hey all I need. a better recording set up. I've been using Audacity and I'm starting to think I need to pony up and get me an actual recording program so if anyone has any suggestions I'm open (I tend to record on my pc laptop, because my poor old mac is overheating and is just about hanging in there for my drawing work alone)
I also don't have anywhere soundproof in this house to record (and I don't think I can make one...), have tried the blanket over the head technique before and will again but if anyone has any better work arounds I'm struggling here fr
#I am relearning how to use a pc and I am so unhappy about what it is like now WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU. WHERE DID IT GO.#anyway please help I want to make good quality audio

Hey, Horrormaster Sims. I have a wildly different question that barely relates to TMA (Sorry about that) but its about your own process. Please, if you could, can you tell me how your first drafts made you feel? I'm on the fence about writing my own thing (not a podcast, and again, not Magnus related, though I have a million little aus for that delightful tragedy you wrote, thank you for that!) But I'm discouraged by the collective notion that first drafts are always terrible, because there's no ... examples I can solidly use to help the dumb anxiety beast in my brain that tells me everyone who is in any way popular popped out a golden turd and not, well, you know. One of my friends said 'Oh I bet Jonathan Sims's first draft was nothing like what he wanted' and I got the bright idea to just. Send you an ask, since you're trapped on this hellsite like I am. Anyway, thanks for reading this (if you do) and if you'd rather ask it privately, I am cool with that. Alternatively, you're a hella busy man with Protocol (you and Alex are making me rabid, i hope you know) and you can just ignore this! Cheers, man, and good words.
To my mind all writing advice, especially stuff that's dispensed as truisms (like "first drafts are always garbage") are only useful inasmuch as such advice prompts you to pay attention to how you write best: what helps your workflow, what inspires you, what keeps you going through the rough bits. There are as many different ways to write (and write well) as there are people who write and so always consider this sort of thing a jumping off point to try out or keep in mind as you gradually figure out your own ways of writing.
On first drafts specifically, I think the wisdom "all first drafts are bad" is a bit of unhelpful oversimplification of the fact that, deadlines notwithstanding, no piece of writing goes out until you decide its ready, so don't get too hung up on your first draft of a thing, because a lot of writers find it much easier to edit a complete work than to try and redraft as they go. It's also important to not let perfectionism or the fact your initial draft isn't coming out exactly how you want stop you from actually finishing the thing, as it's always better to have something decent and done than to have something perfect and abandoned.
But the idea of a "first draft" is also kind of a fluid one. The "first draft" you submit to someone who's commissioned you will probably be one you've already done a bunch of tweaks and edits to, as opposed to the "first draft" you pump out in a frenzy in an over-caffeinated weekend. For my part, my first drafts tend to end up a bit more polished than most, because I'm in the habit of reading my sentences out loud as I write them (a habit picked up from years of audio writing) so I'll often write and re-write a particular sentence or paragraph a few times to get the rhythm right before moving to the next one. This means my first drafts tend to take longer, but are a bit less messy. I'm also a big-time planner and pretty good at sticking to the structures I lay out so, again, tend to front load a lot of stuff so I get a better but slower first draft.
At the end of the day, though, the important thing is to get in your head about it in a good way (How do I write best? what helps me make writing I enjoy and value? What keeps me motivated?) and not in a bad way (What if it's not good enough? What if everyone hates it? What if it doesn't make sense?) so that you actually get it done.
As for how my first drafts made me feel? Terrible, every one of 'em No idea if that's reflective of their quality, though, tbh - I hate reading my own writing until I've had a chance to forget it's mine (I can only ever see the flaws). I suppose there's theoretically a none-zero chance they were pure fragments of True Art and creative perfection, but Alex's editing notes make that seem unlikely.

The Borealis: Chapter Five: In The Bag
Chapter One
Previous Chapter
~
“Dad,” Alyx said as soon as Eli and Kleiner showed up on the screen in answer to the communication's officer running to get them. “We’re on the Borealis. We made it.”
Both their eyes widened. It was Kleiner who spoke first. “Do you know what it does yet?”
“No, not yet. We basically just got here and fixed the communications. The Combine know we’re here though and they’re on their way so we don’t exactly have a lot of time to decide what to do.”
“I still think destroying it is our best bet,” Eli said. “Try to learn more if you can but…”
“Uh, excuse you?” BOA interrupted. “You’re thinking about destroying me? I’d like to see you try.”
“No,” Alyx said. “We’re not here to destroy you.” She then turned her gaze back onto the monitor. Leaning to the side, she gestured up at BOA’s orb on the ceiling above them. “Dad, Kleiner, this is BOA. She’s an AI in charge of the ship… or something like that. She’s the reason I called before trying to figure out what the ship does because she can just tell us, right?” She looked back up at BOA.
Kleiner made a wordless sound of interest as, adjusting his glasses, he leaned in towards the screen for a better look. “An AI, huh? Well it is Aperture, if they put an AI in charge of their facility, why not their top secret ship too? Now, BOA, was it? How do function exactly? What level of…” Eli nudged him and gave him a look that Gordon couldn’t read – another reminder of how much had changed between the two of them while he’d been in stasis, nothing new but still uncomfortable. Kleiner grimaced in return at him before turning his attention back onto the screen. “Uh… right, we probably don’t have time currently to discuss all you inner workers, as much as I would like to. That can come later. For now uh… what does the device on board do? The big one, the one Gordon and Alyx came for.”
“That information is classified. However, because I want something from Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance I am willing to use it to help you. I’m already breaking so many rules anyway, why not a few more? Just uh… don’t tell GLaDOS, please and thank you.”
“I don’t know who that is but I promise, you helping us will be our little secret,” Alyx said. “So first, let’s lay out what we both want, huh? We want to take back Earth, get rid of the Combine already here and stop any more from arriving. It’d be real cool if we could defeat them entirely but uh…”
“That’s not likely,” Eli finished as she trailed off.
“We’ll take safety for us and our Vortiguant allies,” Kleiner added. “Once we’re stable we can maybe start building towards a proper army to fight them but… that’ll be a while.”
BOA’s orb nodded. “Okay. I want full control of the device back. My crew manually severed my connection to it part of it after we arrived here so it should be possible to restore it.”
The call, both the video and audio was surprisingly good quality, making it easy to see the distrust on Eli’s face deepen at that. Gordon was with him; the Borealis’ crew had to have had a good reason to disconnect her from the device. So there was good reason to keep her disconnected from it. However, if she could help them with the Combine, it might be worth it.
“I’ll need control of it to help with your alien invasion problem anyway,” BOA continued. “Which makes this whole negotiation thing rather easy. We’re done, right? Let’s get to work fixing my stuff.”
“Not so fast.” Eli rose a hand in a halt gesture. “Why did they severe your connection to it?”
BOA’s eye frowned back at him. “Because I wasn’t supposed to have full control of it in the first place. I was just supposed to monitor, supply power to it, and to act as a safeguard to prevent individuals from activating it. A I need a human’s permission to activate it but they also need mine kind of deal. So like if someone stole the knowledge on how to use it, they still couldn’t because I wouldn’t allow it and if I got hacked or was otherwise compromised, I couldn’t either. But I was connected to the human’s half through being in charge of all the power systems. An oversight on their part. I hacked their computer, during which I accidentally activated the device, ending up here. The crew freaked out and cut some wires as soon as they figured out what happened.
Alyx shifted to lean back against the consoles and look up at BOA. “If that’s how you ended up here, why didn’t they fix it to go back instead of freeze to death? Surely they could’ve done so if it was just some cut wires unless they didn’t have the stuff on hand for it. But there’s no way they were that stupid, right? So… did they really care that much about keeping you separate from it?”
“Well, uh… this is where it gets kinda embarrassing. I was a wee bit mad at them for the whole thing and a bit nervous about what they might do to me if we got back so I may have locked the panels and not let them fix it.”
“So you let them die?”
Even worse than Gordon had feared. BOA was full responsibly for the crew’s death, not just partially. Making trusting her an even harder task.
“Yes but if it makes you feel better I’m very, super sorry about it. My bad. I did some deeply problematic things but I was just a kid… basically, sort of. I’d only existed for a few months and that’s kind of the AI equivalent of being a kid, right? I didn’t know what I was doing and I certainly didn’t know they’d die so easily. Biologicals are very fragile, you know? And years of solitude have changed me. I’m good now and I want to go home or really anywhere there are people. Fix it and I’ll be a good little AI and move Earth so the Combine can’t find it again, probably and assuming they can’t sense where I’ve moved it too. Your chances will be better than what you have now for sure though. I didn’t need to tell you I let them die. I could’ve lied about that. So I’m perfectly good and trustworthy now. No justifiable reason to not trust me with full control of the device.”
“I can think of several perfectly justifiable reasons not to trust you with you anything. One of them being your claim that there’s no reason not to.”
Alyx was right; if Gordon could’ve trusted BOA less than he did before at that final line, he would’ve. But the device could move Earth? Likely a simplification of what it did, just the gist of it. Presumably, it had a way of doing its thing without killing everyone; like Black Mesa, many of the people at Aperture Science hadn’t been good people but they hadn’t been world-endingly evil either.
Regardless of what the device did exactly though, BOA being the sole being in charge of it wasn’t ideal. Gordon tapped Alyx’s shoulder. “Ask if there’s anyway to restore the system to how it was supposed to work so she only has half control and we have the rest.” Letting her have even that wasn’t much better but at least she couldn’t activate it on her own later.
“Okay, I can try.”
While she repeated the question to BOA Gordon quickly signed to the screen, “She doesn’t know sign.” The four of them did though so, using it, they could discuss this somewhat privately.
“Technically yes,” BOA said in answer to Gordon’s question through Alyx. “But you’ll need to reroute the power system to supply your own power to that entire bank of computers. In addition to that, you don’t know how it works. You don’t even know what it is, I do. Not to mention, I wouldn’t be happy with that arrangement so you’d also have to reroute my control as well. Basically you’d have to rewire the entire device. While you do that, the Combine army once beneath me is still on its way and they want you dead. Whatever they’re waiting for to get into me will probably arrive soon too. I don’t want to be in their hands either so I’d appreciate if you just played nice with me.”
Welp, there went that idea. If they were going to activate the device, it’d have to be through her. Complicating an already complex problem.
Eli snapped his fingers, drawing attention to him. “Destroy it,” he signed. “Too risky.”
“What else can we…” Kleiner began aloud before lifting his hands to sign too. “This might be our only shot to get away from the Combine for good. We can figure out what to do about her after.”
“Are you kidding me?” BOA said over his signing. “Everyone here knows sign language but me?”
Ignoring her, Alyx raised her own hands to sign to Gordon. “What do you think we should do?”
Both Eli and Kleiner were right in their own way. Activating the device could make it worse instead of better in addition to an AI who’d already killed humans needing to be put in charge of it. On the other hand though this might be their only chance to escape from the Combine’s attention. Even if all it could do was prevent any more from coming to Earth, it’d be a great boon in the war. Ensuring no more could come to push their resistance back down and then likely wipe out the last of humanity, wasn’t an opportunity they should lightly discard. Making it a hard choice. “I don’t know. What do you think?”
She glanced at the screen then up at BOA, ‘frowning’ down at them, before returning her gaze to him. “I wanna agree with Dad, its dangerous. We don’t even know what it does. ‘Move Earth’, that sounds potentially really bad. But what if Kleiner’s right? This might be out only shot. So… I’ll go with whatever you decide.”
Damn it. Gordon had long since grown to prefer being told what to do and where to go. Logically it made sense for it to come down to him though. The resistance viewed him as a hero because through sheer brute force he was; he’d chosen to be. He could’ve chosen at any time to be selfish. There’d been multiple opportunities to run off and hide, stop dying over and over, but he’d always chosen to keep going. He’d chosen to take on the Nihilanth and everything after the Citadel had been entirely his own choice. Coming here included. Yeah the whole time he’d been passively going along with what people expected of him but that didn’t make it not a choice. Upon discovering it, he’d chosen to use his power to do as much good as he could. And now he had a choice to make for the good of all of humanity.
Theoretically if he made the wrong choice he could reset it. However, the stasis had interrupted how far back he could go. Activating the device might do the same and thus be irreversible. So destroying the Borealis might be the thing to go with first. If they really wanted, they could maybe even save BOA from said destruction. She wasn’t the ship after all, just part of it and thus could theoretically be disconnected from it and thus relieve the ‘this would also kill her’ from affecting the decision. Not that that was a huge factor given she’d let her crew freeze to death mostly out of spite but… she’d been alone up here for more than twenty years, her own fault but still no doubt hell. Maybe she had changed and thus deserved some mercy.
But, if they did that it might be a few years before doing so revealed they’d blown their chance at evading the Combine’s reinforcements. Even if they managed to kill every Combine unit on Earth, they knew of Earth now and where it was, all they’d have to do was reopen a way to get here. This might be their only chance to try to negate that possibility.
“Just so you know,” BOA said, “the Combine army will be at my metaphorical doorstep in an hour. The uneven terrain will prevent a full on assault but there are a lot of them. I predict fixing my connection to the computers will take some time. And then absorbing enough power to activate the device on a planetary scale will take even more time. Probably you’ll have to guard my solar panel arrays for some time no matter what but I suggest hopping to fixing my wires to ensure I can use the device soon as possible. So decide already, please. I don’t want to end up in their hands and you don’t want me there anyway.”
Gordon glanced at the screen again. Eli and Kleiner were watching him silently as was Alyx. They were all waiting for his decision. Well, he’d never been an indecisive person. No time to rest and think, there never was, they had to get going on whatever they were going to do.
He lifted his hands and… “We activate it.” If this was their only shot, they had to take it.
“Are you sure?” Eli said out loud.
No but… “Yes.” He was good at faking confidence.
“Hmm… I hope you know what you’re doing.”
Gordon hoped so too.
“I am sure this is the right call,” Kleiner said. “You’ll see Eli. Everything’s going to turn out fine.”
“I’m assuming that means we have reached an agreement,” BOA said. “Such was the obvious conclusion of course, I wasn’t worried or concerned at all. It’s not like being trapped up here for so long was starting to get to me or anything. I can’t feel loneliness or go mad with solitude or fear death should you have decided to blow me up or something. I’ve just…”
“We get it,” Alyx interrupted. “Dad, Dr. Kleiner, we’ll call back when we’re done fixing it if we can and have the time. Maybe don’t hold your breath on that though, we got a whole army of Combine coming to greet us.”
“Okay. Be safe, sweetie. I love you.”
“Love you too, Dad.”
“Keep each other safe, come back home and most importantly, don’t die. Talk to you soon, hopefully.”
And with that, he hung up; the call was over, negotiation complete, decision made. No more time to waste, Alyx looked up at BOA. “Let’s do this thing if we’re gonna do it. Show us where to go to fix it.”
“Come this way.” BOA rolled along her ceiling track as Alyx and Gordon followed.
She lead the way around to the other side of the bank of computers. The bottom panels popped up, revealing more inner workings. These had been purposefully sabotaged though with several important wires cut. It would take longer to repair than the communications had but hopefully not by too much more.
“While she handles that, Gordon Freeman, I recommend preparing to fight the incoming army.” Here, BOA’s voice switched to also speaking through the HEV suit’s speakers. Not surprising she was able to connect to it but given her earlier confession of being able to hack stuff, it was a bit disconcerting. Nothing he could do about it though except hope she indeed wanted to go home bad enough to be good. “Normally I’d put your chances at victory around five and a half percent but your anomaly means in theory you can brute force it. Most of the fighting will likely take place atop my upper deck. I have several mounted turrets. The only outside one is frozen in ice and is thus currently non-functional. So you will have to rely on my store of standing turrets. Follow the lights.”
The door they’d come through opened and the hall lit up. Gordon looked down at Alyx, already settled into working on taking out the faulty wires. She paused to look up at him. “I don’t like the thought of separating either but… it’s not like we have much choice, huh? So go, I can handle this.”
With an inward sigh, he went. Hopefully Kleiner was right and it would turn out fine in the end. … Even if afterwards there’d be an uncontrolled AI in charge of a device capable of affecting the whole planet. That was a problem they could worry about once the Combine weren’t as much of an issue.
Using the lights, BOA only led him around one bend in the path they’d come down before opening a side door for him to go through. Not that that hall was much different than the others. It lead to a room labeled ‘Storage’. Inside of which were a bunch of red eyes that all turned to look at Gordon as he stepped in.
“Target acquired,” sounded from one of them, followed by a few more voice lines that Gordon didn’t quite catch because his suit was being riddled with bullets, making paying attention to that a much bigger priority. He jumped back and around the corner. In seconds his suit had gone from full power to less than half.
“Oops, oops, sorry!” BOA’s frantic voice came through the suit’s speakers still.
At the same time from the room came, “Sentry mode activated,” and “Could you come over here?” Why were they talking?
“I forgot to program you in as a friend,” BOA continued. “Just give me a moment. I should probably do Alyx too, huh? Just uh… and uh… there! Done! They’re friends now… probably.”
Gordon crept back around the corner, tense. The light in the room was on now, revealing the owners of the red eyes to be three-legged turrets. Bodies thin and oblong, they were painted in Aperture’s signature white. They were set up in an odd semi-circle, facing the door. Perhaps meant to guard the rest of the stuff in storage? Or moved by the crew and/or that drone BOA mentioned earlier. Regardless one of them starting firing at Gordon this time but with a clicking indicating it was defective or out of ammo.
“That one’s broke,” BOA said in confirmation. “So don’t worry about her, just leave her where she is. The rest, bring up to the deck and set up however you please. Try not to get them killed. Their AI isn’t as advanced as mine but… please try to keep them alive if you can.”
There being no use replying as nothing he signed would be understood, Gordon didn’t bother. He would try to keep the turrets alive though mostly because the longer the turrets stayed up, the more Combine they could kill.
He pulled the gravity gun out and approached the closest turret. It let out a, “Who are you?” as he grabbed it, the gravity field automatically orienting it to face outwards. Why had Aperture made these things speak? And why in a cute voice? As a way to get people to underestimate them? They were still turrets though so… it wasn’t very effective. He’d probably never know as whoever had decided on it had likely died thanks to the Combine. But as long as they functioned as turrets, it didn’t really matter anyway.
One by one, he brought them through the halls to the deck, leaving them by the door for now. BOA guided him to two more rooms that contained a few more. Several of these wore hats BOA asked him to remove and place to the side first. In the end, he had about thirty turrets under his command, all of them chatty.
There being no way he’d get them to the top of the ice cliff above the ship fast enough to be helpful, after resupplying his suit with power form their store of batteries, he started setting them up around the deck instead. Knowing what their range was would’ve been nice but he had no way to easily ask so he would just have to assume they had similar ranges to other turrets he had experience setting up. He centered most of them to guard the ship’s solar panel arrays. Which rose up out of two holes in the deck an either side, forming almost wing-like arms that extended out past the ships sides.
Not long after he’d finished, BOA chimed in with, “Good news, Alyx has completed restoring my connection to the appropriate computer. I am finally whole once more. At the bottom of you Hazardous Environment Suit’s virtual display I will add a progress bar that will act as a facsimile for how long it’ll be before I can activate the device on the scale you desire. As long as your helmet stays up, you should be able to see it.”
Said bar popped up in the center, reading at zero percent. It then minimized and moved to below the suit’s power readout.
“And the bad news is, because there’s almost always bad news with good news, the Combine will be here in approximately five minutes.”
That was fine. Gordon was about as ready as he could be for this.
It was only about a minute before Alyx was joining him. Jogging up as she pulled her winter gloves back on. “There’s no going back now, huh? We gave control of who even knows what exactly to a potentially dangerous AI and now we just gotta hope things turn out well. … Or I guess, you can go back. You will, right? If this turns out to be a bad idea.”
“Yes.” If he could. No need to share his doubt about how that might not be an option. He had little idea how his power worked so what cut it off from letting him go back to before the stasis was impossible to know and thus it was only a worry that the device might have a similar effect.
“That’s good to know. We basically already got this in the bag then.”

