quite interesting how the valencian government cut the emergency services and last october there were unprecedently catastrophic floodings there, and how the city of los angeles cut the funding for the los angeles fire department and now there is a catastrophic fire going on. almost as if there was a pattern going on here...

SCP doctor dateable types? I saw your stardew valley one and thought it was really good
OMG OMG OMG YES
Quick little note guys I am working on more fanfics 🤭 okay enjoy
SCP doctors and their “types”
Tumblr media
Characters: Jack Bright, Alto Clef, Benjamin Kondraki, Simon Glass, Dr Gears
Genre: idk just Headcanons
Includes: Headcanons of what I think their “types” would be, and a headcanon of what I think their favourite song would be as an extra treat 🤭
Warnings: IDK this is just my characterization of the characters, if they don’t fit into your own characterizations then write ur own fics. This is going to be rlly similar to the stardew one because I’m unoriginal. Always remember that these guys would love you no matter what you look like or how you are !! This is just what I think.
Moving on
Tumblr media
Dr. Jack Bright
He’s definitely looking for someone with similar energy as him
Maybe even willing to play some pranks with him
But I also feel like he wouldn’t mind someone with opposite energy
Shy, quiet type, yk?
I think he would love to date someone who’s a little bit more “alternative”
Or generally people with good style
Lord knows he doesn’t have it but he would love if you did
Someone with a nice voice for sure
He also just wants someone who will be there for him, and comfort him when he needs it
Very touch deprived so maybe someone with a love language that’s physical touch
Anyways I think his favourite song would be Porn star dancing - My Darkest Days
Tumblr media
Dr. Alto Clef
He wants Someone LOUD
Someone who will blast music if a room gets too quiet, or someone who will sit and talk for hours about anything
Also someone who’s bold, or up for any challenge, and not afraid to speak their mind
Loves people who express themselves
I think he’s decently tall so he likes people shorter than him
Also people with nice hair
He’s he’s a thigh guy for sure
He likes people who play instruments of course
I feel like style wise, he likes anyone. Emo, preppy, whatever, he loves and supports it
As for his favourite song, DONTTRUSTME - 3OH!3 takes the cake
Tumblr media
Dr. Benjamin Kondraki
He likes quiet people
He also likes people who know how to be calm even in the worst, most stressful situations.
People who know how to be safe around SCPs so he can be sure they won’t get hurt
He likes people who smell good tbh
He also likes tall people
Even if they’re shorter than him, if they’re moderately tall he loves it
Loves people with long hair
He would like to play with it and (try to) style it
He like people with piercings. Nothing over the top, but he thinks enough piercings look amazing on people
His favourite song is heart shaped box - nirvana
Tumblr media
Dr. Simon Glass
He likes people who are quiet, but confident.
And people who know how to hold up a conversation
People with nice pretty hands too
And painted nails
Pls pls paint his nails
He likes people who are smart and rational
Also people with dyed hair lol
He likes tall people
Definitely likes rational people
And people who are skilled at things
Anyways the award of his favourite song goes to Such Small Hands - La Dispute
Tumblr media
Dr. Gears
Likes people that are quiet and reserved
And calm
Definitely likes people who like to read
He also likes people who know how to cook/bake
And people who are smart ofc
Wants someone that has good grammar
I feel like he likes generally anyone and doesn’t care how they look
He doesn’t care about style either
He doesn’t have a favourite song.
Tumblr media
Hope you guys enjoyed lol I tried my best
Sorry for never posting I’m working on it
Leave more requests (especially about my hyperfixations pls)
Including Gotham, Wednesday, SCP, AIB, girl from nowhere, all of us are dead, stardew valley, and anything on the list pinned to my profile

About 30 minuts later the guys came on stage, John had his bass Brian his guitar roger sat behind his drums and Freddie stood in the middel of the stage dressed in a white outfit he looked absolutly amazing in it and so did the others.
The first tunes of Brian his guitar rang trough the air, a day at the races next up came bohemain rhapsody y/n sang along with the song as best as she could.
When the 7th song was played you're my best friend tears sprang in y/n her eyes and she started to cry softly, Freddie looked acros the crowd when his eyes fell on her and he stoped singing and people groaned in anoiance.
"Excuse me miss" he crouched down infront of her on the stage "are you alright dear?"
She gasped "Oh y.. Yes im sorry please do continue don't be bothered by me"
" Alright " he wisspred he stood up again "Sorry lovelys lets continue"
Once the song 39 was playing y/n grabed Alice her hand and sang along with Brian and Freddie
🎶Don't you hear my call though you're many years away
Don't you hear me calling you
Write your letters in the sand for the day I take your hand
In the land that our grandchildren knew🎶
🎶Don't you hear my call though you're many years away
Don't you hear me calling you
All your letters in the sand cannot heal me like your hand
For my life
Still ahead
Pity me🎶
Once the song was over people cheerd

"Its really nothig dear, and i still can't believe Freddie noticed you"

But I'm no fool
It's in the lap of the Gods🎶
🎶Whoa, whoa, la-la-la, whoa
Whoa, whoa, la-la, wah, wah, ooh
But that's not true
It's in the lap of the Gods
Whoa, whoa, la-la-la, whoa
Whoa, whoa, la-la, wah, wah, ooh
But I'm no fool
It's in the lap of the Gods
Whoa, whoa, la-la-la, whoa
Whoa, whoa, la-la, wah, wah, ooh
It's in the lap of the Gods
Whoa, whoa, la-la-la, whoa
Whoa, whoa, la-la, wah, wah, ooh
But I'm no fool
It's in the lap of the Gods
Whoa, whoa, la-la-la, whoa
Whoa, whoa, la-la, wah, wah, ooh🎶
The last notes rang out and when it was over people cheerd, Freddie once again stood in the middel of the stage and bowed and so did the others
"Thank you all for coming my dears have a wonderfull evening" (No idea if he did an outro just wanted to Wright that)
"I have an other suprise for you"
"Oh please Alice stop" She laught
"Alright i'll tell you what it is, its VIP tickets for backstage"
"No fucking way are you serious?! First a queen concert and then an VIP ticket to get backstage" she huged Alice "thank you so mutch i cant thank you enough"
"Its really nothing"
"Is there Anyway i can repay you"
"Just your friendship is enough, now come one lets go"
Once they arived the bouncer stood infront of a door "tickets please?"
"Here they are" Alice gave the man the tickets
"Everything seems in order, you may enter"
"Im so nervous"
"Dont worry it be fine im not going to leave you alone"
"I know"
"Y/n look thats Brian may"
"Omg hes even taller up close"
"Hello ladys welcome backstage I hope you enjoyed the concert"
"Oh yes we really did"
"Hello lovelys" y/n turned to the voice, it was Freddie Mercury
"Hi"
"You are the girl in the front who started to cry, is everything alright?"
"Oh yes am doing fine now, i forgot my meds today and thats why i started to cry i just was really anxious"
"Wel you made it through the concert" Freddie pulled her in for a big hug " now come you must be hungry you and your friend have been here very long i asume " Freddie gestured to a large couch "you two already met Brian, this is roger and John but you already know that " he laught " now please sit down"
"Well hello beautyfull"
"Roger no flirting they are guests"
"Hey you are that girl Freddie stoped for"
"That i am yes John" she smiled shyly
"Everything alright I hope?"
"Oh yes i am"
About an hour or so later y/n and Alice started to make them self ready to go home
"Y/n?"
"Yes Freddie?"
"I was wondering if i could get your number? I'll be giving a party in a few weeks and i want you and your friend Alice to come by"
"Oh sure here it is" she grabed a pen and a piece of paper "is it alright if i ask yours in return?"
"No not at al here"
"Thank you all so mutch this was an amazing experience "
"Glad you did dear, have a save drive home, i'll call you later"
"Alright," she huged him goodbye and waved to the others
"I can't beliefe it we met queen aaahhh" she gave a tiny yell of happiness
"Cant believe it eiter, now lets go home its an other hour driving"
"Alright lets go"
The end
I hope you enjoyed reading😊 please let me know what you think

✨✨La Squadra Boyfriend Headcanons✨✨
[Alexa, play Boyfriend by Big Time Rush]
Guys, I spend an ungodly amount of time thinking about La Squadra, so here are some bf headcanons for the sexiest group of assassins in Naples. No one asked but I am bringing it straight to your dash anyway! (under the cut for length lmao)
Tumblr media
I’m going to start with Prosciutto, who has recently fallen on my radar pretty heavy!
He’s a good and decent boyfriend, if not a busy one. Not that he doesn’t care about the relationship, but most of his energy was going to Passione things before you waltzed in and so he’ll struggle a bit between his work responsibilities and maintaining his relationship with you, but only in the beginning.
If you are also a part of Passione, it’s a hell of a lot easier to manage.
I see Prosciutto as the gift-giving type: lingerie, sweets, perfume, designers, etc. His salary isn’t the best, but he manages it as well as he can just to accommodate you!
I just can’t get the idea out of my head that Pro was raised by a strict mama, that’s why he can be a bit of a stickler sometimes. He’ll catch you still lounging in bed at nine am, and be like “Why are you still in bed? Get dressed, we’re going out.” Dude!
I’m sorry to say, but Prosciutto is absolutely the ‘lecturing’ type. (He lectured someone in nearly every scene in the anime, Formaggio once and Pesci numerously and Bucci too)
He will lecture you when you make mistakes, especially because as his s/o, he has high expectations for you and believes you’re capable of so much more. It’s never, ever out of hate. He loves you, and that’s why he chides you a bit lol.
This does not negate the fact that he doesn't mind when you lean on him for support. He likes when you count on him, because he always comes through especially for you!
Depending on whether you’re in the mafia or not, I totally see him sparring with you, or working out with you in an effort to make you tough. Prosciutto wants you to be able to defend yourself, just in case. If you complain, he’ll tell you, “Better safe than sorry, tesoro”.
Prosciutto will respect you, period.
A good listener, goddamn! He’s up there with Risotto when it comes to who listens to their s/o more! If you have an issue, he’ll hear you out and offer advice if you want it. If you give him advice, he’ll take it into serious consideration. He’s honestly a good partner, can’t stress that enough.
Finally, sex with Pro is an entire event. Romantic dinner, candles lit, wine, the whole nine yards before he gives you nine inches of something else :) (I’m kidding!! Lmao, kinda).
But as I said, Prosciutto is quite deliberate, and a bit of a perfectionist. He knows what to do and how to do it, you can trust him.
Ghiaccio is next only because he’s my favorite.
The ice gremlin is probably the most interesting (and hilarious) boyfriend out of the bunch (I say this with only a tidbit of bias). He isn’t funny himself, but funny shit just happens to him.
Because of this, he will use you as a soundboard when everyone else refuses to listen to him. He’s got a lot to say, so be prepared for his TEDtalks. LMAO!
It will take some perception on your part to notice when he actually expects a response from you, and other times he’s just ranting to get his point out.
He will correct your grammar when you text, but barely notices when he makes a similar mistake (his brain moves in mph). Please use the proper names like Venezia, Italia, Roma and Napoli when talking to this man; save yourself from the headache.
When it comes to dates, please have mercy on him, he’s a textbook over-thinker! You’ll just have to plan something simple at home for you both to enjoy.
He isn’t incapable of planning dates, but he’ll want everything to be so absolutely perfect for his s/o and will throw a fit when it ultimately isn’t.
Contrary to popular belief, I think that Ghiaccio is a pretty attentive partner. He’s super intelligent and I think a part of it stems from his innate ability to read people (I’m referencing the part in the anime where he deduced what Giorno and Mista had come to look for, while going off very little information).
The more time he spends with you, the better he gets at it.
His form of affection will be shown through the amount of time you both spend together. When it comes to sex or anything related to that, be gentle and slow as Ghiaccio will likely be a flustered mess.
As he becomes more comfortable and confident, he will be bolder and just ask out right if you’ll suck him off tonight or not. The man appreciates directness, so don’t bother being coy. “You want me to give you head? Cool, lay down a towel or something.” is what he’ll probably say.
Very practical 👌🏾👌🏾
Melone, good lord, he’s kind of perfect.
A bit of a doting boyfriend here and there—very much concerned about your health. Expect him to ask if you’ve eaten, or taken your multivitamin. How are your bowel movements?  LMAO
It can become a bit much, but he really genuinely cares. He’s not asking to be intrusive or nasty! If he was, you’d know. 🤣
But I seriously consider Melone to be the one (at least among La Squadra) who is way, way invested in his relationships. He will know every little detail about you; will ask you lots of questions and expects you to ask him just as many.
This may be annoying to some, but this dude will definitely bring up your horoscope in an argument. He’ll be like “I honestly can’t fathom why you’re being this way, though it’s to be expected from a libra.”
Peg this bitch so he can shut up.
Melone is also touchy as hell, but not in a clingy way. He loves touching, and just to tag onto the headcanon about his partial blindness, I want to say that he’s so touchy because that’s how he ‘sees’ you best.
Just know that half the time, he isn’t touching you to be lecherous, even if he genuinely does like the feel of your skin under his fingertips. Melone will even encourage you to touch him back.
Rub his thigh or back and he’ll be simping.
He is obsessed with your legs, and will paint your toes if you let him.
LOVES PDA! Melone will also tongue-kiss you in public if you let him!
Notice how I keep saying ‘if you let him’. Give him an inch and he’ll press you for a mile, so if there are boundaries you would like to establish, please do, cuz he sure as hell won’t, just saying!
When it comes to sex, Melone is a dick and coochie sensei. Oral is his favorite thing to do, probably enjoys giving more than receiving to be honest. I’d say he’s pretty much mastered sex for what it is.
That being said, if he’s ever talking out of his neck, just invite him to put his mouth to better use. He’ll even thank you for your gracious request.
Formaggio is next 💀
According to my JoJo compatriots from discord, he’s like the Optimus Prime of fuckboi’s so let’s ride that wave for a bit! LMAO
I hope it doesn’t come as a surprise that Formaggio is pretty shameless. He will send you a dick pic on Sunday morning before church and have the audacity to say “Just wanted to bless you real quick”.
@autumn-kouhai mentioned him giving his s/o sickly sweet pet names and I just have to agree.
Expect to be hit upside the head with: baby-boo, sugar plum, honey bunches, sweetums. I can imagine them becoming really ridiculous too like “the last piece of red velvet cake” or “cheddar bae biscuits from Red Lobster”
His catch phrase is “Got nudes?”
Send them, and he won’t be afraid to reply with something equally sexy.
Be warned though, he will stockpile whatever you send him and then be careless with his phone. If you don’t mind Illuso’s snoopy ass seeing your nudes then by all means, have at it. Otherwise, send them through snapchat, so they disappear later.
As far as La Squadra boyfriends go, he’s the most fun! Y’all don’t even go anywhere because man’s is broke. BUT, Formaggio knows how to have a good time without any need to spend money (my kind of dude tbh) you guys just crank up the tunes, dance, and get lit until the neighbors complain.
Formi is also the CEO of jokes/memes, and will have you in absolute tears almost always! I literally tell my friends that funny guys are so dangerous, don’t sleep on them! They will make you laugh until your panties drop, it’s magic, I swear. Formaggio has that same energy.
No matter how bad of a day his s/o is having, rest assured, he will draw the biggest laugh out of you.
Besides his fuckboi tendencies, his most redeeming quality is the fact that he’s super cool and fun to hang with. You’ll literally have a good time, always, because his energy is right! Very good vibes around this man, I swear! It’ll be exactly like dating your best friend, because essentially, he will be your bestie.
Formi has many moments of tenderness that aren’t sexually charged too—moments where the jokes stop and he’ll just rub your back or feet, this is usually when you aren’t feeling well and need some quiet.
However, Formaggio won’t let you mope all day, he’ll pull out the big guns and call you his “sweetie baby” and when you try to resist he’ll say “What, I’m just tryna show you some love.”
He’s a good dude lmao I’d date a guy like him irl 😭
Pesci stans wya??! Let’s get into this baby boy.
Pesci is boyfriend material, idgaf what anyone says.
He is pretty much the least problematic to be with among all of La Squadra, even more so than Risotto (don’t argue with me).
Pesci is hyper aware of your likes and dislikes and will literally go out of his way to make sure that you’re well and okay.
Arguments are basically nonexistent and if they occur it ain’t coming from his side.
I also think that Pesci has a lot of empathy, so when you’re going through something, he’s right there in the thick of it with you. If you’ve seen that meme that goes ‘when my gf is on her period it’s UterUS’ lmao that’s Pesci’s energy 100%.
Sometimes, he’s more of a lover and not a fight, that is perfectly okay!
However, if someone tries up his s/o, say farewell to Mr. Niceguy. He will defend your honor to his dying breath. And with you in his corner, trust me, he’s not going down.
A romantic at heart, Pesci will plan little date trips like picnics in the park or boat trips to Capri, actually, I’d like to point out that he excels in the art of date planning. If you’re the adventurous type, he’ll plan outings where you both will be more active, like biking through the city or renting a mop-ed and going sight-seeing.
Because Pesci has a sensitive stomach, he’s very much considerate of what you both put in your bodies. If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, this guy knows all about it and will cater to you perfectly.
A true gentleman through and through, he will never force himself on you, ever. In fact, he really doesn’t like engaging in anything sexual when you’re drunk or high, sorry if you’re into that!
Pesci is the kind of guy who keeps up with your favorite shows.
If ya’ll have similar taste in media or literature, he will immerse himself in it so that he can relate to you all the more.
If there’s anyone who will entertain anime-related discourse, no matter how nonsensical, it’s Pesci. And he isn’t just putting up with it, he’s actively engaging in the conversation so you are always heard and validated.
He’s an A+ boyfriend, that’s all I gotta say! Haters can stay mad :)
Goddamn Illuso... idk man.
I really feel like you have to have thick/tough skin to handle this guy, for various reasons.
The first being that Illuso can be a bit mean at first. He’ll push your buttons on purpose just to see what’ll make you tick. Will tease the living heck out of you, always, kind of a bully lmao but not to the extreme, it’s just his brand of humor—and the thing is, he won’t be mad when you dish it right back, so it’s cool.
Secondly, Illuso has big dick energy!!
I mean rightfully so, because he is indeed packing! But my word, he ain’t humble about it at all!
He is not above making jokes about ‘splitting you in half’. In fact all of his jokes have hidden, dirty undertones!
His affection is shown through speech mostly. Illuso will drop subtle innuendos and provocations, half to see you flustered and half because he wants you to know how much he wants you.
Illuso isn’t incredibly vocal about his feelings outside of ‘I’m tryna hit that thang’ but you won’t doubt that he loves you because Illuso doesn’t waste his own time.
If he’s spending his time with you, you can rest assured that it’s because he wants to.
Illuso is a voyeur and you’ll just have to understand/accept that and move on.
He loves watching you and will even creep over to your place through the mirror world just to hang or watch you do chores. Loves to surprise you and give you jump scares lmao it’ll make you a tad paranoid but it’s also fun.
Illuso is prone to random bouts of sweetness; it’s very sporadic, very touch-and-go.
One day, you’ll wake up to chocolates on your dresser or new shoes, lingerie, or makeup if you wear it. I imagine that if you’re low on funds, he will even help you buy your groceries that week.
It’ll surprise the hell out of you, but that’s just how Illuso is. He enjoys keeping you on your toes!
He’s prideful and smug as hell, so he will definitely expect a thank you, because even if he does it out of the kindness in his heart, he also wants to hear that you appreciate him
Same goes for the bedroom scene. Illuso loves making you vocal, it’s his favorite thing in the world, so he’ll make a game out of doing the things that get the biggest reaction out of you. Like I said, it's that big dick energy at work here, smh.
Sorbet and Gelato in a polyamorous relationship with you? Let’s get it!
We don’t get anything substantial about these two except that Sorbet follows the money, so these are all personal headcanons for how I see and write them.
Here’s the juice: when it comes to you as their s/o, these two are possessive as hell. You are theirs and that’s that on that! 😭 Don’t ask questions, just go with it.
Sorbet is the chill one of the duo. He can be a bit smug at times, but he’s mostly a laid back dude who doesn’t get bothered by much.
When it comes to you, Sorbet likes to spend quality time with you more than anything, and will ask you to cook for him at your place so he ain’t gotta spend money. Oh? Did I not mention that I kinda think of him as a cheapskate? Lmao cuz I do.
Sorbet will come by your place just to steal your coupons from the mail then head out; you’re not using ‘em so why should he let them go to waste?
Gelato is the complete opposite; personality wise, I headcanon him as a mix between Melone and Formaggio lmao
But it’s not as crazy as it sounds, he’s cute and outspoken like Melone, while maintaining a free-spirit like Formaggio. One quality that I like is that he’s quite devoted to you and Sorbet. If anyone crosses either of you, goodluck to them!
I like to think Gelato’s also just really boujee and high maintenance. He loves to pamper and be pampered. You and him tag-team Sorbet’s wallet and go on spa dates together at his expense (not that he ever really stood a chance)
While Sorbet is cool with just being in the same room as you, Gelato loves hugging/cuddling with you and Sorbet—will definitely fight for the middle spot between the two of you on the couch during movie nights.
He baby, so let him have it lol
In the bedroom, I would salute anyone with the guts to take the two of them on. They both lay down that work, period.
Sorbet gets his kicks from teasing and edging you (his sadistic side comes out a bit), while Gelato loves when you give him extra TLC. To put it short, they know how to take care of you, so there are no issues there.
Last but not least, Mr. Risotto Nero himself.
Man, idc on the lowest of keys, he seems a little bit like a grandpa to me
The type to sit at home and do crosswords, has a bird feeder in his yard and plays old Italian hits while washing the dishes. It’s very domestic 💀 (I find it cute, whatever!)
As a boyfriend, I can’t imagine him suddenly being spontaneous or outgoing unless you drag him out of his home/comfort zone.
Be patient with Mr. Nero, and he can come to surprise you
After a while, it won’t be just you dragging him out and about; one day he’ll ask you to come over and you’ll be greeted with a nice, traditional, homemade meal
Pay attention and you will notice him watching your face to see if you like his cooking 🥺
After seeing his fight with Doppio, I must admit that Risotto is very, very observant, almost scarily so.
I can totally picture him pointing out random things about his s/o that even they don’t know
One night, Risotto may come up to you and say “I talked to your neighbor about the dog, they’ll keep it inside now.” And you’re just staring like 😳 how did he know the barking was keeping you up at night????
He’s sweet, and will take good care of you as a boyfriend should.
Very good listener, won’t talk as much but will hang on to your every word, I promise. He could even recite it to you verbatim.
He’s a big dude, that ain’t news, so expect to be swallowed up in hugs and sometimes even picked up (as a tall girl myself, I simp!!!)
Gives A1 piggyback rides, lol
ALSO RISOTTO IS HUMBLE ASF!
Big dick energy, but on low volume 👏🏾 after all, he doesn’t need to do much talking, because a night with him is more than enough!
Listen babe, you better stretch, do some squats, and prep in whatever way you can before Mr. Nero gives you that work. 🤐
Lowkey a freak, but it’s well hidden behind his ‘quiet giant’ exterior
So, who are y'all dating? Personally, I’m going for Formaggio and Pesci hehe

