MEA liveblog #7
Spoilers!
Multiplayer
This interface is a mess. I move my mouse onto "exit lobby" and it turns into "kick player". Buttons just jump around and transform all the time.
And the APEX mission shit needs to be fixed. When you select a mission to play, don't direct me to lobbies who play the same enemy/map/difficulty but not as the mission! Join lobby, see "custom", exit lobby, select "custom game", re-select mission, join, end up in the same lobby, rinse, repeat...
At least I can end up second when I join on wave 5 as a human vanguard lol
F Human Vanguard card!
Tempest
Non-custom weapons of different rank shouldn't exist as separate items in the inventory! Unlocking a higher rank should upgrade the old item like in ME3! This stupid inventory system exists solely because of crafting! If you need inventory limits so much, let them apply only to the crafted items! I've already complained about rewards being lost with no warning if the inventory is full and it's still bullshit!
I crafted the N7 chestpiece! 25% shield on kill (of course), 5% damage resistance, 2% shield restoration, 2% health&shield regen speed, 2% max shield. I called it "N7 Slayer X". And turns out, it was dad's armor...
Oh right, it needs a new color scheme!
Havarl
I like this ex-STG, he's talking properly.
I don't like the sound effect from Annihilation -- it's like water in my ears!
Hey Peebs, how do you immediately know where the next piece is as soon as we pick the current one?
Kadara
Here's the bar fight. Animation is not bad but has no energy.
Told the asari dancer that I'm done here and she needs to talk to the dude herself, but the quest still sends me back to him -_-
Tempest
So, Kesh was adopted?
Okay, Kalinda is 100% Marjolaine. Peebee's personal storyline is even more copy-pasted from Leliana than Drack's is copypasted from Wrex.
Aya
So many sidequests again!
The Moshae's words about the definition of victory! That's the smartest thing I've heard in this game in hours.
It's really weird to hear her talk so sweetly to me... When we first met she didn’t seem to like me.
When Vetra said people were staring at her, I couldn't resist suggesting they're just all in love...
I suggested taking people who sold their Aya slots onto the Nexus. That's not even charity -- the same ambassador gave me a task to convince angara to come there anyway! So this would kill two birds with one stone.
For the visitor who wanted contact with his family, I had to reload. The options didn't even seem too different... Got it right for the other two: gave an honest professional answer about health issues, and a confident casual answer about finding work.
Great, now I have to head back into the city to buy stuff... This is literally a fetch quest lol
Eos
Omg, the Architect is in orbit now!
The Roekaar fight in an old settlement was very chaotic and fun with Flamethrower/ED/Lance, though it'd probably be easier to just charge
Tempest
Aaaand Jaal gives me his loyalty mission. It's funny that I'm going to do my own love interest's mission last...
Jaal's LM
I continue to be unimpressed with the Roekaar being pure antagonists. :/
Didn't shoot the guy, told Jaal he was badass.
Why are loyalty missions so short?
BTW Ryder just looks wrong in N7 armor... She's not Shepard, that's not her allegiance or her story.
Tempest
Jaal, just as we're leaving Havarl you decided to invite me for a visit down there?
Turian ark
Avitus has very stylish armor
For fuck's sake, Bioware, why do you hate gay men so much?
I convinced Avitus to take the mantle. It was a very sentimental decision for Ryder -- because her situation is very similar. Her SAM and the connection he had with her father are unique, but she didn't think of that in that moment.
Nexus
"Better to find your wings as you fly" Easy for you to say, Sarissa, your predecessor wasn't a loved one
Tempest
I'd agree with Peebee about relationship and baggage, but of course I felt obligated to take the romantic option
(I don’t think there’s an option to agree with her, though, so it’s only for the best)
Voeld
Liam, Vetra, don't fight!
Whoops, sorry for leaving you to die in the purification field, Vetra
...I liked the old color scheme better. Green light looks more alien, but less pretty.
Nexus
Final memory -- here we go!
My theory was that the Archon was somehow Ellen, but that made so little sense I didn't even write it down :D This is simpler.
BTW there's finally Shepard's gender we had to select in the beginning -- in translated subtitles :D Didn't hear it even once in the audio -- could it be Bioware actually took their foreign audience into consideration? :O
Honestly, it's weird that the Reapers info is so secret... From the OT I got the impression that Shepard was yelling about it to everyone at every opportunity...