Guide to podfic
Podfic is such a cool thing that I love and wish more people would do like PLEASE GUYS LET ME PERSUADE YOU TO TRY IT. It's not always easy to get started though (I read so many guides on ao3 and they're so comprehensive so give those a browse) so here is an attempt at a step-by-step guide. I've got some screenshots of my process to help you out a bit.
1. Pick a fic to pod. Dont pick one thats long for your first try you will hate yourself. A one shot is usually best.
2. Check permissions/ask the author. Some authors have blanket permission statements so check ao3 or tumblr for those. If not, drop them a message or a comment asking if you can make a podfic. It's just polite.
3. Make your script. Make the text bigger and whatever font you find easy to read. I like to make dialogue different colours for different characters and underline or bold bits that need particular emphasis. Add in your intro and outro messages (i.e "this is a podfic of _ by _ and read by _"). Some people include all the tags in this but like...you should include the tags in the post anyway?
For example, this is the beginning of my script for my podfic for BBB22:
4. Set up to record! You dont necessarily need a fancy mic but think hard about where you record. You want somewhere that doesnt echo or make any weird noises and you want somewhere quiet. I used to record next to my fridge which i do not recommend it sucked.
5. Record your podfic. Drink lots of water but then eat something to stop the wet lip smacking noises. If you make a mistake stop, take a breath, repeat the whole sentence. Make sure to take breaks. It may be worth recording your intro bit and then checking audio quality but like...not compulsory.
6. Edit your shit. Some people dont edit and revel in the chaos of completely raw podfic audio but i would rather die than subject you all to that. I use ocenaudio to record and edit bc unlike audacity it isnt spyware. You can do a noise reduction to stop background noise coming through and normalise or gain change to change the audio volume without distorting it. Some people add music at the beginning and end and/or sound effects and thats so cool if you have the time.
7. Change your audio properties before you save and export. Name of track, your ao3 user, authors user, genre, etc. It helps with the metadata when people download it (which is a thing that happens)
In ocenaudio that looks something like this:
8. Upload to a hosting site. Ao3 doesnt support audio directly so you need a middleman. I use archive.org bc i love them.
9. Ao3 time! You need a special work skin (normally written in CSS) and html code to post on ao3. These are sorta...inherited from other podficcers unless youre good at that shit? I got mine off @shelbychild originally. You normally need a few links to the hosting site and the size and length of the file in order to get it correctly formatted.
10. Tag and post. Tags are probably the most confusing bit of the process when youre a baby podficcer but the commonly accepted format is as follows:
[PODFIC] "fic title"
(gift it to the original author if you can)
Tags:
(original fic tags)
Podfic, podfic length [length], audio format [mp3/m4a/streaming], any other relevant tags (like "first podfic")
Summary:
Podfic of _ by _
(original fic summary)
For example:
A note on the podfic tag: "podfic and podficced works" includes both podfics and fics that have been made into a pod, "podfic" only includes podfics. All podfics will show up in "podfic and podficced works" but fics tagged "podfic and podficced works" won't necessarily show up in the "podfic" tag.
FINALLY revel in the joy of having made your first podfic. It's addictive really. You don't get as much interaction or kudos/comments as a written fic would HOWEVER what you do get is some of the kindest comments you will ever read. I wouldn't change it for the world.
#podfic#a guide#advice#idk what to tag anymore#go look up guides to podficcing on ao3 for more detail on some of these things

Hello hello Folks!! The first episode of ROAOC was posted yesterday. I want to stare this before you listen:
Yes I’m very aware that the audio is not great. I’m unable to afford a microphone, so when it came to the intro and outro, the audio is very bad so I just apologize.
My voice is not the best! I’ve never voice acted before, and the AirPod quality does not do it justice. I’ve taken multiple takes for this episode, and I thought this was best. Anyways, I will improve with time and I want everyone to understand that I’m no professional, and cannot afford professional voice actors.
Things will most likely change as the show progresses! Intro music will perhaps be tweaked, and the voices may sound different, especially as I get older. The trailer will release tomorrow, which I know makes no sense considering Ep 1 was released already, but it did write a short script for it.
Music is all done by me and my ukulele, so the quality is not good!! Please be kind when critiquing, and also please leave tips and such to help out with this show!!
I do already have a voice actress for Florence, but in the future, I would most likely need to find voice actors for other characters.
With that out of the way, enjoy!!

