Anyway I’m definitely still thinking about how Tim told Bernard to hide and just ran straight at the chaos monster to fight them as a civilian
And like, we know Bernard was taken by the monster but how scared do you think he was to see his friend/date just run at that thing like?? They straight up just saw it kill a waiter at the restaurant and then Tim tells him to hide and launches himself at it???
So just imagine Bernard hiding under the table, worried out of his mind for Tim, and then the chaos monster rips the table away and snatches him-and as the monster takes him away he just sees Tim’s body crumpled on the floor, limp. Like, we as the audience know Tim was just taken out by chloroform powder and is merely knocked out-but I assume Bernard missed all that and, even if he did see it, would have no idea what the powder was or what it did: it could have easily just been poison or something!
So anyway, Bernard struggling in the chaos monsters hold, fighting for all he’s worth and screaming Tim’s name, trying to reach him as the monster takes him away-not even sure if Tim is still alive, but fighting to get to him.

Idk, studying and analyzing characters with obscurities is extremely fun and important even. Many classic novels explore the minds of characters. And I believe it's important for the mangaka to not give a prognosis to continue this analysis and it allows for spontaneity in the characters. And there are some correlations to real life diagnosis. (although I don't think she really cares about psychology or sociology cuz then she wouldn't be a mangaka) However, symptoms aren't a diagnosis and that just makes it even more fascinating.
However there are already negative troupes being portrayed in the manga. Ie midairi's behavior may be labeled as psychotic, it certainly isn't "normal". Anime is made up and anyone can be anything. I would hope that no one is actually taking information on personality disorders from a manga. However, I do believe I read a thread where a psych major (not an actual Dr obviously) pretty much agreed that there was some disorder going on. I mean truthfully you don't need any formal training to analyze a character. And characters can't be diagnosed since they aren't real. And besides that ruins the fun. I think it's important to dive in and make correlations. Especially with mind oriented animes like death note and the such.
“Characters can’t be diagnosed since they aren’t real.”
Exactly. Then why are you using real terms that indicate real illnesses on them?
“It’s extremely fun.” Honestly, this is so disgusting to hear. Why would you let someone else’s REAL mental illness offer entertainment to you through fictional media?
Of all the things one can do as a creator to stimulate analisys of the characters and such, I can assure you this is not what you want to do and I say this as someone who also wants to be a creator and who has learnt through others’ mistakes, mistakes that have been repeated for ages.
(CW for gross misrapresentation of DID and psychopathy in media, brief mention of suicidal tendencies and psychiatric clinics)
For an instance; of those who didn’t read it and thus ignored the presence of the “potion” in the plot, many believed and still believe that the protagonist of “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde” is affected by what was once called Multiple Personality Disorder. There are two personality in one person, why would anyone call it something different?
Because that’s not how that disorder, now called Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), works! DID stems from continuous and repetitive abuse between the age of 7 and 9 years, when the personality of the individual is supposed to form. Instead, because of that truama, the personality develops a “system” of alters, each with the very precise function of protecting the individual from further external abuse. Consequently, it’s a gross mistake to believe one alter (that is, a part of the system different from the host) able to be a killer or anyways someone who would hurt others “just because”, as it would put the host in great danger.
(I chose DID as an example because I only recently learnt about it. I’m not an expert nor do I have DID myself, but to know more, check out this or this channel)
That book was written in 1886. “Psycho” came out in 1960. “Split” came out in 2016 and guess what? They all make the same mistake, which perpetrates the stigma and the idea that people with DID are dangerous only because it’s “”fun”” and “”entertaining””.
Maybe it is for some (ignorant) neurotypical people, but I’m fairly sure that’s not the same for those actually affected by this disorder. If you have to rapresent it, and you want to inform and entertain others, why not talk about that australian girl who became a lawyer and thanks to her 2500 alters managed to send her abuser in prison for 30 years?