Hello! Can you recommend any angsty sasusaku one shots or fics that end in fluff or smut? :)
Hi nonny :) Thanks for stopping by!
First of all, sorry for the wait. It took me awhile to go through my ffnet and ao3 fave lists and confirm if the fic did have a happy ending at least. Some here will end with fluff, some with smut, and some will be more subtle but still soft and happy.
So, I’m calling this list:
Angst with a Happy Ending 🍅🌸
My go to story when I’m in this mood is Heartbeat by letmeannoyyoutoday, which I have recommended here before. It’s long and detailed, and it will make you cry before it will make you smile ;)
Now, let’s get started:
A Blue Bathed Litany By: Elegies for Shiva  / @elegiesforshiva
Bad dreams are nothing new for any shinobi. But being comforted is, especially in a fashion as sensual as this. Angst. Fluff. Lots of lemons. [Rated M, complete]
🍅🌸🍅🌸🍅🌸
A Highly Contested Topic By: Annie Sparklecakes

You sit on the flimsy mattress beside your twin, your hand held tight in her own, both of your expressions contemplative as you try to figure out what the hell is going on. Across from you, Octavia sits on her own bed, looking at you both, a soft laugh slipping from her mouth. You and Clarke lift your gazes to her in tandem, and Clarke looks at Octavia with mild annoyance. “Something funny? Because I don't see anything humorous about this.”
“I’m laughing because I’m realizing just how much I missed the Twinadoes. It’s been so long since I’ve seen you both together.”
Clarke’s expression softens, her curiosity causing her to ask, “How long were you on Penance?”
“We call it Skyring. 10 years, good ones.”
You smile, remembering some of your better memories from Skyring. Cooking with Gabriel, chess with Orlando, braiding flowers into Echo and Hope’s hair. You whisper, “They were.”
Clarke turns to look at you in confusion, unaware of how long you’ve been apart. “You were there?”
“Not with Octavia, Diyoza, and Hope. We came later, the four of us: me, Gabriel, Echo, and Hope.”
“How long were you there?”
“Five years.”
Her jaw drops in shock, “It’s been five years for you?”
You nod and you see tears in her eyes. She drops your hand to pull you in a hug, and you're grateful for it, grateful to be back with your twin, even if it is in a jail cell. “Oh my god, la lune. I’m so sorry, we had no idea or we would have come sooner.”
You shake your head, pulling away to smile at her. “It’s not your fault, Clarke. It was only a few days for you, there’s no way you could have known.”
She looks at you, and you can tell she wants to know more, but she hesitates, not wanting to push you. You read her mind and look between her and Octavia. “It was hard at first. Really hard. The first few months...all I could think about was saving Bellamy and Octavia, and getting back to you and Madi. But over time, Gabriel, Echo, Hope, and Orlando wore me down. I started to warm up to them, and then one day I woke up and I realized that I hadn’t worried about the time at all the day before. I felt guilty about that at first, but once I stopped religiously counting down the days, time went faster after that. It wasn’t so bad in the end. We had peace, and we became a family, sharing meals and stories. And even though I missed both of you, and Bellamy, and Madi and the rest of our family, I was happy.”
Octavia and Clarke can sense that you have more to say, and Clarke reaches out to grab your hand again, prepared to console you. “And then we got here, to Bardo, and it was worse than I could have imagined. Because in the five years it took for us to play house on Skyring, Bellamy was killed here. I let myself relax too much, and he ended up dead. All those years of training...for nothing.”
Clarke squeezes your hand, and you glance at her before looking away, tears welling up in your eyes as you remember the loss you felt three months ago. “I lost it when I found out, which is why I can’t blame Echo for nearly crystallizing us all. She knew how hard all of this has been on us, and she tried to do what she thought was best to make things right again. She went about it the wrong way, but her heart was in the right place. Anyways, I do believe there are good people on this planet, but I know that Cadogan is not one of them. I want nothing more than to get the hell off Bardo. Nothing good has happened to me here, besides reuniting with all of you, and I just want to escape.”
“Me too.”
“Too bad my brother betrayed us to a man he just met.” Octavia sighs, turning her gaze to Clarke. “You know, I was just starting to understand you, but I guess it doesn't matter anymore. We’ll probably be dead soon anyways.”
Clarke’s brows pull together as she looks at Octavia, “Really? How so?”
“You have Madi, I have Hope. I'd do anything to keep her safe.” She scoffs a little, tears welling up in her eyes, and you and Clarke both look at her with concern. “What’s wrong?”
“A couple of days ago, she was just our little girl. Now she's messed up like the rest of us.”
You and Clarke both stand from your bed and move over to Octavia’s, splitting apart to sit on either side of her. Octavia takes one of your hands and one of Clarke’s, and the three of you sit together in silence, sorrow hanging over all of you as you think of the tragedies you’ve all experienced. And as the three of you sit together, the door to your cell slides open and Bellamy steps inside, looking different from the last time you saw him. His hair is cut and his beard is gone, his face clean shaven for the first time in a long time. It reminds you of the Bellamy you first met on the Ark, in more ways than one. Because this Bellamy is just as much of a stranger to you as that Bellamy was.
Bellamy walks inside the room, his white robes flowing, flanked by two guards on either side of him. You look at him in shock and cock your head to the side, masking your hurt with your anger. “You need back up to talk to us now?”
He turns to glance at the guards behind him, waving them out of the room. “It’s okay.”
As they step out of the room and the door slides shut behind them, the three most important women in Bellamy Blake’s life stand, a wall of strength and anger as they look at him. You are the first to break the silence, looking at your fiance in disbelief. “It’s about time. Bellamy, what the hell was that?”
Before he can answer, Clarke adds, “I have been racking my brain, trying to figure out how you telling Cadogan the truth about the Flame helps us. You know what I've come up with? It doesn't.”
Bellamy’s voice is soft, sounding conflicted as he shakes his head slightly. “I couldn't lie to him.”
Octavia snaps, “Really? Why not?”
He glances over at her, then Clarke, then you, relaying his reasoning on his change in behavior. “I had an experience, something that changed me to my core, something that explains why we're still here and where we're going. It came to me in a vision. Mom was there.”
Octavia gives him a weird look, unconvinced, and he continues, “The Shepherd led me to her, and there was a light, and it was beautiful and warm and peaceful, and I chose it. And when I opened my eyes, the storm had passed, just like that.”
You, Clarke, and Octavia share a bewildered look, and you look at your fiance, your anger softening a little as you take in his hurt expression. “Bellamy, I love you, you know that, but this sounds...crazy.”
He turns to you, his eyes widening slightly as he takes in your confused expression. “Natshana, I know how this sounds, but it’s real.”
You flinch a little when he uses the nickname, your brain struggling to see the man you love in the disciple in white that stands before you. He sees you flinch, and a look of hurt passes over his face before he turns to look at all of you again. “A war is coming, the Last War we will ever fight. Win it, and we become the light.”
Clarke snaps, “Is that what the cult leader told you?”
She turns and starts to pace, as Octavia steps forwards and adds, “Did he tell you what happens if we lose?”
“We won't.”
Octavia shakes her head, telling him anyways. “We turn into crystal, wiped out like Medusa, turning people into stone. It's the end of everything.”
“Not everything, just us.”
“Just us?” You look at him in confusion. “Bellamy, everything we have done, we have done to survive. To help our people survive. And now you’re willing to risk everything on Cadogan’s insistence that we’ll win the Last War?”
He gives you a conflicted look, giving you a flash of hope that maybe he isn't gone forever. But then he pushes it away and looks over all of you, his voice growing louder and more insistent as he tries to convince all of you that him following Cadogan is not as weird as you think it is. “If I told you the AI that destroyed the Earth was storing our minds in the City of Light, would that be any more believable? What about a group of astronauts turning themselves into gods by transferring their minds into the bodies of their own followers in order to live forever?”
Exasperated, Clarke sighs, stopping her pacing to turn to Bellamy and throw her hands up in frustration. “Okay, yes! We've seen our share of crazy, but that doesn't change the fact that fighting some war to become the light is as ridiculous as the clothes you're wearing.”
He pulls a face, hurt by her comment on his clothes, but he pushes past it. “There's one way to find out: tell me where the Flame is.”
Clarke’s denial is firm and resolute. “No.”
“Clarke, yesterday, you were offering it up in exchange for safe passage.”
“Yesterday, I was bluffing! I made a deal to save my twin and my friends, knowing damn well I had no intention of following through with it. Today, I'm standing in front of my best friend, who I thought was dead, and I don't even recognize him.”
His expression is hurt, tears springing into his eyes as he steps closer to all of you, his gaze locked on Clarke. “I am the same person who helped bring you back from the dead, who refused to give up on you. There is so much more at stake here than you know.”
He turns to you, making his final, teary eyed plea to you. “I know you don't believe in transcendence, but I'm telling you it's real, and I am asking you to believe in me.”
You glance at Clarke and Octavia, their expressions letting you know that believing in Bellamy means believing in Cadogan. Something the three of you are determined not to do. Because even though you love Bellamy with all that you are, and you want to believe him, you know that this isn’t right. He betrayed all of you in the blink of an eye for a man that he thought was crazy back on Earth, and you’re worried just how far his devotion to Cadogan will go. You can tell something happened to Bellamy, something changed him, and you’re willing to listen to him to find out what that is, but you’re not willing to support Cadogan.
Which is why you turn back to Bellamy, trying to ignore the tears in his eyes, your voice sounding soft, but regretful. “Even if you're right, even if everything you're saying is true, we will not help that man start his war.”
He looks from you to Clarke to Octavia, seeing if they agree with you. When they make no move towards him, or say nothing to dispute your claim, he shakes his head and looks down at his feet. You can see him visibly recompose himself before he looks back up at Clarke. “Tell me where the Flame is.”
Octavia locks eyes with her brother, asking, “Or what?”
“I’m trying to save you! All of you, but if you don't tell me where it is, they will execute all of you. Please let me help.”
Your eyes widen at the word execute. It's one thing for the three of you to speculate that you're facing death, it’s another to have Bellamy confirm that they're ready to kill all of you if you won’t give them what they want. And despite the shaky intake of breath that you hear Clarke take, her answer to Bellamy’s request is unwavering. “Go float yourself.”
You turn and step back towards Clarke, the sadness in the room shifting to anger again. Octavia gives Bellamy a disappointed look before she turns towards you and Clarke, all of you turning your backs on Bellamy, standing together and comforting each other, waiting for him to leave. But instead of leaving, he sighs and calls out, “Guards.”
The three of you hesitantly turn towards the door, watching as four guards step into the room. Bellamy looks them all over before motioning towards Clarke. “Take this one to M-Cap.”
Clarke gives him an incredulous look, “What?!”
The guards close in on Clarke, and the two of you exchange a panicked look as they grab her arm and start to pull her towards the door. You jump towards her, trying to grab the hand that is reaching out for you. You’re all too familiar with the pain of M-Cap, and it’s not a pain that you want Clarke to experience. “La lune!”
“Clarke!”
As your hand closes around hers, you are pulled backwards by your other arm, one of the other guards in the room stopping you. You turn and punch him, getting him off of you, trying again to run after Clarke. As she is pulled out of the door, you hear Octavia protesting, but she is stopped in place by her brother. You run after your twin, barely making it past Bellamy before you are grabbed from behind and yanked backwards, onto the ground. One of the guards pins your arms to the floor while the other grabs you by the front of your shirt and punches you, pain exploding behind your left eye and cheekbone. They hit you again, blood blooming across your tongue as you accidentally bite down from the force. A third punch smashes your nose, and you're sure you can feel blood trickling down to your mouth, though it’s hard to think much past the pain.
You can hear Octavia yelling at her brother and Bellamy yelling commands at the guards, but your brain doesn't process them, too focused on the pain in your face. You feel your wrists being released, the weight of someone’s body leaving you, your body now free to roll onto your hands and knees and spit black blood onto the stone floor. You feel a hand on your shoulder and you flinch before Octavia’s soft voice whispers, “La lune, are you okay?”
“I’m fine.” You spit again, pulling yourself to your feet, your anger flaring white hot as you turn towards Bellamy, your earlier sympathy now gone. “What the hell was that?”
He looks over your face, at the blood dripping from your nose, the bruise blooming along your skin, and you can see a flash of worry cross his features as he urges, “You shouldn’t fight them, the Shepherd authorized them to-”
You cut him off, your voice loud, “I don’t care! Bellamy, what are you doing? Letting guards beat me up, sending Clarke to be tortured? This isn’t you!”
He shakes his head, another hurt look on his face. Five minutes ago, you wanted to comfort him through his conflict, hear about what he went through. But right now, your mind thinking of your twin in danger, a danger he sent her to, you want to hit him. You want to punch those puppy dog eyes until they swell shut. But you keep your cool and control your anger as he shakes his head. “It’s not torture.”
You let out a short laugh, pushing your hair out of the way to show him the scar on the right side of your face that runs beneath your level two symbols and into your hairline. “It is if you fight it, and you know damn well she will.”
“All she has to do is tell us where the Flame is, and we’ll let her go. We’ll let you go.”
“No way in hell are we going to give Cadogan what he wants. The Bellamy I love would be right beside me, opposed to doing anything for the crazed cult leader that’s so determined to start a war.”
Bellamy shakes his head, “He’s not a cult leader, and he doesn’t want to start a war. He wants us to transcend, to have real peace.”
“Do you hear yourself? War has never brought us peace, Bellamy. Only death and pain. But let’s say that Cadogan is right, and we do win this war and transcend. Torturing your friends, your family, people you love, watching us be locked up and potentially executed is not the way to do it. Doing the right thing the wrong way isn’t doing the right thing. You know that.”
“I’m trying to save all of you.”
You shake your head at him, in disbelief that the two of you are on opposite sides. After everything with Pike, you were sure that you’d never be on opposite sides again, especially not for something this big, yet here you are. You don't have the energy to argue with him right now, because he clearly believes in Cadogan, or wants to believe in Cadogan, and you’re sure that nothing you say will change his mind. So you turn away from him, shaking your head in disappointment, angrily swiping blood from your nose before muttering, “Get out.”
“La lune, please-”
You spin around and cut him off, your voice loud. “Don’t call me that! My family calls me la lune, and as long as you’re wearing those robes and worshipping the Shepherd, you are not my family, you are my enemy.”
You wait for his face to fall before you snap, “Now get out!”
This time, he obliges, turning away from you quickly, knocking on the door to alert the guards on the other side. As soon as he’s out of your cell and the door is closed, you collapse onto your flimsy mattress, your anger finally giving way to your tears. Octavia crosses the room and sits down beside you, the two of you wrapping your arms around each other and crying as you try to come to terms with who Bellamy is now.
-
A few hours after Clarke is dragged from the cell, your door opens again. You and Octavia stand, expecting it to be her, but instead it is a group of disciples, all of them pointing weapons at you as they demand, “Back against the wall, hands out in front of you!”
You and Octavia do as they say, stepping backwards and pressing your backs to the wall as you hold out your hands. A guard walks over to you and slips a pair of cuffs onto your wrists, a thick metal bar holding your arms apart, before they grab your arm and drag you to the door. You and Octavia are dragged through the halls of Bardo and led to the Stone Room, much to your surprise. As the doors open, you see that your friends are already here, lined up against the wall. Everyone looks at you in surprise, now more injured than the last time they saw you, but you shake off their worry, letting them know you’re okay.
Octavia is led towards the end of the line, pushed between Hope and Niylah, while you are stopped at the opposite end, pushed between Gabriel and Jordan. Another disciple walks over and places a helmet at your feet before taking one down to Octavia, all of you now standing in a row with disciple helmets nearby, waiting for what’s next. Two disciples stand near the stone, and two more stand near the door, everyone waiting in silence, but Gabriel can't resist the urge to whisper, “Are you okay?”
“Looks worse than it is.” You smirk at him, trying to ease his tension, and he smiles back, right before one of the disciples snaps, “No talking!”
Less than a minute later, the doors to the room slide open. Two disciples stop just outside the door as two more walk inside, taking up their posts. Behind them is Cadogan, followed by Bellamy and the man that is likely replacing Anders, whose name you don't know. Behind them is Clarke, unrestrained, her eyes searching the line of prisoners until her eyes lock with you. Her expression drops at the sight of all of you restrained, but it drops further when she sees the bruise already darkening around your eye. “Why are they still restrained? We had a deal.”
You look at her, your eyes glancing at Cadogan, who has taken up a spot in front of the stone. “Clarke, what is this? What deal?”
“He releases all of us, and I take him to the Flame.”
Bill turns around, his gaze falling to Clarke. “You'll forgive me if I have trust issues where you're concerned.”
He turns to look at the man replacing Anders. “Remove the restraints one at a time. Any violence will be met with lethal force.”
Bellamy looks at you, his expression a warning as he addresses your group. “No one is getting violent. It's a good thing, you're being released.”
The man moves down to Miller first, slipping off his restraints before motioning down to the helmet on the floor. “Helmet on to protect your memory.”
Miller leans down and grabs the helmet, turning to look at Clarke as the Anomaly powers up beside him. “You good with this?”
She nods, and he pulls the helmet on and allows himself to be led into the Anomaly. All down the line the others are unrestrained and led into the green glow behind Miller: Hope, then Octavia, Niylah. The man skips over Raven, who gives him a strange look, and moves on to Echo, freeing the former spy with a guarded look. “Sending the fighters first, is that it?”
He shrugs a little, “Can't be too careful.”
After Echo is Jordan, and you put your hands out after him, waiting your turn, but the man in front of you steps back, leaving you, Gabriel, and Raven behind, still restrained. Cadogan moves over to the stone and types in a code, the Anomaly closing behind Jordan, leaving the rest of you behind. You glance over at Clarke in confusion, wondering if this was part of the plan, and she gives you a look of worry, letting you know that it’s not. She steps towards Cadogan, a glare on her face. “What are you doing?”
“Ensuring you keep your part of the deal.”
Raven shifts closer to you, glaring at Cadogan as she moves, her lip curling into a sneer. “He didn't send them to Sanctum.”
“Correct.” He turns to look at her, smiling at her, and you want nothing more than to launch yourself at him and wipe the smile from his face. “And thank you for demonstrating why I didn't send you with them.”
Gabriel clicks his tongue, his gaze shifting to his feet before moving back up to Cadogan. “We know how the stone works.”
“Also correct.” You shake your head, confused, because you don't have knowledge of the stone in the way that Gabriel and Raven do. If anything, Echo and Hope know more about the stone than you, meaning they should be here too. Clarke seems to think the same thing, because she looks over at you before her eyes lock with Cadogan’s. “My twin doesn't know about the stone, so why is she here?”
The realization hits you as you look at her, the worry on her face to have you still among the dangers of Bardo. You shift your gaze to the cult leader and deadpan, “I’m an insurance policy. If you don't get him the Flame, I'm assuming that I'm the first to go.”
Bill turns his condescending smile to you, confirming your suspicions. “Another correct answer.”
You glare at him, your mind on your friends and not your safety. “Where are they?”
“They're safe, as I promised they would be. I said nothing about releasing them on Sanctum.”
Clarke turns on Bellamy, her anger radiating off of her in waves. “You knew about this?”
Bellamy looks at her, lost, clearly unaware of Bill’s plans, which the Shepherd confirms. “He doesn't know where they are, only I do. I told you, Clarke, I don't trust you. I do, however, trust the love you have for your friends and your twin, and once I have the Key and the Last War begins, they'll all be freed. At which point, each of you will be welcome to fight alongside us, and if you choose not to, well, we'll save you anyway. That is what we mean when we say, ‘for all mankind’.”
He turns, eyes moving over to the new Anders. “Doucette, please release the others, so we can retrieve the Key.”
Doucette walks over to Raven and pulls off her restraints as Cadogan once again opens the Anomaly, this time to Sanctum. Raven leans down to grab her helmet, and Doucette walks over to you next. You stick out your arms, waiting for your freedom, your brain already contemplating all the ways you’re going to get Clarke and the others out of this, when Bill’s voice calls out, “Not her.”
You look around the disciple to stare at the cult leader in shock. “What?”
“Your restraints will remain on, Miss Griffin. You killed 10 disciples in our oxygen farm, attacked First Disciple Anders before his death, and have assaulted countless guards since arriving on Bardo, two of them earlier today. I trust you even less than I trust Clarke, which is why you will remain restrained and at my side.”
From across the room, Bellamy speaks for the first time since your friends were sent away, his expression concerned as he looks at his leader. “Sir, I don't think that’s really necessary.”
“And I think it is. I’m sure you're aware of what she’s capable of more than any of us.” Bellamy’s expression drops a little, his mind clearly playing through an assortment of memories in which you fight or kill anyone that gets in your way. Cadogan notes his expression, stating with a nod, “That is why I’m keeping her restrained.”
You roll your eyes and drop your hands, accepting that, for now, your restraints will stay on. You're hesitant to push Cadogan in this moment, when everything is so tense and you’re surrounded by a room full of guards. You’re less concerned about your own safety and more concerned about the others, not wanting to do anything that’ll put Clarke or your friends in danger. You glance over at your twin, and you can tell that she wants to argue, but you shake your head at her, telling her you’re fine, you’ll be okay, and that none of this is as bad as it seems. You see her sigh a little before accepting the message, leaning down to pick up her own helmet.
You grab your helmet as Gabriel is freed, and Cadogan turns and begins to give orders. “Disciples, I want most of you ahead of us. Weapons hot, remain in ghost mode, and take down anyone that is armed. Bellamy and Doucette will go ahead of me and the troublesome twin, and then Gabriel, Raven, and Clarke will bring up the rear, along with the remaining disciples. Is that clear?”
Everyone mumbles their assent and agreement, and you are pushed across the room, over to Cadogan’s side. You glare as you look at him, Bellamy moving past the two of you to stand in front of you, and you shift your glare to the back of his head. Because he barely fought for you. He seems more than content to leave you chained up like an animal. You hope he can feel your anger as Cadogan directs everyone to pull their helmets on, which you do clumsily, thanks to your restraints, and you hope Bellamy can feel your anger when you all step into the Anomaly and come out the other side on Sanctum.
Except, instead of appearing in Gabriel’s tunnel under his camp, you’re in the palace, surrounded by armed guards. Russell is sitting on a throne made of skulls, wearing Grounder clothes, and you look around in confusion as you reach up to tug your helmet off. Clarke does the same thing, speaking the thought on all of your minds as you look around the room in confusion. “What the hell happened here?”
Murphy, who you didn't notice until this moment, is sitting across from Russell, his hands restrained, a chessboard in front of him. He smiles a little as he takes in the arrival of your group, but it drops at Clarke’s question. He glances briefly at Russell before deadpanning, “Oh, gee. Where to begin.”
You look around the room again, at the chaos that has apparently ensued since your departure, and you glance over at Clarke, wondering if it was like this when she left. But given the expression on her face and the confused look that she turns towards you, it wasn't. Which means your people managed to ruin not just Bardo, but Sanctum too. You can only hope that things here aren't that bad, though as you look towards Russell again, you're not sure that’s the case.
But nothing can be as bad as your time on Bardo, right?