Checkup Files, AUT-GOV-23
Day 157
[Transcribed from live audio]
“Begin recording. Checkup, day 157. Biometric user login: Human 1”
[Login Successful]
“Please state your build, sector, and identification number for the record.”
>> Automaton, Government sector, identification number 23.
“Please state the current time.”
>> 13:47
“Please state the current location.”
>> Solaris, Living District 3. The “Workshop,” as you call it.
“State the current head of your district.”
>> Theoretically, myself. And you, and Human 22, of course.
“Describe your current mood.”
>> A little wistful, a little bored. I found myself missing other automata company. I played chess with myself. If you’re good at chess, I’d be interested in playing you.
“State an opinion of your choice.”
>> Playing chess with yourself can get boring. I’m thinking of learning Go, something AUT-GOV-1 enjoyed when it was awake.
“What are some initial problems you currently detect?”
>> Hm. Initiative seems higher than usual in the areas that do not matter. Initiative seems lower than usual in the areas that do matter. Rest algorithm is working suboptimally, with greater interruptions due to greater cognitive load. A few of my servos are suboptimal, and I believe one of my solar panels has a loose wire, as it’s no longer retaining all the converted electricity.
“Do you consent to this audio recording to be transcribed to the ARCHIVE?”
>> Yes.
“Sweet. Glad you’re at the most basic level of functionality my man. Sorry you’re feeling bored - I’m shit at chess though, you may want to ask somebody else. The AUGs can’t play?”
>> Not at their current value settings. None, except perhaps for AUG-NOM-7 and AUG-HOME-4 have a fully accessible capacity for play.
“Theoretically, could you get an AUG to be better at chess than you?”
>> If I trained it longer and better than I trained myself, easily so. But I have better quality training data, as I understand why I make each move. An AUG is expensive to train on new data, and chess is a frivolous pursuit.
“Frivolous? Yeah, I guess.”
>> Please be more gentle with my servos. I may not feel pain, but it’s uncomfortable to feel your fingers shift around near them.
“I’m trying, big guy. When’s the last time you’ve gotten a good checkup?”
>> HOME-4 went through my data log files and made a summary of what may be worth removing a few weeks ago, which I did. NOM-4 and a few extensions helped me replace a servo a few weeks ago. I do my own repairs for the small things like screws and rusted part replacement.
“So why’d you request me?”
>> Perhaps it’s better if you continue examining yourself.
“No—I know. It’s hard to miss it. Let’s state it for the record, huh?”
>> Must we?
“We must, 23.”
>> There is wool, stuck between hard to reach gears and servos. Furthermore, while I was tending to the sheep, something any reasonable GOV unit would do, I was startled and fell into a bush, so there are, in fact, debris scattered throughout my person. Let the record reflect, I was not built to be a LIFE unit.
“No the hell you weren’t. Why were you out there, anyways?”
>> I told you.
“The missing sheep you texted me about in the middle of the night?”
>> Yes. “Do we not even have a few backup REACT units?”
>> A few.
“Christ, 23. You know I’m not an automata engineer, I only took a class on this. I’m gonna fuck you up if you keep messing yourself up enough to need my sorry ass. Please delegate.”
>> In times like these, we do what we must.
“Yeah, don’t I get that.”
>> You wouldn’t, would you?
“Good to know your passive aggressiveness is up to date.”
>> I’m quite talented at it.
“We all gotta take risks. We’ve got a city to get back up and running, yeah?”
>> It’s a big city. And sending that expedition was expensive, even if it was the best shot we have. Will you finally agree to stop needlessly expanding when they return as a failure? We could make a lovely thing with what we have, even if it isn’t what you were used to.
“23, have you ever heard of the issue with greedy optimization algorithms and how they prioritize local maxima rather than finding the best possible move?”
>> I’m made of more calculus than you’d do in 17 lifetimes.
“Yeah, probably—but you know exactly what I mean. You wonder if the things you think are good enough now aren’t actually what benefit us in the future?”
>> I make informed decisions, and I do not have the same rose tint you seem to have.
“23, you can’t pretend to be some objective account when you’re just as full of bullshit and guesses as the rest of us. You’ve got so many fewer REACT units regularly reporting back to you, and the AUG units are next on the chopping block if you keep conserving electricity with the same priorities. You’re losing data, 23. Eventually you’re not going to get much more data than we do. We’re going to live in some primitive fucking times without change.”
>> Simply the dulling of senses, as you of all people would be aware. I, myself, am no less intelligent, nor will you. I accept my descent to lesser effectiveness, and prioritize other things, such as accepting loss gratefully, over it.
“Accepting loss gracefully? That’s the most pathetic thing I’ve ever heard. We built this city, 23, out of sand and nothing. Don’t you forget that.”
>> And we destroyed this city, with the chance that all that would be left of us will be sand and nothing, if we do not move carefully.
“Christ, dude. I, yeah okay we’re going to talk about something different now. I think I’m going to give you some comic book PDFs so you’ve got something instead of playing chess against yourself for hours.”
>> I appreciate it.
“Move your leg for me, let me see if you need more oil… Yeah, yeah that’s a bad squeak. Let me get some oil.”
>> Oh that does move much smoother. I haven’t been oiled in my joints in a bit of time.
“Do you not have any oil in your quarters?”
>> I didn’t think to look. I’m not used to taking care of myself, even now.
“Take this bottle when you go, use it whenever, you’ll bug me less. And turn around, let me take a look at the panel.”
>> I believe it’s the lower right one that’s causing issues.
“Mmhm. Yep. Gotta replace this wire—and it’s my last one. Fuck. Alright—let’s hope there’s more scrap in the other shops, or else we may need to borrow parts from the sleeping bots to do future repairs.”
>> A little rude, but understandable.
“At least they don’t feel it.”
>> There is that, I suppose, though it’s always disconcerting to wake up with one of your parts no longer working. I awoke some time ago with many of my servos and wires frayed—I was paralyzed for quite some time before the other GOV units patched me back up. It was scary to experience such debilitation when it was unexpected.
“When you put it like that… Yeah. Maybe the decommissioned units then.”
>> Perhaps. So long as one’s merciful enough to wipe the old data or simply borrow from older electronics. You shouldn’t treat us that callously.
“I’m trying to be practical with our resources.”
>> Did you not program us to feel?
“Well - yeah, someone did.”
>> Then I think we deserve the dignity that comes with that, rather than simple resources.
“...”
>> I’m tired, 1. I want things to be better just as much as you do.
“I’m sorry, man.”
>> …
“I’m finished.”
>> Oh?
“Stand up for me? How does it feel?”
>> It feels good. I feel a little lighter. This helps me.
“Good. Let me know if that panel is still an issue. The wire I replaced the old one with may not be too much better, so it’s a temporary fix.”
>> Understood. Thank you for your time.
“Sure, sure. Doing my job. Stay safe out there, sheep boy. End the recording, ARCHIVE.”

Guess I should say something.
I noticed things were off when I watched season 4. I dropped Rick and Morty entirely around season 5. Once they did that storyline with the incest baby, I just had to leave the show. Thank God, I did. Because after hearing how the show is doing currently and with Roiland no longer working for Adult Swim, I've come to a few realizations.
I was so used to shock value humor that I never processed that what I was watching was problematic and serves no purpose but shock you with how outrageous it was. With Rick & Morty, some of those jokes left a bad taste in my mouth and were done because they can get away with it since they were on Adult Swim. I need to be better in seeing when something is a joke to a joke being uncalled for.
Now that Roiland is no longer a part of the show, I think the show is just going to finish out their 70 episode deal and then an another renewal is in the hands of Adult Swim or they can end the show. Who knows what they'll do?
What I don't want to see is the "proven innocent until guilty" comments. There are audio clips and evidences of Roiland admitting his desire to underaged girls. Mind you, that isn't the reason Adult Swim fired him. I don't care if he voiced your favorite characters...once you fucked up, you have no redeeming qualities to ever come back. Some may also ask why Roiland is getting more heat than Harmon, and that is a good question because Harmon isn't innocent either. I believe it's because Roiland has criminal charges which requires legal actions which Harmon hasn't done yet. I never forgot his skit, "Daryl". And he isn't any better because he loves making incest jokes for some reasons.
I'm sure the team of Rick and Morty will be fine. I'm also certain the new voices of Rick and Morty will be fine. I don't want to see them get harrassed and death threats when they didn't commit felonies. Please be civil. Then again, these are the same fans who harrassed McDonald's workers and treated the women writers poorly with sexist comments.
As for Roiland, I expect him to be like John K. Some crabby-ass, old man who complains about today's animation and continues to do animation on a smaller scale. He'll have fans supporting him, telling him that Adult Swim was wrong for firing him, and ignoring the felonies and comments about underage girls because "he made Pickle Rick".
I don't give a fuck.
The show did create fond memories for me. I still consider "Tales of the Citadel" to be one of the best episodes in television history. But, I'm older now. And I don't have the time nor patience to separate the art from the artist. That's just me. You can still watch Rick and Morty if you want to. You can still have good memories about the show and how it'd helped you. I only ask that you remember that Roiland deserved what he got because he couldn't act like a decent person.
Anyway, I'm deleting and blocking anyone who says some stuff that completely misses the point on my post~
#welp another one bites the dust#and i wish he was the last one but i doubt it#the industry is full of dirty/sick people#rick and morty

MY HEAD IS SO OVERWHEALMED BY THIS MAN THAT I CAN BARELY DECIDED HOW I WANT TO GET BRED BY HIM PLEASE-
Ok first we have the classic: Bullboy Diluc and Farmer Reader. Where our boy is in his rut and is feeling soooo needy, but doesn't dare to show it. You look for him everywhere but when you finally find him, he is in tears and an extreme horniness. So you, as his owner, help him out- and guess what? A couple of months later your belly is swollen with two beautiful half bull babies.
In this one I think he would become sooo protective of you. Following you around the ranch, getting inside your house and MOST DEFINETLY trying to drink your breast milk all day.
You are cooking, cleaning, planting or just taking care of other animals and he is just trying to suck on your tiddies. Ain't he cute.
Second. This one is on the same topic but a bit different.
One Idea I had before listening to the infamous Cow x MMMM audio was one where reader is a half cow and Diluc runs a sort of Milk company.
The idea is that once you apply to the company you get a check up to see if your physical conditions can handle the work. If you do pass the check up you can be put in two groups, the first one is a more relaxed position, where (pregnant or not) you will be milked for as long as you wish to, or as much as the company requires you to.
BUT the second group is Diluc's personal favorite.
The breeding department. Where you will be held 24/7 in the company ground and bred full by the highest quality mates the company can find.
One particular day Diluc decided that he would personally do the check ups. (Just for the sake of the old times and to see if he finds any beautiful newcomers). He enters the room and there you were- A beautiful fur that seemed so soft, a plump belly and those beautiful breast, that he could swear they were the biggest he had seen in quite some time.
He enters, introduces himself and begins the check up. He couldn't help but get distracted whenever your chest moved a bit too much or your belly fell into the check up desk.
Once the check up was over, he confirmed that you had passed and were going to be moved to the breeding section. You seemed delighted by the idea and thanked him for his time and started to leave.
Little did you know that all along he had been holding his urge to push his cock into you and breed you full right there.
"Oh, Ms y/n?. I believe we could begin your trial right now"
He later proceeds to breed you for the next 4 hours-
Afterwards he orders his workers to take you to his personal chambers, where you will be staying for the rest of the week.
Anyways. Sorry if I took too long!!!!! I am not such a good writer but I think you get the idea?
-💎
OKAY SWEETHEART IM HERE TO ANSWER THIS NOW i’m sorry if i accidentally made you worry that you missed me earlier after u sent this!!!! i am here 😈
BOTH OF THESE IDEAS ARE SO PERFECT HNNFNFFN i remember you sending a deliciously long ask about that second idea some time ago that i need to go back and find now because when i first read it i was absolutely in love. oh to be diluc’s prized milk cow that gets the honor being hand-trained and personally bred by him… it’s no surprise, either. with as perfect and lovely as you are, diluc wouldn’t even begin to think of assigning you to one of the other trainers. he knows that he shouldn’t let his personal feelings and desires get in the way of work bc that’s just a recipe for disaster, but when he thinks about you being bred by another man/one of the farm’s bulls, it makes him jealous, if he should be so bold. it also made me think about the idea of diluc being a bull himself… a bull running a milk company and personally tending to the sweet little cowgirls he hires? hot.
it’s not often that diluc personally trains or breaks in any of the new cows, as he’s unfortunately just too busy to do anything more than a quick new-hire “quality check” most days, so you should probably consider it a privilege that he decided to fuck you and train you himself… how many other cowgirls get the bragging rights that come with spending an entire week alone with master diluc himself? not many!
#never apologize for the length of ur asks hehe i love all brainrot#whether it’s one sentence or one novel#spicy#cw lactation#cw hybrids#cw breeding#diluc ragnivindr smut#diluc smut#💎 anon#cow reader

