Genshin Neurodivergent Headcanons!

Note: Most of the hcs I have are ADHD related! I know that there's a lot more to neurodivergency than just ADHD, however as someone with ADHD myself I tend to base hcs off on my own experiences and projections lol so if you were wondering this is why

Anyway on with the hcs!

Venti: ADHD

He is. So full of love. He loves deeply and wholeheartedly and cares so damn much be it romantic or platonic attraction (adhd making your feelings feel so big they'll burst right out of your chest)

I think they used to be a lot more emotional back when they first became a god (he's far from stoic and still super expressive now, but he keeps his true emotions under lock and key)

the NB and the Old Mond Gang taught him to love and care and fight for freedom, but they weren't used to the sheer intensity of human emotion (emotional disregulation go brrrr)

holds strong to his ideals and beliefs

the wind is constantly blowing and venti is constantly moving

tons of dopamine from music fr

Coming up with sick rhymes is really mentally stimulating

fast paced brain + 2.6k years worth of experience is how he comes up with new songs and rhymes so fast

Good with words but can get rambly and a bit long winded (not as long winded as ZL tho)

He would do the stimming hand flaps he absolutely would

wing flap stims in archon form too

vocal stims this guy thrills like a bird and makes wind chime noises

hates the texture of cheese specifically but I don't think he says much about the actual taste?? kinda like me with tuna so sensory sensitivity???? (I love cheese tho)

despite being my most brainrotted character I don't have too much in game evidence for ADHD Venti lol it's all vibes

also he's my comfort character so they're just like me fr (and that includes the they/them pronouns)

Yoimiya: ADHD

Easily excited and feels deeply and wholeheartedly (adhd dials feelings up to 100 and that includes the positive ones)

She talks a lot, runs on sentences and sometimes doesn't even realise that she's doing it, changes topics a ton

talkativeness is a way that adhd can manifest and it's one of the ways it shows up in me

her vibes and how she talks reminded me a lot of myself and I got attached (she's just like me fr)

hyperfixates on fireworks don't @ me

Man I sure am lucky I hyperfixated on my family business and never stopped

the colourful lights of the fireworks are a visual stim for her

vocal stims and echolalia

the latter happens a lot when she's hanging around kids bc I do it with little sister

Albedo: ADHD + Autism

only puts in effort and excels in shit that interests him

hyperfixates on art and alchemy he's my inattentive adhd bestie

absolutely twice exceptional (gifted + neurodivergent)

Sucrose: ADHD + Anxiety

lost her friends before. I'm a bit luckier in this aspect I think, but a lot of adhd peeps have a hard time making and keeping friends

Past rejections have affected how she views herself and her relationships

RSD from both the anxiety and ADHD god help her

This sense of guilt for bothering people just by talking to them even though she knows logically that that's not how it works (aqua your projection is showing-)

Particularly prone to overstimulation by noise because of her enhanced hearing

Alchemy hyperfixation. Specifically bioalchemy and sweet flower modifications

He stumbled back as if the booming phrase had pushed him. He struggled to stop himself from falling over, grasping desperately at the nearest object. Stabling himself, the words echoed through his ears, only challenged by the thud of his heartbeat pounding wildly in his chest. 

Sorry… wasn't good enough. He had messed up, really messed up.

He dug through his mind, trying to find a response. There wasn't anything left for him to say. Gundham knew he would only worsen the situation with any rebuttal. It didn't matter; if he were to try and say anything, he knew the words would stick on the inside of his throat. His justifications glued down like a rat in a trap. 

The guilt set in. Gundham tightened his hands into white-knuckled fists, sharp nails settling into the skin beneath. Maybe he shouldn't have put himself out there in the first place. Vulnerability is a side effect of devotion, after all.  

He felt better alone. Solitude left no possibility to disappoint anyone other than himself. That way he wouldn't have to feel the crushing disapproval that rattled through his bones, the hurricane roaring through his stomach, the resentment towards himself that destroyed him every time. Gundham wouldn't have to feel this.

