Chapter 18: Epilogue (2/2) and Happily Ever After

They passed through the hotel lobby, grinning like lovestruck morons, lost in each other’s eyes.

Odd couple didn’t even faintly capture it. Eddie was, of course, wearing a thrash metal t-shirt and a bellhop hat, while Steve sported a thousand-dollar designer suit. If they got any judgmental looks, Eddie didn’t notice any more than he cared. To these high society jerks, he might look like a flat-broke stoner. Joke on them was that the credit card Eddie had slammed on the counter was well in the black.

Vecna’s Doom Quest II had been a blockbuster hit. While he’d paid all his early royalties back to Dustin, Suzie and their charitable trusts, he and Steve had plenty of cash left over for them to live a lifestyle that… wasn’t beyond their wildest dreams, actually. So far, and with the exception of the harrowing court cases, it’d been quiet and domestic and just kinda nice.

When they approached the revolving door, Steve reached out and squeezed Eddie’s hand. Steve was always super-vigilant, looking out for him, when they were out and about in crowded places. Occasionally, Eddie also worried they were getting too responsible and middle-aged before their time.

Or maybe not.  

When they finally got back to their rented apartment, there were six messages on the answerphone:

“Dude, pick up!” Gareth whined, on the full-to-bursting tape. “Jeff’s van’s totally busted, so we’re gonna fly down and practice on your gear at the apartment. You better be ready, man.”

Ooookay. Quiet domesticity was about to be shattered.

Eddie had finally persuaded Corroded Coffin to get back together. While he army-crawled his way toward the challenge of performing live again, they’d recorded a demo and scattered-gunned it all over LA. Next week they’d gotten their first actual audition, with a lowkey Indie label.

Now, Eddie grimaced, while Steve made a beeline for the galley kitchen. While Eddie was pumped for the audition, he’d hoped they’d have a day or so more to themselves.

“Better order several crates of beer in,” muttered Steve, pausing to kick a stray drumstick out of his path. He dumped a paper bag of snaffled pastries from the hotel kitchen. “I got first dibs on the leftover cinnamon buns, before your crew eat us out of house and fucking home.”

“Look, I know you said you were fine with the band crashing here,” said Eddie, pursuing Steve across the barely visible linoleum, “you sure about that?”

“I do technically own a hotel for a few more hours.” Steve chugged back some Diet Coke then shrugged. “This place is already cluttered with your shit. I can rarely find middle C on my keyboard, so I don’t see what difference a few more sweaty bodies is gonna make, and… I get it, Eddie. If you guys wanna be real again, or whatever, capture the right vibes, you need to get back to those grass roots.”

As long as nobody smokes grass in my Babe’s apartment. Eddie wasn’t going to say that out loud, because Steve would bristle. Eddie would quietly enforce it anyway.

“Okay, feel free to change your mind,” he said. “They piss us off, I’m sure Robin can store them in your old linen closet, or something.”

Steve snickered, but genuinely seemed chill about it. In fact, his smirk segued into a grin, one hand snaking around to find that strategically placed rip in Eddie’s jeans—so yeah, basically groping Eddie’s butt-cheek. “We better make the most of our privacy, right?” he purred.

Eddie stalled only to plop back on the bellhop hat, which he’d still gotten clutched in one sweaty paw: “Your wish is my command.”

“Jesus, will you drop that shit?” Steve’s grip on Eddie’s ass tightened, and he smacked his lips to Eddie’s in an inarguably hungry kiss.

Steve couldn’t ever get enough of kissing Eddie. He couldn’t ever get enough of their life together.

Today, Eddie tasted of coffee and almond pastries and of… yeah, that uniquely awesome taste of Eddie. Kissing him set off the sappiest lyrics wailing in Steve’s ears. He was only sorry, as he backed Eddie out of the kitchen and toward the bedroom, that they’d not gotten Corroded Coffin’s ‘Fire Shroud’ demo blasting from the beatbox. Steve, basically, had Bryan Adams on a hell-loop: ‘You know it's truuuue, Everything I dooooo, I do it for yooooou!’

On the other hand, it was so good to have music as his happy place again.

Before, he’d hardly been able to endure songs he once loved. The feelings that they’d triggered, and the avalanche of memories, had been too overwhelming. Once he’d learned the truth about his parents, he’d been able to grieve at last. To finally move on, knowing they’d done their best to look out for him after all. It wasn’t their fault—nor his, really—that he’d been conned.

He even conceded that Extreme cover of ‘Love of my Life’ was passable. But only after he made Eddie sing the original Queen harmonies—as many as one guy could—while he was belting it out on his other new beloved, his Yamaha keyboard.

One matter between them remained slightly off-key, though.

Eddie was still hyper-conscious about how things had started out, how he’d hired Steve as a hooker. Steve was eternally telling him that he didn’t need to ‘make amends,’ that they’d rarely been out-of-kilter in the bedroom. Eddie still needed reassurance sometimes.

Which Steve was more than willing to give.

Now, when they broke for air, Steve wedged his fingers under the chin strap of the bellhop cap. He swung Eddie around with it before shoving him down flat on their entirely normal-sized double bed. Who needed Emperor-size when you sleep best entangled in each other? Eddie didn’t snore so bad since he quit, while Steve’s asthma was pretty much under control.

Though not as much as he had a demonically grinning Eddie completely under his control. He straddled Eddie’s torso, playfully pinning Eddie’s arms either side of his head.

“I can ask for anything, right?” Steve arched over Eddie, nibbling his lips down the curve of Eddie’s throat.

“Hell, yeeeeeah,” Eddie was saying, his voice pitching toward a squeak. Steve nuzzled his thrumming voice-box and undulated on top of him, bumping and grinding against his groin.

