We will adapt, his father said. Adaptation is inevitable, it's not like we have a choice. Adaptation had multiple meanings, and the Sully siblings defined it in their own way. For Kiri, adaptation required finding an inner peace that would make day-to-day tasks much easier. As for Tuk, it meant leaving everything she used to know behind and learning anew how to function among the other clan. In Lo'ak's case, the process was about discovering his inner self - knowing your fears was the path to becoming one with the water. Accordingly, for Neteyam adaptation meant being obedient and following his parents' orders. As the oldest, he knew that getting into trouble was the last thing they needed right now; he would again be punished by his father and grounded, for life this time, there was no doubt.
Despite not being a part of Neytiri's family, you became close to her as her friends' daughter, and Neyam was delighted that his parents had taken you along with them - after your parents died in yet another battle against RDA, Jake Sully's wife decided to care for their daughter. You became his best friend after many years spent together, and the fact that you were female didn't change anything - the eldest son of Jake and Neytiri was treating you like the best buddy, hanging out with you as much as possible. Despite moving to a brand-new location because of Quaritch and his buddies, Neteyam still preferred to spend time with you, diligently learning new things from Metkayina.

As you sat on a large rock, frowning, you tried your finest to weave nets. As you tapped your tail angrily against the hard surface, your fingers continued to work on your latest yet unsuccessful attempt; at least this was slightly better than the previous one. As each second passed, you grew more and more annoyed.
Little did you know that Ao'nung and his friends were observing you from a distance. Following a brief exchange of glances with his friends, he approached you. Even though he wasn't a big fan of the Sully family, you seemed so different from them, which made you more appealing. In addition, you had four fingers, so you weren't as strange as those Sullys' demon kids. "Y/N, right? I see you're struggling with weaving," he smiled at you and offered, "Why don't you join my friends and me in the water instead?"
You looked at your messed up work and then at him; maybe continuing wasn't necessary at the moment - your fingers hurt and you were getting frustrated, so you decided a small break was needed. Also, that could be very interesting. You smiled back and nodded, "I'd love to." Rotxo nodded his head in agreement as Ao'nung looked at him. "Let's go, it would be a shame to waste such a beautiful day weaving," Ao'nung encouraged you to leave your work behind.
Tuk, the youngest Sully, saw the entire situation and then decided to inform her older brother about what she had seen.
One last look at your nets convinced you that there was no point in trying. Your curiosity led you to follow Ao'nung after leaving your work behind.
"So, how do you like it here?" Ao'nung asked, glancing at you with a certain amount of curiosity.
"It's completely different," you replied, your tail flicking from side to side. "There's a lot of water. It's a little unusual for me."
Rotxo laughed a bit at your words. "You tree people can only cling to your lianas, right?"
Ao'nung glanced coldly at Rotxo, conveying his anger towards him. Tonowari's son told you, "Forgive my friend, he's a little crude. Have you already interacted with ilu?" He asked, trying to change the topic.
Your arms crossed over your chest as you hissed offendedly, "Well, he isn't really funny. Well, we can do a lot more than that. And about your question, I'm sorry but I'm not even sure what ilu is," you admitted a bit embarrassed.
Another Ao'nung's friend commented, "She doesn't even know what ilu is, that's ridiculous," but was instantly hit in the back of the head by Tonowari's son.
"An ilu is intelligent, sociable, and easily domesticated animal serves the reef clans, including our clan, as direhorses serve the Na'vi clans of the forests and jungles," Ao'nung explained softly, looking at you. "Do you feel afraid?"
Your interest was piqued by the description of the animal. With your tail moving equally eagerly, you enthusiastically shook your head. "Me? Afraid? No! That sounds fascinating! I'd love to see it." Ao'nung slowly stepped into the water until it reached his muscular calves, then he turned his head to see if you were following. As soon as he was sure you were right behind him, he offered you his hand.
Smiling softly, you took his hand and followed him into the water. Compared to what you were doing moments ago, this was much better, you thought to yourself. The two of you were watched from a distance by Ao'nung's friends, who stayed on the shore. They had no idea that they weren't the only ones watching...
The sound Ao'nung made was like whistling after he clicked his tongue several times. A loud chirping ilu emerged from the water shortly afterward.
"It's loud!" you giggled, feeling even more captivated by the creature. "Are you sure I or you won't be eaten by it?"
"Ilu? Don't worry, they won't bite if they're not bothered. Come, pet it slowly," he advised.
As you nodded slowly, you drew a little closer and gently petted the animal.
Ilu turned his head to you and chirped loudly in anticipation, blinking both pairs of its eyes. A gentle, inviting touch was evidently enjoyed by the animal, whose skin was soft to the touch.
In response to your very first interaction with the ilu, Ao'nung smiled. "You see? No biting."
A giggle escaped your lips, and you nodded in agreement. "I really like how soft and cute it is, and there is no biting at all. I didn’t know they’re so friendly!”
After seeing a small wave coming, he took a step closer to you and put his hand on your waist, supporting you from falling to your back due to the strong drift. "I told you it was worth trying."
"It would be appreciated if the waves were not so strong," you joked and politely thanked him for the support he provided. "In fact, it was well worth trying. This creature is so sweet and soft. If I weren't scared, I'd cuddle it."
"There's nothing stopping you from doing so," he said as his hand stayed on your waist. "First, I would suggest creating a bond, it's safer that way."
Meanwhile, Neteyam joined Ao'nung's friends on the shore. Watching you cooperate with the ilu while sitting under the warm sun was a cute way to spend his spare time. Everything would have been perfect if Ao'nung hadn't been doing everything he could to get closer to you. In the end, Neteyam let out a deep sigh - it seemed you were more interested in Metkayina lately, and he was helpless about it; his only concern was your widely understood happiness.
Your eyes widened when you noticed Neteyam with the corner of your eye. You hummed, pretending to think about Ao'nung's offer. This could make things even more interesting. Immediately, you became more flirtatious with Ao'nung. "Are you really bringing me here just to show me the ilu?"
A cheerful smile was given to you by Tonowari's son, who also petted ilu's head. "Why are you asking, Y/N? I was simply trying to relieve you of the unneeded job you were assigned."
With a soft smile, you teased, "Oh, I'm sorry. I was hoping for more from you, but apparently I was mistaken..."
With a bold move, he touched your shoulder with his palm as he asked, "More like? You know how much I value your friendship more than Sullys', so I'm willing to lend a helping hand whenever I can."
"Friendship may always evolve into something more," you shrugged, still petting the ilu's head.
While chirping loudly, ilu poked you in the side with its velvety muzzle. "We could always give it a chance, Y/N. What do you think?" Ao'nung asked as his hand climbed up your shoulder and landed in your crook of the neck.
"Maybe?" You purred as if you were considering it. Of course, you didn't care about any of this, all you cared about was Neteyam's reaction. Although you felt disappointed with the lack of response so far, you decided to keep trying and maybe coax it out of him.
You were so skilled at pretending that Ao'nung leaned forward, closed his eyes, and attempted to kiss you.
It was enough for Neteyam. When he got up to his feet, he got as close to the water as possible without getting in. Neteyam shouted, "What the hell are you doing, Ao'nung?"
Gasping, you took two small steps away from Ao'nung before looking at Neteyam. Oh, he was angry! "Neteyam, what's wrong?" You asked innocently, tilting your head to the side.
The grunt grew louder as Ao'nung opened his eyes and stared at Neteyam as well. "What's your problem, bro?"
"You're acting a bit too brazen, bro, and that's my problem. Leave Y/N alone," Neteyam said after issuing a warning; his eyes were then fixed on you. "Come on, Y/N, I think you still need to finish some things."
Your lips were softly curled into a smile as you whispered, "Yes, I believe I do."
Ao'nung was the first to exit the water, leaving ilu behind. "Well, well, well, look at that, Sully's into our sweet, little Y/N," he mocked, rolling his eyes.
Once you had given the ilu one last pet, you followed Ao'nung towards the shore, thinking how the situation would unfold.
Once Ao'nung got onto the shore, he pushed Neteyam's shoulder strongly with wry words followed by a snort, "Shall I remind you about your position here, Sully? You better be on your best behaviour, as your father suggested."
