WIP Meme

I was tagged by @ro-blaze!! (thank you for tagging me!!). After finally wrapping up The Grunge Band AU tm I'm completely free to work on other things, the dilemma now being I have too many things I am working on asdfghjk

The most pressing of things though is probably getting at least one of the next parts of Circumnavigators of Celestial Bodies done before the end of Zutara month so I picked a little chunk I really like from one of those (I call this one 'The Sparring One'):

But, as she assumes her starting stance across from Zuko, she see’s the middle of his chest and falters. Because that’s not how his chest used to be and she knows it. She stands limp and sees lightning and doesn’t even really hear him say her name. And Katara, feebly, asks, “does it still hurt?” Because it looks like it hurts. She’s worried that it hurts. The way the flesh is knotted with fresh scar tissue, pink and healing still. It’s been months, sure, but the scar hasn’t really had all the time to acclimate like the old one has. It’s different to, how the skin’s twisted across itself. The colors it makes. She supposes that all has to do with the fact it’s not from a traditional burn, it’s from lightning. The middle, she supposes, is more like burns she’s seen. Like the scar on his face. Or the scars on plenty of Earth Kingdom people she’s seem. Her hands, even. Scars like her friends mother back home, who’d just gotten a little too ambitious cooking by the fire and they’d all swarmed her immediately to keep the damage as light as possible but still there was damage. That sort of burn. But it splinters out from there, like roots digging into the earth. All these little lines, jutting across his skin. Rivers and streams diverging from a lake. It’s strange. She’s never seen a burn like that. She’d never treated lightning before either. That, to, she still thinks about. How he still sparked with it, how it felt to piece together his insides while it tried to get out. An animal stuck in a trap, really, unable to gnaw off its own foot. She wonders sometimes if it’s still stuck in him. Wiggling around like a fish all tied up in a net. When she looks at him, though, it occurs to her that he maybe doesn’t think about this that often. Or maybe, he does and he just…didn’t think she did.

like i like my honey by @buick118 is a lovely one shot for some super sweet, romantic and caring domestic henren looking out for each other through the years! Hen's healing touch coming out in force to keep Karen looked after. This just made me feel so warm and happy, I love them and their love for each other so much! Plus the title is a Kehlani reference. YES.

when i see stars, that's all they are by @ithilien-writes was a gorgeous fill for the mixed media prompt of @summerofbuddie in which Eddie finds himself at a loose end and unwilling to go back to an empty home, so impulsively signs up to a community poetry class at the local library, makes some friends, and finds a way to channel his feelings. I really loved the slight fish out of water but giving it a go anyway vibe here, and how Eddie found putting his thoughts into words in poetic forms helped him to actualise his feelings.

an inch away from more than just friends by @littlespoonevan I absolutely adored and previously recommended part one which gave me all the romantic Eddie feels, and was eagerly anticipated part two and it did NOT disappoint!! In which Buck puts two and two together after Eddie shares a little of what he's been working through in therapy, and is determined to give Eddie the romancing he wants and deserves! The only problem is all the things Buck's doing to woo him it turns out he's kind of been doing all along. So so sweet, considerate and romantic. Beautifully written. I could just live here.

instructions on not giving up by @wildehacked this one's a hard hitter. Eddie's not coping and Buck is too worried to leave him alone, so invites him to join he and Tommy on their romantic hike getaway when disaster strikes. When the helicopter goes down after Tommy has a serious seizure, Buck and Eddie are grievously hurt and left to depend on each other to survive. Is rescue on the way? This packs an emotional punch but is well worth it for angst fans. Heed the trigger warnings! (Tommy is treated with respect but there is MCD, and suicidal ideation from Eddie.) Ow! My heart. It hurted so good?!

can't tell where you end (and i begin) by @absolutelybifurious Ravi invites the 118 out to a club, things escalate. Inspired by Ryan Guzman in Step Up (which I admit I've never seen but I HAVE seen behind the scenes rehearsal footage...hello), in which Eddie's got moves and Buck's got a problem about it. With a Lucy Donato cameo (yes thank you) and some very sultry dirty dancing. What more could you want?

the parts we play by @calinaannehart I have been absolutely loving following along with this actor!Buck au as a wip, and with just one more chapter to go now is the perfect time to start reading it! 'Buck isn’t a firefighter, he just plays one on TV, or at least that’s what he’s about to do. He’s offered the chance to shadow the 118 to learn what it’s like to be a firefighter. Eddie is fed up with these Hollywood types turning up and feigning interest in the job that he loves. Buck, however, is nothing like that and everyone can see the connection they have.' This feels really beautifully in character for an au and is expertly weaving in canon and reinterpreting it through the film star lens. So much fun to read.

PS - that's it for this week but as always, I'm on the lookout for henren centric fic, and early days Buck and Tommy (I like it best when it fits neatly into where we've left off in canon).