“Let’s start with getting rid of that dumb hat.”  It was flung across the room in an instant. “Seeing as I’m gonna spend the next week being your groupie”—Steve paused to scrub his tongue up the shallow stubble on Eddie’s throat— “I want you to get totally metal on my ass. I mean, Jesus, Munson! It’s been a traumatic day. I’m not in the mood for heavy lifting.”

Then he slammed back down for another kiss, rolling and grappling and hugging and laughing, till Eddie rolled on top, pinning him instead.

“Fuuuuuck, Stevie!” Eddie now sucked Steve’s earlobe, nibbling the line of his jaw. Eddie’s hands slid down his arms, thumbing the super-sensitive arc of Steve’s elbow—Christ, when he was with Eddie, every part of his skin turned into an erogenous zone. They helped each other out of their shirts—not quite sending buttons flying nor seams ripping. Eddie really loved that Exodus t-shirt, which was limited edition and pretty much irreplaceable, while Steve had only sunk money into one premium-brand court day outfit.

“God, I love you so much,” whispered Eddie. “Have I ever told you how beautiful your body is?”

“Yeah. Every day. Never gets old… Shit, yeah… Lower… Gnng!” Eddie’s breaths blazed over Steve’s tightly sucked-in belly, while Steve gyrated up against him. Then Eddie hooked his fingers in Steve’s tailored waistband and peeled Steve’s pants down—a relief, because Steve’s erection was definitely straining plenty of stitches around there. He forgot that the instant he was freed, the pants tossed aside. Eddie took Steve’s dick in his mouth and pure liquid ecstasy overtook him.

Steve rested his head back on the feather-soft pillow, otherwise floating on thin air, all his awareness confined to the blowjob. “Oh. Wow.” Steve’s chin dug into Eddie’s pec as he slid his face up to see what Eddie was on about, and Eddie helped by brushing his hair from his eyes. “Well, if you reckon it’s gonna help you in the audition, maybe you should—”

“Naaaah,” said Eddie, the word blending into an unbothered yawn. He chucked the magazine to the floor and curled both arms around Steve, cuddling him a little tighter. “It’s gonna be me and my two true sweethearts against the world from now on.”

“You can battle all you like with your beloved guitar, man. I’m looking forward to not having the world fight back for a change.” Steve sounded invigoratingly bitchy.

Eddie pressed a kiss to his hair. They curled up beneath the covers to enjoy being naked together… till the arrival of Corroded Coffin sent their lives spiralling off into a new kind of chaos, this time entirely of their own choosing.

guys im conflicted lolz. I think a date is nice its fun and cutesy and doesn't have to be anything more. but even early into the date like a couple hrs in he mentioned this David lynch screening at the independent cinema and if I'd like to go w him eventually. and he had already mentioned it over txt asking me earlier... so idk it was cute he asked again and I was also like ohhh he does want to see me again interesting

and I hate that I like the validation of being liked or someone who another person could find interesting and enjoy being around and be romantically attracted to. but it is nice ig but I don't want to get crazy or anything bc he is moving back to Florida after his time here is up bc he moved for work for a brief relocation thing. so just being ok w that idk. and i don't think i want a real relationship anyway atm bc I don't feel ready for one but it is kinda like oh what if my feelings end up hurt bc he eventually will move away. but people aren't things to have or keep etc and a brief experience w someone can b nice.

so we'll see. but it was chill nd im trying to not be impressed by the bare minimum like him holding a door open for me or offering to pay for my food which I declined. I think we got along pretty well I mean most of it was us walking around aimlessly sometimes in circles just talking lolol. and I find when I'm on dates like that where we just walk and talk I do enjoy it and get along w those ppl more... like obv thats not the whole date like let's do something else but I do enjoy the walking and talking component bc u both like to just talk and its something u both are content sharing with each other

we checked out a thrift store nd there was some cool stuff but I didn't buy any clothes tho I did get a handmade ring which I like a lot. it has a thin band and a blue bead in the center. and then we walked for quite a while like an hour or two outside hahaha. and then we went to a record store and browsed a lot and talked abt music while we browsed. I got a Hum cd and big star cd. and then we got food and sat and talked for a while. and then after when we were walking again he asked if he could hold my hand.. I think he said like would you mind if I held your hand and idk maybe im insane but it was kinda cute and endearing kinda hot idk like 🤓 being asked... nd I got kinda flustered and was like yes. or I mean no. and we didn't talk for a minute while we just walked holding hands and I was kinda nervous. like im an adult woman why is a simple wholesome gesture making me all nervous and feeling like im doing something wrong by having intimate physical contact w someone hahaha. and it was kinda hot outside ngl by the afternoon

and then we sat on a bench and talked again for a long time and probably like 30-40min passed until he asked if he could put his arm around me and I was like ok🤭 and his hand was kinda near my hip and sometimes it'd brush against it and idk that is sexyyyy a tiny bit maybe I am insane nd just romance starved. but yeah I thought he was very nice and lowkey. like a lot of times I would talk more than him and go on long tangents lmaoo. I was kind of worried I was talking too much or taking up too much of the conversational space but its silly and also OK like I need to feel confident w taking up space and being verbose and saying what I want and like it matters ! but it was nice I felt fairly comfortable enough to talk a lot bc that's not always the case. nd it rly depends on the person and setting and how I'm feeling etc. but I did feel like conversation came pretty easy. but ngl I kinda just talk abt all the different stuff I like lmaoo. and he was nice and such. and at the end when he was walking me to my car he said he had a lot of fun and liked talking to me and my opinions on stuff which idk that kind of was nice since I often don't feel confident in what I have to say and verbalizing my thoughts and likes and such to others... nd he texted again saying he had a good time talking to me or smth. its funny cuz im so bad at differentiating platonic vs romantic and I thought maybe it was platonic at first until he asked if he could hold my hand lmaooo. and I do think he's very cool and has cool music taste and art and the fact that he does fiber arts and makes clothes and stuff like ok. But I was intimidated a bit too cuz I thought he was too cool~ for me and also too hot LOL... and i did think he was very cute irl too. and it was funny how we both dressed in a v similar aesthetic when we met up. me in a black dress nd sweater and he was wearing black pants and shoes and a dark navy shirt and we looked very coordinated nglllll. hahaha. and i liked that he complimented my jewelry after we left the thrift store bc its a nice detail to be noticed. and later he complimented my tattoos again. ok whatever