A frown could be seen on Neteyam's face, but he tried hard to maintain his composure. "Y/N, let's go."
"What's your problem, Net? We didn't do anything wrong, he was just showing me what ilu is."
Tuk, who was partially hidden behind Neteyam's legs, peered out and frowned at you. "We've been here for a while, and you still don't know anything about ilu? Eywa, please hold me tight, I can't deal with Y/N."
Neteyam ruffled his sister's hair and stared at you before saying, "I heard Ronal asked you to help with nets, and you heard what my parents said about us being guests here? We need to adapt and do whatever it takes to avoid being considered useless."
Putting yourself behind Ao'nung, you frowned. "I try to be useful, but making nets is boring and not meant for me? This just seems more fun."
Tuk stuck her tongue out at you, her glance full of concern. "Mom won't be happy."
"Hush," Neteyam whispered to Tuktirey while looking at Ao'nung. "As the chief's son, you should be more reasonable and help Y/N with the tasks she's assigned to."
Your head rested on Ao'nung's shoulder as you gazed at Neteyam. You teased, "Is it your only concern? Or are you simply jealous?"
Neteyam had already had enough of your behaviour - he thought he had shown you many times that you were more valuable to him, yet you seemed more interested in that thick piece of a man, called Ao'nung. "Maybe."
Ao'nung smiled even wider as you patted his shoulder before walking up to Neteyam to take his hand. "Maybe? Just maybe?"
From nowhere, the argument grew into a tornado. The intensity of Neteyam's rage blinded him to your heart and soul. His hand snatched back from your grasp as he snapped at you, "Don't. It seems that Ao'nung has nothing but hots for you, and since you seem to be more than interested, we won't bother you anymore in spending your time with our host. Tuk, come."
The little girl followed her brother enthusiastically, but of course she couldn't help but glance back at you, laying her ears and hissing, showing her perfect, sharp fangs.
It didn't work out as you thought it would; you laid your ears down and hissed back at her, crossing your arms over your chest. A deep sigh was heard from you as you excused yourselves and followed them quickly.
The fact that you followed Sullys was mocked by Ao'nung. "Come on, Y/N! We still might have some fun!”
"Apparently Y/N is more into the eldest of the Sully brothers," Rotxo replied to his friend, and Tonowari's son punched him hard in the side, giving him the coldest look he has ever given to anyone as a warning.
"Neteyam! Tuk! Wait for me!” You shouted after them, attempting to line up with the siblings.
Meanwhile, Neteyam sat on the rock where you had left your unfinished nets.
Since she was angry that you were playing with her beloved brother in such a cruel way, Tuk ignored you perfectly.
After softly sighing, you decided to sit right next to him. "Neteyam... Talk to me. I am sorry for angering you so much."
He answered, "I'm not furious," and continued to work on the weave with his long fingers.
While playing with the sand, Tuk giggled, "He's not angry, he's mad."
"Could you play somewhere else? I want to talk to him alone," you hissed at her.
Tuk stood up and placed her hands on her hips. "Don't order me, you're not my mother."
With a sigh, Neteyam told his younger sister to return to their hut and assist Kiri and mother with whatever they were doing.
The young girl complied with her brother's instructions while grunting loudly in annoyance.
You looked at him and sighed, "At least she listens to you. So, will you talk to me?”
"About?"
Then you moved closer to help him weave the net and whispered quietly, "About what happened. I didn't mean to anger you. I'm sorry for leaving my job. It just seemed like a nice offer and I was super flustered."
Without even glancing at you, he asked bitterly, "The offer or Ao'nung?"
Chuckling, you gently pinched his finger and continued to work. "The offer, as I mentioned earlier."
"Yeah. I bet."
"Neteyam," you said, taking his hand in your palm, "Why did you get so angry about me hanging out with him?"
"Hanging out with him, that's the clue," he said angrily, pulling his hand out of your grasp, weaving angry until his fingertips began to hurt - only then Neteyam threw the net away and after letting out a deep sigh, he massaged his temples. "Is he that interesting? Apparently, you were the one who said reef people were strange and unappealing."
"It wasn't because of him, but because I wanted to see an ilu," you explained, rolling your eyes. "There was a chance it would eat him rather than me in the event of an accident."
Neteyam was trying so hard to keep a straight face, but your comment made him giggle. "If only ilus could be as vicious as akulas, Ao'nung's issue might have been resolved long ago."
A smile spread across your face as you raised an eyebrow at him and asked, "You'd like that, huh?"
Prior to replying, Neteyam improved his necklace and waved his tail. "Maybe."
Your tail wiggled happily as you placed your chin on his shoulder with a mischievous smile. "I'm sure you would love that, hm? You wouldn't have to worry about someone stealing me from you."
"It's not like that, Y/N. We're just friends, you and I."
"Well..." you sighed deeply, "I'm disappointed to hear that, because I really wanted something more."
You were given a serious look as he asked, "Just like with Ao'nung, huh?"
As you gasped, you smacked his back with your tail. "I tried to get your attention by making you jealous. Is that what you wanted to hear?"
He grinned widely as he asked, "So you tried to make me jealous? Well, it appears you are interested in me, and I am flattered by that."
You whined, "Yes! I'm interested in you, but you're only paying attention to me in a friendly manner."
"And how do you know that, smartass?"
Blinking, you shrugged lightly. "That's how I felt."
"Then you must be blind."
You turned away and crossed your arms over your chest, pretending to be offended. "I'm not, it's just that your signs weren't clear enough."
In this case, Neteyam rested his chin against the crook of your neck, looking at you from your profile. "How many times did I accidentally catch your hand? How many times did I say there was no one but you? How many times did I skip my duties just to spend time by your side?"
You leaned against him, "I just thought it was because I was an orphan who your mother had taken care of and you took care of me because this was what your parents expected you to do."
With you by his side, Neteyam was able to relax his nerves as he closed his eyes, enjoying the warmth of the sun kissing his skin. "How wrong you were, Y/N."
"Now I know. What should we do about it?"
"Have you thought of anything in particular?"
Shrugging, you replied, "No. How about you?"
"My guess is that it's the part when you kiss her, Neteyam," tiny tone suggested. Nobody else but Tuk observed the entire situation while hiding among nearby bushes.
While eldest Sully facepalmed for not expecting his little sister to spy on him, he knew deep down she was right. In barely a second, he placed a hand on your cheek and rubbed you there with his thumb, before leaning forward to rub his nose against yours and briefly kiss your lips.
Wrapping your arms around his neck, you giggled quietly and kissed him back. The happiness made your tail move like crazy.
A small Omaticaya girl shook her head and kept quiet during the scene.
As your taste spilled over Neteyam's tongue, he murmured in pleasure.
With a mischievous smile, you pulled away and rubbed your noses together. "It was worth it to piss you off."
"Prove it."
"I love you, not Ao'nung," you rolled your eyes and kissed him once more.
Tuk's tone was filled with happiness as she chanted, "I feel love in the air! Y/N and Neteyam, Neteyam and Y/N! Nanana! Love is oh so in the air!"
When Neteyam returned the kiss, he felt all his angst and anger disappear quickly, having been eased by your words and feeling that they came from the depths of your heart.
After letting him kiss you for a moment, you pulled away when you needed to breathe deeply. "Is this proof enough for you, my love?"
"Yes."
"What did our little spy think of what she saw?" You asked Tuk loudly.
With a stick she found in the bushes, Tuk emerged from her hiding spot and approached the two of you. "It was pretty cute, but still eww, just like mom kissing dad. Just remember I will keep a close eye on you, Y/N, and I won't hesitate to inform Neteyam if I see you hanging out with those beefy, turquoise fellas again," she warned, getting on her brother's lap. "And now tell me: will you two eventually tie the knot?"
You rolled your eyes and ruffled her hair. "One day, maybe, when we decide we want to be together forever."
"Tuk, please," Neteyam poked Tuktirey's shoulder. "Little one, that is none of your business."
"What? I have to be ready," Tuk looked at you while shrugging her shoulders. "I believe you'd make a stunning bride! I could look after your future kids! I would play with them!"