Weak legs carried him to the exit of the room. steadying himself, he stammered. "I.. will excuse myself."

like for example

one sunny afternoon you two were on a date

it was one of the rare days he gets off from his harbinger duties

and he decided to take you to starsnatch cliff, in mondstatd

a bit far but he wanted to show you the cecilias because you’ve never been to an area where they naturally grow

so you’re walking with him, stopping to look at mondstatd’s natural life 

when suddenly you stumble upon a drunk 

you don’t know why someone would be all the way out here

drunk of all things

but suddenly they’re reaching for you and you back away 

basically they’re catcalling you so you make your way back to scara

unaware that the drunken man has followed you 

as you kneel down to pick another flower he tries to pull you back with the arm

you let out a yelp in surprise 

scaramouche turns, how dare this scum even touch you, he will make sure this man never sees the light of-

surprisingly, you start to laugh

scara is taken aback for a few seconds and then grins 

there it is

the man is also shocked, staggering 

“did you really think you were actually going to get away with that?” 

in a second you’ve grabbed his arm and are holding it against his back 

“go on. continue. what were you about to say to me?” 

he stutters on his words

“that’s what i thought.” you let him go and push his chest so he falls on the floor

“don’t let me catch you near me ever again. that’s a promise”

the look in your eyes terrifies him to his core 

the man runs for the hills in the opposite direction and you turn back to scara

meanwhile your boyfriend is just looking on with a shocked smile

he’s not one to simp on main

but he thought that was lowkey hot ngl 

“ah, y/n.” he laughs and places a hand on your waist 

“do that again for me sometime darling, hm?” 

of course as soon as you’re facing him your shy demeanor comes back with a vengeance 

your face turns beet red, his words the source of your flustered expression  

he loves how you go from deadly to absolutely adorable in seconds

although ofc you like to fluster him too 

he might start blushing just from you offering him a homecooked meal with that beautiful smile of yours 

or if you’re near him while he’s battling someone

his intention was to get you as far away as possible

but his opponent had caught him off guard and had him cornered

with a swift kick of your feet, scara’s enemy is on the floor, shirt pinned at the tip of your sword 

“run. now.” 

as soon as they’re gone you’ve knelt on the ground near scara, who sat in shock as he watched you body them 

“are you okay? are you injured anywhere? do you need me to heal you-” 

you’re cut off by him kissing you 

you break apart and stare at him

in his head hes like haha i kissed them speechless

and then you just-

KEEP ON BANDAGING HIS WOUNDS

like usually he would think it’s nice

Okay so I saw Baal Anon (I love their analysis asks btw!!) talk about their Primo Plans™ so I thought I might as well share mine (even if they're more like wishes at this point lol)

I got guaranteed promoted 5* on my next 5* I pull, and I'm 1 wish into pity (not a lot but Diluc)

I'm praying to the god of gacha or whatever that Xiao DOES get a Moonchase rerun, because then I'll guaranteed get him (I will. Just you watch me. I'll sell my kidney if I gotta. Or Mihoyo's kidney because they didn't give me all the SEELIES and I'm SALTY). If I do, I'll roll for his spear because like come on, pls, it's so good and the boy deserves the best!! Currently I have 41 wishes saved up and I've only been saving since I got Ayaka, I still have Welkin for ~a month so that plus commissions is almost one wish a day, which I do my best to bump up to at least a wish per day via chests, achievements ect. I doubt I can keep that up when school starts next week though.

After Xiao rerun I hope they don't have anyone too tempting for my poor impulsive gremlin brain, because I'd like to save up for Zhongli and/or Venti, whenever/if those idiots get a rerun, and my dream is also getting Zhongli's spear but man do I doubt it.

