally don't take Heathers as seriously as I do Hamilton. I see Hamilton as a Drama with a fleck of humor while I see Heather's as the opposite. A story infused with humor with a fleck of Drama. (I mean there LITERALLY is a whole song about Blue Balls which is so funny to me) Because of that, I don't have to think as hard about categorizing which is so nice.

Okay so I’m an AkaNene shipper and a lot of people don’t get that ship (they tend to think it’s a crack ship or a rare pair just made up for fun)

I personally came up with this huge adoration of the ship over one side comic and then the severance / red house arcs era (so around chapters 70-90’s)

The side comic I’m talking about is the one where Nene asked Aoi if Aoi really didn’t care about Akane’s crush on her and if she wouldn’t mind if Nene went out with him instead (it’s the one where Nene skips school for like a week because of it)

And the rest :D rubs my silly little hands together

During the severance Nene loses two very important people! One being Aoi, and the other being Hanako. And for Akane, it’s Aoi too.

I honestly think it’s really interesting to see how their relationship would blossom after chapter 72- the Terunene “date” chapter. Akane seems really angry in that chapter because Nene is indirectly why Aoi was gone. But, I think by the end of it he would be much more willing to hear Nene out.

I think they’d be each others support systems as we know Nene got depressed after the severance, and Akane probably wasn’t any better either (I’m looking at you watering can Akane official art)

They wouldn’t see each other as replacements for each others love interest- but they would see it as something to have in common and help each other over.

My hc’s for the severance period are pretty dark so if I had to think of fun AkaNene headcanons:

Whenever Nene’s really upset Akane will redirect her to watch something she really enjoys. I love the idea of Magical Girl enjoyer for Nene (projecting lol) but I think knowing her canon interests she’d be more interested in things like Madoka Magica rather than Magical Doremi/Precure/Sailor Moon 💭 Akane wouldn’t be super interested in that sort of thing but after watching it with Nene a few times he finds himself wrapped up in the lore and maybe even starts relating to Homura 😭 given the time loop based losing a crush stuff

Unlike Aoi- Nene loves rain and storms! She likes the adrenaline. As long as she’s warm and under a waterproof jacket she likes it. She’s the sort of person to lay in the grass and just let the water hit her face to me. So, sometimes if a storm starts she’ll shoot Akane a text that she’s coming over and then drags him outside to dance in the rain :D

Nene usually ends up freezing cold after this so Akane has to dry her hair off with a towel and get the space heater and blankets out. He sort of lectures her about how she needs to listen to him and be more careful, but it’s out of concern - not to be mean.

on this note of hair , Nene has thick curly hair! I like to hc that she flat irons it to try and fit in with Aoi and the others because curl care can be a night mare as someone who struggles with it. Her hair gets super frizzy sometimes and she finds it easier to just iron it. Akane tries to tell her that he likes her natural hair, and helps her comb tangles out gently. This ends up leading to her deciding to stop straightening it every day.

As we know from one of the side comics, Akane has a book shelf full of books that all have a character named Aoi in it. I think Nene would find that a little silly, but drag her interest so much that she ends up slowly reading all of them and then discussing them with Akane- like an Aoi book club 🔥

I also think that on her own Nene would probably read some crazy stuff that Akane wouldn’t exactly expect. She’d be scrolling through an e-book on her phone until Akane finally looks over and realizes she’s reading a detailed murder scene from American Psycho

Akane on the other hand would read old timey romances I think. Stuff with Princes/Knights and Princesses. I also think he’d start getting into the psych horror magical girl genre because of Nene. He’d really love watching Revolutionary Girl Utena :) I do love transfem Akane hc’s so he’d either relate to Utena because he sees himself in her and gender euphoria OR he would just see himself and Aoi in it… like having the right spirit despite it being the WLW of all time

Whenever Nene’s too busy or depressed to take care of her hamsters Akane will take over. He tells her that it’s a chore and he only does it because he loves her- but he’s secretly really attached to them and gives them silly nicknames because Nene’s given names are usually pretty extreme haha