So I lowkey fucked up and instead of talking about the backstory of the cycling au like Seanagh asked for an ask game, I wrote close to 2k of worldbuilding. So I will answer Seanaghs actual ask tomorrow asdfg, but I dont wanna delete all my hard work so yapping about the cycling AU under the cut. My beloved AU <3. Please talk to me about it. Ask me about it. Please

First of all, I assume you saw the unroll at the very end of the fic where there was so much more lore written than what was in the fic proper so I will be mostly expanding on that, but second of all, because of the very theoretical not a sequel but a fic in the same universe, I have committed one (or two depending on how you view it) retcons, so I will yap about those first.

So the one (or two) retcons are that Carlos was sort of implied to be teammates with Charles and Pierre, just not appearing in the fic cause you know. Cycling teams contain 20 - 30 riders, especially the better ones, a good cyclist missing out on a Grand Tour is wild but there was the strong implication in the fic that it was because of Vuelta, which is a three week race in Spain. Add in that this is happening in 2024 where the Olympics are a thing and yeah, you got a solid reason for Carlos missing out.

Except this did not really work for what I am plotting for Cycling AU 2, so I am creating a new team just for him. And Oscar. And Lando. And probably other guys I cannot remember from the top of my head because yes, what is this is not McLaren, cycling edition. McLaren even sponsored a cycling team for a year in 2020, behold, the Pro Cycling Stats page of Bahrain - McLaren (idk why I'm linking it beyond the fact that I keep losing it over the idea of McLaren sponsoring a team and needing proof lol).

Actually, let me just add a picture of my list of who is in what team, without team names tho, too lazy to think of how the teams would be named

Of course, this is non exhaustive, this is just the guys who are canonically in a team together, either as established by no rules or retconned/established in the unnamed not a sequel fic. Fernando and Lance have question marks cause I dont particularly like separating teammates/guys who exist in my head together, but heres the thing.

Idk how I feel about Fernando and Lewis being teammates in present day, I don't like having George on that team as well cause he's been established as a points classification contender which makes everything awkward with Lewis and Fernando being GC contenders to even KoM competitors (and before anyone comes for me, I hope yall know that my choices for who falls into which classification are largely based on vibes. And no GC is not above any other classifications, look at Mark Cavendish's racing record, and then remember that he is considered one of the most successful cyclists ever- and he is a sprinter. Sorry for the rant)

Anyway, rant aside, yes, in theory points classification contenders (sprinters) and GC contenders can be on the same team, however the only example I can think of is VLaB and Wout van Aert at Vuelta this year, but I dont even think it was the primary goal of theirs. Then again, I cannot bring myself to care about VLaB so who knows. And yes, it is just fanfiction, but look. I am weird about realism. Will write about two straight athletes having gay sex any day of the week, but some hand wavy team building? Not on my watch.

So yes. There is that, but as previously stated, I dont wanna separate teammates and, second of all, I was funny at one point in Cycling AU 2 and now I sort of have to have Fernando be on the team. Or well, I don't, it can be Lewis, but Lewis does not fit the vibes of Vuelta to me, and also Fernando is just a much better... antagonist is not the correct term but close enough, when the fic is set in Spain and the two main guys are Oscar and Carlos because consider; Fernando was 100% Carlos' childhood hero in this AU.

So anyways yes, this end of the worldbuilding I have been frying my brain over for the past week ish. Otherwise the teams are pretty easy to construct; Alpine and most of Ferrari together, realistically at least Ollie is there as well, its the quintessential cycling team, there is not necessarily such thing as a historical team in cycling because these teams have very little identity beyond their sponsors, but this is the closest you can get to it. Oscar is a plucky young mountain domestique mentored by the decently successful former Australian cyclist Mark, Carlos is... well... okay I have no idea what senior is doing in this AU, I think just for funsies we should keep him as a rally driver, but Carlos junior has still as many catholic suffering and vague daddy issues as irl Carlos has. Dont tell me he does not. Maybe not the conventional type but he sure has issues cause of his parents success.

Actually re Carlos, yes senior is still a successful rally driver like he is irl and maybe junior did not initially go into cycling, he just sort of... fell into it. Like he was doing it just to keep in shape and next thing he knew he was getting picked up as if he was a pro and at thet point he imprinted on Fernando and now 10 - 15 years later he has so many issues because of it. Oh Carlos, you fool).

Also also, re Oscar, he is still desperately trying to find is footing in this sport. He is doing good, all things considered, but then there is Lando, George, so many other riders only slightly older than him and already considered generational talents, meanwhile he is lucky if he is a super domestique (domestiques are the riders helping the leader aka the specialiest guy do whatever he needs to do. Super domestique is like the leader and the one who holds out until the very end). He did just switch to a better team that might give him actual options in the future to be a GC contender/leader at some point, so maybe. And yes, Mark is his mentor cause I said so. Mark too in this AU has won a lot, but the white whale of a Tour win has escaped him. Something something Seb is a menace no matter the universe or something idk.