Disclaimer: I’ve only ever had very mild panic attacks so I’m going to use my own experiences to write this, but I do understand that they can be very severe and I’m not in any way trying to romanticize anything at all. I love you, stay safe <3
-------------------------
“Hey bug, you ready to come home?” You sighed, realizing that summer was ending and you would be having to go back to Alaska for school. It hadn’t snuck up on you, but some part of you had hoped that you’d get to stay with your brother forever.
“I guess…” You mumbled back, not wanting to hurt your parents but also not wanting to go back.
“You’re all set to fly out in a few days, we can’t wait to see you!” Your mom exclaimed. You could hear the excitement in her voice which only broke your heart even more. The familiar feeling began to bubble up in your chest, making it seem like you couldn’t breathe in all the way, like something was taking up space in your lungs preventing you from getting enough oxygen. This hadn’t happened all summer, not since you came to live with Rudy. It had been so long since you felt it, you almost forgot the feeling altogether.
“Sweetie? You still there?” Your mom’s voice brought you out of your own head and back into the real world, where a few minutes of silence had passed.
“Yeah, yeah I’m here. I’ll see you soon. Love you guys.” You quickly ended the conversation, wanting to get as far away from your phone as possible, as your mind assimilated it with the panic you were feeling.
This time, you were able to keep yourself calm.
--
“Baby, do you really have to leave?” Your boyfriend asked, his arms sliding around your waist, leaving goosebumps in their wake. The feeling of his skin on yours always ignited a fire within you, one you didn’t want to put out. You leaving in a few days felt like a storm threatening to wash away the wildfire the two of you had created together.
“Yeah… I have to go back to school, my brother is gonna be filming season two of his show in Charleston, I’d have no one to stay with…” You mumbled into his chest, soaking in his scent, aching to remember every piece of him. Part of you wanted to believe that a long-distance relationship with him would work but the rest of you knew that it wasn’t fair to either of you.
“Go to school here, with us! You could stay with me!” One of your best friends chimed in. A spark of hope lit up in your stomach, maybe you could stay. But then, like clockwork, that same feeling from earlier began to slither its way through your body. Your mind raced to all the things you’d be leaving behind, all the friends you had back home that you hadn’t seen in months.
But as your mind raced and you sat with your new friends, and boyfriend (something you never thought you’d get back home), you realized the people in this room meant more to you than the people back home, who were only still friends with you because they didn’t have anyone else to be friends with. That still didn’t keep the panic at bay, but once again, you were able to keep yourself calm.
--------------
“Roo, I wanna talk to you about something…” You said, coming into his room that night.
“What’s up kid?” He asked, watching you sit down next to him on his bed. The way you twiddled your thumbs and chewed on your lips told him you were nervous about something, his mind racing to find out what it could be. The energy in the room shifted, and it was like all the oxygen had been sucked out of the room. Taking a big gulp, you started trying to verbalize your thoughts, even though it felt like you couldn’t breathe.
“So… I was thinking- maybe- I… I could stay here with my friends and go to school here. She said she’d- she’d talk to her mom and ask if it was ok. But like, I would- I would need your help talking to mom and dad because I don’t want to hurt their feelings, but I really- really don;t want to go back home…” You stumbled out, hoping that he would understand what you had just word vomited at him. Slowly, you began to feel the burn of tears coming to your eyes, and desperately you tried to hold them back.
“You want to stay here? How come?” He asked. He sat up, coaxing you into his arms cause he knows it calms you down. You laid your head on his chest and kept trying to take deep breaths as he stroked your hair.
“I feel more understood by the people I’ve met here than I do by anyone in that stupid little town…” You whispered, “I’ve gotten closer to them in 3 months than I did to anyone back home in 16 years, Rudy. I have no one... no one real anyway.”
“So you want to stay here in LA?” He asked again and you nodded. The sound of his voice was distant, sounding miles away. You did your best to focus on your breathing but that focus was quickly slipping away as your breathing became more sporadic and uneven. It was as if something was sitting on your chest, preventing you from getting enough air.
“I’ll talk to mom and dad and see what they say. Kiddo, I need you to focus on your breathing ok? Focus on taking a deep breath all the way in and breathing all the way out.” He continued to run his fingers through your hair as you gasped in deep breaths and let the tears fall down your face. Slowly, the room started opening back up and even though the tears still ran down your face and your hands shook like an earthquake, it got a little easier to breathe.
“That’s it, just like that,” He cooed. You sighed at the sound of his voice, remembering when you used to get these all the times before Rudy left home. After he was gone, they picked up even more and your mom and dad just didn’t quite know how to ground you like Rudy did. He was always there to protect you, it was a kick in the gut when he left you. But here he was, calming you down.
-----------------------------
Rudy sat up in the living room, the next morning. You were still asleep, somewhat exhausted from last night's events. The phone rang and he took a deep breath, hoping for nothing more than to be able to get you what you want.
“Hey Rudy! How have you been?” Your guys’ mom answered and he smiled, hearing the happiness in her voice.
“Hey mom, is dad around?” He asked and heard shuffling on the other end. Suddenly his dad's voice sounded from the line and they got a little lost in simple conversation. Rudy then remembered exactly why he called them and got down to business.
“So I wanna talk to you about Y/n…” He trailed off and your parents went a little quiet. He started to feel the sweat gather on his palms and gulped down the nervous lump in his throat, noticing the shift of energy in the call.
“Is she ok? Did something happen to her?” Your dad spewed out, worried that something might have happened to his little girl, but he shook his head before remembering they couldn’t see him.
“No no no she’s fine, but I know you guys are gonna be a little skeptical about what I’m going to tell you,” He sighed before continuing on, “ She wants to stay here for the school year…”
The line went quiet. He could tell his parents were shocked, the fact that their daughter didn’t want to come home was a lot to process and they had no idea what the reasoning behind it was.
“What do you mean? She doesn’t want to come home?” The woman gasped, feeling tears well up in her eyes.
“She’s ade some really awesome friends, people she’s closer to than anyone she is with at home. She’s already lined up a place to stay while I’m shooting. I think you’d really like them actually. It’s one of her best friends and her mom, they’re really nice! I think you guys should change Y/n’s ticket so that you guys can come down here…” He rushed out, hoping they understood him, but he was met with silence once again.
“Uhm… We’re not making any promises, but we’ll come down there so we can talk about this as a family…” His dad said and he nodded with a smile, agreeing.
----------------------
You woke up feeling the events from last night lingering in your shoulders and neck.
It was a familiar ache that only ever happened after an attack, a muscle tightness that made it feel as though you’d been sleeping on concrete for the past week. Doing your best to roll out the soreness, you walked into the kitchen to see Rudy with a look on his face that you couldn’t read.
“So… I talked to mom and dad, and they’re gonna come here so we can talk about you staying!” He smiled and you felt like a little bit of the weight you’d been feeling lifted.
“When are they coming?”
“They’ll be here tomorrow,” He said, coming over and hugging me tightly, “We’ll get you where you need to be kid, promise!”
----------------------
The tension in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife. Your parents sat across from you and your brother, silently. You could tell they were deep in thought, but it didn’t help the shaking that began to take over your hands.
All you wanted was for them to understand. They weren’t always great at that…
“Mom, are you gonna say anything?” You finally asked, wincing when she let out a sign.
“Y/n, I just don’t like the idea of you living with someone you just met three months ago....” She said finally and your dad nodded along with her.
“You don’t understand though. I’m closer to them than I am to anybody back home! I know her and I know that she cares about me, her mom cares about me! When I wasn’t here, I was there. I’m practically already a part of the family! She’s had me and Rudy over for dinner so many times I lost count. She’s hosted dinner parties for the cast because she wants to get to know the people close to Rudy and I because she cares! She’s like a second mom to me. And I love you guys, I really do. But I’m just not happy at home! It doesn’t feel like home anymore. This… This feels like home.” You stood up, pacing back and forth, your voice gradually raising to try and hold in the tears that threatened to fall.
“Baby…”
“Momma…” You whispered pleadingly, looking her in the eyes for the first time since she’d arrived and finally letting the tears fall. Rudy was next to you in seconds, pulling you into his arms, doing his best to keep you grounded so you didn’t fall off the edge.
The silence was filled by your sniffles and Rudy’s whispers into your ear. Your parents looked at each other with a knowing look in their eyes. It was obvious that they were not your home anymore, and no matter how much it broke their hearts they knew they had to let you go.
“Y/n, honey, we want to meet the family first, but we think you should stay. We want you to be happy bug, and if this is where you’re happy, then this is where you should be!” Your mom finally said, coming over and wrapping you and your brother in a tight hug. Your dad followed in suit and soon enough you started to feel yourself calm down.

Starconches and Windwheel Asters | Chapter 1: A Bet Sealed
In which Childe and Lumine have a talk on the beach and make a bet...
Okay, I am so sorry in advance, but this one is painstakingly long. I sincerely did not mean for it to be this long, but it's hopefully fluffy enough to make up for it. These first few chapters are going to need fluff. And... and I mean it. Seriously. Childe might seem a little OOC and all over the place, as will this chapter. Hopefully, I managed to capture how scattered Childe's thoughts are. Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Full fic below the cut!