Not many people tickle her, but to those brave enough to try she’ll give a little lady-like laugh that’s so enchanting it repels them like a tidal wave of pure goodness

Of course, her real laugh (which probably only Nene, Akane, and maybe Teru know about) is much more snorty and pitchy and desperate <3 also a little nasally, or sounds like she’s talking with a stuffy nose and it’s adorable in a goofy way

She will also name-call the flip out of anyone who tks her (not that she hates it that’s just how she is)

Will probably not tickle people very often, but thinks it’s fun to watch people squirm and scream for mercy, so calm but completely evil

Her fav lee is Nene bc she thinks her reactions are funny (used to be Akane but It’s Complicated)

Nene

Turns into a completely evil gremlin when given the opportunity to tk someone. She may be a sweet-looking girl but she is merciless and surprisingly mighty (let Nene be a punk and beat people up agenda!!!)

Squeals and kicks and turns completely red when tk-ed or tk is mentioned; embarrassingly enough, her ankles are most ticklish

Poor thing will make up excuses not to tickle her like “My laugh is too loud!” and “My face isn’t cute!” and people will want to tickle her more to prove her wrong (please let my girl be happy)

People see her and just want to tickle her. And they will. She can’t escape. It’s the main character effect

Sakura (MY PRETTIEST GIRL EVER!!!!!)

Definitely not much of a ler, but when she is she approaches it with such scientific intensity that it’s actually scary

She’s very sweet and very gentle, honestly, but it’s entirely offset by how terrifying and mysterious she is

Ticklish but exceptional at hiding her reactions from dealing with Tsukasa. If you remind her that she can laugh, you may be able to get a few giggles out of her, unless you’re Natsuhiko

Sensitive in very unusual places, so nobody knows about it

Kou

He’s super bony and all of them are ticklish

Embarrassed because he feels like being tickled weakens his coolness factor (will literally cave instantly if any of his friends ask him to tk him)

Likes to tickle people to cheer them up, always very playful, will also do the tk while acting tough if someone is being bratty (usually Hanako or Mitsuba)

Nene tks him because!!! He's her sweet underclassman!! (more content for them please)

Would rather beat people with bats than tk them, but he will tickle out of revenge (usually Teru). Treats it like a war for subjugation, way too hot-headed for the silliness that is tiggle

What do you think of Aoi and Akane in the Hanako-kun of magic au from last year? Do you have maybe any headcanons on how they could work with Aoi being a witch and Akane not knowing? (The contrary to canon, Aoi is the one with the secret identity) They are also both their class representatives contrary to canon where only Akane is and I think that's a nice addition. Aoi seems really shy with people in this au too and really don't want anyone to fall in love with her or interact at all with her

I read the translation again and Nene even implied that Akane is Aoi's crush and I think it's so cute

Aoi is indeed shown to be very shy in this AU, so it surprised me how forward she was at the end of the event, not nearly as arrogant and distant as canon Aoi.

Akane and Aoi don't seem to be neighbors here, they don’t have the energy of friends that know each other since forever, so I believe she signed up to be a class representative to try to get closer to Akane. She is too shy to talk to him in class and call people's attention, and she is too busy to get this role for no reason, that with balancing her student life and her witch life, the only reason I can see her sacrificing her free time working in school is to help Akane and try to get closer to him while he is alone.

And the one that pushed her to try to get closer in the first place must have been Nene, Aoi's childhood friend! I don’t know when exactly their witch training started, but they are pretty close, so Nene must have taken the spot of first friend and unconsciously influenced Aoi to get a more silly and positive view of romance.

Aoi doesn't feel popular in this AU which must help her see love in a less distorted way than canon, I personally think she is less arrogant (she isn't praised every time she so much as walk like canon AOI) and more open about her feelings, despite having a lack of confidence in herself, hiding both because she doesn’t know how to start a conversation, and because she doesn’t want to risk people learning her real identity.

Is also interesting that she wears glasses, but only as a student. It wouldn’t make sense for it to be a disguise, Nene doesn’t have glasses after all, so I'm being self indulgent and using the headcanon that she has slight myopia and needs glasses to read the blackboard.