ANYWAY.

I'm not saying the Merc (and Aston) guys might as well be Sky/Ineos but I am saying I've been going so youre basically the same team to Sky/Ineos and Merc since I understood the concept of Merc F1 team so make of that what you will. But yes, close enough. Less floppy then Skyneos irl, but still a team that very quickly became good, dominated for a hot sec, and now is still a force to contend with even when they are no longer dominating. So I suppose two aging formerly successful riders and a non GC classification young guy is realistic.

(Also yes, if they were cyclists both Fernando and probably Lewis too would be retired or at least nowhere near competing at the top, cyclists retire way earlier than F1 drivers do. However, I don't care. I pick and choose where I stick to realism. Go fight my brain, its a very strange place)

Finally team D aka totally not Red Bull... well... you might as well be the Red Bull team in cycling as well. Just like. Switch the guys but keep the results and stuff, yes I am nerfing rbr because Red Bull - Bora - Hansgrohe are sorta shite but rbr lives and dies by its car. And they have no car here. Or anything siilar. Also I just don't like Max I'm sorry. I will occasionally throw in a Yuki mention cause hes the only guy in that camp I care about. Get him out of there.

As for the other teams that I have not mentioned here, Haas guys are probably hanging out somewhere near Ferrari team or on their own, so do the Sauber guys tho maybe Gabriel is in the McLaren team or something, since he used to be a McLaren junior and idk, him in Sauber still feels fake to me if you ask me.

Williams is the real question here. For redacted reason they need to be a separate team I think, or at least the outlines of them need to be separate. Possibly they are the only relevant team that is not World Tour (ie the highest level) but rather a Pro Tour (the second highest). Practically what that means is that they compete the less prestigious races and they have to be invited to the fancy ones through a wildcard. So they are probably a team that was once World Tour, got sorta fucked up, disappeared for a while and now is back as a Pro Tour team trying to get back to the WT heights.

Anyway Alex hangs out there after a very unceremonious exit from Red Bull at the end of 2020, accompanied by all the usual suspects. Latifi, Logan, more that I am forgetting. They are, especially in recent years, considered one of the better Pro Tour teams and one of the main candidates for a wildcard entry in the fancier races especially. Alex in general is probably seen as one of the better sprinters out there and definitely is one of the main draws of the team. Probably every season there are rumors that he is in talks with a World Tour team but nothing has ever happened so far.

Talking of the Sauber guys tho, I'm like... tempted to make Valtteri not a road cyclist but make him commit to the gravel bit fully. Or just made him a road cyclist who does cyclocross in the winter like Wout van Aert or Mathieu van der Poel do irl. So many options tbh. Just like irl tho, he definitely has too much beef with the UCI (for those not in the know, sometime in late 2023 UCI aka the FIA of cycling made a post promoting womens gravel cycling and pointed out his gf Tiffany as someone to look out for and he rightfully pointed out that there is no place to watch womens gravel cycling. Go Valtteri go, womens cycling is quite frankly in hell)

alder attempts to negotiate with n, but n just keeps refusing. alder knows he slipped up here in even mentioning prison, probably making n's stubborn refusal to cooperate even worse right now. he's just exhausted and frustrated, and admittedly, n has been one of the most difficult people he's ever worked with. he's given everything he can manage to try and help this man- he took hydreigon's blast to save his life, he's given him shelter and food, an opportunity at freedom, and n absolutely will not let his guard down even an inch. so alder is at his wits end.

"Natural... If you want to get off of house arrest, you have to stay here for two years. After that, you can just... lie to everyone, tell them you're better now. Then run off to wherever it is you wanna be so badly. I've given you as much freedom as I'm legally allowed, and still, it's just not enough for you."

Alder continues. "You can still come back in and go to bed. I'll do whatever I can to keep this infraction off your record, and we'll keep trying to figure out how to make this transition easier for you- but you need to be open with us. You can't be angry at a world that never wronged you. The only one to blame is Ghetsis."

N struggles to find words for most of Alder's rebuking, but at the mention of Ghetsis, of course, he snaps. "Do-- do you think it was only Ghetsis who hurt me? Do you think Ghetsis is the only human who I've seen cause pain? That man isn't even my real father- I-- I was born to a village that cast me out! Left me to starve- wanted me to die so I couldn't curse them with my presence!" This is the most N has even spoken to Alder his entire stay. He's out of breath. "And even once I was able to leave the castle-- everywhere I went, I heard- heard stories of humans mistreating each other, mistreating others. Constantly. Everyone turns at some point. Do you expect me to stay around you, just waiting for the day you show your true colors? Waiting for you to use me?"

Alder falters a bit. His heart hurts, his anger wanes. But he did what he intended to do; he got N distracted.

"S-so I have to run. I need to escape from you people before it.. it's too.. late." N's voice tapers into a breathless whisper as he bumps into something behind him. They realize what just happened immediately, but they dont get time to react- they're restrained by a move from venomoth, which then uses sleep powder on them as they thrash and scream at Alder. N crumples to the ground after just a moment, and Alder trudges over to collect them.

Alder knows it was a dirty move. It was just a last resort to keep the man from tearing off further into the woods and causing even more of a disaster for both of them. "I'm sorry, son. Just.. rest, okay." He whispers. "I'm not going to let anyone else hurt you. You have my word." N probably doesn't even hear it, they're out like a light within moments. But Alder could see plain on N's face, as he rapidly faded from consciousness, the look of a man that is terrified and trapped and desperate, utterly hurt to his core. And his will to keep working with N is renewed.