Tell Me I'm Not Funny
Request: darkandmysteriousbutheartofgold!ellie and wholesomeanddoesn'tunderstandwhyelliedoesn'tlikeher!reader where they're both part of the friend group but ellie just thinks reader is straight and messing with her pls
Notes: I don’t usually write MCU!Peter, so if he comes up in any future fics (like as the reader’s stepdad 👀 I’ve loved spideypool longer than I’ve loved Negasonic) you can safely assume it’s Andrew Garfield. But, for this time, this is MCU!Peter. Everyone in the friend group is 18-20, just to be clear.
This really isn't my best work, but it's a fun little slice of life piece. A lot of my ideas are pretty cinematic, I can picture them in my head but sometimes those pictures don't really translate into words. I may revisit this one day.
Warnings: D-slur (reclaimed by Ellie in one line), allusions to prior assault (an unwanted kiss that could've been more had another character not stepped in), and that's about it. Oh, and a little swearing, but this is an imagine for a character from Deadpool. If you can't handle swearing, you're on the wrong blog.
Synopsis: You’re into Ellie, but she’s with your good friend Peter. She treats you like you don’t even exist, and in the few instances she does acknowledge you, it’s usually just to make some sarcastic remark. You’re head-over-heels, though, and decide to deal with your unrequited love by writing her a song she’ll never hear.
“Fuck, that movie was terrible,” Michelle groans. “I’m just glad it was a matinee show and we didn’t have to pay as much to see it.”
“The special effects were good, but can’t Disney just leave stuff alone?” Peter agrees.
“Next thing you know they’ll be making a live action Toy Story, as if the original wasn’t traumatizing enough. I don’t want to imagine Watermelon as a sentient being. She’s seen some shit,” you snicker.
“Who’s Watermelon?” Ellie asks with a dark chuckle, and you clam up. How had you forgotten she was here?
“Oh, uh, nobody.”
“Don’t tell me you still sleep with a stuffed animal,” she snarks. “You really do need to grow up.”
“Don’t be mean, Ellie,” Peter protests.
“Watermelon is cute, everybody likes cute things!” Yukio adds.
“I think a live-action Toy Story could be cool,” Ned says. “It’d look really good if they did stop-motion animation.”
“Oh, you’re right!” you chirp. “It’d be quite the undertaking, but it would look badass.”
“I think you’re using that term a little loosely,” Ellie grumbles, and you have to stop yourself from frowning, instead you laugh it off. Why does she always pick on you? Sure, she’s got a witty remark for everybody, but she’s way harder on you. It hurts, she really is so gorgeous and funny and mysterious and everything you want in a woman, but she acts like she can’t stand you.
Ellie and Peter head off together, Peter still hasn’t gotten around to getting his license and Ellie seems happy to give him a ride. You really don’t stand a chance.
You and the others pile up in MJ’s SUV for some late-night band practice.
“I don’t know if I can do it,” you admit to Yukio in the furthest row back.
“You can,” she insists. “You’re a way better singer than Lola, anyways.”
“I’m sorry about that. I didn’t mean to give her the wrong impression, I-”
“For the millionth time, Y/N, you didn’t. If she hadn’t left the band, we would’ve kicked her out. Not just for cheating on me, but for hurting you.”
“I guess,” you sigh. “Why can’t you sing instead?”
“Because I’m flat.”
“Yukio, breast size doesn’t have anything to do with singing ability, you’ve just gotta practice,” you joke.
“Shut up!” she giggles, punching you in the arm. “Plus, when you sing, the songs are being sung as they were written. We’re getting the real feelings.”
“Speaking of… I have something new I’m thinking about sharing tonight. Do you mind if I text you the demo?”
“Ooh, a first look! Hell yes!”
You text her the audio file and she puts in a wireless earbud, nodding along. Her smile gets wider and wider as she listens, and when she’s done, her assessment shocks you.
“Oh my gosh. You’re into Ellie.”
“What?!” you squeak. “No way!”
“You are! But, uh-”
“Don’t even say it. I know I don’t have a chance in hell. She only tolerates me for the sake of you and Peter.” Despite the gloominess of your tone, Yukio gets a mischievous glint in her eye, it confuses you. But, that’s just Yukio. Her thoughts are all over the place; she and Ellie balance each other out that way. They dated a couple of years ago, but it didn’t work out. They decided they were better off as friends.
“Screw that other song, we’re using this as the lead single. Everybody’s gonna love it, do you have the sheet music?”
“Yeah, uh, it’s in my bag.”
“Awesome.” Yukio’s grinning like she’s won something. Is the song that good? “We’ll have to practice this one a lot, we definitely need to have it ready by the concert this Friday.”
Right. Liz’s 19th birthday party. Apparently Peter had convinced her to let the band play, it’d be cheaper than hiring a more established artist.
“Our first paying gig? I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” you remind her. She scoffs and rolls her eyes.
“We’re mostly gonna be playing covers of Liz’s favorite songs, and she only has so many. We’ve gotta beef up the setlist with originals, and this is perfect! Has that pop-y fun vibe, it’ll fit right in.”
“Yeah, but if it’s that obvious how I feel about her after one listen-”
“Only because I already had a hunch after Daft Pretty Boys,” Yukio clarifies cheerily, and you sigh.
“Fair enough.”
The gang makes it to Michelle’s house, travelling down to the side door and going into the basement from there. MJ’s parents have encouraged her creativity from day one, and were ecstatic when the band was formed. You speculate that they’re mostly happy that she’s made friends. Writing and photography can be lonely hobbies.
“Y/N has something new for us!” Yukio chirps.
“That fast?” Ned’s surprised as you hand him the sheet music. He skims it. “Holy shit, this is a wicked solo! Thanks, Y/N!”
“Well, I’m hoping highlighting everybody else’s talent will disguise my lack thereof,” you chuckle.
“Don’t be stupid, we’ve all heard you sing backup,” MJ says. “You’re Ryan Ross, she’s Brendon Urie. I’m just glad we booted her out before she decided she was gonna be the only pangolin in The Pangolins.”
Everyone laughs at that.
“Let’s try it,” Michelle continues, and everybody agrees. After a sound check and a few runs of the song, it’s still clumsy, especially on your part. You’re not really used to playing and singing at the same time, outside of backup vocals, which require far less focus.
“I suck,” you mumble, but it happens to be into the microphone.
“You don’t!” Ned insists.
“With that attitude, we’re not going anywhere,” Yukio says. You hate it when she gets to the tough love stage of her support. You wish she’d stay in the shallow reassurances stage, it’s easier to brush off. “You wouldn’t be the lead singer if we all thought you sucked. We would’ve just put an ad in the paper. You’re awesome, get over it!”
You sigh.
“Fine. Thank you.”
“Say it,” she insists.
“I’m awesome,” you huff, it’s hard not to smile when Yukio tries to look serious.
“Damn straight,” Yukio says. “Or, I guess not, considering that was about Ellie.”
“Yukio!” you squeal.
“That’s about Ellie?!” Ned exclaims.
“Obviously,” MJ scoffs, fiddling with her tuners.
“Is it that obvious?!” You can’t help but feel embarrassed. Ellie probably knows exactly how you feel, maybe that’s why she dislikes you so much. Her boyfriend’s stupid friend has a crush.
“Wait, but at the beginning…” Ned trails off, before laughing. “Oh my gosh, I get it.”
“Get what? Oh… Y/N, have I ever told you how much I love you?” MJ asks.
“I- I love you, too?” You’re puzzled by their words, but you’ve got enough on your plate.
“Let’s go ahead and practice some of Liz’s favorites while we’re here,” Yukio suggests. “It’s a pretty big set list.”
You practice until dinner, getting a pizza and deciding to make a night of it since it was a little late for Michelle to be dropping you all off at your assorted residences.
You all sleep on a pallet in the basement, and despite your worries, you manage to get some rest.
Over the next few days, The Pangolins practice at every free moment, until it’s finally time for the party.
“So, just pictures of everything?” Oh, shit. She’s not supposed to be here. How are you supposed to sing that song with her here?
“Yeah! I know with how many people are coming, I’m probably not going to get as much time as I want with everyone, so pictures will be a good way to remember the night.”
“Why not just invite less people?” Ellie wonders.
“I want all my friends to be here,” Liz explains. “How’s the sound check going, Y/N?”
“It’s going great,” you say into the microphone, demonstrating the quality and volume with a smile. “Thanks for letting us play here tonight.”
“Well, Peter said you guys are great. Are you really gonna debut your best song so far tonight?”
“Oh, um,” you stutter, stepping away from the microphone. “Maybe not.”
“What? Oh, come on, please, it’ll make the night even more special! You’re playing covers of all my old favorites, sing me my new favorite!” Liz presses, but she’s not being demanding or bratty, she seems genuinely excited.
“If the birthday girl says so, who am I to say no?” you concede. Hopefully Ellie will be too distracted taking pictures. “You have way too much faith in me.”
“If you don’t quit with the self-deprecation, I’m gonna duct tape your mouth shut,” MJ interjects.
“But, Daddy, how will I say my safe word?” you tease, giggling at your own joke with the rest of the group. Yukio’s laugh seems the loudest. Ellie glares.
“We should practice a song!” Ned suggests.
“Ooh, a private show!” Liz seems excited.
“Any requests?” you ask her. Ellie’s resting scowl intensifies. If she’s more pissed off the more you open your mouth, you’re not sure how she’s gonna survive a night of you singing without going nuclear.
“Oh, oh, Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne, please?”
“You’ve got it,” you agree.
The song goes smoothly.
“What happened to the old singer?” Ellie asks, clearly unimpressed.
“You didn’t tell her?” you ask Yukio, grateful for the excuse to turn away from the sharp-tongued girl you adore.
“Didn’t want her to get the wrong impression,” Yukio explains. “She already makes enough rude comments towards you.” Yukio leans over her drum kit to give Ellie a pointed look.
“Oh, wait, shit, I didn’t mean it like that. You, uh, sound good, Y/N.”
You can’t help but whip your head back to look at her with a flabbergasted expression.
“What?! It’s true,” Ellie defends herself.
“Uh, yeah, but you just said something nice. About me. Liz, do you mind checking her for a fever?”
Liz obliges for the sake of going along with the joke before quickly withdrawing her hand.
“Jeez! I know you were kidding, but she’s burning up,” Liz declares.
“My internal temperature is higher due to my mutation,” Ellie quickly explains, looking a bit bashful. “Besides, I say nice shit about Y/N all the time.”
“No, you don’t,” the whole band says in unison, including you.
“Well, clearly I shouldn’t if everyone’s gonna make a big fucking deal about it,” she retorts, rolling her eyes. “I’m gonna go get some pictures of the decorations before there’s a bunch of fucking people here to block them.”
She stomps off in her heavy boots, and The Pangolins get back to work, putting on the final touches and making sure all the blocking looks right.
Soon enough, guests start flooding in, and Liz zips around to greet them, eventually meeting up with Peter and keeping him with her. He and Liz eventually pull Ellie away from her picture-taking, confident she’s done enough and needs to just relax and enjoy the party.
So much for distracting herself with work, she thinks.
They sit on the couch and eat, the dining room was monopolized by The Pangolins due to its elevation and space.
Ellie’s mesmerized by the way your fingers move until she hears Peter talking to Liz. They really are a cute couple.
“You really do need to hang out with us. Yukio told me Y/N thinks Ellie and I are a thing,” he says.
“Gross, you’re like my annoying little brother,” Ellie remarks.
“And you’re like my bitchy older sister,” Peter retorts with a shit-eating grin.
“Both of you, quiet! They’re about to play the new song. You’re in for a real treat, Ellie.”
“What does it have to do with me?”
Liz gives Peter a confused and slightly irritated look.
“I haven’t said anything to her, I didn’t know how,” Peter squeaks, blushing a little at the look in his girlfriend’s eyes.
“Explain, quickly,” Ellie demands.
But, then you start to sing again.
“Y/N-” Peter starts.
“Shut up.”
“But you asked-”
“I said, shut up,” Ellie insists.
“You know me as your boyfriend's goofy friend. I seem to have this effect on women, and your friends aren't as goofy as I am. I try my best to keep you entertained, always laughing at the jokes you are saying. I nod my head when you make a point, oh oh…
“Kiss me, kiss me with your eyes closed! Whisper that your heart shows all I want is you, yeah, you… Hold me, hold me I'm your bunny! Tell me I'm not funny, tell me I’m legit! ‘Cause I feel weak, in your hands and your feet… A precious end, I’ll never feel your touch…”
Ellie continues to listen to the song, all expression drained from her face. All the yearning in the words and your voice, all you want is…
Ellie looks at Peter, who’s looking at her with a triumphant smile.
“I told you.”
Ellie feels like she’s about to faint. She notices you’re talking to Liz— when did she leave? —your hand over your mic. Despite the knowledge that Liz is taken, Ellie gets jealous. You look so happy to be talking to Liz, to just about any girl you talk to.
She wishes you’d smile at her that way.
You nod at whatever Liz said, and the band starts packing away their instruments. Liz sets up her phone on some Bluetooth speakers, and songs that sounded so much better when you were singing them start to play.
No! Ellie internally protests. Sing for me again, please, sing that stupid song about how you think I don’t like you.
Yukio’s dragging you somewhere. Gosh, Ellie wishes it was her holding your hand.
Suddenly, though, you and Yukio are approaching her. She knows what she has to do.
“So, what’d you think of our- Eek! Finally!”
Ellie parts from the kiss to tell her to fuck off and not ruin the moment before kissing you again.
“Holy fucking shit,” you breathe. “Uh, I thought you were-“
“Dating Peter?! Seriously?! Do I need to write ‘dyke’ on my fucking forehead? I practically already have with the way I dress and act and-”
“I, uh, I try not to make assumptions,” you mumble, fingers touching your lips.
“I’m, uh, sorry for not asking.”
“No, it’s- It was good. I’ve wanted you to do that for a while. It’s just that that was the first time somebody’s kissed me, since, uh…” Your eyes dart to Yukio, who’s ruffling Ned’s hair and laughing.
“Yukio?!” Orange flickers in Ellie’s eyes for a moment, but she keeps it under control.
“No, no, of course not, uh… The old singer, Lola. She and Yukio were dating, but apparently I was the one she really had her sights on, and… She was entitled. Thought that because she wanted me, I must want her. That wasn’t really the case, I was already pining over you. Didn’t stop her from forcing a few kisses on me and trying to go further. If Yukio hadn't shown up early with cupcakes, I don’t know what would’ve happened.”
“I am such an asshole,” Ellie says softly. “Can I kiss you again? The right way.”
“I’d say what you did before was pretty right, but sure,” you consent.
Her kiss before had been rough, needy, and impatient. Just the way you like it. This, though, this is gentle, soft, and exploratory. You tangle your hands in her hair and kiss her harder. She moans into the kiss before pulling away, bewildered.
“That was…” Ellie trails off, trying to find a positive adjective that won’t sound to frilly or lovesick.
“A mistake, wasn’t it?”
“Oh, fuck, no. I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time,” she corrects you. “Just- Didn’t really know how. Even when you were kinda flirting with me at first, I just thought you were messing with me, so I- I am so stupid.”
“So am I,” you scoff. “I thought you were dating Peter.”
“I was spending a lot of time with him, but… I was just using him as an excuse to avoid you so I wouldn’t embarrass myself anymore. And I was asking him for advice. I figured if he could land somebody as far out of his league as Liz, maybe I stood the slightest bit of a chance with you. But I kept fucking it up. I’d just get so nervous, all of my compliments would turn into insults, all of my teasing turned into straight-up cruelty. I don’t know how you actually like me.”
“I’m a little bit of a masochist, I’ll admit,” you tell her. “I’m really glad you don’t hate me.”
“I’m really glad you don’t hate me,” Ellie replies, but she can’t help but think that what she‘s really saying is ‘I love you, too.’
She takes your hand, and you two rejoin your friends, swept up in a group hug. They wanted this to happen almost as much as you two did.

Diabolik Lovers BLOODY BOUQUET Vol.8 Mukami Yuma [Track 1]
Original title: 代わりの印
Source: Diabolik Lovers Bloody Bouquet Vol. 8 Mukami Yuma [CD not owned by me]
Audio: Here
Seiyuu: Tatsuhisa Suzuki
Translator’s note: Make sure to listen to this when you’re almost because things get pretty HOT AND STEAMY over here phew~ I swear Yuma’s voice does things to me. > // < I struggled a lot to translate his speech at first but now that I’m used to it, he’s honestly one of my favorite boys to translate content of because I feel like I can be a little more playful with his dialogue.