In terms of 4*... Oh man. I want. So many. Rosaria kept dodging my wishes when she was up, but now I got C4 Razor (who I don't use) and C5 Bennett (damn am I glad it's not C6). I really want Sayu but... Xiao... and also I don't wanna get Xinyan, no disrespect or anything I just don't use her at all. Gorou is tempting not because I like bow users (I don't) but because I like HIM, HE'S MY SON (They all are. My children that is.). Thoma is also tempting, and hmmm Xingqui Constellation I want. Maybe I can even bump up my C4 Beidou (my beloved) to C6 some day... I'm 100% forgetting more 4* I'd like but I'm sleep deprived so I cannot think rn (insomnia go brrrr- )

Anyways Gacha may or may not be my way into a fucking gambling addiction, who knows, not me!

i just need like seven more wishes for guaranteed whoever-i-pull-for-next (which is GOING to be xiao, i swear it). i actually haven't thought about getting xiao's weapon because i want enough gems for guaranteed albedo as well, whenever he comes, but you know what, i don't think i have any good polearms............ (favonius lance is my best and it's on zhong)

but see, i was looking at a character building guide and it suggests pairing xiao with another anemo character like sucrose. and sucrose is LITERALLY the only four star (not including inazuma characters) that i don't have and it makes me mad.

fun fact i actually used to dislike sucrose for various reasons (yall can ask if you want me to tell the story, it's just a bit off-topic here) but i did a complete 180 on her, especially since mihoyo buffed swirl. and i just really hope that when i eventually pull for xiao, i'll get sucrose as well ;;;

also, please do not develop a gambling addiction (and pls sleep 😭)

Also, whilst I am tempted to change to Angst Anon, Olympic Anon just has that nostalgia attached to it, you know?

Besides that, I promised Headcanons (read: World Building, I became obsessed. help) and I shall deliver. Sorry for taking so long!!!

I actually had to redraft this ask multiple times because it got too rambly so please ask me to clarify if I leave something out!

So first up: Diluc, though it takes a bit for everything to peak like this, becomes a shut-in. Which seems odd because the Diluc we know probably wouldn’t do that because, spoilers for his story by the way, goes on a trip after Crepus died.

But that quickly explains itself because he went on that trip to figure out what caused his fathers death. He was still operating on the ‘justice or whatever’ belief his father had, so he couldn’t waste time being sad, right?

BUT! He accidentally killed Kaeya! So it's hypocritical of him to be all Justice after killing an innocent.

He’d probably be so messed up after this thing because… murder. And so with the knowledge that he failed horribly in trying to protect the people, he’s just gonna disappear. For a few years.

And that also leads into a separate idea, what everyone thought caused the Ragnavirs to just blip out of existence. Crepus? Passed away. Kaeya? Also dead. And Diluc pulling away from the outside world probably didn’t help the rumors about someone that was out to get the family. So everyone kinda just assumes the worst and after a bit, and keeps it moving. This is a surprise tool that will assist us later, in phase 2.

So anyway Aether comes along, briefly sees Venti, and after briefly forgetting that he need to head to Mondstat, climbs up the nearest mountain, which is important because this allows him to see the Dawn Winery in the distance, and delays- or possibly even cancels- the meeting with Amber.

I’m leaning on cancelling it so I can avoid the Knights as much as possible, haha… who knew killing off a character could have ✨consequences✨

Anyway, Aether gets into town, learns a bit about everything, etc… After determining that he’ll need to dig a bit deeper into Mondstat later to figure out the next steps, he finally decides to explore a bit, remembering about the Dawn Winery.

Takes a bit to get there, but does standard ‘Ooo new area’ things: Exploring the area, learning new things… then he talks to one of the maids there. Finds a bit about Diluc, and how none of the maids have seen him in a few years- specifically, after Kaeya’s funeral. Said maid realizes they said too much, and peace’s out.

Even more curious about what they meant, he looks around a bit, and I think I’ve already rambled enough, so the short version is: He finds Diluc’s room, finds it’s not locked, and peeks his head in, Diluc is asleep (Aether assumes) so Aether leaves.

Anyways, a bit more exploring and finding Mora in a few chests, Aether goes back to Mondstat to notice a Glider on sale (Totally not conveniently placed or anything ahaha). With a quick explanation from Paimon about what it is, he buys it with the found money.