N wakes up at home, finding themself uninjured and tucked into bed rather than waking up on a prison floor, much to their surprise. Alder's kept this whole thing under wraps, like he said he would try to. They have one more chance.

They are just mentions, but read at your own discretion. Also I am giving a warning that I am more a 3am vault track girlie here so don't be too shocked at the difference in scores.

Lavender Haze: This song has never clicked, I'm sorry. Like I just find it so uninteresting despite certain lines (particularly the arguably feminist ones) really having the potential to say something. 3/10.

Maroon: You're gonna hear this again before the end of this album, but anthem of 2022 me's life in a nutshell... really anthem of 2022 - mid 2024 me more than I'd like it to be. Also if you catch me singing this and singing "the rope is there. I gave up" instead of "the rubies that I gave up" don't correct me, I know; I just like my misheard lyrics more lmao. Anyway, I really like this song. 8/10.

Anti Hero: Listen, you may think as a The Archer girlie, this is my favourite from the album... but no. It is just very mid to me. I will give it that the narcissism line felt like the most relatable line for me until recently (when I healed more), but yeah, not something I actively seek out. 4/10.

Snow On The Beach: I'm using the more Lana version for this ranking because it's my preferred one. Lyrically I actually like the second verse, but as a whole the song just does not appeal to me. 4/10.

You're On Your Own Kid: We're ranking the standard album version here. This song having 'it's okay we're the best of friends anyway' and 'just to learn that you never cared' in the same verse did numbers on me when the song dropped out of relatability to a past situation ngl. Overall I don't think I love this song as much as everyone else, but I do like it a lot. 8/10.

Midnight Rain: So unless you're counting being in a local newspaper as fame, I've never been famous. But from the first listen, this song hit deep as a 'regrets over how my mental illness impacted how I treated relationships' song and it has haunted me since. Amazing song though. 8.5/10.

Question: A bop! A bop that has been too relatable since this album's release (as opposed to the past situation I originally tied it to), but a bop nonetheless. Also, it has unintentionally become queerer to me through me talking about Fortnight and making connections, which is lowkey funny because I am team 'this song is not and never was about Matty' whereas Fortnight clearly is. But yeah Fortnight is super queer to me so I guess this is now too lmao. 8.5/10.

Vigilante Shit: Let the record show that I did not need Taylor to show her ass to love this song. Like it's appreciated, but I loved it from the beginning. Remember when I said Maroon was 2022 me's most relatable song? Yeah so was this. So call me a cringey millennial all you want, but I will always love this song. 8.5/10.

Bejeweled: Eh, this is another mid song that never clicked for me, sorry. 4/10.

Labyrinth: This was my favourite song from the album... for the three hours before the 3am tracks came out. As a fellow formerly (as in over a decade ago now) suicidal girlie who got into a relationship that helped me change everything and turn it all around and love life again + who would always push through everything with a 'it's only this bad rn' attitude, Taylor ate with this one. Still praying for a mashup of this and The Alcott on tour, but I know it's likely not gonna happen. 9.5/10.

Karma: This is one of those songs that rarely hits (sorry, karma seems to have forgotten that it's my friend a lot over the years), but it's had its moments. I do like the remix just as much and would list that as my favourite music video of the album, but god do I wish Ice's verse didn't just like drop out like that. It sounds so awkward to me. The irony to all of that is that I actually would call it the centrepiece of the album; it's just not one I'm into. 5/10.

Sweet Nothing: We're ranking the Lavender version bonus track for this one. Much like Cowboy Like Me, I do appreciate that this song can be seen as a love song or a (heading towards) break up song, but it's just not something I'm drawn to most of the time. 6/10.

Mastermind: My grower of the album. Like I liked it well enough on first listen, but it's so catchy and fun and relatable. 8.5/10.

Hits Different: Again, I don't feel like I love this as much as everyone else, but I do like it. 8/10.

The Great War: My stan song of the album. It was my favourite from the first listen and to be honest, that has only grown with time; especially this year after a loved one of mine labelled it as one of their 'us' songs post them getting help for addiction issues that could have torn us apart. I know people are currently seeing the lyrics through a different lens due to what happened with Taylor and Joe, but yeah, it'll always be a purely love song for me. 10/10.

Bigger Than The Whole Sky: This song has had so many meanings for me, some of which I am not comfortable talking about yet/may never be, but god, what a song regardless. Much like Ronan and Soon You'll Get Better, I understand completely why people cannot rank this song, but I love it so much. Definitely a top 3 song from the album for me. 9.5/10.

Paris: What a cute song. No further thoughts past I really like it. 8.5/10.

High Infidelity: Again, I don't really have thoughts on this song past really liking it. Her singing it with Gorgeous for Eras was wild given everything though lmao. 8/10.

Glitch: I am a glitch lover. Nothing further to say: 8/10.

Would've Could've Should've: So I forgot to mention this during my Folklore post, but this song and My Tears Ricochet both came on while I was writing about my thoughts on my religious experiences a couple of years ago and god did they make me realise how much religion played a role in everything 15 - 17 year old (worst years of my life) me went through and I've never seen them the same since. I don't have much else to say about this song. Like I feel like everyone loves it, and I'm included in that lmao. It's just that good. 9/10.

Dear Reader: Do you know how much damage 'to a house not a home all alone because nobody's there' did to me, someone who was single at the time and who still is estranged from their family, on my first listen of this song? Like yeah.gif x100 tbh. Overall, as devastating and untrue (both to Taylor and I nowadays) this song is, I love it. I love that it's a trap (as per the first line), I love that it's brutally honest about the downsides of the parasocial relationship/idolisation of a person, I just love it all. 9/10.