"Hey, girlie, hold still!"
Those first four words made Lumine's heart thump in her chest.
She will never forget the day she met that Harbinger, the one she was supposed to call her enemy. His codename was Tartaglia, though he went by Childe. He was cunning, bold, and sly. The first day they met, Childe wasn't hesitant to reveal his intentions to her and Paimon. He was here on Fatui business, to fulfill the will of the Tsaritsa.
Even then, Lumine fell.
It wasn't a subtle type of thing, either. Everyone who traveled by Lumine's side noticed that, as soon as she returned to the inn they were staying in, she was giggling to herself... almost on cloud nine.
Kaeya was one of the first to notice it. He had left Mondstadt to ensure Lumine safe travels throughout Teyvat; and, since there was no calvary to be the captain of with the Knights, he wasn't exactly "needed", per se. Besides, Jean and Diluc were still there; surely, the Dandelion Knight and the Darknight Hero would be able to take care of any issues.
Kaeya could easily see through Lumine. He was there when the encounter between Lumine and Childe first occurred. As soon as the ginger gestured her to follow, the knight could tell how smitten Lumine was. And, while the one she happened to fall for was a Fatui, Kaeya wasn't entirely against it. He was glad to see her mind taken off the whereabouts of her brother, after all.
Barbara was the second. She was one of the members of the team to easily read the faces of everyone, whether they seem troubled or happy, or in this case, madly in love. She was hesitant that Childe was the one to sweep Lumine off her feet, but the nun shrugged it off and decided to support Lumine.
Whenever the young Harbinger was spotted nearby and approached Lumine, Barbara and Kaeya weren't hesitant to push her towards the object of her affections. They gave subtle tips, hoping the Traveler would catch on and at least attempt to make a move.
Of course, though, Lumine's comrades weren't the only ones to notice.
Childe was, of course, very aware of the Outlander's affection towards him. In fact, he somewhat formulated it. He heard of the "new girl" in Teyvat who saved Mondstadt and learned she was heading towards Liyue. Since he was already stationed there for the Rite of Descension, he decided that it was best to gain the trust of her and her acquaintances before pulling the rug out from underneath them when the time was right.
He had done this before. He would make many swoon for him and gain the information, or the Mora, that he needed. After all, he was Tartaglia, the 11th Harbinger. This kind of work was as natural to him as breathing was.
Thus, he decided to pull the strings on this strange yet powerful visitor...
"Running... errands?" Lumine asked.
"Yup! Exactly that." The ginger teen was leaning against the bar the inn had owned, his blue eyes filled with playfulness. "I've seen how your little tour group over here is faring, and I couldn't help but notice the lack of ingredients and materials you have in that inventory of yours." When he said that, he gestured towards Paimon, glancing at the floating being. Everyone else did the same, glaring at the mascot.
"Hey! What did Paimon do?!" She squealed.
"You ate most of the Sunsettias in the middle of the night?" Amber said.
"You also used our Mora to buy an entire feast for yourself..." Noelle added.
"Paimon, maybe Lumine was right... maybe it's time you become emergency food." Beidou finished chugging one of her jugs of alcohol, slamming it onto the table next to her, and smiling almost wickedly at Paimon.
Paimon was in the midst of a panic, waving her arms around. "No, no! P-Paimon meant to share it with everyone! Really! Honest! P-p-pinkie promise!" At that, Childe let out a hearty laugh.
"Well, as you can see, your team is desperate for some supplies." He looked back at Lumine, who was watching the fiasco take place directly in front of her. She was giggling at the scene, and the sound of that laughter slightly made the Harbinger's heart flutter.
I'm sorry, my heart did what? Childe tried to snap himself out of it. We're here on a mission. We have to find the Gnosis and hand it over to the Tsaritsa... this is just the usual seduction routine we've used before. Stay on track, Tartaglia!
He cleared his throat, continuing. "So, ojou-chan..." He leaned closer to the girl, flashing that signature smile that he always wore. He could tell Lumine was swooning just from the slight red that started spreading on the tips of her ears. "...how about it? You and I can round up some food. After all, I do have lots of Mora, and you are the team's leader. You should know what everyone wants." The blonde started to ponder on it, weighing her options carefully. "Oh, and you need to ditch the small child."
"HEY!"
Paimon let out a loud yelp, taking offense to the last-minute comment that Childe tacked on to his proposition. She angrily huffed, looking to Lumine and telling her to turn down Childe's offer, because it was "not fair to Paimon" and Childe was "super untrustworthy". The ginger reiterated his proposal, putting extra emphasis on the "ditch Paimon" condition, and Lumine had her mind made up.
"Alright. I should be fine around three."
"LUMINE!"
Paimon continued to throw a hissy fit, whining about how she has to come with Lumine because, without her help, Lumine wouldn't be able to hold the food. Even then, Lumine still confirmed that she made up her mind.
This was working smoothly for Childe. He would be able to get Lumine, the foolish girl, alone. No Paimon or teammate could get in between the two of them. He would easily be able to squeeze out all of the information he needed. And, if the time came, maybe the two of them could've even had a sparring match. Oh, how fired up he was just to cross blades with the Traveler.
However, he then realized that it wasn't up to just Lumine to make this decision...
"Alone? With a Fatui?" Amber spoke up, having an obvious opposition to this outing. "Traveler, with all due respect, you may be the Honorary Knight, but he's a Harbinger! You can't trust him that easily. Remember what happened with the Fatui in Mondstadt?"
Lumine looked up at the Pyro Archer and smiled nervously, correcting her statement. "I mean... if we are being technical here, it was mostly the Abyss that was involved with the Stormterror issue."
"And Venti?" The girl responded, crossing her arms. "You told me that La Signora harmed him pretty bad. Signora is also a Harbinger. I don't know what she did to Venti," Amber said, crossing her arms and standing firm, "but I know that it was bad. All Fatui are the same, especially when it comes to the Harbingers. You can't trust them--especially not one like this guy." She glared at Childe, who just flashed a smile her way.
Childe was used to this by now. When he first got promoted to being a Harbinger, everyone that used to be close to him stood far away. Not even his fellow Harbingers could trust them--in the Fatui, you had to learn to trust no one but yourself. Because the Fatui was a place for those who were used to scheming and lying for the sake of the Tsaritsa. That was what he signed up for, anyway.
The archer continued, suggesting that Lumine at least take someone with her, or let them tag along from behind. She claimed it was safer that way so that Childe wouldn't try any "funny business." "You can take Kaeya with you, or even Lisa," she suggested. "Anyone would be fine... just please, don't go on your own with him."
"Well..." The Traveler looked around at the people who were gathered near her. They all seemed to be nodding their heads in agreement, and she felt the atmosphere became much tenser than it was minutes before. "...um, if that's the case, then--"
"Actually!"
One person raised their hand from amidst the group. The Calvary Captain himself, Kaeya, stood up from his seat and approached Lumine from behind, patting her on the shoulder.
"Lumine is more capable than we would like to think. I think she'll be fine," the blue-haired man stated. He made it clear to Lumine that he was on her side--he already knew of her little "crush", anyway, and was willing to play the wingman. "She's strong enough to defeat Stormterror. Who's to say that she can't deal with one lousy Harbinger?" Kaeya chuckled, turning to the rest of his friends and teammates. From the crowd, another figure emerged, standing right beside Lumine.
"Mhm! I think she'll be fine, too!" Barbara clung onto Lumine's arm, backing up Kaeya's stance on the matter. "She's able to harness both Anemo and Geo now, and she's already proven how strong she is in Mondstadt! I know she'll be okay!" The two Mondstadt citizens glanced at each other, nodding their heads in mutual agreement. Truly, those two were on the same wavelength.
"But... but Paimon doesn't trust him!" Paimon shouted out, zooming across the room and staring Childe right in the eyes. "You can see it in his eyes... yeah, like Kaeya said! His eyes... they're suspicious!" Ironically enough, Kaeya pushed Paimon away from Childe, gesturing her to back down.
Kaeya and Barbara gave Lumine the thumbs up, almost as if to say that they would take care of the others and that it was best for the two of them to be on their way. So, catching onto their cue, Lumine coughed and looked up at Childe.
"W-well, n-now that I think of it," she stuttered, trying to smoothly change the topic. "I just realized that I am... not busy right now?" She tilted her head towards the exit to the inn, and Childe smiled softly. He understood clearly.
"Ah... then, shall we head out?" The ginger offered his arm to the girl, and she took it with glee. "Well, then, I'll be taking oujo-chan out now!"
"Bring her back home before dinner!" Beidou called out, gaining a chuckle from Childe. "Or else..."
"Yeah, yeah! I hear ya, Miss Pirate," he laughed. Looking down at the blonde, he smiled. "Now then, shall we get going, Miss?"
Oh, dear Archons, his smile was enough to make Lumine die and revive on the spot. Forget Mora Meat or Qingce Stir Fry--if Childe smiled at her like that, she would instantly have buffs and infinite health restoration!
Slowly melting from his charms, Lumine nodded.
"Yeah...! Let's go!"
Liyue Harbor is a beautiful place.
Childe knew this, considering he had been there for a while. And yet, for some reason, just walking along the beachside with Lumine made its beauty all the more noticeable.
He was able to finally get the Traveler all to himself, and seeing how easily she went with him, squeezing information out of her should be easy. He was slightly disappointed, though. Considering her title as the "Honorary Knight of Mondstadt", he was expecting her guard to be a bit higher. And yet, she came willingly without any additional convincing. How he so wished for her to put up more of a fight...
Lumine, however, noticed Childe's watchful eye on her. She ran ahead and bent down, digging into the sand beneath her. Her intentions weren't exactly clear until she gently cradled a small shell in her hands.
It was a starconch.
The blonde looked back up at her acquaintance and smiled. It was one of the goofiest grins anyone could ever have seen. She seemed almost proud of it like she needed praise for digging up such a small shell.
"Well, now," Childe teased, "must I give you a gold star for digging this up?" He was slightly amused at her actions and wasn't sure what she wanted to do with the shell. "What? Does this ojou-chan want to build a sandcastle?" Childe kneeled and leaned in closer, peeking over Lumine's shoulder. He's done this before--it's just the normal routine. He'll tease them with the possibility of a kiss and then treat them to dinner, before gaining every possible piece of information he co--
"It's for you, actually!"
...I'm sorry, it's for what now?
Lumine giggled, grabbing Childe's hand and placing the small starconch in his. Man, her hands are small, Childe realized. She's only two years younger and yet she's so tiny... so tiny that it's kind of cute...
Wait, cute? No. Not cute! Snap out of it, Childe! You're a Harbinger! What are you doing, falling for the one who's supposed to be doing the falling?!
In an attempt to ignore the feelings plaguing his heart, he cleared his throat and asked, "For me? Your enemy?" He held it up to the sunlight, inspecting it further. "Hm... and, what exactly is your intent with this, Traveler?"
Lumine brushed a stray hair behind her ear and smiled. "Well, I just wanted to give you a present. I can do that, can't I?" Once more did she flash that small grin of hers, piercing Childe through the heart. He even dropped the starconch into his lap when she did that, causing Lumine to giggle even more.
Okay, so maybe she's cute. Fine. She wins that.
"That, and..." The girl looked out to the seaside, watching the waves meet with the sand before retreating away. "...I'm not dumb, you know." Without looking Childe in the eye, she stated ever so calmly, "I know you want information."
Shit. I got caught.
So, this Outlander isn't as dumb as Childe initially believed. Good. That made the challenge all the more fun to him, after all. If it was to be easy, it practically felt wrong and would've been much more boring.
The ginger smirked, taking a seat right next to Lumine on the sand, gazing at the ocean as well.
"Well, well. So, you caught me red-handed," he laughed. "What? Did you pull me over just for that, ojou-chan? Hm?" He glanced at the girl beside him, who was enjoying the calm sea breeze.
She looked quite beautiful in the sunlight, now that Childe thought about it. The sun reflected off her golden hair at just the right angle, and the way she seemed so calm was just something else to him.
"Not exactly," Lumine answered, snapping Childe out of his trance.
Seriously, stop daydreaming and focus, dammit!
Lumine continued, "Actually... I only agreed to come with you because I feel like I can change your mind about some things."
Oh? Change his mind? That was new.
"Change my mind? Hah, on what, girlie?" He scoffed, intrigued. "Being part of the Fatui?" Surprisingly, however, Lumine nodded her head. Childe stared at her for a second, astonished. They... they only just met? Why would she care about him being in the Fatui? "You're... you're joking, right?"
"Nope," Lumine stated, bluntly. "Not joking."
"..."
After a few seconds of silence, suddenly, the ginger started to burst out in laughter, clutching his stomach and rocking back and forth. To him, such an idea was so outlandish that he didn't expect this Outlander to even admit such a thing! Him? Leave the Fatui? That was such a stupid thought that even Childe wouldn't dream of pursuing such a path.
"L-Leave the... hahaha...! L-Leave the Fatu... Hahahaha!" The boy was practically cracking up, still in disbelief. "M-Man...! When did you become so funny, huh, ojou-chan?" He attempted to catch his breath, and yet, he kept laughing. He was in hysterics.
In response, though, Lumine shook her head. She stared directly at the Harbinger, resting her head on her knees. The look in her eyes told Childe the truth.
Lumine was definitely not kidding.
Childe ceased his laughter, an eyebrow raised in confusion and intrigue. What was the purpose of this, he wondered. Was Lumine that smitten that she believed she could reform Childe? That kind of plot-twist was one that was unimaginable to him, so that couldn't be it at all. Did she think that having Childe out of the Fatui would be beneficial to her? Now that option seemed much more plausible.
He sighed, lying down on the sand and looking up at the sky. "Really, now... this is one of the first times I've heard that in years. But..." He turned his head to look at Lumine, a slight chuckle in his voice as he softly smiled, "...I never expected it to be from you."
The girl picked back up the starconch that Childe had dropped onto the sand and placed it back into his hand once more. She curled his fingers up so that the shell wouldn't fall out of his grasp, and she gripped his hand in hers, nodding.
"Well, guess I'm full of surprises." This Traveler was somewhat unlike anything that the Harbinger was able to grasp, but he found that it just made things more interesting. "I... want to make a bet with you, actually."
"Oho, a bet, you say?" Childe sat up, leaning in closer. "Continue... I'd like to see what's on the line. Our lives? Dignity?"
"How about..." The girl started to trail off, looking away before snapping her fingers and glancing back at Childe. "...your title as Harbinger?"
Oh, so we're playing that game now.
"My title? As the 11th Harbinger? No, no, no... see, even if I did take you up on that offer," the ginger stated, before hastily adding, "Which I'm not if I need to make that clear..." He sighed, closing his eyes before continuing with his reasoning. "...I had to go through a lot of stuff just to get that title. There's nothing, and I mean nothing, that you could bet on that would match up with that."
"Well," she trailed off, looking down at her feet and tapping her boots together as if stalling. "...you're right. I have nothing to offer." She looked back out to the horizon, watching the sun slowly start its descent. "You're a Harbinger, and asking you to leave the Fatui isn't something I can just ask you to do."
"Exactly."
"And... I'm sure that you're convinced that we're enemies and that you'd never want to leave in the first place."
"Mhm. Right on point."
"But...!" Lumine tried to continue persuading him, and finally decided to reiterate, "You don't have to give it up if you don't want to by the time this whole thing is over." Childe became even more curious. By the time what is over? "I want to take you sightseeing around Liyue Harbor while we run errands."
Ah, so a date...
...wait, hold up, a date--?
Aren't we moving too fast? We literally just met! Should I even be doing this on duty? Wait, what am I saying?! I'm her enemy! Why am I worried about moving too fast? It's not like I want to... or... d-do I? Damn it, Childe, get your act together!
"And... this time..." The girl, while Childe was in the middle of his own internal monologue, continued with her proposition. "I want you to take a good look and see the people as what they are--people." She emphasized this point, losing the light-heartedness that was once in her tone. "Not as people you need to collect debt from, need to defeat, or need to conquer. Just... as people with families, with lives!" She looked at him with the most sincere gaze. Her amber eyes were sparkling with a glow that was drawing Childe in, almost convincing him--hypnotizing him--to accepting the deal.
Her eyes are actually really pretty now that I have a good look at them...
"I want you to see them as an average human being, just like you and me. If you can do that... then... at least consider leaving the Fatui. I'm not forcing you to leave, but I just want you to keep it in mind, okay, Childe?" When Lumine was finished with her speech, she noticed Childe was just staring at her blankly. It was almost as if he was in a trance, which was uncharacteristic of him. "Um... Childe?"
Were her eyes always that pretty? It's like looking at the sun, but...
"Childe?"
...why can't I look away?
"Childe!" Lumine called out, snapping him out of it. He jolted, just realizing he was in a daze. "Were you even listening to me?" Childe was about to lie and say he totally did until he saw Lumine's pouting face. Her cheeks were slightly puffed, her eyebrows furrowed, and yet she was incredibly...
Adorable.
"U-uh..." Holy fuck, she's cute.
"Hello~?" Lumine started to call out to Childe, waving her hand in front of his face. "Teyvat to Childe. Can you hear me?" Little did the Traveler know the number of jumbled thoughts going through Childe's head.
It was a mess in there. Mountains of gushing ramblings about her were starting to pile on top of each other with some logical part of Childe's conscious trying to compress them and hide them far away into the back of his mind. Even then, the loud thoughts kept bleeding through. He was starting to lose focus.
She's just so cute.
In fact, he was so broken that all that left his mouth were broken words and jumbled up sentences. "Um... sorry, what? I was... um... uh..."
Come up with an excuse, you dimwit! Don't make a fool of yourself! You know better than this!
"I was looking at that... o-other starconch!" Childe stammered, trying to search desperately for some convenient starconch that was placed out in the open. Sadly, he couldn't find one, so he just pointed in a direction, hoping Lumine wouldn't catch on to his poor acting skills. "Y-yeah! That starconch, haha! Over there!" Lumine was about to check in that direction, but Childe immediately tugged on her arm in hopes he wouldn't be exposed.
...wow, he thought, mentally facepalming. This is... a complete and utter trainwreck. Good going, Childe. Good. Fucking. Going.
The Traveler, realizing how off track he was, decided to cut him some slack and summarize it in a few short phrases. She sighed, saying, "Look, I just think you're not as bad as everyone thinks you are." She hugged her knees tighter to her chest, seeming quite sincere about such a concern. "You're a lot nicer than a lot of people would think you would be, even if you're a Fatui Harbinger... you just... need to learn to put down the act, you know?"
How would you know how nice I am? Childe began to wonder. For all you know, I could be deceiving you and ready to kill you at any moment. So why... why are you letting down your guard for such a flimsy hypothesis? Are you choosing to believe that I'm nice just because you've fallen for me? He scoffed, deciding to scold her for such an unusual mindset.
Ojou-chan, that's truly sweet of you, but being smitten for me doesn't change the fact that I'm your enemy...
"Even if you are my enemy..." Lumine responded, stopping Childe from continuing his internal narration.
Shit, did I just say that out loud?!
"I think you're... way too humane for me to brush off as a totally bad person," she explained before turning her head and smiling at him.
Did she just gloss over the whole 'smitten' part? God, why can't I think straight today?!
While she was definitely very pretty whenever she smiled, Childe's thoughts were all over the place that he was just picking out things that he probably shouldn't have been paying attention to. Truly, the Harbinger was completely off his game.
"Haha... hah... humane, you say?" He nervously chuckled, trying to regather his thoughts (as well as what little left of logical thinking he had). "Girlie, with all due respect, I'm a Fatui Harbinger. You know that I'm not here for good reasons, and yet, you still want to deny that?" It was admirable, really, it was. The fact that Lumine was completely ignoring Childe's position as a Harbinger and seemingly not minding it at all was something he hadn't seen in a while, but it was dangerous for her. She was on a quest: a journey across all of Teyvat, fighting against the Abyss and the Fatui alike. So why was she disregarding Childe's position as Harbinger? Why was she denying it?
"Well... yeah," Lumine answered. "Of course I'm denying it."
"But why?"
"Because..." The blonde girl shifted her eyes away from Childe, murmuring something under her breath. Even though she tried to avoid him hearing it, the Harbinger could make out a few words: "...you keep looking lonely..."
Oh? Him? Childe? The 11th Harbinger? One of those appointed and trusted by the Tsaritsa? The one who always shows up wherever the chaos is? How could he be lonely? If anything, he was far from lonely. He was surrounded by colleagues who feared and respected him, who would listen to his every word! How was that lonely?
Lumine, still avoiding Childe's gaze, let out a sigh and said in such a small voice, "I... caught you alone once. You were... writing a letter to someone, if I remember correctly."
Oh.
…oh.
His letters.
The letters that Childe would write to his siblings back in Snezhnaya whenever he had the time; letters talking about the things he had seen, sent over with an abundance of gifts that he so wished he could give them in person but can't; the letters written with stories he wanted to tell by their fireplace back home, where they could all eat Calla Lily Soup together and laugh at the shenanigans Childe was up to.
Those letters.
The letters that he had to send from nations away because the Fatui didn't trust him to stay in Snezhnaya.
The letters that he sent constantly because he felt homesick and wanted to be with his family.
…yes, those were such letters.
How could he be so stupid to let his guard down and have Lumine, his enemy, of all people, see that?
Childe fell silent, not saying anything. His silence spoke volumes to Lumine, confirming her suspicions. She saw the look on his face and seemed to take pity on him, to which he didn't want from her. He was seen at one of his most vulnerable times--when he was homesick and hoping the best for his family. He didn't want the one he was to cross blades with one day see such a thing.
"...you seemed kind of sad writing it." Lumine looked up at the sky as if searching for someone. It was almost as if she knew the feeling Childe had felt when he was writing those letters. "...you must miss them, the person you were writing to." The atmosphere grew tense, with the girl continuing to gaze at the sky with such a sorrowful look in her eyes; the boy, remaining uncharacteristically silent. "...maybe you just joined the Fatui for the sake of that person..." She looked back at Childe, with what seemed to be a look of pain on her face. "Right?"
Why? Childe wondered. Why is she looking at me like that? Like she would know. And why would it matter to her why I joined the Fatui? I'm still her enemy in the end... He looked at the waves touching the sand gently before they moved away, back to the ocean. The waves would touch the sand, then part with it... touch it, then part... what a somber feeling he felt, just from this one conversation.
Was this her plan? The ginger kept pondering. Did she pry into my private life in hopes that she can let my guard down? In hopes that she can strike me down faster that way? Childe was slowly growing paranoid, not believing Lumine's intents to be pure. He kept searching for reasons to antagonize her, to make her the enemy. He kept grasping at straws.
The thumping of his heart, though, kept telling him otherwise.
This entire time on the seashore of Liyue Harbor, Childe was at war with his heart and his head. His thoughts were all over the place, he couldn't understand a thing, and he was making no sense. He was quite lost, though he hated to admit it. The only thing he could make out clearly was the sound of Lumine's voice and her ethereal figure as she sat there, sometimes smiling, sometimes frowning.
So maybe that's why he accepted her offer. Maybe that's why he decided to let his guard down, just this once. Maybe... just maybe, that was the reason that he took up Lumine on her offer.
"...so," he quietly murmured, breaking the silence between them. "...you just want to take me on a date around Liyue and convince me to be... what? Merciful?" He had a slight smile on his face, hoping to lighten the atmosphere. Thankfully, to his benefit, it worked.
"Something like that--wait! Date?!" Lumine almost instantly regained that innocent glow she had before, giving in to Childe's antics. "D-da... it's not a date!" she screeched, turning to him and pounding her fists into the sand. The Harbinger covered his face to avoid the sand from flying into his face, starting to feel a bit giddier.
"Hahaha, yeah, sure! Okay, I totally believe you," he laughed, lowering his arm to catch a look at the flustered girl.
"I'm serious! It's not a date!"
"Oh, then what is it? A business outing? Hahaha!" Ah... she really is a bit cute.
The lighthearted atmosphere that was with them in the beginning returned. For now, Childe told himself, he'll let his guard down. Just this once, he'll try and let Lumine do as she pleases. Some part of him was telling him that it was alright to just be a human rather than a Harbinger around her...
...and for the first time, Childe listened.

UC 51.13 - Wolfson, Ox vs Bristol
I am allergic to dairy. Or at least I believe I am. This is different to lactose intolerance in that it has symptoms more in line with your typical bout of hayfever, rather than those of a more gastrointestinal bent that you get with intolerance. In other words - cheese makes me sneeze.
I first discovered this about a year ago when I had something containing milk after a month of testing out various vegan cheeses (having previously been a cheese sandwich on the daily kind of guy). I was completely wiped out with a runny nose, runny eyes, achy joints, heavy head kind of illness for about a day or so. Now, this is a kind of illness that had been plaguing me for years, but I’d never stopped long enough to think about what the cause could be. I just sort of assumed that I was a person who would always suffer a base level of ‘having a cold’ and would occasionally and seemingly randomly get taken out by an extreme instance of it every once in a while.
After this first incident last year I conducted an experiment on myself whereby I swore off all dairy products for a month and then consumed in as little time as is physically possible, a large takeaway pizza with extra cheese and a large portion of cheesy chips. The next day I was struck down by the same severe sniffles and was forced into a life sans-cheese sandwiches for the first time in living memory. I called the GP to see if they’d be able to do some tests or something to try and find more out about it, but they basically told me that they thought I’d solved the mystery already - so why would I need anything from them.
Nearly a year goes by with no further cheese-based indispositions, until last Thursday when, on a work trip, and having not eaten since breakfast, having skipped lunch in anticipation of a larger window for the consumption of a full meal which did not materialise, I bought a superfood wrap, the ingredients of which I had read and believed to be safe. However, it turned out that it contained copious amounts of feta. Realising this only once I had taken the first bite, I resolved to finish it. In any case I was absolutely starving and this was the only food I was likely going to see for the next few hours. How bad could it be, anyway?
Very bad, as it turns out. To the extent, indeed, that most of Friday, Saturday and Sunday were complete right-offs (other than the fact that I was able to binge without guilt the entirety of Squid Game). To the extent also, that I spent a not-insignificant amount of time trying to research exactly what it is that's wrong with me (i think it could be something to do with the fact there is a lot of histamine in cheese, and this messes about with the way my immune system deals with threats… If anyone has any insights on this subject they would be greatly appreciated), in the hope of potentially being able to mitigate the issue in the future.
Usually when I delve this deep into a subject there is the prospective chance that said research will serve me well in future quizzes. With this in mind, and with the hope that it acts as sufficient justification for this self-centred ramble about cheese, I am really hoping for a three part bonus set on the role of histamine in the immune response tonight.
Anyway, (any usually when I make an apology for my rambling I’m being flippant, but in this case it really is genuine, because there isn’t really any excuse for this level of frippery in the introduction to any blog post), sorry for the gigantic diversion from the scheduled programming; here’s your starter for ten.
Bristol have made seven University Challenge quarter-finals, without ever making it to the semis, which is quite impressive in more ways than one. Wolfson have never made the semis either, but they only have a sole quarter to their name, meaning they have a ways to go to match their West Country rivals.
Wolfson’s Williams introduces himself with one of the biggest smiles I’ve ever seen on a contestant, and its pretty infectious. By the time Paxman gets round to asking the questions I’m positively grinning. The jolly fellow himself is the first to get some points on the board, recognising various revolutions before anyone else. They take two bonuses on the words of the acronym TARDIS.
Bristol’s Woodcock negs the next starter, coming in very early with India, and then rapping his hand on the desk when he’s told he’s wrong. Wolfson aren’t able to pick up the points, and returned the neg with one of their own next time out. Williams takes his second of the night with Shackleton and beams his head off again. They take two bonuses, including one which is a very obvious description of an electron - the kind of question that has no business appearing on the Challenge.
Nowakowski is first to recognise Granada for the first picture round and he bloody well dabs. He pauses for a brief moment and then literally, and energetically, dabs. I don’t know what else to say about this. It is beyond description almost. Brilliant, mind, but beyond description. A third starter for Williams increases Wolfson’s lead, but they can’t capitalise on the bonuses. The next ten pointer goes to Nowakowski too and… this time he raises his glass of water like he’s cheers-ing the crowd in celebration. I really hope this dude has a full set of different celebrations for each time he gets a question right. We shall see…
Following an amusing discussion between the Wolfson team in which Nowakowski says of Chopin, ‘Well, as a Polish man I wouldn’t call him French, but you’re the captain’, Woodcock makes up for his earlier neg and gets Bristol back on the move. They keep going courtesy of Brian on the music starter, as she gets The Shangri-Las so quickly as to elicit some murmurs of appreciation from Paxman. They then take the lead with a bonus set on film titles made of international country codes and pretty quickly they are thirty points clear.
Aggarwal hits back for Wolfson with an early buzz of Ramanujan, but they don’t make many inroads on the bonuses, and Bristol seize back control with a pair of consecutive starters. They take two bonuses on events happening in years in which the second two digits are three times as large as the first two digits - a lovely UC contrivance which initially seems to make the question more difficult but actually makes it a multiple choice guessing game.
I hadn’t realised it, but Bristol are now ninety points clear. I don’t quite know how they’ve done it, because Wolfson seemed like they were doing okay, but fair play to them, they’ve been excellent after a shaky start. The game is over at this point, but Williams gets in a little joke with a guess of Dr Gilssando on a question featuring the word glissando. Good lad.
Hang on, if Wolfson can get a few more points they might be in with a shot of the play-offs, and Nowakowski is still pretty pumped when they he gets a bonus question right, yelling Uzbekistan, baby. It isn’t enough to get them the 140 points they need to come back for the repechage, but Paxman comments on his enthusiasm at the end of the match, in one of the most surreal exchanges I’ve ever seen on the Challenge.
He asks Nowakowski why he was so psyched about his Uzbekistan answer, and Nowakowski says ‘Phenomenal country, great people’, to which Paxo says ‘That’s enough from the Uzbekistan tourist board’. Nowakowski then points a finger at the camera and says ‘Poland approved’. This description doesn’t do it any justice, so if you haven’t seen it already do go and watch it (and if you have then watch it again, its really quite something)
Final Score: Wolfson, Ox 110 - 165 Bristol
I’m going to miss Wolfson, and in particular Nowakowski, so, so much. But full congratulations to Bristol, who dealt with the boundless charisma of their opponents most admirably. See you next week for the last first round match!

