🐛 & ☘ for the ask game >:) (i think it was a 3 leaf clover...) {ps hello !!!!!!! waves excitedly. i finally entered your inbox :3}
☘ - What aspect of life does your kin identity affect you the most?
Honestly, my thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and opinions are largely affected by my Ashley Graves permashift. And there's definitely the fact that a lot of my interests probably exist because they were my past lives interests. So, like... yeah. Anyway, my permashift is the one that affects me the most.
🐛 - How do you feel about fanart and fanfictions of you?
Oh boy... this one has many different answers for my kins soooooo again, I'll put them under the cut:
Ashley Graves: I love the fan art, bun the fanfiction I don't like unless they are made by other tCoAaL kins and fictives. Because fans never get me correct.
Athena: Honestly all of my sources are just fanart and fanfiction that stem from Greek Mythology, so I don't care. I love them.
Colin: Nope. I may reblog some art every once in a while but just... nooooo nope nope nope. I actually do not like the fandom. They treat me soooo weird.
Cyn: [Giggle] I love it it. They get me so-o well.
Em: 1 4M 4 M1NECR4FT 0C, 1 D0 N0T H4VE 4NY.
Emberlynn Pinkle: I LOVE IT!! Oh my satan... I wrote so much fanfiction about my favorite characters in media and the fact that people do it to ME? I'm honored beyond relief.
GLaDOS: Hmmm... to be honest it is quite nice to be recognized, but... seeing humanoid versions of me instead of just being attached to the ceiling is... interesting to say the least. Not really my cup of tea.
Gwendolyn Poole: Holy crap, I love it! God- I wish more people would draw me or write about me.
Kimiko 5 Tails: I do love it. I'm surprised by how a lot of people make me being a playful, silly protector rather than a serious one because that's how I was in my canon. But that doesn't mean I didn't take the job of protecting seriously.
Lillie Aether: Yes, I like it... except for the weird ones... I was 11 for Arceus sake...
Linkle: This is a really double edged sword because like, I don't actually exist. I'm transfem Link of the Era of Calamity. So, I don't have fanart or fanfics. Well, except for 2 fanarts. Yep, only 2 have ever existed of ME where I'm not just Linkle from Hyrule Warriors slapped into the world with Link as my own separate character. I have those saved on my phone. :3
Moana: haven't really looked into it, so...
Nezuko Kamado: Same thing as with Lillie except with the phrase "I was 14 for heavens sake"
Pride/Selim Bradley: Eh, I don't care. (actually does care and loves it)
Red: Well, the fact I'm can divergent from the Little Red Riding Hood story/fairytale is uh... kinda hard to find anything. The closest thing is ABC's "Once Upon a Time"'s version of Red.
Sarah Miller: People draw/write about me!?
The Titan: It's pretty neat if I come across something about me. But I especially "loaf" the ones about my son and me hanging out. Haha. <3

"I don't like these right wing and pedo creators! But I'll make content about them if one of my alters wants to."
.... So your alters like them? But they're part of you...?
Ngl I can't help but think you're a troll.
"my alters are mods!" Troll
*copypasta pinned* troll
*claims to dislike things that are often criticized by the queer community but then admits they don't* troll
"my alters all use neo pronouns and are cartoon characters" troll
"I'm supposedly in my 20s but my blog is definitely run by a teenager" TROLL
What's your actual point here? Mocking mogai identities? Mocking plural adults by acting like a kid on tiktok?
Even if you're legit,see a therapist.
Before i start: i know this is bait. I was tempted not to answer it but i am going to anyways.
We are critical of what we consume and we do not support creators who have done genuinely problametic things, we say that our headmates* can create source based content because
A: headmates are their own people, own thoughts, own beings. They may be apart of me but they are their own people. I know you're an anti endo because i see heavy anti endos ignore this fact, y'all treat headmates and other headmates as if they're just some part of you and not their own person ( which can be genuinely true for some systems and is valid ).
B. We do not make money making icons, moodboards, stimboards or genders. If you were so smart as you try to claim to be you would remember that Headmates can be sourced from anything and that its usually and mainly not in control of who and what they split from.
I didn't realize i had a copy pasta? I have no idea what you're talking about, genuinely. Again i don't know what you're talking about by "claims to dislike things that are often criticized by the queer community but then admits they don't". Sorry, if you're trying to correct or dismiss me throwing something random at me and not actually explaining isn't going to help anyone.
"My headmates* use neo pronouns and are cartoon characters" once again you're just showing how uneducated you are.
Headmates can split and be whatever. Its usually not in anyones control. Its not in my system's control of who we split.
But on top of ALL of that, Mx know it all, those "characters" aren't even our sources. This may be shocking to you but unlike some people we do care about internet safety, so no, I'm not revealing our real sources, not that you would care anyways since you can't even bother to use a simple block button.
We are bodily adult, but for safety reasons i don't say our exact age.
You want me to be some big bad troll and yet you're the only one here trolling and projecting. You're literally a coward on anon who couldn't even bother to show their face.
I am not here to mock mogai identities and i genuinely hate tiktok.
And lastly, "see a therapist". See anon, not everyone has a job or money because they're disabled and also the world is hard. If anyone here should do anything, you should get off the internet and go find some peace instead of being so angry and projecting on strangers on the internet.
If i have done something to hurt the community then I'll genuinely try to make up for it, all you have to do is try to communicate with me like an adult.
Also we do prefer the term headmates, not alters. Do be more polite, won't you?
Have a nice day and happy holidays anon.

I’m I the only one who finds it alarming that most of this fandom who ship Imogen and Laudna (especially on twitter) don’t realize the unhealthyness thats going on in their relationship? They literally see two women to are affectionate with each other and say “ENDGAME!” “GIRLFRIENDS!” “MARRIED!” “KISS KISS KISS!” Then they focus on quotes that are kinda alarming, and Imogen’s Jealousy is pretty fucking Alarming! Saying that they are in love and just haven’t realized it yet. (Don’t get me started on that one blog on here counting down the days “till imodna realizes their in love.” I find it so fucking annoying.) Loving someone and being IN love with someone is two different things. Also another thing! I HATE THAT PEOPLE CALL THEM LESBIANS! THE BOTH HAVE EXPRESSED FEELINGS FOR MALE PERSENTING PEOPLE! I dread the day when the campaign ends and they don’t end up together or during the campaign fall IN love with someone that’s not each other. Especially if it’s a male persenting person, because the Laura and Marisha will be harassed and the shippers will yell Queerbait, also the men hating/haters will be in full force. ïżŒ
Hi anon,
I agree with most of this; I'm answering under a cut in the hopes that people who will be upset by an answer will be able to avoid it, without me having to explicitly discourse tag it and in doing so throw it to people who troll that tag to get mad at things. Also this is SUPER long and covers a lot of the thoughts I've had percolating on the CR fandom/shipping culture in general.
I think I and a lot of people who primarily deal in meta/analysis in this fandom have been inching ever closer to a lot of the points you've made here, and I am generally very willing to be the one who snaps and says "yeah has anyone noticed the emperor has literally no clothes on like what the fuck".
Let's start with the end and work backwards: It's happened before, it will happen again if Laura and Marisha's characters do not get together, and it's irritating, but like, I will take a good story and the consequences of a shitty segment of the fandom rather than the path of least resistance every time. I almost said something to this effect on the positive vibes ask last night, but like...there will always be people who are hateful and stupid on the internet, so you may as well stand in your own truth rather than fear their consequences. (Not that I don't respect the choice to quietly avoid harassment; I am the way I am because I know at this point I can take a pretty hard hit and shut it down, but that has not always been the case.) Anyway, people called an actual canon ship between lesbian characters queerbaiting last campaign, so it's not like those accusations hold any weight or need to be taken seriously; outside of their tiny circle, everyone thinks those people are idiots.
I do, as a bi woman, hate the tendency among hardcore shippers to erase bisexuality. They do it because a bi character's competing ships cannot be as easily dismissed as 'obviously can't happen, they're gay or lesbian', and they don't care how biphobic they look doing it. You are absolutely correct: Imogen and Laudna have both indicated interest in men or masc nb people. (Others have also pointed out that people tend to exclusively use he/him pronouns about Ashton when they are being critical of them, so they don't care how transphobic they look doing it either, apparently; also I don't think Ashton identifies as a he/they lesbian but there are in fact people who do identify as such so like...if your goal is to eliminate Ashton/Laudna as an option by saying Laudna is a lesbian, against all evidence to the contrary, you also need to make a number of presumptions about Ashton's sexuality and gender identity as well.)
This brings me to a tricky section about fandom in general but I think it's worth saying. In the real world, homophobia and transphobia are very real. They negatively impact our lives in heartbreaking and deadly ways. It is still the norm in most US media for the bulk of relationships shown to be between a cis man and a cis woman, and for protagonists to be cis and straight (note: also often able-bodied, male, white, etc but the focus of this discussion is queerness so I'm not covering all axes of oppression). However, in many fandom spaces, queer characters and ships are the fan favorites. Tumblr's userbase does skew heavily queer, and additionally, tends to skew towards women. In other words, a lot of things that are very true in real life do not hold in fandom spaces.
Which is to say: we're in a situation where an F/F ship is the massive juggernaut for the fandom right now. It does not mean that lesbians (or bi women who enter into relationships with other women) are not oppressed in the real world; it does mean that within the highly specific space of the Critical Role fandom, people are more likely to be in favor of this ship than not. It also means that a lot of the people who aren't into it are not homophobes, but are queer people - often even wlw - who are saying "I would like F/F ships! I would like them to actually be good." Like, to me, the only difference between Imogen and Laudna and every M/F canon relationship on network TV that's made me go "you're telling me they should be together, but I don't see it" is that they're both women (and I would bet a large sum that for a lot of people, this isn't about the dynamic, but purely about the gender of the people involved, ie, if Imogen were a man played by one of the men in the cast people wouldn't ship it, where as I personally can comfortably say I'd ship any of the canon ships from past campaigns regardless of character gender. This also admits that biological essentialism is fake and that Exandria is pretty gender equalthough, which some people don't want to do.)
Part of why I've been so frustrated is that, at least from my perspective, the overwhelming majority of hate and harassment I've seen within the fandom in Campaign 3 - and in Campaign 2 - has been from people who have shipped Marisha and Laura's characters. There has, in fact, been pretty considerable hate as well as measured criticism levied towards M/F ships (we're seeing some with Ashton/Laudna here, but both Fjord/Jester and Caleb/Jester, the latter of which I actively dislike and have openly criticized, received pretty vehement hate last campaign and most of it came from people who shipped Jester with Beau) and M/M ships (less harassment per se but people who shipped Caleb with Jester said some truly awful things about Caleb/Essek; also while I have not, you know, harassed people, I have said essentially the same things about how Taliesin and Liam's characters are shipped every campaign despite often having little connection as I have about Marisha and Laura's. I just don't talk about it as much because while I think and have said that Ashton/Orym is basically nothing - and that Widomauk, which most people vaguely classify as M/M, and for that matter, Percy/Vax, all are basically nothing - no one who ships those has called me a cunt or reblogged my posts in an abusive manner or called me out for the grave sin of preferring canon to fanon, so I respect the ship and let ship of it all.) For that matter, the bulk of hate towards Beauyasha came from people who shipped Beau and Jester. Like...I am confident there are people who dislike this ship specifically because it's between two women, and they are homophobic, but that is not the quarter where I think most of the criticism on Tumblr or Twitter is coming from.
So let's get to the last point. Why do people ship two women simply because they're standing next to each other? Why do they ignore countless red flags - and I am specifically talking about treating Imogen and Laudna's relationship as healthy and loving; not about shipping it in general. I cannot stress enough that if you treat Imogen/Laudna as some kind of toxic Briarwoods situation and are into that, I support that entirely.
There are a few reasons. First and foremost, I think a lot of people project onto characters rather than letting the characters provide them with differing perspectives. I find this deeply sad. It's not that you can't draw parallels between your own life and that of fictional characters or see yourself in them - you're supposed to! But it says something depressing about your empathy if your qualifications for which characters speak to you are only those who match your demographics. Like, I've said before, but my favorite characters from past campaigns are Vex and Fjord, and they have a lot in common! If you relate to one based on their themes of Who You Are In The Dark and the mask you present to the world over a face you don't particularly like, you will probably relate to the other! But also...I am a cis bi woman, I am not a person of color as both those characters are often considered coded to be (though am an ethnic minority), nor did I personally experience extensive emotional abuse and poverty as a child. I think there's value in wanting to see people like you! But also...representation is not just "I want to see people like me"; it's also "I want to humanize people who are not like me". If you cannot relate to someone simply because they don't match your gender or sexuality, then that's a really shallow and cold way to interact with the world. And, specifically in relation to queerness within Critical Role: this is a world that has consistently been depicted as not having homophobia or transphobia. I understand wanting to explore these themes and seeing characters who have experienced them, but like...this is not the media that will reasonably have a one-to-one portrayal of homophobia or transphobia, and you often will need to bend over backwards and project a lot of stuff that simply isn't in the canon to read that into them because the worldbuilding simply doesn't support it. And, to be clear, you can do that; but at that point you're applying a lens that only you can obtain, so you shouldn't be surprised if few people come along with you. (I also think it's kind of dumb to watch a show with 5 cis men on it, four of whom are married to women, and be mad that the story has men in it and that those men sometimes are attracted to women; unpacking this would easily double the length of this already incredibly long post though.)