If you have to rapresent someone with psycopathy, why use a Ted Bundy documentary or show a young woman incapable of accepting one’s love without forcing her lover to jump off the fifth floor of a tower? Do all people affected by psychopathy usually do shit like masturbating in a public restroom after they tried to blow their head off? Of course not, but when talking about it, do you think people will think about that grandiouse gesture or about the poor guy with a therapist who as much as he tried to, didn’t manage to keep his girlfriend because although innocuous his disorder was putting a strain on their relationship?
Actual people, real people with disorders are people too, and they deserve something better than to be connected to such negative examples. It’s the same reason why the abandoned psychiatric hospital in horrors is an awful thrope. Clinics like that are supposed to be a refuge for the mentally ill. Why should a person with suicidal tendencies be afraid of going to one, only because the main rapresentation society got is that it’s a place for dangerous and heavily mentally deranged monsters?
I said it before and I’ll say it again: it’s disgusting to hear that someone is entertained by such things.
You want to make theories about your faves? Sure, but leave out mental illnesses. Lore exists. Canon facts exist and if one needs to rely on mental disorders to explain certain things, if they feel like that is even an option in the first place, maybe they should either change their mentality or choose a different piece of media.
All this is to explain why I refuse to talk of fictional characters in such a manner and why I will not accept such talks in my social medias spaces. I won’t come for anyone’s throat if they do the contrary, but I certainly won’t support them.
I apologise about the long reply; but I hope I proved my point and that I was able to educate those who are actually interested in this issue.

To distract myself from this awful political scene I'm forced to watch for history class: can you give us some obscure side characters (like, Dr. Diminutive, Newton the Gnu, type characters) you absolutely love for no reason? :) <3
Okay I am literally so late because I was doing my chem reading and my writing hw BUT I can’t refuse a chance to scream about my favorite characters (but y’all can refuse to listen to my scream about them so here’s a cut)
First of all, I want you to know that I haven’t even started listing characters yet and this ask has already lead me to spend almost $4 on Agent P’s Guide to Fighting Evil and that’s why I don’t look at the PnF wiki when I’m tired thank you for coming to my TED talk
I almost feel like I’m cheating by starting with Dr. Diminuitve but HOW CAN I NOT LIKE TELL ME THAT LIL MAN IS NOT THE BEST CHARACTER THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN OKAY FUCKIN DO IT JUST KIDDING YOU CAN’T I mean come on, one of his first lines was literally “I don’t have a Napoleon complex; Napoleon had a ME complex!” I had to check the wiki to see if that was his first line ever and I’m very disappointed that it wasn’t and then in OWCA’s Going Down when all the evil scientists were just vibin against the fence and they started doing that West Side Story snappy walk and Diminutive was so into the snaps that he just didn’t fucking move and then he opened his eyes and the rest of the gang was halfway off the screen fjdskhfkalsfhaskl I just really love him okay the more I think about it the more convinced I am that he’s actually my favorite character
Idk if this counts as an obscure side character but he is incredibly underrated so I gotta throw in: LAWRENCE FUCKING FLETCHER. He’s just such a pure and innocent lil dude. He sees the boys doing dangerous shit and he’s just like, “Well that’s happening,” or better yet, “Hey, that looks fun!” I mean, the airplace? The flying carpet? The monster trucks? He genuinely gives zero fucks and I love him for it. I wholeheartedly believe that Lawrence knows Perry is a secret agent -- or at least that he’s smarter than he acts -- but he’s literally so indifferent to everything going on around him that he never mentions it because life is full of fun and exciting things like that and he can’t talk about them all, you know? And he gets so excited about his antiques and he’s so passionate about history and ughhhh I love him
I was about to say I feel like I’m cheating by using a special but it just occurred to me that that’s lowkey how I’ve prefaced all of these so no, fuck that, I’m using a special and that’s just how it’s gonna be. CARL FROM THE LAND OF INTERNUS WOULD HAVE MADE A MUCH BETTER ENDING THAN THE ACTUAL BOOK HAD AND FUCK YOU MONOGRAM FOR CUTTING CARL OFF BEFORE HE COULD TELL IT HOW HE WANTED TO