Oddity by @tsyvia48 Rated E - Actor C is contracted by (useless) Gabriel to guest curate an exhibition at the museum where A works. After getting off on the wrong foot, can they work together to pull off this show? This was in my WIP list and has now been completed *cries in a corner*

Garden of Delights series by @zehwulf Rated E – Rough Enough last week sent me on a little BDSM flavoured journey this week. This 10-part human AU series is *significantly* harder than Rough Enough, although A continues to have his soft Dom personality. I thoroughly enjoyed Crowley’s gender fluidity, as I identify as genderfluid myself. There are some very particular kinks in this series, and a SERIOUS CW for consensual non-consent (CNC) in multiple stories within this series. There is an underlying psychological growth within the series, though, which is interesting to unpick. Which, when I read this back, looks like me giving weird reasons for reading kinky smut. I give no excuses for reading kinky smut. I enjoy smut and certain types of kink. I also enjoy teasing out angst and psychological growth. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. But, erm, no chicken dinners in my smut, thanks. Not into that. But if you are, by all means…

A Tempting Night of Wine and Kisses by LemonTart Rated E – in-universe, but not canon-compliant, this is interestingly part 2 of a series, but the first kiss between A & C doesn’t happen until this second part – despite the first part also being very much E rated. This leads to this one-shot being much more tender and loving. Which was particularly soothing after 10 BDSM stories 😂 It was a bit like my own aftercare

love not given lightly by @hakunahistata Rated E – Hmmm, I’m starting to sense a pattern in last week’s reading…it all seems to be raaaather smutty. So apologies if that’s not your thing. *coughs* Anyway, blame Rough Enough, this is another Gentle/Soft Dom A fic. The story starts off with C snapping at A upon their very first meeting that he’s “fine”…coz, you know, that’s what all completely fine people say…

Ngk Ngk Ngk by ForFucksSakeJim Rated E – There is only one thing I can say about this one: Ngk.

The Beginning of the End (Again) by @addledmongoose Rated M – A Post GO2 fic with a brilliant plot idea. I really enjoyed it AND it’s written in the first person (alternating) POV. I’ve never read a fic in this POV and I can genuinely say I enjoyed it and I congratulate the author on making it work so well. There is a lot of humour in this story as well, which I enjoyed and, hey, look, it's not a smutty-smut one. Although it’s definitely not innocent. I loved the character of Duke Asmodeus as well. Highly recommend.

There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out by @phoen1xr0se Rated M - A is a researcher (puffins!), C is a lighthouse keeper on the island where A has run away to to escape his problems and do his research. The author has recently spent a week studying puffins - which is the ultimate dedication, if you ask me. Ch 10/26 posted so far

Find The Light by @klikandtuna Rated E - Headmaster A and Rockstar C. The story teases out a fraught history between them whilst keeping a tension between them in the modern day. Ch 11/15 posted so far

Under The Summer Stars by @pannotbread Rated E - This wonderful fic has taught me more about physics than school ever did (mostly because I never did any physics, but...well). A & C have to share their time at an observatory because there is Only One Telescope. Not only will you learn about astrophysics, astrobiology, and astroecology, you'll also read some of the most poetically, beautifully written masturbation scenes I've ever seen. *ahem* Ch 8/13 posted so far

Poetry Carved In Flesh by @fellandcrow Rated E – Tattoo enthusiast A becomes a fan of tattooist C’s work, but doesn’t have any tattoos himself. C convinces him to get tattoos…but due to distance, A can’t get any work done by C. Until C comes to see him. This fic has GORGEOUS artwork, and speaks to my tattoo-obsessed soul. It’s an A-falls-first-C-falls-harder story, which is always fun. It also features ghostrat’s Nice and Accurate fandom. Ch 7/16 posted so far

Exodus_2 by @tismrot Rated E – Human AU set in a dystopian future. The summary says it best, really: Ezra studies programming at the University of ha-Gan. He’s as determined as he is damaged, as fastidious as he is precise, and likes to believe he'll stop at nothing to achieve his goals. His beliefs are challenged when a new student appears late to the first Ethics module lecture - and his life is changed forever. It's the future, it's dystopian, it's cyber and it's punk. It's political, grimy and slick with tears, lube and chemical snot. TW: Sex, drugs, trauma. Ch 30/35 posted so far

Free by well, me: imposterssyndrome Rated E - A & C meet (again?) in an acute mental health ward after both having had mental health crises. A runs a bookshop but is very much under his parents' control. C has been homeless since childhood and has struggled his entire life. They do not trust each other when they first meet, but feel strangely drawn to one another all the same. Where will this lead them? This is a passion piece for me. There is a lot of lived experience in it, and extensive research from both professionals and peers. It has been a real journey for me to write it, and as I'm coming closer to the end it's becoming very emotional for me. Ch 53/57 so far - on the home stretch now everyone!

Find another weed guy, I can’t fuck with you… uhhmm nothing personal I can’t fall in love with another straight guy and you’re Everything I love so if I see you again i’ll never let go of your hand so yeah

Eddie types out the text with one hand, flat in bed, despondent. His other hand is busy laying across his eyes dramatically. He’s squinting out from under it to type. He deletes the message without sending it. Again. He knows he’s going to see Steve again. Aside from everything else, he needs the money. He doesn’t have that many customers. It would be stupid to not go.

Hey man, you free to come by tonight? Steve had texted. Like he was talking to a buddy. Eddie usually sold Steve weed, sometimes shrooms. Sometimes his roommate Robin was there and that made things a little easier. Usually Steve asked and Eddie stayed to smoke and that made things a little worse.

Steve asks today. And Robin isn’t home.