So: this sets a stage for people coming into the show saying "who looks like me, or can I make to look like me" rather than engaging with what's actually going on. Part of why I've been hesitant on Imogen and Laudna the whole time, though started out much more open to it, is in fact that it was heavily shipped from quite literally the moment that Laura and Marisha were indicated to be playing two women who knew each other from before. We knew nothing about their dynamic other than "existing friendship". So I think a lot of people put the cart before the horse and started shipping, and I do think - and I could be entirely wrong - a lot of them, deep down in their hearts, know that they are twisting their interpretations to match an idea of these two characters that has increasingly been proven not to be true onscreen. Like, I think a lot of people kind of realize that Imogen is putting Laudna in a horrible position here; I think a lot of people realize that their so-called 'unconditional' love that transcends words means there's no room to resolve or even express conflict. Perhaps they don't, but like, I'd like to give people the benefit of the doubt. It's just...I think that because this ship is so all-consuming within the fandom, and because so many people have staked their identities within the fandom on it, they don't know how to leave it and are scared of retaliation if they do.
This is backed up by the slow shift I've described - Imodna started out with "they're already girlfriends" or "they're already in love but just haven't said it" or "what could ever happen other than they become ever closer and eventually kiss" (as witnessed by these questions) to "they realized they were in love during the campaign" to "Imogen is in love with Laudna but Laudna isn't aware" to "god remember how they used to talk, I'd give anything for it" to "I guess a QPR is okay" (which is itself bizarre, like, the issues I see in their relationship are still just as much issues in a nonsexual partnership as a sexual one; honestly, it's not a healthy friendship though it is an interesting one and the problem's I have are not going to be fixed by kissing.) Like, it's not the normal evolution of feelings one might have about a ship as the show goes on and more information is revealed, or rather, it's a ship that's becoming less and less confident as time goes on which is the opposite of how canon ships tend to go. (Which, I need to stress, does not discount that it could not be canon; it's just that I think it would require a pretty profound shakeup and conflict to do so). The signs and signals are becoming more and more tenuous and the shippers keep lowering and lowering the bar.
Since I've already brought up past campaigns and ships, let's do it again for the sake of illustration; this feels like how people who shipped Caleb and Jester went from ENDGAME to "Caleb is pushing away Jester to protect her" to "I think Laura is biting her lip when she's looking at Liam! This is a SIGN" even in episodes where Jester was like, actively making out with Fjord, to, and I am not making this up, posting pictures of the CR shop showing Laura in Caleb merch as evidence. Or how the bulk of Vex/Keyleth shipping in TLOVM rested on a scene in the trailer where Keyleth was staring dreamily and drunkenly into space while Vex was across the table only for the show to reveal Keyleth was staring at Vax. Like, all shipping does require a certain degree of cherrypicking, but there is a point where you are focused only on subtext and never text, and while that was how one had to interact with queer stories in the past, it's ridiculous to be doing it on a show where Marisha has openly RP-ed Beau eating Yasha out. Like, if they wanted to show two women being romantically involved, they will. (There's been a lot of Xena comparisons thrown around, and like...not that Xena isn't an important part of the history of depicting F/F relationships in media, but it is also a syndicated show from the 90s and couldn't show an explicitly lesbian relationship, and Critical Role very much can and has.)
I do think there are a subset of people who don't realize how unhealthy this is. Like...this is a whole psychological thing that I am unequipped to unpack, but I do think there are people for whatever reasons genuinely do believe that love means never having to say you're sorry. I am hoping this is because of youth and inexperience, because being able to communicate and advocate for yourself is a crucial part of relationships, as is the ability to express and resolve conflict. As you've noticed, the people who ship this have all said "well, obviously, Imogen won't betray Laudna" - but we don't know that. Honestly I think it could go either way. But they have to make that assumption to keep shipping it, because if Imogen might betray Laudna, then that does mean that there would have been more meaning and value in Laudna speaking up and that conversation was deeply flawed.
I also think some of this comes from unconditional love being an unreasonable expectation foisted upon us all at large. There are always conditions, or rather, you might always in some way love someone, but there are conditions under which you'd leave or boundaries you will draw. You can love someone who (for example) is dealing with an addiction but still refuse to let them drive while intoxicated or steal your stuff to pay for drugs. You can love someone who cheats on you but still want to end that relationship. I mean, while fear, self-doubt, and resources/logistics are all factors in people leaving abusive relationships, it's also true that a lot of people have some affection for the good times and that is a factor as well. Love is not a simple on/off switch. You can feel multiple things at once - honestly, that's what Ashton basically says this past episode, that they both love and hate the party! I think Imogen and Laudna do genuinely love each other, though I don't interpret it as romantic; I just also think that there's a lot of stuff they don't like about each other but are unable to express, and which will only become more and more of a threat to a potential romantic (or queerplatonic) relationship if left to fester unresolve. And, to be honest, I suspect real-world homophobia and fandom purity issues are part of why people are so unwilling to discuss why Imogen and Laudna's relationship is unhealthy; because it means admitting that queer relationships can have most of the same problems as straight ones, and possibly admitting that you still find an unhealthy relationship interesting and want to see it played out.

you know, I actually think there's a lot of juicy merit to the idea of the belmonts not being the righteous heroes we always thought they were. maybe after many generations of triumphing over evil, they let it get to their heads that they were unfallible, that their judgements were always correct, etc. the concept of genuinely making them morally grey has so much potential from a storytelling angle, it's just too damn bad the only media that ever attempts this is fucking netflixvania. outside of like, less than 5 throwaway lines about baby vamp skulls and dark magic sealed doors, IT'S NEVER BROUGHT UP AGAIN. you had an idea and it sounded cool in your head, but no genuine clue how to actually WRITE it so some editor just overlooked the few lines you shoved into the script on a whim. as it stands now it feels like one the shows many attempts to shit talk the source material for the thousandth time. and aside from trevor, everyone is dead! how are we meant to criticize the dubious heroes when we can't even see how they behaved/what their practices were?? why should we even CARE???
The vampire kids is just proof of how shoddy the lorebuilding is. Once you get past the initial shock of "OMG the Belmonts killed babies??????", you think for one second "wait, the vampires can't reproduce, so... where are these children coming from?". And no matter the answer, you eventually realize that they deserve to be mercy killed 💀 (unless they're dhampirs, but that would be an even worse piece of information to relegate to shock value for 5 seconds)
There's also Julia, mind you. Who was apparently racist against vampires lmao, and killed Olrox' poor bf who was so nice and wanted equality and revolution, really! I don't even know how bad we're supposed to feel lol, because unless I'm mistaken, in that scene Olrox also reveals he turned his bf against his will...
Anyway. I get your point but... I don't trust like that anymore 😅 once again, I'd rather extrapolate on what the games left us. Trevor, as pointed out here, is an absolute savage in CoD, like he sounds so bloodthirsty for no reason! And he's the first Belmont who has killed Dracula, he's not even burdened by his own legacy, he's one of the founders of said legacy! And Richter's flaws are infamous, the way he enjoys the thrill of the fight just too much, the way his identity is wrapped around his destiny, the way he falters under Dracula's manipulation... Even Juste, you can see him as being a hothead and too willing to forget about recent events in HoD, indicating either denial or a sense of overprotectiveness.
Basically, giving personal flaws to the Belmonts is more than welcome. You can use these flaws to paint them as not completely pure, even, although personally I'm tired of the stereotype of the arrogant superhero. But NFCV just... doesn't like the Belmonts, at all, and that "oh they kill innocent vampires" tidbit that Alucard so despises, while I'm sure it's meant as a way to flesh out the "heroes", comes off to me as the show siding too often with the antagonists, and downplaying the Belmont's genuine desire to do good. Or turning Trevor and Juste into cynical washouts because we just like that archetype I guess :\

Hi! Before anything I wanted to lyk I've read through some of your work and you've easily become one of my favorite writers :) I was wondering if you could do a bit of a comfort post? If not that's totally okay! If so, could it be hcs for Bakugo, Shinso, and maybe Aizawa (but not in like a relationship kinda way for him, like a student opening up to their teacher) telling them about being gender fluid? What would be their reactions? How would they adjust to the name change and using different pronouns? I recently told my bf and he didn't seem too up for it, eventually I told him to use my given name and she/her, kinda bummed lmao. I totally understand if you don't want to write for this, tysm either way! Have a great night/day :) (I'm so sorry this is so lengthy lmaooo)
reader coming out as gender fluid
character(s) : bakugou katsuki, shinsou hitoshi, aizawa shouta (bnha)
legend : [Y/N = your name, D/N = deadname] gender neutral, quirk not specific
headcanon type : hurt-comfort, fluff (x reader; platonic)
note(s) : first of all, i’m sorry about what happened with your boyfriend, if he cares about you, then he should’ve been supportive. it’s disheartening knowing that you decided to have him address you by your birth name, and by she/her. it should never be that way, especially when you felt comfortable coming out to HIM as gender fluid.
anon, i really hope this post gives you comfort, and if you want to talk— my dms are open!
»»————- ♡ ————-««
Tumblr media
bakugou katsuki
he wasn’t so sure on why you were acting all skittish all of a sudden, and he just wished you told him what was up
as much as he doesn’t want to admit it, katsuki really hates seeing you this down— and if only he could ‘kill those pesky emotions!!’
after a long day at school, katsuki decided to demand an immediate answer, on WHY you were acting like this
you express your concern, and even though katsuki’s rough words say otherwise— he’s willing to help (as much as he could)
but he wasn’t expecting you to come out as genderfluid
the entire pronoun thing had him confused, and it wasn’t in the “huh?? why would you want that?” type of confusion
it was rather like the “i thought they/them were plural pronouns?” confusion, but don’t be misguided! a quick google search fixed it up, and now he gets it.
with the name thing,, it took him two tries for him to get it right— but he’ll treat you like royalty if he accidentally slips up. he doesn’t mean to disrespect you
out of everyone here— he would be the most confused at first, since he hasn’t had anyone come out to him in like,, ever
katsuki feels so honored to have you feel comfortable enough to come out to him.
everyone is so intimidated by his short-tempered demeanor, to the point that no one has shared such an important, and personal detail to him
he’ll pull you in for a hug, large warm hands rubbing your back— and he’s trying to be gentle, okay?
“you really thought i was gonna say some bullshit about this, huh?” was what he first said to break the silence “i could care less about what you fucking identify with, you’re still you.”
and he means it
if anyone disrespects you, he’s blowing them up into space— enraged that anyone would try to disrespect you.
katsuki’s also very quick to correct someone if they ever deadname you “IT’S Y/N, NOT D/N!”
rip to them
Tumblr media
shinsou hitoshi
as soon as he notices that something’s wrong, his eyes will be on you— and only you.
he wishes he had some sort of mind reading quirk— he wants to know what’s on your mind, just so he could help you
hitoshi doesn’t want to be pushy, so he can only wait for you to come to him— but he will leave subtle hints that you could tell him anything that was on your mind.
so that’s when you decide to tell him your worries, and everything— feeling that you’re ready to come out to him as gender fluid
a small genuine smile will grace his face, pulling you into a loose embrace— “thank you for feeling comfortable enough to tell me.”
the next thing he does is ask you if you want to go by anything else— just in case you do want to be addressed differently.
you’ll still be his kitty anyway, so it’s not like this change would negatively affect him.
you’ll never catch him slipping up
i’m sure he’s probably familiar with different types of identities— so gender fluidity isn’t a stranger topic to him
so because of this, he adapts pretty easily— cooperating with the new revelations with ease
rip to anyone that has the audacity to deadname or misgender you, it’s not something he takes very lightly similar to bakugou and aizawa
he’ll understand if it’s a innocent mistake, but he still won’t be pleased with the offender— that’s strike one for him
i swear— his glare will make anyone shart their pants in a second. it’s ruthless
hitoshi won’t hesitate on using his quirk on anyone that purposely disrespects you— and for once, he doesn’t care about what others will say about him.
they shouldn’t have disrespected you đŸ€·â€â™€ïž just saying
if you wanted to buy clothes that were a lot more gender neutral, he’s perfectly fine with that too!
hitoshi doesn’t care if you strip him of every single penny and dime that was in his wallet for hoodies and sweatpants.
he just wants your happiness to be at it’s highest at all times— because a happy Y/N makes a happy hitoshi <3
Tumblr media
aizawa shouta
even though he has to take care and supervise 23 growing teenagers, he still manages to notice if something’s wrong with one of them it’s impressive!
of course— aizawa’s a busy man, and he’s constantly tired. but, it would make him feel a lot better if all of his students were content with themselves
so seeing you down was something he noticed since the moment you came in
it’s not like he could FORCE you to tell him what was wrong, that’s not the approach he’s looking for
and besides, if you told him that everything was fine, then he couldn’t really push it. his concern didn’t really die down though
a few days later, aizawa decides to talk to you again— basically consenting you to come talk to him when the time’s right
but he didn’t see this coming
so that’s when you decide to come out to him first, spilling out your concerns, and the worries that plagued your mind— worried that people wouldn’t accept your new identity as a gender fluid person
now, aizawa has met a lot of people in his life. from different ages, people with different quirks, and of course— different identities
he asks you why you decided to tell him first, and you told him that it’s because you felt comfortable knowing he knew first
“thank you for telling me, Y/N” he thanks you calmly with a comforting hand on your shoulder “i’m proud of you.”
he asks you if you want to go by a different name, and he’ll make sure to start calling you by that name (even though he calls all of his students by their last name)
oh, and he immediately switches pronouns! i know that should be expected but,, it’s so natural wow
of course, he won’t out you to anyone if you’re not ready to come out to the rest
and because of how natural the pronouns switch is, no one notices it when aizawa started addressing you with they/them
but if you’re ready to come out, he’ll be there— silently making sure that everyone accepts you.
okay but he’ll get so defensive if anyone misgenders you or dead names you— his capture tape will start floating, and his eyes will shine red
which is weird because.. who has the guts to dead name/misgender AIZAWA SHOUTA’s student?? anyone that does that in front of him is INSANE
in short, he’s very supportive— he won’t blow it out of proportion, because he knows how uncomfortable that’d feel if he did
but he’s glad to know that you decided to share such a important detail to him— aizawa might be always tired, but he wouldn’t dare to forget such detail
you’re his student after all, he cares about you lots— if you’re content with yourself, then that’d bring him inner peace

feel free to ignore this if you're not up for it, but if you feel inclined, would you talk a bit about the visible differences in the pictures you used between the conformation dobes/"total package" dobes? i'm kinda fascinated that you said it was immediately apparent as i don't have enough knowledge of dobe confromation to make that call just on a look, and i'm really curious what cues you off! i find it v interesting when you talk abt the breed tho i'd never be confident to own one myself.