Aoi still isn’t comfortable with the idea of being loved, caught off guard when Mei fell in love with her for the night, and preferring to use a full body suit over having a boy crush on her until Halloween ends (though it could also be because she realizes nene likes Amane and she is a loyal friend).

Either Akane is an exception, or she will also freak out when he starts to show interest back. I believe her crush is the main reason she is so averted to love in his au, since she is a very sweet girl, she probably doesn’t want people that have no chance to date her getting attached, she doesn’t like rejecting people or being loved when she doesn’t reciprocate.

Akane is just as hard-working and studious as canon but he feels less stressed (probably cause he doesn’t have to deal with either the Clock Keepers or Teru's demands here), and cockier. Just look at him!

It makes his little blush and awed look on the final event art of Aoi holding the back of his vest all the more adorable, he got a crush too.

Aoi and Akane would have an “Everyone knows they like each other but they aren’t dating” relationship for a while, cause Akane seems very popular in this au, so he never was the one confessing before. He also doesn't want to misread her and make their time as class representatives awkward.

However, knowing Akane, the boy would confess the very day he notices interest from Aoi. I can picture them finishing up their class rep work, Aoi giggling at some anecdote Akane tells, and eye contact lasting way too long despite Aoi usually not meeting anyone's eye for more than three seconds. So Akane tests compliments on her that tiptoe on flirting but could be taken as friendly, happy by how happy it makes her, and surprised she even compliments him back after a bit, albeit a very short and shy comment.

This gives him the courage to confess. He is awkward, having no experience with this, and not very loud, since they aren’t that close and anyone can tell Aoi is shy, but it is impossible to take his words as anything other than a confession. Aoi panic when her shocked silence makes Akane hold her hand and repeat his confession.

She ends up running away and squeaking she'll think about it.

Aoi talks to Nene about the situation in misery, her friend is the only one that knows about Aoi's crush after all, and Nene begs Sakura to give her a courage potion. Sakura is amused, but she feels sympathetic enough to give Aoi a drop of courage. The next day Aoi corners Akane and accepts his love in the middle of class, much to everyone’s surprise. He is flustered but accepts it, finding her burst of courage cute.

When they start dating Akane easily accepts her excuse that she has a part-time job with Nene, he even praises her for being hard-working (which makes Aoi feel a bit guilty).

Overall they are a sweet couple, but there is the occasional confusion caused by her double life: On the days her spells go wrong and she gains physical changes as a consequence, such as snake eyes or cat features, Aoi panic and wear random scarfs, hats, and sunglasses, acting more on edge and not wanting Akane to touch her. It makes Akane worried that he did something wrong, and he tries to understand what, so he doesn't do it again, but Aoi's reassurance that this is not about him just makes him confused and worried for other reasons. Aoi is usually happy when she gets back from her 'job' though, so he doesn't insist.

At school, Akane takes more of her load of work, noticing how her 'job' makes her very tired.

Akane gets involved in the magic world at times, and Aoi always freaks out about it. She gives him magic amulets for protection, and Akane finds her gifts weird but they are clearly important to her, so he proudly wears them, growing fond of them with time.

He is smart enough to understand she is hiding something from him, but he trusts her to tell him eventually, Aoi may not be a very open and talkative girl but she is very sweet.

For what it's worth, these are the Visions that I would give my CMCs. In case that helps explain my thought processes on how Visions are bestowed/gifted/granted.

Beatriz would have a Dendro Catalyst. She traveled halfway across the world to study in an effort to find a cure for her insomnia. She wants to learn more about chemistry and medicine so that she can help others. Naturally she's going to have her head in the books, so tomes make sense for her weapon.