“God, work was—never mind, I don’t even want to bore you with the gory details,” Steve says. He does something in finance, like his dad, and he hates it. Eddie wishes he didn’t know this. “But anyway, I really needed this. Thanks for coming over.”

“You literally pay me,” Eddie reminds him, the last threads of his sanity wearing thin in the face of Steve’s unnecessary niceness, “so.”

“I know, man, but still,” Steve says, pops off his baseball cap and fixes his beautiful hair underneath, tugs it back down. He looks like even more of a jock in the hat and unfortunately it does nothing to kill Eddie’s boner for him. If he’s honest, it’s part of the appeal. Sometimes he literally plays basketball right before calling Eddie, and he answers the door sweaty in low-cut tank tops, thick chest hair on display. “You want a beer?”

Steve drinks terrible beer. Unfortunately Eddie would like to tease him about it and kiss the side of his mouth while introducing him to something decent. “Sure, why not,” Eddie says, because it’s still free beer and also he’s an idiot.

Part of being a dealer is seeing inside people’s lives. Just briefly, though. That’s what you have to remember—you’re the interloper. Eddie delivers all over downtown Indianapolis—does it to put himself through school, slowly. He doesn’t want anybody else like he wants Steve. Has maybe never wanted anybody this much and he’s had his fair share of ill-advised hookups with people he was half in love with who didn’t care about him enough.

It makes it worse (better) that he knows nothing’s ever going to happen with Steve.

Steve hands him a Sam Adams without a trace of embarrassment and Eddie sighs internally, takes a pull.

He gets out the lunch box he deals from out of his bag and puts it on the table. Steve doesn’t like it when he does it right away, like he’s trying to make it fast and get out of there. He’s never said anything, but Eddie can, like, tell. Doesn’t like to make him sad and shit. It seems like his life is kind of—Eddie doesn’t want to say sad, but he never talks about his parents except to say that his dad did such and such new shitty, annoying thing at work, pressured him and made him feel not good enough. He doesn’t say it exactly like that, but Eddie gets the picture. He wants to tell Steve he thinks he’s good enough, and all kinds of other ridiculous shit.

Steve clinks the neck of his beer bottle against Eddie’s and takes a grateful sip. It’s the middle of summer and hot, and even the central air in Steve’s building is struggling to keep up.

“Anything good?” Steve asks, eyeing the bags of drugs Eddie’s pulling out.

“This is decent,” Eddie says, flicking one. “Mostly sativa, but it’s like… friendly. I’ve gotten good feedback.” To be more accurate, one person had texted and asked for the same thing as last time. But still.

“Whatever you say,” Steve says, like always. He’s very easygoing about his drugs. With him it really seems to be more about the journey than the destination.

19. Give us a small teaser from one of your WIPs.

i'm going to take this opportunity to say that something in me does not allow me to fulfill all the multichapter, long fics of my dreams so i mostly share oneshots. i wish i could be like "this is from my [insert title here] au from chapter 14!!" or something. but alas. anyway, this is from my wip sequel to the sabezra secret relationship i wrote a while back. it's almost done, i'm excited to share the full thing soon!

Maybe the Ezra Bridger who wasn’t in a relationship with Sabine wouldn’t have said that. Maybe he would’ve been a little giddy—like, wow! Sabine is actually touching me! And isn’t completely averse to it! Maybe he should have said something like that. Or just. . .smiled? Or hugged her back? Sabine still wasn’t letting go. His heart ached a little. He let his arms come around her loosely, his gaze stuck to the floor. “So. . .” he started. But nothing else came out. 

21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?

yes and no. i don't think i've ever had to delete an entire scene--usually i will spend a lot of time writing a scene or two and i hate it a little more than usual so i end up losing motivation for the entire project. this happens often. i don't like it.

however, sometimes i'll write a line i really like but in my heart i know it won't work for the overall goal of the paragraph or scene, so i have to delete it :( i mourn for like three minutes and then move on lol.

29. Share a bit from a fic you’ll never post OR from a scene that was cut from an already posted fic. (If you don’t have either, just share a random fic idea you have that you don’t plan on getting to.)

goodness, the amount of star wars time travel fix-it fics i've written in my mind. that's kind of where they stay. but occasionally i jot down a scene that has a chokehold on me until it goes away. i was going to share an anakin one, but for some reason i can't find my doc with that in it :') so you get this scene from my vostress wip where asajj goes back in time. this is kind of a cheat bc i don't know if it'll NEVER be posted, but as of now too little of it is written to share much more than these snippets. also there's very little interest in a fic like this versus my usual stuff lol.

Her eyes softened. “It is more important to reject that power and preserve those things. Understand me, Vos. Truly. There is no power that can take away the pain you feel. No power that is worth it for a fleeting sense of victory.” She realized she'd put a hand to his chest, naturally drawn closer as she tried not to plead with him. This was it. If he should ever listen to her, let it be now.

and for a bonus, here's an 'asajj takes omega to meet quinlan' snippet that was just for fun and will never again see the light of day lol!