"TUK!" Neteyam paled a little, pulling on his sister's braid. "That’s enough."
A smug smile appeared on your face. "I would like to have kids, so long as they aren't like their future aunt."
Neteyam laughed, shoving Tuk off his lap and returning to weaving. "Please, don't encourage her, Y/N."
Tuk initially nodded joyfully in response to your comments, but when she realised what you were saying, she crossed her arms over her chest, which, unfortunately, was the same moment she slipped from Neteyam's lap. She snarled at you while sitting on her butt in the sand. "I'll keep it in mind, Y/N, and I'll tell mom!"
Laughing, you took Neteyam's hand. "I guess we'll see about that. Right?"
As he stroked your palm, he smiled at you brightly. "Yes. The feelings I have for you are something I am looking forward to discovering and exploring."

Ao’nung: So, are you two dating now?
Neteyam & Y/n: Yes.
Ao’nung: Why?
Neteyam: I happen to find Y/n very appealing.
Ao’nung: Yeah, I can understand that. I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong with Y/n.

“Look at this, what is she doing?” you hear, followed by laughter and scoffing. “She’s just staring at the sand!” This made you stop in your tracks and poke your head outside of the Marui.
Immediately, your eyes zero in on Ao’nung and his friends, pointing and making faces at the Omaticaya, Kiri, you believe it was.
Her head lifted out of the water and she pushed her hair out of her face, “Huh? What’d you say?” she asked, smile dawned upon her face.
“I said,” Ao’nung grinned, looking over his shoulders at his friends before continuing, “are you some kind of freak?” he made a gesture with his hands. The kind smile faded from her face and she stood, avoiding eye contact.
“No…” she mumbled, attempting to walk away before Ao’nung scurried after her, “Are you sure? I mean, you’re not even real Na’vi! Look at these hands, look!” he reached for Kiri’s hand before she snatched it away.
To no avail, Ao’nung just sprung his hand out once more and grabbed hers.
She was visibly uncomfortable as the group of boys continued to make jokes and blatantly disrespect her. You decided you had enough and rushed out of the Marui to step in.
You grit your teeth and mustered up all the strength you had to push Ao’nung away from her. He whipped his head around in astonishment, face immediately dropping when his eyes met yours.
“Kehe, pxiset.” you spat venomously in your native tongue, staring at the Na’vi in front of you with disgust. “What’s wrong with you? Huh?” you continued to shout in his face, “Acting like a fool, treating this innocent girl like this! What’s wrong with you all?!”
You slowly turned to look at the two others, both of them looking to the ground with shame. Laughing in disbelief you turned back to Ao’nung, bile rising in your throat. “Now it’s not very funny right?”
Two more Omaticaya could be seen approaching, Neteyam and Lo’ak, the brothers of Kiri.
“What’s going on?” Neteyam asked tranquilly, eyes looking along the line of embarrassed individuals. You grabbed Neteyams shoulder gently and brought him closer, grabbing his hand as well as Ao’nungs. You raised both hands in comparison.
He shot you a look of confusion, albeit complying against your moves.
You send him a fleeting apologetic look in response.
“Look at this! He’s no different than you are! None of us are,” you seethed dropping both hands. “You should be embarrassed. All of you. Nì’eveng.” and with that, you departed from the group, dragging Kiri and her brothers with you and anger threading through every part of you.
Halting your movements once you were far enough, you turned to face them fully and placed your hand on top of hers. She smiled softly and took your other hand into hers.
“Im really thankful for what you did back there,” she whispered, head low with embarrassment. “Oh, it was no big deal. Never let them treat you like that and get away with it, okay?” you squeezed her hands reassuringly.
Moving in for a hug, she invited you to join her and her family. You accepted and followed her and the others to their Marui to get the youngest one, Tuk, you were told her name was.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“He cares about me and I care about him. A lot. I really hate it but I—” Kiri’s face was scrunched up with playful disgust as you told her about your feelings for Ao’nung.
You were too busy pouring your heart out to notice, but when you finally did, you gasped in mock offense and splashed water in her face. She laughed and did the same, causing a water fight to break out.
“You call yourself Metkayina yet an outsider holds her breath underwater longer than you do?” Kiri shouts, throwing more water into your face. “Thats not even fair, you grabbed me unexpectedly! I thought I was going to die!” you fire back, sending a huge wave onto her, almost knocking her down.
While you were playing around with Kiri, you failed the realize the set of eyes that watched and never left your form.
Ao’nung watched from afar, seated on the sand and admiring every aspect of you. Knowing that he angered you sent an unfamiliar feeling to the pit of his stomach, there was nothing he wanted more than your forgiveness.
Although you were flushed and out of breath, you were determined to win whatever this was, but Kiri soon called it a night afterwards, deeming you a winner.
You let out a victorious cry and Kiri rolled her eyes, mumbling something along the lines of ‘I’ll get you next time,’ as she treaded out of the water, but you were too busy basking in the win to notice.
You started to leave the water, ringing your hair out when you noticed a figure moving in the darkness.
As it moved closer, you realized it wasn’t much of an it, rather, a someone.
You glared at him as he moved closer. It was clear that he was headed towards you, given there was no one else around this late at night.
Nonetheless you ignored him and continued to walk away unbothered.
Ao’nung sped up and grabbed your hand, halting your movements completely. You turned, but refused to look at him.
It was crushing him.
His hands moved to either side of your face, pleading for you to meet his eyes, even for just a second.
“Look at me,” he whispered. “Please.”
You wanted to push him away, to scream at him, to tell him off, but you just couldn’t. Before you could stop it, you already found yourself meeting his eyes.
“I’m sorry,” he said, hands dropping to your waist and pulling you in, “I’m sorry. I know it was wrong.” you hands found their way to his arms and you squeezed gently, disappointment etched onto your features.
“You should not treat them like that. This needs to stop.”
“It will. Promise.”
“You will apologize to all of them, yes? Rotxo and the other one, too.”
“Of course we will. As soon as the sun rises.” he searched your eyes deeply, making sure you knew he meant it with utmost sincerity. A soft smile played on your lips and his eyes dropped to them almost instantly, tongue unconsciously darting out to wet his own.
Your smile dropped in realization and your heart steadily began to beat faster. He leaned in closer inch by inch until the both of your lips were a hairs breadth apart.
“Can I?” he whispered, forehead pressed against yours. You nodded and he wasted no time.
He cupped your jaw with one hand and his lips connected with yours, kissing you slow and passionate. His thumb trailed languid circles onto your waist, lips leaving their place on yours for a quick moment to admire you before finding their place again, leaving you breathless each and every time.
The two of you remained like that, in contented silence, until it was agreed that staying out any later would get the both of you in trouble.
Standing in tandem, you pulled him back by the wrist and didn’t let him leave until you said what had been on your mind for countless months.
Locking eyes with Ao’nung, you hesitated before speaking.
He leaned forward, encouraging you.
“I…” you inhaled, “I see you. Ao’nung.”
His eyes widened a fraction, a grin pulling at his lips as he clocked your words.
“I know.” he stated simply and shrugged. You stared blankly, lips parting as emotions run through you. “Oh, I heard everything you told Kiri…” Ao’nung stepped closer, sucking any air you had left right out of your lungs.
“You care about me. A lot, if I remember correct—” you didn’t let him finish his sentence before punching him.
He laughed and pulled you in by the thigh, whispering “I see you” many times into your ear and kissing you until your hearts content.

Rules
Neteyam wasn’t one to easily get jealous but when he did, he had many ways of showing it he was quick to show others and remind you that you belonged to him
He never lets it get to far-
When he saw you getting too close to another man for his liking He’d get one of his siblings to come and interrupt you. Sometimes it was Kiri asking you for help gathering herbs for Mo’at. Most of the time it was Tuk asking you to play or do her hair and it worked every time he knew you had a soft spot for his youngest sister. the best part is he never appears jealous because it ‘s not his fault his sisters just love you that much.
He’ll love bom you the moment your alone -
He’ll focus all of his attention on you the moment you’re alone together after one of these incidents. The moment you’re in your hut he’ll close the flap and immediately kissing along your neck. Kissing your throat dragging his hands along your sides.sneaking his hands under your top rubbing you tits squeezing them. You moan out his name “ teyam! …what’s gotten into you ma Teyam “ you asked him.