Fine, fine, you made me emotional with Liara's message.
Shit, I was expecting this decision...
I feel pretty sad now. That's all?
Peebee's LM
Oh, so that's why she lives in an escape pod :D I thought this was only a characterization thing, not a Chekhov's gun!
I said I wasn't mad, though I was a bit. But I mean Ryder *is* mad but also having the time of her life so...
Shit I just shot Kalinda instinctively lmao
Ok I replayed the entire sequence and Idk. This is really the hardest choice in the game...
I'm tempted to say "Yes, literally" :D
Since it's so hard to reaload, it's fair game to watch videos before deciding for myself. Okay, "Yes, literally" is way too harsh.
Alright, this Ryder is not going to make Peebee sad, but I've already planned a Renegade-ish playthrough with a Ryder who values knowledge over everything, so... :D
(Btw, I love that MEA's brand of a more ruthless protagonist is not "uncontrollable brute" but "intellectual snob". As tedious as this game is, I'm already super eager to play character who has those values & takes urgency of tasks seriously.)
This mission is enjoyable and the choice feels maybe the most meaningful... But it has all the classic Mass Effect problems. Kalinda sends a shitload of people to murder us, we murder them, but when she's helpless and we have a finger on the trigger all of that suddenly doesn't matter. Sidonis all over again. Sure, murdering people begging for help is bad in a lot of ways, but she did just try to kill us, a lot of times... Plus, why the fuck can't Ryder jump over and catch the Remnant thing?! That needed to be a second, Paragon interrupt after the Renegade "shoot her." And Ryder is a goddamn biotic, as is Peebee, as is Kalinda! Peebee, Pull is your first goddamn skill! It'd actually be completely plausible if the artifact had shields and/or armor and therefore immune to Pull or Singularity -- but not giving the characters even an idea to try is just stupid!
Tempest
Inviting Peebee to live with together made me revisit my room and inspired me to make some changes. You know what, I'm going to play music in my quarters and change into the short-sleeved pajamas. It's my own ship, why do I walk around it in street clothes? The jacket is stylish but too much to wear at home. I wish we had a "formal" outift for Nexus/Aya/other hubs in addition to the "casual" clothes we wear on the ship.
Shit I went to read someone's post about Peebee's LM and caught a spoilers about the romance post-LM
Addison is right, getting pregnant in that situation was irresponsible
Ah the continuity in this game. "Found more outposts"? I have every possible outpost and all planets at 100%!
"On hold: Place an outpost" bitch where
Voeld
What, there's still a cold hazard?! What was the point of the vault, then?!
Whoa, so the angara believe exaltation not just kills their people but destroys their immortal souls? Wow! That should have been said by a major character during the main story, not by an easily missed NPC!
Oh great, I died and the game refuses to load the last autosave
Dear game. Why did you create four autosaves for the same second. All glitched. Half hour of gameplay lost... God please let the last manual save work. I was sure I saved in between, but just now my PC decided that we still have daylight savings clock change when we do not, and the timestamps on all recent saves are messed up. This especially sucks because I'm trying to rush Peebee's romance because I don't know when the sex scene comes up but I want to make sure it's not when my mom is home while I play it on her PC lol
Tempest
Fuck, that was cute! And Peebee did tackle Ryder, as promised! :D I wonder what she says through Zap in the platonic version...
Addison please don't say the baby screams "like a banshee". I fucking jumped.
"Before you say anything: no PDAs" :D
Level 50! Time to craft myself a powerful new Dhan. I've been running with rank three all this time...
I love that whenever you ask about Kalinda and then return to the general dialogue tree you say "Let's talk about something else" and Peebee responds "YES. Please."
Voeld
Alright, so: the kett leaders are dissatisfied with the Archon because he hasn't reported to them recently, the communication with the kett homeworld(?) might be disrupted in general and the Scourge might be to blame.
Tempest
Damn, SAM has a pretty insightful speech about death! The only thing that can't be rationalized after experiencing it, which is why it fascinates. I actually haven't heard it explained this way before.
My movie night quest hasn't progressed since I brought Jaal his device...