hey! First, happy new year, I wish you all the best, second. Can you write one about Amelia going to New York and she goes see her mom or one of her sisters and that person doesn’t know about scout but she notices that Amelia is different and her body too and tells that to Amelia and eventually they end up talking about her pregnancy and scout? Thank you
mending relationships
happy new year!!! i hope this year treats you well!! i kind of read this prompt wrong, sorry about that i hope you enjoy it nonetheless. i hope everyone’s doing well and staying safe!!
“Amy?!” Amelia silently cursed herself, she should’ve made sure none of her sisters would be at this conference.
“Nancy! It’s so good to see you.” Amelia forcefully smiled once she turned around.
“You too. You know I haven’t heard from you since I’ve last seen you.”
“Hmm. It has been awhile.” Amelia hummed, trying to gain the energy to be civil. “I’ve never seen you at one of these alternative pain relief conferences.”
“Oh, well. I needed to get to a couple of more conferences in before the end of the year, and I thought this would be a good option.”
“Well I’ll probably see you around.” Amelia said awkwardly backing away.
“Yes. I’ll call you and we can make plans while we’re in town.” Nancy smiled squeezing her sisters upper arm before walking away.
________________________________________
“You’ll never guess who’s here.” Amelia dramatically sighed into her phone.
“If you say Dr Lavorn I’m going go be so jealous.” Link responded, he had planned to accompany his girlfriend but he had gotten the flu.
“No my sister.” The neurosurgeons voice broke.
“Oh, don’t cry.” Link pleaded he hated to see his girlfriend cry, especially when he wasn’t there to comfort her.
“I can’t control it. Hormones.” Amelia cried into her phone flopping down on the hotel bed.
“I’m sorry.”
“You better be, your the one who impregnated me and insisted I come to this conference.”
“Which sister is it?”
“Nancy.”
“Oh she wasn’t that bad, I’m sure you’ll be fine. I mean you probably won’t really see her again.”
“Oh no, I will be seeing her again.” Amelia looked down at her watch. “In thirty minutes for dinner.”
“Now why would you agree to that?” Link chuckled.
“I don’t know. She has this way about her.”
“You’ll be fine. Are you gonna tell her about the pregnancy?”
“No, I’m barely showing yet. I’m going to try and not engage in conversation about my personal life as much as possible. How are you feeling?”
“I’m feeling much better, I’ll probably go into work tomorrow.”
“Okay, that’s good.” Amelia relaxed a bit, she had been nervous to leave her boyfriend while he was sick. “Well I have to go, I love you.”
“Love you too.”
_______________________________________
“So mom told me before you left New York, you guys had the opportunity to talk. She misses you, you should call her every once in awhile.”
“Hmm, I probably should.” The neurosurgeon was trying her hardest to keep her composure.
“Also Lizzie, she’s been trying to get all of us together for awhile now. She says she tries to call you sometimes and you never answer. I know she was disappointed she couldn’t come to dinner that night.”
“I’ll have to call her back then.” Amelia forcefully smiled.
“You should’ve done it anyway shouldn’t have to take me telling you too.” Amelia simply hummed in response, she wasn’t sure how much more she could take from her sister.
After a tense dinner between the two, Nancy suggested that they go across the street to get ice cream. As much as Amelia didn’t want to spend more time with her sister chocolate ice cream had been one of her most recent cravings. The two then went to sit outside in awkward silence until Nancy spoke up.
“I think the last time I was in Boston was when we were moving you into your dorm.”
“I haven’t been here in awhile either. The last time was probably before I moved out to LA.”
“Want to know something I find strange?” Nancy asked turning so she was looking her sister in the eyes.
“Umm, what?” Amelia asked slightly confused by the change in her sisters demeanor.
“That your eating chocolate ice cream. As a kid you always hated it.”
“Oookay?” Amelia chuckled nervously. “Whens the last time we had ice cream together? When we were in middle school? People change.”
“Can you just admit that your pregnant?” Nancy had been subtly trying to get her sister to admit it all night, but with no avail.
“I don’t know why I thought I was going to be able to hide it from you of all people.”
“Soooo, who’s the father?”
“Why is that your first question?”
“Is it the guy you brought over that night.” Amelia nodded in agreement whilst smiling. “He stayed with you after the New York fiasco?”
“Yeah, he did I still don’t know why. He’s really great.” An uncontrollable grin was plastered on her face, she loved her boyfriend an inexplicable amount.
“When are you due?”
“In the spring.”
“Your OB didn’t give you an exact date?” Nancy chuckled until she saw her sisters face. “Please don’t tell me you haven’t had a prenatal appointment...Amy!”
“I’ve just been busy.”
“You need to get one.”
“I’m not stupid, Nancy. I know I need one.”
“Well your acting stupid.”
“What else is new?” Amelia scoffed. The two sat in silence before they walked back to the hotel the conference was being held at. As they went up in the elevator it looked like Nancy had wanted to say something. The doors opened allowing Amelia off at her stop, but Nancy stopped the doors before they closed.
“Can I come to your room and sit with you?” Nancy sheepishly asked.
“Why? So you can tell me how horrible of a mother I already am?”
“No I just want to spend time with you.”
“Fine.” The neurosurgeon sighed she knew this probably wasn’t the best idea, but decided to go with it nonetheless. Nancy followed Amelia into her room and sat on the bed while her sister got ready for the night.
“Are you okay?” Amelia asked as she pulled her shirt on noticing the tears in her sisters eyes.
“Connery tore his ACL in lacrosse, and he needed surgery. He got pain killers after surgery, and it’s my own fault I watched you go through addiction. I knew the signs but he was in so much pain.” Nancy stifled a sob covering her face with her hands.
Amelia stood there in somewhat of shock, she couldn’t remember the last time she saw her sister cry if ever. She walked over to the bed and sat beside her and took her hand in hers.
“He took my prescription pad. I sent him to rehab and when he came back he just slipped into his bad habits.”
“He needs to want to get sober. It’s not going to happen just because you want him to be sober, he has to want it for himself.” Amelia laid back on the bed her sister following. “Does Mom know?”
“No, and she’s not going to.”
“She could help you.”
“Yeah because she did such a great job keeping you sober.” Nancy bit back. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it.”
“It’s okay.” The younger sister whispered, squeezing her sisters hand. “You should really talk to mom though. She’s not gonna be disappointed in you.”
“I wish I could go back to when I was pregnant the first time. Everything seemed so easy then.” Amelia simply nodded trying not to cry, since the news of her pregnancy she’d been feeling a lot of guilt regarding her last pregnancy. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah I’m good.” The neurosurgeon forcefully smiled wiping her tears away.
“What’s wrong Amy?” Nancy turned off her back so she was facing her sister.
“Nothing.” The littlest Shepherds voice breaking.
“Is this not your first pregnancy?”
“Remember around the time of the plane crash Derek was in. And he had that intern call of us for a nerve donation?”
“I remember, Lizzie said that the intern said you hung up on her.”
“Yeah, I did. First off Derek should’ve called us himself.” Nancy nodded in agreement. “Umm, I was pregnant. My baby had anencephaly.”
“Oh Amy.” Nancy sat up pulling her sister into a hug. The two had never really been close, but Nancy was a mother herself and couldn’t imagine that her baby sister had gone through this. She’d seen a case of anencephaly before and she didn’t know how the mother moved on, she didn’t know how any mother moved on after the fatality of their child. “Why didn’t you call us?”
“I shut everyone out. Even Addison, God I was so mad at her. It wasn’t her fault she was just the messenger.”
“Amelia, what happened to your baby happening again is a one in a million chance. You need to get checked and make sure everything is okay, you know that.”
“I know.”
“Does Link know?”
“Yeah, I told him about it.”
“That’s good.” The older sister nodded and sat there with her sister before she spoke up again. “I can do the scan if you want me to. You already hate me so if it’s bad you can just hate me more.”
“I don’t hate you.” Amelia confessed wiping away a stray tear “and I’d really appreciate that.”
“Mom will be excited. It’s been awhile since the family’s had a new baby.”
“Yeah, she will. Just don’t say anything before we know everything’s okay.”
“I won’t.” Nancy smiled.
“With Connery just take him to meetings, don’t enable him, show him alternative pain relief methods, and just let him know you love him and want him to get sober.”
“Little sisters aren’t supposed to give their big sisters advice.”
“Hey, you were the one who came in here. You wanted my advice because I’m the family’s junkie.”
“Precisely.” Amelia shoved her sister in response.
“Your such a jerk.”
“Someone’s gotta keep you in line.” Nancy smirked at her little sister. She was grateful they were slowly but surely mending their relationship.

The Battle Between Love and Fire-
Ivar the Boneless × Reader
Chapter Forty &Chapter Forty Continued
Chapter Forty-One
Word Count 4.4k
Warnings: none for this chapter
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Life was calm after your return home from Novgorod. Everyone was in their own little haze of happiness that entranced everyone in Kattegat. The people are thriving and your dragons are prospering. You and Ivar have had a lot of alone time and it has strengthened yours and his relationship immensely. You and Hvitserk are as great as you've ever been. Ubbe and Torvi are in 'la-la-land', as Ivar would say. So to say that you have totally forgotten about Wessex, would be an understatement. On this day, your news carrier comes into your home, barring a handful of letters.
"Oh my.."
He chuckles, "Yes, my queen."
Ivar "And you are just handing them to us now-"
"Oh, they just arrived, my king."
Ivar "They just arrived? All of them?"
"Yes, my king."
"Who are they from?"
"Wessex, my queen." You and Ivar lock eyes and you snatch the handful of letters out of the man's hands, startling him quite a bit.
"Oh, I am sorry! I didn't mean to-"
"It is quite alright." He laughs it off. Hvitserk walks up to you from sitting beside Ubbe and Torvi, to read it with you. "I hope all is well, my queen." He said before walking away.
"Thank you kindly." He nods and then leaves you be. When you open the first letter, you realize that it is only the lists of the people that Helga finds able to lead Wessex while you sit on Kattegat's throne. The list was long, making your head pound at the thought of having to choose only one man or woman to lead.
Ivar "She made a list of their abilities." He hands you another list that he read first hand. You begin to read the piece of parchment when a name caught your eye: Daario Naharis.
"Look at his abilities! I have never seen someone so capable."
Ivar "He does sound like he qualifies for the duties."
Hvitserk "When do you have to go?"
"I will have to leave as soon as possible."
Hvitserk "Are you going alone?"
Ivar "My love, I have to sta-"
"I know. I wouldn't ask you to leave again, Ivar." You think for a moment, pondering if it would be safe to travel all that way by yourself.
Hvitserk "I can go with you."
"Are you sure? I can have a guard-"
Hvitserk "I'd much rather go with you then stay here with my two brothers."
Ubbe "Aye, I heard that!" He said as he threw a piece of food that he was munching on at Hvitserk. You all get a good laugh but then you get back to business.
"If you want to go, we have to get ready to leave. Helga could have sent these weeks ago! I do not wish for her to wait any longer, let alone have the whole kingdom be in chaos by the time we arrive."
Hvitserk snickers, "I will get my horse." You nod and Ivar takes your hand in his own and your eyes connect.
Ivar "This is so unexpected..are you alright to travel all that way?"
"I have to go, beloved. There is no discussion. Those are my people and they need guidance."
Ivar "I know. I am sure that they will be very happy to see your beautiful face." He caresses your cheek.
"Hmm. I do miss my old kingdom. Especially now since my father is no longer there." You chuckle.
Ivar "It will be good for you, my love. But please, send me a letter when you arrive. To let me know that you and Hvitserk are safe."
"I will, I promise. And you will write me back, yes?"
Ivar "Yes." He kisses your lips, "Do you know when you will return?"
"Sadly, I do not. I completely forgot about the matter. But I will write to you every chance that I get. And I will be home as soon as I can."
Ivar smiles, "Okay, my sweet. I love you."
"So much." You kiss him again and then struggle to get your pregnant-self up from your throne. Ubbe ends up running to your aid.
You huff once you are stable, "Thank you." You force a laugh.
Ubbe "No need to thank me." He rubs your belly and smiles, "My little niece will soon be here, that is all that matters. I do not mind helping you, Y/n."
"I know. Keep Ivar in line for me-"
Ivar "..Aye?!" You two burst out laughing.
"I'm kidding!" Then you look up at Ubbe and give him a stern look and he only nods. He knows that you weren't kidding. When you are away or even out of the room for hours at a time, Ivar can lose himself and become angry and hateful for absolutely no reason. So you need Ubbe's help to keep him in line while you are away. And you trust Ubbe to do so.
Torvi "I love you, beautiful. Stay safe, yeah?"
"Yes, I love you too." You say your goodbyes to the kids and then you meet Hvitserk outside. He is standing by his horse with open arms.
"What?"
Hvitserk "You are riding with me! So come here!" You hesitate for a minute because you do not like the thought of leaving all three of your dragons here in Kattegat but your dragon's are asleep anyways, so you agree. He helps you up and then he mounts his horse and waits for you to grab a hold of him before he commands his horse to go.
Hvitserk "Wessex, England..here we come." You giggle and rest your head on his back. The thought of going home to Wessex excites you. You are excited at the fact that you will get to be in your home without the fear of coming in contact with your father. And seeing Helga is always a joy. So you look over Hvitserk's shoulder and take in your horizon.
Hvitserk "Oh, I forgot to mention something, princess."
"Hmm?"
Hvitserk "We have ten trained Vikings tagging along." You pause and then look behind you to find ten guards riding close behind.
"Of course we do."
Hvitserk chuckles, "Hey you are a queen. A queen who is carrying my child..of course I am bringing guards with us. We can-"
"Never be too safe." You finish his sentence.
Hvitserk "Exactly."
"I know. I love you."
Hvitserk "And I love you."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You ended up falling asleep on Hvitserk's back along the way. But when you subconsciously feel the horse stop galloping, you wake yourself.
Hvitserk "Good morning sunshine."
"Shut up." You both laugh. "How long have I been out?"
Hvitserk "Mmm, all of it."
"Shit..I'm sorry."
Hvitserk "Kitten, I am glad that you got sleep, don't be sorry. I'm not mad-"
"I know, you never get mad at me." You smile.
Hvitserk "Because I love-"
Helga "You are here!!" She yelled as she came up towards the gated entrance.
"Hi momma!" She smiles from ear to ear whenever you call her that. Ever since you were a little girl, Helga was always a second mother to you. When your mother could not help you, Helga would. Whenever your mother was away, Helga would take great care of you.
Helga opens up the gates and waits for Hvitserk to help you dismount the horse. Once you were on the ground, she ran up to you and gave you a welcoming embrace.
Helga "Oh my sweet girl. Welcome home."
"It feels nice to be home. Um, I don't know if you remember-"
Helga "Hvitserk, of course I do." She says as she hugs him. "You helped in the siege..and with the burial of my daughter."
Hvitserk "It was my pleasure to do so."
Helga "Such a gentleman. Oh, how could I be so clumsy! Come now, let's go meet them." She takes your hand and leads you to the palace. Seeing it for the first time since the siege, takes your breath away. It is like the darkness that your father casted over the palace was once and for all lifted. And all that remained is beauty and grace.
Tumblr media
"I have almost forgotten how beautiful my home was.."
Helga "We all have, little one. But now our kingdom is restored."
"Not quite yet, Helga. You need guidance."
Helga "And that is why you have come, is it not?"
"It is. I want to help as best as I can without physically being here. I do not wish for this kingdom to fall like it once did."
Helga cups your cheeks, "I have faith in you and whoever you decide to be our ruler. Now come on, let's go meet them all." Hvitserk does not leave your side the entire way. He catches himself with his mouth ajar as he walks through the palace walls. All of the intricate details and all of the colors, makes his jaw drop.
Hvitserk "I do not remember the palace looking like this when I came to save you, Y/n."
"That is because you were not focusing on the details. You were focusing on finding me." You take his hand, "But now you can pause and take it all in." He smiles and grazes his surroundings. The ceiling has art painted on them, with the most detail. He thinks to himself, "how did they do that? How could one paint the ceiling?" You giggle to yourself as you watch Hvitserk's eyes light up as he looks at your first home.
Helga "Y/n, this would be my first choice for a leader.." You look at the gentleman standing beside her in shock.
"My Queen.." he kneels before you.
"Please rise.."
"Daario..my queen. Daario Naharis." He says his name as he rises.
"It is nice to meet you, Daario."
Daario "You as well, my queen. And who is accompanying you?"
Hvitserk "Hi, I'm Hvitserk Lothbrok. Her protector." You smile to yourself and try not to make it too obvious. Daario shakes Hvitserk's hand and nods.
Daario "That is good to see that my queen is in good hands." Hvitserk snickers.
Helga "Why don't the two of you get to know each other? Daario, tell her about yourself."
Daario smiles, "Of course. Walk with me?" Hvitserk tenses up like the alpha male in the wolf pack, and Daario notices his sudden change in body language. "Hvitserk, I am not going to hurt my queen. I just met her-"
Hvitserk "I am not going to apologize for being protective. She is pregnant."
Daario "I can see that. More of the reason to be gentle and kind..I am no threat to you or Y/n."
Hvitserk huffs, "Where are you taking her?"
"Hvitserk that is enough. This is my kingdom, I know this place like the back of my hand. If anyone pulls anything, they will get hurt, not me." Daario starts to laugh but he covers it up with his hand and Hvitserk backs off.
Hvitserk "Fine."
Helga "You can walk with me, Hvitserk. I can show you Y/n's favorite places in the kingdom!" He looked at you one last time before Helga took his arm and pulled him in the opposite direction.
You sigh and Daario notices, "Hey, are you alright?"
"Me? Oh yes, I'm fine."
Daario "Well in that case," he offers you his arm and you take it, "What would you like to know first, my queen?"
"Please, just call me Y/n..I hear that enough at home."
Daario nods, "Understood."
"I suppose I would like to know your history..your beginning." He talks as he walks you up to the balcony part of the palace, a.k.a, your favorite place to be in your home. He continues to talk but you zone out for a good long while. You just place your hands on the railing and take in the world in front of you. Daario stops talking when he realizes that you aren't listening and just takes in your beauty. Gods you are the most beautiful woman that he has ever seen.
"It is so beautiful here, isn't it?"
Daario "Beautiful doesn't come close." You look back at him and he was not looking at the horizon, he was looking at you. You have to admit, the man is gorgeous. But you are loyal to Ivar.
"So, please continue to tell me about yourself." He laughed and started talking about his life story and to be honest, he is more than qualified to be a leader.
"You are more than able to lead, Daario..but I have so many other people to talk to.."
Daario "You do?"
"Yes but I already have my leader." He smiles, "But I do not know how to tell them that I will not be choosing them."
Daario "Just let them tell their story and put them down gently." You try not to laugh but it comes out anyway, making Daario laugh.
Daario "But if you are choosing me to lead this kingdom, I must swear to you this: I will do everything I can to keep your people safe. I will lead with honor and dignity. I will be kind and generous, and I will always think twice before making a final decision. And lastly, I will always be by your side when and if you ever need me, my queen. Your protection matters to me the most, and your childs..of course."
"Thank you, Daario. And I believe your word. But if you let this kingdom down, and this kingdom falls to ruin under your command, I will burn you alive." You say with a straight face, making Daario pause.
Daario "I won't let you down, my queen. I swear it."
"Good. I have to speak to my people, will you join me?"
Daario "It would be a pleasure."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you come down the steps, you find many of you people waiting for your return. You are startled by the sight but then you recollect yourself when Daario puts his hand on your shoulder.
Daario "They are glad that you are home."
"Where were you when I was a kid?" He chuckles, "I could have used your sense of protection my whole life.."
Daario "Well I am here now. You are safe, more than that if you'd ask me."
"And why do you say that?"
"Look at your people." You look over the stairwell and see all of their smiles and the joy in their faces at the sight of their queen being home. "Your people love you. They adore you, Y/n. Your people stand by your side, not against you. So why do I see fear in your eyes?"
"Old habits, I suppose."
Daario "Mm, Helga has told me about your father.. I am so sorry that he treated you and this kingdom so harshly."
"I do not wish to speak of him in this palace ever again. His name is like a dagger to me."
Daario "My sincere apologies."
"It's alright..I just have to realize that he can't hurt me anymore."
Daario "No he cannot. And I swear that if I was here when we were younger, I would've done everything I could to protect you. But I cannot change the past, I can only help you in the present and plan for the future."
"I sense that to be true."
Helga "So…" you jolt when she comes up beside you. "How did it go?"
You giggle, "Very well. But I must talk to the rest of my people before I make my final decision."
Helga "Perfect. I have taken on the responsibility and gathered the remaining people in the front of the palace to tell their stories.."
"You did that?" She nods, "What would I do without you?" You pull her in for a hug and she gladly hugs you back.
Helga "Aw my sweet girl, words cannot describe how happy I am that you are home."
"I feel very welcomed." You smile and take her hand as she leads you outside, where you are rejoined with Hvitserk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you sit down beside him, his face lights up immediately and so does yours.
"Welcome home, my queen!" One of your old friends said to you.
"FLORA!" You shout her name as you race to get to her without toppling over. She rushes towards you and laughs as you cling to her like a monkey.
"Oh my gods, I thought I lost you too!"
Flora "You almost did but I'm still here."
"Thank gods. Oh I have missed you so much."
Flora "Y/n, you are so pregnant!" You both burst out laughing.
"I am."
Flora "You look so beautiful, oh my goodness."
"I love you, oh..I am so happy you are here with me."
Flora "I wasn't going to miss out on this kingdom's resurrection."
"Good, I want you to be a part in that."
Flora "Absolutely, my queen."
"Stop that! I am your best friend-"
Flora "And technically my queen..so I am calling you my queen."
"You were always so stubborn."
Flora "But you love me anyways."
"I do." You hug one last time before sitting back down beside Hvitserk, with Daario behind you and Helga on your other side.
"So, you all wish to lead?" Hvitserk looks at you in admiration. The power that you hold is unbelievable. The love you have over your people is astonishing. The first person to come up and kneel was another young gentleman. He shared his story and it matched your beginning. So you sympathized with him and gave him a chance.
"Can you fight?"
"I do not have much experience, my queen. But I can learn." He said.
"Everyone can be taught, young man. If you wish to learn-" you get caught off guard by three figures in the sky. You cannot make out what it is at first but then you smirk when you realize that it is none other than your dragon's coming home.
Hvitserk "Well I'll be damned.."
"I knew that we couldn't stay away from them for too long.."
Daario "What in God's name are-"
Tumblr media
"Those, Daario, are my dragons." He looks at you and then back up towards the sky in shock and amazement. And then it clicks in his head and he snickers.
Tumblr media
Daario "No wonder you told me that you would burn me alive if I ever betrayed you.."
Hvitserk "She will, that is a promise. But do not think that I would be so easy as to let you just burn alive. No no no, if you ever betray Y/n, or do anything to jeopardize this kingdom and these people, I will make sure that you will pay for what you did, understood?"
Daario "We have an understanding, Lothbrok. But I would never do such a thing. I know some of what her father did, of course not all, but I would never do anything to cause Y/n or these people any more pain then they have already been through. So you can stop with the threats."
"I trust him, Hvitserk. So should you."
Hvitserk "Good." Your dragon's land around the kingdom and your people are pleased to see them. They know that they were a huge part in the siege and the victory, so they do not fear them.
"Please, continue." The man continued and then the rest of the people interested in leading Wessex. None of them were close to qualifying to lead like Daario is. So to you, the option was quite clear. But as a queen, you decide to think over all of your options over the night and you will declare the leader of Wessex in the morning.
"Thank you. Thank all of you for coming today and sharing your stories with me. I want you to know that whoever I pick by first light, will be who I find suits to lead such a kingdom as Wessex. Who I find will protect, guide and respect my good people. So please, do not take this decision to heart if you are not chosen. If I could, I would allow all of you to lead but that would only bring chaos, to which I cannot allow. That will be all, please go on with your daily tasks." Your people bow and do as they are told. You sigh in contentment with how that all went.
Hvitserk "You did so well, Y/n."
"Thank you. I loved speaking to them. Because they are my people, not Ivar's. If that makes any sense."
Hvitserk "It does completely."
Helga "How is Ivar?"
"Mm, he is fine. Thank you for asking."
Daario "May I ask, who is Ivar?"
"He is my husband." In that moment, he looks down but he does not see a ring.
Daario "Oh, of course. I just did not see a ring, is all."
"My ring stopped fitting once I reached my third trimester..I can no longer wear it."
Daario "Oh I see. I'm sorry for misunderstanding."
"That is quite alright." He smiles and nods.
Daario "Can I ask you a favor?" You nod, "Can you introduce me to your dragons?" You giggle from his politeness.
"Yes, of course. Come on." Him as well as Hvitserk and Helga follow you to your dragon's. All three dragons took kindly to Daario and his scent. If they did not respond nicely to Daario, then that would give you the need to choose someone else to be the leader of Wessex. But now that your dragons gave you this clarity, now you are certain that Daario Naharis will be the next leader of Wessex England.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When night fell, you gathered your people to feast with you. Seeing so many familiar faces, brought you so much joy. Talking to those you have loved your entire life, made your heart warm. You wish that Thyra was here with you, however, you miss her more than words could possibly describe. So you make the toast out to her, in her honor.
"Thank you for joining me on this feast. I am aware that we are missing some beautiful people tonight, one being my close friend, Thyra. She was my sister and I wish that she was here to feast with us all on this night. So let us toast to her and to everyone we have lost on that day. Cheers."
"Cheers!" They all shouted. Helga got up from her seat and with tears in her eyes, she hugged you.
Helga "Thank you for that, Y/n. I was not expecting such a toast."
"How could I forget her? She is still very much a part of me and you. She always will be." Helga nods, "Go on, go eat." She kisses your cheek and then sits back down to enjoy her meal. Hvitserk and you talk most of the time while your people talk amongst themselves. Helga talks with Daario but he keeps his eye on you most of the night. You are aware of his glance and you try not to stare back.
Hvitserk "He likes you, don't he?"
"Who?"
Hvitserk "Daario."
"Oh gods."
Hvitserk "It is quite obvious, kitten."
"Even if that was true, I am loyal to Ivar. And you!"
Hvitserk "I know."
"So why even bring that up, hmm?" You say as you bring your glass of water up to your lips.
Hvitserk "Because he has been staring at you all night."
"He swore his allegiance to my and our daughter. He swore to protect her and I..he is watching over me to keep me safe. Just as you did when I first arrived in Kattegat. Do you not remember?"
Hvitserk "Of course I remember."
"Then please stop overthinking. I need you. I need you to not be focusing on Daario looking at me and be focusing on this joyous time. I am home and you get to be home with me, isn't that more important?"
Hvitserk "Yes, yes you are right. I won't bring it up anymore." You nod and continue to eat. Your people start asking about your pregnancy and how far along you are. You love answering those questions because you are more than excited to meet your daughter.
Daario "I am sure that your son or daughter will be as beautiful as you are,my queen."
"Thank you very much." You exchange smiles and Hvitserk snickers and grinds his teeth. "Well, I am getting very tired-"
Hvitserk "Come on then, let's go to bed. It is fairly late."
"Sounds good. Thank you all for joining me! If any of you need me, you will know where I will be. Good night." They all say good night to you and Hvitserk walks you up to bed. When you get into your chambers, you realize that you have yet to write to Ivar, so that is what you do before getting into bed.
Once you two are in bed, you both get exhausted instantly. Being in each other's arms just brings the two of you so much comfort that you can fall asleep in the matter of a few minutes.
Hvitserk "We haven't slept together since the siege."
"Has it really been that long?" You say as you look up at him.
Hvitserk "I'm afraid it has."
"You seem sad, Hvitserk."
Hvitserk "I am not sad, princess. I am just happy to have you back in my arms."
"Well we will be here in Wessex for quite some time, so we will have plenty of quality time to spend together, alright?"
Hvitserk smiles, "Yes, my queen."
"Oh don't start!"
Hvitserk "What? You don't like it when I call you my queen?" He says as he plants kisses over your neck, "You don't like it?"
"You play too much."
Hvitserk "Play? I'm not sure that playing is the right word."
"Then what are you doing?"
Hvitserk "Seducing." You blush and wait for his lips to crash onto yours. The kiss is pure bliss to the both of you. Especially giving the fact that it has been a while since your last kiss. Your breathing picks up and so does his.
Hvitserk "Are you still tired?"
"Can't say that I am."
Hvitserk "Good, neither am I." You both giggle and continue what Hvitserk started. The day was wonderful and exciting to think about a new guidance to your kingdom. But now, it is just you and Hvitserk and you two are in your own little worlds, where it is just you and him.