He’ll leave you full of marks where others can see-
He ignores you, picking you up and taking you to your guy's bed. He immediately start undressing you. Starting from top to bottom kissing along your body leaving bit marks along your neck and slowly moving down to your thighs all over the places your loincloth doesn’t cover.
He likes to remind you who you belong to-
After marking you he likes to remind you who you belong to. He pushes you onto the bed kneeling between your parted legs wasting no time and pushing his fingers into you . Dragging another moan from you . He’ll continue until he’s made you come at least once from his fingers alone. And that’s only the start neither of you get much sleep that night. You breathe heavily this was the 4th time you came and Neteyam didn’t seem to be done with you just yet.” Nete i can’t no more “ you pant out. He smirked “ no ? “ he asked you starting to pump himself into you again “ you can’t give your mighty warrior just one more “ he kisses your neck and moves down to your chest sucking your nipple. He picks up his speed, your legs shake . It’s not long before your coming again. “ who do you belong to syulang “ Neteyam asks you. You feel you stomach knotting again you cry out his name “ Neteyam “ well coming again. He smiled pressing against you , giving you a kiss thrusting deeply one last time finishing inside you. “ that’s right syulang you belong to me “ he whispered in you ear pulling away from you. He reaches over grabbing a cloth cleaning both of you. before letting you rest pulling you closer to him cuddling you close to him.
Lingering stares and sensual touches when they are in a group-
this continues for the next few days him pulling you aside anytime he sees you giving you short sweet kisses. Wrapping his arm around you well around others whether it’s his family or your friends. He’ll find himself watching you more during training or when he sees you around, like at the very moment you were helping his mother cook dinner in the Suli family hut he was meant to be helping make arrow heads but was distracted by you. He felt a hand on his head forcing him to look back at his task, he looked up to see his father giving him a look. He quickly turned around and went back to work.
Later that night well you hung out with his siblings and Spider around a late night fire. he took the chance and moved you into his lap kissing you on the cheek. Making you blush, he looked at you smirking. Lo’ak throw a cup at his brother “ bro! Get a room!” Neteyam looked over at him unimpressed “ you know what little brother you’re right see you losers later “ he didn’t give you a chance to react picking you up and walking off towards your hut

PERFECT
Lo’ak x Metkayina!Reader
Summary: When a slight mishap separated them apart, they find the time to see each other, even in the form of a secret. Warnings: Mentions of Na’vi/Alien racism, Brief mention of mating, Brief anxiety Word count: 1.9k
A/N: This is part 2 of ‘just the start’!
Tumblr media
Her parents where not pleased. Neither was ___. How could her own brother snitch on her? To her parents?? To her mother??!!
She hates the sky people, rightfully, but she also hates the fact the Sully’s have demon blood. Just because some of them have five fingers does not make them any different, she is royally pissed at her Tsahìk. Although the extra finger is strange, Lo’ak says it is called a..’pinky’
That is besides the point.
She is banned from ilu riding for a week. And swimming. ‘I am a Metkayina, a Na’vi of the reef and she says I cannot swim?! That is like taking a fish out of water’. Currently ___ was sat wallowing in self pity, but she does not regret what she did that day. Meeting Lo’ak and going to the cove…
She blushed at the thought, they were so close together, and when he tucked the flower in her hair. She squealed and kicked her feet into the air, falling on her back. But as she did her brother came into their home. Turning around she chooses to ignore him.
Again.
‘’Please ___. You know I did not mean to tell them’’
‘’You did’’
‘’Ok I did. But I had too, you two were too close, the look in your eyes..WERE YOU ABOUT TO MATE?’’
‘’AO’NUNG’’ ___ threw a basket at his head but unfortunately Eywa was not on his side as he caught it with ease. ‘’I hate you for telling them. You know what they think of these people, especially mother’’
‘’I apologise again little sister. But I was looking out for you..it’s just.. seeing you both together, I hated it. If he ever hurt you I will hunt him down I hope you know that’’ her brother looked her in the eyes with a look so serious she couldn’t help but nod, but she saw vulnerability in those blue orbs. It was something she rarely saw. So ___ stood up and walked up to him, holding his hands.
‘’Brother I understand. I see you. But I like Lo’ak. He is different, I know you and your friends have been hard on him and Kiri, please, you must stop. For the sake of peace and for me’’ she squeezed his hands, speaking quietly but firm, she had to get the message through that she was serious.
‘’Ok. For you I will…and also for Rotxo, have you seen the way he looks at the Omaticaya girl?’’ He grinned, ___ chucked loudly and gave Ao’nung a hug before he was called out by one of his friends who wanted to go hunt outside the reef.
___ wished him the best and made a silent prayer to Eywa to keep them safe, the outside hasn’t been safe as of late.
So there she sat, alone and bored again. She only had three more days of this but to her it’s forever, there’s only so much she could do in there marui. She’s already sang her song cord over a hundred times, she’s made five more chest pieces for herself and braided and re-braided the top of her hair, it is important for her people to keep the hair out of their eyes when swimming. But she has added beautiful shells and pearls to the braids, and made sure they were weaved into the locks that flowed down her back.
Suddenly a ‘’psst’’ could be heard from the entrance, at first she thought it was the wind but when it was persistent and annoying she swivelled her head around and found Tuk with her head peaking around the corner. ‘’___ I have a message from Lo’ak!!’’ She waisted no time.
‘’Tuk? What is it?’’ The Metkayina was eager to hear what she had to say, she knew the boy was ‘grounded’ (Earth term he says) too by his father. Apparently Jake said ‘’no girls until you’re old and mature. You cant even look after your sister let alone a woman’’ it definitely bruised his ego.
‘’Lo’ak says to meet him at the far end of the beach at eclipse tonight’’ the child whisper yelled and ran off before she was spotted or heard by anyone nearby, all she could hear was the bouncing of the walkways as she went.
‘Sneak out..and meet him? At eclipse?’ ___ was contemplating, she has never snuck out before, never really having the need to and growing up it is tradition for children and parents to sleep together before they become adults. So it would have definitely been hard. But she would do it, it has felt like years have passed before she has seen them.
So there she sat making a plan in her head while going through the many outfits she has made for the past two days while thinking about how she was going to sneak herself out of their marui.
Tumblr media
It was just past eclipse and the Metkayina decide to rest for tomorrow, the children are put to sleep and her parents just got into their hammock for the night. Her sister and brother where snoozing in their own and ___ thinks it’s the perfect time to leave. She quietly steps out of her sleeping space and throws on her nicest chest piece and tweng then slowly walked out and through the walkways until she came across the far beach, like Tuk said.
But no one was there.
She decided to sit by the water and admire the view of her home while waiting for her companion. But as the minutes ticked by no one came to meet her. Was she in the wrong place? Did Tuk give her the right information or did she just not hear her correctly?
Her ears turned down slowly as more time went by, she felt silly. She felt dejected. Why isn’t he here, was this a prank? Maybe they were just not meant to be after all. She even got her best outfit on for nothing. Her eyes watered as terrible thoughts filled her head.
But leaves rustling caught her attention and a certain Na’vi jumped out and panted, having ran a little over here ‘’I am sorry, Tuk was hard to put to sleep and mother was getting- ___? Are you ok?’’ He immediately walked over to where she was stood and wiped her eyes with his thumb ‘’why are you crying paysyul?’’
Her heart beat at the nickname, water lily, ‘’I thought you’d never come..’’ she sniffed, holding his hands that were cupping her face and looking up at him with wide eyes.
His breath hitched, in this light, with the glow of the island, it looked like the time they were swimming to the cave. Where the bioluminescence of the plants and creatures made her look like a dream. The way the pearls shon in her hair was alien, a good alien, Norm said it was extraterritorial or whatever the word was. Lo’ak didn’t care to listen. But she looked kissable… ‘later Lo’ak, later’
‘’I would never, ever, do that to you’’ he bent to place his forehead on hers and breathed in, trying to gain his confidence ‘’I wish to take you flying’’
___ blinked and pulled back a little, trying to not notice the slight hurt in his eyes as she did ‘’flying? But I am Metkayina, we do not fly’’
‘’And I am Omaticaya, we do not swim’’ ok valid point. But she has never flown before, shes only been on her father tsurak a few times with him growing up and even end the creature doesn’t go high enough to fly like a banshee. But she trusted Lo’ak, a lot. So she moved her hands down to his arms and squeezed them.
