PatB Review- Happy Narfday

**Before we get into it, I want to apologize for how long this has taken me to get out. I've been juggling a few different projects around and this always got pushed to the back burner.**

Oh dear, you guys want me to start off angry, don't ya?

Okay okay, I said I'd praise every episode at least a little, so I'll start off positive:

The first few minutes were actually pretty decent

Loved the song in this segment, I laugh every time Pinky starts singing

Any episode that gives more insight as to how Pinky thinks has some serious potential, and this one did NOT disappoint in that regard

It really had the potential to have a seriously sweet ending, or at least an interesting ending

Unfortunately...

That's where the positives end

When I tell you that my heart dropped when I read the episode summary before even seeing the segment, it fucking DROPPED.

If you don't need to read an overly negative rant of your favorite segment, here's your que to dip now, I won't be holding back just because I've had a year or two to simmer down.

You're here for the long haul, eh?

Alrighty then

Let's start with the premise: "Brain is forced to celebrate Pinky's Birthday"

There is no better way to piss me off than to word a summary like that. Brain not wanting to celebrate his own birthday is one thing, but to have him despise the idea of celebrating his ONLY FRIEND'S birthday is something completely different. These are the kinds of plotlines where Brain is at his most insufferable because he has to put himself aside. I was actually really worried that Talladega Mouse would turn out this way, but it thankfully didn't (maybe I'll do a review on that one next if it wins the next poll XD).

Brain being 'forced' to do something means he's just going to complain or lie or be antagonistic for the duration of the segment, and in this one he surprisingly manages to tick all of those.

But enough about the premise; I'm sure y'all are more interested in what I think of the meat of the episode. I will tackle this in 3 sections- The Build-Up, The Moment I "Walked Away", and Why the Apology Sucks- and then I'll wrap everything up with my final thoughts. Let's get into it!

The Build-Up (Everything leading up to the reveal)

I went into this segment knowing that there was a 50% chance I wouldn't like it because I HATE plotlines where Brain treats Pinky like he's a 'chore' to deal with, but I was hoping I could be pleasantly surprised.

And the first few minutes actually aren't that bad. Like I said, I love the song, and Pinky actually almost saying that he doesn't want to take over the world all the time could have led to a very interesting conversation.

However, that all changes when Brain decides to lie about the amulet he finds. And I've gotta stop to rant about his 'idea' because it's fucking stupid. So...his plan was to give it to Pinky as a present, take it while he was sleeping, and then use it for his plan (which we all know he wasn't going to enact that night because he had already been up for a FULL 24 HOURS). How stupid does he think Pinky is? It was kind of implied earlier in the episode that Pinky wasn't even really expecting Brain to get him anything. Did Brain think he could just take Pinky's present, one that he loved to the point that he was going to sleep right next to it, and then have that be the end of it? No shit he's going to notice. It makes more sense to just HIDE it for the rest of the episode and have Pinky realize Brain was planning behind his back.

You'll soon realize that a lot of my issues with episodes like these are linked to how if you think about what Brain is doing for more than 5 seconds, it immediately falls apart (i.e. Brain making B.R.A.I.N unfeeling and dumping his feelings on it, making a pocket dimension where he's married to Julia, throwing Pinky under the bus in court).

Anyway, Pinky finds Brain, gets his 'present' and then says this:

"I don't need anything but your friendship to have the best Narfday ever! And I mean it! Zort!"

It is at this point that I knew I would be cringing anytime Brain lies through his teeth. Like I said before, my feelings do end up making me view this episode in a very weird light. Just, Pinky wanted to spend a day with his best friend and not have to worry about ANYTHING. It was a plus to get a gift because he already loves being with Brain so damn much. At this point in season 2, Brain hasn't realized how much he should value his time with Pinky

The next song segment proceeds and then we get to...

The Moment I "Walked Away"

Pinky's confrontation was one of the hardest scenes for me to get through due to one important factor: second-hand rage. I get angry for Pinky a lot of the time ESPECIALLY in the reboot, and this episode had me reach my peak.

For starters, you get to hear Pinky try to get Brain to relax but Brain's trying to lie to get the amulet, which results in it getting destroyed and Brain blowing up at Pinky. This leads to the big reveal that Pinky's birthday had long since past and that he could never find the right time to bring it up until now.

Brain finally realizes he's been a dick and he apologizes and asks for forgiveness. This is where I get irrationally angry

When I tell you I couldn't sit though the scene, I mean every few seconds, I had to pause the video and pace around my room, mentally walking myself through Brain's behavior because I just couldn't comprehend it. What doesn't help is that the structure of the episode prevents any of what Pinky or Brain do in this moment to hit as hard as it really could have.

At this moment, I'm getting into my personal feelings about how I would have written the episode, because the way it is- it's just infuriating:

For starters, I'd make it a full 22 minutes (or at least somewhere between 11-15) because the episode was too damn short for the story they were trying to tell. If they wanted Brain to actually EARN any sort of forgiveness, you can not have him apologize and then have Pinky immediately forgive him. Pinky has more of an edge than that, he's gotten Brain to properly apologize before; let him run off in a huff, or just have him tell Brain "I need some alone time", or SOMETHING

You gotta move the reveal to earlier so that we can see Pinky take some time before he forgives Brain, or give time so that Brain can actually TRY to make it up to Pinky

Brain's apology consisted of him putting himself down and THEN asking for forgiveness; he says NOTHING that implies he won't do the same thing again if he thinks he can get away with it. The reboot gave us one of the darkest interpretations of this character and they give him such an elementary school apology that I just can't accept it.

The whole "returining to the status quo" thing can happen, but why did it have to zoom in so damn quickly? This show just doesn't like letting anyone sit in their emotions

You know what would have been interesting to see? Brain blows up just as he does in the episode, but Pinky goes to get some space and drops his birthday list. When Brain goes to pick it up, he sees what the last thing on Pinky's birthday list was: "Try to take over the world with Brain". Brain has a moment to himself where it is completely silent and he has to live with his mistake and try to make it better. Brain eventually finds Pinky and then gives a PROPER apology

Speaking of the "apology"...

Why the Apology Sucks

I want you to just THINK about the apology again for a second:

"PerhapsI did end up solving my Absolute Zero theory after all, Pinky. For I'm an Absolute Zero when it comes to being a friend. Can you ever forgive me?"