Well, technically only two of them were 'total package' dobes- Creed and Nadia both came from breeders that valued both working ability and conformation to physical standard. Suvie was produced by a conformation only breeder, and Marco and Munch by working only breeders.
I was more talking about the specific lines rather than conformation vs working. The lines within each of these dogs is readily obvious to me, but in fairness I've spent entire weeks staring at these otherwise identical black and tan dogs telling them apart, so it's easy to see the differences to me.
For any of them, the shape of the head and muzzle and how it relates to the rest of the body is the first clue. I find the more working focused the lines, the more of that blunt wedge terrier head you see. Of course, the standard calls for a blunt wedge appearance, so it's not a huge surprise, but I digress. I see it in the underjaw, the fill of the cheeks, the thickness of the lips (and sometimes how wet or dry the mouth is), the shape of the eye. Sometimes the cropped ear is a big hint. The more you know dobermans the more you can pretty accurately guess based on head shape and crop- I was able to accurately guess not only breeder but exact litter on several tumblr dobes due to this. The color of the rust markings can be another major indicator of lines, the shape of them as well, and exact body type and how the dog carries muscle. Finally the bone, the coarseness of apperance or lack thereof, and the spring of the chest. These are all pretty good indicators of what lines are what if you know what you're looking for.
When @khayr initially rescued Suvie, who was dumped at her primary care vet after the original owner "was hospitalized" (we think she died) and the family just wanted rid of her, I thought she looked too showy to be some badly bred craigslist dog, and most of the show breeders in our immediate area require the dog to come back to them in this situation. It was mostly her head that clued me in, she was in pretty bad shape at first and you couldn't see her body very well. She had very flat planes on her cheeks, thin lips, a boxy muzzle, relatively little underjaw, but nice ears that looked like someone did a lot of work to get them standing perfectly. She looked, well, like an ancient show dog. We used her head as a basic lines guess and dug through dobe pedigree records using her recorded birthday as a rough estimate and narrowed it down to one of two people. And one of them was the correct answer, and she WAS on a contract to go back, and that means the family never bothered.
Which is why I warn people to make a plan for their pets well in advance. You're never too young to suffer grevious injury or illness or die and if you can't take care of your pets, does your family know what you'd want to happen with them?
Anyway. I specifically included the dogs I did because those were all dogs I've met in person. Munch is from old old old school lines, lines that were dying off back then and are basically gone now. He... looks like a working line dog, lol. He has the terrier head and the straight front and the shallow chest and the slightly roached back that's common in those lines. His crop is nothing like the others' because his breeder still uses the oldschool utility 'military' crop. Marco is also from working lines but not as oldschool, you can tell because he's well put together despite looking like a working line dog. When he and his owner walked out onto the first I was immedtely impressed. He's a nice dog, a lot of presense, still very working line but not bad to look at either.

If there was anything Shadow knew, it was how to curate an image. At work, he created arrangements and bouquets to say exactly what the customer wanted. When he skated, he was the clown punk of the S community. Until recently, he’d never let those identities overlap. Now that they had, it felt almost like forming a third persona—except this wasn’t one he had to work so hard to maintain.
He’d started making the bracelets offhandedly at work on a slow afternoon at the flower shop, braiding and weaving colorful thread from the supply drawer. They normally used it to dress up orders, but there was so much that they wouldn’t miss a few feet. He didn’t realize that he was making them for his new group of friends until he’d finished the second one, and by then it seemed a waste not to finish the job. Now that he had friends who knew and actually liked both sides of him, he felt like they deserved...something. Something to show them what it meant to him, that it mattered.
And yet, once he’d finished them all, the idea of giving them to everyone made his chest tighten as he thought that maybe they’d all judge him after all. As Shadow, it was easier to pretend not to care, but he couldn’t pretend it wouldn’t mean something—something he didn’t want it to mean—if they did.
Still, the next night he showed up at S, five bracelets laden with charms and beads clacking together in his pocket. He swore he could hear them, even with the crowd around him. His palms sweat beneath his gloves, and he was only grateful that no one else could see how nervous he was behind his makeup. He couldn’t remember the last time he was this nervous, even for a beef. This should be easy. His friends wouldn’t just reject him over some bracelets. And if they took them home and threw them away, well...at least he wouldn’t be there to see it, so what did he care?
“Hey, you good, Shadow?”
Shadow jumped, and it was only when he stopped to look for the source of the voice that he noticed that he’d walked right by the same people he’d been looking for. Reki leaned forward, one foot on his board, looking intently at Shadow and obviously expecting an answer.
“Of course I’m good,” Shadow barked, but Reki didn’t seem convinced. He raised a brow and shrugged, shoving one hand in his pocket and absently raising one of his hoodie strings to put it between his teeth.
“If you say so,” Reki said, settling back against Langa’s shoulder. “You seem kinda weird tonight, though.”
“What do you mean weird?” Shadow shouted, voice low and gravelly. “I’m supposed to be weird! It’s not my fault you don’t know what it means to get into character.”
“He’s right, though,” Miya chimed in. “It’s outside your normal weirdness, and it’s kind of creeping me out.”
“I didn’t even do anything!” Shadow exclaimed, and his heart sank. This was exactly what he’d been afraid of, and part of him was already shoving his plan to the back of his mind, ready to leave the bracelets in his pocket and toss them himself once he got home. He could do it, and no one would know but him.
“It’s true,” Cherry mused from where he stood in Joe’s shadow. “You don’t usually look so...bothered when you’re here.”
“Listen—” Shadow began, whipping his hand from his pocket, only to hear a soft clacking as two of the bracelets hit the ground—the one he’d intended for Reki, bright red and decorated with beads of different sizes and a bright orange alstroemeria flower charm, and the other for Langa, soft blue thread woven simply with a white gerbera.
“What’s that?” Miya asked before Shadow could scoop them up and hide them again. He almost did anyway, almost tried to pass them off as some trick meant for a beef he wasn’t even skating tonight. In the end, he resigned himself to risking every single friendship he’d built over the past several months, and sighed as he held out the bracelets to Reki and Langa.
“I made them,” he said, and his voice lost some of the edge he reserved for his S persona. “Sorry I didn’t wrap them or anything. I didn’t wanna do anything too fancy, y’know? Anyway, if you hate it, at least wait until I’m not around to get rid of ‘em.”
Reki took his without hesitation, Langa picking his own up out of Shadow’s palm like he might break it if he weren’t careful. Reki twisted the beads between his fingers, rubbing them over the different sizes like they were a miniature skating course as a grin spread across his face. Langa immediately tried putting his on, fumbling until Reki paused long enough to help him tie it around his wrist.
“It’s soft,” Langa said, running his fingertips over the delicate braiding, and that told Shadow all he needed to know. Langa was particular about textures, and he always stuck with the same clothing brands because he knew how the fabric felt. Shadow knew to take it as a compliment when Langa left the bracelet on.
A weight felt like it had lifted from Shadow’s shoulders, and he let himself relax. He took the last three bracelets from his pocket, offering the next to Miya. The vibrant purple thread stood out next to the others, and it was the only one he’d added an extra charm to—a silver cat paw—along with the freesia he’d chosen for the youngest member of their group.
“I didn’t know a slime could make something so tasteful,” Miya remarked as he let Shadow tie it around his wrist.
“Watch who you’re calling a slime,” Shadow growled, though there was almost no bite behind the words. “I can always take that back.”
“After all that just to take it out of your pocket?” Miya scoffed, flicking the paw with a finger. “You wouldn’t.”
It was true, Shadow thought, as he turned to give the last two to Cherry and Joe. He wouldn’t dare take them back when his friends actually seemed to like them, and even more than that seemed grateful to receive them. It was what he’d hoped for, but he’d also learned by now to hope for the best and expect the worst so he didn’t get too disappointed if things didn’t work out. After all, so few things in his life had happened as he expected, for better or worse, and now, as he handed over a thin pink and brown woven bracelet and another green and woven like thick rope, he wanted to savor this thing that had.
“Hey, it’s not a cherry blossom,” Joe pointed out as he peered sideways at Cherry’s bracelet.
“Yeah, I thought it would be too obvious,” Shadow said, rubbing the back of his neck.
“The zinnia is appropriate,” Cherry said, eyes roving over Shadow’s handiwork as if he were trying to find fault. And yet, when he took his eyes away from it, he gave Shadow a smile that Shadow recognized as the same one he practiced for most others at S—except this one reached his eyes. “A symbol of acclaim and enduring friendship, correct? Certainly more refined than jealousy.”
“What do you mean?” Joe demanded when Cherry gestured to the bracelet in his hands.
“A yellow rose stands for jealousy,” Cherry said matter-of-factly.
“It means friendship, too,” Shadow cut in before their squabbling could turn into a full blown argument. What he didn’t say was that he knew yellow roses also symbolized jealousy. He worked at a flower shop, after all, and had put together enough subtle spite bouquets for people forced into occasions they didn’t want to attend that he of course knew all the various meanings of different flowers. Roses were some of the most versatile, and he’d hoped no one would pick up on the alternate meaning—the one that said he envied Joe’s strength as much as he valued his friendship.
“Put it on for me,” Cherry said, holding the bracelet out to Joe and lifting the hem of his pants to reveal his ankle.
“Sure, princess,” Joe said, taking the bracelet and stooping to the ground.
“Where’s yours?” Langa asked, eyes migrating to Shadow’s wrists, clad only in his spiked gloves. Shadow followed his gaze, turning his hands over absently, as if he didn’t already know he’d never made himself a bracelet.
“I didn’t make myself one,” he said. “It’s kinda weird to make a friendship bracelet for yourself.”
“I don’t think so,” Langa mused. “You’re our friend, so you shouldn’t be the only one without a bracelet.”
“Hey, yeah,” Reki said, grasping Shadow’s hand and inspecting his wrist like if he looked hard enough, a bracelet would materialize.
Shadow pulled his hand away. “It’s not a big deal. I made those for you guys because you’re the only people who know this me and the other me. I just wanted to do something to show that I...well
”
“That you care,” Miya supplied, and Shadow was glad that his mask covered the heat that rose to his face.
“Whatever,” he muttered, only to catch Reki and Joe both grinning out of the corner of his eye.
“It’s still not the same if you don’t have one,” Reki said, tapping at the beads on his own bracelet. He thought for a moment, and just as Shadow opened his mouth to say it was fine, that he’d make himself one eventually if it was that big a deal, Reki’s face lit up. Before Shadow could ask about it, the group was already dissolving to skate, each person wearing their respective bracelets.
The next time they gathered at S, Reki gave Shadow a gift of his own—a bracelet woven in orange thread bearing a yellow chrysanthemum.

Heya Maple! It's been almost two days since I sent an ask, I'm so sorry for that. It's just that these exams are really stressing me out. I promise you'll see me more often once these exams are over :)
Bestie same here I can't wait to talk to you as moots OMG
Also I'm not always this confident, it's just that these exams are really important and I'm working very hard for them which caused me to be 100% sure of my answer, plus later that evening a news paper article revealed the answer key and fortunately all answers were correct lmao.
BESTIE EVEN THO I'M EXCITED FOR THE FIC PLEASE DON'T STRESS YOURSELF!! The loyal audience can and will wait for you so don't worry, ik the finished fic is gonna be worth the wait.