Jiwon would have a Pyro Polearm! He's very passionate about his work, and he's just like an eager puppy when out in public. He's constantly striving to improve his acting and singing, and I think that burning passion lends itself well to Pyro. Polearm because it's elegant and he's a rich boy. Also he's tall and muscular lol

Sae-eun would have an Anemo Sword! Right now she feels trapped by her father's expectations, but Yoosung helps her find the bit of freedom she needs to express herself. And once she feels comfortable... she is a whirlwind. She isn't studying what she wants to quite yet, but a little push will definitely bring her closer to that freedom she seeks. She gets a Sword because you can't be Saejoong's kid without having a little bit of main character energy. Lol

Rose would have an Electro Bow. Rose is unwaveringly loyal, perhaps to a fault. They are always working hard to try to prove themselves, to be helpful, to be useful. I think "I'd follow you to the ends of the earth, just to see you smile" is a form of eternity in and of itself. They change and grow, but that's just part of life! They get a bow because Rose is not the main character type; they're happy to be a support, working from the sidelines.

Ariella would have a Hydro Polearm! Hydro is the element of justice, and that's the logical choice for Miss "autistic sense of justice so severe it sometimes causes her physical pain." Also she's a lawyer haha. She gets a polearm, but specifically the trident polearm with a longer middle prong, because upside-down (i.e. when she plunges) it looks like the scales of justice! Also a trident makes sense because she loves the ocean ~ Never leave her alone with the twins in an aquarium. They will never leave.

Cho Hee would have a Cryo Polearm! Beneath her glitter, sequins, and chiffon, she's quite lonely. She's never felt supported and had to suppress her existence for a long time in her stifling household. While she does her best to make others smile and to live freely now, those wounds and her trauma still linger, making it difficult for her to truly trust others. She's also VERY strong and has a black belt in taekwondo, so she gets a polearm.

Hinata would have an Anemo Bow! Hinata's dream of becoming an idol helped her escape a life she didn't want, a life chosen by her overbearing parents. She's had her ups and downs, but even at her lowest points, she never abandoned that dream. She wants to live life on her own terms, and nobody will chain her down. I think a Bow makes sense, because the cupid-esque look would bolster her angelic image 🤭 also there's a joke to be made about a Rika MC with good enough eyesight to use a bow

Aoi would have a Cryo Catalyst. Aoi is someone who is admired by many, but known by few. Being a model has earned them many fans, but nobody knows the "true" Aoi. They're very skilled at putting on masks, and he adjusts his aura and image to whatever each photoshoot requires. She is far lonelier than she lets on. "Aoi" isn't even their real name; it's a stage name. He gets a Catalyst but specifically one of those floating jewel types, because she knows what it feels like to be a "treasure" that is only adored for its luster and not for substance.

RIP to Geo and Claymores. My characters are too silly and scrawny.

I almost gave Cho Hee a claymore, but is that flashy enough? I'm still debating. Strong women make me go brrrrr

I love how cute the late chapters of the truthful route are

This is more me rambling than any form of serious post or ~anaylsis~ I'm just replaying the route and constantly sobbing over how adorable they all are

They get along so much better with each other and their partners than at the start or in the routes where bitches be dying and it is very much fun seeing them have so many positive interactions

Even their arguing is more productive barring when Takuma FIRST got back but admittedly that was MOSTLY just Kaito ksksmd like there's a lot more "think we should do this because this" "I see what you mean but also consider—" and a lot less "maybe we should—" "FUCK YOU SHUT UP YOU'RE WRONG"

Super love the scene where Ryo and Kaito are talking to Renamon and at first Takuma freaks out thinking they're gonna start a fight but then Shuuji tells him to calm down and just trust them and they end up just being like "hey what you did sucked but we're on the same side so let's work together" and Takuma is like

Like not even just the fact that those two of all people DIDN'T start shit but the fact that Shuuji wholeheartedly trusted them not to is SO insanely different from early game

Also the fact that after everything they've been through they can even still joke around with each other like there are just so many scenes where they're just being happy and silly in spite of it all

Minoru continuing to piss Ryo off by not treating him like he's older is so funny. Like they also clearly get along way better than before especially since Ryo doesn't take Minoru's dumbassery to heart anymore but that one scene where it was LITERALLY like "it's not what you said it's how you said it" had me dead jdjdnd they are such an old divorced couple. Not an old married couple. An old divorced couple.