‘’Ok, let us fly..’’ he grinned and interlaced their fingers, pulling her nervous figure along the sand and doing a call with his mouth. It was bird like, and slightly higher pitched than his normal voice. The trees in the forest moved and out flew from the top was a beautiful, blue ikran. The iridescent skin glowed a purple and white, the freckles on its skin running down the nerve system in intricate patterns. It flew around the waters and landed on the sand, it looked a lot more intimidating from up close..
‘’Are you sure it wont hurt us…’’
‘’My ikran wont hurt anyone I do not want them too, have faith in me paysyul’’ and he dragged her closer, patting the ikran’s head and jumping up on their back, connecting the bond. He held out his hand and smiled, encouraging her to get on. She slowly took it and leaped to sit behind him, her feet resting on the creatures back. ‘’Make sure to hold on, we don’t want you to fall off’’ he turned and winked commanding the banshee to fly, making sure it was a quite as possible as to not disturb the clan. If they were in the mountains they could’ve had a bit more freedom…oh well this’ll do for now.
___ clung to his back and inhaled sharply as she felt the wind pick up ‘’just a make sure we will be above the water’’ Lo’ak made a noise of amusement and reached around to stroke her leg, coaxing her into calmness.
‘’open your eyes, you are missing the best view ever!’’
And then she did, and gasped at the view that surrounded her. Sure her home looked beautiful in the sea, above the sea, around the sea…you get the idea. But when they were way above, in the sky, it was perfect. The wind rushed through her hair as she laughed, slightly making her grip looser on the boy ‘’this is gorgeous Lo’ak’’ she turned to look all around her, taking in the sights.
‘’Yea it is..’’ he stared at her then turned to face around, speeding them up a little and going past the three brothers, taking them closer to the water and tipping his ikran, the wing skimming the sea and creating a blue path where it glided.
___ outstretched her arm and did the same, squealing as they rolled upside down. Her eyes adjusted after the tumble and she looked down, seeing a familiar tree. ‘’We are at the spirit tree?’’
‘’Yes, I thought it would look good from up here. But not as good as the one in the forest’’ he grinned in jest and ___ only rolled her eyes.
‘’You must take me there on day, to her home’’ Lo’ak promised and flew his ikran to land in the water, unlinking the bond and grabbing his partners hips to pull her down. There they floated above the metkayina’s tree of souls, as if anything can be more romantic. ‘’Lo’ak..thank you for tonight’’ ___ grinned and blinked shyly ‘’..my tsawksyul’’
Lo’ak flushed, sun lily. If she was his water lily then he was her sun. She then said it was because of his eyes and how they glowed the perfect shade of yellow. Can she get anymore perfect..
He made an impulsive decision and her family and his dad were gonna kill him.
He kissed her.
Holding her soft cheeks and tilting his head slightly, their lips connected and it was like everything fell into perfect alignment. She was his everything and he hers. They could only imagine their life together for the future.
And it seemed perfect.

Patching up BOYFRIEND! Ao’nung ☆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairings → AO’NUNG x fem!omaticaya! reader
summary → Ao’nung gets into trouble and you’re there to help him -^-
warnings → basically just fluff / slight mention of fighting / kisses and cuddles ☆
word count → 773 words ( very short ).
It was well known around the village that Ao’nung could get in some trouble, the question that many of the clan members ask is.. does he deliberately do it or not? That question will always be unanswered but somehow this boy still finds himself in the middle of rambles and arguments left and right.
He would never worry about having his pretty face messed up because he knew you would always be at home ready to patch him up and hold him until you both fall asleep.
That is exactly what happened after today’s shenanigans.
You sat in your’s and Ao’nungs newly shared marui pod humming to yourself as you weaved some new blankets for other women in the clan. You and your family had been staying with the Metkayina for the past seven months and despite all of the issues he and your siblings had with each other, you and Ao’nung surprisingly formed a loving bond super fast.
You were so lost in your thoughts, you hadn’t even realised that your boyfriend had walked in until he wrapped his arms around your waist from behind you and started peppering your neck and shoulders with small kisses. You smiled and turned around until you saw his beat and bruised face.
“My goodness Ao’nung! What happened?!” He smirked at the same worry full look in your eyes that you always have when he comes home like this.
“It wasn’t that bad, just some random boys talking about you again.” he waved you off with a flick of his hand, trying to drop the conversation.
“They were talking about me? In a good or bad way.”
“both.”
You were confused for a second until you looked into his eyes and they had that familiar hint of jealousy in them. You decided not to talk about it any further knowing it would just make him more upset and instead dragged him onto the soft mat and went over to grab some of the healing ointments that you had ready for times like this.
You sat in front of him, wincing at the already purple bruise forming on his face as you started applying some of the green herbal paste over it. The combination of herbs and plants put into this mixture is meant to make healing much faster and less painful.
You’re too busy focusing on making sure that his wounds are tended to, you don’t even realise him staring right into your eyes.
He loves your eyes, they remind him of the warm sun that is constantly beaming on his face. He loves how if he stares close enough, he can see tiny specks of green in them making him think about the forest, your home, you’re always talking about.
As soon as you’re finished fixing him up your eyes meet his.
“What?” You say with a small smile on your face.
He watches as your nose scrunches up and your lips slightly hang open waiting for him to answer your question.
“Nothing, you’re just beautiful.” He tilts his head with a smirk.
“Oh nuh uh, that was so cheesy!” You playfully pushed his face away from yours as you got up to put all of the pastes and cloths back into their place.
He got up and followed after you slowly wrapping his arms around your waist, resting his head on your shoulder. Thanks to your families genes, you were actually pretty tall for your age, that’s something you were grateful for as it came in handy a lot. Especially when you’re kissing and hugging your boyfriend, you can always wrap your arms comfortably around his neck or rest your head against his shoulder.
“Yawntu i’m tired, we should rest now.”
You turn your head to look outside, eclipse is nearing and you might as well start your day early tomorrow, besides your already tired from doing your daily chores and helping your siblings with theirs.
“Alright then, come on big boy.” You drag him over to your shared bed made from soft blankets and woven mats, a hammock was much to small for you both to share so you had to upgrade to this. You surely weren’t complaining though.
You both get comfortable, with his head resting against your chest, his head slowly rising for every breath you take.
It’s not long before you hear the soft snores coming out of your beloveds mouth, at first the sound was slightly annoying until you grew more and more tired and it ended up lulling you to sleep.
Throughout the night you both tossed and turned finding different positions to cradle each other in, but still never falling out of each other’s warm embrace.

Floral Hair Adornments || Ao’nung x fem!Omaticaya reader
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Summary: You braid Ao'nung's hair, though at first he is hesitant about the idea. However, as you work on his hair, he comes to appreciate the result and is pleased with the outcome
Warnings: none
Word count: 1687
Author: Rouge
A/N: prior to reading, it’s important to know that: the reader is female Omaticaya ✤ today’s prompt: putting flowers in their hair
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a member of the Omaticaya clan, you had a deep respect for the ways of your people. When you joined Jake Sully and his family in the journey to the Metkayina clan as they fled to seek refuge, you knew that it would be a challenge to understand the reef clan customs.
____________________________
The air was thick with the sounds of the sea, the chirping of insects and the calls of strange animals echoing in the distance. As you made your way through dunes covered with lush unspoiled vegetation, you couldn't help but feel drawn to the coast.
The Metkayina clan was known for their love for the sea, and you were curious about their way of life. You had heard many stories about the reef people, about how they lived in harmony with the ocean and the creatures that called it home. As you approached the shore, you saw a group of young Metkayina men gathered around a fire, laughing and joking with each other.