PLS NI-KI MOST PROBABLY IS TALLER THAN SOOBIN. I mean look at the difference b/w him and Hee now he's growing taller day by day.
I completely agree with you, it's really difficult to manage such relationships and it's scary. Sometimes you have to part ways unwillingly :( But the risk is a part of the relationship itself
Do you believe in astrology? I'm do believe in it but not to an extent that I'll think it can determine my life. The things I believe in are like personality traits on basis of zodiac or tarot readings. They have always been accurate for me and are kinda fun. Once I came across this tarot reading about future spouse and took it out of curiosity. I got wheel of fortune and the description was like "someone who's born rich or owns a family business which causes them to travel a lot". I laughed so hard when I read that but a few days later I shut about it cuz I took two more tarot readings (from different people) and the result was same. Yep that's what stopped me from joking around about astrology lmao
Anyways, have a good day Maple! I apologize in advance if you don't hear from me frequently, I'll still try my best to drop an ask time to time <3
Your secret santa, ☕
Omg hi and welcome back!
It's alright that you haven't been here in a while, I hope that exams are going well and your taking care of yourself! I know these days can be stressful with exams and everything so I completely understand.
ITLL BE SO FUN WHEN I CAN FINALLY ADD YOU TO MY MOOTS PAGE ISTG
But I'm glad that you're working very hard for your exams I'm sure that it must be tough. But that's some SUPREME studying if you got all those answers correct. LMFAO
ALSO THANK YOU FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT đŸ€§ it's the first idol x male!oc fic I've ever started working on and it took a lot for me to start writing it. It means a lot to me so I hope I can release it soon and bless peoples eyes with the cute adorable FLUFF OVERLOAD.
Actually FUN FACT I at first wasn't sure about doing other pairings except female!oc/reader or ?!oc/reader because I'm not part of the LGBTQ+ community but when I realized that love is love I didn't know what I was holding back from before. I mean love is a universal construct anyone can understand it shouldn't matter the person you experience with.
So now I'm more confident in doing other pairings and sometimes those other pairings are some of my best work ngl.
ANYWAYS IM GLAD YOUR LOOKING FORWARD TO IT when I finally know your identity I'll add you to the taglist ;)
AND YEAH 😭 RIP SOOBIN and that's just scary considering how tall soobin is already 😰
I agree wholeheartedly with that, struggles happen in relationships it's just part of it. But I think if you live the other and are willing to commit yourself to the other enough then it's worth it in the end. But ofc, that's me and my hopeless romanticism 😀
I believe in astrology to a certain extent, and I do think that tarot cards are true to an extent as well. I think that there are multiple paths for our future tho and tarot cards only read the current path you're on based on the way you feel at that moment. However emotions and decisions change so I think tarot cards can be inaccurate if those type of things change. Nothing is set in stone in my opinion and we can change our fate based on our own choices.
However it is fun reading horoscopes and talking about our personalities and stuff LMAO.
I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY AS WELL! Good luck on your exams ;)

Conversation
The left has become absorbed by identity politics and is obsessed with race.. it scares me that they will create more racists than before they started
(6-17-20) You both like politics.
You: heyaa
Stranger: Hi
Stranger: How are you
You: anything you're interested in?
You: I am fine
Stranger: I'm interested in hearing opinions on things
You: oh, me too ^^
You: what kind of things?
Stranger: Politics is divisive, but in order to get a better understanding I wish to listen to both sides
You: awesome, I think that's great ^^
Stranger: :) thank you
You: do you have issues you care about most?
Stranger: The current fall of western society
You: fall of western society huh
You: can you elaborate more?
Stranger: Over the past few years we have seen western society devolve. Where once we were fairly united and we stood strong, we have become more divided and with the introduction of identity politics, that has just worsened till we have gotten to where we are now. China is currently pushing her borders, and yet with the US in flames and the uk following suit (along with France for that matter), noone challenges it
You: mhm *nodsnods*
Stranger: To speak out against the lunacy is to be called a racist and a bigot, not that that's anything new of course but those who are calling for these things seem to not really understand the importance and significance of their actions. I see this as akin to the 1920s Weimar Republic. They are pushing for things they don't want
You: you type a lot haha
Stranger: Sorry i am choosing my words carefully
You: mhm it's fine
You: so you think strong foreign policy is very important?
Stranger: I do. I am from South Africa, though I live in the uk. For those who live outside the us and Europe, we see the importance of Baro and the us on a geopolitical scale. China owns the east of Africa, if not central as well. The us has been the top dog preventing them and Russia from doing much for years, though that's going to change in the coming years
Stranger: NATO not baro* bloody autocorrect
You: oh okay I was wondering what that was haha
Stranger: If I may ask, where are you from?
You: the us actually
Stranger: I thought you might be given the time :) it's half 1 am here
You: yeah it's late!
You: so in your view, western countries need to have more of a spine?
You: is that basically what you're saying?
Stranger: Always. But history has a cycle.
Stranger: Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times
You: very fair
You: speaking of cycles, I think something that is floating around these days
You: is whether it's sort of like the beginning of the end of american hegemony
You: sort of like UK's empire gradually had its sunset
Stranger: This is what I am concerned with. All empires have their time in the sun, and all shall fade. I had hoped I would be dead before it happened. I made a prediction several years ago that should trump win in 2020 again, there will be civil war. I am unsure on my prediction of civil war, but I can see that he will win. Should there not be war, I give it another 2 presidencies before yourselves will fall, and ww3 breaks out
You: hmm the us is steamy right now, but idk about civil war
Stranger: It's been brewing for a while now by my estimation
You: that said I would not be surprised about China continuing to be more aggressive
You: that stuff with India yesterday?
You: ^^
Stranger: Without strong willed opposition, they will always push more overtly. They have done so in the shadows for years now
Stranger: And that's just one example
Stranger: They have intruded on Thailand air space as well
You: I don't think either democrats or republicans are very foreign-policy aggressive right now though
You: idk if your concern will be that much better with biden
You: clinton was a little hawkish but she lost 2016
Stranger: It would be much worse with Biden, or anyone from the left EXCEPT Tulsi Gabbard
You: oh you sounded like you didn't want trump to win lol
Stranger: I don't like him. But honestly, he's the best option out of what has been shown. Bernie is a socialist, Hillary is a warmonger, Biden will probably be a puppet. Who can stand? Hillary could be strong, but you would go to war. For all his faults, Trump has avoided war and conflict. He brought North Korea to the discussion table.
You: okay ^^
Stranger: I may not like him but he is effective, and has been a boon to you economy though as someone who works in finance, the next crash is due soon
You: fair enough although I think a lot of places are hurt by the coronavirus economy anyways
Stranger: Yeah.. the lockdowns are odd.. why quarantine those who are healthy? We have always quarantined those who were I'll first, and then those who go out and riot get a free pass? It's a bit confusing, and is a little bit of double think. Rules don't apply to you if you have the correct opinions it would seem
You: idk the US never really had forced quarantines
You: everything here was just you were supposed to do it
Stranger: The uk did, apologies
Stranger: Well not heavily enforced near me
You: we had college students going to beaches even though the quarantine was happening
You: because young ppl think they are invincible
You: and dumb ^^
Stranger: Hahaha yeah you aren't wrong in that
Stranger: But I have waffled on, may I hear your opinions on what we have discussed?
You: mhm, I disagree but it's cool yo~
Stranger: No that's great, it shows that we can discuss and hopefully come to compromise
Stranger: Thank you for being chill and relaxed
You: mhm I'm basically a hippie though so I don't usually take strong stances on international intervention
Stranger: That's fair and understandable. I used to agree with that as well for many years
You: I kind of think it's a little bit of a selfish position to take (the peace one)
You: in the sense that I don't want to deal with other people's problems
You: so in a sense it's kinda selfish
Stranger: It is and it isn't :)
Stranger: It's a moral good and a difficult thing. Peace only exists as reprieve from war. Humanity is a war like species, and peace only ever exists between them. And I applaud your pacifism
You: idk I'm not sure if it's always something to applaud
You: I think in a sense it's a kind of inaction
Stranger: A good thought experiment for you then, look at ww2
You: yup
You: I'm familiar with isolationism in history and its ramifications
Stranger: The us was neutral officially for years, and because they took no strong stance, the Nazis rose to power. Admittedly it was partly the fault of all the allies and ww1 but that's a digression.
Stranger: But war was thrust upon them officially by what happened. The peaceful stance can be taken from you, but that is not a bad thing in my opinion
You: yup
Stranger: What would you do if you could, at that time?
You: at that time?
You: hmm
You: it's not a question I've thought very much about
Stranger: I thought on that myself
You: and what did you conclude?
Stranger: My answer was intervention. Stop the Anschluss, the Munich agreement, the extremely harsh measures of the treaty at the end of ww1
You: oh yeah that was a terrible treaty
You: I kind of imagined myself as an average person though haha
Stranger: But I understand the reasoning at the time for allowing all those things to go through
Stranger: I am too
You: you would have protested your government signing that treaty?
Stranger: That's why thay generation was called the greatest generation. We the average man stood up and took up arms, because they believed what was right.
Stranger: It is difficult to say that if I lived in that time I would. Of it was today, 100%
You: mhm... war is frightening
Stranger: We cannot judge the past with the same moral standing we have today
You: of course
Stranger: And yes, war really is a horrible thing
Stranger: If peace was an option, I would go for it. Often times though, we have no control over that
You: mhm there is suffering in a lot of places, and violence that arises from suffering and hatred
Stranger: Look at the Nazis and the hatred of the Jews. That was extremely common all across Europe, the uk and the us. Many leaders in politics and business liked the Nazis initially. But just because something is common, does not make it right
You: I actually never understood antisemitism
Stranger: You are quite wise, and I agree with you. But the sad thing is, there will always be suffering
You: or why people hate(d) jewish people
Stranger: The scary thing is, many of those in BLM look up to a man called Farrakhan (forgive me on the spelling) who is a huge antisemite. Like he openly calls for violence against them. He gets away with it, because he is black. Why he hates them I don't know. They are hated I think, because they are the oldest abrahamic religion and the oldest monothesist one as well, from which both Islam and Christianity draw their teachings from initially
You: I just don't understand why they are hated
You: often by christians too
Stranger: Me neither, I find it abhorrent. They have been persecuted for thousands of years
You: yeah idk I just don't understand why
Stranger: I have yet to find out why. I know in Islam they hate them as it is dictated within their scriptures, though the exact wording I am unsure on. Christians I would think it's because they don't believe that Jesus was the son of God
You: I guess so
Stranger: But I may be entirely wrong
Stranger: Which I probably am
You: idk I don't know anything so I have no clue
Stranger: Hence why I like and want discussion :) we learn more through communication
Stranger: We become better the more we communicate
You: is there a reason why you dislike blm so much?
Stranger: I stand against identitarianism
You: so basically all those "pride" movements?
Stranger: I come from a racist country that segregated everyone and everything based on the colour of everyone's skin and I was hated for being the colour of my skin just for being born. I cannot condone movements that wish to implement the same things, as it will lead to suffering and hatred.
Stranger: I have nothing against being proud of your race, though I think the idea is a bit stupid. I have an issue with everything needing to divided up based on the colour of ones skin, I choose to judge someone on the basis of their character. I'm not perfect and there are times where I have been prejudiced but it is something I am consious of and wish to not do
You: mhm okay
You: I'm not sure if blm wants things to be divided up based on race though
You: I thought they were mostly against police brutality
Stranger: Some very much so are. Though I will concede that not all of them are, and I should tar everyone with the same brush. But as a counter to that, look at CHAZ in Seattle, they have segregated farms though calling them that is hilarious
You: I thought chaz is just a city block?
Stranger: On the police brutality, I agree with them and that reform must happen. Abolishing police is not a good idea. More funding is required, better training and better internal policies and structures to vette and review the officers is needed. Abolishing them will lead to anarchy. You are correct that Chaz is, but it is a microcosm showing the very things I stand against. I am against racism of all kinds, segregation is a form of racism. The us had a history where they did it too and agreed that it was wrong
You: mhm
You: I just wasn't familiar with blm as pro-segregation
You: that said, most blm activists are just really young
Stranger: They have been co-opted by those who are. And many activists are young white kids
You: I don't think mainstream democrats take them very seriously
Stranger: I'm not so certain. But I hope I am wrong
You: idk I mean these days who knows what kind media we each read
You: so I'm sure I'm in a bubble too
Stranger: They may see these things as a good and helpful idea, but the road to hell is often paved with good intentions
Stranger: Of course, and I hope I'm wrong. I recommend a variety of news sources, especially independent ones. A great one is a guy named Tim Pool on YouTube. He is a left leaning centrist guy who is upfront with his leanings. But he gives the news as it is
You: mhm I try to avoid youtube news
You: although idk if it's truly reliable to always go through bbc or ap or others
You: they are just mainstream
Stranger: BBC is very biased in my opinion. Tim used to work on mainstream media but he left. I would call him credible, he looks at news sources and verifies them. He's very milk toast and fence sits allot the problem with news is that all sides want to spin things the way they want it
You: mhm okay
You: is there any kind of mainstream media that you like?