These two kinda go hand-in-hand but Bunka Da Bunkaquan and Sweary the Swan are my favorite alternative Perrys. As far as the specials go, Steampunx isn’t one of my favorites, but Sweary the Swan is just... How do you even describe Sweary the Swan? He is life. He is the reason I wake up in the morning. He is the only thing worth living for. And then Bunka Da Bunkaquan is just so fuckin cute and anyone who disagrees needs their eyes checked. And tbh while we’re talking about Tri-Stone area, I gotta throw in a mention of Doofengung no of course I didn’t have to google what his name was what are you talking about because I love how he just stares at the water and every time it drips he just fuckin cackles lmaooo
Okay one more special (maybe) but Doofenshmirtz in The Temple of Juatchadoon brooo I just googled it to make sure I spelled that right and I did woah my power is unmatched is lowkey my favorite Doofenshmirtz. I don’t know if it’s because I actually like him more than every other Doof or if it’s just because his first scene was with Phineas Ohio Flynn and they knew each other and they had actual interactions throughout the episode and the Doof/Phineas relationship is my favorite underexplored relationship, but Juatchadoon Doof makes the list anyway
The “what did you think, _________ was just going to fall out of the sky?” couple — who 100% deserved that cameo in catu
I’m almost afraid to say this in public, but I actually really like Roger. I was mostly indifferent to him at first, but then Delivery for Destiny happened and I was like wait a minute, why am I sleeping on his man who literally orders boxes just to give to his cat? And once I realized that he was kinda cool, it started sinking in that he was never actually a bad guy. Heinz never even really claimed he was -- if anything, his problem is that Roger isn’t a bad guy, and everyone in Gimmelshtump and Danville knows it. And I gotta give Roger credit for not being too harsh on his brother, because yeah, he can be a little stuck up (I’m looking at you, stupid golf game), but you can’t really blame him for thinking he’s better than Heinz, you know? But at least he’s not a dick about it like their parents are. Also the entire latter half of this paragraph was me trying to find a way to work in the other part of that scene with the cat box and it didn’t work so I’m just gonna tack it on to the end because this isn’t an essay for English class and I can do that lmao. Paul mentions that he just delivered something to a Heinz Doofenshmirtz, and Roger is like 😬 because let’s be real, no one wants to be represented by the type of dude to try to juice City Hall, but he’s obviously not going to say that because he’s still a respectful dude, so he’s just like “Charming... man... isn’t he...” and he’s literally so uncomfortable and it cracks me up every time but also it’s lowkey kinda wholesome because Heinz may make it his life mission to embarrass his brother but Roger doesn’t reciprocate. but I accidentally discovered a few weeks ago that John O’Hurley is a raging Trump supporter so I gotta dock points for that one
In the same vein, Paul the delivery guy. What more do I have to say?
If my love of Roger didn’t turn the world against me, this one probably will, but I’m going to say it loud and proud anyway. I LOVE PETER THE PANDA. He’s just??? so??? cute??? Like when he was tearing apart Doof’s inator and he was just... actually no scratch that I need pictures for this because I can’t explain this in words
THIS IS NOT EITHER OF THE PICTURES I WAS LOOKING FOR BUT LOOK AT THIS LITTLE GUY OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
Peter really said “this bitch empty, YEET!”
okay but the ones I was actually looking for are...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean, how can you not find him adorable? And don’t even get me started on his relationship with Perry because Meapless in Seattle was just... B R O Perry flew halfway across the country (probably I mean idk where exactly Danville is but they use EST so Seattle is probably halfway across the country?) just to go grab a coffee with him. They went on a lil date at a fancy restaurant I know Dan said it wasn’t a date but he's been wrong in the tiktok comments before which means none of his opinions are canon lmao. They’re just? So? Cute? I don’t even know what to make of their relationship but I live for it.