Brain's never been the best at issuing apologies, but this one got be riled up, so I felt the need to add this section in to analyze exactly what makes this not work.

An Ohio State University study cited 6 elements of an effective apology:

More specifically:

Looking at the 2 key elements, while Brain's apology meets the first requirement, he fails to offer to fix the problem himself. Instead, Pinky is the one to ask to do the last thing on his list and Brain allows it.

What's more is that out of the 6 main elements, Brain really only meets 2 of them through his words: Expression of Regret, and Request for forgiveness (the article even talks about how the request isn't the strongest element)

Like I said earlier, Brain spent a majority of the apology saying how bad he was instead of showcasing that he fully understands why Pinky is upset or how sorry he is or saying how selfish he was or simply offering Pinky another chance to do something for his birthday now that he knows it was several weeks ago.

I know I'm being extra hard on Brain, but if you've heard any of my past rambles, you know it's because of how much I love his character and I was actually rooting for his arc he was going on in the reboot.

Final Thoughts

Happy Narfday was an episode that not only met my expectations, it exceeded them in how I expected Brain to be portrayed in this episode.

Have any of you watched "A Family That Poits Together"? Well the first couple of minutes of that episode is EXACTLY how Brain was written for over half of this episode's runtime. Brain being unreasonably angry and annoyed at Pinky the whole time gets irritating and the ending just sends me over the edge in second-hand rage.

Is this an awful episode? No, not by a long shot by this season's standards. Was it the most disappointing? Actually no, that award goes to a completely different season 2 episode.

What this episode represents in my eyes is an attempt to make Brain be more considerate of Pinky, and by my standards, it failed horribly

Recently I've been getting back into playing DND, and since I'm also trying to get back into interacting with people on this site, I'd figure I'd share with y'all my new-ish hobby of making dice!

For about a year I've been seeing a lot of Instagram reels of people pouring resin into molds and inking the numbers of their homemade dice, and I've always been inspired and mesmerized by these videos. And it just so happens that right before the new year I was gifted the materials to make my own resin dice! So here's what I've made in the last few months (lots of info-dumping/interest sharing under the cut):

This was my very first attempt, done specifically as a test run without any sort of pressure to look good. I was going for an oxidized copper look, but the dye cured much lighter than I expected (though it's a translucent dye so I really shouldn't have been surprised), so in the end I got more of an amber color, which I'm honestly not mad about!

I also mixed in some green glitter, since that was the only other additive I had received other than the dye, and it looks alright, but a lot of the chunkier pieces did sink to one side, so I haven't used it since. The numbers are green to compliment the glitter, and I'm happy with how it turned out, although honestly I could have gone with any other color and they would probably still look good!

At the time, I didn't have a pressure pot to cure it in, so there are some pretty significant bubbles (if you look closely you can see a big chunk missing out of the top of the d4), but there honestly weren't as many as I was expecting! Overall, while these dice are nothing special and aren't very interesting visually to look at, for my first set I'm very proud of them! 6.5/10 dice

At this point, I had bought a pressure pot, so I was feeling more confident in my ability to produce more polished dice. This set was inspired by my first ever DND character (who I recreated as my first Tav in Baldur's Gate 3), a wood elf barbarian/druid named Thaedhel. This reminds me that I haven't talked about Thaedhel on this account at all, which is weird considered I even commissioned some dope art for her, so note to self that I need to make a post gushing about her at some point XD

Anyways, back to the dice. This... was my fourth attempt, and I'm still not pleased with the results. That being said, my goals for this set are lofty, so it's still just a work in progress. This attempt has the best color; I was able to achieve a deep forest green that the previous sets lacked, and the white plumes (meant to represent moonlight for a moon druid) turned out beautifully! The white dye is not translucent, so I had issues before with cloudiness, but this is the best result yet. There's even a pinch of glow-in-the-dark mica powder in the white, so the dice actually glow blue once activated by blacklight! Unfortunately I don't have a picture of that, but maybe once I've perfected them!

Now, for the gripes. For one thing, there's a small red flower in the center of each dice, which unfortunately got swallowed up by the dyes and are only visible from specific angles. I now know that I should have included a clear resin window to keep them from getting lost, so that will be fixed in the future. But for the most part, I was happy with them; I had bought a new mold that included a barrel and crystal d4, and once I took them out I thought they had cured nicely, especially since there were no bubbles to be seen. That is, until I inked in the numbers. I wanted to paint all of the numbers copper except for the highest number on each dice, which is a nice bloody red to represent barbarian rage. But once I started to paint them, I realized how deformed these dice truly were; warped, uneven edges and rough faces that made it impossible to cleanly ink the numbers. The picture actually hides it relatively well, but in person these are some messy dice. Oh, well. Looks like I've got some work to do. 4/10 for the color scheme and not much else.

This is my magnum opus, and it's only about two-weeks old. Inspired by my current character, a tiefling bard named Enyo, I was so pleased with how these turned out, both structurally and in terms of color, that I've actually used them in the last couple of sessions (the d20 is 'moderately lucky,' according to my DM). By far, they're my favorite set!

This was my first time using mica powder as a colorant instead of dye, and it looks sooo good in person. I chose the red metallic powder for her Infernal heritage, and the purple powder is for bardic magic. It's color-shifting powder, too, so in person there's greens and reds that pop out of the purple if the light hits in the right way! But imo, inking the numbers is what really brings the set together, and gold felt appropriately classy and regal, plus it pops like crazy! The pictures truly don't do it justice.

This was made with the same mold as the Thaedhel set, and this time I made sure to give the dice some extra time to harden before I pried them out of the mold (I'm guessing that's why the first set came out so misshapen, I am not a patient person lol). It's not a flawless set; there are still a couple of bubbles despite using the pressure pot, but luckily they're not noticeable. And while I wish the two colors had interacted better (I wanted more of a fiery-pluming effect but they ended up mixing and pooling more than I wanted), I still think they came out beautifully and I genuinely can't stop touching and looking at them whenever I see them. Truly some shiny goblin rocks if I ever saw 'em. It's a 9/10 for me.

TR as types of baristas

Hiya again! Thank you so much for your support beforehand! I'm actually really shocked at how many notes I got ❤️ Also before I start this off Imma say it rn but I've been a barista for 3 years now. Anyhow since I still haven't gotten any asks I decided I may as well continue writing headcannons until I finally get some 🤷 Anyhow I hope you guys enjoy ^^

Takemichi is the type who would be happy to be there at first and like he truly is- yeah but give him a few hours of a rush and he still hasn't gotten his break and this boy is literally like "😀hi welcome in! How can I help you today?" and they're like "... are you ok?"