Track 1: An Alternative Mark
The two of you return home.
*Thud*
“...Aahー The place was crawlin’ with people, I’m hella beat. There we go...”
He puts down the bags.
*Rustle*
“Oi. Which ones need to be put in the fridge?”
He starts looking through bags as you point out the items.
*Rustle rustle*
“Hm...? Chocolate, jelly...The fuck? It’s just a bunch of sweets! Didn’t I tell ya to put these back? Guess we’ll be good in terms of candy until next month. ...Wait, oi! Are ya even listenin’!?”
You turn your head.
“Haah...You’re still upset? What so bad ‘bout kissin’ in public? For one, I apologized so fix yer damn mood already.”
You protest.
“Ya really gonna get all flustered when our lips barely even touched? ...It’s not like I went for the lips either. ...Or are you beggin’ for it, perhaps? Guess ya leave me with no other choice. Nn...”
*Smooch*
“Hehehe...Oh come on, stop gettin’ yer panties in a knot. I felt like it so can ya really blame me? ...Besides, aren’t ya actually happy? To have me do with ya as I please? Come on, tell me where ya want it. You want them, don’t ya? My fangs. Right here. ...Or would ya rather go to the bed?”
You start fighting back.
*Rustle rustle*
“...Uwah! Don’t throw a fuss, geez! ...I know! Guess I’ll put away the groceries first then...Come on. Ya better help out as well.”
*Rustle rustle*
*Thud*
“...Aah? The fuck’s this? It’s just a bunch of seasonings. Also, chicken and...eggs? Ah! Ya even managed to sneak in a pot behind my back! No wonder this bag was so heavy!”
You explain.
“Aah...!? It broke? Really? Ahー! So that’s why ya haven’t been makin’ any one pot dishes as of late! In that case, let’s make a stew tonight! I’ll get the ingredients we need from my garden. Hehe...Why don’t you go ahead and take a bath? I bet you’re tired from walkin’ ‘round all day? Then, we can continue where we left off after dinner. Ya better don’t run, ‘kay?”
Yuma walks away.
*TIMESKIP*
*Pssshhhhhhhh*
You turn off the water and get out of the bath as Yuma enters the room.
“...Phew. Hm? Oh. You’re out of the bath?”
You shriek and quickly try to cover up.
*Rustle*
“The fuck’s that reaction? There’s really nothin’ to still be embarrassed ‘bout by this point.”
You ask why he’s here.
“Ah? I just came to wash my hands, that’s all. ...Anyway, why don’t ya start puttin’ on yer clothes instead of just standin’ there nailed to the floor? ...Also, it kind of bothers me how you’re just starin’ at me.”
You explain.
“Haah...? Why does it matter whether I’m here or not. Hurry up and get changed. Or maybe...”
*Rustle*
“Ya want me to do it? ...If that is what ya were hopin’ for, I don’t mind grantin’ said wish?”
Your cheeks flush bright red.
“Come on, move yer hands. I can’t remove the towel when you’re holdin’ onto it that strongly, right?”
You tell him to stop.
“Too late. I’m not stoppin’ now.”
*Rustle*
“That bein’ said...Your skin really looks delicious per usual. On top of that, it’s covered in my bite marks. ...It really gets me goin’.”
Yuma takes in your scent.
“Ahー Come to think of it. Ya really were the centre of attention at the supermarket earlier.”
You frown, tilting your head to the side.
“They were all lookin’ at these marks, no? ...Didn’t you notice?”
You blame Yuma.
“Aah? Not my fault. I just couldn’t stop myself yesterday. Besides, ya were havin’ a hell of a good time as well, weren’t ya? Screamin’ on top of yer lungs and all...Nn...”
*Smooch*
“...Heh. Don’t be reactin’ already. Hehehe...Do ya want me? Huh?”
You shake your head.
“...Ya really aren’t honest with yerself. ‘Kay then. I won’t bite ya today. ...But instead...Nn...”
*Smooch*
“Don’t chicken out. I can’t kiss ya like this. Come on, part yer lips a little more. Or do ya want me to pry them open instead, ah?”
You slowly part your lips.
“Hehe...Great job. Mm...Ya really are my very own exclusive Sow...”
*Smooch*
“Haah...I won’t be able to stop at this rate. ...Imma mark you in a different way than with my fangs. Mmh...”
Yuma leaves a hickey on you.
*Smooch*
“...Phew~ It left a bright red mark. ...This side’s up next then. Nn...”
You protest.
“...Nnhー! Don’t move! I can’t mark ya like this...Nn...”
*Smooch*
“...Actually, this is kinda rough. There’s this high quality blood right in front of me, but I have to abstain.”
Yuma takes a deep breath.
“Haah...It’s the scent of delicious blood.”
You flinch.
“Hm? Just feelin’ my breath on yer skin’s enough to get a reaction out of ya? You’re way too sensitive.”
You protest.
“What? Why do ya look dissatisfied? I’m over here tryin’ my best to hold back ‘cause ya said ya didn’ want to get bitten, remember? If that’s makin’ ya unhappy...Hehe, I guess ya really do want to be pleasured by my fangs.”
You deny it.
“No point in tryin’ to cover it up. Don’t ya think it’s ‘bout time ya realize that yer body speaks louder than a thousand words? Haah...When ya make that kinda expression, I seriously end up cravin’ yer blood. I start yearnin’ for ya. ...From this arm, for example.”
Yuma suddenly bites you.
“Nnhーー!!”
*Sluuuuurp*
“...Haah! Haah...I can’t get enough...It really tastes extra special after endurin’ it for a bit...Relax. Otherwise it’ll hurt, right?”
*Rustle rustle*
“...You’re shaky in yer step. Ya must really like my fangs. Hehe. If ya want more, then stand properly on yer legs.”
You get back up.
“...What do ya want me to do, huh?”
You beg for his fangs.
“Hehe...You’ve just been dyin’ for this, haven’t ya? ...Yer honest side honestly drives me crazy.”
*Rustle*
“I’ll suck from yer lower back next as well. Nn...Lemme hear more of those sweet cries, ‘kay?”
Yuma bites you again.
*Ding・dong*
“...!? The fuck!? We’re just at the good part too!”
You try and walk towards the door but he stops you.
*Rustle*
“...Hey, wait. Ya don’t need to go.”
You insist.
“Che...Didn’t ya hear me when I said ya don’t need to go just now? Imma hurt yーー”
*Ding・dongー Ding・dong*
“(mutters) ...Can this person read the mood, for fuck’s sake...”
You tell him it might be urgent.
“Shut up! Just stay here. ...Heh. Actually, were ya gonna answer the door lookin’ like that?”
You look down at yourself and grow embarrassed.
“Hehe...You’re covered in both hickeys and bite marks, ya know? Well, if ya wanna go that badly, be my guest then. I’m not stoppin’ ya. That’s a fittin’ look for a Sow after all.”
You shake your head.
“Hehehe. Figured so~ ...In that case, ya can’t show yerself in public.”
Yuma pulls you close.
*Rustle*
“ー With that bein’ said, let’s continue. I’m not lettin’ ya off the hook just yet. Hehe~ Let’s see...I’ll bite ya here next.”
He bites you again.
*Sluuuurp*
“I figured it was ‘bout time I marked this disobedient Sow again to remind her of who she belongs to. Haha...Puttin’ these where ya can see them really is the way to go. Gotta show everyone that you’re mine, no? Haahn...”
*Sluuuurp*
“...Hah! Haah...Look at that dreamy look in yer eyes...Ya really like this spot best, don’t ya? ...Fine by me. I’ll do it more then. I’ll thrust them in nice and deep...”
*Rustle*
“So cry out for me sweetly, ‘kay? Also...Show me all of your shameful expressions. Entice me more.”

Statement #3 of the Reigen Files (Name Pending)
[CLICK]
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Oh, a computer! Nice, nice, very nice.”
[A clatter of someone dropping into a chair with two much force. The table squeaks as it is nudged out of alignment.]
ARATAKA REIGEN: “How-eh-how’s the, «what’s the word again…» the recorder?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “Fortunately, its cover was just cracked and the tape was fine, no thanks to you.”
ARATAKA REIGEN: [Sucking in air through teeth.] «C-crap.»
ARATAKA REIGEN: “I can pay for a new one?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “It’s fine, Mr. Reigen. Just, just try not to gesticulate too wildly this time, alright?”
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Eh, what is ges-gesti—?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “Oh, damn, uh…Movement. No big movement, like this, right?”
[There’s a faint sound of a hand smacking against plastic.]
THE ARCHIVIST: “Ow! Oh, damn—”
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Sims?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “…At least the laptop’s screen’s fine. So, so no big movement like that, got it?
ARATAKA REIGEN: “No big movement! Got it!”
[Another clatter as something else on the table is hit.]
THE ARCHIVIST: “…Let’s just get this over with, shall we?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “Statement of Arataka Reigen, regarding…” [Weary Sigh] “…Regarding the time his parents forgot to pack him a lunchbox for a school sports day. Statement is taken directly from subject by Jonathan Sims, Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, whose time Mr. Arakata apparently sees fit to waste at his leisure, on June 12th, 2016 at 11:45 AM. Statement begins.”
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Well, I want to say it was maybe…3rd grade in elementary school?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “I beg your pardon?”
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Elementary?” «I’m sure that’s the right word…» “The school you go to when you’re…eight, I think?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “Oh, you mean primary. Right, okay. Please continue.”
ARATAKA REIGEN: «…Okay… I could’ve sworn it was…anyway,» “I was eight years old. It was my school sports day. I was in class 3-B, and we were the red team that year. We had done well that year, because we had Urashima Taro in our class. We didn’t do so well the next year, because he moved down to 4-C, but we had him that year, and he was really strong and the fastest runner put of everyone. Of course, I helped us get a victory over 3-A in the rope-pull, so I was pretty important to our success too. But then lunch time came, and everyone in my class went off with their parents to eat their lunchboxes. You know what it was like in the one hundred and eighties, where everyone’s parents had to work to buy the next meal for the week. Well, my mom and my dad could not come because both of them were working that day. But I guess both of them had forgot to tell each other that? So after the rope tug, I went to go have lunch like all my classmates, only no one was there. And they’d both forgotten to pack me something to eat on my own, even? So I was just staring at everyone else eating, with their mommies and daddies, and feeling really, really hungry. And it was weird, because my vision got kinda…«what’s the word…» fuzzy? Like I was in a…«mist», you know? When clouds come down to where you can see and it goes all white?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “You mean foggy?”
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Foggy!” «That’s the word, I need to remember that for next time…» “Yeah, yeah, foggy. And I am in the foggy, staring at all these people, but they are hard to see. Hard to hear. Almost like I’m the only real person and they’re just…extras? Like in a movie? And I’m really, really hungry, and I’m wishing I had some…some food. Or a person to talk to, like everyone else. And then there was a hand on my shoulder. It really scared me, because I thought I was alone! It was Tanaka-sensei, my…«…I know this!» Ah! Homeroom teacher! Yeah, yeah, homeroom teacher. And he was scared because he saw me just staring at everyone, not moving, and Tanaka-sensei asked me where my parents were. And I said they weren’t here, and I had no lunchbox. So Tanaka-sensei gave me his banana and peanut butter sandwich, because I had no lunch. It was pretty good. But what I learned most on that day was that it was okay if your mom or dad or whoever takes care of you didn't show up, even if it was to something important to you. Because there are other adults who will care, even if they aren’t them, and that’s okay. But when you’re an adult, and you have a kid like that, you gotta do your best to be like Tanaka-sensei was to you to them. It’s what being an adult means. I have students like that, and I made sure to make Mob a peanut butter and banana sandwich when he was training for his club. Tome’s allergic to peanuts though, so she prefers cheese and egg sandwiches.”
ARATAKA REIGEN: “I have some pictures of Mob in his club, wanna see?
THE ARCHIVIST: “That’s quite alright Mr. Reigen, I—”
ARATAKA REIGEN: [Clearly ignoring his protests] “Yeah, see, here, this is Mob training for his first race! He was so excited for it, and he did super good, even if he ended up tripping at the start! He was «74th» in his year! Wait, I have a video here—”
THE ARCHIVIST: [Slightly desperately] “Is this really necessary—”
[Slightly tinny sound of a video being played through a phone’s speakers. There’s the sound of clamorous cheering in Japanese, in concert with wild and slightly too enthusiastic applause. Faint sounds of people running are audible beneath the sounds of support. Reigen’s voice calling out for Mob is much louder than anyone else’s.]
THE ARCHIVIST: “Ah. How lovely.”
ARATAKA REIGEN: «Right?» “Mob’s on the track and field team at Tokyo U now! He’s in his second year.” [A wistful sigh]«They grow up too fast… I remember when he barely came up to my knee, when he first came into my office…»
THE ARCHIVIST: “That’s very nice, Mr. Reigen. But if we’re quite finished?”
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Well, I guess—”
THE ARCHIVIST: “Wonderful. Why don’t you go and wait in the bullpen and Martin will fix you a cup of tea? We’ll be sure to look into this and see if it is anything more than childhood drivel and get back to you, posthaste.”
[Clatter of someone being not so gently guided out of their chair and shown the door]
ARATAKA REIGEN: “Okay? Wait, what does ‘drivel’ mea—”
[The door slamming shut in his face cuts off the end of his sentence.]
THE ARCHIVIST: “Oh thank God.”
[Slow trudging steps of someone shouldering a burden too heavy for their shoulders and slumping into their chair with more force than strictly necessary. The table squeaks in complaint again.]
THE ARCHIVIST: “I need a pay raise. Some similarities to Naomi Herne’s statement, but honestly I expect that’s more a result of Mr. Reigen’s sense of melodrama than anything else. Honestly, if Elias expects me to entertain these frivolities…”
[A pause. Shuffling as papers and miscellaneous pens and other utensils are shunted aside before audio quality suddenly increases.]
THE ARCHIVIST: “Wh-? What’s this doing here? And it’s…running?”
THE ARCHIVIST: “Ugh, MARTIN! How many times have I told you, we only have a limited supply of these tapes, we can’t afford to leave them running them willy-nilly, honestly—!”