Losers Club Plus One Part 10
A Richie Tozier x daughter!reader series
Read the previous part here or go here for the full series masterlist.
A/N: Hi there! It’s been a while, I know, and I’m truly sorry! There has been so much going on in my life and I simply lost my motivation to write. However, thanks to a very dear person, I have regained said motivation and I am here to give y’all some content! The next part is already being worked on and I hope to publish it very soon!
Anyway, this is about 3k words long. I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
“Bill, we’re at the library. Where are you?” Mike asked the second Bill answered his phone. The incomplete Losers Club Plus One was gathered around him, trying to listen in on what they were talking about. To say that they were worried was an understatement. But the fact that Bill had picked up was relieving, to say the least. It meant that he was still with them. It meant that IT hadn’t gotten to him. It meant that he was more or less safe. It meant that Bill was still alive and not doing anything too stupid.
“IT took a-a little k-k-kid- IT k-killed a little k-kid right in fucking front of me.” Bill sounded distraught, heartbroken. He had been crying, probably still was crying. Y/N, who was close enough to Mike to listen in on the conversation, especially felt a strong urge in her to just hug the man and tell him that it wasn’t his fault. Because it really wasn’t. But Bill thought differently. It was his fault that Georgie was taken by IT, Georgie had been taken because he hadn’t been there. And Dean, the little kid, had been killed because Bill hadn’t been fast enough. It was Bill’s fault, in his mind, and it would always be.
“No, no, no, no, no,” Mike jumped out of his seat. He had known Bill when he was a kid, he knew that Bill often made stupid decisions, and Mike was sure that Bill’s want to protect the Losers from IT was kicking in just then. If there was one thing each of them remembered about Bill, it was his unintentional heroism as he was trying to protect his friends.
“Look, just come back to the library, we can talk about the plan-“
“I’m gonna go kill IT. I don’t want any of you to get near IT. I’m gonna kill IT.” Bill said through gritted tears before hanging up, falling into a quick jog towards Silver. It was only a matter of seconds until he and Silver were fast enough to beat the devil. And the devil, they would beat.
“He’s gonna fight IT alone. Alone!” Mike said, almost as though he was concluding the very short call he and Bill just had. Mike was scared. Not only for Bill who was driven to do the stupidest things, all by Pennywise, but he was also scared for the rest of his friends. The people who had once gone down the drain with him, explored the sewers with him, fought IT with him. But most importantly, he felt scared for the new generation. Because if they failed now, if the ritual didn’t work and all of them were to end up dead, what hope did the children have left? IT would continue to attack children, eat children, tear families apart.
“What?” Richie mumbled more to himself than anyone else. And, almost as though he had the same train of thought as Mike, he looked at his daughter. The girl he had watched as she grew up and had taken care of nearly every day of her life. He felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach as he thought of the things IT would do should he and his friends fail to kill IT once and for all. Or, should she be able to escape Derry, the things she would have to live through as she got back home to LA. Would she be able to provide for herself? Who could she go to once he was gone? How would she handle all the paperwork? And oh, all those moments ahead of her that he was going to miss. Graduations, relationships, first jobs, first travels, all the accomplishments and big events in her life that he would miss. The moments that would fill her with pride but also shatter her heart if he wasn’t there.
Y/N looked up at Richie. Her mind was blank with pure worry. She hadn’t thought further than what would happen to Bill just yet, but maybe it was for the better. Maybe it was better that she didn’t worry her head with too many consequences and the horrors of IT, the true horrors of IT that she had yet to face.
“It’s- it’s about the group. The ritual doesn’t work without the group. Doing it together was why it worked.” Mike’s fear was growing, steadily consuming him. Like a shadow covering the little light of hope, he had left after noticing that the remainder of his friends had come to the library. He had felt so hopeful when he saw all of their faces, despite the horrid circumstances, in the library, knowing that they had gotten their tokens, knowing that they would face IT with him. He had trusted Bill to come back as well, he knew that Big Bill was known to stick to his friends. Leaving them to fend for themselves was not like Bill. Not at all. This wasn’t Big Bill talking, this was Bill, the author with the childhood trauma, talking. The man who had no idea how to properly end a book. They needed to show him how it’s done.
Y/N was gnawing at her thumb. It was sore and it stung a little, but it provided her comfort. Not much, but every single bit of comfort was more than welcome. Eddie saw, and pushed her arm down, hoping it would pull her out of her thoughts and get her to stop hurting herself. A million arguments as to why she shouldn’t do that, shouldn’t nibble at her nails when she was nervous, ran through his mind, he was ready to spill them out, but he bit his tongue. Y/N surely didn’t need that right now. She needed someone to take care of her. She needed her father.
With anxious eyes, Eddie searched for Richie.
Richie, lost in his thoughts and fears, wasn’t one to quickly notice. He didn’t even properly listen in on what the Losers were talking about. He heard Ben speak. Voice raspy, heavy with worry. Then Bev. Her voice was airy, light like she didn’t want anyone to hear her words because she didn’t want them to be true.
Richie looked up. He noticed that he hadn’t heard either of his loves speak up in a while. His gaze landed on Eddie immediately.
The man had slung one arm very awkwardly around his daughter, almost like Eddie wasn’t sure of his role in that particular moment, nor did he seem very confident with it. Both Eddie and Y/N were looking at Richie with raised brows and huge eyes. They resembled a pair of helpless puppies in a way.
With a few quick strides, Richie reached the pair and pulled his little girl close to him. Y/N leaned against her father. It felt strangely foreign and yet so natural to be so close to him. Her whole body seemed to still be a little confused with what was going on, how to feel about Richie, how to act around him. But Y/N knew him. And she knew his comfort. Richie was something to hold on to. Someone who had always been there. Father or not, she needed to feel at home. And that was exactly what Richie was.
Home.
“Oh, we’re not going to like this, are we?” Eddie asked, making Richie and Y/N listen in on the conversation around them again.
Y/N looked at the group. Everyone suddenly seemed much tenser. Arms crossed, faces cold, almost sorrowful looks in their eyes. Sighing, and then-
“Fuck.” Y/N whispered as something clicked in her mind. Shit was about to go down.
Derry had turned dark. Very dark. But not only the sky had lost its light, the occasional lightning on the horizon being an exception, but the town itself seemed to change. It was like the town had become one of ghosts. Barely a soul left a trace. Very few windows were lit. It was like time had stopped around Derry and no one was alive, or at least truly waking anymore. Everyone except for the Losers Club Plus One.
Y/N found herself feeling more and more like she was asleep. She couldn’t say it had been since arriving in town. Coming to Derry was strange. It was like she had started reading a book from the middle. She had a very small knowledge of what has been happening and tiny snippets of explanations were thrown her way, but nothing really. It just wasn’t enough. And the more she lost herself in the book, the twisted storylines and the even more confusing actions of the characters, the more she felt like nothing was real. Like whatever was happening wasn’t really happening and she had actually fallen asleep while reading a book.
But every book also had an ending. And not all of them were happy endings.
“Whatcha thinkin’ about, squirt?” Richie broke the silence in the car. Richie and Y/N were riding together, just like Mike and Ben and Bev and Eddie. All of the pairs were ready to beat silver. Desperate to beat silver.
“Don’t know… Just… This place, I guess. It’s strange, isn’t it?” Y/N looked at her father. His face, every now and then illuminated by the scarce light of the streetlights all around Derry, seemed so young, yet he didn’t act like he usually did. Even Richie ‘Trashmouth’ Tozier seemed to be intimidated by the situation he found himself in.
“It is. And I never missed it.”
“You couldn’t even remember it until Mike called.”
“Because I didn’t want to.”
“So you didn’t want to remember Eddie either?” Y/N smirked.
“Damn you, squirt. Sometimes I really wish your mom would have swallowed.”
Silence.
“Do you think things will change when we get home? Like between us?” Y/N asked curiously. But there was a sliver of hurt in her voice. Richie sighed.
“I don’t think anything is going to change unless we make a change. If you don’t want things to change between us, they don’t have to. We can act like Derry never happened when we get home. We can forget about all of this.”
It was strange hearing Richie speak all wise and serious. But it felt nice. It felt nice knowing that he took Y/N and her worries seriously and didn’t just flip them off as irrelevant.
“I don’t think I want to forget.” Y/N mumbled more to herself than to her father.
Richie’s car caught up with the other two. He hadn’t noticed how far they had fallen behind until he noticed that he could barely see the other cars before them. That’s when he sped. And it felt nice. It felt like he finally regained at least a little control over something. The last time he felt so powerless and so small compared to the world was when he entered the house on Neibolt Street for the first time. When he saw how Eddie got hurt. When he tried to reposition Eddie’s broken arm and was trapped in the same room as IT.
When the group split up for the first time.
When everything somehow shifted. And they were the world’s oldest 13-year olds.
“I can see Bill!” Y/N exclaimed, sitting up straight in her car seat, hand shooting to the seat belt buckle.
“Fuck.” Richie said as he watched Bill pushing a bike away. Was that silver? Richie was sure that he somehow had gotten his trusted bike back. How exactly, Richie didn’t know. Things had a way of coming back in Derry. But it wasn’t important. What was important was getting back together.
“Bill!” Beverly yelled, effectively stopping Bill. He turned to look at her just as he was about to enter the house.
Y/N felt like she was trapped inside a bad horror movie. The house she was facing was dark, the wood it was made of looked like it defied the laws of nature as it still stood. Y/N felt like she should feel silly, she should not be able to take this house seriously. It was the definition of a bad idea, but somehow, she felt compelled to show respect. Something about it felt intimidatingly evil. She knew the house would be no good, but she didn’t expect the place they would fight IT in to be looking as shabby yet scary.
“No!” Bill yelled back as he watched the group step closer to him and the building. They all were there. Bev, Mike, Ben, Eddie, Richie, even Y/N. Y/N, who was just a little older than they were when they first encountered IT.
Bill felt tears stinging in his eyes. He didn’t want to risk his friends’ lives again. And he for sure didn’t want to be the reason another kid had to go through what he and his friends did. Or – worst of all – he didn’t want to risk seeing another kid die because of him.
“N-no, you guys, no. I st-st-started all this. I-It’s m-my fault that y-you’re all here. Th-this curse, this fucking thing- It’s inside you all. It’s s-started growing the day I m-m-made you all go down to the barrens. Bec-cause all I cared about was finding G-Georgie. Now I’m gonna go in there, I don’t know what’s gonna happen, but I c-can’t ask you to d-do this.” Bill sounded distraught.
Y/N, subliminally, wrapped her arms around her father’s right arm. Richie acknowledged it, pulling her a little closer, but remained silent as they watched Bill fall apart with the pent-up guilt. The guilt he had been living with, sometimes more and sometimes less consciously, over the past 28 years.
Bill made eye contact with Y/N. He looked at her and saw so much potential in her. So much life, so much she had yet to give the world. And he felt sorry that she was there. He felt sorry for the pain she had endured over the past hours. Physically and mentally. Bill felt sorry for the wounds and the scars that, ultimately, he was to blame for. Because none of this would have happened if he had listened to his father. If he had stopped looking for Georgie. Or better yet, if he never acted sick to avoid playing with Georgie.
Had Bill not been so selfish, Georgie would still be alive.
“But you’re not asking us.” Y/N told Bill. “We’re here because we want to be. All of us could have left, we are free to go. But we didn’t.”
Bill sighed, running a hand through his hair to push it back. It felt sweaty, his whole head felt heated and the slight breeze of evening air felt nice. Relieving.
Richie looked funnily at his daughter. A part of him was scared she might tell the story of how they almost left if it wasn’t for Stan the man. Another part of him, however, registered that she wanted to be there. Be there, at Neibolt, with them. And it scared him to death. Nausea washed over him again and Richie had a hard time not showing just that.
Beverly picked up something from the ground. Something long and rusty. To all the Losers, it seemed to make sense, seemed to be a missing piece from a puzzle. Only Y/N watched on, visibly confused.
“Well, we’re not asking you either,” Beverly replied.
“We didn’t do this alone then, Bill. So, we’re not gonna do this alone now.” Mike added.
“Losers stick together.” Ben.
A pregnant pause. The air was thick with tension as the Losers made it clear that Big Bill wouldn’t go in there on his own. Like they had proven to one another once before. When they were nothing more than a mismatched group of kids that fit together perfectly.
The only sounds outside the house were crickets chirping in the night, an occasional roll of thunder and the wind lightly blowing through the grass. No one dared to speak up. No one dared to say another word. But not all words had been spoken yet. Each Loser was just waiting for the next move. The words that would decide how they were to proceed.
“So, does somebody wanna say something?” Eddie broke the silence. And with that, decisions were made. The Losers would, once more, stick together.
“Richie said it b-b-best when we were here last.” Bill replied, looking at Richie expectantly. Richie now looked taken aback. He couldn’t remember ever saying the right thing at the right moment. Even Y/N looked at her father, a hint of curiosity on her otherwise confused face.
“I did?” Richie asked, still not remembering. He felt the Losers’ eyes on him, all of them waiting to hear the familiar words again. Richie thought for a moment.
“I don’t wanna die?” he asked. His daughter loosened her grip on him and shrugged a little.
“Very reasonable.” She mumbled to herself.
“Not that.” Bill’s voice sounded hoarse. A few moments of silence as Richie thought again, trying to remember what he said that day.
“You’re lucky we’re not measuring dicks?” The Losers looked at Richie, unimpressed. Y/N, however, had to fight back her giggle, but a tiny snort escaped the girl. She couldn’t hold herself back at the unexpected and yet so typical statement from the man she grew up with.
“No…” The Trashmouth whispered to himself as his friends failed to answer. The group seemed to ease up a little despite the situation they found themselves in.
“Let’s kill this fucking clown?” Bill grinned at that. The Trashmouth had found his words.
“Let’s kill this fucking clown!” Richie repeated, this time more eager. With that, the group found their spirit. The Losers Club was back and ready to kill a bitch. With that, the Losers entered the house that they knew was potentially the last place they would visit.