And, conveniently, Stormterror decides to tear it up. So anyways-

(DISCLAIMER: these are just my opinions and you are totally allowed to disagree!)

recluse diluc actually makes a lot of sense if he were to accidentally kill kaeya (oh god i hope that NEVER canonly happens :<) people deal with grief in many different ways, healthy or not, but from what we've observed with diluc he's quick to go and seek answers for everything himself. but in the story you described, the answer to his grief isn't on some adventure hunting down fatui, it's in kaeya's invisible blood that he can't wash off of his hands no matter what (like lady macbeth :P)

so with that, the idea of him becoming a recluse in this timeline makes perfect sense given that he'd be stuck in a single moment reliving it forever and ever and letting the guilt eat away at him. if there's one thing we know about pryo users, its that they express their emotions vividly and openly. diluc doesn't exactly express his emotions outwardly like say benny or yoimiya but his emotions seem to manifest in the form of inner thoughts (and given that he accidentally killed kaeya, he might have intrusive thoughts about the matter)

I know right?! Venti is just so... idk adorable? friendly? I don’t know how to put it but it’s definitely good vibes that he radiates and I would like to hang with him.

I wouldn’t mind playing Genshin Impact, hell it looks like fun and I really want to get into playing video games again.

However my ultimate problem with it it that it is a Gacha Game. It’s essentially Lootboxing, just under a different name and luck based apparently. And from what I’ve been reading is that it’s makes you pay money to get rare five star characters/weapons and that’s what ultimately worries more. Yes it’s a way to make money and it’s a miracle that the game is Free-to-Play, but ultimately the idea of buying stuff in-game that has a low chance of getting anyways is scummy.

Maybe it’s because my country of Australia has such strict Consumer Laws, and that the ACCC is notoriously amazing for their crackdown on many, many, many video game lawsuits, court dismissals and their dedication for protecting Consumer Rights overall. I know it’s a free to play game but honestly any game that breaches Australian Consumer Law will be targeted without question.

Now I am aware that you CAN play the game without having to pay but it’s that FOMO effect that draws people into burning their wallets. It doesn’t really help that the gambling industry is BIG in my country (However it has been under-fire in recent years especially with accusations of money laundering and other criminal activities). I get you have to monetize the game somehow but... personally I find the idea of paying ABSURD amounts of money for a rare character is just wrong to me. I get it’s gonna be there regardless but it’s just... idk unfair? And also unintentionally predatory on people who are trying to recover from gambling addictions.

Also I’ve heard recently that some people’s accounts are getting hacked and compromised and honestly as someone who is cautious about my security, I think it would be best to wait out a little. I usually do two factor authentication but hearing this is really worrying.

Don’t get me wrong I actually would love to play the game! It seems like a lot of fun and I think the art style is really cute! It’s just that the things surrounding it are turning me away from playing it. But if I do, I’d be more than happy to do co-op, plus the fact that it supports cross-platform play is kinda amazing.

Again all of these are my mixed feelings and maybe I might not play it at all. If people love the game and want to spend money on it too, then that’s their choice but it’s the amount and frequency I worry about. Hopefully they realise this a put a limit on how many things you can buy within x amount of days as to steer away people from gambling or perhaps - and this is a BIG IF - that they DROP the whole Gacha thing entirely and just have the rare characters be unlockable/achieved by doing certain things or quests or having to meet certain requirements.

But that’s enough of me rambling. Don’t let my opinions let you and others, and particularly fans from preventing you from playing the game. If it makes you happy that’s great! It’s just that I find the circumstances surrounding Genshin Impact to weigh it down from being something good or even great. But who knows, things can change and maybe they do alter it entirely, you never really know tbh and with the amount of updates and new characters coming out I think that’s a decent possibility.

Same same, I had the “Venti constellations” conversation with my bf and our friend last night, and the conversation went something like this:

Friend: I wouldn’t recommend it, because working on Venti’s constellations would make him more like Sucrose, and you already have Sucrose.

Me: I do have Sucrose.

Bf: Okay but.....Venti flex.

Me: owo...yeah...Venti flex...

Friend: That’s certainly an option, but I assure you that I have C2 Venti and he was already quite powerful at C0.

Me: It’s also hard to get more Ventis anyway.

Bf: Venti C0 is already good enough, but C6 Venti go brrrrr..

Friend: [reluctantly] Venti does go brrrr..

Granted our friend here has been playing for a long time, I think two days after the initial release. He knows what’s up. My bf knows me and knows that I attach myself to specific characters. So like, they both sway me easily.