Hina is the type of barista to write SUPER CUTE messages on cups if she has time. Pls everyone loves her for that 😭❤️Because of this she gets so many regulars.

Emma would be the type who always comes in like "i hate it here" but the moment she sees that the chef Draken is working there today she's so happy and peppy. But please keep her on track she sometimes gets distracted because he's working. If there's no customers in and she gets the ok from Mikey she'll go and chat (flirt) with him in the kitchen.

Mikey is the type of barista who attracts so many customers mainly because 9/10 times he's respectful and sweet (unless you're a karen... run). He's also an assistant manager and if you're training with him it's the best because he'll be so nice ;-;. He'd also hide snacks in his apron and eat them when customers weren't in. (pls so many ppl do this XD) He also needs his caffeine bc otherwise he will fall asleep making your frappe (it's happened before it'll happen again... he once forgot to put a lid on the blender bc he was so tired from working a morning shift 😭)

Mitsuya is the best manager. Please I've had a manager like him before. They were so sweet and if they noticed something was off they'd pull you aside and make sure you were ok 😭10/10 best manager I don't make the rules. He's also a really good barista and has the best latte art out of everyone

Going along with Mitsuya if a kid happens to walk in and orders he's so gentle with them and it's so cute ❤️ it just melts everyone's hearts. Sometimes he'll give them a cookie that he'll pay for later and let me just say the parents love him for that random act of kindness 🥺

Hakkai is the type of barista who would give you extra whip cream. Even if you didn't ask for it he will will do it anyway. The presentation on his drinks are just beautiful (just like him) and honestly he'd pay extra attention to customers and would give you some of the best service. He'd be easy to talk to once you get to know him and you guys will talk a lot while doing extra tasks around the cafe.

Baji is the type of chef who blares his music from the back and everyone is like "Baji can you please turn it down" but never does- But his music taste is just so good you can't really be too mad but you might have to have a talk with him about disrupting the customers every so often.

Kisaki isn't allowed in the cafe (Y'all manga readers have a good idea of why.) Takemichi just doesn't allow him in-

if pah-chin sees you have a dog with you he'll immediately also bring out water for said dog and then ask if he can pet it. Please he's such a softie when it comes to dogs it's so cute 😭

the Haitani's.... oh god- they're the type who would be super good workers when there's costumers in but the moment they leave it's chaos. Please- for the love of god never schedule them with the Kawata's...

Ran is the type who would honestly play with any newbie. He'd be like "Oh you're new aren't you! Have you done the initiation yet? You haven't? Oh well in that case let's do it right now^^" then proceeds to try and get the new kid to eat a cake of coffee that was used to make a latte- Lukcily Mitsuya noticed and told them they didn't have to (even though they'd already had some of it ;-;)

Ran is also the type to complain a bit about customers coming like "oh god don't come in we're closing- NONONONO FUCK OFF PLEASE GOD WH- Hi welcome to Toman cafe🥲" then when the customer proceeds to order 6 frappes even though they JUST cleaned the blender. (This is based on a true story on Christmas eve) If you listen close enough you can hear him crying and quietly cursing their luck.

Rindou is just as chaotic but if a karen comes in he doesn't take it lightly. Please he ROASTS them. yeah let's just say that it wasn't pretty but the Karen left after throwing a fit and Mikey having to call the police. (I've had to do that once-)

This is my first Intentional Kandreil y'all (as opposed to like.. the three Accidental Kandreil I've done so far), I hope I don't fuck it up for you XD

"Kevin I swear if you peak I am going to go leak those photos of you from last Halloween."

Kevin snorted at Neil's empty threat, though he dutifully kept his eyes closed, letting Andrew tug him out of the car and lead him down what felt like a wooden walkway. A deck, maybe. Or a pier, Kevin thought as he registered the smell and sound of water, the squawking of gulls above and around them.

"Even if you did, no one would believe they were real."

"I'd leak them right to the Trojans." The laughter in Neil's voice warmed something right in the center of Kevin's chest. It wasn't so long ago that Neil was so... terrifyingly cold. He'd joined them as a rebellion against his father, the bogeyman of the east coast and loyal lapdog to the Ravens - who were the direct rivals to Kevin's much smaller, much wilder group of Foxes. But whereas the Ravens were a legit syndicate that dealt with such things like human trafficking and heavy drugs, the Foxes were a group of barely-organized criminals that mostly just liked to say 'fuck you' to the laws they didn't agree with.

The problem? The laws the Foxes didn't agree with tended to be the ones that directly benefitted the Ravens' front businesses. After all, the Ravens controlled several of the biggest corporations in the country, and they were regularly stepping all over average folks, ruining their lives.

Every member of the Foxes had, in some way, been hurt by the Ravens. They were all determined to get back at them in whatever ways possible. Sometimes that meant framing their executives for fraud. Sometimes that meant blowing up a few buildings. They were a multi-talented group.

The Trojans were a similar group of not-quite-but-still-criminals based on the west coast, and they'd combined forces a few times by now. They also were pros at anything that had to do with the internet. If Neil wanted to make something go viral, the Trojans were definitely the place to go to.

"Jeremy would never help you soil my good name."

"Jeremy would think it is hilarious, do not fool yourself, Day." Andrew's tone was dry and deceptively uninterested, but Kevin knew him well enough by now to hear the amusement hidden between the carefully articulated syllables.

Kevin rolled his eyes while still keeping them dutifully closed. He didn't bother to hide his smile though, knowing the other two would see it and not really caring that they would. It was kind of strange to think of, honestly - that he was here, comfortable being led around with his eyes closed, smiling without care. It was because of these two men, and that... that warmed something inside him. Made it glow. Made it blossom. Made it live.

"Okay, alright. Kevin, you may open your eyes." Neil's grin was audible in his voice, and it was the first thing that Kevin saw when he opened his eyes.

The second thing he saw, though, was the absolutely impossible-to-ignore explosion of orange directly behind him.

