So I finally read the MDZS novels, and mhmmmmm, the reason that WangXian slaps especially hard for me, personally, is that it’s just Kirk/Spock with a different salad dressing.
The ship dynamic is essentially the same, you have a class clown and Flirt that is also The Best at Everything and Knows It (WWX & Kirk) and an ascetic angsty mommas boy with Big Feelings that he can’t deal with so is instead simply A Stone Cold Bitch (LWJ/Spock).
when i was reading the novels I was just like… this feels like a convoluted K/S AU, it was like deja vu. Anyways, I get why the girlies like it lol
