Ghost sighed as he watched you chase Gaz around base. He'd apparently tickled you which you saw as a threat, immediately taking off to get your revenge. Hearing a laugh beside him Ghost turned, seeing an amused Soap who was also watching your silly antics. "Go get 'em sweetheart!" He cheered you on and Ghost groaned. "Don't encourage 'em Johnny," "Why not? This is a funny sight," He smirked, sitting next to Ghost, his head instinctually falling onto the taller mans shoulder. Ghost rolled his eyes as he watched you trip, Gaz stopping to laugh at you. "Oh damn, think he's alright Lt?" Soap asked only to get silence as a response. "Lt?" Ghost had heard him, though he was too busy wondering why he was even with such an airhead anyway. He'd already been dating one headache why did he feel the need to worsen his pain with another.
When he'd first met you he was already with Soap, their relationship being monogamous at the time. Though that was more of a suggestion than set in stone. Maybe it was the fact that the first time he'd met you- you were choking some guy out with the power of your thighs alone that'd intrigued him. Either way you'd easily clicked with Soap after meeting him, and after exchanging war stories and silly jokes with the two men all day they both knew at the end of it that they liked you. Initially, it wasn't going to go anywhere but Soap was the one who suggested adding you to their little relationship. Ghost was hesitant at first, not because he didn't like you but because he wasn't sure if you liked him. You'd obviously liked Soap, romantically or not you both clicked immediately, but for some reason for Ghost it was so hard to read you on your feelings for him. Sure you were polite out of respect but could it ever go deeper than that? He knows sometimes his dark humor can fall flat and his stoic tone doesn't help either. Soap had reassured him that he had a charm that couldn't be beat, but of course he'd say that. You and him clicked so easily, you both told terrible jokes and fucked around when you shouldn't. You both had a mutual love for explosives and beer and karaoke and had this natural bond he could only wish for with you. After talking about it they sort of dropped it for a few weeks but it was clear that Soap had liked you and he could understand why. Especially after what he considers the true turning point for him. It was a pretty normal night on base, everyone asleep in their barracks, everyone except Ghost. He often had nights like these where sleep was the last thing on his mind, memories plaguing his brain as he fought desperately to think of anything else. He would wake up Johnny, tell him about the bad thoughts, but he really needed the sleep after the last mission they'd been on. So he thought to deal with it alone, going into the kitchen to hopefully find a stashed bottle whisky to drown his sorrows for the night. Only upon entering he found you, leaning against the counter, pouring yourself a freshly brewed pot of coffee. You both locked eyes, a mutual understanding flooding you both as you held out the warm pot, asking silently if he'd join you. He, of course, was hesitant but had nothing better to do. So he grabbed a mug from the cabinet and watched as you poured his coffee, black.
You'd both sat in silence for some time before you asked quietly why he was up. He told the truth, nightmares, but didn't go into much detail understandably. You hummed, replying with the same answer when he'd asked you a similar question. Your jokey manner was all but lost in this moment, at least for a second. You'd asked him to talk about his nightmares with you, saying that it'd be better than him just holding everything in all the time. He didn't expect it, but you were so easy to talk to. Just the smallest amount of convincing and he did what you asked. That night you both shared the stories of your nightmares with each other. You comforted him, gave him advice and told him things he definitely needed to hear. Him ranting only got the ball rolling as he found himself sitting on the common room couch with you simply talking about anything and everything, your company in the now silent base was warming. You'd even laughed at his horrid jokes, throwing back a few that he's now added to his growing roster of dark humor. He hadn't felt like this since...well...Johnny. As the sun rose and light cracked through the curtains he couldn't help but feel a little glad that he'd gotten to spend time with you. That night alone showed him he did have a natural connection with you. You understood him in ways he didn't even think you could. He found you also shared his insomnia episodes, his love for dogs and specific guns, his respect of stealth and going at it alone on missions. When he saw Soap later that day he nonchalantly added that he's now considering asking you to join their relationship, and he couldn't help but replicate the smile on Soaps face.
One which he held now.
"Lt?" Soap glanced up at Ghost, noticing the slight crinkle in his eye and the small indent underneath his cloth balaclava. To anyone else he'd look completely normal right now, but Soap knew that those miniscule signs meant that he was smiling. Smiling at you as you groaned on the floor. Closing his eyes, Ghosts shoulders bounced in a silent laugh before he moved to stand, Soap following him with his eyes before realizing where he was going, and moving to go to you too.
Rolling on your back, you huffed, the cold floor on your rear as you stared up at the blinding white flood lights that shone down on you. Only they were blocked by a shadow, then two, the smiling faces of your boyfriends stood over you. "Need a hand sweetheart?" Soaps Scottish accent filled your ears and you couldn't help the small smile that found it's way to your face. Reaching out with both hands you grabbed onto one of each of theirs, laughing as they hoisted you up with ease. You felt Ghost pat your back before his arm wrapped itself around you. Looking at him you noticed the small smile beneath his mask and reciprocated his action, now committing to a full side hug. You just held each other there before Soap joined in, now you held both of your boyfriends in your arms. You rocked back and forth between them, your chase with Gaz momentarily forgotten as you accepted this newer task of being held. Only momentarily though as Gaz came back into view you suddenly remembered what you were doing before this, your glare being set on his form. "Garrick!" You yelled and he ran again, you moved to chase him but the hands of ghost didn't seem to want to let you go. "No you don't, come on, we're leaving." "Awww but Simon come on-" you groaned, "I'm starving." He stated bluntly, practically dragging you away from the scene as Soap laughed at your pouting face, following the two of you to the kitchen. Ghost simply listened as you began ranting about some random show that you and Soap had been watching, allowing you to completely forget about the Gaz thing as you got distracted by your own thoughts again. He watched as you and Soap recounted a particular episode that seemingly got on your nerves as it ended on a cliff hanger, silently smiling once again as he relished in the company of his two idiot boyfriends.

you are the spouse and husband to xie lian and hua cheng, having been with them since xie lian was still crown prince of xie le.
You were a chaotic being that has been alive for a long time and so you know all sorts of things especially cause of your powers. You weren’t originally from this universe/time as after you were defeated from being tricked by sixer’s twin brother.
(You didn’t mention if the reader was apart of their world or not and since you mentioned gravity falls I assumed that means the reader stays a dream demon and so I came up with the idea of having the two fandoms be kinda separate as you can see so hope that’s alright!.)
You like to make deals with people who were gullible to fall for them especially to entertain you while you search for xie lian after losing him at some point, you also used those deals to try and find him but ended up with nothing as xie lian’s luck helped in not letting you find him surprisingly.
Finally you had found him after 800 years of searching and gaining information, you also noticed what seems to be a familiar person and after reading his mind you found out he was the little kid you always saw around xie lian back in the day.
After a few adventures you three married and began a poly-relationship, that still didn’t stop you from making deals with unsuspecting humans, gods, and ghosts though you did have to dial it back as xie lian wants to make sure you don’t get in trouble and such. You told them about the gravity falls and weirdmagadon that happened which had xie lian scold you especially after learning that you gave a child a screaming head as a joke.
When you three decide to go further in the relationship you’re usually the one being a brat that needs to be tamed. You’d think you’d be tamed more by hua cheng but no it was xie lian who was the one that tame you anytime you three decided to have a little fun.
Though you three sometime team up with one another on different occasions and tease and love the one that was being the bottom that time, though you all give each other equal amounts of attention whether that be teasing or love it doesn’t matter as you all get the same treatment.
(A/n: yea the smut part was kinda small, sorry about that 😅 I just didn’t know what to put for it since it’s my first time doing this, also I won’t fully be doing smut like I would if it was a normal request I’ll only be doing things I’m comfortable with as there’s some things I think I might be uncomfortable or just flat out didn’t know about it until now so don’t go sending smut requests as I’m still testing it out on if I want to do it or not, also I’ll be busy for this week what with going somewhere for the first time and so I probably won’t be able to get to do requests a whole lot until I return this coming weekend on the 11th so you can still send requests just expect them to be not worked on for a bit! The ghost of the theater~
Yandere oc x Gn Reader
Warnings: watching the reader, slight obsession, mention of death, general Yandere behavior.
You find yourself in an office room of a theater, your office and your theater, your uncle recently died and in his will he made you the new owner of his precious theater.
At first you didn't want to accept such a responsibility, but remembering the few times you visited him you realized how much he loved that place.
And with that you agreed to take care of and manage the famous theater of your dear and only uncle and make this place even more famous, it's a shame that not everything is a bed of roses and soon problems began to arise.
And the problem was that thanks to his uncle's death, the theater's audience fell, as if only his presence made that place work, and without him it's as if everything had lost its life. And you didn't know what to do to reverse it.
And now what do we do? .You ask the manager, one of the men your uncle trusted most and who you knew was willing to do whatever it took to keep this place afloat.
Well, I was thinking of something that might bring the audience back, I just don't know if you'll agree . He speaks a little anxiously.
Right now I'm accepting anything.
I was thinking about doing a presentation on the story 'The Duke's Madness'.
And why do you think I wouldn't accept that?. You ask genuinely confused.
Don't you know the story and what happens when some theater tries to recreate it?.
No, I don't know. At your response he sighs and adjusts his glasses before looking at you again and speaking.
The story tells about a duke who, after going through humiliation and being rejected by his childhood friend and love of his life, makes a deal with a demon and with that he gains powers and with With these powers he attracts women to his forest mansion and these women become his wives forever.
Wow... this story is very interesting, but I suppose there's more, right?.
Of course there is more, but I'm not going to tell you, you'll have to look for the ending on your own, but the most important thing here is that there is a legend about this story, which says that all the theaters that tried to recreate it disasters happened.
Disasters?.
Yes, some have tried but bad things have always happened to them, like actors getting hurt in rehearsals, some employees getting sick and even deaths.
... serious?...
Well, that's what they say, but I don't particularly believe that, just as I don't believe the rumors that there's a ghost here.