“Your jedi?” Omega asked, eyes lighting up, glancing from one of them to the other. Vos flashed a lopsided smile at Ventress. “I love when she calls me that,” he said in that smooth, unserious but oh-so-truthful voice of his. Ventress's eyes slid to him, then went up to the sky in feigned annoyance as her hand fell to her side and she swiveled to walk away. “Come on.” Unfortunately, Vos and Omega were making quick friends. He was the type to do so; always had been, and it seemed she, too, was eager to befriend anyone she set her sights on. A horrifying pair.

hi sci! i think at least once a day i am taken aback by how much of an incredible artist you are. your ability to create and your passion for it is just astounding to me, over the course of a few years your work has become such a pillar of inspiration for me 💘

i've asked you before for drawing tips and i value those so much but i've found myself actually wanting more and more to get into writing fanfiction but i have about a million worries and i'm not entirely sure to start. i definitely smashed out a few so-bad-its-bad obscure anime fanfictions as a kid but i really haven't touched creative writing in eons. I know you've been writing for a good while, but do you have any writing tips you tend to refer to or any advice for begginners? ... and any advice on getting over my internalised cringe culture when i can't open a word document and type out "peter parker" without shrivelling into myself...

i don't know if i have a lot in the way of writing advice - i think the only way to overcome the shame of it is just to whisper "i am cringe and i am free" and do it. i think anything you enjoy doing is worth doing - and, you know, if it's not enjoyable you just wouldn't do it. you post your first fanfiction - you get feedback, you find out people hate it when you write in first person. you learn, you come back stronger than ever. (not from personal experience. okay. yes. it's from personal experience.)

(i still like my first person pov fics. shut up.)

maybe my first advice is don't write in first person (people hate that.) (but actually i love it, when it's done well. but i'm freaky kinky.)

i'd say reading definitely helps when it comes to writing, but again, that's me giving good advice that i don't follow (i'm jared, 19.) - i mostly read comics. and i mostly read comics that i don't enjoy. don't be like me. read things that you enjoy - even if you've read it a hundred times before, odds are, it'll inspire.

i did say when people asked me advice on writing dialogue (which is my absolute FAVOURITE thing to write) - watching movies and television with dialogue / characters that you really like honestly really helps - more so than reading, I think, for me. performance is so, so important when i'm writing dialogue. it's not just words, i have to have such a clear picture of how it's being said, ya feel. how the characters are performing it. and so, in that way, it plays out a little bit like a movie in my head, even though there's still a lot of internal monologue in there (the internal monologue i write is often very reliant on visual metaphor too - i'm just - i'm a really visual person, i think.)

all in all i don't think there's any better advice than just DO it. just DO it! and once you've done it once, the second time is easier. and then the next, and then the next. it might help to discuss it with others - do some back-and-forth, or even have proof-readers - (i rarely do, but i also love to overshare all my wips, because i'm a giddy little schoolgirl when i'm knee-deep in my writing.)

Plus it’s hilarious because ever since I’ve made friends watch it, they’ve been like “it’s you” “they made a movie about you” and one time I made a joke about being a Nimona cosplayer and my best friend of almost 6 years (my favorite person ever) looked me dead in the eyes and said “wym cosplayer, that’s just how you look” and I’ve never been one hit KOed so fast. Anyways I am normal and regular about the gender movie of all time.

Like 5 WIPs that friends of mine have been gracious enough to share with me. I am in love with all of their writing but one in particular who’s finally started to pursue writing as a possible career (they have tumblr if you’re reading this yes I’m talking about you ily hi) has absolutely blown me away with their artistic talent. They have a way with words and a story that I am feral for and rooting for.

some "behind the scenes" stuff from this comic (read as: wips and assorted thoughts)

SOME BACKSTORY: i was halfheartedly playing through strikers after finishing p5r. the fact that akechi's not even mentioned in that whole game made me sad. the fact that akechi stops being mentioned basically the moment he dies in p5 vanilla makes me sad. i had thoughts. so i decided to make a comic about it

i wrote down the entirety of the script for this while in a complete haze listening to third eye by florence + the machine on repeat for an hour straight. that song has nothing to do with anything the comic is about. or with either of the characters involved. i can't explain my thought process there.

(the 'official' title of the comic is "a ghost amongst the living (consequences of a cognitive death.)" as a sort of tribute to that song, even though it has, again, nothing to do with what the comic is about)

THE SCRIPT: the numbers correlate to text bubbles on my thumbnails (see next). i also put it on discord so i could more easily see it/edit from either my phone or computer, which i don't think is the MOST efficient or professional way to go about doing this, but

you may notice this is a little bit different from the text on the final product. this is because. i changed some things while typing it out for the final thing. i don't know what else to tell you.

i did reach a point where i had read these same words over and over so much that i started questioning if anything i wrote made sense and if i even knew how to speak english correctly. i'd like to thank my friends for reassuring me that some of my wording was ok, and also google because every time i asked "is that even a thing people say" i would just plug it on there to try to figure it out (because i was too embarrassed to ask anyone to read over it)

THE THUMBNAILS: just a rough idea of panelling and where to put text bubbles and such. this took fucking forever. comics are hard. nobody ever tells you this (<- something i said about like 10 times to the same people while making this)

THE SKETCHES: basically grabbing the thumbnails and making them into an actual thing i can draw onto. also getting all the text laid out-- i don't think that's entirely necessary at this point but i was just excited to see it all laid out and being able to read it