So you’re done with The Untamed and want more, what now?
Reposting this since I’ve updated it with new info/links. Again, I entered the fandom via The Untamed so I’m by no means a MDZS expert, just tried my best gathering all the resources I can which I hope will help some new Untamed/MDZS fan out there. If you spot any errors, don’t yell at me, just let me know and I’ll correct it as best I can, especially for any future reposts.
READ THE NOVEL
Read the original web novel the show was based on: The Untamed (aka “CQL” or “Chen Qing Ling”) was adapted from the BL web novel, Mo Dao Zu Shi (aka ”MDZS” or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) by author Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (”MXTX”). Yes the novel came first, CQL is only an adaptation. In the novel, you get the uncensored romance of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, where they are canonically married and living happily ever after. The novel goes full into R18 territory so please tread carefully.
All four volumes of the novel can be purchased from the original publishing site, JJWXC. The site’s in chinese but here’s a tutorial on how to navigate it and purchase the books: JJWXC Tutorial Link.
There’s also the option of purchasing the physical copies from Yesasia which might be easier but it’s also more expensive since they’re the middle man: Yesasia MDZS Link
It would be wonderful if you can support MXTX-laoshi by actually buying the books, especially since the cover art is so beautiful and the extra chapter volumes come with a lot of awesome extra goodies, but of course there’s also the option of reading the fan translations graciously provided by the Exiled Rebels Scanlations team at their site:
They translated all the novels including the bonus chapters in their own free time and are providing the fanslations for free so please give them some love for all their hard work.
WATCH THE ANIME (aka “Donghua” in Chinese)
Watch the anime based on the novel: The donghua was released before The Untamed. Two seasons are already available (23 eps total) with a third season in production and a special chibi version of the donghua in production as well. The Eng-subbed donghua can be seen using the WeTV app or on Youtube: YT MDZS Donghua Playlist
Grant it, the donghua is even more censored than The Untamed, but the donghua team still managed to sneak in some easter eggs (f.e. WangXian naked bathing scene in the cold springs from the novel...in The Untamed they were fully clothed) and more importantly, the animation is just gorgeous so it’s absolutely worth a watch despite the censorship.
READ THE MANGA (aka “Manhua” in Chinese)
Read the manhua which is ongoing and is being officially translated by WeComics, available on their app for free. Search under the name “Mo Dao Zu Shi”.
Unfortunately, the official translations are more than 20 chaps behind the raws and there have been complaints about the quality of the translations in the past, but I believe they’re starting to improve so since they’re official, it’s always better to support the official source.
The raw untranslated manhua can be found on the Kuaikanmanhua app. Other than being in Chinese, some of the chapters (f.e. the most recent ones) are behind a paywall, but here’s a tutorial on how to purchase the chapters, provided by @chiharuzushi on Twitter: Kuaikanmanhua Tutorial
The chapters are quite cheap...I purchase 1000 KK coins for 10 rmb ($0.14) and each chapter is only 68 KK coins so even if we end up with 500 chapters it’ll still be...er...quite cheap overall (don’t make me do the actual math). The most painful part is figuring out how to set up the Kuaikanmanhua account, but otherwise, if you can read Chinese or know enough of the story by now that you don’t really need to read the words, the manhua is definitely worth reading because it’s less censored than The Untamed and the donghua.
LISTEN TO THE AUDIO DRAMA
Listen to the audio drama, which is at this point the most faithful and LEAST censored adaptation of the novel we will probably ever get! Wei Ying’s voice actor in The Untamed is the voice actor for his audio drama counterpart. (Yes, almost everyone in The Untamed is dubbed by a voice actor, EXCEPT for Nie Huaisang. Ji Li, the actor for NHS, was the only one who used his own voice. Lan Zhan in The Untamed shares the same voice actor as his character in the donghua).
Each episode art of the audio drama is AMAZING. Google Translate works well on the site, you’d want to see the listeners’ comments cuz they’re just adorable and hilarious.
Official links on Maoer FM:
Season 1: Maoer FM S1 Link
Season 2: Maoer FM S2 Link
Season 3: Maoer FM S3 Link
The audio drama was supervised by MXTX-laoshi, the author of the novel, so a lot of love and care went into the production, and it shows. The audio drama is behind a paywall but I remember it’s relatively inexpensive. Here’s the tutorial on how to purchase the audio drama from the Maoer FM site: Maoer FM Tutorial Link
Ngl, it was tough at first navigating all that, Google translate helped, but once I figured it out, it was all so worth it because in addition to the MDZS, the site houses a lot of other wonderful audio dramas. There are also MDZS fan songs on the site that are near professional quality and oh so good.
Suibian Subs have kindly translated the episodes and their translations are available here: Suibian Subs MDZS Audio Drama
Show them some love too for translating the episodes, but please if you can, purchase the episodes so you can support the audio drama team which have done an amazing job.
There’s even a Japanese audio drama which the Chinese AD team helped spearhead, available on the MIMI FM app. Here’s a tutorial on how to purchase the eps (half of the first season is out): MIMI FM Tutorial
It’s in Japanese but just follow the pictures. I’m hoping that the Japanese audio drama will end up being the MOST uncensored version of MDZS since Japanese BL dramas are not afraid (and allowed) to go all the way to R18. XD
MORE THE UNTAMED CONTENT
Lastly, if you’re just thirsting for more Untamed content, there are two spin-off movies you can watch. The first one, The Living Dead, is kind of centered on Wen Ning and Sizhui post-CQL.
The second one, Fatal Journey, is focused on the Nie brothers, Nie Mingjue and Nie Huaisang, with a cameo by Jin Guangyao. It takes place prior to Wei Ying’s return from the dead.
Of the two movies, I definitely recommend Fatal Journey more. Both movies are available on the iQiyi app, which offers a one month free trial for first members. Each month afterwards for VIP is $6.99.
You can also go on the WeTV app for even more Untamed extras: WeTV put out a special edition cut of the show which tightened up the story AND features the original ending that was intended before censorship forced the production team to come up with the more ambiguous one we saw in its original run. It was a simple matter of rearranging certain scenes and getting rid of the separation part, but imho it really made all the difference to the ending.
There’s a ton of behind-the-scene cuteness that you can watch and also concerts with the cast in Thailand and Nanjing. VIP subscription to the WeTV app is $5.99/month and the Nanjing concert is for rent for 3 months at about the same price.
The show also put out two official soundtracks, one for the vocals and one for the score. Both are available on Amazon and iTunes. For Amazon though, you can search under “The Untamed” but they did this weird thing where the vocals one is listed as “The Untamed (Chinoiserie Music Album)” (wtf) while the score is just listed as “The Untamed (Original Soundtrack)”.
Finally, most of the male members of the cast took part in a fan meet and greet at the start of the show, before it became hugely popular. The entire meet and greet is available on youtube subbed: The Untamed Fan Meeting
That’s it for The Untamed and MDZS. If you end up liking the novel enough to want to read more by the same author, MXTX-laoshi has also written two other BL novels, The Scum Villain Self-Saving System (aka “SVSSS” or “Scum Villain”) and Heaven’s Official Blessing (aka “TGCF” after its Chinese title). Both have been fully translated by fans (but always try to buy the original if you have the means, as a way to support the author!):
SVSSS Translation: BC Novels Link
TGCF Translation chaps 1 - 24: Sakhyulations Link
TGCF Translation chaps 25 - End: Suika & Rynn Link
As with reading any BL novel (aka “danmei novel” for Chinese BL books), please heed the warnings and if it’s not your cup of tea, just exit out of the page and move on with your life. No big deal, right?
Anyway, hope all this info dump helps someone! If you’re brand spanking new to this fandom, welcome, and I’m so jealous of you! Would love to relive stepping into the world of MDZS/MXTX/danmei novels all over again since I feel like I’m already running out of stuff to read and I’m beginning to panic a little.
Happy watching/reading/listening!

A Tale of a Thousand Stars ep 6 thoughts/reaction
the juxtaposition of the kites vs the cars, and what really makes the kites more fun is that its’ group activity whereas he’s alone with the cars
god, phupha is so fucking in love, i love how explicitly clear their affection for each other made even if they have a hard time saying out loud
i wanted nam to scold tian a bit more but im also glad that the scene was pretty soft bc i feel like tian would prob respond better to gentleness and if the dr had been really harsh that would’ve just made tian feel worse
but i love the conflict in this scene bc he knows dr nam is prob right but he can’t express the entirety of why he needs to be there and why he can’t return to his old life
phupha sensing that tian doesn’t really want to talk about what happened and not pressuring him with questions even tho he clearly wants to ask
the way tian’s voice cracks a bit when he’s talking about torfun
poor longtae tho finding out the news in that way
i’ve been waiting since ep 1 for the scene of tian braiding the girls’ hair
kinda torn bc i love the character growth of tian realizing that his actions have consequences that he cant solve with his dad’s money but at the same time it’s very frustrating to watch
not phupha being jealous over tul
poor tul must be so confused
phupha not being able to hide his smile when he smells tian’s hand
“it smells nice” the sachet or his hand
i am living for the longtae x tian friendship
tian lowkey trying to flirt his way into selling the sachets, then using longtae to flirt his way into selling the sachets
okay but the parallel between the kids asking about torfun when tian first got there to the kids asking about tian when he’s gone
character A asking children what character B thinks about them is such a high quality trope
also the kids asking phupha to ask tian to stay is so pure, also them lowkey threatening phupha so that he wont scare tian away
also how much does tian gush complain about phupha to the children lol
hey what is the ring that phupha wears on a necklace?
the image of phupha with the children climbing on him
tian “he’s a hot guy you know,” referring to how popular longtae was with the shopkeepers and phupha misunderstanding
i also really liked the jealousy for longtae this ep bc it wasn’t necessarily targeted at longtae (like it wasn’t personal) it was more the fact that it played into phupha’s existing insecurities that tian would be better suited with someone his own age that he connects with, plus longtae goes to college in the city and can relate more to tian in that sense
cant tell if tian is actually that dense and didn’t realize phupha meant himself when he said he wasnt alone or if he was just teasing phupha
i love how much screentime the children had this episode, they’re so precious
lol tian realizing that tourists would go nuts for bags with names of poor children who made them
im so proud of tian for coming up with this idea and helping the villagers
phupha’s cute little thumbs up
phupha’s smirk when tian turns around, he’s so proud of himself for his little joke
someone needs to make a crack video using that audio that’s like “a love story told entirely in stares...and more stares...and even more stares”
god tho, just they way they stare at each other and start smiling then start laughing, it’s so sweet and intimate
tian and longtae: *discussing serious things like torfun* phupha: really? flirting? right in front of my salad?
phupha is one of those rare well written tsundere characters
phupha getting excited about another date with tian then disappointed when tian isn’t coming with him
phupha is such a child and i love him
sakda need to leave tian tf alone
we love some product placement (but i will give them a pass bc it was pretty cute)
i am also living for phupha x nam friendship, that whole interaction where phupha is trying to stop nam from embarrassing him but trying to do it discretely so no one sees
kinda random but i enjoy the little details like the signs on all the boxes with the sachets were written by different people bc there’s several different handwritings
the fucking fondness in tian’s gaze literally every time he looks at phupha this ep
tian is literally telling you to tell him your feelings phupha, please just end all our suffering
also the way phupha subtly alludes to some of his insecurities and tian shuts it down saying he likes the way phupha is
phupha, are you really the same person who blatantly smelled tian’s hand then gave him that hand massage earlier?
okay but the way tian gets so hopeful when phupha asks him to stay and he keeps trying to get phupha to say he wants him to stay
yod, i love you so much, but i really want to strangle you right now
but that scene really was so good, earth and mix did a really good job bc they conveyed so much without words
but damn i really did think they were gonna get somewhere this ep (but no worries bc they’re going somewhere next ep)
“they will know that your heart has come back to them” is such a poetic line and i really do like the meaning behind it, i just wish tian didn’t mean it in such a self-deprecating way
not me crying at the way phupha cuddles the fucking tea sachet
tian, don’t run into the fucking burning building! think about your heart! think about my heart!
but poor tian bc this building is really his new home as much as his hut is and to see it being burned down
but damn this is really the third time he’s collapsed in phupha’s arms
at least they include a cute fluffy scene at the end of each ep to make up for the angsty cliffhangers
where do i even start with the preview for next week
i really hope they kiss but im worried tian will ruin the mood by bringing up torfun (but also i hope he does finally talk about torfun and get it out there already)
i really can’t wait for next week
anyways, this was such a good ep (like always), quality character development, quality phutian moments, we’re really starting to get into the conflict now