Yes, have you never heard? Kind of strange since you've already been here for three days. He speaks and adjusts his glasses back on his face.
No, I didn't know any of that. You said trying to absorb all the information suddenly given to you.

...ok then, you can start preparing everything for the play because that's the story we're going to show at the reopening!. You don't know where it came from but you feel a sudden enthusiasm and hope that everyone else has the same enthusiasm to make the presentation.
Right now. He says this to you and leaves to start his work.
Ghosts are... they don't exist You tell yourself and start doing your own work.
Time passes and once again you are the last person to leave the theater, as a boss your job ends up being the longest, and yet another night you are walking to the main door to go back to your home.
But unlike other nights, this time you felt cold, a slight current of cold air passed you from behind, which is strange since everything was closed so there was no way wind passed through there, and even stranger and scarier was the sound of a person singing a beautiful melody on the speakers You hadn't left them on, there was no reason for anyone to leave them on, and who was singing?
Gathering your courage you decided to go after the voice, which was definitely in the stage area, it was probably an actor singing, he or she must be training, that's definitely it, it has to be That's what you thought going to the place of the melody.
But when we got there, another surprise was that there was no one on stage and the music had stopped, you sighed with relief, it must have been all in your tired head and almost turning around to leave. You see a person on one of the benches in the middle of the stage, and your fear returned a little but, overcome by curiosity, you went there to see who it was and ask them to leave the place since it was closed.
Look, I'm sorry but the theater is closed so I ask you to leave. You speak approaching the person.
I know it's closed, but I can't leave. You got close and saw that the person was extremely white and their clothes were very beautiful, almost as if they were from some ancient story.
As? You can not exit?
I can't, I'm stuck here.

How rude of me She finally leaves the place she was sitting in front of me and leans down to make a gesture of introduction, one of those very old ones that you only see in movies about castles and such. I'm Levi, but you can call me the ghost of the theater.

You remain silent, not knowing what to do or say, and then he sees that you are in trouble and decides to take your hand, or I mean, he tried to take you but you only felt a slight tingling and a cold feeling.
It saw? I'm not a living being like you, but I was before and used to be on that stage.
You... were an actor?
Yes, I loved this place, and I precisely died here, ironic, right?. And again he laughs, but I feel a little melancholy coming from him.
So that's why you're here?
Yes, I can't leave and I don't want to leave, and I must confess I'm surprised that you're still here talking to me instead of running away.
My uncle always said that we should be afraid of the living and not the dead, and you don't scare me.
Your uncle was an amazing guy, it's a shame he already had to go, I will miss him.
I will miss him too. You say thoughtfully, remembering the moments you spent with your uncle.
Well at least you're here and I know you'll take good care of my house. He says and reads with a smile.
How are you sure I'll take good care of it here?.
'Cause I feel it, and I trust a pretty face.
You blush a little at his speech and look away from his smile.

He didn't say anything and just disappeared from view, as if he had never been here.

Listen I love DCxDP crossovers as much as the next person, but every time I see people write John Constantine offer as a solution summoning something I cringe internally a little bit. John is all up for self-sacrificing and doing things you shouldn't but he does not fuck with other creatures he knows shit-all about.
On the other end, do you know who does fuck with creatures they know shit all about?? And keep summoning things and making deals with things they shouldn't be summoning or making deals with? And also doing this most of the times with the express intentions of dealing with the dead?
The Winchester Brothers.
Where are my season 15 fix-it fics where Dean does not give up, he does not say "oh well Castiel died after confessing his love for me I guess that's it" or where Sam does not say "well my brother died during a run of the mill vampire Hunt -not even because of the vampires but because of a rusty nail. Let me just abandon him forever after everything we've gone through and finally actually listen to him and get myself a family with my blurry wife and random son"
And instead they do again summon something that is completely separate from everything else they've dealt with before and they actually managed to contact Danny who somehow is the king of the Ghost Zone or whatever fucking shit you want. Maybe you can make the empty nocturne! That would be really fucking cool :O so Danny somehow gets convinced to bring back Castiel or Dean or both.
Ok now I'm actually thinking about it.
You can even make it adult Danny by simply following the Supernatural timeline. Danny gets his powers in 2004, when he's 14, the Winchesters start looking for their dad in 2005, and they're... 20 something. Castiel joins the brigade in 2009 (I thought he showed up in season 5 lmao it's been a while since I've watched it), Chuck starts writing the books- fuck I don't know. 2012? Was it season 7? **Looks it up** fuck nope he starts writing when they start, that's my mistake. I meant when does he show up. And that's together with Castiel. Wow. Give me Danny who is an in universe Supernatural fan. He's the prime target audience! Starts reading after he gets his powers because we'll they're ghost hunters but the ghosts are actually evil. So it's fine. And they're fictional anyway so no big deal.
But then Chuck stops writing (end of season 5) and Danny is extremely disappointed.
He doesn't learn the truth until 2018 (season 13) when Jack wakes up The Shadow and consequently shakes the Infinite Realms. Nocturne has to be somehow connected. Maybe they're not The Shadow themself, but a subordinate? Like Frostbite is the leader while the yetis are his citizens. And The Empty is the realm they live in.
Now Danny is slightly terrified because it means all the things that go bump in the night are real. Which is a scary as fuck thought. And also wonders why they've never had hunters in Amity, or why he and the other ghosts are different from the ones in the books.
But he can't really do anything. To help.
Hunters definitely have checked out the town. There's no way they'd fly under the radar. But either there are already hunters INSIDE Amity And they've staked their claim on the town, no outside hunters allowed. Or there's something wrong w the entire place that makes it so that people don't really realize anything is wrong with it. I til they're inside it. But when outside nothing :/ all normal.
I feel like it wouldn't be Dean who summons him though. As much as I love him, they are aware that pretty much only God could pull out Cas and Jack wasn't going to do it any time soon.
But Dean dying like that? No Sam is not going to let his story end like that. But they've pretty much exhausted all options. What's he gonna do? Make another deal w a demon that's going to ultimately make more of a mess? Who's gonna make a deal w a Winchester anyway?
I don't know how Sam would find a way to contact Danny. The Fentons were the first to make contact with the Zone, so the bunker's unlikely to have any resources. Bobby's gone, so that's a bust. He'd have to find something new. Something no other hunter has interacted with, ever.
Again.
Because let's be real. The Winchesters already did that plenty.
Maybe he stumbles upon Amity by accident and sees it as an opportunity, idk.
Sam's kinda more willing to give monsters the benefit of the doubt. They know angels are not all bad, they had werewolf friends, and so on and so forth.
So sure he might start off listening to the Fentons at first, but if he were to interact with Danny (as Phantom ofc) one on one he'd probably see that they're wrong.
Danny would freak out of course. On one hand, fuck man. He's a fan. That's so cool.
On the other, he knows nothing will stop the Winchesters. He's deader than dead if Sam was there to hunt him.
But alas, he'd do anything to help him get his brother (and Cas, as a treat) back. Who's gonna stop him? God? Jack? Idk man I feel like he'd let them have this one lmao. Or still Danny could definitely argue that he's the king of all afterlives, so what he does to his subjects is none of his business (since God (or at least Chuck couldn't) can't interfere w The Empty, only the afterlives he controls. So heaven and hell. Not even purgatory iirc)

Hey guys! I wanted to take a moment to post on here about the Themes of my blog. This is taken directly from my rules, and it's all the kinds of lovely little themes - happy and dark - that you can find here on my blog. There is a lot of dark and triggering material, but my blog is also a comedy blog specifically to balance that out. I love horror and comedy together.
Anyway, please have a read, and let me know if have any questions or if anything is unclear. Thank you! :)
⭐ Themes
Being centered around horror, my blog features a lot of dark and sometimes heavy themes, such as death, violence, murder, blood, gore, illness (including terminal illness), and occasional mentions of self-harm and suicide (as is portrayed in the typical The Stanley Parable manner, i.e. muses not taking their own lives and physical health seriously because they can respawn in video game fashion, so they may do things like jump off a building, volunteer to be experimented on, joke around about death, show little fear of being hurt or killed, or just generally show little regard for their own safety).
Themes of mental health are also present on this blog. Many of my muses have mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, although it is not heavily or openly discussed in threads. These issues are present through their behaviors, actions, and reactions to other muses and the world around them. They are very much human in that way, so if this sort of characterization bothers you, please be aware of this. I will not trauma dump on your muses, however be aware that they each have their backstories, and they will react to the things your muses say and do and that their reactions are their own - not mine.
My blog is also, obviously, heavily themed on the paranormal and supernatural, so there will be a lot of things about ghosts, spirits, ghouls, monsters, extraterrestrials, cryptids, icky and gross things, freaky and scary things, and just anything in that genre. If it’s anything spooky and my eyes come across it, it’s probably going to come up at some point on my blog. This includes religious things like demons and exorcisms and possessions and themes of that nature (these are not as common, but I’m mentioning them here because I know some are more sensitive to these themes and I want people to be aware that they may be present).
Dark themes aren’t the sole themes on my blog, though! It’s also a comedy blog! And that’s a good deal of what you’ll see here. The silly juxtaposed with the dark. Horror and comedy placed side-by-side is one of my favorite things ever, and I love playing with it here. I love getting a laugh out of dark and troubling themes, out of things that would normally be too frightening to look at. It minimizes the things that are too hard to handle on their own. Life, and death, doesn’t have to be so ugly and scary. We can laugh at these things too, and then they aren’t so scary. Besides, I’m here to have fun too, and that’s what I want my blog to be about as well.
It’s also about friendship and love and never giving up. Found family is another heavy theme on my blog, as is love always winning at the end of the day. It’s about the power of choice and breaking out of your narrative, and sometimes breaking THE narrative. No one is ever bound to the path set before them - you always have a choice, even though the choice might not be clear or obvious. Sometimes you have to carve out the path yourself, brutally, even violently, but as the great mathematician Ian Malcolm once said, “Life, uh, finds a way.”
Untangling life and navigating our way through it all, while having a laugh at the horrors, that’s what it’s all about, baby!