And I can’t mention Peter without bringing up his nemesis, who, to be entirely honest, I also don’t know what to make of and he’s mostly on this list because I like the line “How did you get chorus girls in here?” and when I downloaded and cut a bunch of songs that you can download from Google Drive here if you want, I specifically kept that part in because I love it lmao (I do gotta point out tho because it’s been bugging me since I last watched the episode: I don’t think we have any proof that Professor Mystery even exists in the PnF dimension. I had just assumed he did for the longest time, but that entire episode takes place in a dimension where Lawrence is a polar bear. Who knows what other differences there are?)
I love all the grandparents and I don’t even have an explanation they’re just all adorable
Okay I know I said no more specials but TECHNICALLY at2d isn’t a special; it’s a movie. I am physically incapable of not brining up the muffin time Normbot and the “I use aggression to mask my insecurites” Normbot.
While we’re talking about Norm, his old head would 100% swear all the fucking time if it wasn’t a kids’ show and i gotta respect it
Dan Povenmire does one line for a dude named Vinnie in Mission Marvel and off the top of my head I don’t remember who he is but it was the beginning of the episode and I think (?) it was during the New York scene and he does it in the Vinnie Dakota voice long before Dakota was even a concept (I’m assuming) so he gets a mention
Jerry the Platypus gives me Paper Jam Dipper vibes and they are both valid as fuck (the fucked up Doof copy is not valid as fuck tho we’re gonna pretend he didn’t exist)
Don is literally the best part of Where’s Pinky and I’m not just saying that because I’ve been watching Whose Line for years and I was super excited to see Wayne Brady in the credits (and the fact that he was also in both the quarantine rap and catu makes me incredibly happy)
Ooh I almost forgot OWCA Files existed but Harry the Hyena playing the trumpet and the subsequent “you’re gonna be wearing that in a minute” is the best part of OWCA Files and tbh just Doof, Perry, and Harry could have carried an entire series by themselves (though I do also love Karen and Maggie)
WAIT A SECOND THE BUG TRIO FJDSAHFLKSAJD I was trying to pick a favorite last time I watched OWCA Files and every time one of them spoke they were my new favorite like I lowkey thought their plotline was boring but the characters themselves were hilarious
WAIT ANOTHER SECOND HOW DID I GET THIS FAR INTO THE LIST WITHOUT MENTIONING MONTY HOLY SHIT I’M SUCH A FAKE FAN BUT I LOVE MONTY OKAY HE IS LITERALLY JUST OZ FROM BTVS EXCEPT MONTY AND VANESSA HAVE BETTER CHEMISTRY THAN OZ AND WILLOW AND NO I WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING CRITICISM
Wait I forgot Vlorkel too omfg these two belong way higher on the list but Vlorkel is the love of my life (and I lowkey wish she had met Steve the giant chameleon because they would have become best friends)
I wanna keep going but it’s currently 1:45 in the morning (this is why I’ve been avoiding asks during the day: I get way too into them and spend a solid hour and a half on them and I’d never get any schoolwork done lmao) and it’s far from the first time I’ve stayed up this late but I figured it was fine because I have no classes tomorrow but it occurred to me like four seconds ago that I DO HAVE A CLASS TOMORROW SHIIIIT I had an anatomy exam on Tuesday during my usual class time (which if you read my tags you might have known about because I was having an existential crisis over it) so he moved our class tomorrow excePT IT’S NOT TOMORROW IT’S TODAY IT’S LITERALLY IN LESS THAN SEVEN HOURS FUCKING HELL I GOTTA GO TO BED ASAP