Eos
Ryder watching and playing football with two giant guns floating near her hips... omg
Elaaden/Kadara
What? I'm completely confused by all these identical salarians.
I don't understand this choice. He promises to give us the intel if we let him go... what proof do we have besides his word? And how would arresting him stop us from getting intel from his computer etc?
Reloaded to see both options, chose to arrest him
Havarl
I'm not hugging Jaal's mother wtf
Ryder has surprisingly good facial animation when Jaal shows his mementos
In theory Ryder should like Jaal for being such a nerd but the only thing he makes me feel is mild irritation. His interest in "taking things apart" is an informed quality just like his supposed emotional openness. It's not reflected in his dialogue or storyline at all.
And now I'm finished with all quests in the ally category. I wanted to finish the game asap, but now that we know the patch is coming on Thursday, I'll wait for it.
Multiplayer
Extracted from Silver for the first time as Human Vanguard (level 8, rank IV)! It was against Remnant, so Observers and Destroyers were the only problem. Nullifiers are ridiculously easy for a melee character -- like Ravagers, but without acid.
Got Krogan Vanguard from a pack. Will I have to tolerate the Rage overlay?
The first game with Kroguard was going well, he's got a stong melee even though he's slow... and then wave 6/upload/Kett killed us all :(
Completely unrelated to anything, but I just realized that if you pick the romantic option in the escape pod with Peebee, they don't actually have sex. Call me stupid because that's what Peebee's initial condition is, but I thought Ryder's response changed her mind! When Ryder said "Let's not rush things" I interpreted and meant it in the emotional sense, as "It'd be dishonest to hide that I have a crush on you, but you don't owe me anything, and if you don't ready for a Serious Relationship and Grand Romance yet that's fine because I'm not either, so let's just hook up and leave reflection for later" -- which I thought was pretty sweet and interesting? Because this whole relationship to me was built on the fascinating contrast between Peebee's emotional reservations and casual/flirty attitude, and conversely, on Ryder very consciously respecting Peebee's emotional space. Maybe I just fundamentally don't understand sex and romance lmao. But if character A propositions character B, character B says they have feelings for character A, and the scene promptly fades to black, I assume they do the do because that's how these things are filmed? Only in comparison with the other option, which is actually pretty explicit, it became obvious to me that's not what the director meant. I'm pretty disappointed because I thought it was a good subversion of Jack's "either sex or romance" thing in ME2. And it messes with my headcanon/characterization... I guess I'll have to retcon it into one of the two options. I'll probably go with casual, not romantic in that case. But I just read that Peebee will tell you she's glad you said no, so... :/
Multiplayer
Failed a Silver APEX mission agains the Remnant as a human vanguard :(
Got an asari sentinel!
The patch is here, but I can't launch the game now :( This needs some work.
Ugh, I stop playing for two days and have no motivation to pick the game up again...

Final Fantasy XV
Okay, so, I finished this game just a few minutes ago after playing it for a week straight and I have to say, I absolutely adore this game. Like, I’m putting it as my third favourite game of all time: The Evil Within, The Last Guardian then FFXV. Odd combo, I know, but, I’m a very picky gamer to say the least and I wasn’t even going to get this game. It just so happened to be on sale when I was in the shop on Sunday, so I went with it. Long story short, love the game. Long story long, under the cut because I don’t want to bother you with my ramblings. I just need to get everything I feel out there.
Also, there may be some spoilers, so, yeah. Just a warning here.
First of all, I haven’t played a Final Fantasy game since FF X-2 on the original PlayStation 2. So, it’s been a long time. I wasn’t too accustomed to the turn base battle system, but I wasn’t sure how the ‘open world’ ‘free’ fighting would turn out, but I have to say, I like it a lot more. Probably because I’m not a patient person, then again, I’m not the best at strategy and it takes me a long time to learn I can block attacks rather then charging straight in all the time. The only real gripe I have with this system, and really in general, would be the camera. It works well most times, but then there’s an occasional bush or tight corridor with a few enemies and that’s were the camera is flawed a bit.