You're Losing Me: The fact this song can just as easily be read as a mental illness or complacency/'he's just not that into you' song is one of its strengths. Like I think of one of two very different circumstances from my experiences whenever listening to this song purely based on my mood on that listen. I once thought about a Soon You'll Get Better/You're Losing Me mashup based on my experience and boy did that take me out just as much as a just say Haunted/You're Losing Me or Tolerate It/You're Losing Me mashup would; for very different reasons of course. In saying all of that, it's not a favourite of mine... which of course meant I got it as my surprise song for Eras lmao (I will say that I will always appreciate that I got to hear a song live the first time it was ever played though, because being Australian/at the end of most tours, that does not happen often), but it's alright. 6.5/10.

I used to LOVE project runway when i was younger! Kids are crazy! Sometimes it is wild how they cannot simply be kind or even understanding of others. My dumb son invited his friend over to stay with us for a couple days so now I'm hiding in my room. I have to pretend to be social and shit and it's the worst. I've barely recovered from my fam. I just want to be quiet and alone by myself 😭😭 No but tbh it's fine. I'm just dramatic. Cleaning was REALLY good actually. I've been trying to do some much needed stuff (like washing walls and baseboards. I made this ravioli dish that was really good. It was sort of alfredo-y and had spinach and sundried tomatoes. Honestly? I'm most excited to make these roasted veggies lol. Potatoes, carrots, zucchini hehehe

I liked the first few seasons of project runway but the premise got away from me (and the writers I think). I wish I got more into cooking shows. I do have a serious soft spot for Cake Boss tho 😂

I have this one student who said to me "she never gives up on me" and it honestly kind of melted my heart. She's a TOUGH kid. Like I'm lowkey afraid of her 😭😭 I'm glad she likes me because she's kinda cuckoo 🤣🤣 She has these massive angry blowups, not necessarily her fault because of mental health and undiagnosed ADHD but she doesn't always make the best decisions either. For some reason she listens to me. So I keep trying to help her even though she makes me INSANE. But the point of that was she's a mean girl tbh she struggles to stay out of drama (sometimes not her fault, but many times it is) anyway. She's a lot, can't wait for her to graduate.

An inner child grudge is like no other. I love it tbh. I have a grudge. My mom told me at like age 6 we hate Bank of America and I refuse to set foot in there lol so I totally get disliking the brand.

I can't say I'm surprised, we do send each other lengthy messages 😭 it would be a TIME if we met in person hahahahahaha we wouldn't stop talking for ages. It's CRAZY how there are no filler episodes and the seasons are SO short. So so so crazy.

OMG T W E L V E HOURS of zoom a week. That's so so long. I hope they give breaks. Honestly, this is going to sound super weird, but I think it's pretty cool that you didn't listen to your therapist about this. It's fairly low-stake and it's a lot but you have really good intentions of getting your classes done on time so you can be DONE and graduate. One of the things I'm worried about starting therapy is that I'll want to do it perfectly and I'll want my therapist to think I'm the best lol (can you tell I need it?) so I feel like I would be obligated to do EVERYTHING she tells me to (I want a she because I hate men most of the time lol) and I would overwhelm myself with that if that makes sense. So it's refreshing to know you don't have to listen to her; at least in this instant. Hopefully that all makes sense

One more week of summer school. They're going well. I'm worried some kids aren't going to pass. We offer some classes online and I'm concerned they aren't going to finish/pass. Which is so irritating. Because like, why show up for a month if you're not going to pass? I know there's deeper issues and more to it, but still. We make it PRETTY easy to pass...

Took quizzes late at night while waiting for the Thai tea to cool down bc I wanted to know his love language and MBTI.

I’ve been telling everyone I know his is physical touch and I was right. But I guessed the 2nd would be quality time. Wouldn’t have guessed it would be acts of service/words but I asked him which one means more and he said words… and I do see it. I found out from just this week alone that the things I say even as a joke can hurt him when I didn’t even mean it at all. And we wouldn’t have known if it went for WNRS.

But he was just singing random things and I ended up trying to learn to play a song on the piano for baby sis to kinda tune him out but also bc he said, “You make me nervous, I can’t come up with anything when you’re looking at me” so I stayed outside his room. But I asked him to record himself bc it’s me and I don’t wanna miss anything, but also bc he comes up with a couple of good lines that he forgets about while just free styling which is why I usually record when we’re on the phone. After 5 mins, he said, “I was actually writing that for you 😌” but he play too much so I just dismissed it. But he airdropped the video and I literally listened to it and thought wth.. does he have feelings? LOL. But nah.

After School - Virgin

Okay… Wow. Like, wow. I expected … I dunno, kinda shitty synthpop, something along the lines of Twicetagram? But it turns out First Love isn’t the exception to their sound: it’s actually a pretty good representation of what they can do. I really need to see the song average for my own sake, so let’s see:

Average score of 8.1 which is stupidly high compared to what I was expecting. But this album kind of shattered every expectation that I had for it. It was well-written, it was well-arranged, it kept me interested the whole way though. Raina impressed me, Nana and Lizzy did more of the Orange Caramel thing, the trainees blended in just fine. The MV was a bit weird but honestly kind of wholesome in the end.

And ultimately, this album really wanted me to look into more of their discography. Like, I keep coming back to the word “mature.” And when I say that, I don’t mean sexy: I mean mature. And this was just 2011! They existed for several years before and after this, with subunits and japanese releases and all of that. So I guess now I have so much more to look into.