Enjoy! 🌿❤️   word count: 2.652
Arón Piper x reader🌿
The bed is empty againg for the third night this week. You miss him, you miss his touch, you miss his kisses. You miss all the moments you had together. The trip you took together to Ibiza for your three year anniversary seemed like it happened a century ago. You didn’t even had dinner together since two weeks ago. He’s the sweetest person alive, he’s smart and so talented, you find him perfect in any way. But something happened to him in the past weeks, you couldn’t tell exactly what, but he was changed. He started going out with his friends every night and coming back after you fall asleep on the couch waiting for him or even didn’t come back at all. Some mornings you wake up with a text from him telling you how sorry he was because he stayed the night at Omar or some other friend and didn’t tell you about it, instead of waking up with him beside you. You didn’t mind at first because you needed to study, but you still wanted him to come behind you and rub your back or hug you tight when it felt like everything was too much.
It was already past eight when you texted him. He never stays this late on set. You wished this wasn’t another night you had to sleep alone. You got tired and your heart hurts you so much watching him doing this. You don’t even managed to find a reason for his behaviour. It was your fault? You haven’t done anything wrong. When on the screen of your phone popped a new message, your heart trembled. But it wasn’t Arón telling you he’d be home soon. It’s Danna, your dearest friend asking you if you would want to catch up at the bar, trying to cheer you up. You‘ve met because of Arón at the premiere of Élite Season 2 and bonded a beautiful friendship. She is so sweet and funny, a caring person and so lovable. No one could ever hate her.
“Esta bien, de acuerdo” you responded to her text and let a sigh out. What could go wrong? You can’t stand being alone in this big house. You changed  really quickly into something worthy of getting out in and left the apartament only with your phone, keys and some money. You are not planning to stay long in case Arón comes home. In the cab you recieved a message from Arón telling you he was at Miguel’s place helping him out with something. You frowned as your eyes became wetty and your chest pressed by a weight too heavy, making hard for you to breath properly. That was the last drop and the glass was full. You closed your eyes and tried to breath in and out several times in order to calm down. This night is your night and nothing could ruin it. As you approached you saw Danna and Ester chattering outside the bar, waiting for you. You blinked to make the tears disappear and put the brightest smile on your face. The girls embraced you and when you tried to enter the bar, Danna staied behind and looked at you, “You know, we always go to the same bar every time. Why wouldn't we change the location this time?”
“What's up with you? We just got here.” you regarded her.
She asked Ester for help by looking, but you realised something is going on. You turned and looked inside the bar trying to figure it out, but your heart stopped as you saw your boyfriend there, at a table with Miguel, Omar and some other people. There are some empty beer bottles on the table along with an almost full ashtray. You swallowed the lump and shaked your head as Danna placed her hand on your shoulder. You bypassed Ester and entered the place, going through it as you made eye contact with Miguel and saw his expression changing. You sat down at the bar ordering a Mojito while Danna and Ester accompanied you.
“(y/n), what happened?”  you drank from one sip and ordered another one.
“Nothing, let’s drink, chicas!” you could see only Arón’s back, but that was enough to make you feel like crap.
-------
Some drinks later and too many glances at Arón, you saw him moving and coming to order maybe a new round of beers. A gem of mixed emotions formed in your stomach at the thought that you are not ready yet to confront him. He indeed ordered a new round of beers and he didn’t even noticed you.
“Danna?” he noticed her.
“Hola, Arón” she smiled trying to cover you, but he saw you anyway.
“(y/n)? What are you doing here?” he forced a smile, approaching you.
You sighed, “I’m out with my friends. Or only you are allowed to do that?”
“What’s the matter with you? Joder, you are such a pain in the ass sometimes!” you couldn’t believe what was he saying. His eyes were so red and you could tell how much alcohol he consumed: a lot.
You rolled your eyes, “I’m a pain in the ass? Excuse me that I care because I had to sleep without my boyfriend three days in the last week.”
You frogot about the people around you,“Yeah, well this is your fucking fault-”
You stopped him,“How’s this my fault?”
“You are so possessive and you never let me beath, Jesus!” Miguel approached and placed his hand on Arón’s shoulder. He has a rough facial expression and you could read only anger from his eyes. He hated you that much? You couldn’t find anywhere the sweet Arón that you fall for. Instead of him, there is this angry guy looking menacing at you.
“Come on man, before you say something you would regret later.” Miguel didn’t looked very drunk, actually no one of Arón’s friends were as drunk as he.
“No, the girls wants la verdad.” he shaked his head and faced you. “You know why I’m out there fucking girls every night? Because you just don’t understand my life and my needs, you’re not a public person like I am. And you will never be, because you are not good at anything! You don’t know how to make me happy anymore.” A sight heard and surprisingly it wasn’t yours. His words shocked everyone because they know how much you love eachother. Especially how much he loves you. Loved you. A tear fall down on your cheek but didn’t bother to wip it away. You were right when you said he has changed. His words stinged you in the heart, you didn’t know who is this man anymore.
“How can you say that?” your voice is shaky. “After everything I’ve been through beside you?After all those moments I waited for you and forgave you everything? After so many times I came back?” Danna tried to grab your hand and show you she’s there for you, but you avoided her touch.
“Maybe that’s the problem, you know? You came back every fucking time. Maybe I hoped that you wouldn’t come back!” your anger pumped into your body as the breathing accelerated.  “Come on, Arón, don’t say that!” nobody really dared to say something, but Miguel knew both of you would regret all those words sooner or later. It’s so embarassing to have an argue in front of so many people. “No. Maybe you are right. Maybe I did wrong coming back, maybe I care too much and maybe I tried too much to save something that died a long time ago. Maybe I tried to ignore all the nights out and everything you did because I love you, stupid. But that’s over, as you wished.” You didn’t even bother to hide the fact that he hurted you so much and let those tears run down your cheeks. You sighed, “I can’t do this anymore.” Danna looked at you concerned as you managed to put your shit together and grabbed the stuff you had. Arón seemd to revive because of your words, but everyone were watching him like he did the biggest mistake of his life. You turned to look one more time at Arón. “And don’t worry, the apartament will be cleared until the morning when you’ll manage to come back from one of your chicks.” you laughed ironically. You left the bar under everyone’s eyes. Arón stood there still unable to do anything and watched you as you left with Danna following you closely. “(y/n), wait!” Danna attentioned. You stopped just to call a cab and get away from there. “(y/n), he’s drunk. He didn’t mean it.” “Danna, it’s done, alright? Let’s move on!”  It was two in the morning and the cab arrived quickly. You love Spain so much, Madrid was your home for more than three years, however you have nowhere to go but home. You get into the taxi with Danna never leaving your side. Staring at the bright city, you felt leaked of powers. You didn’t want to fight anymore, you had enough. As you arrived at the flat and started to grab everything from its place to stuff into the luggage, you started crying. You finally let those emotions to consume properly and Danna helped you, though she didn’t agree with any of this. She said he was just drunk and stressed, he didin’t meant any of those words. But he did, he wanted to hurt you and he succeded.  “What are you doing?”, Danna asked as you turned on the computer. “I’m printing the plane tickets. In the morning I have a flight to Italy.” you shrugged. “That’s good taking a break and visiting your parents.” she smiled with compassion. “I’m moving back home, Danna.”  ------- The morning found you in your way through the airport, leaving as soon as possible Arón’s apartament, in case he would came back. You took all of your things and gave him back all the t-shirts and hoodies you’ve been wearing through the years. The memories are haunting you, they are literally everywhere. Those moments from the night before didn’t made you love him less, but now you are afraid that you might never fall out love with him. Three years he had been your best freind, lover, brother and dad, all in one, made you feel so much love and even thinking he might be the one you end up with. Sometimes when you had dinner together, you let that crazy mind of yours to fly away and imagine you and him, one day, married and even with a kid. You ironically laughed and caught Danna’s strange look. She never left your side, take care of you, made you breakfast and hold you while crying. And there she is, beside you because she doesn’t want you to get through this alone and flights are always so emotional. You arrived an hour earlier, always being maybe too punctual. Arón used to say that you are exaggerating with the plans you made for being able to get somewhere in time. But he used to say that he loved that so much about you.  You somehow managed to find those brown curls you love so much among the hundreds of people in the waiting area.  You stopped suddenly and grab Danna’s hand, “It’s here.”   Your voice sounded strange and she raised an eyebrow at you, “Arón is here!”  “How did you recognised him through this milions of people here?” she rolled her eyes. “At least we know you are still obsessed with him.” “You are terrible!” you slapped her hand gently as she smiled devilishly. You stare at him as you approached. He was wearing black sunglasses, looking at the floor, bouncing nervously his leg. Beside him was Miguel, with a hand on his shoulder, talking. He didn’t looked like he was paying attention. You tried to pretend you didn’t saw them, but Miguel’s voice ruined your plan.  “Danna, (y/n)! What a surprize!” he smiled at you. Arón instantly searched for your sight. You avoid looking towards him because you know you would melt immediately and would forgive him.  “(y/n)...” Arón stood up and made a few steps into your direction. You didn’t move, but still avoiding him.  “Please at least listen to him. He cried all night and he’s more heartbroken than ever.” Miguel whispere to your ear and then pat your shoulder before retiring with Danna. He took a deep breath, “I’m the most stupid man in this world, (y/n). I know I’ve hurted you so much, not only now, but in the past years. But I have an explanation for the last weeks.” “Please skip the details and the numbers of girls you have made out with.” your heart broke only imagining those things.  “It was only one girl, but I don’t remember her name. That all, only one girl two weeks ago. It was stupid. I mixed drugs with alcohol and it wasn’t a good choice. When Miguel found me...” he stopped and you could see some tears running down. You cupped his cheeks and wipped them away. You gave him half of a smile, with your eyes witty as well. “When Miguel found me, I was passed out, with some girl next to me.” You were crying too, thinking of him that way made you crazy. He wasn’t cheating, he was under the influence of drugs, those things washed his brain.  “I was so angry at myself and afraid. I was more afraid because of your reaction at the fact that I tried those shitty things than you knowing I fucked a random girl. ‘Cause you know it was a big mistake that sober I would never do, right amor?”  You let a sigh out as you wipped your tears away. You couldn’t see him properly, “Why have you done those things? Why did you tell me those words last night?”  “When I came home the other day and you welcomed me with the brightest smile and told me how much you missed me though I’ve been away only one night, I felt like a monster. When you told me that day how proud you are of me, I realised what amazing woman I had beside me over the years”, he was hurting too. “You could have told me-” you started, but he stopped you right away. “No, I couldn’t. If I would have told you, you would have hated me so much. I deserve it. But I tried to fix it. The boys helped me through the past weeks, but when I saw you last night, I realised you would never forgive me. I couldn’t stand the thought of losing you. But I made a scene, thinking if you would maybe scream, you would make me hate you as much you hate me. But you didn’t, you showed me how perfect you are.” he tried to speak among sighs. “I don’t hate you, amor! Telling me this tings, even two weeks after, showed me how brave you are. You don’t realise, but if I were you, I wouldn’t ever have the guts to tell you. I don’t hate you and I don’t love you less than when I fall in love with you.” Before everything, you hugged so thight, like this embrace could erase the past weeks and what you’ve been through. You saw in distance Danna and Miguel looking at you smiling, and they high-fived proudly. He kissed you so sweet. You missed this. You missed his touch, his smell, his lips, his smile. You missed him terribly.   “This is the last call for the flight to Italy!“ You smiled at him as you grabbed the two tickets from your backpack,“That’s our call.” He laughed and shaked his head, “You are amazing!” You started to walk towards the gate holding hands after he kissed your forhead.

Thank you so much for the kind words!! I appreciate it so much bro 🥲, I know I might be overdramatic and I’m being serious when I say this I’m just venting right now cause I am MADDDD, but let me spill the beans sis (do ppl still say that?)
my community or my town is known for being “accepting” bs though. Because when I came out as bisexual immediately i regretted it I started saying or thinking “I wish I was gay or straight” because the amount of biphobia I received from both lgbtq+ individuals and straight people is insane and I feel really weird about it because now I’m questioning my gender and I’m like people are going to see me as this weird “pick me person or that weird jellybean” and all these stereotypes. EVEN when I came out as gay I wasn’t “gay enough” or I didn’t fit stereotypes for my group and lgbtq+ friends, I didn’t dress or act the part and I’m not saying everyone is like this or the whole community is. I’m just stating on what I’ve experienced for both parties and I’m just really scared a little bit more when I came out as gay because it felt awful not being accepted by a community that was supposed to be an accepting and a safe place for me. When I came out as bi I shit you not. It was as if I was being pushed out and people started saying stuff about me like what you said and when I said I was gay again or it was a mistake “haha!! Sorry!! Just kidding April fools guys!!” I’m not joking I’m not lying when I say, “my Friends” and my “gay or lgbtq+ friends” welcomed me back with opens arms it was fucking awkward asf, pretending like they never said shit about me or never did shit to me. It really left this shitty feeling inside me. GODDAMN I LOVE SAYING SHIT 😩👉👌😤
yeah it’s been a really eventful(crush) couple of months but I just needed to rant sorry for venting and crap I really needed those words you said to me I just want to get out of this countryyyy😩
This is fucking cringey so unless you want to end up like gumball and hot dog guy stay🤺 back 🤺 BACK 🤺I SAY🤺 “The Amazing World of Gumball: Season 6, Episode 7”
But orange soda(crush) was like the sweetest, kindest, did I neurona sweet but she was the sweetest thing to me even when I came out they treated me the same and she stuck up for me and all this cute shit, they’re so cute LIKE ASDFHKKKK.O I swear to THE LORDDDD and they switch to this cutie to this BADDIEEE. Ahem excuse mwah for ranting about this absolute GODDESSS I just *sniff* can’t control the *hornky love* damn this is cringey. If you’ve read this far thank you for your time and hasta la vista baby 🔫🔫🕴🥷 ( I just wanna hold hands 😩😩😩🥲🥲)
Thank you for venting and I'm glad I could help even if it was small!
I get you, I thought I was straight for the majority of my life - liking women was my big shock and then turns out - it was the opposite because I'm a guy.
Play with gender, it's a construct anyway and even if you find that you're comfortable the sex you are and your gender - don't feel like you have to stick to the binary. Cis white rules of gender and sex don't apply to the LGBTQ+ community and also the fact people wanna stick to a sexist and colonized idea of gender is just WACK
Biphobia is bad, there's just so much ugh around it but I do gotta feel bad for lesbian's. I've been finding so many posts about how their treated and the conflicts they go with the bi community and it just really sucks.
Like highschool musical; we're all in this together.
Despite the biphobia I've experienced from straight girls, I'm very proud of my sexuality and I hope you get to be aswell. Anyone that blows steam up their own ass about being an ally or supportive to Everyone - most likely it's a scam. They claim to be so great for being a decent accepting human but they're the issue.
Like with truscum/transmeds
nothing wrong with believing in dysphoria and wanting/needing to medically transition - I have dysphoria and present my identity as very binary. It's okay to want to be cis with your gender or out of binary - it's all about what makes you comfortable!
I want to medically transition but when you start saying that's how to be trans, there's only one way to be trans and you must want to be cis and get all the surgeries and hormones. No! No you don't. And being non-binary is completely fine and valid!
We don't need cis straight approval and if they can't take a community seriously because they show new ideas and concepts to how sexuality and gender work - then you're the problem.
The way truscum trans people wanna see gender is the social norm, the usual way. The way people are comfortable with and will be more likely to accept. It's the colonized way of gender as there's plenty of non white cultures who have a whole different view on how gender and sexuality is.
Sorry I got so oofed with discussing trans stuff I know the topic is biphobia but it made me think about as fortunately I've experienced more hassle about my gender than my sexuality. No one should get any hassle from anyone because fuck off.
Hope everything goes well with your crush! They sound great!

44 (The Annual Birthday Rant)
THE BEST BIRTHDAY GIFT I EVER RECEIVED FROM A STRANGER
What I’m about to tell you all happened about twelve days ago.
I was walking outside of my local grocery store when an African American man approached me. He slowly approached with a wide grin on his face and was dressed in an old brown secondhand suit that was a few sizes too big. Although his physique indicated he was maybe ten to fifteen years older than me he looked much older and worn. He had a story to tell
“Now, I’m not gonna hurt cha,” the man said.
I stood and smiled hesitantly.
“How can I help you?” I asked.
“You probably don’t remember me, but we met before… a few years back.”
I searched through my mind, but found nothing. “Oh really? Where did we meet? A book store event? A school?”
The man stopped his approach. He stood safely about ten feet away.
“We met here.”
My mind still drew a blank.
“Anyway, sir, I don’t want to take up too much of your time…. But I wanted to give you this…”
He reached into the pocket of his oversized suit and slowly pulled out a healthy wad of nicely folded cash.
And then in that instant. I remembered.
It happened two years ago in 2017. I bought groceries and was carrying the bags to my car. A homeless African American man wearing tattered clothes hobbled with a limb over in my direction. He was in rough shape. He clearly hadn’t showered in weeks and his body appeared gaunt, and malnourished.
“Hey, man, I was wonderin’ if you could spare some change?” he asked.
I placed my groceries into the trunk of my car and pulled out my wallet. I had just gone to the ATM because I was going to go out to breakfast with some friends after dropping off the groceries at home.
I pulled out a $20 and gave it to the man. His eyes popped open wide and a huge grin crossed his face. I would typically only give a few dollars in a situation like this, but today was special.
“Aw, thank you, sir, I really appreciate it! God bless!”
Just as he was about to walk away I stopped him.
“Wait,” I hollered, “Hold up.”
The man turned and looked back at me. I paused for a moment thinking about what I was about to do.
“*sigh* Today’s your lucky day.” I said
I opened my wallet and gave him all the cash that was inside.
“Here. Take it all.”
The man was flabbergasted. “Wh-….. What?”
“You look like you need it way more than I do. There’s about $400 here… Just take it.”
“Wh…wh…why are you doing this?” he stammered
I paused for a moment. Was I really doing the right thing? You hear people tell you not to give money to homeless people because they’ll just go use that money to buy drugs or alcohol, but I proceeded with my decision, “It’s my birthday today, and every year I always make it a point to do something special for someone to make their day better, and today you’re the lucky person, I guess.”
The first time I ever decided to be generous on my birthday was at a local car wash on my 35th birthday. Now, I never found much value in the machines that car washing facilities provide. Those contraptions that you would drive your car though to get washed. It was simply a series of spray hoses and soap suds being lazily dragged over your car by a set of waving rags. The real cleaning job was done from the guy after that process. The guy who would drive your car off to a dry corner of the lot and scrub off those tough stains with a spray bottle and a towel. Here in LA, they were most likely illegal immigrants earning a measly wage just enough to get by here in Los Angeles (one of the most expensive cities in the country) The man who cleaned my car that day spent a half hour wiping off the dashboard, and the tires, and even parts of the door joints you wouldn’t normally expect a car wash employee to clean. The guy was cleaning my car better than I would have ever done myself, and when I approached the car it was absolutely immaculate.
The car wash was only $19.
That day, I gave the man $40.
He was so grateful he shook my hand with a smile, and in exchange I felt amazing. I helped make his day a good one and it was an absolutely wonderful feeling.
Ever since then I try to do something kind for someone on my birthday. It’s my gift to myself.
In the years following I would give $40 tips to waitresses, $60 tips to a trio of buskers, I once bought an entire box of candy from a kid who rang my doorbell trying to save up money for camp. That was about $75.
But this was $400. What the hell was I doing?
The man waved off the money. “$400?! That’s too much,” he responded, “I can’t accept all that! A dude gets stabbed on the streets carrying that kind of cash around”
“I want you to have it, and I don’t want to sound rude, but you look like you need this money way more than I do.”
He stood hesitant. His own pride was preventing him from taking the money.
“What are you doing with that much cash on you? You a doctor or something?”
“HAHA! No, but there was a time my parents wished I was.”
The man looked at me with a hint of suspicion.
“You’re crazy. How do you know I’m not gonna go use this to go buy crack or something like that?”
“HA HA! Are you?” I laughed. The thought of the possibility of my own hard earned money being used to buy illegal drugs was somewhat humorous to me at the time.
“N- NO! NO! I won’t! I promise! But are you sure you want to give me all this? I don’t even know you.”
I hesitated, half thinking for a split second that I would perhaps reconsider and just give him an extra $20, but what would an extra $20 do for a man who needed so much more help than that? What if he had enough money to change his course in life if he really wanted to? From that perspective, $400 seemed like just a drop in the bucket.
But maybe it was also a start?
“I’m not sure, but I know that no matter how you got into this situation, I know it’s not because you’re a bad person. You’ve probably just hit a string of bad luck.Hell, for all I know maybe you WILL blow all this money on booze and drugs, I don’t know… But what I am hoping, is that it gives you a chance to get back on your feet if you really want to…”
The man glanced back at the money.
“Take it. No strings attached. Do whatever you want with it. Buy booze or crack or whatever you want with it. I’m not gonna lecture you on how to live your life because, dude, you’re already totally down on your luck and I think that you just deserve a little kindness. You know the mistakes you’ve made and you don’t need to explain yourself to me or anyone. I just thought this money would help make things a little bit easier for you, that’s all.”
The man looked away for a moment. His lower lip trembling. Then he slowly glanced back and took the money.
“Thank you….. God Bless you, sir. I really appreciate it.”
“Take care of yourself.” I replied as he walked away.
The man walked away and never looked back.
Now here we are.
Two years later.
Standing in the same parking lot in front of the same grocery store.
My jaw drops open.
“Holy shit! I remember you! You’re that guy! LOOK AT YOU! I DON’T EVEN RECOGNIZE YOU!” I shouted.
“Now you remember me, right!? HA HA!”
This man’s voice once a whisper was now strong and deep as if his lungs consumed every molecule of oxygen around him and projected it out like water from a fire hose. He was no longer gaunt, but healthy, if not slightly overweight. His hair was clean and trimmed, but he still carried himself awkwardly with a shaky newfound confidence that now occupied a body that once resembled a dilapidated house.
“You look amazing! Where have you been!?”
“Aw man, It’s a long story-“
“I’ve got time!”
“Well-“ he hesitated
And then I paused.
“Wait. I’m- I’m sorry. It’s none of my business. You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to, but I just want you to know that I’m really REALLY proud of you, man. I know we don’t know each other, but dude, you’ve completely changed. I don’t even recognize you. You look amazing.”
There was an awkward pause in our conversation. We were like two friends who had just reunited after a long absence, but suddenly also realized at that moment that we were also two complete strangers who knew nothing about one other. The man took a deep breath, “I’ve been coming around to this grocery store every now and then hoping I would run into you…I’d stand out here waiting for you for a half hour or so hoping you’d come by to buy groceries… I wanted to thank you for the kindness you showed me a few years back and… and I wanted to finally pay you back.”
He grabs my hand and presses the nicely folded bills into my hand. The folds and creases tell me they’ve been sitting folded like this for quite a while.
“$400. Every cent of it.”
“Hey, you don’t need to do this. It was my pleasure. I’m glad the money helped, you can keep it.” I reply.
“Well… “ he paused, “I don’t want it. Too many painful memories from it.. That day you gave me that money I took it and I used it all to get high.”
“Oh…Shit… I’m sorry, man. I shouldn’t have-”
“And afterwards there were some more really rough months after that. I felt so ashamed. I hated myself and I didn’t wanna live no more so one day I couldn’t take it anymore and I went over to the Colorado Street Bridge and I was gonna climb the fence and jump off…. I was gonna kill myself and end it all… but I chickened out.”
Tumblr media
(FYI, The Colorado Street Bridge is the bridge you see in the movie, LA LA LAND)
“Man, I was so scared, and I was crying on the ground and I was thinking about my wife leavin’ me… and how I let my son down, and now he had his own son.. you see, I’m a grandfather, and I got so messed up I couldn’t be around any of them, you know?”
Meanwhile, my groceries were sitting in the hot car. My milk was going to go bad, but I continued to hang on to his every word.
“So shortly after that incident the cops pick me up off the side of the bridge and they take me to this local homeless shelter. I get cleaned up, I get a little something to eat, and then later on that evening they gathered us all around in the cafeteria at one point and they read us this story called, After the Fall.”
I was shocked.
“Wait... What? That’s my book.” I responded
“Yeah, I know! The book changed my life, man! Humpty Dumpty finding the courage to change his life like that? It inspired me! It made me want to change! And so I see your name on the cover and one day I went to the library with my social worker to look up more of your books and I see your picture in one of the books and I thought, HOLY SHIT! That’s the guy who gave me the $400! I recognize those eyebrows from anywhere! This is a sign from God!”
“HAHAHA!”
“So, I’m getting’ all psyched up and inspired and the social worker helped me get me a sponsor, and after a while I got myself cleaned up and started working around town. I used to be a carpenter, and I was doin’ odd jobs here and there and so now I work at a hardware store.”
He pauses for a moment and takes another deep breath.
“You see, I got myself a work related injury years ago and I had to stop working. Then when my insurance wore out I was still in pain and I started trying to find any kind of drugs I could to help with the pain, man. It was awful. I got addicted to painkillers, over time it cost me my marriage, I lost my house, and my kid moved away and he started a family of his own…. I haven’t seen my kid in years. They all wanted to help but you can only be helped if you want to be helped, you know?”
“Yeah, I’m so sorry to hear that, man”
The man begins to cry a little
“And I knew they cared about me, but…. But I let them down, and there’s just a point when the people you love just can’t stand seeing you hurt yourself no more, and they couldn’t stand watching me tear myself apart like that, you know?”
The man’s story cuts me like a knife. I’m starting to well up with tears. We’re now two strangers crying in front of each other in the middle of a grocery store parking lot. The manager of the grocery store who I see often sees us crying outside
“Is everything okay here guys?”
“Yeah yeah yeah, We’re good. We’re just talking,” I rapidly answer as I wipe tears from my cheek. The manager walks back inside.
“…Uh… Weird question… You know my name now, but, do you mind if I ask you your name?”
“…I’m Randall.”
“Well, I’m glad you got your life back together, Randall. I’m sorry about all that stuff that happened with your family but I think what you accomplished with getting your life back together was huge and, I mean, I don’t know you, but man, I’m so proud of you.”
“Thank you, brother. I just wanted to see you in person so I could give you back that money… oh, and I was hoping you could sign this for me….”
Randall reaches inside his oversized brown suit and pulls out a copy of After the Fall and hands it to me with a pen.
“I’ve been carrying this around with me for a few months now hoping I’d see you. The shelter gave it to me. Would you mind signing it?” he asks.
“I’d be honored, Randall… Do you want me to make it out to you?”
“Please make it out to Randall the Third”
“Wait… your grandson?”
“I’m going out to see my son and his family next week. They live out in Arizona.”
“That’s amazing. Are you nervous?”
“I’m excited to see my grandson, but I’m terrified I could screw things up with my family again.” Randall mutters.
“Well, you made it this far. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Just take it one step at a time.” I reply.
“Just like Humpty did. One step at a time.” says Randall.
I sign the book...
To Randall III, Your grandfather is a true inspiration to me.
Dan Santat
“Thank you, God bless.”
“No, Randall, thank you. This was the most amazing birthday gift I think I’ve ever received.”
“Oh, it’s your birthday today?!”
“No, it’s in twelve days. Heh… it’s when my milk expires”
“Oh shit. I should let you get going man, I’m sorry I took up all your time!”
“No, man. No! I’m so glad you did this and that we could catch up... and…. Here.”
I pull out the $400 and I hand it back to Randall.
“What are you doin?”
“I know you don’t need this, so I’m not giving you this money. Get something nice for your family, you know, a housewarming gift or something, that’s all. If you ever want to pay me back you know where to find me.”
In this parking lot.
In front of this grocery store.
“Use it to buy a huge ass teddy bear for Randall the Third. Shit get him a Playstation 4 or something I don’t care. As far as I’m concerned you worked so hard to get where you are now and you earned every cent of this. This money should be yours”
“HA HA HA! Aw sheeeeeeit….Thank you, brother.”
I grab Randall’s hand and I place the nicely folded wad of cash into his palm.
“Well, I should get goin’…” Randall says.
“Yeah, me too.”
Then after a few quiet moments we exchange a hug.
“Thank you, Dan Santat…. God Bless you.” Randall whispers
“Take care” I reply
We complete our goodbyes and then head off in our own opposite directions.
I’ve received lots of amazing gifts over my 44 years, but never one as incredible as the rebirth and transformation of Randall.
Peace.