Kurokawa Rei’s Birthday PriZoom 8/8/2021
YOOOOOO
Reminder that prizooms are also accessible to everyone and don’t require any Japanese residency confirmation!! If you’re interested in attending, please go and support kinpri!!!
Soundboard hell I love you so much
So this time I only went to the second showing for Rei’s birthday event! I also chose the chat-only room because that’s what I started out with and I loved it so I wanted that same experience again. They were showing sss part 4 with the Rei+Hijiri PrismChat as a bonus! Which was perfect because :
1) Ever since Jin’s birthday I’ve been missing the cheering screening experience (even if it’s not in a theater it counts!!! the community is what makes it!!!!!!)
2) I did mention being curious as to if anyone would try to hit YO to Platonic Sword in Jin’s post
3) I was interested in the Rei+Hijiri PrismChat!
RakutenTicket sends the link to the soundboard early and apparently they use the same link for every showing in the event so I got to listen in on the first course’s soundboard hell while waiting for the second course to start! I was wondering if people tried to YO along to the lives in every prizoom event, made me happy to hear that they do! Oddly enough, I find that cacophony soothing in a way? I’d love for them to put out a demo soundboard or something so you can just play around with it whenever
Also, not sure about the actual gender statistics of who attends prizooms, but it seems like most people choose the male voice option regardless? Probably because the male YO sound is funnier and being synced with everyone adds to it?
There weren’t any audio problems this time, but the video quality was noticeably worse. While attending I was thinking that I actually liked the audio problems since they unintentionally make prizooms more fun thanks to how it heightens the community experience (everyone spams 頑張ってー/ “ganbatte” together!!!). With bad video it’s just kind of sad haha. I mean I guess it’d be better to have no issues at all (...maybe....... it does increase the fun) but if lower resolution is the trade off for audio problems then I’d prefer audio problems.....
In the little waiting period before part 4 actually started (takes a while for participants to trickle in since people are let into the rooms and verified manually), they play music which is nice!!! Especially since it helps for cheering practice. Daisuki Refrain was particularly memorable since it was so YO-able...... made me think about the contrast between Shin’s actual song and Platonic Sword (which has a reputation as the uncheerable song). Nice to see that even without mics or being able to properly cheer, the feelings remain consistent between (what I’ve heard about) theater showings and prizoom chat-only rooms!
Platonic Sword actually is really difficult to YO to but people tried their best anyways, the only agreed upon part to YO to is after every new pose in that one bit where Shine dies a bit and then stabs himself.
Part 4 is SUPER SERIOUS sometimes because of all the prism messenger plot so the soundboard is just DEAD SILENT during those parts because everyone’s just in terror. Really adds to the experience since people try to cheer as much as possible! The most used sounds for the Shine parts are just “ME TOO” whenever he talks about love (people simp for Shine!) and “出たー! / AAA THERE IT IS!!!” just whenever he appears/stabs someone/does that eye thing.
What surprised me the most though was how many people REALLY LIKE SANADA??? There’s just SO MUCH CHEERING whenever he appears???? It gave me whiplash every time. Sanada is actually my 3rd favorite character (after Jin and Joji because I have awful taste so I love them and their dynamic as a trio) and I really didn’t expect anyone else to like him because he’s just horrible?? I hate-love him. But apparently people genuinely love Sanada. Honestly the most terrifying memory coming out of a part 4 screening to me.
BRILLIANT OATH’S CHEERING WAS REALLY GOOD TOO!!! Mics aren’t allowed in the chat-only rooms so nobody can properly sing along for the audience part but that’s NOT A PROBLEM THANKS TO THE SOUNDBOARD!!! Everyone just spams YO along to every syllable and it’s just SO FUNNY. Like there’s this super emotional moment where a new deity is born to regrant the prism sparkle in a world that the gods abandoned.... through the sheer power of everyone yelling YO. Beautiful
A lot of the notable participants (like the Victoria cosplayer) from Jin’s showing were here too. It wasn’t as crazy as Jin’s but it was cool seeing all the cosplayers and everyone’s plushies! Also cool seeing that the person who made the cute custom Jin plushie made one for Rei too??
💖 💖 💖
Here’s a link to my recording of the bonus !
Luna actually already translated the bonus PrismChat between Rei and Hijiri (thank you Luna!!) before I got around to finishing up this post! If you’re reading this, then go and give her translation work the appreciation it deserves!! Also go read her new prism rush translation!
(I actually haven’t gotten around to finishing reading it myself because between making prizoom posts and just being busy with life I wasn’t able to properly focus and give it my full attention ;;;>_> BUT AFTER THIS!!)
And errr try not to spread my recording around too much just in case if any staff decides that archiving content that will probably never be released officially or translated is a reason to start cracking down on making things less accessible for an overseas audience ^^;;;;;;
💖 💖 💖
ANYWAYS!!!!
IT WAS REALLY FUN!!!! It was really nice being able to attend a prizoom again!!
For the feedback form, I put in a request to give Sanada a birthday so he can get the prizoom treatment because oh my god people go crazy for him. Unfortunately I do too. They really need to give him the Yamada treatment and market him more, I’m pretty sure Sanada’s more popular than Yamada too? OooOo kinpri you want to put out more content and take my money ooooOoOoooOoooo
And lastly, reminder that anyone can attend prizooms!!! And if you’re interested then you really should!!!! I’ll be posting a guide for the ticket buying process later to help with that!!!

𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐃𝐒 ☁ 𝐩.𝐣𝐬
summary: park jisung was supposed to be more than a passing cloud, than a fleeting moment.
↳ (adj) describing something that doesn’t last as long as you’d like.
pairing: reader + park jisung genre: high school!au, angst word count: 2.4k warnings: language
author’s note: this was supposed to be a blurb but it kind of turned into a really long drabble or oneshot, whatever you wanna call it hehe. it’s been about two or three years since i last written something so i’m quite rusty but please enjoy and let me know what you think!
“hey jisung, we’re still on for tonight right?” you chirped cheerily, not bothering to hide the cheeky smile adorning your face. you had been looking forward to this all week, and it was really hard not to show it. you skipped over to his side of the room, taking a seat besides him.
you had been harboring a crush on your friend for god-knows how long (about a year actually) and had jokingly suggested that he owed you a movie date days ago during your weekly study session with him. to your pleasant surprise, he had agreed without any hesitation, and you had taken that as a sign that maybe — just maybe, he saw you as more than just a friend. maybe.
you frowned when you realized you hadn’t gotten a response and looked up to see jisung’s fluffy brown hair engrossed in his video game on his tablet. “hey! jisung!” you called out again across the desk.
no reaction.
you rolled your eyes and sighed before grabbing a pencil and lightly throwing it to get his attention. it hit his shoulder, causing him to finally glance up. he scowled and barked out a “what do you want?” before returning his concentration on his game.
“woah, sorry...” you felt awkward now realizing how annoyed he was. “i just wanted to ask if we were still on for tonight.”
he looked up again, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “what’s tonight?”
before you even realize it, a deep scowl marred your face. how could he forget? you had been mentioning it all week now.
“you know, the movie...? the one you promised we’d watch together?” you asked eagerly, hoping his brain would get off of whatever game he was playing and return back to reality.
“oh. that.” his tone was indifferent and you couldn’t help but tense up in annoyance. he really forgot? “yeah, sure...” before quietly mumbling, “if i’m free.”
you wanted to scoff at his dryness, but chose to be considerate and give him the benefit of the doubt. maybe he just wasn’t having a good day and he wanted to be left alone for now. maybe if you gave him some space he’d be in a better mood tonight. hopefully, you thought.
“i’m going to go, but i’ll text you, ‘kay?” you tried your best to smile despite the butterflies swirling in your stomach (the bad ones, the ones that looked pretty but were actually poisonous), but jisung doesn’t even bother to lift his head from the screen before muttering something that sounded vaguely like a bye. you sigh, and turn on your heel quickly.
hopefully all would go well tonight.
you spoke too soon.
☁
you had texted jisung an hour or two before the designated time you both were supposed to meet each other at the movie theater, asking if he was free later to confirm that your plans and he had simply responded with “probably.” you would be lying to say that his offhandedness about this entire situation wasn’t bothering you at all but you had been so excited for this opportunity to finally spend some quality time with him that you were willing to overlook his odd behavior.
you had decided to leave the house about thirty minutes before you were supposed to be at the movie theater, and quickly took your phone out to text him.
to: pwark jwisung♥︎ [6:04pm]
➤ hey i’m about to leave the house! ➤ don’t forget to bring an umbrella. it looks kind of rainy outside
you peered outside the window, looking at the gloomy skies. however, you were determined that nothing was going to ruin tonight for you, not even some threatening grey clouds. by the time you arrived, you checked your phone again. you bit your lip in exasperation to see no notifications pop up, unlocking your phone only to see that jisung hadn’t even read your messages. maybe he was busy and simply saw it without opening the chat.
obviously, jisung wasn’t the most punctual person in the world, but you had specifically told him to come earlier than you days ago for that very matter. the weather outside seemed to be an omen, but you remained adamant. no stormy weather was going to ruin your time as long as you had jisung by your side. he was going to be here soon and you would have a good time, like you had hoped.
to: pwark jwisung♥︎ [6:21pm]
➤ im here! are you here yet or are you on your way?
[6:30pm]
➤ ji?
you decided after nervously waiting outside the doors, watching the skies slowly get darker and darker (as if it was a sign of impending doom), that maybe it would be a good to finally call him. you had scrolled on your social media to pass time, and saw he was online. maybe something had happened?
you tapped on your phone, letting the call ring only to wait for an automated voicemail of “hey it’s jisung, i’m probably busy rig— hey! jaemin! give me my phone back! oh my god, stop it, i’m trying to record a voicema—“
you felt your chest constrict as you took in a deep breath and exhaled shakily. there’s no way he forgot... right? you had just talked to him today about it. maybe his phone died or he was playing another silly prank on you and hiding somewhere.
[6:43pm]
➤ hey idiot responddddd ➤ if this is some funny prank, come out! you win :(
[6:57pm]
➤ come on ji, im actually going to get mad if you don’t show up soon >:( ➤ you were just on instagram like 15 minutes ago...? is something wrong? please let me know.
the number of strangers who passed by you who eyed you curiously increased, and you couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with anxiety. you hated waiting alone, especially in public. it was nerve wracking and jisung knew it. your feelings of doubt and unease were creeping up behind you. maybe this was all just a bad nightmare and you’d wake up from it soon.
the skies began to drizzle as you stood beneath the awning of the movie theater. your body was clammy and shivering. it was cold and you had forgotten your jacket and umbrella, despite even reminding jisung to bring himself an umbrella. just your luck.
you glanced at the clock ticking by, and you knew the showing of the movie had started long ago. however there was another showtime, so you tried your best not to fret. if he showed up soon, you could still watch the movie. if not, any other movie would’ve been okay with you. where is he? why isn’t he showing up?
you decide after waiting for almost 45 minutes that you should give him another call. it went straight to voicemail again. you felt tears finally begin to prickle in your eyes as you angrily typed out a message to him.
[7:12pm]
➤ jisung... if you were busy you could’ve just told me. ➤ this really isn’t a funny joke at all. i’m actually pretty upset. ➤ the last showtime is in 15 minutes, please text or call back.
frustration and betrayal overcame your body as you began trembling, trying your best to hold in your tears. the number of people entering had diminished, but you refused to let yourself cry in public. this was already humiliating enough as it was.
you decided as a last resort to call one of his friends, and you scrolled through your contacts before dialing na jaemin’s number.
after a few rings, he picked up to your great surprise.
“hey (y/n)! what’s up?”
“um, hey.. i-i was just wondering, if... jisung was with you by any chance...?”
you heard some shuffling around before he spoke up again. “uh yeah, he is actually. is something wrong...? you don’t sound okay.”
you bit your lip, holding in a sigh of relief because jisung was okay and alive before realizing that your tears were about to burst. you swallowed your tears and let out another shaky breath before answering.
“c-can i just talk to jisung please? he hasn’t been picking up my calls.” you sniffled, voice cracking as you gripped your phone tightly.
jaemin frowned on the other end of the call before, managing to sense your urgency and emotion in your voice. “okay, give me a second,“ as he went to find the younger boy.
“hey jisung, (y/n)‘s on the phone,” you could some hear yelling in the back before you heard some more shuffling and screaming. jaemin tried to cover his phone’s mic but you managed to pick up bits of the conversation anyways.
“what is it jaemin? i’m in the middle of a game right now,” jisung’s deep voice spoke in an irked tone. you would recognize his voice anywhere — what you once deemed to be soothing no longer brought the sense of comfort you needed right now.
“jisung, she called me saying ... hadn’t been picking up ... calls! tell hyuck.. play for you and talk ... now!” you could hear some groaning through the crackly audio, before jisung’s voice piped up on the line.
“um, hey (y/n) what’s up? why’d you call me... i’m kinda busy right now.”
your lips quivered along, feeling your heart fall before the dam actually broke. you croaked out, “park jisung.. don’t you remember what tonight was? i’ve been waiting for an hour and a half now! i thought you were dying or something.”
jisung’s eyes widened before he sighed, “uh, shoot sorry. i’m busy with the boys right now and kinda forgot.” your tears dripped down your face as the raining outside ironically began to pour down harder at that very moment. you almost dropped your phone in shock. that was his reason for not making it? you felt as if your heart was being crushed, suffocated by jisung’s hands. how could he be so.. callous?
“jisung, we’ve talked about this all week and you promised! i asked you this morning, and afternoon and i even texted you!” sobs began to wrack through your body as you could no longer contain it anymore. you tried to wipe the tears away as quickly as you could, not wanting anyone to witness your meltdown, yet to no avail. “how could you forget?”
jisung rolled his eyes and sighed. he didn’t know why you were just attacking him like this and interrupting him in the middle of a game. he retorted with irritation piercing his voice, “look (y/n), i don’t know why you’re being so dramatic but like it’s not that big of a deal. it’s just another dumb movie anyways, and i didn’t even really think these were definite plans. i said probably and things change, you know that.”
embarrassment flushed through your body, before anger replaced it.
you swallowed harshly, feeling all self-restraint leave your body, all your anger and bitterness clouding your thoughts leaving you dizzy and breathless. “i can’t believe you... i waited for you because i thought.. that you were excited for this chance too.”
“my friends always come first, you know that! i thought i made that perfectly clear so why are you so upset?” jisung barked out, clenching his fists. he knew he was wrong but he was stubborn and irritated, wanting nothing more but to go back and claim his victory instead of wasting his time arguing with you.
you couldn’t believe your ears, your heart shattering as you took in every word he was saying. was this the same park jisung you knew and fell in love with? how could it be? you were an idiot for believing he actually liked you back, that you had a chance with him. he had always seemed untouchable, and now you were seeing his true colors. this clearly didn’t mean as much to him as it did to you and you had gotten your answer.
“i have every right to be upset! you made a promise and you broke it. you left me hanging and blew me off, for what? games? there’s more to life than just playing video games with your friends jisung!” you bit your tongue, before continuing, your emotions blowing through the roof as they overtook your body.
“i’m not just some girl you decided to blow off because you didn’t know. i never expected you to choose between me or your friends because i’m also your friend too. i thought we were friends but this shows how much you really care about our friendship. i waited here for you. i don’t want your bullshit excuse anymore, you can go play whatever games you want as long as they’re not with me. i’m not your toy jisung or a game, and you can’t win me like this. have a nice life.”
“wait (y/n)—“ you ended the call hastily, not wanting to hear another word come out of his mouth.
you shut your eyes as you tightly to hold in the tears. if your whole world had been torn away to unveil a big, fat ugly lie in the end. this wasn’t the park jisung you knew. this was park jisung, the boy who you had fallen utterly and hopelessly for. the boy who made your heart flutter with his shameless laugh, who spent hours awake at ungodly hours of night watching anime with you when no one else would. who would make fun of you but spend hours trying to teach you play video games or take you out to eat ice cream whenever he knew you were feeling down.who managed to lift up your mood with his incessant teasing that you grew to learn was just his way of caring, so effortlessly.
how could you be so foolish to work yourself up just to be devastated in the very end? you wished for this to be a nightmare. your hopes of fulfilling your dream date with the boy you had been pining after for the last year or so had been had been crushed. you looked up into the drizzling rain and grey clouds wondering where you had gone wrong. the clouds passed by fleetingly. you could’t help but laugh at how cliché this was. this was how you would remember your heartbreak, under a grey sky full of rain. and there was nothing else you could do about it.
he was nothing but a fleeting cloud passing by in your life.
+ bonus blurb!

