#Nova's fine#we have it down to a routine now#1. boom#2. dog looks startled#3. dog comes to person#4. human provides a fireworks fort#5. bully stick time#I don't know what's up with this fucking town but they sure are boom happy#I think it upsets me 3x what it upsets Nova anymore#she's getting so much fireworks practice#anyway she's safe and cozy in the closet with her dick#nowadays as long as she's somewhere enclosed that muffles the fireworks a bit she's fine#the house isn't insulated for shit so fireworks are practically full volume in the living room - otherwise I think she'd be comfortable#anywhere indoors#I speak#my critters

looking at cats that are up for adoption at the local animal shelter and... I think out of all the cats there were two that don't require letting them go outside 🙃
#(important info/clarification: our cats are indoor cats and I'm against letting cats outside unsupervised!)#the only ones I can remember were a pair that were a specific breed.#all the others HAVE TO be outdoor cats#I'm glad there's other options because we would not get a cat from a shelter anywhere around here#at least the last time I checked a few years ago ALL of them require letting cats outside#I'm always fascinated by the conversation about this online#maybe... some people should consider being less mean and horrible to people who still let their cats outside? just a thought...#because no one around where I live keeps their cats inside (except again if they're a breed.)#so like. I might never have thought about it if I hadn't seen people talking about it (but not the horrible mean ones who tell people their#cats should die if they let them outside...)#annnyway#it makes me sad that the shelters won't even consider you if you say you won't let the cat(s) go outside#I really want to get a kitten like. sometime within the next year hopefully. when I get a job I guess#and we'll have to go with some random person who either rescued some kittens or whose cat accidently got pregnant again#I mean it worked out great last time - our boys are amazing#but still. sucks that the shelter isn't an option at all#personal

#i still wear a mask in all public indoor places which for me means work school & public transportation#but i take it off if i’m eating or drinking#& if i’m going somewhere where i know i’ll be eating or drinking the duration of my time there (bar or restaurant) i usually don’t mask#for context i live in the u.s. & currently it is typical here to not wear a mask anywhere#have encountered a variety of people w different approaches 2 how/when they mask so i’m curious what everyone on my tumblr.com sphere#is doing..

I’m so scared and overwhelmed all the time I just want to sleep but I’m scared of sleeping because even my dreams that aren’t outright nightmares are exhausting
#today I got worried that all my stuff will get permanently contaminated from smoking indoors and it’ll kill me#at the place I live we’re encouraged to smoke indoors and I’m afraid to leave my apartment anyway#weekends are so stressful bc there’s too many cars and crowding to go anywhere and I’m terrified#on weekends and in the evening when I think people will be home#I can only feel safe thinking all the buildings and apartments are empty#living in a neighborhood is too scary too. however I hate rural areas and being far away from stores

Mystery of the day: just walked into the living room to my cat next to a dead bird. My cats are indoor cats, everything is closed off. I have no idea how the bird got in, and how my indoor cat that has never been able to succesfully hunt anything killed it...

rly gratifying to finally play beach with ppl i know from women's 9-man or indoor (so regular 6's) who play more grass, and finding out i can rly win against them at doubles. like these ppl might play organized grass tournaments all summer but i am really good at this beach thing. this guy i played with today said it's rly hard to read me he could not tell where i was going at all
#beach is the 4d chess of volleyball#like indoor esp high level league with big guys on a men's net i'm at a severe disadvantage#and in women's indoor i simply am not that good at my position (middle)#but beach is my game. it's all in the brain. u don't have to have the fastest reflexes u just have to be efficient#and read your opponent well and react on the fly when your read wasn't exactly right#not that i'm anywhere near kristen nuss but the reason why she's dominating women's beach is her reaction to changes on the court#even just 3 years ago ppl were still making guesses in pro beach#but i rly think everyone's altered their strategy since then#the 1 high statistical step toward your read but no more (no committing fully to 1 read) is such a game changer