Stranger: I don't trust any of them when it comes to almost anything except weather and sport scores. I will listen to what is said from various sources before coming to my own conclusions. I have lost all faith in the media since 2016
You: I see, I guess it ends up being hard to find something to trust
Stranger: Unfortunately it is. My reasons for it was both the elections in the us for 2016 and the brexit vote here in the uk. I was very similar to you then, very much so a hippie and very left leaning. I disagreed with Trump and Brexit, but I lost. But the way the media and society within the left handled themselves and the situation, that put me off completely and pushed me to become more conservative than what I was
You: interesting, although I'm not exactly following what made you more interested in conservative things
Stranger: The constant denigration of those who you disagree with. The treatment hat those people got, most of whom are the working class, upon the backs of which society is upheld. They are not racist or evil. They have a different opinion and different values. How does making a choice in a democracy make someone evil when neither side is perfect?
Stranger: The left preaches tolerance, except that it doesnt in reality
You: mhm yeah I don't like that
You: I don't think it is effective either
Stranger: All it does is polarize people
Stranger: And drive them further away from reaching g a compromise
You: right
Stranger: Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with Brexit, but as a democracy we made a decision. So now we need to exact that decision. I would have voted for trump despite my disdain for him
Stranger: Enact not exact*
You: I think there are a lot of people who think similarly as you do ^^
Stranger: There really are
Stranger: The left has become absorbed by identity politics and is obsessed with race.. it scares me that they will create more racists than before they started
Stranger: Constantly calling your opposition racist and evil will force them into being it
You: mhm I think there are some things to distinguish between social media left-wing people and people in everyday life I think
You: the vitriol is always much more amplified online than people are irl
Stranger: Oh agreed! Twitter is not real life, but it has started to bleed over
You: I live in a fairly liberal state, although I don't really think I have ever seen twitter irl
You: although I do think there is probably self-censorship occuring
You: in the sense that people are afraid of what their neighbors will think
Stranger: There is allot of that
Stranger: Anything you say will be used against you. Even if it's not that controversial
Stranger: People have lost their jobs for an opinion not done at work
You: that said, I don't think that's per say the "left's" fault though -- I just think that public opinion has shifted dramatically in the last 10 years
Stranger: Or how about the man who lost his job because his wife said something controversial
Stranger: I agree with you
Stranger: I really do
Stranger: Allot of this I do think could have been stopped years ago
You: I don't really like the lynch firing of people
You: that companies do for their public image
You: because the truth doesn't matter
You: it's just public image
Stranger: They do so because they are scared of the mob
You: but at the same time, I think public image is a thing because majority opinion really has shifted in the past two decades
You: opinions on homosexuality have swung dramatically in the US
You: ten years ago it was totally okay in public to be anti-homosexual
Stranger: Obama was against gay marriage until it was politically important for him to win the next election
You: but public opinion I think has swung really fast
You: yeah
You: I think he swapped at the first poll that showed >50% of americans supported it
Stranger: Yep! I find it hilarious that that was the case
You: yes but I think conservatives find this kind of fast change extremely uncomforting
You: I can understand that sentiment
You: also isn't it getting kinda late for you? ^^
Stranger: Conservatives are by their very nature are conservative. Change is neither malevolent nor benevolent, but we cannot look at change as universally good. Not can we disregard tradition
Stranger: It's 3 am and I can still keep going, I'm enjoying this conversation :)
You: I need to do the dishes eventually lol
Stranger: If you wish to leave you can by all means :) I won't hate you for it
You: I'm fine either way tbh
You: are you working right now? if you have work tomorrow you should prob go to bed
Stranger: It's up to you :) I can go for ages though my coherence Kay descend
Stranger: I'm sadly unemployed at the moment having lost my job earlier this year
You: coronavirus?
Stranger: Sadly yes
You: that's unfortunate, I'm sorry
Stranger: Not your fault :) so don't stress
You: so aside from Russia and China and the decline of western things, is there anything else that you stress about lol?
Stranger: The drive of censorship
Stranger: I have serious issue with censory
You: mhm
Stranger: And yourself?
You: mhm I dunno really
Stranger: That's good, though I would urge you to become concerned with censorship
You: mhm maybe
You: for me it's sort of a contextual concern I think
You: in the sense that it depends on your vantage point
Stranger: Opinions, art and books doesn't matter. Today it is their voice, tomorrow it is my voice. The day after it becomes your voice. Censorship takes away their rights to speak, and your rights to listen
You: mhm, what I mean is that my family immigrated from China
You: so my reference point of censorship is literal government censorship
You: in comparison the "political correctness" thing just doesn't seem as big to me imo
You: because 90% of it to me is sort of like a person's relationship with the neighbor basically
You: the US government doesn't censor what you can publish essentially
Stranger: That's fair enough, but this is where it starts. Things take time, and if anyone gives in (such as they have in several cases) that builds. In time that becomes the norm, there after what gets censored will not be at the choice of the people but of those who are in power
You: perhaps, although I kind of have faith in the 1st ammendment and the US supreme court
You: we barely have libel laws or defamation laws in the US because of the 1st ammendment
Stranger: I have seen calls to change and amend it. In the uk we have no freedom of speech, people have been arrested for jokes, what's been said on Twitter, etc. There are those who say that it's ok to censor this and that because e they are problematic or it would be good for everyone. But that is how it starts. The US has so much freedom
You: ahh... yeah I feel like it is different in the uk
Stranger: The uk doesn't care for free speech. It's very worrying and there are calls for even more censorship here.
You: mhm that sounds worrisome
Stranger: I guess I project it across to all western countries, and that is something we have seen recently
You: I don't think the US will lose the 1st amendment anytime soon, it's not politically realistiic
Stranger: Look at Amazon censoring books and movies being removed etc, this is how this begins. If it is allowed now, how can we stop it in the future
You: idk the status of free speech in other countries
You: actually this is a very interesting topic
Stranger: The us is one of the only countries that has it
You: do you think freedom of speech should be protected in private spaces?
Stranger: Codified in law that is
You: because technically freedom of speech for us is supposed to be only related to public government relationships
Stranger: I believe it should always be be protected
You: specifically "congress will make no law restricting freedom of speech" (paraphrased)
You: so you believe that private companies should not control what is said on their premises?
You: I mean it's fine if you believe that, it's actually just a bit further than what the current status quo is
Stranger: Yes. They are not above the law. Society may shun them, but they should not become involved. Outright calls for violence are against the law and that should be honoured, outside of that no they should not impose on pthers
You: hmm in the US this is where things get super complicated
You: because conservatives are also the ones who want content restricted/said in their religious schools too
Stranger: I've noticed.. and that has an effect on the rest of the world
You: basically "freedom of religion" and "freedom of speech" being on the same political side here makes things very weird
Stranger: And yeah I am aware of that as well, though the pendulum seems to have swung to the other side now. And it will swing back to the other side again
You: kind of like "My store should have the freedom of religion to deny my patrons of being homosexual in my store" kinda thing
Stranger: Yeah it is hard but there is more to the opposite side than just the one thing
You: it's a weird convoluted thing when both are conservative issues
Stranger: That's a difficult one, but I would say that should be discussed and debated but the highest courts. I cannot say from a legal sense one way or the other, morally I can say that it's hard to decide. I think that everyone should get a choice but I am uncertain
Stranger: By not but*
You: mhm that's fine ^^
You: I just think it's very interesting because most laws here, they govern the relationship between between the government and the people
You: so our freedom of speech laws do not apply to amazon censoring books because they are a private company
Stranger: Which is the difficult thing
Stranger: They are protected by being a private company
Stranger: As it's not just them
You: maybe ^^ we have a free market though, so things that cannot be published on amazon will find an outlet elsewhere
You: provided there is a demand for it
You: that said, it also has some gray area with morality laws
Stranger: That is true but monopoloes make things harder to find
You: kind of like youtube banning pornographic content
Stranger: Yeah I can understand that morally, legally I don't know but I would assume that there is some laws regarding that
You: I mean I'm just used to many various sites having bans of various sorts
Stranger: The uk has some
Stranger: Yeah, but there are protections for them being platforms not publishers
You: I don't think there is any law forcing youtube to ban pornographic content; it's just a branding choice by the company
Stranger: If they are publishers, those protections don't apply
You: like I think they want to be seen as family-friendly
Stranger: Fair enough, would have thought there might be
You: porn sites are not illegal in the US lol
Stranger: Not family friendly, advertisement friendly
You: lol true
Stranger: Sorry I don't know enough to be able to say :) I'm happy to admit that
You: mhm aside from political correctness, I guess I just don't personally see a big problem with censorship in the US
You: although I think I have a different belief than you that I think it's okay for private companies to choose what they want to publish
You: even if the ban content
You: these companies still need to compete
Stranger: Them doing so is fine, but if they wish to be protected as platforms they cannot act as a publisher. I think that's the Crux of their protections
Stranger: It is something that has been going for a while though
Stranger: And I think Trump will have it in his campaign for reelection this year
You: okay ^^
Stranger: But I don't know, he has been interested in censorship and has said he is against it in the past
You: I think people mean different things by censorship
You: but that's just imo
You: there are almost no western countries that experience censorship by their governments
You: so people mean things like censorship at their workplace
You: although imo that's kind of less censorship and more on the political correctness spectrum
Stranger: True. That is very true. But if you don't stop censorship openly, then should it come from government you don't already know you can stand against it
You: but to me, that "political correctness" isn't anything new either; it's as old as time
You: like did we always worry about saying something that would offend our boss?
You: ^^
You: it's always been there
You: I just think people are uncomfortable because bosses have changed in the last few decades
Stranger: It's not just their work place. The new "town square" is has become online. Your freedoms online are not protected despite it being codified in law
Stranger: And you aren't wrong, and coming from China or at least your family, you bring an interesting perspective
You: I feel like in the US we have very little digital legislation
You: the US of is head of hear
You: *there
Stranger: The world needs a digital bill of rights, to protect us all and our data. But we won't get it
You: but I don't think we have anything guaranteeing that speech on the Internet is free by any regard
Stranger: I would argue we do
You: hm? which law?
You: I like most websites have ToS's and rules banning X Y or Z on their site
Stranger: Freedom of speech and expression
You: oh I mean in terms of law
Stranger: That is what I meant, so that we are free to speak and express ourselves. I also believe that our data should be private and cannot be sold and that should be protected. There are other things that I have heard but it's difficult to remember all those that were proposed
You: ahh
You: yeah we don't have those laws right now
Stranger: Today stuff is okay but you are not protected
You: although the EU has some privacy ones that we don't have in the US
Stranger: The EU doesn't care mostly
Stranger: Some laws only protect some information, I'm talking about all of our information
You: ^^
Stranger: Everything we post and do is tracked, monitored and sold
Stranger: We revel in it, "I was talking about cats/dogs and all of a sudden I got adds for cat/dog products"
Stranger: We hear that often
You: yup
Stranger: Also, with regards to our rights and things, who holds these companies accountable?
Stranger: Take google for example
Stranger: They have been caught tampering with the elections
You: well, again, we have basically no laws about this in the US so there is no accountability
Stranger: They openly censor news and opinions
Stranger: They are a monopoly
You: although some europrean countries have lawsuits whatever with them
You: yup they totally are
You: where are anti-trust laws lol?
Stranger: That's what I think Trump will be looking at, I would if I was in his shoes
Stranger: But they were given special protections
Stranger: Those need to be taken away, the large companies need to be broken up but governments are incompetent
Stranger: I don't trust them to do it well
You: mhm it actually reminds me of south korea actually
Stranger: I mean there are a few senators in the states that I think have the moral fortitude to do so, but I don't know
You: countries are loathe to break up companies that they're proud of basically
Stranger: Yep
You: like samsung in south korea lol?
Stranger: They wouldn't break them up
Stranger: It would do serious damage to the economy and blah blah blah
You: their revenue was like 20% of the entire country's gdp
Stranger: Yep it's a difficult argument
Stranger: And I can understand why you wouldnt
Stranger: That 20% could drop to below 1%
You: anyhow it is getting kind of late
You: it was nice talking to you
You: and you should sleep ^^
Stranger: Likewise! :) I needed to move my sleep schedule for a 24 hour race on the weekend anyway, sp thank you for occuping my time and mind :)
You: goodnight!
Stranger: I'm glad to have met another willing to talk, take care my good friend
You have disconnected.

17 or 48, both together, or just one, or whatever you want if they haven't already been requested, NSFW I guess if you don't have any problem with it. I wanted to add, in honor of Tom wearing glasses: for some reason, any silly reason or plot device you need, that makes Peter have to wear glasses, and MJ freaks out about it finding she's especially very attracted to him wearing glasses. You're super awesome btw!!!!

Thank you so much for these requests, Anons! As 48 and 17 were requested together more than once, I have included both prompts in this fic. And it’s NSFW (if you’re a perv, I’m a perv, Anon #3). And Peter wears glasses (feel free to determine the level of silliness of my reasoning for them, Anon #1 haha). Extra thanks to you, Anon #1, for your kind words! Hope you all enjoy!