I LOVE HOW YOU CAN PLAY TAKUMA AS THE WORST BEST FRIEND EVER AND JUST REPEATEDLY THROW MINORU UNDER THE BUS LIKE WTF MAN I THOUGHT YOU WERE RIDE OR DIE

Also love how pretty much all of them have at least one line that's just something along the lines of "we can do anything if we're together" because you KNOW none of them used to feel that way. Putting up with each other bc safety in numbers to actually genuinely trusting each other and being grateful for each other.

SUPER LOVE WHEN YOU'RE TALKING TO SHUUJI AND TRYING TO REASSURE HIM THAT HE'S NOT TOO MUCH OF A PESSIMIST AND IT'S GOOD THAT HE'S THE WAY HE IS AND IF YOU PICK THE WRONG DIALOGUE OPTION HE'LL JUST LIKE??? OPENLY ADMIT THAT HE KNOWS HE'S NOT THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB AND THAT AOI AND TAKUMA ARE MORE SUITED FOR IT BUT HE APPRECIATES THAT TAKUMA'S TRYING TO BE NICE

This is turning into a "random scenes I love" post but I love when Minoru calls Kaito weird for being happy about Miu bossing him around and Takuma telling him to knock it off because there's probably more to it than that. Also Minoru being like "dude how can you put up with this" and Kaito being like "how long do you think I've been her brother for" ksjskdn like it is so funny to think that Miu has always been a little dictator and Kaito has always just gone along with it

Also all the kemonogami are precious I mean they're precious in every route but I laughed so hard when I purposely picked a wrong dialogue option and Labramon yelled at Takuma for being stupid ToT

Falcomon and Dracmon kill me every time they're on screen. They're the funniest characters in this whole game. Again I mean they're like that in every route but I think the humor lands better in the route where there's not constant death happening.

Also also I'm sorry but them being afraid of the ghost at the school was so funny to me bc they've MET other ghosts at that point and also the other times they've thought there were ghosts it was just like...a digimon. It's like in ghost game when Kiyo is like AAAAAH GHOST and it's like bitch you KNOW it's a digimon.

Also also also Kaito lying about not being worried about Dracmon bc he doesn't wanna freak Miu or Takuma out but then after getting him back being like I WAS SO SCARED SOMETHING HAPPENED TO YOU

Also also ALSO also Ryo and Shuuji being alive so I can see all their battle lines with the other characters. And how even lines between characters change over time. I actually don't know what all the lines are and if the change is related to the chapter or to the route or to their affinity but I know for a fact that the lines aren't always the same and I am always delighted to see a new one.

ALSOx5 CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW ADORABLE THE MINASE SIBLINGS ARE FOR A SECOND? THEY ARE THE SWEETEST EVER.

Anyways these kids are the cutest friend group when their spirits are not actively being crushed by pointless deaths with no clear end in sight and it's just so nice seeing the kinda people they all are when they're not completely miserable and being pushed to/past their breaking points.

Like truthful may not be the most fun or interesting route but goddamn does it make me happy that the canon path is the one where they're actually allowed to grow and learn and be happy

Byakuya’s eyes narrowed as shifted through the drawer of clothes with one hand while the other held his son on his hip. Thin lips remained in a straight line as he continued to shuffle through Kenji’s clothes.

He only just realized it now, but it appeared every article of clothing intended for Kenji had some kind of rabbit motif on it. Whether it was the pattern of the fabric or the article of clothing containing a hood with long rabbit ears. Even the children’s towel cloak Kenji was it contained two long rabbit ears on the small hood.

He let out a frustrated sigh and grabbed a plush bunny onesie. Having to settle on something as Kenji couldn’t remain in nothing after all or he’ll catch a chill.

With his infant son bathed and changed into some clean clothes, Byakuya ventured out of his son’s nursery and to the hallways of his estate with Kenji contently still on his hip.

Byakuya made his way downstairs, where Sakura was nursing a pipping hot cup of tea and flipping through a book about a study of a type of foreign jiu-jitsu. She paused mid-sip of her tea and her gaze settled on him and Kenji as they entered the room. Her mouth shifted into a soft smile as she set her cup on the coaster and her book on the coffee table before getting up.