Alright, I’ve just done some cursory Googling and already this album seems crazy. It’s got re-recorded versions of various singles, as well as some solo- and unit-songs. So really, less than half of this album is actually new, full-group content. But even more interesting, it features Kyung-Min, a “pre-school girl,” which is kind of a weird way of saying “trainee”. So I looked into it, and it seems like she won some sort of contest to become the newest member of After School, but she never actually debuted with the group! The only references to her are short, like a single sentence, so that’s kinda neat. Anyway, I heard Bang! one time like a year ago and I don’t remember a thing about it except that it was marching band themed.

but yea so anyways there are four main genders in orq'otish gerudo culture. vai and voe of course but then also voie and vei. voie is basically an umbrella term for any sort of polygender and vei is an umbrella term for any sort of agender. there just happen to be less voe but they're not disallowed.

also the gerudo clothing being revealing and ill suited to the weather is only a thing for wealthier ppl. bcuz they don't have to wander around in the fucking sand and heat and can lounge instead doing hashtag hot girl shit

I've seen other people do the vai/voe/vei/some different word thing too, so that's not a Shea Original™️ of course. Lowkey I didn't want gender divides to be a huge thing in Orq'otish Gerudo, so I just dropped that stuff in without much fanfare. Just "oh, your boss is a bit voe and vai? sort of voie then, cool, this is a normal gender expression to me, so anyways" and then one of Shenbar's friends being voe without some sort of record scratch Ganondorf moment.

Basically, my overall Gerudo gender headcanon is like...they just happen to have a different sex ratio and cultural perception of gender than Hylians are used to. It's not some magical thing I guess, and I don't like the implication that Hot Exotic Brown Women are obsessed with finding A White Hylian Man to reproduce with. So I'm just like, fuck it they have kids with each other. "Shea how does that work, don't you need a man and woman to be able to reproduce" nah I don't feel like doing that. They can do it just because. Most of the time their children are physically feminine, at least as perceived from a non-Gerudo perspective. (I also like Scopophobia-Polaris' interpretation that the Gerudo we see in OoT are part of a minority sect which places strong emphasis on strict gender roles, but that not every Gerudo is like that.)

And clothes headcanon!! While "harem pants" (ex: sarouels) and bandeaus still make appearances, I just imagine there's wider variety for both comfort and fashion. Like, less covering is fine in hot weather...if you get to vibe in shade a lot, you know? Otherwise you're gonna get burned to hell regardless of how much melanin you got. (Source: am brown and I used to occasionally hang out while half-dressed in hot arid climates). So in my mind, you'd see a lot more headscarves and shawls and loosely flowing linen rather than "BRA, PANTS, HEELS, DONE" in the working populace.

Uhhh what else. Oh "Gerudic". Just the word. Gerudic is the adjective and language rather than it all just being called Gerudo like in canon. Idk I like the distinction.

I'm still sorting out Sand Goddess headcanons. I don't think we've even seen depictions of her since TP? rip to a real girlboss. But I like her and think she should be a thing. So i guess the headcanon is that the Sand Goddess exists still lol.

Tldr: I don't like Nintendo's weird Gerudo vibes even though I also love the Gerudo because in my heart I am still a child pointing at the TV and saying "they're like me and they're cool desert warriors!"

Band genre is alternative / indie rock? / pop rock / rock (Think like IDKHOW, Joywave, Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana, etc.)

They aren't signed to any major record label (just a small one) and they'd be considered indie because of that but either way

Can play the piano (shoutout trey parker rq) but considering he never gets the chance to really play it, he kinda forgets it's something he can do LOL

He also knows the drums considering he knows how to play piano

Does a lot of the mixing and arrangement of the instrumentals and vocals. Is also a huge perfectionist on this, if something doesn't sound right he gets annoyed

Kyle is backup vocals for certain tracks, and if Stan thinks Kyle didn't sing a note correctly (or rather he knows), he makes Kyle re sing the verse LMAO

Is proud of his music and wants things to be perfect

Will stay up until 4am on writing lyrics. He's not a coffee drinker in my opinion so how he manages to stay up is a mystery (the 6 energy drinks behind him is how)

I feel like, he sounds sort've like a mix of Mitchel Cave (main singer of Chase Atlantic), and Riovaz.

His inspirational genres for his music would be pop rock, indie/alternative rock, and death metal (not too often, but throwin this curve ball in here since.. he DID form a death metal band in s23)

However he does like non rock genres like r&b and alternative pop, only because Kyle tends to listen to those genres a lot and it's rubbed off on him (and the genres are a vibe).

Taught Clyde the drums since freshman year of high school (I'll mention this more later on in Clyde's part)

He was actually the one who brought up the idea of a band (hence him being the manager), only because he was bored and figured "hey.. a small local band might be kinda fun to do!" and then the band got popular and now hes like "wtf"

Now despite Kyle looking more like he'd be a tenor, he's got a baritone singing voice (basing this off the fact he was the bass in s21 ep5)

Can actually play a few instruments (shout out matt stone rq), i.e guitar (both electric and acoustic) and the drums (he seems like a band kid percussionist too anyways)

He didn't want to play instruments in the band though and would rather not be in the limelight.

However he is attributed in a few songs because a) backup vocals, b) is a backup guitarist c) has been the stand in drummer when Clyde is sick.

Is a fan of alternative rock, alternative/indie pop, r&b, and occasionally rap (he's a fan of lil uzi i just know it)

Helps Stan with writing song lyrics, but can't write lyrics for shit so he just summarizes his thoughts and gives it to Stan so he can write lyrics out of it

Is a wonderful manager actually, keeps the band booked and busy.

Not kidding, if something needs to be replaced, Kyle's on it. If they need a gig soon, Kyle's on it. If someone's sick (CLYDE.), Kyle's on it. If they need a few touring members, Kyle's on it. The band seriously would not function properly if Kyle wasn't there to help them with it all (he reminds them CONSTANTLY of this)

Knows the band's dynamics the best, if someone starts getting agitated with someone else, Kyle's helping mediate the entire situation.