This Spa Day Provided to You by Stark IndustriesPairing: Peter Parker x Michelle Jones (Spideychelle)Rating: E/NSFWWord count: 3752
17. “I know what I want, when I want it. So get over here.”
48. “If you want to get me naked, you’ll have to convince me it’ll be worth my time.”
Peter sighed into the phone.
“When I said the decathlon team really needs to relax beforeour next competition, that was just me complaining! I wasn’t asking you tospend money on us!”
“Yes, but that’s the beauty of being Tony Stark’s favouriteintern―”
“―only intern,” Peter mumbled.
“―I solve your problems before you even realize they needsolving.”
“I did realize,”he argued, flinging himself down onto his bed.
“And you weren’t going to do anything about it besidescomplain? That’s not very ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ of you, kid.”
“I
had some thoughts,” Peter said defensively.
“Such as?”
“Puppy room?”
“Like you rent puppies to help your pals cope with pre-competitionstress, is that the definition of ‘puppy room’ we’re working from?” Mr. Starkchecked. “Meaning you have puppies brought into your school, meaning you exposethose halls of learning to the evils of
what’s it called? Pet dander! Becausethere’s always one kid, Pete, always that one kid who’s allergic to puppies andspoils things for everyone else. And then, gee, it’s not the puppy’s fault, butnow there’s sneezing and itching and throats swelling shut, an ambulance iscalled to cart poor Timmy off to the hospital, and in the meantime, the puppieshave peed and ralphed all over the floor, thereby causing more stress than whatexisted to begin with! Then, of course, you’re blamed for the whole thingbecause it was your idea, probably kicked off the team, definitely sociallyostracized, and always left wondering, ‘Was it worth it?’”
There was a long pause.
“What happens to Timmy?” Peter wondered.
“Oh, they couldn’t save him. Anyway, doesn’t a spa day soundmore peaceful than all that?”
“Only because you turned the puppy room into some kind ofhorror movie epidemic.”
“It was a rhetorical question, since the obvious answer,”Mr. Stark informed him, “is a simple ‘yes.’ By the way, why am I having to sellthis to you so hard when I’m the one who paid for it?”
“That one’s gotta be rhetorical,” Peter said, but his mentorhad already hung up.
\\
“So, there’s, like, a sauna, a pool and hot tubs, or you canget a massage, or―”
“Living in a luxurious, fluffy spa robe for a day isbasically my dream,” Ned declared, interrupting Peter.
With a glance around the room, Peter saw that most of histeammates seemed to be thinking along the same lines as Ned, expressionssmiling and full of relief. Most of them. MJ was frowning.
“Have we done research on this place?” she asked. “When wasits last health inspection? How regularly do they test the chemical compositionof the pool water? Have there been any reported cases of―”
“It’s fine,” Peter assured her. “Mr. Stark goes there allthe time. Actually, I think he might own it
”
“And there’s never been a negligent billionaire businessowner with his fingers in so many pies that he lets standards slip at one ofhis investments,” MJ replied sarcastically.
He didn’t know where to start grappling with that, but hismouth hung open, waiting for his brain to fill it with an intelligent yetsensitive response.
“Yeah, but, MJ―” Flash jumped in.
“Michelle to you,” she corrected flatly.
“―free massages!” He raised his eyebrows like she was anidiot for having any misgivings in the face of complimentary spa treatments.
MJ rolled her eyes.
“Fine, we can focus on that, in which case, I have questionsabout the staff’s training, techniques―”
“Are you serious?” Peter said, accidentally out loud. Dumbquestion; his girlfriend was always serious.
She gave him a fixed stare.
“I’d like the person who massages me to know what they’redoing. If you want to get me naked, you’ll have to convince me it’ll be worthmy time.”
He felt the heat seeping up his neck into his face.
“I don’t want
 N-notme personally
”
“I’ll do some research before we go,” Betty cheerfullyvolunteered. Peter smiled gratefully at her as she turned to face MJ, uncappingher pen and holding it poised over a pad of paper. “What were your concernsagain?”
“Happy thoughts,” Ned instructed as Peter cradled hisforehead in his hand, rattled. “Fluffy, fluffy robes.”
“Yeah,” he agreed, tone striving for levity. “Robes. Right.”
What he was really thinking about was how much trouble hewas in. If MJ was this brazen in front of their friends, how was he supposed tohang out with her at the spa? Sure, they’d found enough opportunities sincethey’d started dating to make it to second base, but actually seeing her in abathing suit was a whole different thing! The robes were Ned’s idea of acalming thought, but what did people wear underneath them? Nothing! Picturinghim and MJ in matching robes was therefore not a very calming thought.
This spa day was going to kill him.
\\
“What’s next on your itinerary?” Peter asked distractedly, leaning against one of the large lockers in the men’s changing room. It wasuncanny, being in a room full of lockers without even the faintest odour offoot sweat―this spa was a distinct step up from the locker room at school.
“Couples facial with Betty,” Ned replied happily.
Peter frowned.
“That’s a thing?”
“Yes, Peter,” Ned sighed, exasperated. “Maybe you should’vespent your time doing a more thorough scan of the veritable smorgasbord oftreatments instead of concentrating on avoiding MJ.”
Peter jerked away from the locker.
“What? Avoiding her?” He shifted his feet.
Ned sighed again.
“You can’t hide in the changing room all day.”
“I haven’t been!”
“Every time I come back here to get my water or change into swimtrunks, you’re here.”
“We’re obviously very in sync,” Peter insisted. “And I wasjust leaving.”
Ned folded his arms and stared his best friend down.
“Uh huh.”
“I am! I’m going
 swimming.”
“With your shoes on,” Ned checked, glancing down to Peter’ssneakers.
“I don’t want to contract a foot fungus. Better safe thansorry.”
“Can you even get a foot fungus?” Ned asked, lowering hisvoice and leaning closer for increased discretion. “Wouldn’t yoursuper-spider-ness protect you from something like that? Wouldn’t seem right ifyou could avoid supernatural attacks only to be felled by a foot fungus. Orwould it―”
“Bye, Ned,” Peter interrupted, and exited the room.
He did actually have his bathing suit on underneath therobe―Ned had been adamant about the robe-wearing―so he might as well headtowards the pool. Following the scent of chlorine, Peter turned down a quiethallway, lined with doors on both sides.
He could swim for hours if he had to. Just until―oh man, hewas totally avoiding MJ. He’d only seen her for about two seconds today afterthey’d arrived. Being gifted a spa day by Iron Man wasn’t the same as astandard field trip, so the team had had to make their own way here. (Peterwasn’t going to remind Mr. Stark that he’d blanked on providing transportationin luxury cars; Pepper would take care of that.) Too chicken to even sit nextto his girlfriend in the back seat of a car, Peter had waited until Abe offeredto pick up Flash, Cindy, and MJ before assuring a few of the others that hisaunt would be happy to give rides as well. This was pathetic.
Peter went to brush his hair back anxiously and bumped thecorner of his glasses, unused to them. Disoriented, he stopped walking tosettle them back into their proper position on his face. His arms tingled as helowered his hands and Peter became tense and alert. Quickly glancing around, henoticed that the door at the end of the hall was ajar. He flattened his back tothe wall and crept hurriedly and silently towards it.
The hairs on his arms were completely standing up once hewas right outside the door, so Peter pushed it open and darted inside, shiftingto a defensive posture and pulling the door closed behind him―one less escaperoute for whoever or whatever was in here with him. Besides the soothing soundtrackof wind chimes by the ocean.
Beyond the massage table dominating the space, a door at therear of the room opened and out stepped MJ, head down, tying a robe identicalto Peter’s. It was suddenly difficult to swallow.
She looked up and gasped, then sighed, hand to her chest.
“What the hell, Peter?”
“S-sorry,” he blurted, straightening up. “I thought
 therewas something
”
Peter studied his arms, confused. He’d believed that extraSpidey sense was just, like, a space donut alert system. Now it was an MJfinder? He guessed he had been thinking about her a lot lately. Possibly, theconscious fixation plus theunconscious longing that had her appearing in his dreams most nights hadtriggered some kind of biological recalibration, thereby setting the sense toprepare for hormones instead of intergalactic battle. The potential science ofit was pretty cool and Peter tried to think about that in order to maintain hisrapidly failing composure.
MJ flipped her trapped hair out of the neck of her robe. Holyshit.
“I’m still not used to the glasses,” she said, approachinghim and sounding enviably calm. “Are you self-conscious about them? Is that whyI’ve barely seen you today?”
“No, I’m not
I’m not self-conscious,” he choked out.Clearing his throat, he continued. This was a safe topic which would aid him withnot stare at her legs below the hem of the knee-length robe. “They help my eyesrelax. Dampen stimuli. Kinda like those old black goggles I had. The ones Ishowed you―”
“―when we were in your bedroom.”
Abort. That was not a neutral memory. He revisited it―ohboy, did he revisit it―but only in private, in bed at night. Sometimes in theshower. His pulse pounded unmistakeably in his groin.
“Yeah,” Peter agreed weakly. “Then.”
“I like the glasses.”
“You do?”
MJ stopped in front of him and Peter imagined the feel ofher robe’s tie in his hand as he pulled it free of the loops. It was so easy topicture.
“Mhmm, you look
They just make you look more
”
Peter caught her eye and noticed something. She wasflustered. While MJ searched for whatever she wanted to say, she shoved her handsinto the pockets of her robe; it strained the tie, slackening the fold offabric across her body to expose a larger V of her neck and chest. Petergestured awkwardly at the bared skin, then reached out, intending to fix it forher. (The swelling in his swim trunks pleaded for him to yank the materialapart.) Her hand collided with his as she went to do the same thing.
“
sexy,” MJ concluded.
Peter’s fingers slid across her skin until his palm was flaton her chest, then he brought his other hand to the back of her neck and kissedher. They held each other with shaky hands, nervous and giddy. Everything withher was still brand new. Internally, Peter felt like he was inside one of thosepaint can agitators at the hardware store―the kind that he’d seen when May hadpicked a new colour for the kitchen and dragged him along to pack-mule the cansto and from the car―but his lips were becoming more certain against MJ’s. Andhis dick was really committing to this erection, thickening with every passingsecond.
Peter was getting lost, unable to tell how theirclosed-mouth kiss had opened up to allow their tongues to meet and tangle. MJmoaned softly and he wrapped both arms around her with urgency. He wondered ifhis glasses were fogging up, like the windows in steamy movie scenes; he didn’topen his eyes to check.
Touching his face in a way that felt more profoundlyintimate than what seemed possible for the length of their relationship so far,she pressed her body closer. Oh god. Snatching a shallow breath between kisses,Peter let his hand tumble from her neck, sweeping unevenly across the plushstretch of her robe and resting on the small of her back. He didn’t push her―wouldn’t push her―just braced herlightly as his hips rolled forward. MJ gasped, tenderly tracing his earlobewith a fingertip.
Peter tilted his head forward until his forehead and hersseemed to support each other. He listened to his thumping heart, a steady bassto balance those tinkling wind chime noises. The natural ambiance of MJ’sragged breathing was magical. But everything was moving so fast. They weren’tsupposed to get this! A parental figure should have been interrupting rightabout now, or a ringing phone. A pizza delivery guy maybe.
Uncertainly, Peter took a step back, hands still on MJ’swaist. She wrapped hers around his and he opened his eyes to see her face.
“Stark booked this whole place for us, right?”
Oh, they were talking about Mr. Stark now. Peter was thrownby his girlfriend’s lack of transition. She always did like to get to thepoint, not waste words. He jiggled the corner of his glasses.
“Yeah
?”
“All day?”
“Yeah,” Peter answered with more conviction, focusing now.
“Well, then there’s no one else coming to use this room,”she informed him. “I went through the team’s treatment schedules myself.”
Just when he’d thought he was getting the gist of thisconversation.
“You’re saying
”
“I’m saying I really like the glasses.”
Yeah, her eyes were saying a lot more than that. What wasgoing on in there was much easier for Peter to follow. Like the absoluteawareness while MJ let go of his hand to draw her wavy hair forward over oneshoulder; she knew what she was doing to him. Were spa robes any good atconcealing erections? He was curious.
To give himself a second of clear thinking (which in itselfmight be wishful thinking), Peter released her waist, arms hanging at hissides.
“Are you sure?” he checked.
She rolled her eyes, but the corner of her mouth had flickedup.
“I know what I want, when I want it. So get over here.”
Rather than going to her, Peter took a deep breath andbrought her to him, guiding MJ by her hips. Before he could kiss her, she put ahand to his chest.
“Just for now,” she assured him, and plucked his glassesfrom his face.
Folding the legs in carefully, MJ set them on a counter nextto an orderly line of jars. All Peter could think about was being able to kissher more roughly without worrying about his glasses getting in the way; hedecided to make a move based on the likeliness of her thinking the same thing. Hecupped her face, touching his mouth lightly to hers only momentarily, thendiving in with a firmer pressure.
There wasn’t a clear path in his mind, but he directed MJanyway, steering her by the hand on her hip while they kissed, until the solidspa table halted them. Her lips parted as though the minor impact had sent ashockwave through her body and Peter stepped right into her space, tongueteasing the inside of her lip. Incredibly (to him), his hips weren’t shyagainst hers, pressing flush, as much as the thickness of theirever-more-irritating robes would allow.