"What the actual fuck?" Kevin half-spluttered, but he was grinning, too. He could feel it. One did not look at a violently orange yacht and not grin. He laughed. "This is my surprise? You saw an orange yacht in the marina and had to show... me..." His voice drifted off, distracted and confused as he saw the name of the boat in sharp white script along the side.

The Brightest Day

"Neil?" Kevin blinked, and something giddy bubbled up right below his throat, catching and fizzing. He had to swallow it down, and it took effort to do so, especially as he saw the warm, pleased look on Neil's face, then turned to see a similar expression on Andrew's.

To see a similar expression on Andrew's face.

Kevin stared, because Andrew... Andrew wasn't one to emote. Even when it was just two of them, or the three of them. Even after all they'd been through. Kevin and Neil had learned to find the truths hidden behind his sturdy walls, to accept what Andrew was willing to give them when and however that may be.

And here was Andrew, in the open, looking at him with an almost-smile on his face and an expression in those natures-gold eyes that was unmistakably fond.

Kevin had to take a breath, and he wasn't at all surprised to feel it shake. Rough, strong fingers slipped between his own and Kevin looked over to see Neil's expression had shifted to understanding. If anyone would ever know what Kevin was feeling, how he was feeling it, at any given time, it was Neil. They were so similar in the way they processed the world, and how they appreciated the small gifts they were granted in a life that had been too dark and too unforgiving for far too long.

Andrew's smile was one of those gifts. Arguably, it was the grandest of all.

"Come on you idiots," Andrew sighed as he turned to walk up the short ramp already positioned to bring them onto the boat.

Without further word, and without unlacing their fingers from each other, Kevin and Neil followed Andrew up the ramp and onto the yacht. Something struck Kevin as inexplicably right about that. After all - no matter where any one of them went, the other two were sure to follow, hand in hand.

And when they needed to face a challenge they would face it hand in hand in hand.

"I don't understand," Kevin finally said as Andrew lead them across the deck. "The Foxes don't have the resource to --"

"It did not come out of the Foxes' coffers," Andrew cut him off. He nodded to the menace still holding Kevin's hand. "It came out of Neil's."

Kevin turned to Neil, staring at him in open shock. "You bought the Foxes a boat?"

Neil snorted. "No. I bought you a boat." He paused, then looked from Kevin to Andrew and something passed between them. Some kind of understanding, or agreement. Andrew stepped away from where he'd been about to lead them to the interior of the boat, instead joining the two of them. Once he had, Neil looked back at Kevin and said, "I bought us a boat."

It took a moment. Kevin wasn't stupid, but he also had never expected... This thing, this connection or relationship or whatever that was between the three of them - Kevin wasn't sure it would ever be defined and he had come to terms with that months ago. If they went on forever just being Kevin and Andrew and Neil, just as they were right now with no changes - he would be okay with that. As long as he always had these two men in his life, everything else, he decided, would work itself out.

"Us," Kevin said slowly, testing the word, making sure it really meant what he thought it meant.

"Yes," Andrew said. "Us."

And that... that was really all that needed to be said, wasn't it? At least he thought so, up until Neil tugged on his hand, bringing him a bit closer to the both of them, and said, "Kevin, can I kiss you?"

"Yes!" The word burst out before Kevin really made the decision to answer or even necessarily registered the question. A soft huff came from Andrew that might have been a laugh, but Kevin wasn't able to fully catch it when Neil was already pulling him down.

Neil smiled into the kiss. He kissed him slowly, with a graze of teeth and a hum of adventure. He kissed him like it was just the beginning. He kissed him like he knew it was a first kissed but by far would not be the last. Confident, pleased, satisfied.

Blood was pounding in Kevin's ears so hard he could taste the tremble of his own heart on the tip of his tongue, and when the kiss broke he gasped, already leaning in for more. This time, Neil was not the only one smiling.

By the time the kiss ended, they were no longer holding hands. Instead, Kevin had an arm wrapped around Neil's shoulders, keeping him tugged as close as possible, the other hand resting on the side of his neck. Neil was similarly wrapped around his waist and he was still smiling. Kevin rested his forehead against Neil's, then turned to look at Andrew to find the other man was watching them with heat and affection burning in his eyes.

"Andrew," Kevin said, and his voice rasped. He didn't say the words, but only because he was too high on Neil's fire to put the syllables together right now.

Andrew answered anyway, because he knew Kevin well enough to know exactly what question he was trying to ask.

"Yes," he said. And if Neil's kiss was fire and satisfaction, Andrew's was the ocean and determination. Andrew kissed him like he was going to carve his intentions on his bones. He kissed like he was going to take Kevin apart one sigh and tough at a time and Kevin melted into it, more than happy to yield to the power of that kiss. Anyone who lives near the sea would tell you the same - you don't fight the waves, you let them carry you - and that was exactly what Kevin did.

Neil's hand was stroking up and down his spine. Andrew's was cupped around the back of his neck. When the kiss broke, that hand squeezed firmly, then pulled him just a bit further down so Andrew could place one more kiss on his forehead before he turned to Neil.

Something perfect and delicate and yet, at the same time, positively indestructible filled Kevin up to the brim as he watched the way Andrew cupped Neil's face, the way Neil leaning into that touch, the way fire and ocean wave met in a promise while still in the circle of Kevin's arms. And finally, finally, Kevin had a word for it - for the feeling he got when he was with these two beautiful, thrilling, amazing men.

And it was, quite simply, home.

- i legit don't know how no one thought "hm, something is Off with this one" but no one picked up on them being Different other than the kids smh so i got picked on a bit

- sisters kept asking if they were gay because they had a fixation on katy perry's "i kissed a girl". did not quite know what being gay was.

- put into a gifted program, got confused, never showed up to classes unless the teacher showed up to get them but thinking back was probably supposed to just leave

- wants to be a vet when they grow up

- lots of really Weird ideas that thinking back on now just resulted in spending time alone and thinking or playing alone

I remember one time my English teacher was asking us if you forgive and forget other who hurts you. and my answer was “I do forget but I never forgive” I remember I said it with my most serious voice ever, but everyone laughed at that moment. I’m that kind of person that if I’m forced to be with ppl who hurts me. I pretend that I forget but I never said that I forgive, and waits for the moments when they need me and do the same thing, or the moment when I can cut the ties with them. it is either my revenge or forget about them forever. (I think I’m mean person...my bad?)

never was, and probably never will, I mean according to my personality and who I am. Jimin’s POV

Jisoo’s funeral was 6 month ago. I went there in disguise so paparazzis wouldn’t follow me. And she wouldn’t notice me…

I really felt like shit for weeks. But the boys poured a little bit of faith in me. I haven’t met Y/N since the last time she kicked me out her apartment. I wanted to see her so badly… I wanted to make sure she’s fine. But I knew she wasn’t… Every time I went to see her at her apartment I felt so guilty that I just stared at her door hoping she would come out. But it wasn’t like this. Her neighbour told me she rarely left her house in the first month… And only went out more frequently when she went back to school.