I've been reading LITG fanfiction for over 3 years now (!!), so I've read quite a few fics! I thought it was about time I updated my recommendations. You can find the original recs here! There are some duplicates but for the most part I decided to be a bit more biased with these.
Since I have a lot of recs and didn't want to narrow things down too much, I'm splitting them into two posts - this one for chaptered fics, and another for oneshots!
Note: In putting together this list, I included my personal faves and a bunch of fics that I just have good memories of. I'm in no way saying these are the best of the best (which is up to personal opinion anyway), as I've left off a lot of great/popular fics. Plus while I've read a lot, I haven't read everything, especially over the last year or so. So totally in denial about the deaths in the movie (Giles, dion, especially zakk) could the gang take on demons a second time? Or other ghosts/monsters and pull off another successful save the world/end the chaos type of deal?
Could their respective gf/significant others survive as well? Imagine zakk and his gf destroying monsters, saving each other from the supernatural or Medina and brodie meeting someone who saves the two of them 😳
YES! i think that all of the dead people especially Zakk would be more powerful! i think dion and giles wouldn’t rlly know how to use their new magical powers or whatever but i think Zakk would learn fast and like totally own it!!! tbh instead of Zakk killing the main villain i think it would be funny if Dion or Giles did it and Zakk would be super pissed he couldn’t do it himself as much as i believe it would be that kind of jar thing where ppl are like “open this jar for me” and the other person does it easily and then the first person is like “wtf i just loosened it there’s no way you opened it by yourself!!” yk like that but with Zakk being the open this jar and Dion/Giles being the one to open it except i think that Zakk wouldn’t ask to get the jar opened or the big demon dude killed it just kinda happens because wtf else would happen?? anyway I think that Zakk’s gf/so would be kinda like Medina when she was kicking demon zombie type shit ass but like extra badass cause idk they’re with Zakk?? i just feel like anyone who can handle Zakk would be extra strong in multiple ways. Medina and Brodie being saved by someone else tbh i can see it lol. i think Brodie would sorta be a little wimpy when it comes to this big bad mega demon/entity of some sort. and i think Medina would be eager to kill it but going by this situation, they would not win but they would not die because i refuse to have them die <3!! idk who that person to save them would be but i’d bet they’d be like Zakk tbh!!

24. How did they fall for eachother? (Quad of Cope >:))
so i cannot answer for the rest of the quad but like - good god this got long sorry -
Louhi enters the War of the Magi plot after losing Tursas, the Nymian Marine she was partnered with in most senses of the word, to the rising waters of the incoming flood. Rather than return to Nym, she makes it to the mainland - and to Mhach! where she runs into Balor, a black mage who is the embodiment of every piece of anti-Mhach propaganda she's heard in Nym (and actually full of demons) but like, he's in Trouble and healer instincts override wartime politics and she patches him up and they decide to travel together - away from Mhach, and toward Amdapor - where it is rumored that the White Mages may have a cure for the mysterious illness sweeping through Nym.
Balor has only really dealt with members of the cult he was raised in and he's has only ever really been friendly with voidsent, so there's a whole thing about the two of them learning how to act around each other - and the one thing that both of them understand is a vow (though levels of reciprocity remain nebulous). Balor promises to protect Louhi and Louhi promises to protect Balor. It's not something she really thinks he's going to commit to until he actually rips someone (heh) to shreds when they threaten her.
This like. rearranges her brain I think. I don't think she ever thought anyone would do something that violent for her again, in like, the way that Tursas had vowed to protect her as part of the holy bond of SCH/WAR, and she's still Very Much lost in her grief over that, and maaaaaybe starts conflating Balor and Tursas in her mind - which, I think, he recognizes and leans into because he thinks it will help her? A couple of Romance Tropes Later (like! idk! untangling underbrush from his horns? Maybe they cuddle for warmth in a cave!! maybe he ends up needing to take his shirt off so she can attend to a cut in his side and ends up blushing through the treatment when she's never done that previously idk!!) and they do end up being intimate, but Louhi is starting to recognize with growing horror that she's like. Ignoring her duty to Nym AND sort of washing her relationship with Balor with her feelings about Tursas, which isn't fair to Balor or Tursas' memory in her mind.
GOD BUT LISTEN the thing is that so much of that thinking is her just deliberately trying to distance herself from like, the Actual Feelings she's developing while traveling - not for the vow to protect each other or the ghosts of Tursas she sees in him, but for like. Balor. Being Balor. A joy.
ANYWAY - at some point, Balor shows back up to their camp with ANOTHER injured man in tow: Leanashe. Leanashe has some malady (he's a vampire, Leanashe is a void-aspected vampire) and Balor begs Louhi to treat him - of course she agrees and Leanashe reluctantly begins traveling with them as well (he knows of an Amdapori cult leader who may be able to help Louhi cure the Green Death). Both Louhi and Balor agree that the best thing for Leanashe is for them to volunteer their blood (Because These Are Our Barbies and We Say So) so that he doesn't have to attack any Unwilling Victims.
So like, between Balor and Leanashe and Louhi things are getting very bloody lmao. They are doing their utmost to Ignore Their Problems and the Upcoming Apocalypse and the fact that both Balor and Leanashe are living on borrowed time (ueueueue) - Leanashe is cynical and Balor is earnest and Louhi is indulgent - at least, that's. how they're dealing with their individual issues. How they are, uh, Coping.
Ah, but I am getting away from the question of how did Louhi fall for Leanashe - it takes a great deal more time and effort, I think. They're sleeping with each other long before feelings get involved. I think with Leanashe it's more that as time passes and the circumstances get more desperate, they realize (through the power of friendship!!!) that their methods of coping and ignoring the truth isn't helping anyone - least of all each other. There's a certain type of love that comes with being vulnerable with someone. They are both processing loss and being kind and honest to each other in ways that they couldn't have been without the uh. upcoming doom. Also, most importantly. They are having the worst fun.
And ANATU. Beloved Anatu. Anatu joins their party before they reach the Amdapori cult, and she's just. So passionate and full of life, trying to prove herself and her theories and like, I don't know how anyone wouldn't instantly fall in love with a field scientist explaining that she's trying to stabilize the aether in the forest while the world is falling apart. Louhi absolutely does - they collaborate on the aether healing, she eases Anatu into the quad, she would keep her safe through the apocalypse and whatever else comes their way. It is Kismet.

Egotober 2023 Day 12: Things Unsaid
Summary: Séan and Marvin have a lot of talking to do, but still manage to leave things unsaid.

This park was rather special to Marvin and Séan. From a time before they were superheroes, or even teens. They were kids, just running around the Althone woods and every once in a while they returned to it.
Today was one of those days.
The two of them had coffee cups and a takeout bag with sandwiches in between them. Both of them were in costume and had to deal with the occasional people wanting to talk to Jackieboy Man and Marvin.
But as their visits were regular, most of the locals let them be.
Jack sipped on his coffee, “You sure you’re up to the move.”
Marvin shrugged, “Not looking forward to taking new pictures for his passports. All my old pictures have me without the scars. And it’s about to run out anyways.”
“I know the lads will miss you,” Séan said.
“Yeah, sure,” Marvin said as he sipped on his coffee and grabbed his sandwich out of the bag.
“I mean, who will Daithi and Rumble ghost hunt with?” Séan tried to joke.
“I mean, Chase could use a good scare, and you guys will be fine, it’s the dipshits in Egoton that need help. I just teach one of them how to read aura and then I’m back.”
“Hope you have fun, hear Egoton can get a bit crazy, especially when Wilford gets involved,” Séan smiled.
“I’ll be fine,” Marvin smiled, lifting his mask up a bit to eat.
“Yeah,” Séan said. “If anyone on this team can take care of themselves, it’s you. Even if you love trouble.”
“Trouble loves me,” Marvin said around his food.
Séan nodded, “Yeah, but you got this, I know you.”
“Yeah,” Marvin said.
They sat and ate before meeting up with the rest of the Septics, Jackieboy Man was in high spirits but Marvin was less so.
He was good at pretending, masks and brightly colored outfits helped hide.
Marvin couldn’t help but feel awful and resentful about the whole mess. He and Jackie had gotten into a huge argument over that damn stone that Marvin had just been trying to research. He needed every opportunity to improve his magic.
Marvin wasn’t like Jackie or J.J who seemed to get their powers and be good at them all at once. When Marvin’s magic started he was little, maybe five, and he had sucked at it for a long time. Couldn’t even do lame faux magic card tricks. Everything Marvin had he had to struggle and work for it.
Any source of real magic was another opportunity and so what if he got a little excited? And so what if he got a bit careless when he was excited?
He needed to get better, he needed it badly. And the one thing Egoton had was a surly demon and his magical, absolutely mad boyfriend. Lots of time to study and learn and get better. Then Marvin could come back ten times more powerful and he could solve any magical problem they had.
All Marvin needed to do was prove he could handle it. And he could, Marvin knew he could. He would handle it, not only would he be able to get better he would make Dark remember his time in the States.
While Marvin was out walking through the streets and the parks he was making a mental note of magical research he would do. He would get his hands on anything that the Egoton Branch had on magic and teach the hell out of whoever was most capable to do it.
Marvin would do the best job ever, or he would die trying.