“Doesn’t he look adorable in that?” she gushed, taking Kenji from Byakuya and kissed their son’s forehead. “I think this is the onesie Aoi gave me at my shower,” Sakura said, giving the floppy ears on the hood a playful pat.

“About that…” he adjusted his glasses. “Must every article of clothing our son has to include some kind of rabbit motif?” Byakuya complained.

Granted, while he did give Sakura his credit card and insisted she buy whatever she wanted for their child in hopes it would make the unexpectedness of a child an easier transition on her end of things… but the constant sight of rabbits incorporated in Kenji’s wardrobe was starting to become an eyesore and Byakuya wanted to find some attire more benefitting for the son of a Togami.

Her icy blue eyes met with his sky blues. A pause hung in the air for a few short seconds but it felt like hours. Nary a word was spoken until Sakura took a moment to adjust her grip on Kenji in her arms.

“Well, Byakuya dear, I was under the impression since I was cut opened, nearly bled to death, and I’m no longer in possession of my uterus because-“ Sakura gently took Kenji’s head and pressed one ear to her chest while the other was covered by her hand. “you insisted you were fully capable of pulling out.” she reminded with a firm whisper. “That I was free to dress our son as I pleased.”

Byakuya’s eye twitched in frustration. She was never going to let that go, was she? He glanced back at Kenji, who looked just as annoyed at this predicament as he was. Seems he was doomed to spend his infancy in those god-forsaken rabbit-themed outfits for the foreseeable future.

“Fine,” he threw his hands in the air, admitting defeat. “But if our son puts you in a nursing home that is your fault.”

Summary: After weeks apart following their rescue from the outside world, Makoto and Kyoko, along with the other survivors, reunite for a first breakfast and realize just how much they have missed each other.

Kyoko’s fingers drum on the table absent-mindedly.

It’s strange to think that back in their school days, the six of them might not have gotten along. And here she is now, sitting and waiting for the last of them, heart pounding in her chest.

Byakuya, Toko, and Yasuhiro all surround her at the table as they too wait patiently. The former two are probably waiting for breakfast instead of Aoi and Makoto, but somewhere deep inside, she knows they must be elated to reunite. The group may not be perfect, and “unlikely friends” may have been an understatement, but they had come to care and depend on each other when braving the outside world. Even if they bicker and get on each other’s nerves, they know they need each other to stay sane and stay alive. Even now, they are in each other’s thoughts. Whether or not trust could be put in the Future Foundation was difficult to determine, and though the jury is still out on degrees of trust, they needed to think of each other for that, too. After all, Future Foundation has still been unable to determine how they will return their memories. Koichi Kizakura – a man she would much rather have not reunited with here – says that they are working on a way to do it “ethically”.

Unlike Junko’s manipulations, the Future Foundation technology for it is apparently much more experimental. They want to make sure that they’re doing right by the students with the methodology before forcing them through potential further trauma. She supposes she can stand by it, although she did hope that they might be able to meet again with everything in tact.

Ah, it’s just as well. She’s just happy to see everyone again at all.

She can’t wait to hear Yasuhiro’s silly nicknames for everyone, or Toko’s affectionate mumblings, or Byakyua’s quiet comments, or Aoi’s adorable giggles, or Makoto’s optimistic attitude.

Makoto…

All of them went through hell and back in the world outside of Hope’s Peak Academy, but he was undoubtedly the worst off. Even Aoi, who suffered through feverish nights and searing pain with an infected wound, did not dare compare herself to Makoto’s severe malnutrition. The poor thing had been so devoid of proper vitamins that the nurses reported fearing his teeth might fall from his gums. She had seen the petechiae speckled across his skin, sat with him through the screaming joint pain, rationed the water supply to combat his diarrhea… A bit of luck kept him from losing him completely to his condition, but the Foundation had been insistent that he needed a high degree of care upon his arrival. That is, apparently, how they decided to split them off – in twos, based off who needed the most help.