(shoutout to my friend sophie for making the font i used for this/use for all my longer comics. she's an icon and a legend and has really nice handwriting)

you may notice that page 9 is completely different from the thumbnails. this is because i was tired by the time i got to that part in planning and i paid for it. brainstorming & reworking that page took me an entire day. comics are HARD. I AM TELLING YOU THIS

page 6 also changed by the time i got around to lining it because i decided that it sucked and i hated it. reworking that into something more acceptable also took me about half a day. i'm happy with how it turned out though, and glad that i no longer have the issue of having a flop ass page in the middle of this

THE PROCESS: was actually quite straightforward after that, just doing the lines and the like. but i wanted to share how i did the backgrounds. i grabbed a bunch of in-game screenshots i took for reference and just plugged them through csp's "artistic > lines only" filter and just traced over that

ETC: some miscellaneous thoughts, because if you've made it all the way through this then you probably don't have anything better to do anyway:

all in all this took two weeks. script was written on the 11th, thumbnails were done on the 14th, sketches were done on the 17th, lining on the 24th, aaand colouring took me just one day. comics are HARD and TAKE TIME. NOBODY TELLS YOU THIS!!!!!

i actually started getting wrist pain somewhere along the 2nd day of lining/3rd page. that step of the process probably took longer than it otherwise would because i had to keep taking breaks 2 ensure i wouldn't break my hand completely -_-

my sanity throughout the lining process was only ensured by listening to a frankly stupid amount of jpop. thank you wednesday campanella and mrs. green apple

i think my favourite page is page 3. i like how the panels get crooked when akechi puts the detective prince persona on, i like how akira deadpans (in a straightened panel) to cut him off. also in order to get the hand right in the first panel i did the hair twirling motion myself and ended up hitting myself in the eye with my own hair. it was worth it though

IN CONCLUSION: i think they went a bit too hard with the yaoi fanservice in persona 5 royal

This is just a short little nothing WIP for the immediate aftermath of episode 20 of G-Witch. I had some feels I had to get out, spoilers below. Based on how "late" it was by the time Earth House found Suletta digging through the rubble, I'm willing to bet that she wasn't answering her comms/couldn't and so there were likely a lot of folks thinking she may be one of those trapped or killed.

Anyway, Miorine's POV for discovering the school's been attacked again but WORSE.

Of all the sights of carnage and horror that have seared themselves into her mind over the past 12 hours, the endlessly scrolling list of the dead from the second attack on Asticassia was the thing that threatened to send Miorine into a full blown breakdown.

Some of the names she recognized from her own classes; most she did not.

The news feed that was playing on the left of the screen was showing images of collapsed buildings and mobile suits accompanied by rescue personnel sifting through the rubble for survivors and the dead in the heart of campus.

Her hands shook as her fingers clumsily tapped through her contacts, trying desperately to reach out to Suletta. Miorine hadn't seen her name on the constantly updating list, but that meant nothing with so many still unaccounted for.

She found Suletta's entry where she'd hidden it at the bottom of her contacts and hit Call.

Distantly, she was surprised it didn't fail to dial as it should have if she was a blocked contact. Even so, the call rang several times before it cut.

Connection failure.

She tried a few more times. Nothing. Perhaps someone from Earth House could be reached.

So she called Lilique.

Then Martin.

Till.

Ojelo.

Suletta.

Nuno.

Suletta.

Aliya.

Suletta.

Chuchu.

Suletta, Suletta, Suletta.

Sixteen instances of call connection failure ping red on her screen. Desperate, she sends a message through the Gund-Arm Inc company employee emailing list for the first time since Suletta's last duel, praying one of them would respond, confirm everyone is okay even if they didn't all receive it.

All possible direct options exhausted, she finally turns to contacting Guel.

M: What in the world is happening up there Guel? Who attacked the school? I cannot get in touch with anyone in Earth House. Are they okay?

Is Suletta? Please tell me she's okay.

Miorine's typing stopped dead the moment she spotted a clip of Earth House came on the screen, showing nothing but a blown out ruin. She felt her heart rate pick up, panic setting in. Was EVERYONE dead?

G: I don't know where to start. "It's bad" doesn't begin to cover it. We've got Shaddiq, but the other one of those witches from the Rumble had been holed up somewhere and she just started shooting everything and everyone.

G: Panlunch is helping with clearing rubble according to Felsi. Earth House was okay last she saw the rest of them and were evacuated safely.

Guel Jeturk is typing…

None of them have seen Suletta since before she went to class today. They're looking for her too.

G: I've tried contacting her a few times myself and got nothing, but you'll be the first to know once I find her, I promise. I have to go, some members of my house are in rough shape, and I need to get back with Lauda to bring them home.

Miorine choked back the urge to vomit as everything sank in at once. It was hard to not know her ex-groom's class schedule by heart. Or shove down the knowledge that the lion's share of the devastation cut huge swaths through the academic buildings. No, no, no. Suletta would have been in the center of it all and was likely buried beneath tons upon tons of debris.

Every last gamble she had taken had failed to keep the girl she loved safe, and now she wasn't even certain that Suletta was still alive. Miorine dropped her head into her hands and despaired.