Fyodor sounds super cool! Could you tell me more about them?
oh boy. You’ve opened pandora’s box
Fyodor started as a Warden Amell, they were my shithead playthrough where I picked all the funny fucked up dialogue and did the fucked up choices (not the mage genocide but like, fucking the desire demon instead of saving Connor, poisoned ashes, etc) except I started making funny hcs about them and then accidentally got really attached to them and started making actually serious hcs about them until they stopped being a sillyfunny character for my bastard playthru and started being an actual oc
In their current iteration that’s developed through rp, Fyodor is the younger sibling of the Amell origin. They’re a half elven bastard who’s also related to the Lavellan origin on their dad’s side, and so when their mother disappeared and the rest of their siblings were taken to Circles, their stepfather kind of didn’t wanna deal with them, so he shipped them off to a friend in Tevinter. Lucky for them, they wound up being a magic prodigy and fairly quickly managed admission into the Minrathous Circle, but being raised in that cutthroat ass environment immensely fucked them up and made them really, really crave the fantasy of control and power over it. Eventually they caught the eye of a Magister who had produced no suitable heir and he began grooming them to be the perfect mage, getting them involved in his schemes and pretty quickly crushing whatever altruism and optimism they had left. But he did his job too well, because he was just a stepping stone to them, and Fyodor began slowly poisoning him, which presented as him falling ill - expected in his old age. Naturally, he named his prodigal student to be his heir, and Fyodor earned a seat in the Magisterium upon his death.
Anyways, come DA2, they find themself in Kirkwall to deal with the Tome of Koslun plot, and they quickly find that hey, they still have family in the city! One thing leads to another, and they end up getting pretty much adopted in the Hawkes. See, while they’re a domineering cunt in Tevinter, they know that doesn’t serve them in Kirkwall, so they let the mask down and present more as a silly zany cousin to the Hawkes. It’s actually kind of really good for them, gives them a break from the false niceties and backstabbing of Tevinter politics and lets them act like an actual person and be a little goofy and earnest from time to time. That, and they developed a big emptiness in Tevinter what with the huge importance placed on bloodline and familial ties, what with them not knowing their biodad’s side of the family at all, Revka being who knows where, and their siblings all being in Circles to their knowledge. So the Hawkes being blood relatives kind of fulfills that need, but the whole Kirkwall gang becomes a weird found family to them. That is to say, while they’re in Tevinter doing Magister business in between Acts most of the time, they wind up in Kirkwall as a companion for the main story beats to hang out.
Obviously, not a good person at all, and their friendly down to earth Kirkwall persona is just another mask. There isn’t really a real Fyodor, they have NPD like hell and don’t feel like they exist outside the perceptions of others, so every interaction is them bending to what they think their company wants them to be. Enter Fenris rivalmance because he’s the only one that really sees right through them, which is another thing that happened through rp pretty organically and kinda unexpectedly. I can talk about them in another post but TLDR: enemies to hatefucking to ghosting to husbands. They’re emotionally messy as fuck until Act 3 but not in a totally unhealthy way, just that they’re both unwell mfs who don’t deal with their issues like they’ve had 280 hours of DBT. It helps that, unlike the canon rivalmance, Fyodor doesn’t invalidate how Fenris feels ever, they actually really agree with a lot of his views on Tevinter and will openly tell Anders to fuck off and stop bothering him, which throws Fenris a lot but Fyo is really only in it for their own power and doesn’t actually like Tevinter, it’s just the only country where being a blood magic prodigy is grounds for rulership. Fyodor is a smug annoying little bastard, but they’re pretty respectful to him, his beef with them is more a moral revulsion to them. It takes time for Fenris to actually grow to trust Fyodor actually cares about him, but luckily, DA2’s time frame leaves room for that to happen. The hatefucking is because it’s a more mutually beneficial way to settle arguments, without any feelings attached until act 2-3 intermission except there very much are and both of them are in denial about it. Eventually they wind up together by act 3 :]
In DAI, Fyodor hears about the Venatori because they’re targeted for recruitment - they’re one of the most knowledgeable demonologists in Tevinter, and the Venatori need that. Except they know it’s bullshit, they think it’s horrific, so they join mostly out of morbid curiosity and for political partnerships with other Magisters in it while tipping off the Archon to their identities so he can hunt them for sport a la Magekiller. So when the Inquisition is founded, Fyo and Fen run off to join, Fyo as a quote unquote Venatori spy (except they straight up go to the Inquisition and up front say the Venatori want them to spy and arrange to be a double agent for Leliana instead) Basically in DAI they’re a very shady morally grey antihero playing both sides of the war but ultimately they want the Venatori out of Tevinter and they want to make the country better. They’re like a more self serving cunty morally loose Dorian basically. (They also happen to be catty exes with Dorian, fun story) Post game they end up being a founding member of the Lucerni!
Besides all that, some other fun details: They’re profoundly Deaf & autistic !! They communicate through sign language and they have a peppy apprentice named Minerva who travels with them to interpret for them and get in on their crazy magic bullshit. They have a lifelong special interest in entomology and publish research on local insects as a side hobby, all their outfits have some element of insectoid motif and they have big big hyperempathy for bugs because they were neglected by their adoptive father in Tevinter and it led to them having a really big love for “pests” and bugs most people overlook. They have a big love for roaches and they have pet hissers among other bugs :) They care for their pets more than anything and are very defensive of bugs in general. On more than one occasion they have genuinely deadass used blood magic to control the rest of the DA2 party to stop them from killing a bug. By the end of act 1 it’s a known fact that if you try to smash or step on a bug in their presence you Will get blood magic’ed into leaving it be while they take it outside. Also, loosely alluded to it in my tags for that other post, but they have a complex array of runes and sigils carved into their skin providing the effects of antimagic enchantments, mostly preventing blood magic use against them. It has the side effect of thinning the veil around them and making them kinda unnerving to be around to anyone sensitive to shifts in the veil.
TLDR: Silly goofy bitch Da2 fan companion who blood magicked and girlbossed their way into the Magisterium and winds up worming their way into the Hawkes’ hearts

hi hello ghost thank you for enabling me anyway i’m gonna talk you about my favorite guy ever Ray!!!
so general information that’s important: he’s between the ages of 19-23, i do not like giving my characters actual ages bc that’s way too much work anyway, he works in The Council, which is a government facility specifically made for killing demons/soul eaters, hes pretty far up in the council (they work in ranks and stuff), he is in a qpr with another of my characters called soren and they live together, also ray is very close to his family
Ray is such a fucked up guy and i love him for it, he’s sooo naive and childish and stupid and before the story even starts manages to fuck up so bad he gets his demon killing license revoked (that’s not something that happens often at all) but he tries his best!!!! the specific reason why he got his license revoked is not very fun (lots of death) so idk if i should get into it but i hope you don’t mind if i don’t specify
His story actually revolves around the disappearance of a ton of people which the higher ups are trying so hard to cover up, as they slowly uncover more and more information the government tries it hardest for them to stop and i soemthing i really want to do if i ever write this is at the start portray the council as something beautiful that’s out there to help other and slowly become this jail ray cant escape, it’s also really bad for him bc not even soren trusts him when he tells him something bad was happening :D!! i have so many notes on the structure of the council and how it works but i think i would take soooo long actually explaining everything, i actually call his story the main story of the demon world bc i have multiple stories within the same world and this one is were you learn the most about how everything works and it makes me so happy, feel free to ask me about anything :O!!