I was really worried. I didn’t want her to follow Jisoo’s choice…I wanted to be next to her… Hold her… Tell her everything will be okay…

But she said it herself. She doesn’t need me. Neither wants me.

My mind was constantly thinking about her. The only times I could block out the sad thoughts when we were on schedule and I had to pretend everything is just perfectly fine. But it wasn’t.

After the 4th month I took Suga-hyung’s advice and actually gave up. I knew there is zero chance I will ever meet her again. Even though that was what I longed for the most.

We just came back from one of our tour concert. The boys went down eating celebrating the high views on our latest MV. But I wasn’t really feeling like celebrating so I decided to go back to the dorms.

When I reached the top of the stairs I realised someone at our door. She was really familiar but at first glance I thought she was a fan. She pressed our bell, but when no one answered she stood there hesitating, and rolling something in her hands.

When I reached closer I realised the familiar face.

‘Y/N…?�� I asked. She turned to me immediately.

‘Oh… hi…’ that’s the only thing she said. Then she looked down. She still hesitated to say anything.

‘What are you doing here?’ I tried to ask it in the least mean way I could.

‘I just…’ she said quietly. She was never like this. She showed what she was holding in her palm. It was one of my rings. I remember I lost it at her place the first time I went there and we couldn’t find it after months either. ‘I’m moving…’ she said. ‘And I found it. I thought I should give it back to you…’ she still didn’t look me in the eyes. ‘I won’t bother you, I just wanted to give back.’ she put it in my hand.

‘Thank you!’ I smiled at her. I bet she didn’t see it because she’s looking down.

‘Then I’m going.’ she started to leave. ‘Bye Ji-’ I panicked.

I grabbed her arm and spun her in between me and the door. She was surprised. So do I.

She didn’t say anything. I looked at her from head to toe. She got thinner. Her clothes looked huge on her. And her hair was shorter. And she was paler too.

‘Why don’t you look at me?’ I asked out of a sudden. She didn’t say anything. ‘Y/N…’ I called her. ‘Look at me…’ I grabbed her chin so she would finally look at me, but she was staring at everything but me. ‘In the eyes~’ I said it in a cute voice. She finally looked at me.

Gosh her eyes are still the most beautiful pair I have ever seen.

‘Hey’ I whispered smiling. ‘Do we know each other?’ I asked. She remembered. A bittersweet smile appeared on her face.

‘I don’t think so.’ I leaned my forehead against hers.

‘Because I think we do…’

‘Jimin…’ she sighed closing her eyes. She was still so beautiful. ‘I’m such an idiot…’

Kaede Kisaragi Watches The Flash S4E01 - The Flash Reborn

SAY HELLO TO MY FLASHY FRIEND!

"My name is Iris West... And I was supposed to marry the fastest man alive, but six months ago he left."

Welp... Let's open with a heart breaking scene, why not?

"I promised him I'd run, so that's what I've been doing these last six months, running as fast as I can."

Iris, in a new haircut that looks lovely, oversees stuff at the lab, while Vibe, Kid Flash and Joe-on-the-car hunt down Peekaboo. Also, Kid Flash, seriously, people don't say "duck" to refer to an avian unless they add "roast" on it, nowadays. The hunt continues, Kid Flash showing off all he can do as he pursues our meta teleporter. Iris sagely figures out that peekaboo is teleporting to every third rooftop, and the team does an awesome takedown of our little fugitive, with the finishing blow by Joe and the CCPD... Also, Kid Flash, sitting down, hugging his knees and tapping his feet together in amusement. Dunno, just adorable.

Ooh, new logo.

So, anyway, 1 out of 3 metas escape nowadays, the team not having the old catch rate. And Joe West makes his feelings clear to Wally: "Nobody feeling 'team kid flash'". I agree. Team Joe West is more like it, am I right? As it turns out, Iris is no longer a fun person, becoming religiously devoted to protecting the city and even programming training sims for Wally. Cisco says it as it is: we're one man down.

At the West home, cecile is discussing her box-moving to the west house, and steps on a landmine when she asks Joe to get rid of his record collection.

"They'll be buried with me when I die." "Maybe we can bury them now and you join them at a later date!"

Cecile's savage, y'all.

As it turns out, CCPD thinks Barry's on a sabbatical. With Julian's departure (awww :( no more malfoy jokes), they need a new forensic. Iris is positive Barry is not returning and tells as much to Joe, who is not happy with Iris's not coping with her feelings about losing Barry. I'm sensing a pattern here, I mean, I just had to watch Kara Danvers try to be Oliver Queen and Batman all at the same time, and it was painful. Don't make Iris do this too, okay show?

Iris returns to her apartment. We find she's... pretty much in grieve mode 24/7. She sleeps in the couch and has her photo of barry facing down.

AND THEN A BIG BOOMING SOUND AND SOMETHING RUSHES BY THE WINDOW!

THAT TURNS OUT TO BE A FLYING SAMURAI...

...This show takes me to weird turns of phrases sometimes.

Then Kid Flash talks japanese to the guy (because we need to make Cisco have funny reactions) and the samurai makes clear: he wants the Flash, not second-best. Ouch. Vibe mocks him for wanting to fight them with a sword. So he does a massive shockwave by plunging the sword down. Cisco, don't mock the villains, that's how they get the jump on you. Also, please tell me I'm not seeing them reference superfriends with a flying samurai.

So, it's been 6 months, and people wonder where The Flash is. And Cisco says they got no choice, they gotta bring Barry back, but the whole team is against it, since the speed force would go kablooie on the city once more if they do that. Cisco however has an idea he's been working on with pretty much the entire CW-verse collection of geniuses, which might stabilize the prison and free Barry. Iris is fully against it, saying she's positive Barry is dead and refusing to even allow herself a single glimmer of hope.