9, 13, 14, 20? :O
9. Are you more of a drabble or a longfic kind of writer? Pantser or plotter? Do you wish you were the other?
ALAS I AM APPARENTLY A LONGFIC WRITER,,,, or like, a very short tiny vignette, no in-between.  I used to be incapable of writing anything long (all my shit from like 2007-2012 was under like 5k pretty much), but now it’s like. fuck! every story i want to write ends up spiralling out into like 50k+ projects /o\ I’m definitely a plotter. I wish I could be more spontaneous, but I do much, much better when I have some kind of endgame in mind. I can kinda fudge the middle, but the beginning and end have to be set :/
13. Do you share your writing online? (Drop a link!) Do you have projects you’ve kept just for yourself?
yep! here’s my ao3, which is pretty much just mdzs right now, but I’ve got some Saint Seiya stuff planned 👀 truly getting ready to return to my roots. saint seiya was the first fandom i wrote for! :D if you’re looking for my tumblr ficlets, I believe the tag is #myficlet
however, in terms of original prose and poetry, it mostly all just stays in folders on my hard drive. :’D I’ve entered some poetry and prose into local writing contests and won before, so my work exists out in the ether, but one day I’d like to have published books :’) I have so much poetry that kind of just sits around, and i’m like maybe?? it would be cool to share some of it? but all of it needs more editing and refining, I almost never edit my poetry it just kinda comes out in a mess and then I don’t look at it for years, so none of it is like good. a lot of it has potential, I think, but I have like, maaaaybe one poem that I would say is almost good lol.
I have like five nano novels hanging out as well, so just like. hundreds of k of words stacked up over the last decade and a half :’D
14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
depends! sometimes I think of a title and a concept at the same time and try to weave them together. sometimes it comes in the middle, and sometimes I’m scrambling right at the end. sometimes I’m struggling for the whole fucking time (me with lxc fic right now good god this title has been eluding me for MONTHS)
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you’ve included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
okay, since you’re the one asking, I’m going to talk about my painting selections in this little tumblr not-fic i wrote about hyoshun even though I know you don’t really do the classic series, but hey.
I’ve seen both Aivazovsky’s Ninth Wave and Repin’s Sadko in person, but I’ve studied all of the paintings that were included. I’ve never been to the Tretyakov, so I haven’t seen any of those in person, but GOD i want to. All of the paintings that I talked about are some of my favorite 19th century russian works except Sadko, which is nice, but not like, one of my favorites. I just like it.
here is why I chose those works in particular:
1. Aivazovsky’s Ninth Wave is a fucking experience to witness. It’s impossible to convey the presence of it, the size of it, on a computer screen. you feel swallowed up by the ocean and the light and the terror and the beauty of it--even as you face death, you also face the sun. you know, just like. peak sublime. I really think Shun would find the concept of the sublime very moving, given what we see of his character in canon: he cares, deeply and viscerally about the inherent value of life, but sees himself as small within it. And I don’t necessarily think that scares him so much as it awes him sometimes. He knows his own value and strength, respects risk, and respects sacrifice. I think would relate a lot to the Romantic artists who looked out at the vastness of the world and reacted with wonder and terror.
I think Shun very much feels a deep sense of wonder at being alive, of existing, and that he takes that very seriously. idk, there’s that moment at the 12 temples, when he stops to smell the roses at Aphrodite’s temple. it’s like, yeah, we’re in the midst of fighting for our lives, but god. there is such beauty here. facing the sun even as you face death. I think he would like that painting a lot.
2. Knowing Repin’s other work, I find the Sadko really beautiful and charming and surprising! It’s such a fun subject for a painting--instead of painting a religious scene, it’s a scene from a bylina, about a man named Sadko. I believe here is the scene where he’s asked to choose a wife from a line of beautiful sea maidens, but all he wants is to return to the surface and live with his human wife that he loves so much. and it’s okay! he does! the painting is lovely and just really visually stunning. and there’s something really moving about the way that sadko has eyes only for his wife on the surface, dressed in plain clothes, out of reach, even as these dazzling women laden with jewels parade before him. aaaaaaaaaa. anyways, I think Shun would like this painting too, for those reasons!!