What I Watched In May
I have been gone for a long, long long, time. It's mostly because of my job, but also because of my lack of motivation in writing. I have a lot of ideas, but not really much time to write them. I
I watched a lot of things since February, things that I want to have their own individual posts, and others I forgot. Most of them are rewatches. I got HBO and was just playing Friends as white noise maybe 5-6 times (all. ten. damn seasons.). I'm not going to beat myself much about it or it'll feel like a chore, so I'm going slow. I want to upload my ideas soon though.
Anyway, here's what I watched for the month of May.
Lovecraft Country (2020)
After the disappearance of his father, Atticus "Tic" Freeman, his paternal uncle George, and childhood friend Letita "Leti" Lewis travel across segregated United States in the 1950's in search for answers. This trip kickstarts Tic into a world seemingly unreal as they fight against supernatural forces of evil and ones at their very door.
After the recent allegations against Jonathan Mayers, I was hesitant to watch this show. I knew him from that Antman movie, nothing much else. I thought he was a promising actor; decent. It’s disappointing he turned out to be an alleged awful human being. After watching Lovecraft Country, it’s an even bigger tragedy. This show is a whirlwind. Spoilers ahead.
I adore horror in show formatting. I believe it allows a plot to be properly fleshed out. But! That also means more of a dedication. That has to be the only excuse I have for not getting around to this masterpiece sooner. At only ten (10) episodes, Lovecraft Country is worth the binge.
I can easily watch certain movies and shows that others would find too hard to handle. One part I struggle with is suspense. I swear I feel it in the air and my lungs pump thick with it. But I get through it in one piece. Depending on how hard it hit me, I might not rewatch it again. After finishing LC, I think the ease at which I can watch certain movies/shows is accredited to it feeling outside of the realm of my own reality, or at least shit I wouldn't be caught dead doing.
I found it very uncomfortable to watch.
I almost didn't want to finish it.
On top of dealing with sharp teeth blob creatures, our characters have to take on the worst horror of all: racism in the 50's. Evil, pink skinned, sweaty and entitled white people make it their mission to harass and brutalize black bodies for simply existing. Worse, some wielded powers.
Horror movies are notoriously white. Even some of my favorites are all white casts with maybe an Asian or black character that gets killed off. They're usually slashers, demonic possessions, or ghosts walking in and out of frames. I'm used to that. Any underlying issues the characters battle are usually standard. In Evil Dead (2013), the main character dealt with addiction and those around her struggled keeping her focused this go-around at sobriety. In The Witch, Thomason had to assimilate to new life after being casted out by her previous community. In I See You (2019), the couple treads the aftermath of an affair - so on and so forth. The A plot is usually horrifying (messing with a spell that releases a demon, witches bordering on the edge of the forrest, or a bunch of new kids disappearing years after a case is seemingly closed) while the B plot is more grounded. I get that. But when I tell you, monsters and prophecies about magic is the least of Leti (Jurnee Smollet) and Atticus's (Jonathan Mayers) worries, I mean it. I'd prefer it. The worst scene was the very first episode where they're stuck in a sundown town with seven minutes til and have to drive 25 miles the speed limit with only seconds to spare or a shitty cop would murder them. I paused that scene countless times. The riots were another. The diner scene got me good.
Racism is just ugly. As more and more documentation reaches the mass through social media, what really happened during slavery and Jim Crow is more horrifying than the popular teachings of history in schools or dramatization in Hollywood tells. I despise this type of plot and try to avoid it. I don’t watch slave movies. The ones that I have were torture. I liked Django, but mainly because it barely had Jamie Fox suffering and actually showed him being a bad ass. I found out they wanted to do a movie on Emmett Till after the success of Central Park Five’s retelling, which was so alarming. It’s now money driven, these stories. It seems that's the only black stories Hollywood thinks is profitable. Them TV series (2021), Karen (2021), etc, are recent movies that popped up after the success of Jordan Peele debut movie. Get Out (2017) did it well. Its sons? Not so much.
That’s why I liked Little Monsters (2018), Us (2019), or my childhood favorite Haunted Mansion (2001), because they are horror movies with black lead that isn't full on KKK torture porn. Once Jordan Peele did his thing with Get Out, these studios are slowly falling into a box. Even Peele's future works like Nope and Us were speculated on being political pieces. It's only when they were first release did people realize he can create black horror without the traumas of racism. Even in the new Little Mermaid movie with Halle Bailey, there's a discourse about Ariel needing to be a slave to be historically accurate. A mermaid that got her legs from the witchcraft of a squid needs to be historically accurate. Her dad's cape is made of fish! I don't think anything is accurate in any dimension.
(Huffs) Anyway, Lovecraft.
I'd still recommend in a heart beat. So amazing. I cannot give it enough praise. The music choice was a little random and ill-fitting, some of the spoken words were excessive and didn't hit with the scenes they overlaid, and (love Jurnee but) Leti, another of many light skin love interest, was an annoying casting. Ji-Ah's storyline ending was okayish - I expected a little more since it was one of the best plots of the many packed into this show. But other than that, A in my books. I'll have to rewatch it again with my boyfriend, so I hope those painful scenes go down better the second time around. That scene with the two girls following Diana around was horrifuckingfying. It reminded me of Peele's 2022 Nope with the kids in the barnyard. Their eyes, especially in the alley when Dee waited to follow the cops, was chef's kiss. One thing I will also add is Montrose's sexuality not going down the path I thought it would. We're so used to some public, traumatizing rejection of a closeted man's sexuality to his partner and we didn't get that. It didn't end satisfactory for me since we don't know what's next for him and his partner, so it felt a little throw-away. I truly find it ironic that our characters faced racism, hated being treated as below human, yet discriminated against those within the black community that were gay, etc. It wasn't talked about much between "Tic" and Montrose enough for me and kind of seemed glossed over in order to incorporate other storylines.That's a thing with ten episode shows as opposed to 24, but not a big deal.

2. I See You (2019)
After the abduction of a 10 year old boy, a detective and his family experience strange occurrences in their home that may or may not be related.
Weird things begin to happen in the family's home that is later explained. I kind of assumed who the abductor/killer was simply based on the small amount of characters we're introduced to, so process of elimination was short. There are three big plot twists in this movie: who the boy-abductor is of course, who killed a certain mister, and why mysterious things seem to happen under Detective Greg's Harper's roof. All were equally as shocking as the last. Some things were weird, like the green pocket knives and why those specifically. Also, why the killer would just...have a bag of them in his car where those closest to him had access to? I liked the way all the stories came together and how they perfectly made sense and answered certain behaviors characters had. For example, Alec's obsession with taunting the family and going against the rules of "phrogging." I thought he was just a jealous, sadistic street rat that hated the life the Harper's son had since the boy seemed to be the main focus. When it all came together, by then it made sense what he was doing, but still an amazing shock. Random but the story telling reminds me of A Place Beyond The Pines (2012). The interludes (that seem unrelated) between stories is a storytelling I'm now realizing I really love.

3. The Night House (2023)
The Night House is everything Smile (2023) thought it was. If you've read my previous review on Smile, you know I do not like that movie. If it had been released in the early 00's, I would've felt a little differently, but considering it's an overplayed formula that I already loved, grew accustomed to, and now only nostalgia could draw me to it, Smile just wasn't it for me. The Night House, however, is!
Beth (played by Rebecca Hall) is dealing with the death of her late-husband who recently committed suicide, leaving her alone in her lakeside home. We witness as she reels from the tragedy in ways that leave her friends uncomfortable, concerned, and out of their element on how to console. Certain things begin to happen around the home that makes her believe there is more to her husband's death. She feels there is a presence that could be her husband haunting her and her dreams seem to blur the lines between reality and something dark that parallels. As she does more research, we’re lead to believe that her husband might’ve cheated on her when she finds multiple pictures in his electronics of women who look weirdly similar to her. When I watched the trailer, I assumed there was this mirrored house across the lake in another dimension. A second her, a second husband. Maybe hers really died but that mirrored husband lives on. In the same house. With a double her. It’s what hooked me to it.
She just has such good people around her. Claire (played by Sarah Goldberg), her neighbor Mel, and even her husband all have this woman's best interest in mind and it's really refreshing to see that those around her did what they could to help her. And you might say, her cheating husband had good intensions? Listen, listen!
You see, years ago, Beth had died for four minutes in a car accident. While others claim to see many things, Beth saw nothing. However this nothing is an entire intelligence that wants her back.
Nothing isn't over the four-minute stand he had with Beth, haunting her husband, Owen, into killing her to get her back to Nothing. Owen instead creates a reverse home by the lake, luring Beth look-alikes back to the home to trick Nothing into thinking Beth died.
This confused me a little, because I'm assuming Nothing is a lot smarter than assuming a look-alike is the Beth. Doesn't it have blood sample? A better, soul-based verification? Clearly not. It realized Owen's tricks and that lead to his "suicide." In the end, Beth is almost convinced to take her life until Claire and Mel save her in time. I believe Nothing is a metaphor of “stopping the pain.” It’s the promise of an end to the torment, the depression, the dull and excruciating task of living in misery. I just really loved it and am glad I got recommended it by TikTok.

4. Scream 6
Y'all, I don't think I can stop loving this franchise.
In an effort to not be seen as a hypocrite since, if I remember correctly, I was pretty tepid with my review on Scream V, BUT! But! This one has rejuvinated the small, itty-bitty hope I had in this franchise. 'Cause that's what she is; my baby's a franchise.
I don't know why I don't like Sydney Prescott. It's not that I hate her, but you gotta admit she's overstayed her welcome. This is why I was happy Ms Never Wanna Die was not in Scream 6. It makes so much sense, this show. It's a repeat, one I hope they don't continue, but Scream 5 is technically just "Scream," just like the first movie from 1996. The boyfriend was the killer in the original, so it's cool that the boyfriend's the killer in Scream (2022). In Scream 2 (1997), the killer's family comes back to blame Sydney Prescott for their piss-poor parenting. So In Scream 6 (2023), it's now a realized pattern that they're intentional by making the killers Richie's dad and siblings - one serial killer is bad enough, but the entire family is fucked. Hopefully in Scream 7, this isn't the same because that'd only mean the off screen Carpenter mother had some random love child with Adolf Hitler and that kid felt left out of the already dysfunctional family of the sisters.
Or it's Tara. But that's wishful thinking.
I loved loved loved loved LOVED it. The opening scene of the Jaime King kin member Samara Weaving dying was fantastic. We get to see a Ghostface reveal in the first few minutes, which is a first of the movies and so refreshing. It made me excited when I assumed we'd know one of the identities and how they'd incorporate that into the story. However, when said Ghostface heads home just to be killed by another, it blew my mind. "Who gives a fuck about the movies?!" Plus that angle? Y'all I was in heaven! I truly do not think I will EVER get tired of these movies and it's really sad. This is my Fast and Furious. This is my James Bond, my Star Wars franchise, my Days of Our Lives, My Greys Anatomy...I hope it never ends and if it does, what would life be? Bleak, I think.
I have to admit there are a few logistical issues. Like, why Kirby didn't do extensive research into Wayne Bailey the second she hopped onto the case for a "helping hand." Matter of fact, how was he even transferred to NY without a background search and the discovery of a link between Richie? Given Kirby's past and how no one in these situations can be trusted, why hadn't she done this? How had Bailey been able to bribe that many criminal evidence from the one police station without anyone finding out? Are there no inventories? Not many big cases seem to happen in that town, so I feel like the top four big cases of Ghostface would've been noticed gone. How did her therapist not know who she was since she's practically infamous, and what was his purpose in the story? I know it's to build up the many cases of defamation against Sammy but it was pretty weak. To be quite honest, a final girl like Kirby should've been handled with better care. I kind of felt like she was there for a legacy token coin and a misdirection that I'll admit got me. Other than that, pretty good.
I think these movies will be better than most being sputtered out today because of the pressure these writers have not to fuck up Wes Craven's work. A good idea would've been all the costumes on Halloween night paying tribute to Craven's many movies, but they are dated so I understand. Would've been cool though.