So Cisco goes drown his sorrows... at the bad guy bar... where CAITLIN is bartending. Didn't take the show long huh? She's still clearly refusing to return home though, even though she can apparently control herself now. She knows Barry is trapped in the speedforce. And as Cisco continues to try and talk to her, a guy with an emo hair and a white eye comes into the fray. Someone who Caitlin seems nervous to be around. She does agree to help her friend... Wow, that was a quick resolution.

Iris comes to the lab, but no one is there. She pinpoints the van's location, where the whole team is united to do the thing and bring Barry back (nervous about Caitlin aside). Joe does hug Caitlin and shows he is willing to forgive her. Cisco's plan? The speedforce bazooka. Which will fire a sphere attuned to Barry's genetic code and trick the speedforce into releasing him. The team fires up the energy... the bazooka fires... and there's a system failure.

Uh... what? Umm... Okay... Guess that's that. Iris arrives just in time to give a disapproving look.

...until a speed force gate opens in the middle of a street... and a golden lightning flies out of it... until it slams against a car... Showing a glowing and very naked Barry. With a beard. Who passes out.

Iris chews out the team for trying to save Barry saying they could've killed the city. Chews out Caitlin for running off. Cisco finally flips at her and says: "It's like you don't even want him back". But they get interrupted when cecile calls... The CCPD received a delivery from outside the city: Barry. Who is doing a wall-of-crazy on the CCPD, writing all sort of symbols on the wall. And who is talking... gibberish. Speaking disconnected phrases. So... it appears he may have gone insane. Speaking phrases from all previous seasons mixed up out of sequence. They put him to sleep and take him to the lab, where Caitlin says he's actually scarily healthy. She has two theories: either he's suffering from schizophasia, assigning wrong definitions to words. Cisco thinks he can translate his weird symbols into a message with the proper algorhythm. The other theory? Barry might've been stuck in there for over 10 millenia and gone demented.

Cisco's idea to wake Barry up with Lady Gaga? Best idea ever or best idea ever? XD But Barry continues to speak nonsense. Iris asks to be left alone with Barry. She breaks down on her own denial to accept his being gone, and now that he's here... He briefly glances over her, interestingly enough. Her urging him to become her Barry again causes him to vibrate and rush off, creating a whirlwind inside the labs, sending everyone flying. Caitlin ends up using Captain Cold's gun to freeze Barry. Just in time for Samurai to return. Wally has a plan though. Dressing up as Flash and using his vibrating to hide his face and skin color? Really? He faces off the Samurai, but the Samurai sees through the ruse, giving Wally another beating and putting him out for the rest of this episode with a pierced fibula.

Cisco still is trying to figure out whether barry is trying to give them the answer to life the universe and everything, but Caitlin doubts Barry wants to tell them 42 (I giggled, seriously). I missed Cisco and Caitlin being a duo. Caitlin says it's all greek to her, which makes Cisco both have an idea and quote two comic companies at the same time: "Great Caesar's Ghost" and "Excelsior". The symbols must be like greek writing, not like your regular alphabet. And the code says...

"This house is bitchin'?"

...

*facepalm*

Cisco is depressed he may have wasted his time building the new flash suit. Caitlin tries to comfort him. He says he didn't do it because he wanted to save the city... He just wants his bro back :(

Joe gently shaving Barry's face inside the pipeline... So sweet and sad. Joe and Iris both sit down, unsure how to proceed. Joe admits he's gone back to going to church on Cecile's suggestion, to help him find his way. One thing he heard in there was perfect for him: "Strength means nothing without faith". Cecile told him to have faith, for his strength alone won't do it. And he believed. Iris just needs to find her little faith. Samurai's 24 hours are up, so Joe leaves Iris alone with Barry.

SO IRIS GOES AND OFFERS HERSELF AS HOSTAGE TO THE SAMURAI, BECAUSE SHE BELIEVES FLASH WILL COME FOR HER. THAT'S BOTH STUPID AND AWESOME. IT'S AWESUPID.

Joe desperately urges Barry to save Iris. It doesn't work, Barry still raving, but when he hears Iris is gonna die, Joe is blasted aside when Barry speeds through the pipeline containment... How much strong is Barry now, if he can do that? The new suit is also gone, mind you. And he's running faster than anyone has ever run. Samurai flies through the wind farm, with Flash chasing him closely. As he runs, we can see this new suit is similar to the one from the future, with gold lightning details and a golden belt. Flash runs up a falling wind tower, jumps from it, lands on samurai, grabs iris, disarms his wings, and leaps off... all in one movement. And the Samurai? A robot.

Iris "Barry, you came back to me." Barry "...Always."

THE FLASH IS BACK! FOR REALS!

Caitlin marvels at Barry's super health, and assumes he must've soaked up speed energy, which explains why he's faster now than ever. And the team has a consensus: we are NOT Team Kid Flash, Wally! But we still got the mystery of the Samuroid (thank you based Cisco!). Barry can't explain how he knew Iris was in trouble, nor he remembers his gibberish moment. But he is very happy to be back. Caitlin says she's back too, to Cisco's glee.

Caitlin goes back to the bar, telling the emo guy from earlier to 'tell Amunet she's out'. When he tries to stop her... She goes full Killer Frost on him, giving him a real brainfreeze, and walks off. But by the time she's out, Caitlin fights back to control of her body... She has no control over it.

At their apartment, Iris says how hard it's been for her. Barry says this maybe was a blessing, saying that he feels like everything that was wrong on his life doesn't hurt him anymore... All gone. All he sees is their future together now. They kiss. Police Sirens. Flash goes off to do his thing.

Stinger. Samuroid assembled by a woman scientist. Her boss and her apparently fully intended to bring Flash back. Her boss, a borg-looking guy in a chair, tells he's still... thinking... their next step.

And we're back folks! And what awaits us for this season? We got a good look at our new villain, The Thinker, and his intentions remain a mystery, but if past seasons proved, Barry will have a big challenge. Thing is, he might not have much problem dealing with these challenges with his new badass speed levels and his carefree new mind. But is he really all that carefree as he says? Is this really the arrival of the truly happy and confident Flash we're all hoping to see?

And what about Caitlin, how many times has she lost control of herself like that? What if she loses it altogether?

And when will we get our new Wells? ^^

All this and much more, this season!