17. What do you do when writing becomes difficult? (maybe a lack of inspiration or writers block)

Feel really guilty, stare at my notebooks a lot, try rereading fics, switch it up and read for other fandoms, think up a lot of plots in my head but never manage to write anything down, come up with like 20 other fic ideas… um… if I ever find anything that’s ever actually helpful and/or I ever manage to actually resume writing my wips, I’ll let you know! 😅🫣 writers block is the devil, it happens to everyone, I’m just trying my best not to take it too personally. Not sure how good of a job I’m doing at that but I’m trying.

22. Are there certain types of writing you won’t do? (style, pov, genre, tropes, etc)

Never say never, and I’ve definitely written my fair share of taboo things, and I hope to do so again in the future. I think fic is important, especially the more unsettling ones. It’s a fun way to experiment with something without having to actually do it. Write the taboo things!

That being said, there are definitely things that just aren’t my cup of tea so I don’t think I’d be capable of writing it. I’m working on getting comfortable writing smut again, and maybe one day I’ll be able to share it publicly too, but right now I’m not comfortable writing it. I’d probably stick to a fade to black scenario if that was the story I was writing, though I’ve been sticking more towards emotional or comedy where that wouldn’t necessarily apply anyways.

50. How long is your longest fic?

Surprising is currently sitting at 8,087 words and 5 chapters published. I have a bit more than that written down for chapter 6 but nothing finished yet as I haven’t been able to decide which direction I want it to go 😅🫣

Finished fics? My longest is I See You at 6,397 words and 4 chapters. ☺️

I'm so bad at coming up with stuff on the spot so I'm going to cheat a little and use something I jotted down last night (which is probably more than 50 words 😆). This is for my main WIP, which I have talked about before but am not going to name so I can be all secretive and mysterious🤣: ------- "Do you have any informants in Hawaii?" Inuyasha asked.

Miroku seemed taken aback, but recovered quickly. "Actually, yes. One of my oldest confidants, Hachi, spends most of his time island-hopping. Why?"

"Could you -- Is there any chance he could -- Or you could ask --"

"Aw, are you trying to ask me for a favor?" His stupid blue eyes lit up like a child, and Inuyasha's hands balled into fists. "This must be important. You can do it, use your words."

Fuming, Inuyasha's cheeks burned, which he covered up by punching his annoying partner in the arm. He so badly wanted to tell him to forget it, since Miroku was pretty much insufferable when gloating. But since this was likely his only shot to help Kagome while they were gone, he took a deep breath and swallowed his pride.

"Do you think you could ask him to keep an eye on someone for me?"

"Stalking, huh? I didn't take you as the type."

"Fucking what -- no! I just...need to know she's safe. Alive. Nothing more than that."

"Oooh...she? This keeps getting better!"

Inuyasha's eye twitched, calling on every last bit of restraint he possessed not to knock the shit-eating grin off of Miroku's stupid face.

"Can you do that for me or not?" he ground out.

Miroku seemed to realize just how close he was to getting his ass beat, because his expression turned serious. "You just want a visual confirmation of safety?" Inuyasha nodded. "How often?"

"Whenever he can manage it...once a week, every few days, whatever."

"I believe that can be arranged. I'll ask him...on one condition."

"For fuck's sake, what?"

"That you tell me what the deal is with you and this woman."

Inuyasha rolled his eyes. "Why are you like this?"

I feel like Inuyasha and Kagome would probably move pretty fast in their relationship once she returned through the well. I imagine them being engaged and making out all over the place within the first few weeks. After all that time apart thinking they'd never see each other again, and since Kagome's decision to return is the ultimate show of commitment anyways, I think they'd want to make up for lost time and just go for it. That being said, I don't imagine them having sex the same day she comes through the well or anything like that. But I also don't think it'd take them a really long time to cross all of those milestones off their list. Somewhere in the middle, like a few weeks to maybe a couple months. I love reading fics that explore all of the different possibilities though, and can get behind almost any explanation/head canon.

Work is slower than it's ever been at the moment, to the point where I have had days and days of absolutely nothing to do while working at home and still getting paid (I'm salaried). My bosses have shockingly not tried to give me any busy work (there really isn't much else to do since our work is entirely project-based), so I've had a lot of time to catch up on my life and do fun things lately. It is the ultimate luxury and very rare, so I'm soaking it up while I can because once things get busy again my entire life will go back to revolving around my stupid job.

My mental health has finally reached a stable place, and I've been feeling pretty good overall. After years of depression and anxiety, it's a huge relief to feel back on solid ground again.

Our house is coming together slowly but surely. We are just about to paint the room we're currently renovating, and then just have to do flooring and we'll have another space finished and ready to use!

I have a lot to be grateful for right now, things are good 🥰

Ummm...gonna go left field and share a blam (Sam/Blaine from Glee) headcanon since I feel slightly strange about calling RPF stuff headcanons in the same way, but:

Sam pretty much returns Blaine's crush as soon as he realises Blaine has a crush on him, but he doesn't figure out that's how he feels for a while because he's like 'Blaine is just my good bro, right?' and also doesn't realise bisexuality exists/that's a thing he can be. Then he opens up to Brittany about it (since, you know, he's dating her, and she is also bisexual) and she's like "yeah Sam you can like both" so Sam is like yay yippee I have a crush on Blaine but is still a little in denial about it since he's. You know. Still in a relationship. This is why he's so weirdly pushy about Blaine admitting his crush on Sam to him in Guilty Pleasures. Anyway angsty ending Sam doesn't tell Blaine before Blaine gets engaged to Kurt and now it's too awkward to come out to him since his discovery of his sexuality was BECAUSE of Blaine (and maybe emotional affair shenanigans happen in New York and they get together eventually). And that's what you missed on Glee!