3. Now the Tretyakov paintings that I’ve never seen, but GOD they just. they get me right in the heart. first, Conscience, Judas, by Nikolai Ge. it’s hard for me to describe exactly what I’m feeling when I look at it, but that really vicious white on Judas’s robe, the coldness of it, the alienation of a traitor. I want to weep for judas. I am not christian, so my interpretations of the bible are largely moot and uninformed, but I’ve always been intrigued by the thought that like--without judas’ betrayal, christ could not have risen. without the fall, there cannot be a triumph. that doesn’t mean that judas was acting for that reason, i certainly don’t know enough about biblical studies to make any kind of interpretation, but in the sense that like--christ had to fall and judas was the instrument of it. imagine the remorse of knowing. there’s something very human and sad about watching everything you loved and betrayed walk away from you into the darkness while you are left behind. without you, it could never have happened. i don’t know. there’s something about the nature of unforgiveable sins in there. i think about Shun’s speech to Balron Lune and I think he would feel some kind of way looking at this painting.
4. Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, by Perov--this painting kills me every time i see it. again, not christian, but like. the agony of christ. god. the nature of sacrifice. knowing that you must suffer and die, but oh! you would rather live, please if only you could live. let this cup pass me by. that on its own is already so much to sit with. and I think Shun, as well as the other saints, for very obvious reasons, probably have a lot of complicated emotions surrounding the concept of sacrifice and doubt. and idk, whenever there’s a moment when you feel like you are reaching through time and space to realize that someone out there has felt the way you are feeling, it’s like. that’s a lot. it hurts.
5. The Demon Seated, Vrubel: aaaaaaaaaaa. one of my favorite paintings!!! the demon is beautiful, and the demon is terribly melancholic, and the demon is alone, and the demon is powerful sitting amidst the blooming flowers and the setting sun. the gentle face in contrast with the muscular body. the inherent negative aspect of a demon in contrast with the subject’s heroism. I think that this would remind shun very much of his own brother, who is so angry and violent and dark, but whom he still sees as gentle and loving still. i think shun would look at this painting and see ikki sitting there, alone, watching the sunset on some distant shore. as for hyoga, I think it would be hard for him to see this without seeing shun after the hades arc: a kind and beautiful man, a demon by nature not by choice. someone soft made unwillingly hard. a murderer who would ferry even centipedes out of the house to safety.
ANYWAYS. I LOVE ART and i project all my feelings onto shun thank you for coming to my ted talk

☕️ grid girls (sorry if you already made a post about it? i didn’t see your opinion)
no I didn’t really say anything about it because I assume no one cares about my opinion lol but anyway
I’ve always been against the use of grid girls because I guess I was a feminist sheeple and never really thought much about it but since 2017 turned me into a massively cynical bitch, I don’t care whether grid girls exist or not. grid girls aren’t the problem. I don’t think taking gigs away from models is empowering women. the problem is weirdos like darren heath taking pictures of grid girls’ asses and posting them on twitter, or motorsport .com making a “paddock beauties” gallery like they’re props, or sebastian getting enraged over “grid men” or nico calling them “eye-jewelry” or carmen fucking jorda saying women are incapable of competing against men. I think removing grid girls because men can’t behave is like sending a girl home from school because her skirt is an inch too short. does that make sense???
If we wanna empower women and make motorsports more inclusive I think we should focus our efforts on things like Susie’s DTBD initiative, encourage more female drivers/engineers, and let models do the job they chose to do and are paid for. also I’m not saying I support the use of grid girls, I literally don’t care one way or the other. the creeps of reddit and facebook can just watch porn idk why they’re so upset that they no longer get 20 seconds of tits on sundays lmfao. also if you’re genuinely offended by the use of grid girls and think it commodifies women, you’re not wrong, that’s valid too. we’re all gonna die someday. thanks for coming to my ted talk. feel free to tell me I’m wrong