His eyelashes fluttered on her cheek as he barely opened hiseyes.
“Did they massage you?” Peter asked quietly. The room wasvery still. Seemed like the wind chimes must have run out of breeze.
MJ’s legs shifted against his, thighs parting provocatively.
“Not everywhere.”
With a groan, he squeezed her hips, not really helping asshe perched, then wiggled onto the table. MJ continued spreading her legs soPeter could come closer and his hands skipped down to her thighs, smoothing upher skin as the fabric drew apart. He almost forgot about kissing, gaze slidingdown her body, but MJ grabbed his jaw and leaned forward, initiating somethingfiery. It made his hips jerk ahead and his fingers clenched on her legs. MJ’sother hand found the tie of his robe and quickly worked past that barrier, thenthe next―which was the tie on his swim shorts. Peter inhaled a rapid doublegasp, experiencing the wonder of her hand wrapping tentatively around hiserection. More securely after his slow moan.
He broke away from the kiss, nosing languidly below her jawand down her neck as he pushed his hands to her hips. Hypothesis confirmed: peopledid not wear anything beneath those robes. Or at least MJ didn’t. Peter shapedhis hands to the front of her hips, thumbs settling into the warm crease at thetop of her thighs where the band of her underwear would’ve been. She wasstroking him now, stoking his own heat with the warmth of her palm, and he lethis thumbs descend until he could feel her pulse thumping resolutely. By then, his hands were between her legs, covering everything but the place he waslonging to touch; Peter skated one thumb towards the middle and it was slickedwith her arousal.
MJ was breathing heavily, nudging herself against his hand,so he rotated his wrist and slipped his fingers along the track of her wetness. She shuddered, rolling her fingers against his length. Peter gave her throat awet kiss. When she tilted her hips, lifting them slightly like she wassearching for something, he made sure they came back down on his fingers, easing one inside her.
“Peter,” she said, fast and sharp, and jerked her hips forward with the same desperate haste.
He released MJ’s hip with his other hand to reach into hisswim suit and tighten her grip around him, his hand over hers. Then, Petercurled the finger he had inside her, probing gently as he got his bearings.Cautiously, darting a look up at her face, he added a second finger. She made asoft, contented sound and rocked so that his fingers sunk deeper. Peter’s hipsbucked reflexively and she gave him a short pump, his hand tense on the back ofhers.
Wetting his lip with his tongue in concentration, he hookedhis fingers more insistently, tapping her taut front wall. MJ groaned, tooloose to produce an “oh.” Peter dug in, repeating the motion she’d enjoyed, andpushed his thumb against her clit. A hissing, sucked in breath from hisgirlfriend had him feeling tingly all over―seriously, his super-senses weregoing to be even more goofed up after this. Something in him had realigned, attuning him to MJ.
He worked his fingers faster, moving with her when shecouldn’t sit still. Actually, Peter started to worry that MJ was going to falloff the massage table because she kept scooting forward, so he encouraged herto lie down, gasping as her hand disengaged from his dick. Watching hisgirlfriend on her back, he forgot about missing her grasp; her neck arched whenhe rubbed her clit in a circle and every time he thrust his fingers intoher―sneaking a look to witness them emerging glossy―she thrust the opposite wayto take them, slackening the wrap of the robe until its V stretched nearly toher waist.
Peter was fantasizing about crawling on top of MJ (only fantasizing for now because theyhadn’t really talk about that yet and he certainly didn’t have a condom at theready in the fluffy depths of his spa robe’s pocket), yearning to drag hisfingers out and plunge his cock in. He was grinning, hot and hazy in his dirtydaydream, fingers wrapped around himself while he continued to, well, massageher. The word would never be the same for him.
“Mmm, god,” shesaid, legs twitching where they hung off the edge of the table.
Hearing himself faintly echoing her less distinct butequally impassioned noises, Peter was almost living her pleasure. He kneadedher clit, bent and scooped his fingers frantically within her. MJ came with anextended moan, muffled because she pressed her lips shut, and Peter swallowedthickly like he was consuming the sound.
He removed one hand from his trunks (erection still throbbing),the other from his girlfriend’s body. Panting, Peter retied the string (wipinghis fingers on his bathing suit while he was at it), then the wider band of hisrobe, not taking his eyes off her. Body limp, MJ ran a hand across her face. Hewas mesmerized just watching her breathe.
“Help me up,” she said, voice thick and altered.
She pulled the robe closed and reached out her hands forhis, which Peter eagerly provided. Their eyes met with a sly shyness once theirfaces were level. After a minute, MJ rolled her eyes and grabbed Peter’s neck, bringinghim into a kiss. She sighed against his cheek when they leaned apart.
“You wanna trade places?” she asked as she lifted her head. Her hand went to his robe’s tie, giving a gentle tug.
Peter laughed, heart beating hard.
“Yeah, I really wantto, but Ned’s going to expect to see me at the pool after his facial.”
MJ frowned and her playfully disappointed eyes made him wantto stay that much more. Glancing at her watch―the only thing she wore, besidesthe robe―she shrugged.
“I have to meet Cindy for pedicures anyway.” They exchangedwistful smiles. He couldn’t make himself turn away, let alone walk to the door.“I’m good, Peter,” MJ said. “You should sneak out of here first. Lesssuspicious that way.”
He hesitated another few seconds, then stepped back with anod.
“Ok, but I’ll see you later. Promise,” he added when sheraised doubtful eyebrows.
Peter grabbed his glasses from the counter and put them on,comfortably dampening his vision. He glanced back at MJ on his way to the door.
“Seriously, dork, get out of here,” she urged. “Thoseglasses are testing my restraint.”
Face turning pink, Peter shot her a smile and crept warilyinto the hallway. He closed the door quietly behind him, glancing back andforth as he adjusted the overlapping fabric in front of his hips.
“Hope the pool’s cold,” Peter muttered, heading there forthe second time and wondering how many laps it was going to take to put himselfback in control of his own body.
Assuming that was possible.
Well, it was another hypothesis to test.

About echo chambers and prejudices (Or The problem with humanity)
What I am about to say is nothing new or revolutionary. I believe hundreds of people across the Internet had reached the same conclusion, are about to reach it, or will do so in the near future, but maybe this posts helps someone. Or maybe it goes unnoticed. Anyway, I feel like I have to write it, so here it goes.
The problem with us humans is that we keep dividing ourselves into tribes, smaller and smaller, and we keep dehumanizing those who are outside our own tribe. And worse, we keep using excuses to hurt others, often based on the behavior of one individual, as if they were representative of their tribe.
An example to illustrate my point: a Muslim terrorist kills 50 people in an attack, we're all so quickly to equate Muslim to terrorist. The thing is, there are bad people in all the tribes. No matter religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc., there are always going to be bad people.
You have to remember one thing, though: their evilness is often not related to their identity. Correlation does not equal causation, right? A white supremacist can use Christianity as an excuse or a shield for their harmful actions, but they would have probably committed similar things had they been born elsewhere; only those harmful actions would have taken another target.
We have to stop painting certain groups as innocent or pure by default, and certain others as evil or tainted. No matter fiction or reality, this narrative is not benefitting anyone but those who want us to keep fighting each other, so we don't turn to them and punish them for their evil actions.
Putting people in pedestals or deep holes is not useful. It's idealization or demonization, either case, it's a delusion, not reality. We are humans, we are flawed. All of us, and pretending you don't are because you're from one particular tribe is preventing you from expanding your mind and growing as a person.
I'm NOT saying we should let people who do bad things get away with them, just don't make them representatives of their tribe. If the sins of the father are not the sins of the son, the sins of the individual are theirs and theirs only.
Next time someone in your group blames everyone in another group for the actions of one individual, ask yourself why that is, who is benefitting from that. Break out of the echo chamber for a while, listen to the people you have been taught to hate. Maybe you will discover they are not what you have been told, maybe you will finally able to see the lie. Follow the money, as they say, and you will find who wants you to keep being a hateful person.
And if you are the one being hated on, observe your haters and try to understand why are they like this. Nine out of ten times, you will find out that the answer is simple: they were afraid of what they couldn't understand, and their fear has been weaponized by people with their own agendas. The question is the same, really: who benefits from this?
Understanding how they operate, their recruitment techniques, the twisted, partial data they parrot once fully converted, that's the key to know how to make them see the lie they have been fed. To make them see the wrong of their actions and thoughts. The important thing to remember is that most people can and will see their mistakes, and they will work to make amends, and to better themselves, so they don't fall for the same prejudices again.
A GC post appeared on my dashboard today. Mind you, it was not a post from anyone I follow, and I don't know why Tumblr thought I would like it, but I promptly corrected the mistake by telling this website I am not interested in a rhetoric that wants me to believe an entire group of people is inherently evil and beyond salvation or redemption. Don't care if it's GC, racism, antisemitism, or Russophobia. Whatever sort of prejudice, I AM NOT INTERESTED, and neither should you.
Not to quote Hemingway, but he was right when he said that there is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow people; true nobility is being superior to your former self. I aspire to be a better person each day passing, and it's not easy, but that doesn't keep me from trying. It's an enormous task, but we should not be discouraged just because it's hard. Just don't give up.

Family Affairs
I slunked back to Asriel and Toriel's room, feeling ashamed of what I said and did. I couldn't believe I actually went that far just to cut Toriel down, all because of what I heard her do. All the aggression towards Asgore and everyone else, all of her grave misbehavior. I swallowed my pride and went to the boss monsters to apologize. But as I entered the room, little did I know all three boss monsters were crying. They ignored my presence as I stepped inside, trying to get their attention.
Tumblr media
"Hey, excuse me." I sheepishly ebbed, trying to get their attention.
Asgore and Asriel said nothing as they looked toward my guilt-ridden face. Toriel was the only one brave enough to face me again, but she looked ready to turn to dust.
Tumblr media
"What is it that you want, sir?" She managed, feeling her tears ready to pour down like a waterfall.
"Perhaps you wanted to remind me of how horrible I am as a person? Or maybe you wish to wean this world of me? I will hold still so you may do as you wish. I no longer care how fast it happens."
Oh, fuck. Yep, I crossed the line. I accidentally made Toriel suicidal for a moment. Clearly, I went too far. I had to say something to let her know how remorseful I was of how cruel I was being with her.
Tumblr media
"Actually, I came to apologize. Not just to you, Ms. Toriel, but to your son and his majesty, King Asgore. What I said and did was unacceptable, unforgivable, and ultimately, beyond ruthless. And I believe all three of you deserve to know that you all deserve a chance to be happy. Clearly, all I did was make your lives even worse than they already were. And they were all pretty bad to start with. I don't expect you to forgive me, but I DO want you to know that I really am sorry for the way I acted. It was a horrible thing to do, and I genuinely regret it. And it's okay if you despise me now. Never really been my own biggest fan anyway."
Asgore and Asriel were so shocked at how humble I was being, they wiped their tears and faced me as more streamed downward..
Tumblr media
"Thank you for your kind words." Asgore humbly bellowed.
Tumblr media
"Admin...I never thought you could be so humble." Asriel shamefully admitted.
"Yeah. I know. I...I think Asgore probably wants to say something? Or maybe Toriel?" I requested.
Tumblr media
"Thank you. Toriel?" Asgore called.
"Yes, Asgore?" Answered Toriel as she raised her head enough to face the king.
"It is true what he said, is it not?"
"Yes, it is. Asriel and I have been having incest with each other."
"And it is also true what you have said, correct?"
Tumblr media
"Yes. I am in love with Asriel. My own son. He...he makes me happy, Asgore. Whenever I'm around him, I just...feel safe and happy and just all around a better person than I really am. I know what I have done in the past, but it's because of my past behavior that I have become VERY unhappy. For the longest time. I know I act like it doesn't bother me, but the truth is I have been unhappy for a long time. Ever since our children died, I contemplated ending it all just as you have. I have destroyed countless lives, and it ruined my joy forever. But with Asriel, I feel like I recovered a small piece of it, and...I just want to hold onto it as tightly as I can, and never let go for even a second."
"Toriel. I..."
Asgore was shocked at what she said. She was just as devastated at the consequences of the past as he was. He couldn't remain scorned. He forgave her.
"Have you really felt like this?"
"Yes, Asgore, I have. Once, Sans had to stop me because it got so bad. Because I became so unfathomably depressed."
"Well, Toriel...all I want is for you to be happy. Listen. If our son makes you happy, then this is the last time I stand between you two, as long as Asriel also wants this."
Tumblr media
"Dad, I don't know how to say this without sounding gross, but...I'm in love with mom." Asriel humbly declared.
"She...means the world to me. I can't even think of a single day in which I'm not happy to see her, except for when I was soulless. I love her like Frisk and Chara love each other: completely, and with no regrets. I just...can't be without her anymore. We look into each other, and we see ourselves. I've never...felt this way for anyone before. But I get it if you're dissappointed in me. I am too. With what I did and said, that would be guaranteed at this point."
"Asriel. Listen. All I want for you and Toriel is your happiness. And so, despite my personal views upon this union, for you two, I shall cast them aside."
