Tried writing a Christmas fic. It's alternate universe fluff basically. Not romance oriented.

Summary: It's the first Christmas in the bunker where the holiday is not brushed aside by some big threat, so it's no surprise that Dean goes all out. And by all out I mean a 12 foot pine tree placed into a corner of the war room. Currently half decorated, Dean tries to get Castiel to help him finish like Castiel said he would. The only problem is Dean can't seem to find the angel.

Now, I don't expect ao3 to disappear or go anywhere without a fight, but it's best to be on the safe side these days.

To download your favorite fics:

Go to archiveofourown.org and open the fic you want to download.

At the top right corner, to the right of the 'subscribe' button, is a button that says 'download'. Click it.

A drop-down menu will give you the option to choose the format of your download. Choose your preferred format (.epub and .pdf are my personal favorites -- .epub lets you open a fic in the apple books app and .pdf is compatible with like every device and program out there).

When you click the button for your preferred format, a pop-up window appears confirming your choices. The title of the document will default to the title of the fic, so be aware of that and consider changing conspicuous titles to something ignorable, especially if you share the computer.

You're done! Now do this with all your favorite fics!

I know this isn't normal for me, but I decided that it's stupid enough that I should probably share it here after I posted it.

I got inspired by the "I like my Coffee" episode of Dropout. I write notes about the episodes I watch and share it with my friend who has already seen them. My plan yesterday was to work on Chapter 7 of The Smoking Halo, which was why I opened Google docs in the first place. I saw the document, which I fittingly called, "I like my coffee" and I thought that I'd have to change it because it sounded too much like a fic title than an episode commentary. That was my first problem. My second problem was actually coming up with a fic.

So, here's what it is. I've never posted a fic in an alone post on here before so things might not be said right or tagged right or could be missing completely. My apologies if it is. I'm new at this

EDIT: How do we show appreciation to the volunteers? For me reading these deep dives on OTW issues u guys apparently it's been said multiple times that one of their objective statements is to have paid staff for ao3 and there's a surplus of donations they haven't used up or the other community solutions that needs to address. For those more financially literate feel free to analyze, snipe me or add to the discussion etc. linked here by deepa. They’re cool and these yearly analysis they did aint no joke.

99% of what I read is angst but you know what my secret favorite fanfiction category is? Outsider POV. I love a good fic where we’re in the perspective of characters who have no idea what the fuck is going on and are stuck watching our MCs be absolutely ridiculous. I love every version of this trope. It could be mostly text based. It could be mostly social media based. As long as it checks the boxes? I’m all in. You don’t understand. I think the first one of these I read was with Sam and Dean Winchester as kids in school from the perspective of a guidance counselor. I have been ruined. I have read every fic I could find with the premise of SkyGem’s Retirement AU (Yuri On Ice). I read White Collar DC crossover fanfiction despite not knowing or caring about White Collar because I treat it like outsider POV fanfictions with a fun identity reveal element. My favorite My Hero Academia fanfiction of all time is entirely made up of social media bit and bobs (tumblr posts, twitter posts, text message chains, etc). I am currently reading a Carmen Sandiego fic like this and it is such a crack fic. It is so unserious. I can’t put it down. I am so hooked.