Dear lord Quinn. Alright, i’m game. Sit down and buckle up because you about to go on a ride! Though I am gonna put it under a read more because this will probably get long since I’m a babbler. 

Җ - What’s your greatest source of inspiration when it comes to role playing?

Oh man that is kind of a tough one, lets see here. I’ve been roleplaying for so long and there has been a number of times I wanted to give it up, but it has always been my friends who would pull me right back in. So honestly? my friends have always been a source of inspiration for me. Just seeing the wonderful things they create, and wanting to be a part of that has been enough to keep me doing this for about eleven years now. 

ℛ - Are you religious?

To be perfectly honest.. not really. There is a part of me that has always wanted to believe that there some version of a god but I could never fully bring myself to believe in it. I don’t think I’m fully atheist either though. Who knows man, I am just very ?? about the whole thing. I try not to put too much thought into things like that because it’s just too much for me you know? I like to think as long as I’m not a shit head of a person then things are gonna be okay you know? 

♬ - Do you listen to music when you write? If yes, what kind of music?

Yes I do! I can’t handle absolute silence (though that shit is a rarity in my house.) when I am trying to write. So I am always listening to something if I can, plus it really does help me concentrate. As for what kind of music, it honestly varies. I am known for making so many different playlists on spotify. I have character playlists, ship playlists, and then what I like to call my ‘master playlist’ which just has literally every song I’ve ever liked on it. More often than not I am listening to that one for a variety. 

ᚡ - Random fact about the mun?

Um hmm let’s see... I am left handed, and have green eyes. :3 

ಹ - Share a story from your childhood!

Oh man I have plenty, lets see.. I’m sure you want a juicy one though. Okay! So right about when I was.. god 12-13? Yeah around there. I was super in to Inuyasha and I would watch it on adult swim because back in those good old days you couldn’t just binge watch shit online. (Barbaric times.) So I was obsessed with the damn show, and my parents being the little shit they were, decided to play a practical joke on me. Maybe about five to ten minutes before the show was about to come on to turn off the main breaker and making all the power go off in our house and acted like it was a random power outage. Listen y'all, I fucking cried. I screamed and cried and threw a tantrum that no 12 year old ever should. My mom still to this day likes to remind me of how I cried like a baby because I wouldn’t be able to watch my show. 

㉘ - How do you usually spend your birthdays?

Well my family is one that tends to live from paycheck to paycheck so I rarely do anything special. Once you have kids you tend to forget about your own birthday anyways.. or well at least that’s how it has been in my experience. My husband does try to get my birthday off though, and we just relax and spend the day together as a family. ^_^

⨌ - If you ever had the opportunity to clone yourself, would you?

Mhmmm I don’t think I would, because I mean when has it ever worked out well with clones? I think I am happy with being the only one of me. 

ᚖ - Do you wear makeup?

I vary rarely ever wear makeup these days. I had never really been all that big into it (Except for when i was like 5 and couldn’t get enough of it.) but I did wear eye shadow and lipgloss from time to time. However the problem with having daughters is I swear to god they have like a spidey sense and will appear out of nowhere the moment I am trying to put some on. Five year olds are also pretty damn devious and can find your hiding spots for it and make themselves into clowns. So what little I do have is hidden well and high for when my husband and I actually go out on a date. XD 

༺ - Do you have any siblings? What’s your relationship with them like?

I do have siblings! So my father before he got with my mom had my half sister Karly but he never really had any rights to her. He was a good man who paid every dime of child support but my sister’s mom sucked dicks and never kept up with my father’s visitation rights. So I don’t know her all that well, like I legit haven’t seen her in 11 years, the last time being at my father’s funeral. But she is coming up for my daughter’s birthday supposively so that is pretty cool. 

I also have a little brother Wesley! He just turned twenty one back in May, and he actually lives with us. (I live in a house with my husband, our kids, my mom and my brother) I like to think we are relatively close, I mean we don’t go around telling each other our secrets or anything like that. We do share some likes in common and will talk about them. So I like to think we are pretty average for siblings. 

๛ - Share an embarrassing story about yourself!

Oh god where does one even choose? I am a pretty big dork of a person. Oh I know! So I am a pretty spacey person from time to time, and though I’m not nearly as bad as I use to be I still have my moments. So once when I was a teenager, I was talking on the phone with my bff who had recently moved across state and we would often talk on the phone for literally hours. So one time we were doing that, and I went into the fridge to get something to eat, well I put the phone down to grab something. Then being well.. me, I forgot all about the phone and left it in the fridge and didn’t notice for about three hours. When I finally realized my mistake i picked up the phone and it turns out my friend was still on the phone talking away, she hadn’t even noticed I was gone. 

❤ - Are you and/or your muse currently in love with someone?

Well I mean I am a married woman. So I guuuueeeesss I am. Just kidding, yes I am very much in love with my husband, I have been with him for almost eleven years now and it has been the best eleven years of my life tbh. 

As for Leo, I mean of course he is. He is in love with quite a few of his shipping partners. (Julian, Spock, Jim, Mika, Carol, etc.) 

ℳ - Do you think you have a good handwriting?

I like to think that I do, though I rarely ever write anything by hand anymore. I have pretty shitty carpel tunnel and my hands will cramp up like a bitch if I even think about writing for more than like.. five minutes. 

☢ - When was the last time you went to the cinema? What movie did you watch?

Oh man, I never get to go as much as I would like to because you know.. the whole being poor thing, that and my husband works weird hours. The last movie I remember seeing in theaters... I wanna say it was Guardian’s of the Galaxy vol. 2... I think It was either that or Power Rangers. Which ever one came out last, that was the last movie I saw in theaters. XD 

⨕ - Are you a jealous role player?

I would like to say that I am not, however I have had the occasional muse get jealous if one of their favorites is giving attention to another.. but it’s never enough to actually cause problems you feel me? I am normally pretty easy going, or at least I try to be.

Either the kitchen table, which is the perfect height for my laptop & the only place in the house that gets sunlight in the morning, or my bed tbh.

Not writing habits so to speak but I do have a getting ready to write ritual that mostly consists of dragging myself out of bed and going for a walk.

6. Favourite characteryou’ve written?

Mouse!Surana, hands down. I kinda just made her on the spot for that one oneshot and as a result she ended up radically different from my usual OCs (they’re not usually this… driven xD), which made her such a blast to write.