Their decision to bring them all together again is also, apparently, a good sign. At least, this is what Koichi told her when he came to fetch her and Byakuya for this breakfast. It meant that Aoi and Makoto were finally on the mend and healthy enough to move about, which meant the group was ready to reunite, if only for a few hours.

Meager time or not, gratefulness swells within the pit of Kyoko’s stomach as she waits. For their first encounter after what seems like ages apart, she knows it will feel like the first mouthful of cold water on a scorching hot day.

It's hard not to be distracted, thinking about Makoto. Conversation rumbles between the other three, but she finds her mind slipping in and out of comprehension with relative ease. Even the sweet aromas of breakfast being cooked not too far from their table, delighting her senses after two weeks of only “safe” foods, could barely hold her attention for more than a few seconds. Then, it was back to thinking about Makoto and how he was faring. In Aoi, she had always had a great deal of faith in recovery – she is a strong, healthy girl with a lot of fight in her. Makoto is much more fragile in comparison. Admittedly, she’s worried about him for about as long as they’ve been separated. She can’t quite place it, but the thought of him in pain makes her heart twist in the ugliest of ways… and the reminder that their reunion is because of his recovery makes it warm with happiness. It won’t show on her face, yet she can feel a smile threatening to shine on her lips. Every time she hears footsteps pass by, her head snaps up in excitement.

If only she had considered that the sound she should have been listening for was crutches.

She is unsure of how much time passed before that clicking registered in her ears, and before it dawned on her that this could only be a good sound. If it hadn’t been for Yasuhiro’s cheerful cry of his pet names, she might not even have looked up from the table she’d been drumming her fingers against. The moment she lifts her head to look at them, she feels almost as if she could cry… Not that she would ever do such a thing so publicly.

There, in the space just in front of their boring grey cafeteria table, stand Aoi and Makoto, looking much better than they have in an incredibly long time.

Aoi’s sun-kissed skin is now back to its full, warm splendor. Though it is bandaged, she can see that the skin that was once peeling and yellowed has now begun to repair itself, and join the rest in a celebration of health. Her long brown hair hangs loose, spilling down her back in a now tangle-free waterfall. The clothes she wears look so cozy and inviting that Kyoko almost wishes that she could don them herself – a cream coloured sweater and a pair of grey shorts, for ease of access to her recovering wound. The thing that really tips Kyoko off to her friend’s recovery, though, is her eyes. They are sparkling like there’s no tomorrow, even though the situation still is far from their ideal. All she seems to care about now is that her friends are here.

As for Makoto, well, he beams like a ray of sunshine. Like Aoi, he’s wearing the comfiest of clothes – potentially even comfier, given that he has a full sweat set. His cheeks are a cheerful, rosy pink and his face has never looked more alert. The fact that he’s as comfortable as he is standing on his own two feet is something to celebrate, and the way he’s actually double-checking that Aoi won’t fall even more so. He matches her smile as they make their way up to the table, the two of them barely able to contain the giggles that sneak past their lips.

“Hey, Asahinans, Naegicchi!” Yasuhiro calls out, “Long time no see, how ya doin’?”

Aoi lets out a loud laugh, swinging her good leg at him as she wobbles over on her crutches. “I’m still kickin’! How about you?”

“Better now that I’m seein’ everyone’s faces again!”

Fighting off a smile is damn near impossible, so she doesn’t bother. She just lets it stretch across her face; gaze glued on Makoto as he helps Aoi to the table. She doesn’t have the memories to back up such a claim, but she feels as if she has never wanted to run to him as much as she does now. If it weren’t for her typical decorum, she’d probably be bouncing around like a puppy who just received a visitor. Even with her self-control in check, she can’t help springing to her feet as the two get closer. Try as she might to keep calm, she really does just want to fling herself into Makoto’s arms. Her speed appears to say as much, for both Toko and Byakuya’s brows twist and furrow at the sight. It sends rouge burning through her cheeks. With an awkward shuffle, however, she is able to pass it off as hopping up to help Aoi.

“Oh, you’re such a sweetheart, Kirigiri-san, but you don’t have to hop up to help me,” she laughs, shaking her head, “Honestly, even having Naegi-kun doing it is a little overkill.”