Asgore and Asriel shared a tear-filled hug, reconciling from before. Truly a turning point for tonight after my serious bombshell.
"Now then...if you two are going to be affectionate in public, your real names cannot be stated, or people will find out what you are doing. That being said, perhaps you two have alternate identities?"
Tumblr media
"Actually yes, we do." Toriel said, feeling a little better than before.
"When Asriel and I choose to be intimate in public, he is to be called 'Dante' when I am with him. I, however, have the name 'Phoebe'. We use these names around people who don't know us. In addition, I stop speaking how I do when I'm being polite. I change my tone and use of words to avoid suspicion. We have both been very careful to not let a great many people know about what we do. If they do know, most of them have no idea we are mother and son. The ones that DO know have done an excellent job of keeping silent. Only Frisk, Chara, Asriel and I speak of it at leisure in my or Frisk's home."
"Interesting. So what you're saying is you're constantly hiding your relationship in plain sight? But then, why were you here tonight? Why were you not at your house?"
"Because I missed him. I simply wanted to be with him, in more ways than one."
"Well, I'm glad we have finally settled this. But, I do have one request for you and Asriel."
"Really? What is it?"
"I want to watch you both just this once as you consummate your relationship."
Toriel blushed at the thought of being watched whie she was having sex with Asriel. As for me, I looked away awkwardly as I kept my mouth shut, too scared to say another word.
"I'm...actually flattered, Asgore. I always wanted to be watched while I have sex. And the fact that it's by someone who knows my body inside and out is simply too much to pass up. So...that will be perfect for me. Asriel?"
"If you really wanna watch...then get ready to see how a REAL man pleases a beautiful woman such as mom." Asriel said, casting aside his self-pitying bout.
"As much as I'd love to watch two or three boss monsters get busy, I'm tired, guys. Think I'm gonna go to bed." I said, leaving the room with a clearer conscience.
I was glad to bring her back from the edge, and I'm happy that she's actually feeling...well, HAPPY, but...I don't think I should be such an asshole to her anymore. If her ice is this thin, then from now on, I better tread carefully, or I'll break it...

The Fair Ones Don't Play Fair (Elsewhere University x RPDR Crossover) 1/8 - Wednesday Angeline
A/N: crossover fic, university and fantasy AU. The Elsewhere University universe (by Sam, @charminglyantiquated, official blog located at @elsewhereuniversity) but with drag race characters, because Elsewhere University has absolutely sucked me in. I also threw in a few of my OCs, I hope that’s okay :) I’ve tried to make everything as accurate to Elsewhere U as possible, but I may have missed a few things, please do correct me! Feel free to message me with feedback or questions @wednesday-angeline :)
Chapter 1
Courtney looked around. Elsewhere University was bigger than she expected. She tapped her foot, waiting for her resident ambassador to fetch her to her dorm. A young woman walked up to her, her messy blonde hair glinting in the sunlight.
“Hi! Lovely to meet you, my name is Alaska. I’m your RA,” the blonde greeted in a low drawl. “What do you go by?”
“Courtney, nice to meet you,” she replied. The name felt weird on her tongue, unfamiliar. She missed being called Shania Jenek, her Name and identity much more comfortable to her. But her sister had warned her that she could never reveal it- there would be consequences. It sounded sketchy, but she just accepted it as part of the university traditions. “What do you major in?”
“I majored in fashion and graduated a few years ago. I’m doing a postgrad course online,” Alaska said, motioning for Courtney to follow her.
“Oh, that’s cool! I’m doing my bachelor’s in art,” Courtney trudged along, pulling her lime green suitcase. “How many people will be in our dorm?”
“Eight students, and me. There’s two freshmen, you and Adore. You’ll get to meet her later. Here, take this, wear it at all times and immediately replace the items if you lose any of them.” Without looking back, Alaska handed her a white drawstring pouch with a long leather string. Courtney noticed that the RA herself had one around her neck, like a lanyard.
She glanced inside the pouch before following Alaska hurriedly. She vaguely saw a few bolts and salt packets. That was weird. “Thanks? What is it for?”
“Don’t say that. I’ll answer later, we need to get you settled down first, alright? I’ll explain the rules to the two of you. Just beyond the business building.” Alaska gestured.
–
“Everyone, this is Courtney,” Alaska called as they stepped into the dormitory. It was small but cozy. “I’ll let her unpack first, you can introduce yourselves later.”
They walked down the coridor, and arrived at dorm 208. “Here you go. Lakynn is your roommate, the two of you can get acquainted.” Alaska opened the door, allowing Courtney to enter with her suitcase.
A skinny redheaded girl looked up from her laptop, sitting cross-legged on her bed. “Hi, I’m Lakynn.” A small smile appeared on her face.
“I’m Courtney.” Courtney opened her suitcase as Alaska closed the door behind them. “I brought some cookies, you want some?”
A troubled look crossed Lakynn’s face. “They’re gluten-free and vegan,” Courtney added.
“I’ll e-mail you the rules first, and then maybe you’ll understand. Can you enter your e-mail address here if you don’t mind?” Lakynn turned her laptop towards Courtney.
What a strange girl, Courtney thought, as she typed her new e-mail out. She had to set up a new one prior to arriving at the school, her old one containing her Name. She opened her own laptop, sitting on the newly-made bed.
“The email is sent, read it as soon as possible. You have the rest of the day to unpack.”
“Tha-”
“It’s no trouble.”
Courtney opened the email. Unofficial student guide for freshmen. Mandatory for art, music, history and English students. Strongly recommended for journalism and chemistry students. Optional for all others.
You should already know this. Never reveal your Name, the one that your loved ones call you and that your identity is linked to. Go by something else, preferably as far from your Name as possible.
Always keep salt, iron and rowan, vervain or hazel on you for safety. Ramen flavoring is handy in a pinch. Some in your room as well. Leave some coffee creamer outside each night for Them, or anything similarly creamy. Butter will do. Always keep some with you.
If you refer to Them at all, speak in positive terms - the Fair Folk or the Gentry. Never directly refer to them as the Fae. Do not stare too long at shadows - what is seen cannot be unseen.
Never use the words “please”, “thank you” or “I’m sorry” for these indicate that you are in debt and owe favors. Instead, say “if you don’t mind”, “you’re very kind”, “pardon me”. When gifting something without need for a returned favor, note that they are freely given.
Oh.
“Um, the cookies are freely given,” Courtney said. Lakynn smiled as she looked up again from her computer. Courtney handed the ziploc baggie to the redhead.
“I appreciate it very much. I’m a chemistry student, by the way. And you?”
“Art, I’m really excited! I hope the professor will be nice.”
Lakynn tapped her fingers on her chin. “I believe professor Bianca teaches art. She also teaches some fashion classes. She’s nice enough if you’re well-behaved. And you’ll probably get Miss Betty as well. I’ve heard from Bella that her temper is quite erratic - their class nicknames her Acid, so I’d advise you to watch out. I’ve only seen her around campus myself.”
“Ah, is Bella a student?”
Lakynn nodded. “She’s in 504 with Eira. She’s doing her masters in art, and Eira is doing chemistry and fashion.” She nibbled the cookie. “These are delicious.”
“Th- you’re very nice for the compliment,” Courtney beamed. “I spent three years perfecting the recipe.”
“I’ll leave you to your unpacking now. Remember to check the pouch Alaska gave you - you can ask me if you’re missing anything. Also, to read the rest of the rules sometime tonight. Dinner’s at seven in the dining room, you’ll meet everyone else there.” Lakynn returned to her laptop.
–
“First, let’s welcome our new students, Adore and Courtney,” Alaska introduced, when the last youth was sat at the dining table.
Courtney waved, and so did a baby-faced boy, grinning at everyone. A chorus of “hi” echoed the room.
“Everyone, introduce yourselves while you dig in! I’ll go first,” Alaska instructed. “You’ve both met me - I’m Alaska, your RA, and I’m here to guide and care for you. I majored in fashion when I was a student. You can come to me for any help. Oh, and I’m also a huge fan of snakes, so just let me know if you don’t like them.”
“I’m Jane,” the boy next to Alaska greeted. He had dreadlocks, and a quill tattooed on his left wrist. “I study English and it’s my third year here. I’m Eira’s boyfriend and I like writing in my spare time. I also study linguistics, and I’m rooming with Adore.”
The girl next to him was munching on her beef until Jane nudged her. “Oh, pardon me! I’m Eira, I’m doing chem and fashion and I really like both. Hit me up if you want to talk shit. Or whatever.” She shrugged, twirling a pigtail. “My name’s Welsh but I’m from Japan.”
“I’m Katya, I room with Tyra and she’s like my mum. Or maybe it’s the other way round. Mother, I’m thinking of being a mother again,” the young woman next to Eira drawled, laughing at her own impersonation. Of what, Courtney doesn’t know. Her blonde bob only made her seem weirder, even in such a strange school. “I’m from Russia and I’m doing my teaching degree. I can also teach yoga and do the splits.” She smiled from ear to ear.
“We know, Katya, you tell us every other night,” Eira said, rolling her eyes.
Lakynn ignored the two of them and spoke up. “My name is Lakynn, I’m a chemistry student and I room with Courtney. I’m rather shy but I’m friendly, I promise.” She continued to pick at her food.
“Hi I’m Adore! I’m doing art and fashion and I’m totally hyped, everything is going to be fucking dope! Party!” The new boy said enthusiastically, reaching for another slice of pizza.
It was Courtney’s turn. “I’m Courtney and I’m from Australia. I’m doing art and it’s lovely to meet everyone, you all seem very nice.”
The girl on the other side of Courtney nodded. “I’m Tyra,” she said, her eyes black and dull as unpolished onyx. It was unsettling, although the girl herself seemed kind. “I major in music. I like reading.” She shrugged, gesturing for the next, and last, student to speak.
She was another blonde, with an air of fragility about her despite being average-sized and tall. “My name is Bella, and I’m on my second year for an art degree.” Courtney could swear that her blue eyes glinted pink in the light. She looked away immediately. “I like music, and sports. All kinds of sports. It’s good to meet you two.”
“Everyone help the freshies settle in as comfortably as possible over the next few weeks. To a new year!” Alaska raised her glass, and the rest of the dorm followed suit.
–
“Adore and Courtney, I’d like to speak with the two of you in my room if it’s okay,” Alaska called as they piled up the dishes for the caterers to collect.
As soon as they were all seated on Alaska’s bed, the two freshmen crossed-leg on one side and Alaska on the other, she crossed her arms. “I’m guessing neither of you have finished reading the rules?”
The two students shook their heads guiltily.
Alaska giggled. “It’s okay, don’t worry. But it would be a good idea to finish it tonight or at the latest, tomorrow. Anyway, have you noticed anything weird about any of the dorm students?”
“Uh-” Courtney’s voice lowered to a whisper. “It’s probably my glitching vision but Bella’s eyes turn pink in light?”
Alaska nodded. “Anything else?”
“Tyra’s eyes. They’re weird too. But she’s nice, very quiet but nice,” Adore mused.
“Tyra is from the Gentry. You can ask her more about it, she doesn’t mind as long as you are polite. She’s one of the few nicer Ones. Bella, on the other hand, isn’t one of Them. She had, however, won over one of Them fairly last year. It’s better for you to know this beforehand. Before you sleep, you should sprinkle salt around your bed and on the windowsill as well as near the door. Salt lines are very important if you want to be safe here. And hammer in iron nails if they are missing, Only one who doesn’t do it is Tyra because she doesn’t need to. Also why we don’t eat anything with salt as seasoning. Hopefully it’s not too much of an inconvenience.”
“It’s cool,” Adore said, grinning. “She seems super cool, these Gentry people sound fuckin cool as well! And anything’s good as long as there’s pizza.”
“Adore, don’t seek out the Gentry if that’s what you’re planning. Tyra is okay, because she’s rather open and she tends to give information freely instead of making deals, but you really don’t want to mess with Them,” Alaska warned, turning solemn. “Remember what the rules said. Don’t go seeking out the unknown, don’t stare too long, there are consequences, and some situations that even I can’t save you from.” She looked down for a moment, and her eyes seemed to sadden.
“We won’t, Alaska, don’t worry,” Courtney said, at a loss for words to comfort the RA.
Alaska looked up, face morphed into an expressionless mask. “I’ve told this story to every freshman I’ve welcomed and it’s always been a sound lesson, so here goes. There was this girl, Willam, a few years ago, from this dorm. A music student, very bright and outgoing, but too careless for her own good. Her singing enticed a few of the Gentry, and they befriended her. They made a deal with her one day- I’m not sure of the details, but she was taken away.” Alaska bit her lip. “She was also my girlfriend. That’s why I don’t want either of you getting stupid ideas of making deals with Them. Never ends well for you or your loved ones.”
There was a long, awkward pause. There always was.
“Anyway- I’ll leave you two to mingle with everyone. Remember to read the rules! Good night.”
A/N 2: Alaska and Willam’s relationship inspired by “Fairytale” by Alexander Rybak :) I hope you liked the fic! Just a side note- everyone is cisgender besides Adore, who is genderfluid.