5. The Lighthouse
I don't want to be that girl. I already stated how I am when it comes to slow burns, but I tolerate elevated horror. Tara Carpenter is rolling her eyes, but she has a stab wound to heal from so priorities. I clicked on this one and just watched it quickly before I talked myself out of it.

Seeing Willem Dafoe being walked like a dog was an interesting scene.
Seeing a mermaid pussy was also one for the books.
The Lighthouse was directed by Robert Eggers, who we all know from The Witch. He's an amazing director and clearly has a niche for period pieces. I don't know how to properly review this since I still do not know what the fuck I watched - Watch Mojo couldn't even help me. It's based on a Greek mythology and is about wanting something you cannot have. One of the references was Icarus, who died after flying too closely to the sun despite his father's warning. Proteus, a sea god that controlled the changes of oceanic bodies of water was also mentioned. Thomas Wake (played by Willem Dafoe) warned "Ephraim Winslow" of not killing seagulls to avoid bad luck, who were believed to be reincarnated sailers. However, out of frustration of one getting in the cistern, he kills a seagull, and all goes downhill from there. Since the beginning, the demands of being a lighthouse keeper proved to be demanding for Winslow:doing menial, disgusting, or laborious jobs around the rock the lighthouse resided on. What follows is Winslow's slow turn into madness, hysteria, and greed.
The part on sailers being reincarnated into seagulls was so interesting. The one-eyed seagull attacking him multiple times correlates to the previous "wickie" under Wake who had only one eye, the other seemingly singed in. Time going by differently for Winslow when he missed the lighthouse tender because of the storm. In the end, when Wake is murdered by Winslow and Winslow finally gets to ascend to the lighthouse, a growing curiosity of his since Wake never allowed him up there but himself, it reminded me of Icarus. Getting too close to the sun. He is then seen, one eyed, laying on the rocks as seagulls pick at his intestines.
I can dissect some parts of this movie, but that's it. It was an interesting watch. If I rewatch it again, I hope to discover things I missed. Hopefully next time I'll have subtitles.
6. Bodies, Bodies, Bodies! (2023)
Directed by Halina Reijn, this movies follows a group of young adults who get stuck in a remote mansion during a hurricane. When one stumbles up dead, this kick-starts a night of horrors as the group is picked off one by one by a mysterious killer.
This movie is so funny. I knew it would be fun to watch since majority of the scenes were Tiktok sounds, my favorite being the upper middle class one. There's nothing really revolutionary to talk about during the entire movie. Majority of the drama are things that happened off screen since the movie starts when Sophie shows up on the last day of an already existing hangout. It was still good, just a little annoying when they spoke on drama between a random guy name Max and Emma. Everything else was fine and easy to follow along with. This is the friend group where everyone hates each other and probably just tolerates each other just because they grew up together. It's also a really fun and tasteful jab at our generation's internet culture and the obsessive need to find victimhood. I mention victimhood because the ending is so ridiculous and unavoidable that it's crazy. David (played by Pete Davidson) is threatened by the geriatric Greg (played by Lee Pace), a “vet" that is hanging out with a bunch of 20-somethings at his gargantuan age. Greg used a machete to cut open a bottle of champagne, which all the girls fawn over. This annoys David, who is threatened by a new man in the group and it shows. After leaving a game of heated Bodies, Bodies, Bodies between David and Greg, David goes on Tiktok to try and replicate the champagne trick, slicing his neck open in the process. He stumbles up to the house with an open neck, freaking out the girls, and making Greg suspect number one. After the most nauseating misunderstandings happen between Greg and the girls, he is killed by Bee, Sophie's new two-finger warmer, with a kettlebell. These girls went through a night of hell, accidentally killing each other off or turning against one another as preexisting tensions comes to light.
There is no killer.
I was watching this trying to do my process of elimination and coming up empty. I thought, if it's this fucking off-scene dude, Max, I will throw a fit. This cannot be Pretty Little Liar's season finale where they introduce the culprit as someone we never saw. Max was at least mentioned but still.
It was just so ridiculous in a good way. Sophie annoyed me. She didn't stand up to them kicking Bee out or the fight with Bee and Jordan. Plus, she was cheating on sweet Bee. What country is that girl from? Who knows. Aside from being a foreign girl from an unnamed country, she is the outside of the group or long term friends so they quickly turn against each other. Plus Sophie was a romantic two-timer, which raised even more tension for third party Jordan. This movie was so ridiculous that I loved it. I just keep repeating, “He’s a Libra Moon! He wouldn’t do this!”
What I really want to know is what was on that phone of Sophie's?

7. His House (2020)
Wunmi Mosaku twice in one month? I'm not complaining.
Rial and Bol are refugees who make a harrowing escape from war-torn South Sudan. However, they get more than they bargained for with their new home.
His House is…. a trip. Directed by Remi Reeks, it stars Mosaku and Sope Dirisu who move into a home after seeking asylum in England. They’re on a trial base stay where they’re placed under strict restrictions they have to abide by or else face deportation. Bol is excited to start his new life in England and assimilates quickly to their customs. He opts to eat on a table as opposed to the floor, uses utensils instead of his hands, and buys western clothing. In a later scene, he even tries to stop Rial from speaking dinka, their mother language. He attempts to be friendly with the neighbors, especially this one white woman above him, but is met with hostility. Rial, however, is less willing to assimilate to British culture and keeps her Sudanese customs, much to Bol’s dislike. I first assumed it was because everything seemed trivial after all the couple endured. On their way to England on a small fisher boat, majority of the people they were with died, including their daughter, Nyagak. But on Rial’s first trip to the doctors, she tells a physician that growing up in Sudan, two warring gang would mark themselves distinctively to whichever group they belonged to. Rial marked herself with both, signifying that she belonged nowhere. She’s used to being an outsider, so trying to fit into a country that expects her to be happy with “unseasoned scraps” is not a priority for her. Being “one of the good ones.”
The depiction of racism in this movie is so similar to how I hear it’s handled in England: it night as well not exist.
You know what they mean when they say certain things, do certain things, and treat you a certain way. Unlike the United States, racism in England is so covert that they themselves will deny ever having this problem. It’s kind of like that parent (England) traumatizing their child (United States) and then are shocked when the child goes on to live a more volatile life. Where is the origin of this madness? How did it get this bad? Not a clue.
I read Reni Eddo-Lodge’s book on Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race. The very first paragraph spoke on British’s hidden racist history. They learned about American history with racism, yet not their own, so people will swear up and down it’s not a thing.
But the racial undertones are just that in this movie, undertones. It isn’t on equal grounds as Lovecraft Country when it comes to the most impeding issue Bol and Rial will have to face. An apeth, a night witch, haunts the home, tormenting the couple so that a “debt” is paid.
The horror elements were amazing. I love this new turn in supernatural movies, especially when it comes to hauntings. Lingering shots, horrifying visuals that are so vivid, and those ghosts that sneak up on you out of frame. Is this an elevated horror? If so, it’s what The Babadook was for others but for me. I really don’t like the Babadook, but that was years ago. If I have time to waste, I’ll rewatch it and see how I like it.
Now to the spoilers. The twist was a twist for sure. On my second rewatching, it was a completely different experience because it’s so obvious yet so not what was really happening. This apeth that keeps haunting them calls Bol a thief and he seems to be the primary focus of the entity. Rial tells a story of a man that was poor and wanted a home, just like Bol, who stole from another man that he didn’t know was a night witch. He got his home and the apeth moved in with him, haunting and tormenting the man. I sat to wonder, what did Bol steal? Why isn’t this life his to have? I assumed he was a member of one of the gang that must’ve changed his mind on murdering and wanted to seek refuge. Did he kill someone to get the opportunity?
Girl no.
He stole Nyagak, his “daughter.” After Rial survives a massacre of her friends and Bol goes to find her, they escape with other people seeking refuge. They happen upon a bus that’s only loading people with children. As people fight to be let on, the bus lead refuses single people. As the gang shoots in a distance, Bol sees a child separated from her parent and grabs her, lying to the bus head and giving Rial and Bol a seat to freedom. Nyagak ends up dying on the boat, which starts the chain of a apeth following then to whichever home they get.
It’s funny when they get to the house and Mark greets them. The house is bigger than those afforded to refugees. Rial asks why they got such a big house and Mark states, “Must’ve won the jackpot.”
I really liked this movie and, unlike most elevated horrors, it has a good rewatch quality to it. I’d highly recommend it.
One random realization is that Brits are amazing actors. I realize this when I watched Fish Tank (2009). It’s just so realistic and so natural. One scene where Rial sees three black boys playing. She gets a sense of relief seeing them and goes to ask them for directions. They’re assholes and even tell her to go back to Africa, mocking her mother language and pronunciation. They were just so realistic and so natural. Even the most random actors with small roles are so good, I don’t know. Those acting coaches there are something else.
Lastly, Netflix, I need everything translated. I don’t care how insignificant it is, translate that shit! [Speaking in Dinka] motherfuckers. Tsk!