Learnt drums through out high school from Stan and Kyle because he thought he'd impress people and get dates easier LMFAOO

When Kyle thought of the band idea in their last year of high school, Clyde immediately wanted to join (and hey he knows drums so yeah it works)

Gets overly excited during practices and causes a lot of accidents that it's gotten to the point where Kyle has a "___ days since Clyde caused any incidents", it's at zero.

Likes watching Stan do the mixing and wants to learn but would rather eat his own foot than ask Stan to show him how.

Helped out Kyle with managing the band at the beginning that it caused some in team confusion on whether or not they should switch roles

Doesn't use the fact he's in a band to impress people he's attracted to anymore because the band's popularity grew.

He does interact with his fans the most though, often hosting instagram lives or he's the longest to stay out on stage to talk to the fans before they end a show.

He loves meeting fans of him or the band out in the street and is never mad about being asked to take pictures or get an autograph. Easily the most approachable one of the band

He's actually really grateful to the band and to the fans but finds himself unable to fully express it into words.

Likes to show off his skills when Stan calls out introductions of the band during their songs at concerts(idk some band concerts ive been to stall the instrumental part between the chorus and the verses to do introductions ? do you guys know what i mean 😭)

Gets his fans to attack Craig and Tolkien sometimes, like he'll joke around on twitter with the two of them a lot just to be like "guys don't be mean to me wtf" and his fans come to his aid all the time.

Kyle knew she played the guitar from band days together. (Jazz band..)

So he took a shot and asked if she wanted to join their band and she agreed!!

Is the second easily approachable member of the band and is always so excited to meet fans and talk to them.

Has played guitar for so long that she can manage to do the guitar talking rifts (Like the segment of the talking guitar in Yankee Rose) and does it to talk to the fans sometimes

Loves writing song lyrics so she sits together with Stan a lot so they can figure out albums, eps, and singles together.

Some songs are solely written by her too.

They both rarely get into writers block because they constantly bounce ideas off each other

They like story telling through their songs, so the albums often have a small story line to them.

Also provides a small backup vocal segments in certain songs, but isn't a fan of singing (in front of a lot of people at least). She's gotten more confident but would rather let Stan and or Kyle handle the vocals

Likes stage decor and setting up what goes where. Kyle lets her manage that part of his job (the whole stage designing thing) and she's super good at it too. The stage at concerts are always set up beautifully.

Has three electric guitars that she switches out through out the course of concerts, a chrome iridescent one (which happens to be her main choice), a white pale green one, and a dark sage green one.

She also has a red heart shaped electric guitar but considering it's awkward to hold she doesn't play it that often.

Also has a ukulele. Brings it with her to concerts to do a small ukulele section.

Let’s start with the date of posting which 3/29, out of all the days he could have shared this, why now? They usually go for Thursdays but not this one. We think it’s a late 3/28 gift, that day is Wuji recording and also when WYB came home from his Rome trip. What a nice coincidence, cause the vlog posted had Rome in it too. These two are really so particular with dates! I can’t. 🥹🥹🥹🥹

1. One thing that stood out to me was when he was looking at a design book. He was talking about designing typeface and letter, and how there are different formations in writing or presenting them. I don’t think that it was ever CPN that he likes to play with letters/ characters to give a different meaning. or to hide something. think : yibo’s motorcyle suit. this just confirms that.

2. The way he was eating the lollipop and his pose is so WANG YIBO. I’m sorry, but that’s the first thing that came to mind. Yibo and his oral fixation is real and we see it on SDC most of the time. 😂 They really mirror each other’s habits now and do certain things that make you go “wait… that’s totally xx behavior and not his..”

people are wondering if they saw the fanart of them eating 🍭 at some point and copied it unconsciously.

3. The element of romance in this vlog makes me wanna scream! honestly. Sure, you can argue that the place ( especially paris ) is romantic or that he is doing fan service to the viewers — like, you’re in a romantic weekend with me in Paris. Yeah. Sure. that’s a plausible explanation. but for a clown like me, the elements seem deliberate.

Next is JVKE’s golden hour. This one has more 👀 lyrics. The whole “golden” and “see you shine” just screams his love for anything about the sun. the sun and his sunflower ☀️ and the mention of summer.

I also don’t really buy it when people say “he doesn’t understand the lyrics, don’t think to much..” i mean. are you really lowkey insulting him at this point? he may not know like the details, but i’m pretty sure he understands the general meaning. and like, it’s not that hard to understand english words. come on.

The style for the intros were also reminiscent of the movie Roman Holiday. Maybe they looked up a movie and watched it. but anyway, the story of this is also a romantic movie.

4. He wore a long wooyoungmi coat which I talked about here. So looks like that’s where the paper bag was from? but if he already wore it, why bring the bag like that? it’s not that precious of a cargo to hand carry anyway. i’m still eating the candy.

6. How he was trying to ride the scooter makes me soft. I feel like the influence of riding things like this ( and even the hoverboard he owns ) is from WYB. 🥹 He can’t do motorcycles, but he is willing to try everything else. The whole image of him riding it reminds us of the loyiboard character design too!

7. When you see what’s on screen during the 2:28 timestamp, it’s a dog. Lol. thinking of your puppy back home? There are also two other shots where a dog is there, but not as deliberate as this one.

I love how he is encouraging people, in a way, to get out there. which was always his message to fans, to have time to go outside and build themselves up. Don’t spend too much time online. Also the bit about feel free to do what you want. I really hope he gets to do that more. I hope he gets to make choices that lean more towards the things he wants. 💕