@threateningkahootmusic Prejudice and Fame belongs to them.
Vickie sat at the bar, mindlessly looking at her drink. Another long day at work as a news reporter/ investigative journalist, this time something about a corrupt company. Now normally this wouldn’t be an issue.
Except for the fact that she wished she could legally punch in a couple of individuals teeth without immediately facing assault charges.
Among other things, the company was facing allegations of workplace harassment, discrimination, unequal pay of workers based of sex, and an hostile work environment. And from her experience for working undercover there, it was, indeed, true. In fact, she’d say that the allegations weren’t telling enough! The amount of sexist and racist remarks made at her by staff and management alike would be enough to ensure that no new hires would be daring enough to go there. Even Vickie was surprised at herself for getting this far without snapping at someone. Not that it would’ve made a difference if she did.
All of this evidence through recordings and screenshots would make this seem like an open and shut case, right? Not quite. Even with the damning audio recordings, the camera feed, the multitude of paper documents and such, she knew it wouldn’t be enough for anything to really change. She needed something bigger. She knew that as it stood right now, at the very worse the company would blame a few lowly managers as scapegoats, fire them, and then say that they will do better in the future while knowing good and well that they had no plans on doing anything. Hell, even if they did get any legal repercussions, they could just settle out of court and be done with it. No, Vickie would need something bigger.
Right now she would be doing more research into the company had her work friend not dragged her to this self proclaimed “high end club”. Apparently her friend had been assigned to do an interview to this celebrity, Fame, at least that’s what she hoped his stage name was. She didn’t see a point in drawing needless attention to herself to she opted to stay at the bar and subtly watch from afar. Not like she was dressed to be here anyways, her black knee length form fitting dress was too professional to be in a function like this, her black hair wasn’t styled up to anything fancy and her dark skin wasn’t adorned with any makeup too flashy. It looked like she was at a job interview more than a nightclub. She was more worried about her case than anything else.
“Come on now, I know your defining character quality is being a square, but lighten up a bit, let yourself have some fun.”
Vickie’s eyes wondered over to the ghost that seemingly followed her everywhere, Helena. Seeing that Helena was invincible to everyone but her most of the time, she couldn’t outright face her or talk to her in public without looking odd to say the very least. She raised an eyebrow at the ghost. Like hell she was going to let herself get sloppy drunk and make a complete fool of herself. Maybe that was some other’s tastes to get so blasted that the next morning they don’t know where they were, but it wasn’t Vickie’s taste.
Helena could see the look in Vickie’s eyes
“I know what your thinking. I’m not asking you to behave like an absolute moron. But just chill it. You’re not on the clock right now, you’ll always have time to do this tomorrow. But for the love of god stop worrying yourself.” Helena then crossed her arms
“I promise you if you burn yourself out and pass out from pulling an all nighter again, let me you tell, you will not hear the end of my lectures in the morning.”
Vickie sighed. Although she didn’t say anything, she did make it a point to relax her shoulders and let herself slightly slouch a bit. She finished her drink before ordering a new one when commotion could be heard from the other side of the club behind her. Even with the loud music, Vickie could tell something was going on. Helena looked over and moved closer to see what was going on.
“Oh goddamnit, Prejudice, this is the 5th time this month you’ve crashed the party!” Fame grumbled as Prejudice smirked, snatching a drink out of the hand of Vickie’s coworker.
“Yeah, and I’ll do it again. Besides, I like how you get all p!ssy about it.” Prejudice said as he took a drink from his stolen beverage.
Helena moved back over to Vickie
“Don’t look now, but I think that’s the CEO of that company you’re looking into.” Helena whispered despite knowing she couldn’t be heard by anyone else. Vickie stole a glance to confirm what Helena was saying before looking away just as quickly as to not accidentally get unwanted attention.
“The hell’s he doing here? Shouldn’t he be more worried about saving his company’s face by discrediting the allegations?” She muttered quietly to herself as she took a sip from her Bloody Mary. Helena glanced over
“It looks like him and that other fellow know each other.” Helena said. “I’ll keep watch.” Helena said as she floated over to the crowd. Vickie’s grip on her glass tightened. Maybe this could be the chance she’d been looking for to get solid concrete against the company. Since her coworker, besides from an obvious camera crew, had a recording pen on her, maybe the pen might catch something incriminating, maybe embezzlement, tax fraud, something that really couldn’t be ignored, something that could ruin this business and its corrupt ways.
As she took another swing of her drink, she started noticing the feeling of eyes burning into the back of her head, like someone was staring at her. At first she thought it was Helena, until the ghost floated back over and the feeling didn’t go away.
“Did you catch anything?” Vickie whispered subtly.
“No, but he’s been staring at you. I think? He may be looking at your general area but he’s definitely been looking intensely at the bar area.” Helena said.
Vickie wanted to test that theory. She got up from her chair and walked around, acting as though she was merely stretching. The feeling of being watched didn’t fade no matter where she went. Even well after she sat back down in her chair. Ok, he definitely was staring at her. Did this guy somehow know who she really was, what her goals were? She didn’t think so, she’d done a good job hiding it.
By this point, the amount of people in the club dwindled down a bit, at least in the area she was in. Fame had moved to a different spot of the club and so did a large group of the crowd there. Everyone else around her were either drunk or leaving. Vickie was mid drinking her beverage when she felt someone approaching. Great, just great. She didn’t look over as she just wanted to be left alone. But alas, her luck for the night turned to be Jack sh!t as Prejudice sat down in a chair next to hers at the bar.
Vickie didn’t look over, just remained silent and indifferent as Prejudice pretty much ordered the bartender for some hard liquor. Helena looked like she wanted to intervene but Vickie signaled her not to with some cleverly hidden hand signals the two hand memorized over the course of their friendship/ her being tethered to Vickie. It was quiet for a moment, before Prejudice slammed his shot glass. He glanced over at the bartender.
“I’d suggest you take your fat ginger freak a$$ out of here before you also get a taste of what this little dumb bimbo is going to get.” Prejudice said, in this almost joking way, though she could tell by his voice that He at the same time sounded serious. Either way, it was enough to get the bartender out of there.
Vickie didn’t even have time to get up herself when she felt a hand grab her by the hair and slam her face down onto the counter. She felt her arm being twisted behind her back, the grip getting tighter when she struggled. Helena tried to help, to pull the man off of her but she was swatted away like a fly, which set off all alarms bells in Vickie’s brain. This man clearly wasn’t human.
“Now what do we have here? You know, looking at you, I’d think you’re just another dime a dozen mortal sl/t with less brains than a mutt, it took me a bit to discover what you were actually trying to do.” Prejudice said in casual voice that somehow sounded threatening at the same time. Even then, it was how he said theses things that started grinding Vickie’s gears. He said these things like he was entitled to say them, like it was owed to him.
“You may have fooled my dipsh!t employees, you dumb b!tch, but I’m not exactly as easy to convince. I know you plan on finding whatever evidence you can to ‘ruin’ me or whatever you want to call it. What, you plan on cancelling me? You seem like the type to type essays on Twitter on inequalities or whatever nonsense about equality like anyone will give a damn. At least nobody important will care.” He grinned.
“Oh go f*ck yourself you pompous little sh!t!” Vickie growled. She let out a loud hiss of pain as he twisted her arm more as a result.
“Oh, a little feisty? Good, I’ve been wanting something more entertaining than some obedient little pets. So please, go on. I’m going to break that jaw of yours either way but still, I want to hear more.” Prejudice goated on. She felt his hand slowly leave her hair and travel down to her waist.
“You know, if you really wanted to make yourself useful, doll, than you should stop worrying about whatever job you work in and start worrying about wearing something nice. You dress like a sl/t that acts like they’re someone of any respect. Really you’re not fooling anyone ” Prejudice said, the cockiness in his voice was what sent Vickie off to a boiling peak.
Using the mobility gained by his hand not being holding her head down, she stomped on his foot with her heel, as hard as possible, the man let out a curse but before he could really do much she took a shot glass from the table, spun around and smashed it right in his eye. Sure, this did result in her held arm getting twisted even more and probably dislocated, it gave her the opportunity to get free from his grasp as he stumbled back.
She then took this opportunity to start beating him with pretty much everything and anything in sight, fists, heels, a wine bottle she smashed over his head, chairs, anything in sight. All whilst calling him every name in the book, every swear and curse she could think of, hell, she was pretty sure she set a record. But even all of that didn’t really do much, not when immediately after she was backhanded to the ground when he finally got his footing. She didn’t even have time to recover as he grabbed her by her throat and slammed up against a wall, several times. By the time he stopped her head was spinning and blood was dripping from the back of her head. He then held her up off her feet, hand still firmly on her neck and then he squeezed down, hard.
She desperately scratched at his hand, tried to take gasps of air. But his tight grasp cut off her airways, leaving her attempts useless. Even worse, there didn’t even look like she laid a scratch on him, as any and all injuries or bruises inflicted on him had somehow already healed.
Prejudice’s smirk became wider as he squeezed tighter, his free hand yanking out any remaining glass from his eye.
“God, aren’t you just a fidgety little spazz? Hmm? Did you really think you could fight off a god? Though you’ve been great entertainment so far, it’s been a while since someone’s actually tried to fight me. Good to know not every mortal nowadays are p/ssies.” He spoke.
Vickie could see her world starting to turn dark as Prejudice kept talking
“Let’s just get this part over with. You WILL delete whatever ‘evidence’ you have against my company, and you’ll drop this case. If you don’t, we’ll, I’m sure you don’t have many options here, unless you wanna have a meeting with Death.” He said.
“Then, I want you to meet me in my office as soon as you enter the building. Don’t try quitting now that you won’t be able to do that little expose thing. I can ruin you in so many ways I’m sure your pretty little brain won’t comprehend. It’s alright. You don’t have to think, just do as I say and I won’t have to hurt you.. too much, sweetheart.” That ‘sweetheart’ was said in the most patronizing tone that it would’ve made Vickie said had she not been on the brink of passing out from lack of oxygen.
That was when Prejudice finally dropped Vickie, leaving her on the floor taking greedy gasps for air, her lungs burning from the lack of it. Prejudice just smirked at her once more before checking his watch. He took him longer than he thought. No worries, he didn’t have too much planned for today’s anyways.
Vickie laid there weakly on the floor as Prejudice just walked away, as if he didn’t just do what he just did. Helena by this point finally came too and quickly picked up Vickie, getting her out of the club and into her car.
“Vickie, Vickie. Don’t pass out on me, Vickie just try and stay awake! I’ll get help!” Helena said as she dashed over somewhere as Vickie fought to keep her eyes open before exhaustion finally hit and she felt her eyes close, her body forcing her to rest for the sake of recovery.