Chapter 6 is going to be super-sized since it's been *coughcough* months since ch5 and has a surprise guest star from the game world in it! No one else might care about the guest star but hey, I do and since I'm steering the boat... *beep beep* GUEST STAR! 😂

Anyway, in lieu of sharing a part of ch6 since it's hopefully going to be appearing this next week 🤞😣🤞 how about I tell you a couple of things I may not have mentioned before about it?

Originally, it was going to be John/OC instead of Reader, which is why she sometimes seems to have a lot more in common with an OC. However, she doesn't have a description, other than the fact she's shorter than John. Beyond that, she can be anyone, so I hope that anybody reading it can still feel like it's easy to project themselves as her, if that's what they'd like. Or that you can read the second tense “you” as being a form of first tense “I” and not consider that she is YOU but just a character you're reading along with. I hope that makes sense, lol! I mainly want my fics to be as inclusive and enjoyable as possible. (Kai has a male Reader over in the companion fic "Recreation" and "No Time" has a gender-neutral Reader with John.)

Also, yes, she does have a name but  I'm honor-bound to not reveal it. 😁(Same for Kai's Reader character in "Recreation;" I gave him a name, too, just so he doesn't feel left out. 😉)

Originally, this was meant to be a one-shot to fill my burning need to give John a hug after Halo 1x06 where the poor guy is practically screaming in pain and slumping down a wall and everybody's just like, "Hm, wonder what's wrong with Chief? Welp, on with my day!"

C'mon, Chief clearly needs a hug! And a medic. But definitely a hug!

Once there was interest to read more about them, though, I began using this as a chance to incorporate a bunch of my favorite tropes to read/write. I also liked the chance to explore a bit of the "ordinary" world that would be going on around all of the adventure and derring-do that Silver Team is embarking on during season 1.

I'm also feeling free to jump in the AU Warthog to weave in and out of canon however it best suits me, lol.

Into the AU party ‘hog, frens! Woo-hoo! (I adore the custom weapons and vehicle skins so much I made a little vid for them, lol.)

I enjoy making up little AU GIFs to go with each chapter but soon realized that it was more of a challenge than I originally expected because, since I don’t want to show any part of the Reader and thus define her skin color, hair color/type/length etc. But I’ll keep coming up with something for as long as I can!

I don’t have a set number of chapters this is projected to run but I’m guestimating... 🤔 quite a few. 😂 There’s still just so much I have planned for them! And I do have an ending for them that will bring us back kinda to the end of s1. The AU Warthog version of s1, anyway!

I’m hoping to get my couple of other Flash WIPs finished off then I’ll be coming back to this and “Recreation” in order to hopefully get them on a bit more timely posting schedule. I would ideally like them both to finish before s2 premieres in Spring 2023. We’ll see!

WIP folder ask game

Thanks all so far for enjoying the oneshot 🥹 I’ve been sad that I haven’t been able to publish things regularly lately so it felt fulfilling again to finally share something again!!

I had a lot of fun with 104th’s Top Cadet — I tested something where I intentionally backed off of descriptions/scenery, doing less than I typically end up doing, and instead spent more time building dialogue which was really enjoyable for me. In hindsight I always felt like dialogue scenes in, for example, Microcosmos could have been built even more so I’ve been challenging myself lately in all my WIPs to get used to giving dialogue and conversations a little more time and care (without going overboard).

I find when I read long fanfics, I tend to breeze through when there’s too much detail/description/etc and my eyes aim for dialogue to push through story, so that’s probably another reason. Especially in action-centered scenes, or scenes that are supposed to lead to something else!

It was even fun to study things like canon dialogue between Levi and Erwin, or Erwin to soldiers to get things right. For Mikasa, I tend to write her a bit more lively and expressive and sweet (bc that’s how I envision she grows to be tbh) but sticking to her stoic and fierce personality was good — especially for this timeframe when she doesn’t know Levi yet and doesn’t trust him.

A lot of why I ship them is built around S3 and onwards, post-war especially, because of the mutual quiet respect and admiration they have for each other, and I’ve gotten used to reading and writing that type of dynamic. So it’s fun and almost exciting to go back to the beginning where Levi is absolutely annoyed with her, and Mikasa sees him the same 🤣 It’s so different than what they became! But I love it because it emphasizes how much they HAVE grown. I think I wrote this recently but Mikasa’s relationship with Levi is her most transformed relationship amongst anyone else in the series.