Catch me if I should fall
Summary:  “I, Hugh Everhart, swear to my best friend Georgia Rawles that if something happens to her, I will take care of her loved ones as if the same blood ran through our veins, as long as the sun and the sky shall endure.” He ignored his broken voice and put his hand over her fist, “But I also swear that I will never let her die. If she should fall, I will catch her.”

I want to start by saying this fic is dedicated to my mother @dawniebb. She basically introduced me to the wonderful headcanon about how Georgia and Hugh were best friends and she actually asked him and Simon to take care of Adrian if something happened to her. Thank you for saving me from my cursed theories.
This fic was in the back of my head during two weeks, I think, when you were worried about the support Hope Called Themselves the Renegades would have, and I wanted to cheer you up with this. But I didn’t had the inspiration to actually do it until now. Kinda late, considering HCTTR blew up, AND IF YOU HAVEN’T READ IT YOU FUCKING SHOULD.
I still wanted to give this to you tho. My sister Nodrian told me it was a good idea. Dime que esto no tiene la misma energía que un niño dándole a su mamá un dibujo que hizo en el kinder xd
Also #Nodriannoleasesto. Spoilers. Sorry.
Also x2 I took inspiration from Tightrope, a song from The Greatest Showman soundtrack. I’m obsessed with it, I’m sorry, I can’t help it.
Also x3 this is very self indulgent
Age of Anarchy
Year 20, Month 5
Hand in my hand and you promised to never let go,
we’re walking the tightrope.
High in the sky,
we can see the whole world down below.
We’re walking the tightrope.
Never sure, will you catch me if I should fall?
Well, it’s all an adventure
that comes with a breathtaking view.
He had heard of Bunny before. Evander and Tamaya had an encounter with her not so long ago when they were investigating some robberies that occurred in an area near the headquarters. She always stole jewelry or food. Bunny was not dangerous.
But she could jump.
Simon probably would have turned invisible to distract her and catch her off guard, Evander would blind her with one of his lights, Kasumi would stop her with a wave of water, Tamaya would throw lightning at her… but Hugh could only chase her and pray that she would get tired before he did.
They reached the bridge that connected the west and east side of Gatlon City. The sea was just below them.
Georgia passed over his head. Just in time.
Bunny was in the air when Georgia grabbed her by the wrist. The girl began to squirm and screech like a rabbit caught in a hunter’s trap.
“Not so fast, Bunny,” Georgia exclaimed. “Now—” she held out her hand, “—be a good little girl and give me that.”
Hugh caught up with them. He leaned against the bridge railing, under the dim light of a post, to catch up on air. Secretly, of course.
Bunny was not a little girl, she was already past fifteen. Yes, she was less than five feet tall and had the most crooked and huge teeth he had ever seen but that didn’t mean anything. Georgia needed to stop treating criminals like they were misbehaved children from daycare.
Although he had to admit it was fun watching her do it. It always made them mad.
“Never!” screamed Bunny.
“I know that it is not yours. It is not correct to steal things from older ladies who open their homes to you,” Georgia said as if it weren’t some general knowledge that stealing was wrong.
“That lady hates me! She hates me!” and bit her hand.
Georgia winced but didn’t let go.
“Hey, no biting!” Hugh ordered.
Bunny turned to see him, more furious than ever. “Nobody gives me orders, Captain.”
Then, Bunny kicked him in the chest and pushed him out to sea, letting out a more maniacal laugh than he’d ever heard come from a human.
He realized what had just happened until Georgia’s hands grasped his. At that precise moment, the violent waves that were under him crashed against the foundation of the bridge and Hugh felt a chill run down his spine.
Metal does not float.
Georgia brought him back to land and floated beside him. There was no sign of Bunny anymore, but he knew where she had headed.
“We need to go after her,” he muttered.
Georgia crossed her arms. “Not today, Captain. Let her go.”
But they couldn’t let her go. They both knew they could help her if Bunny let them, why wait for the next time they see her?
What if there was no next time?
He was about to tell her all that, when Georgia out of nowhere kicked him between the ribs slightly harder than usual. “Next time stay away from bodies of water,” she said reproachfully.
Hugh laughed and held the spot where he had hit him. “Yes, mother.”
Georgia was unfazed.
“I’m serious. What would have happened if I hadn’t held your hand? You do not know how to swim!” She took him by the chin to force him to turn to see her. “You could have died!”
He jerked out of her grip. Georgia sighed. She massaged her temple as she slowly sat down on the dirty pavement, frowning, and with her jaw clenched.
She knew he didn’t like it when people touch his face like that.
“But … I didn’t die,” Hugh said. “What’s this all about?”
She turned to see him with teary eyes like she didn’t recognize him. “Are you not afraid of your own death?”
Hugh scoffed. “Are you?”
Georgia looked away. It can’t be.
You are afraid?
“I have to confess to you, Hugh. Death has terrified me too much lately.”
Impossible.
He sat by her side. Georgia leaned on his shoulder without thinking twice, invading him with familiarity.
“It’s just… well, I guess you’ve noticed that Adrian gets super nervous every time I go out,” Georgia explained. “And I have told him many times not to worry, that I will return safely. I even tell him that phrase— ”
Oh, he knew that phrase by heart. “Not even the darkest of nightmares, the loneliest of nights, or the worst of troubles—” he said.
“Can with the boldness, bravery, and joy of Lady Indomitable!” Georgia finished with a raised fist. “You should get yourself a catchphrase like this. It would be good for your brand.”
“I’ll think about it.”
Georgia went silent again. “The thing is, no matter how many times I tell Adrian I’m going to be okay,” she murmured sadly, “he’s still scared.”
“And you get scared too?”
“It’s not that,” she assured. “I know that I am the best and you all would be dead by now without me, but honestly, the five of you are already adults.” She gave a soft laugh from underneath. ”You’ll be just fine without me.”
He took her hand discreetly. They were smaller than his. And warmer. I wouldn’t.
“But Adrian… he’s so young,” Georgia continued. “He couldn’t live without me and the worst thing is that I couldn’t live without him. I get nervous at the slightest sign that he’s in danger. Like yesterday, when Kasumi bought him that lollipop, remember?”
Of course, he remembered.
“You stayed all afternoon watching Adrian eat the lollipop in front of the TV,” he replied, trying not to laugh. “Tamaya told you to stop harassing him.”
“Even Simon asked me if I didn’t think I was exaggerating. Simon! The one who told Evander when we went to the beach that if he didn’t put on sunscreen, he was going to get skin cancer and he was going to die right then and there!”
“In his defense,” Hugh said, “you can get skin cancer if you don’t put on sunscreen.”
“He wanted him to put on sunscreen at midnight. Do you know what the definition of ‘night’ is? It is the time of day when there is no sunlight.“
“But you agreed with him and forced Evander to put on sunscreen anyways,” he commented.
“In my defense, motherhood changes you.”
Silence returned.
The positive side of having been on the same team for the last ten years and spending entire nights silent to not give away their location is that there were no longer any awkward silences between them.
Georgia started playing with Hugh’s engagement ring. “Are you excited for your wedding? Because I am.”
“Are you trying to change the subject?”
“Maybe.” She took it off and put it on herself. “Are you excited?”
“Of course. Tomorrow is the big day.” Georgia gave it back to him like nothing. “I hope you already wrote your speech.”
“Obviously. I don’t think I should walk you down the aisle though. I will look much better than you.”
“That’s debatable.”
They had barely managed to get suits for him and Simon. Casually, the father of Kasumi’s new friend was a minister and had agreed to marry them off. He had even lent them the backyard of her house, where he had beautiful rose bushes and a well-kept lawn.
They were all very excited. Evander was about to physically fight with Adrian because they both wanted to be the ones who hold the rings. In the end, Adrian won, not only because Georgia wanted Adrian to deliver the rings so badly, but also because Evander was no longer a lovable nine-year-old and wouldn’t have the same impact. He was even starting to grow facial hair. Tamaya told him that he was going to have to shave for the ceremony and that if he didn’t, she would personally take care of removing every last hair from his body.
Simon managed to please Evander when he told him that he could be his best man. Kasumi would be the maid of honor. They had bought her a secondhand pale pink dress, but on her, it looked like it had just come out of a magazine. The five of them wanted Tamaya to be the “flower woman”, but she flatly refused. She wanted to be a godmother and walk Simon down the aisle. She was not going to settle for less.
It wasn’t going to be the wedding of the century, but it was the perfect wedding for him.
“You have to promise me something.”
He turned to see her. Anything.
“If something happens to me, I want you and Simon to take care of Adrian.”
The answer escaped his lips immediately. “No.”
“Excuse you?”
Hugh shook his head. “I’m not going to promise you that.”
“Why the hell not?” Georgia asked, angrily.
“Because nothing is going to happen to you. Not if I can stop it.”
She rolled her eyes. It wasn’t something she did very often. “Wow, so heroic. Do you want a medal? Come on!” she exclaimed, holding his arm tightly. “It doesn’t cost you anything. Pinky promise, okay? “
“Lady Indomitable, you are already a thirty-year-old woman,” he scolded her.
“What, you can’t promise things for pinky anymore when you turn thirty or what?” she asked. playing confused.
He clenched her jaw, fighting to stay immune to her words. “No, you can not.”
“That’s debatable. The good news is that I’m twenty-nine. Come on … Or I’ll tell Simon to send you to sleep on the couch.”
Now it was his turn to roll his eyes. “I’m already sleeping on the couch. Tamaya doesn’t let us sleep in the same bed, she says it wouldn’t be very Christian of us.”
“Okay, if you pinky promise me what I told you, I will convince Tamaya to let you sleep in the same bed as Simon, deal?”
A tempting offer. But he couldn’t accept it.
Hugh could promise many things. He could even lie about promising many things. However, he couldn’t lie to Georgia, much less could he promise her something that he wasn’t going to keep.
Because nothing was going to happen to her.
“I’m not going to promise you that,” he sentenced. “You are going to raise Adrian. And when Simon and I have kids of our own, they and Adrian will be like siblings, and they will play in the backyard of our great mansion, and I don’t know, probably they will wear matching Christmas sweaters.”
“Our kids like… siblings?”
“Yes. We have discussed it,” he replied. “We want to have children. You know, adoption.”
“Oh, adoption, yeah…” Georgia mumbled. “I thought it was a weird way of asking me to be a surrogate mother.”
She raised her eyebrows. “And is this a strange way of offering yourself as a surrogate mother?”
“Stars, no. Although I make very hot babies.”
“That is so wrong,” he replied with a laugh.
Georgia was laughing. Her cheeks were flushed with embarrassment. “It was so wrong, I’ll never use that adjective to describe a baby again.”
“Please.”
Georgia took his hand again. The question he asked hit him like a bucket of cold water. “What would you like me to do for you if you died?”
He couldn’t. He couldn’t lie to Georgia.
“I don’t like to think that I am capable of dying. I am indestructible.”
“Indestructible, not immortal,” Georgia stressed. “We are not gods.”
He gazed at the stars. When the entire city had electricity again, it would be difficult to speak to those who were now watching them from above.
He had to see the stars while he could.
“I wish we were. That way we would never die. ”
Georgia sighed and squeezed his hand lovingly. “Dying is not why we all think it is. I believe that real death is being forgotten.” She looked up at the stars too. Her dark eyes were illuminated by the moonlight. “That’s what I truly fear.”
He would have liked to tell her that he too was afraid of that death. To tell her that he was also absolutely afraid of being forgotten, and not at all of the idea of becoming another star in the sky.
But it would be lying.
And he couldn’t lie to Georgia.
“You’ve convinced me. I’m going to make you the promise you want.” Georgia squealed like a little girl and hugged him quickly. “But if I’m going to promise something, it has to be… stylish. With big words.”
“Wow, a ritual oath. I like it.”
The two of them sat across from each other. The only thing that was heard for a while was the sea waves. It no longer gave him the creeps at all. Hugh thought carefully about what he was going to say and Georgia couldn’t help but smile.
How could she find the beauty in such a morbid oath?
“Ready?” he asked.
Georgia straightened up and extended her little finger. “I was born ready.”
Hugh locked his pinky with hers. It felt like they were back to being the teenagers they were when they first met. They had both changed a lot. Georgia had longer hair, stronger muscles, and a less scared expression. However, she still had the same perfect smile and kind eyes as when he first saw her.
He wondered how he had changed.
Georgia got tired of waiting.
“Look, I’m feeling nice today, so I’m going to promise the same back to you, all right?” Georgia asked. “I’ll go first. I, Georgia Rawles, swear to my best friend Hugh Everhart, that if something happens to him, I will take care of his loved ones as if the same blood ran through our veins, as long as the sea and the mountains shall endure.” She gently placed her other hand over his fist and added, “But I also swear that I will never let him die. If he should fall, I will catch him.”
Hugh was left speechless. He could feel the tears about to come out of his eyes. Get a grip, Captain.
Georgia noticed immediately. “Are you crying?”
Hugh removed his mask and wiped away a tear. “Modern men are not afraid of their feelings.”
“What a sentimental softie.”
But she also had tears in her eyes.
Why were they like that?
He put the mask back on. It was his turn.
“Okay. I, Hugh Everhart, promise you— “ Shoot. “Um, I don’t want to copy you. For what would you like me to say instead of ‘mountain and sea’?”
“How about… the sun and the sky?”
It was perfect.
“Well well.” He took a breath. Here we go. “I, Hugh Everhart, swear to my best friend Georgia Rawles that if something happens to her, I will take care of her loved ones as if the same blood ran through our veins, as long as the sun and the sky shall endure.” He ignored his broken voice and put his hand over her fist, “But I also swear that I will never let her die. If she should fall, I will catch her.”
And if I ever break this promise, I have no idea what the hell I would do.
Suddenly, a knife tore through the air violently and slammed into the light pole. They both broke free and backed away. Georgia was immediately on her guard, prepared to smash the face of anyone who dared throw the knife at them. Hugh leaned closer to get a better look at it. It had a dark green handle and a golden point. There was a folded paper at its end.
Nightingale.
He opened the letter. Nightingale had more chaotic handwriting than usual.
Captain, the Savior has learned that Sandman has been the one who gives him nightmares and has sent a plague to finish him off. They need help right now.

“Indomitable,” he called her. “Look.”
Georgia took the letter from him. Her eyes widened. As soon as she finished reading it, they both turned to see each other.
Ace… Alec knew David had given him away. And he was going after him.
He had to do something.
“See you at headquarters.”
Georgia got in his way. Her face was more serious than ever. “No, I’ll go,” she sentenced.
“What? No, you won’t.”
“You will not arrive there running. Not on time,” she assured. “They need help right now.”
Hugh looked away. “But—”
“Hey, hey.” Georgia grabbed his chin again, with a love that only she had. “Remember. Not even the darkest of nightmares, the loneliest of nights, or the worst of troubles…”
He sighed and smiled for her.
“Can with the boldness, bravery, and joy of Lady Indomitable.”
She squeezed his nose playfully. “See you at headquarters.”
Hugh watched her fly away at top speed until she disappeared in the dark. He turned and ran back to headquarters. The rest of the team needed to know what was happening.
He could lie to everyone. But she couldn’t lie to Georgia.
Hugh had already made a promise. And he had to fulfill it.
I will catch you if you fall.