Secondly, the story. i’ve heard others say the story wasn’t great, but I don’t know if it didn’t follow the typical FF storyline or just didn’t do it for some people in general, but for me, I got emotional and it takes a lot for that to happen. I thought the voice acting was pretty good, Japanese and English, though Ignis sort of threw me off at first with his English accent, but I quickly got used to it (he’s probably, or rather, is, my favourite chracter in the game. I bet if you know me enough, you can just see a picture of him and know why :P But it’s not just that, that makes him my fav. There are other, less selfish reasons xD) anyway, the story really had been invested hence why I played it for a week straight from dawn ‘til dusk then dawn again poor life choice, I know. It honestly had me teary-eyed at some parts and I was really concerned for these characters.
One part I remeber well was when Ignis ended up blind after the Altissia chapter and the coming arguments between Noct and Galdio then Ignis willing to be left behind during the talk in the mines - sigh -
Thirdly, I REALLY enjoyed these characters if that wasn’t obvious. They actually felt like they had a close connection to each other, like they were actually friends and held genuine care for one another. I honestly found that really nice. They worked off each other so well. All their conversations felt genuine. I could go on and on about it, really.
Fourth, I loved the open world part. I feel like I’m one of the few, but I really liked driving the Regalia around. I had fun customizing it and I didn’t mind having to stop for gas or having to get it repaired when it needed to be. I had a grand time just letting Ignis drive to wherever the quest was and I just set my controller down and admired the scenery. The graphics were gorgeous on those cutscenes, damn. Especially the big boss fights with Hydrean. That was really awesome to play through. I felt so powerful and then the cutscene after that happens and I’m dropped into a pit of feelings again.
Fifth, I really thought the A.I was amazing! I didn’t have any problems wit my partners at all. I wouldn’t say they were the best A.I partners ever, since they often stayed in the line of an attack rather then dodge *cough*though I did the same thing more often then not*cough*, but they never got stuck on anything and never glitched out which I was very happy about.
Sixth, the soundtrack was amazing! I could listen to it all day and I know it’ll help with my own writing a lot.
Now, with all that said, there was some gripes, other then the camera, I had. There were some glitches. Like my ‘X’ button to pick things up or interact would disappear some times and I had to reload by transporting back to the car or rest stop. I also had a hard time pressing ‘X’ to do things because I’d always end up jumping instead of what I wanted to do, but that’s probably my own personal gripe.
I also found some battles to be somewhat unfair but I won’t put this under ‘problems’ because, of course, it’s probably my own fault and was ill prepared.
Anyway, yeah. My thoughts on the game. It’s not perfect (what game is?) but I found everything good about this game really outweighed the bad and, to me, there wasn’t much bad to begin with.
Of course, this is just my own opinion. Wether your agree or disagree is completely fine but this really has become one of my all time favourite games and, if you did, thank you for taking the time to read this ramble.
Plus, the ending song: Stay With Me, hits hard. Really hard. I love it.

The Pistol Ultra - Race Recap
I recently toed the line to run my first ever ultramarathon.  For those of you who follow me on social media you probably know by now that I ultimately finished the race, too!  While the euphoria of running The Pistol is definitely not wearing off any time soon, I'm about to dive into training for my second marathon, so I wanted to get this race recap up and going before I get too deep into training.  This week's Sunday Runday post will be all about The Pistol Ultra Weekend - the best way I've ever rung in a New Year!
This entire weekend basically started off for me on Friday afternoon.  I hadn't run this race and actually had never been to the location of the race before, so I headed out to the "almost mandatory" pre race meeting to pick up my swag bag and bib.  Lazarus Lake, the founder of the Barkley Marathons, happened to be the keynote speaker of this mini expo and was doing a clinic while I was there, so it was pretty quiet when I was in to get my bib as you can imagine.  This race offers four distances - a 50K, 100K, 50-miler, and 100-miler.  When I was inside there were tons of people in line to pick up for the 50K and tons of people for the 100-miler.  I guess those are the most popular distances for this race!  I was through the line pretty quick and was ushered through by helpful volunteers to pick out all my race swag - a nice water bottle from Orange Mud, some Zen Evo chocolate, and two shirts - a cotton Tee and a hoodie!  While you're in line getting your freebies, you also get your chance to attempt to win the markmanship award - given to the runner who guesses their actual finish time as close as they can.  While I ended up doing pretty well (was off by about 4:29) the winner actually was only off by FOUR SECONDS!