One of them caught your eye. His name was Ao'nung, and he was the chief’s son. He was unlike any other Metkayina you had ever seen. He was brash and overconfident, always pushing his limits and testing the boundaries of his abilities. Ao'nung was also known for his arrogance and rough demeanor, and he had a reputation for being disrespectful to others.
As you approached the group, Rotxo, a close friend of Ao'nung, noticed you and leaned towards one of the other boys to whisper something. Soon, a burst of loud laughter erupted from the group.
Curiously, you asked, "What are you laughing at?" Though, deep down, you knew they were likely mocking your appearance.
"Look at her skinny tail, it's like a twig," one of Ao’nung’s friends said, gesturing with his hands.
"Yeah, and her legs and hands are so thin, useless," another chimed in, laughing while giving you a cold glance.
You tried to brush off their comments, but it left a sour taste in your mouth. You couldn't understand why they found it amusing to mock someone's appearance like that. “Ha-ha. Your current behavior is quite amusing. Were you not taught that making fun of others is impolite? Perhaps it's not something you can understand with your limited intellectual capacity, though…” You commented bitterly, slowly raising one of your brows.
As you spoke to him, the young boy felt his cheeks flushing with anger. How dare you pick on him, he thought. He clenched his fists and tightened his jaw, trying to hold back his emotions, but it was no use. "What's your problem?" He snapped at you, his voice laced with bitterness.
After glancing around and stopping your glance briefly at Ao'nung, you spoke up, "You started this, and there's no reason to be so unkind to me." You then turned and left, walking along the shore and letting the little waves bathe your blue feet, knowing there was no use in sticking around with young Metkayina boys. As you walked away from Ao'nung and his friends, you felt hurt and upset by their cruel words. However, you didn't expect to see Ao'nung following you shortly after.
"I'm sorry," he said quietly, looking down at the sand after lining up with you. "I didn't mean to hurt you. My friends can be harsh sometimes, and I should have stopped them."
You were surprised to hear him apologize, but also felt a sense of relief that someone from the group seemed to care. You replied, giving him a brief glance, saying "It's fine, really. I've gotten used to the mocking."
Ao'nung couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt gnawing at him as he reflected on his past behavior. He had been so cruel, mocking not only the way you looked but also Sully's siblings. He could remember the way you had looked at him, hurt and defeated, and he couldn't shake the feeling of regret. He knew that he had been in the wrong, and he wished that he could turn back time and make things right. The memory of your brief glance made him cringe, and he couldn't help but feel like a monster for making you feel that way. “Listen, Y/N, can we start all over?”
You stopped in your tracks and placed your hands on your hips, giving him a withering look. "Are you seriously asking me to forget everything that was said? You were absolutely horrible, not only to me but especially to Kiri and Lo'ak. But, I don't like to hold a grudge, so we can give it a shot."
Ao'nung turned to you, a glint of curiosity in his eyes. "Tell me more about yourself then," he said, a hint of eagerness in his voice.
You raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised by his sudden interest. "What do you want to know? And are you seriously going to leave your pals behind?"
"Everything, and yeah, I bet they can hang out a little without me," he replied, a grin spreading across his face. "What do you like to do? What do you dream about?”
You hesitated for a moment, not used to opening up to strangers. But there was something about Ao'nung's expression that made you feel comfortable, so you began to share your interests and aspirations.
As you talked, he listened intently, his eyes bright with fascination. It was a refreshing change from the teasing and mocking you had experienced earlier, and you found yourself warming up to him.
When you finished speaking, Ao'nung smiled. "You're really something," he said. "I hope I can get to know you better."
“Maybe,” you replied a little softer than you intended. As you walked along the dune near the shore, you couldn't help but admire the beautiful wildflowers growing in the sand. They were bright and vibrant, contrasting with the neutral colors of the dune. You felt a strong desire to pick some of them up and take them with you. You turned to Ao'nung, eager to share your admiration of the flowers with him. "Look at these flowers! They're so beautiful, aren't they?"
Ao'nung glanced at the plants, but didn't seem to share your enthusiasm. "I guess they're okay," he said, shrugging his shoulders.
You couldn't understand how he wasn't mesmerized by their beauty. "Don't you think they would make a great decoration for our homes?"
Ao'nung shook his head. "I think it's a little silly to pick flowers just for decoration. They belong here, in the wild, where they can grow and thrive."
You realized that he had a point, but you still couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. The flowers were just so lovely, and you wanted to take a piece of that beauty with you. "Can I braid your hair?" You asked suddenly, a little shyly.
Ao'nung's eyes widened in surprise, and then he burst out laughing. "Braid my hair? That's not necessary and a little ridiculous!" He exclaimed, rolling his eyes a little.
You gave him a look. "It's not ridiculous," you said. "You owe me something after all, for the mocking you used on me. And I would be happy to braid your hair, if you'll let me. Perhaps I could completely put the past behind us and give you the opportunity to know me better.”
Ao'nung hesitated for a moment, then he shrugged. "Fine, but don't expect me to like it."
You picked two plants and apologized to Eywa for picking them without a particular purpose. Then, you turned to Ao'nung and as he sat down on the sand, and knelt behind him, carefully undoing his hair and slowly brushing it with your long, thin fingers. You braided Ao'nung's hair with skill and precision, weaving the strands in a beautiful pattern. As you finished, you delicately placed the two flowers you had picked earlier into his hair, creating a stunning adornment. “There. It looks good! Check it out, if you want.”
Ao'nung was hesitant at first, not used to wearing flowers in his hair, but he trusted you and let you work your magic. When he looked at his reflection in the water, he was surprised to find that he actually liked the way he looked.
"Well, it's not bad, actually. It's a bit too feminine for my taste, but I'm sure my sister would have loved it. Tsireya enjoys decorating my hair with various types of adornments herself," he told you, smiling a little.
As you and Ao'nung were enjoying the view, a loud whistle caught your attention. You turned around to see Rotxo approaching, and as soon as he noticed Ao'nung's hair adorned with flowers, he burst into uncontrollable laughter, holding onto his stomach. "What the hell, Ao'nung! I had no idea that you preferred your hair to be so tidy!”
Ao'nung had enough of Rotxo's teasing about his hair, and he straightened up, fixing his gaze on him. "Enough, Rotxo," he said firmly, "It's called fashion, and if you can't appreciate it, that's your problem. I like it, and that's all that matters."
Ao'nung's words elicited a chuckle from you. It was surprising to know that he had an understanding of fashion, given he was portraying himself as a bad boy. "We should start heading back to the village, the eclipse is coming soon," you suggested.
Rotxo approached Ao'nung and attempted to adjust one of the flowers in his hair, but Ao'nung swatted his hand away with a loud hiss as he showed Rotxo his sharp fangs.
As Rotxo gave his friend's shoulder a little push, the three of you began making your way back to the village. "I wonder what others will say about your new look, Ao'nung," Rotxo pondered.
Ao'nung shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't give a damn."
As the three of you arrived at the village, the sky was already darkening, and the first signs of the eclipse were beginning to show. The air was getting cooler, and the wind had started to pick up. The village was abuzz with activity as people gathered to spend time with their loved ones.
Ao'nung turned to you and gave you a sly wink, and you couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement at the connection between you two and a sense of warmth and connection with him, despite the awkwardness from earlier. The eclipse was a beautiful and awe-inspiring sight, and you were grateful that the promise of a new beginning was on the horizon.

Trust me.
ao’nung x gn!omaticaya reader
a sprinkle of jealousy, arguing, slightly suggestive content
ao’nung had hated you since the day you arrived, and the feeling was mutual. He and his friends would taunt you and your family, but despite his important role in the village, you fought back each and every time. Soon a realization that the ‘hatred’ you felt for each other was something much more different, something that you were unwilling to accept.
3.4k words
why can’t i stop writing for bro…? ☠️
Tumblr media
“Let me,” Jake held a hand out as he walked away from the ikran. Many Metkayina circled around and blatantly stared. You could feel the urge to curl in on yourself crawl up your spine quicker than you expected.
Quickly undoing the queue from your banshee, you ran to stand next to Kiri.
Your father slowly took steps toward the crowd, holding his hands out to signal that he meant no harm. Neteyam and Lo’ak followed him.