Makoto’s lower lip sticks out in a bit of a pout at the words. “I don’t want to cause you any trouble, Asahina-san, I just don’t want you to fall… you’re still getting used to being on your feet again.”

“And you’re a sweetheart for that, too, but honestly, I’m totally fine! I made it all the way here, didn’t I?”

Kyoko chuckles softly, her eyes still fixed on Makoto. Even in a worried state, he looks so... Words fail to describe it. Is it warm? Comforting? Soothing? Part of her wonders if it even matters what it is. Maybe she should just be happy to have it in her life once more. “You know he can’t stop helping you, Asahina-san. It’s as natural to him as breathing.”

Makoto blushes a deep crimson, his pout deepening. For a moment, she worries that she’s actually upset him, but there’s a glimmer of cheekiness hiding behind those eyes. Seeing him with this expression sends her heart skipping a beat. She does not know why… but she thinks she likes it. “So this is the first time we see each other in two weeks, and the first thing you do is tease me?”

Aoi snickers. “Would she be your Kirigiri-san if she didn’t?”

Finally, the happiness he has been trying to hide finally wins its spot on his face. In a more hushed voice, he whispers, “It’s good to see you again, Kirigiri-san.”

“It’s wonderful to see you as well, Naegi-kun.”

Somehow… she likes the idea of being called his Kirigiri-san.

It’s difficult to say how many hours they all spend together once they settle in for breakfast. As the conversation picks up, the six of them get back into the swing of things, and it’s almost as if no time has passed between them at all. Everything melts back into being how it was – except, of course, with better health. As Aoi and Yasuhiro bicker over something stupid and Toko fawns over Byakuya, Kyoko finds herself lost in conversation once more with the boy she has so deeply missed.

It's surprising how charming he can look while shoveling food into his face so eagerly. She knows they’ve all been eating like pigs since they arrived at Future Foundation Headquarters, but Makoto in particular seems to be relishing his newfound regular breakfasts. This morning the volunteer chefs have been cooked up a Western-style meal, complete with sunny side-up eggs, smoked ham, roasted and spiced potatoes, and toast with crabapple jelly. The whole thing has the most amazing aroma, but she can’t help but notice how Makoto has two helpings of toast – he’s doing well, based on the rosiness of his cheeks, but he may still have some recovery to do yet if they are trying to get as much jelly into him as possible. It will help spike his Vitamin C back up to normal levels.

“You wouldn’t believe how great I feel right now, Kirigiri-san,” Makoto babbles enthusiastically (and partially through a mouthful of roast potatoes), “The doctors say I’ve been getting better and better by the day, and now, getting to see everyone…! I’m on top of the world.”

Even she can’t help but smile at his joy, leaning against her hand. “I so missed your enthusiasm, Naegi-kun. It’s a relief to reunite with you. You’ve been in my thoughts a lot lately.”

Swallowing a big bite of food, he nods. “You’ve been in mine, too! Aoi and I talked about you all the time… nicely, of course,” he says, his sunny disposition fading ever so slightly, “I know you’re strong, but I was still a little worried about you.”

She nods thoughtfully. “It’s only natural to worry, although I would argue that I had my hands full worrying about you as well.”

Makoto scratches at the back of his neck, chuckling awkwardly. “S-Sorry about that. I don’t mean to cause you any trouble.”

“Worrying about you is no trouble. It’s a blessing, really, to worry about someone, isn’t it?”

He blinks. “What do you mean?”

“Worrying about someone means you have something to care about. That’s special, is it not?”

Makoto nods with a grateful smile. It’s hard to place what it is, but there’s something unspoken between them as they stare into each other’s eyes. There are no words between them for but a moment, but the pause is comfortable and warm. There is no pressure to say much of anything. Instead, they simply allow each other to relish the moment of being together.

“Kirigiri-san?”

“Hm?”

Makoto places his hand on hers, eyes twinkling with sincerity. “I really missed you.”

Blushing, Kyoko confesses, “I missed you as well.”