8. Do you have anywriting buddies or critique partners?

@coppercaravan​ has been both for a little bit over a year and they’re such a pleasure to work with tbh.

Honestly it’s the quasiplatonic solavellan fic. I love Tathas, I put a lot of work and also a lot of me into it, I have a lot of thoughts about what’s coming next and I really wish I could finish it already esp since it wouldn’t be that long (like. 8-10 chapters tops, not counting a potential Trespasser sequel) but I haven’t been able to get in a DAI mood for forever x_x

14. What does it takefor you to be ready to write a book? (i.e. do you research? outline? make a playlist or pinterest board? wing it?)

Ideally I’d need the stars to align perfectly on a week with two Mondays, but more realistically what I need is:

-a playlist, or at least a couple artists that’ll put me in the right mood

-character sheets with some basic info + relationship charts + their stake in the plot

-a rough chapter by chapter plan that will inevitably fly out the window by the time I finish chapter 1.

Not really, no.

18. Tell us about thatone book you’ll never let anyone read

So back in January there was that self-insert month thing, and I figured why the hell not, but b/c I’m apparently unable to write self-indulgent fluff and also I was in a Mood it turned into a writing as therapy thing and now I don’t know what to do with it b/c on the one hand I do want to write it & I think it would help me deal with some stuff but on the other idk that I would ever be able to let anyone read it, let alone post it online.

20. Any advice foryoung writers/advice you wish someone would have given you early on?

Length is overrated, short chapters are fine and the only good piece of writing advice is that there is no such thing as universal writing advice.

22. Tell us about thebooks on your “to write” list

… I’m not gonna give you a full list b/c it would be ridiculous but the ones that are on my brain atm are:

-- Présages aka The Novel aka that one story about ghosts that turned into a story about the importance of healthy communication & a good support system.

-- A novella about an aromantic protag that was supposed to be a subplot of the previous but is now its own thing so I can give it the attention it deserves.

-- A fantasy novel that started with me listening to too much critical role and is basically a thinly disguised metaphor for fighting against depression.

(All of them are depression books tbh and I’m not even a little bit sorry.)

And then there’s the fics:

-- A post Akuze longshot feat. Leo, grief and politics.

-- A Leverage/HP crossover feat. pre-canon Eliot, wizards and poor attempts at dragon smuggling.

-- A CCS/Naruto crossover that I’ll probably never write tbh b/c the sheer size of it is terrifying to me, but I like to dust it off every other month anyway b/c I put a lot of thought into it.

24. Do you remember themoment you decided to become a writer/author?

I don’t remember the moment I started to write – that was a long long time ago – but the moment I decided to become a writer I’m pretty sure was when I read The Princess Bride, b/c I very distinctly remember closing the book and going “I wish I’d written that”.

26. What’s the mostresearch you’ve ever put into a book?

It’s kinda hard to tell tbh b/c my research, like everything else, tends to be scattered in short bursts over months/years, but my most recent research-heavy project has been the Leverage/HP crossover, which has led me to a lot of reading on poaching/smuggling as I tried to figure out how one would go about smuggling a dragon.

Turns out there’s no actual book on dragon smuggling but I ended up learning a lot about butterfly smuggling, which as it turns out is

1)a thing

2)very serious business.

28. How do you stayfocused on your own work and how do you deal with comparison?

I don’t. I don’t stay focused on anything, ever. I also deal very poorly with comparison even tho the only one doing the comparing is my own self.

30. Do you like to readbooks similar to your project while you’re drafting or do you stick to non-fiction/un-similar works?

I do! I find it very helpful esp. when I’m writing in a genre/style I’m not used to. I try to avoid it with fanfiction tho so as to avoid accidentally absorbing other people’s headcanons into my own work.

32. On average how muchdo you write in a day? do you have trouble staying focused/gettingthe word count in?

Tbh I usually count in ‘pages’ (quote/unquote b/c I’m using my own format which is considerably shorter than what you probably think of when you hear ‘page’), and I’m trying to get myself to two pages a day for The Novel but I’m considerably slower when I’m not writing in French b/c language is hard.

34. Unpopular writingthoughts/opinions?

-- Character death is overrated.

-- The idea that conflict is necessary to tell a good story is highly subjective and even if it wasn’t a good conflict shouldn’t just boil down to ‘characters being horrible (or downright abusive) to each other’/‘characters being forced to commit or witness atrocities’ over and over again.

-- Romance is boring and so is smut.

-- Young/aspiring writers need positive feedback way, way more than criticism, constructive or not; constructive criticism overall is overrated (which isn’t to say that it’s never useful but like it’s not The One True Way For A Writer To Improve that a lot of ppl try to sell it as).

36. Post a snippet

She’s always been lucky is the thing.

Lucky to find the Reds when she needed them, lucky to lose them when she no longer did, lucky to get caught by the right people at the right time, lucky to be offered military service instead of prison, lucky that Anderson had seen something in her no-one else ever had.

Lucky to survive doesn’t feel so special.

38. How do you nailvoice in your books?

Honestly that is one thing that comes p much naturally to me? Like whenever I write in a character’s voice I can usually ‘hear’ what I’m writing so to speak, which makes things considerably easier tbh.

40. Do you look up toany of your writer buddies?

What kind of question is that I look up to all of y'all??? I’m not even kidding here y’all are amazing and talented and I’m so thrilled I got to meet all of you?

42. How many drafts doyou usually write before you feel satisfied?

I’d say 2-3 though it’s kinda hard to tell b/c I don’t strictly speaking work in full drafts, I tend to go back and forth between paragraphs instead.

44. Why (and when) didyou decide to become a writer?

I must have been like 16 or something. Hell if I remember why except I love stories and it seemed like a good idea at the time?

46. Past or presenttense?

I actually prefer past tense despite my current inability to write it (idk why all my fic end up being present tense but I suspect English).

50. Do you share yourrough drafts or do you wait until everything is all polished?

I tend to wait until everything is polished but also, again, it’s super easy to get me to share rough drafts or even outlines with you b/c I am weak and crave validation.

Me. Always.

Like listen the fact is actually talking openly & honestly about personal stuff even to people who have been there for me in the past is literally the hardest thing for me to do and I got so damn good at avoiding it I don’t even have to think before I do it anymore, and sometimes it feels like writing is the only way I can actually properly communicate anymore. So yeah I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care about ppl loving what I write but it will always be first and foremost something I do for myself.