Cautiously, Jake looked back to you and Kiri and nodded, yet you didn’t move until Kiri did. It was beyond overwhelming to be eyed by a crowd of judgment as you walked, lowering your head in an attempt to shy away from the reality of it.
You heard footsteps ahead and angled your head upward slightly, jaw falling slack as you got a good look at the people before you. Two boys emerged from the crowd, your heart thrumming faster when you locked eyes with one in particular. The mere intensity from his gaze left you unable to breathe.
His aura oozed of condescension.
Neteyam and Lo’ak bowed their heads, fingers to their head as they greeted the mysterious Na’vis.
Waves began rustling beside you and you turned to look, watching as a beautiful girl hopped off of a fish? water dragon? albeit with extreme grace. It made you envious.
Apparently, you weren’t the only one entranced, as you brought your gaze back to the scene around you and saw Lo’ak, blatantly ogling the young woman. It was clear to anyone who had eyes.
“Hey,” he mumbled as she stood next to other Metkayina. She smiled and ducked her head.
Your amusement was cut short when you were reminded of who was behind you.
He took his time in examining you, never seeming interested to return the greeting in the slightest. His eyes seemed to stop on a particular area on the lower part of your body, and a smirk began to pull at his lips.
“What is that? Is that supposed to be a tail?” he asked, moving closer as the other followed behind him closely. They began to laugh loudly, and you noticed the one who caught your eye reaching out to touch it. You quickly turned around and hissed, slapping his hand away.
Your eyes darted to his and you took notice of the way his smirk dropped, now staring at you with a newfound glint in his gaze. His friend snickered behind him.
“Do not! Rotxo, Ao’nung!” you heard from the girl.
You turned around to look at Jake, immediately regretting your actions when you caught a glimpse of the expression he wore. You moved to the other side of Kiri and gripped the cloth that was loosely hung around your arms, looking at the ground.
The loud sound of wind whooshing above you was what got you to look up, eyes widening as you watched a huge creature with a tail and wings soar across the sky, planting itself into the water soon after.
A man half your size hastily hopped off the animal, making his way toward you and your family.
“Olo’eyktan, I see you, Tonowari,” Jake said, greeting the chief, Tonowari his name was. Neytiri and Neteyam mirrored his actions.
“Jake sully,” the chief returned the gesture, settling himself in front of your family. From behind, you could see another woman approaching. She was dressed beautifully, yet she held a distasteful expression on her face.
“I see you, Ronal,” your father was quick to say, your mother following suit.
A best of silence passed before anyone spoke again.
“Why do you come to us, Jake Sully?” Tonowari asked. Your father wasted no time and got straight to the point. “We seek Uturu,” he raised his arms, looking back to us. Gasps were heard amongst the crowd and your cringed a bit.
“Uturu?” Ronal asked, almost disbelievingly. “A sanctuary for my family,” he was quick to add on, Tuk was lifted into his arms and he looked to Tonowari and Ronal with pleading eyes. Ronal looked away, now beginning to move toward Lo’ak.
More moments of silence passed before a single word was uttered.
“Their arms are thin!” she declared, lifting Lo’aks arm to show the people. “Their tails are weak, they will be slow in the water,” she added, swiftly turning and pulling at Kiri’s tail. She muttered a quick ow and moved away from the Tsahik, but Ronal tried again.
“These children…” she paused, grabbing Kiri’s hand and analyzing with potent distaste, “are not even true Na’vi!”
The Metkayina’s gasped, your lips parted and you stared at Ronal with wide eyes. “Dad…” Kiri muttered, turning to look at him. She looked back to her quickly and took her hand back, “yes we are!”
After continuing to criticize your family, Jake decided that he had had enough and shoved his hand into the air, showing that he was born among sky people and proving that adaptation is possible.
Neytiri watched with disliking eyes, stepping out in front of Ronal once close enough.
“My husband was Toruk Macto,” she started, and immediately a cringe found it’s way onto your expression, as did it on everyone else’s, “he led the clans to victory against the sky people.”
At this point you had already zoned out, simply not interested in listening any longer. Gazing upon the beauty of the reef, your eyes accidentally met a pair of familiar blue ones. You held back a snarl, deciding that you no longer felt any interest in him after the stunt he pulled.
He tilted his head and that smirk returned, only this time it was faint. You were thinking of some way to respond, some way to tell him off, until he snapped his head towards the Olo’eyktan.
“—Makto and his family will be staying with us. But they do not know the sea, so they will be like babies taking their first breath. My son Ao’nung, my daughter Tsireya will be showing you to your marui and will train your children.”
“Father why—” he tried to protest, but Tonowari dismissed him before he could even finish his sentence.
At this, you stifled a laugh, watching this so called Ao’nung with humor before smiling sweetly, taking slow steps toward him.
“Please do show me where to go, as I am just a baby taking my first breath.”
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“Come this way, we will be training here,” Tsireya said, smiling kindly before walking away. Lo’ak was the first to follow, but it’s not like you’d expected any less. He’d been pining over the girl for the last two days.
“I just don’t understand how she can be so happy all the time,” you muttered to Kiri as you stood, following after, albeit a bit further away than the others, “I hate it here.”
Kiri sighed and looked at you. “You hate it here? Or you hate Ao’nung?” she queried, deciphering your words for you. Just the sound of his name had you bitterly tugging on your bottom lip.
She wasn’t wrong. Here in the reef, it was absolutely stunning, certainly something you could get used to waking up to every morning. There was only one thing ruining your experience. A person, moreover a thing, but you hardly considered him as one.
You made sure to drag your feet extra slow as you reached the rock, gaze never leaving Ao’nungs as he watched with a hardened jaw. Everyone had already found spots, and it would only be your luck that the only available space left would be next to him.
“You will learn how to hold your breath today,” Tsireya explained, looking at each of you to make sure you understood. Tuk raised an eyebrow, scratching a spot on her head, “Don’t we already know how to do that?”
Tsireya smiled, shaking her head. “For longer, Tuk. If you want to live amongst us, you must know how to hold your breath longer.”
“Yeah,” Rotxo snickered, “you guys were terrible yesterday.”
You crossed your arms, looking at him, “don’t you think that if we knew that we’d be coming here, we’d practice?”
He looked to the sky in faux thought. Looked back to you. “Probably not.”
Fighting back a smile, you caught Ao’nung looking at you distastefully in the corner of your eye, smile immediately dropping as you turned to face him.
“What?” you spat.
He quickly looked to Tsireya, grumbling for her to hurry and get on with the lesson.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“No Lo’ak, you have to breathe from here,” she said for the third time, eventually just leaning over to show him herself. She placed one hand on his stomach, and then his chest. “Your heartbeat is fast…”
You watched amusedly, sharing knowing looks with Neteyam and Rotxo. Kiri was occupied with helping Tuk and they seemed to be doing much better than you. It was a bit humbling, watching your younger siblings nail something so simple contrary to you.
You felt a warm hand on your arm and you stiffened immediately, looking at the hand before looking at Ao’nung.
“Need help?” he taunted, wearing the smirk he knew you hated. He leaned closer, the space between you filling fast.
“No.”
“Are you sure?”
“No.”
His eyes widened a fraction at your words, and it took a moment for you to clock what you had said.
“Yes. I meant yes, I— You’re close. Too close.” it was painfully obvious how out of breath you were, how flustered you became from just a simple touch.
Ao’nungs smirk grew and he just barely moved away.
“Trust me, I would rather be doing anything else. Just like you,” he muttered, though it sounded nothing like his usual biting and spiteful tone. Your eyes darted to his, brows furrowing slightly. He avoided your eyes and focused his attention elsewhere.
Although his eyes were looking at anything but you, you could feel his hand slipping from your arm and inching closer to your stomach, until finally his warm palm made contact.
You shivered, praying he didn’t notice. He suddenly went serious and his eyes met yours. You could not possibly know why, but you felt your stomach drop.
“…This okay?”
Your heart began to race.
Tongue darting out nervously, his eyes instantly dropped to your mouth and watched the action. You quickly moved his hand away, standing abruptly.
Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch you, the atmosphere suddenly felt suffocating.