With Eren, it’s kinda just… the same. Their moments we see in Marley S4 are exactly the same as S1 episode 1/when they’re children in Shiganshina. There’s no built trust. There’s no build of romance, even. After the “I’ll wrap that scarf around you as many times as you want, now and forever” moment, their dynamic still didn’t change. (I started writing more about this but deleted it bc this isn’t supposed to be an analysis post LMAO)

Anyway, all that to say 🤣 I tried to venture off and do something new outside of fluff or smut I usually write for one-shots! Hope you enjoyed the action, completely staying in Levi POV, dialogue, staying more in character, etc. i have so many more WIPs I hoped to publish before Japan but it’ll likely have to wait 😩 Will def be doing some brainstorming on the planes to make it easier to start writing again when I get back hehee

TYSM again for your encouraging words on the WIP, and for allowing further discussions! :D So, just to let you know right off the bat that it's a heavily centred Al x fem!FC (fan character) fic playing on the typical 'girl ends up at castle' setting (I truthfully didn't have the faintest clue that this was basically a trope going into the fandom! :O My heart kinda sank, ngl, thinking I had something vaguely original, buuut... I was crazy deep into the idea already and it gave me such a dopamine boost that the problem practically became a "Ahh, screw it, gonna write it anyway!" situation. ^^; Anyhoo, everything is canon compliant until S4 (it's a bit of a reimagining - starts in Al's scene in the first ep). The first chapter is a bit weak 'cause it's mainly just the entire scene in word format with a few altered bits. Purposely done though, in order to 'merge' the story into canon, so to speak... <.<; After that, however, everything will be new text until the end-ish. This does effect the length of the timeline, by... a couple months(?) so I'm hoping it's not too farfetched (I must actually rewatch some parts to see just how badly it alters it <.<; ), but even if so... Eh? (Shrugs)

*Coughs* Needless to say, it's a very self-indulgent fic. I just really adore the idea of Al in this kinda setting; getting to know someone new completely after the trauma he endured without too much interference from the rest of the world, thus allowing them both to grow close, share their stories, and just to... heal, cut loose, be 'themselves' ;) and just... to play! (Because there's gonna be decent chunk of that happening). I know CV's not exactly the most fluff-filled series, but it has its moments, and I wanna add to it 'cause I'm soft like that and I just want good things for our boi...

That being said, there will indeed be plenty'a angst, hurt/comfort, drama, S4!Horse is a prominent character, and a boatload of fluff... I'm also delving deep into the effects of trauma, fear and loss and how they influence a person's actions and thoughts (just hope I can pull them off realistically enough ^^; ).

But yeah, that's pretty much the gist of it without going into TOO much detail. It has become my baby so I do wanna continue it, if even just for myself. ^^; Thank you again, though for allowing this! :D Really appreciate it! <3

glad to share and what you have planned here sounds fab! ah on 'ending up at the castle' - don't feel discouraged lmao i wrote it too, and wasn't the only one! i still like it and what happens from there is always different even if the context is the same, each fanwriter has their own additions/interpretations of the characters. i'm doing this fun little project with a friend (lotr fandom) we're writing the same story but with different endings. we use the same OFC, same pairing, canon MC with the same affliction. we read each other's chapters so far and trust me they're very different. it's a fun exercise both for us and people who follow both stories. I think you give two people identical starting points and you'll usually get two different stories anyway and we readers love more of a favorite type of cake (at least I know I do)

I don't think I've done this ever. I very, extremely rarely drink if I'm alone - I did a couple of times when I lived alone, but now if you see me mentioning I'm drunk I probably shared a drink with my husband or family. And I kind of rarely write when I'm not alone so, here you go.

... no. Lol. Mostly when people make predictions (which I love !!! It's really not often.) they tend to be off. It's not that I try to surprise, it's just that I think I tend to think weirdly? But like. Most of the time my predictions when I read are off too, so lol I think I'm just weird 🤣

I'm more than sure you won't ever see any noncon from me. In fact anything too rough smut wise neither, I think. Other than that there's SO MANY tropes I don't know that I can't tell, you know ?

💖 What made you start writing?

I don't remember a time when I didn't write. My parents got me an old as balls electric typewriter when I was in middle school (that's why my typing is so weird and loud. The keys were stuck. Gotta be STRONG.). Anyway if we're talking fics, same, but actually writing and posting a fic I think it was a cliffhanger at the end of a certain season of a certain show, that made me just insane enough to write (in English, too, because I used to hate my french style)(I've retroactively posted it to AO3 so yeah it's there but I mean I haven't read it again so I wouldn't say to try).

Ok let's talk about that one I shared parts with you, right ? 😏

So when I finished writing Everyone learns faster on fire I thought I wouldn't go back to it.

And I didn't. BUT. I figured I wanted to rewrite it, because something sat wrong with me ; namely, that the army would keep Roy. So I. Had to start a new WIP that branched from there and... Went totally off, but in a very fun way. And now it's 33K, because the plot points fell down like dominos once I had Roy forcibly dismissed 😅 it's also less centered on Roy (and Riza) learning to adapt - since I got the other fic, been there, done that, let's say - but more on their relationship and on going forward, finding/keeping new plans going, etc.

And forward they go. And fast. Rebecca is going to go insane I think.

I've just added a Team Mustang (well. Finished team Mustang 😬🙃) scene and it was a blast to write. I can't wait to be able to bring them all together again for a very interesting plot point 😏 I also got Ed coming at one point, but not immediately.

This is half and half plot/slice of life fic, with LOTS of angst (say hi to Riza's separation anxiety)(and Roy's... I mean he's not much better than her) but also fluff. So much fluff. And smut. I'll have to plan how to post it when it's done, because this fic will be explicit but it's not like, a smut fic. It just happens. So it needs brainstorming. But it's not for now, because I'm. Actually far from the end. 🥲