8. Swarm (2023)
An obsessed, Houston-base fan goes to increasingly violent lengths for her favorite R&B singer amid a death.
This one is hilarious. Why? Because I am a Beyonce fan. I even have her tatted on me, no joke. With that said, I know the Hive can be an interesting fandom. Does it rival Nicki Minaj's? Closely. Does it Chris Brown's? Crack always prevails, so no.
I do not like Donald Glover, nor his portrayal of black women. When it comes to Dre, a mentally ill black woman, he describes her as he would a rabid dog and directed Dominique Fishback as such. Instead of allowing Swarm to be a depiction - of sorts - of mental illness of a black woman taking form in murderous ways funneled through a shared interest between her and her late sister Marissa, we get this. The links between Beyonce I think was a good touch because it's funny and kinda true. The soul of the movie and its intentions I'll save for another day.
Fishback is amazing and my first time with her. Billie Eilish as Eva was jaw dropping. But best of all, Rickey Thompson as Kenny just trying to do his job was hilarious. I wanted to watch him over and over again and I hope it's a start to an amazing acting career.
The question I have with this show is, did Dre kill Marissa? I believe so. At first, I didn't. Marissa had a history of depression and seemed co-dependent so I'd assumed she killed herself from the breakup. But as I watched more reviewers who pointed out things I hadn't noticed, it seems more plausible.
I don't think Dre's murderous rampage is just because she loves Ni'Jah. The R&B singer was something Dre and Marissa shared together. She was this successful woman that inspired the girls, especially Marissa who wanted to be a popular makeup artist. She had Youtube videos of makeup tutorials and dreamed of being big. When she died, Dre (who might've been the one to take that life) saw Ni'Jah as the potential, the stardom, the fame that Marissa could've had. She essentially saw this woman as a way to still have some remnant of her late sister. Anyone who did not like Ni'Jah Dre viewed as insulting her best friend. They might as well have spat on Marissa’s dead body. The obsession with driving across states to see Ni'Jah, wanting to get close to her and be at that concert no matter what obstacle came in her way showed that. We don’t see this much length be measured when Marissa was alive.
Marissa and the R&B singer were one in the same. This proves true when Dre steals her way on stage with Ni'Jah. Instead of being tackled off, the dancers and Ni'Jah helps her up. Instead of the R&B singer's face, we see Marissa, who embraces her.
The show kept me on my toes every episode. The many casts were also interesting. My favorite death would be Paris Jackson's. I love the tongue-in-cheek jokes that mirror scandals and rumors of the actors, including Beyonce. That fact that Dre is the one to bite Bey was on the nose. The mini documentary that shows that what we're viewing is a dramatization of actors and seeing pictures of the "real" Dre was a nice twist too.
Let's talk about Ms Eilish! Those big, Piscean eyes. This woman is stunning. For her first acting debut, she was a plot twist of the many that were in this show. She came off creepy yet comforting at the same time, the perfect depiction of a cult leader. Truthfully, if that's a cult, I'd join. That's how I know I'd be perfect for these cult recruiters because to this day I don't see the red flags of those white bitches. Of course, they leverage your deepest secrets above your head to keep you in but honestly it's all namaste and ashwagandha mellows from there. Hiking, sisterhood, meditations? I hope I don't sound stupid...
Apparently there'll be a season two. I'm not the best in figuring out if a show needs one, but I don't think this one does. There are a lot of unanswered questions but I think for an ending like the one we were given....dead it. It's an open-ended answer and the speculation of what is real and what isn't is fun and elevates it. If it comes out I'll still watch it, but I hope that's it.

9. Level 16 (2018)
Girls in a prison-like boarding school embark on a desperate search to uncover the awful truth behind their captivity.
This is literally The Promised Neverland. It really isn't far off from what I hear is being done for people to retain youth. Especially for those who can afford it. If anyone knows that one Ellen interview with Sandra Bullock, I don't even think that's the tip of the iceberg.
This one was all over my Tiktok feed, plus Stephanie Soo made a video on it so I knew what it was about and knew the big reveal. I still liked the movie, so I don't think it ruined it for me. But I do know my experience would've been a lot different hadn't I known. It's so hard avoiding spoilers. Even harder when you don't realize it's a spoiler you'll want to avoid in the future.
I know Katie Douglas from Ginny and Georgia and a few clips of The Girl Who Escaped (2021). Sara Canning is Jenna from The Vampire Diaries, so it was nice seeing that she's still employed. Love her.
Like The Promised Neverland, the children of this "boarding school" endure sixteen years of indoctrination in an attempt to be the perfect child in hopes of being adopted. They have never been outside and have only been within the walls of the school. The girls don't know certain things like "movies," calling them "moving pictures." They're unaware of how to read and I assume write. Every day is a schedule that doesn't falter. If there are any interruptions, the fear of being sent to the basement for punishment and being seen as "unclean" keeps them in line. There are also guards. Unclean girls are ostracized and treated as infections that might spread to the others. Vivian hides that secret of being "unclean" years ago after an incident on level 10, but it isn't a pressing issue in the story.
This is a good plot. It was weirdly paced, but still good. Maybe it has to do with me knowing the stakes, but I felt like it wasn't better shown? I just couldn't take this joke of a school seriously. It seemed like they only had two guards and the rooms were poorly ran. If the girls knew any better they'd easily overpower them or just break through the thin, rotting walls.
Certain things didn't make sense. Vivian was punished on level 10 trying to help Sophia. Years pass when the girls meet each other on level 16 once again, their final year. Vivian is now a obedient girl that treads the line and avoid getting involved with anything that would jeopardize adoption. With that said, why would she not take the medication when Sophia told her? Sophia gave no explanation. From the point of view of Vivian, Sophia is the reason why she went through something so traumatic in the basement that still haunts her six years later. So why just automatically believe her with no reason to and the potential of defying these "caretakers" that once punished her for something similar?
I'm nitpicking.
I just like this specific plot and had my jaws to the floor when The Promised Neverland first released it. Who would've thought an orphanage would turn out to be a farm for harvesting children...Definitely doesn't happen in the real world that's for sure! (sarcasm)
An amazing plot. It had one horrific scene which is horror enough for me, so I added it to this month's reviews.

10. The Babysitter: Killer Queen
Two years after defeating a satanic cult lead by his babysitter, Cole once again has to outsmart the forces if evil when old enemies unexpectedly return.
Starring Judah Lewis once again as Cole, he is now a junior in high school still being bullied. The fact that all the events of the first 2017 movie was cleaned up results in no one believing Cole who is mocked for being “crazy.” His parents think he’s nuts, even his best friend Melanie (reprised by Emily Alyn Lind) who’d helped him that night of outrunning his satanic babysitter, didn’t really see much to help his case. Even her new boneheaded boyfriend picks on Cole.
This one was also on my lift for a long time. I really liked the first movie, but had forgotten it, so I rewatched it before watching this new sequel (new to me anyway), so I guess you can add that to the list of what I watched this May. Killer Queen is so fun. I watched it two more times after because it’s a light movie, which is surprising given the premise. Black comedy horror are usually good and this is no exception. I might make a list honoring them. The comedic timing, the visual effects, the casting, and, the best of all, Jenna mother fucking Ortega.
I didn’t really like this role much for her for some reason. The character is great and all, but something was just off. Not sure. It doesn’t ruin my rating of this movie but I just wanted to put that out there.
Now to the spoilers. Melanie is the new blond goddess with her name in the devil’s book. I did not see that shit coming. They corner Cole on a boat after taking him on a trip to “relax” after he finds out his parents are fed up with their crazy son and are planning to ship him off to a psychiatric hospital. The new group of teens are Melanie, her boyfriend, Jimmy, Diego, and Boom-Boom are all playing a game when Diego tastelessly ask Cole about his killer babysitter. Melanie instigates, but Diego presses. Melanie slips up a detail of the night that Cole never mentioned to her and she is figured out when Cole doesn’t budge on never having had mentioned that information. Melanie slits Boom-Boom’s throat. The sacrificed. Cole is once again face to face with the same cult that wanted to use his blood for power, fame, and glory. Funnily enough tonight is the night the old friend group of his dead babysitter, Bee, comes back. They are still on the pursuit to use Cole’s blood to get their wildest dreams. Phoebe, Jenna Ortega’s character that’s on her own side quest that independently seems to be related to Cole’s, opens the door to the scene. Her jet ski ran out of gas and she’d stopped on the anchored boat for help but quickly leaves once it’s obvious this is no ordinary party.
I don’t mean to victim blame here, but all of this could’ve been avoided if Cole just got drugged. Actually, I do mean to victim blame. It would be less traumatizing, wouldn’t it?
In the first movie, Bee laced a shot glass of alcohol she was going to give to young Cole but he was afraid of the taste and downed it in the plant when Bee wasn’t looking. From what I got, they were going to leave the boy alive. In Killer Queen, that seemed to be the same case. But that didn’t happen, so Melanie had to quickly improvise. Her deal with the devil was more important than her friendship with Cole, who she teases his feelings for her on many occasions.
I’m not saying just let them use you for a satanic ritual, but if you end up alive… I don’t know. Seems better than running around trying to outrun two groups of killers out for blood.
This movie is just hilarious. My three favorite characters are Robbie Amell, jock head of Bee’s friend group, and Ken Marino, who plays Cole’s father. Marino I know from iZombie and he is hilarious on that too. Everything Amell says is just so perfectly timed and he’s not so bad to look at. I liked him in Duff and that one Scooby live action in 2009. He’s also in a show called Upload I’m excited to start - the clips looked amazing on Tiktok. Samara Weaving is an iconic given, and I’m happy that she and Ortega have worked together in Scream 6.
I recommend both movies strongly. The plot is so good and the actors are perfectly casted. The ending is nice too. I’m just really glad his parents will finally realize he’s telling the truth. Misunderstandings and gaslighting a protagonist is the worst. If they make a third movie, I wouldn’t mind at all. I hope Netflix does since they love to run things into the mud, but we’ll see.
10/10.
Next month I plan on watching the new Evil Dead Rise. I'm just waiting on my boyfriend, so it'll take a while. He also hasn't watched any Jordan Peele movies, which is crazy but perfect for me because I get to rewatch them all over again. I'm mostly excited for Get Out. Thank you for those who read my reviews. I hope I inspired a movie night or two, a binge watch or five.