Quickly apologizing, you blurted the only excuse you could think of and walked off. Looking over your shoulder, you found everyone paying no mind to it and resuming their previous activities.
Everyone but Ao’nung, who watched as you walked away with a set jaw.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
You had spent the last few weeks acting as if nothing had happened.
Except you were definitely trying to avoid him at all costs, but there were some situations where it was just completely unavoidable. Him and his group of fish friends would pick fights, purposefully irritate you and your siblings. It was always the same with him.
You hate him.
You hate him, you try to tell yourself. You try to convince yourself that you hate the way he looks at you, the way he smiles at you, the way you unconsciously find yourself casting looks into his direction, way more than you truly should.
You mindlessly stare into the dark sky and think over the maelstrom of thoughts and emotions running through you.
The thought that you merely entertain the idea of hating him, yet, do you really?
You’re dragged out of your thoughts before you can even decide, hearing the yelps of male voices. Immediately you stand and walk over to the sounds, and to your (not) surprise you’re met with the sight of Ao’nung and his friends fighting with your brothers. Kiri stood wordlessly behind them, watching it all play out.
“Kiri?! What—”
She bursts out in laughter, doubling over and leaning onto a tree for support.
You watch in bewilderment, not knowing which group to look at. Sighing, you decide to put an end to the fight, grabbing Lo’aks ear and shoving him behind you, glaring at the now frozen party of Na’vi.
Neteyam stood and walk past you without a word, grabbing Lo’ak by the arm and taking him away with him. Your snatched your gaze from your siblings and turn it onto Ao’nung, who was already looking at you.
Storming to him, you harshly grab him and drag him along, set on finding a private area and scolding his damn ears off.
Firmly yet gently urging him behind a large rock, you finally meet his eyes and clench your fists.
“Are you hurt?” you seethed.
“Awh—” he tried to say, but quickly shut up when he caught the look on your face.
“Seriously, do you ever let up?” you whispered, defeated. “Is it impossible for you to go one day without hurting my family in some way?”
Ao’nung could feel his mouth grow dry, and he opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out.
“Now you can’t answer me? But I thought you always had something to say?” you continued, stepping closer. “Don’t you realize how cruel it is? We left our home for our safety, and yet we are treated like this by you. Only you.”
“Wait, if you would just let me—”
“Honestly? I don’t want to hear anything from you, Ao’nung,” you mumbled in defeat, turning to walk away. Ao’nung grabbed your hand and pulled you back firmly.
“Please,” he said in your native language, eyes searching yours deeply.
You exhaled sharply and shook your head, pulling your hand back.
“For the record, I wouldn’t have given a damn if you’re hurt or not,” you said, parting with that. Another lie to feed off of.
You’d be lying once more if you said it didn’t hurt you.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“You know…” you heard from above you.
Looking up, you saw Kiri, Neteyam, and Lo’ak. Already, you knew it was bad news.
“The answer is no,” you stated simply and continued to feed your ilu.
Kiri kneeled down to your height and stopped you from getting another feeder fish. “Hear us out, at least,” she pleaded, looking back to your siblings knowingly. Sighing, you creased your brows and turned to face them, staring expectantly.
“Since, you know, you are the best sister we could’ve ever asked for…” Lo’ak started, using his puppy eyes to his advantage, he opened his mouth to continue, but you held a hand up. “If you all are going to lie, at least get Kiri or ‘teyam to do it. I might believe them,” you smiled, raising a brow to Lo’ak.
“What? But the eyes always worked!” he groaned.
Eyes, you thought. It sent you into a whirlpool of how he would look at you, how his eyes—
You held a finger up in correction, “Used to.”
“Well,” Neteyam jumped in, swiftly stepping in front of Lo’ak to take over, “we wanted to show our appreciation… of some sort.”
“And how will you do that?” you inquired.
“Get on your ilu. We’re taking you somewhere,” he said, calling for his ilu as soon as he finished his sentence, Kiri and Lo’ak doing the same.
Despite your suspicions, you still followed them into the water.
The bioluminescence contrasted to the darkness of the night sky was truly one of the most beautiful things you’d ever seen. The sun had just set and you were still following your siblings to wherever godforsaken place they were taking you. You heard Lo’ak signal for you to turn right, and what you saw had rendered you completely speechless.
Large, beautiful rocks that rounded and appeared as half circles, floating rocks like the hallelujah mountains back home, luminous green vines that contrasted the purple color of the tree below the water.
Your amazement never faltered as you admired the scenery around you. Kiri caught up next to you and smiled with you, taking a look around for herself. “It really is beautiful isn’t it?”
“What is this place?” you whispered, turning to face her. She ran her hand through the waves and looked to the tree. “This is their tree of spirits. They call it the Cove of Ancestors.”
“Stunning…” you murmured absentmindedly, slowly venturing deeper into the cove. “Can I go under and—” you turned around to ask, but when you looked back, Kiri was nowhere to be seen. They were all nowhere to be seen.
You blinked, breathing in shakily. You knew they were up to no good, but this? What made them think to leave you alone in a vast ocean miles away from shore.
“Kiri!” you shouted, praying to Eywa she hadn’t really left you. “Neteyam?!”
Fuck. Assholes. You tugged on your lip with your teeth harshly.
You heard a noise behind you and snapped in the direction. Ice struck your nerves. You were stranded in an ocean. Alone. With dangerous creatures all around you.
“Guys!” you tried again, not that you were expecting a response.
Except, you got one.
“You okay?”
You whipped your head in the opposite direction and despite the relief that flooded through your body, you were still extremely pissed.
“Ao’nung?” you hissed.
You stared at him, wondering just what the hell he would be doing here so late at night, until it clicked.
“You put them up to this?” you asked, so quiet he almost didn’t catch it. He watched the way your face dropped and cursed, bringing his ilu forward to meet you.
Turning your head away, you wanted to command your ilu to move away, but you just couldn’t find it in you.
“Let me explain, just follow me to this rock. Please,” he pleaded with you. “Please.”
Silently, you nodded and followed him up the rock. Still you refused to meet his eyes. A hand came up and cupped your jaw, making it harder with every second that passed to deny him of what he wanted.
“I didn’t bring you here to make you upset,” he whispered.
You scoffed and shoved his hand away, finally meeting his gaze. “And why would I believe you? What took you so long to come out! It’s like you get a rise out of—”
“You were scared?” he cut you off. “Yes! …Yes I was scared, Ao’nung. I thought I got left alone.”
“I wouldn’t ever do that to you.”
Wordlessly staring at him, your lips parted unconsciously. Crossing your arms, you looked away. “Well, I wouldn’t put it past you.”
Ao’nung sighed and dropped his head, looking at everything but you.
He merely liked the idea of hating you, because the truth was that he loved you.
“You don’t know?” he asked, you furrowed your brows and looked back at him. “Know.. what?”
“We were fighting because I wanted to tell you this.”
Although you were supposed to hate him, curiosity couldn’t stop you from wanting to know more. You stepped closer into his warmth, hands finding solace on his forearms.
“I see you.”
Shaky breaths intermingled with one another. You felt weak as you took his words into account. Slowly, you slid your hands higher until they met the nape of his neck, really basking in the feeling of his touch.
“I’ve been lying to myself since I first saw you,” you muttered, pulling him closer, “I cannot lie any longer.” Opening your eyes, you hazily examined his features. The features you tried to fool yourself into believing you weren’t in love with. “I see you, Ao’nung.”
Reaching down, he captured your lips in his and poured every ounce of passion and every ounce of his feelings into the kiss. His mouth was doing way too well at swallowing every little noise you made, reciprocating it with low groans and fleeting touches.
You were all too focused on the feeling of how perfectly his lips molded against yours, you grew lightheaded fast and pulled away for air. Still, he continued to pepper kisses over your cheeks, neck and collarbone, desperate for any kind of contact with you.
Your face was flushed and you were out of breath, this didn’t go unnoticed by Ao’nung and he smiled against your skin at the sight of his works.
“Getting a kick out of this Ao’nung?” you sighed, jokingly flicking at his arm.
“Trust me, its a sight I could get used to seeing.”