EYES CLOSED, HE MERELY lounged about on a nearby couch, arms resting over the top of it and head tilted back with his face towards the ceiling. He heard the other speak, but said nothing in response – at least not right away. His silence would have come across as him sleeping to someone else, but Doppelganger was an eerily patient sort when he wanted to be. He knew that Ozymandias was not dozing away. Rather, the demon was allowing their words to drift about his thoughts before he deemed to answer. A minute or so had probably passed, that awkward pause soon broken when Ozymandias’ eyes opened and lips parted to speak. ❝Intimate? Is that what you call it? I suppose we do come to know our targets quite intimately in a sense.❞ Targets… That was what those they aimed for were. Demons were often predatory, purposely aiming for those who were desperate in madness, desperate in despair, desperate in rage, in love--- These were the easy ones to wrap around one’s finger. But a hungry ghost knew that well enough without explanation. ❝Dealing with groups can be a bit complicated unless that demon manages to make them believe they are a god to worship. Thus, it is far more prudent to separate.❞
However, there was no denying that the more powerful and cunning ones could gain a great deal of power from those who looked to them with devotion, ready to do any and everything for them even if it meant hurling themselves off a cliff or into a raging river. How dull. Absolutely dull. Demons like this were so tasteless. The other’s latter words rang in his mind – repeated once, twice… It was so instant how languid demeanor shifted, replaced by that burning, intense rage beneath the very surface of pleasant façade. ❝Servant?❞ he hissed, soon sitting up so that his gaze was now trained on the other. ❝Oh, what a way with words you have. It makes me want to dig my hand past that ribcage and gently squeeze that dead heart with all the adoration I contain in his body.❞ It was then that he pushed himself up, his steps purposely heavy, shoes clacking against the floor with each and every step until he stood before the other. Leaning forward, hands rested upon the couch, the demon now so close, that surely they could feel the heat emanating from his body in droves.
❝Do not pretend as if you are free, Hungry Ghost. You are bound by your own desires. Constantly hungry, constantly trying to fill something in that dead heart of yours… Although ultimately never finding anything. All this drink…❞ he paused, glancing off to the many bottles that littered the floor, ❝do nothing for you. Even the people you kill and devour to make yourself feel something deep within…do nothing either.❞ He looked back at the other than, his hand lifting to brush against cheek, ❝how very sad…yet the perfect source of amusement for a demon to toy with as they watch you dance to fate’s cruel strings with very little hope of escaping it in your infinite deaths. But one day it will end. All things end.❞ This union was not forever. He would see to its destruction one way or another, and when the day came, he would laugh.
There was no forever.
That was all a myth.

I want to get my Winchesters theory on the record before it probably gets disproved next week or in the finale.
So in a nutshell my theory is that the akrida are a byproduct of postseason 15 jack trying to remake the universes chuck destroyed in the final season. They can bleed through cracks in time bc of weird universe-making rules existing outside of time or something. We know Robbie Thompson's into messing with time and also I miss when doctor who was good. So something-something time's already screwed a little anyway so jack sends back some time traveling angels to just ... Drop little hints to the humans in like hieroglyphics or the dead sea scrolls or whatever about how to deal with these aliens from independence day. His version of the angel/demon/leviathan tablets. That's how you end up with secret supernatural-studying societies like the mol beating back the akrida throughout history even though there is literally no mention of them ever doing that in spn and in fact their whole thing is non-involvement anyway (except during WWII I guess, which is fair). That way there's not supernatural beings DOING THINGS that they haven't already been established doing and the groups that would be into this stuff anyway just have like, another thing to be into, so instead of killing just vampires they're killing vampires AND akrida. But what about when abbadon wipes out the mol Dean asks jack. Jack is like, idk, maybe Rufus can take care of it. And dean's like I know a hunter. And Jack's like no. And dean's like you killed my mom. And Jack's like ok but they can't know who you are. And so Dean goes down to earth on what is supposed to be a temporary trip to tip John off and then hangs around because when has Dean EVER done what an all-powerful supernatural entity told him to do?
Here are some things in the show that don't NOT support this theory
1. Dean's voice over in the pilot makes a point that the akrida aren't just a threat to earth but a threat to "the entire universe". Which is interesting bc dean knows chuck is going to wipe out all the other worlds in the universe in like 50 years, so what's a few decades give or take?
2. Obviously there's some time travel going on bc dean is hanging around. But it's ANOTHER LEVEL OF TIME TRAVEL to summon the future ghost of someone who is not yet dead, as they do with Henry Winchester.
3. idk how that last one actually supports my theory, it's just super weird and I find it fascinating.
4. The akrida existing are the only thing bringing John, Mary, Carlos, and Lata together, suggesting they may not have all been pals in the original timeline, which means Carlos and Lata don't necessarily die young and tragic like the rest of Mary's friends. This isn't really evidence, just a nice thought and another reason I like my theory.
5. I feel like I had more evidence than this but I can't think of any more
Basically I just think this theory is a good way to make Winchesters take place in another universe without making it ANOTHER UNIVERSE where it's not our John and Mary, the parents of our Sam and Dean. Probably chuck and jack will still have to show up and do some memory erasure of John or something to keep the future timeline from being too messed up though.

finally got around to listening to the beetlejuice musical! honestly, wasnt as good as i had hoped.
i was introduced through an animatic of "say my name" where it seemed like adam and barbara are alive, and lydia kills herself at the end of the song to possess her dad, which as a premise interests me a lot more than what actually happens. also my favourite line of "say my name" (and lo, the entire musical) is "so he wants the perfect daughter" which i was really hoping was gonna be a motif from another song, which it isnt.
so yeah. in my head exists a version of this musical where beetlejuice and lydia are both ghost-demon-things and are battling for power over the scale of a small community, and people are willingly letting either one possess them to defend themselves from the workings of the other. perhaps with a message about the power but ultimate shortcomings of martyrdom as a means of change, or the problems that arise when you only have two agents of change to choose between (and both are evil). you can hear it though, right? left cast versus right cast, bee-tle-juice, ly-di-a, bee-tle-juice, ly-di-a, bee-(ly-)tle-(di-)juice!(a!) with beetlejuice going low and lydia going high, ahhh very good.
so adam, barbara, and lydia are all siblings, right, and adam and barbara both summon beetlejuice to deal with the problems their dad is causing them (beetlejuice resolves these problems in a non-murderous way. in this head-cannon, the more people that summon him, the more power he has. no, i havent actually seen very much of beetlejuice's character. yes, this is going to character-assassinate him in the worst way. sue me). lydia, however, does not trust beetlejuice, and is also much more suicidal than her siblings. so, after lydia rejects beetlejuice's offer, she offs herself. the dad, obviously heartbroken by this, mourns her, and happens to say her name three times in a row. the ghost of lydia laughs, and starts fucking shit up big time for the dad, who is weeping and confused. the siblings, still in shock from watching their sister throw herself off a roof, experience a bit of schadenfreude, but that quickly turns to horror as they realize the gravity of what is transpiring. lydia nearly kills the father before the siblings intervene. lydia, feeling betrayed, fucks off to sulk for a while. the siblings explain to their father that they cannot say lydia's name three times in a row, because doing so represents a serious health risk to dear old dad. dad is distraught because he has to be careful in how he mourns his daughter. however, beetlejuice still has some control over the siblings, and uses the situation to his advantage, pressuring them into making others summon him or else he will force one of them to summon lydia. lydia, still being new to this and having lost control over her father, haunts some other emo kids in town who summon her, and start a little cult to get back at the adults in their lives. badaboom badabing, youve got a small-town-cult-off, where there are no winners and everyone is sad.
anyways. that was fun. time to never think about this musical again. (so he wants the perfect daughter... fuck, that line is good)