So Saturday morning is race day! I was glad I went to the venue beforehand because the 50K parking is actually not in the same place as the rest of the event - it's further down the road.  Since we had to leave the house at 5:30 a.m. I was grateful we weren't trying to find parking in the dark!  Prerace they offered bagels and cream cheese with fruit for the runners, so I had a half bagel and a half banana while trying to calm my nerves.  I also chewed a good handful of dark chocolate espresso beans thanks to my boss, Vesna!  Just after the sun came up, Will, the race director, ushered runners outside for the national anthem.  The 50K runners got into the chute first to take off, while the 100K and 100-milers were paced behind us a few minutes.  Almost immediately, I could tell this race was going to be different.  While in the chute I socalized with many people who were doing an ultra for the first time.  Some of them stood casually, drinking coffee, saying their only goal was to finish.  With a 30-hour cut-off, this race is more than just walker friendly - it's nap friendly!  When the starting gun went off you could tell many people were just out to enjoy themselves and take it easy.  It was so much different than going to a race where there is elbowing and vying for space on the course!
Miles 1-10
I really enjoyed that this race started off by going downhill.  I took it easy at a gentle pace and the pack thinned out pretty quickly.  This race runs loops of approximately 10 miles on the Maryville-Alcoa Greenway system, so once we left Alcoa High School we headed down and ran the Greenway following Pistol Creek the whole way (you were probably wondering where that cool name came from, weren't you?).  About 4 miles in a photographer was grabbing photos of runners jumping.  My photo is ridiculous. I apparently really need to work on those jump skills next year!  About 5 miles in was the first time I passed the famous Woody's Aid Station, which is basically a trail magic stop on steroids.  We ran a little loop in downtown Maryville before making our way back past Woody's and back to Alcoa High School.  I was feeling surprisingly good and enjoying the rolling small hills on the Greenway.  I had planned to change my shoes at the 10-mile mark, but since I was feeling alright I called NoKey on my way back to the high school and told him just to meet me with The Stick so I could roll out my legs to keep them loose.  I knew I was running a little faster than I would have liked, but I was still feeling good and vowed to not take a break until the half marathon mark.  I gave him my gloves and Buff, refilled my Tailwind, and kept on running.
Miles 10-20
I knew I'd need to slow down through this second lap and that it would also be inevitable I'd slow down.  I gave myself the mental mile marker of 13.1 before I would take a walk break.  Now, one thing that I absolutely hate is walking during a race.  I knew with an ultra taking walk breaks were going to be something I just DID, but telling myself it was okay was another thing altogether!  When I hit the half marathon mark I took a walk break for a little under a half a mile.  Those teeny, tiny greenway hills were starting to feel a little bit bigger now anyway and conserving energy for a strong finish was my goal.  By the time I got running again I realized my stomach was ANGRY and wanted food!  When I got to Woody's again I gave myself the goal of running back to it before stopping again.  I grabbed myself a piece of homemade banana bread and a few homemade trail mix bars and ran while I ate.  This simple act got me lots of cheers from spectators and runners alike - telling me they liked my style.  I told them it wasn't my first time stuffing my face and running!  It's like I trained for this moment during most of my thru hikes! I intermittently stopped to walk every mile or so, power walking or slow jogging in between picking my pace back up.  By mile 19 I had called NoKey to come out and meet me with The Stick, some new socks, and new shoes.  The hill heading up to the high school seemed enormous now and many were speed walking the hills to conserve energy.  I plopped on the ground and changed my socks and shoes before rolling out my quads and taking off again.
Miles 20-30
For my final lap I didn't hear the "what the hell am I doing out here?!" voice I normally hear this late into a race.  I was oddly calm and at ease, almost like I knew I was going to finish and wasn't bothered at how slow I was moving.  One thing I did take advantage of on this lap were the benches!  I would stop at a bench to sit and stretch my IT bands or I would use it as a prop to do lunges without worrying about not being able to get back up.  Every mile or so I stretched quickly to keep my muscles happy.  On this lap the sun began to disappear and every once in a while it would sprinkle lightly.  Despite the cold and sprinkles, there were still lots of spectators out cheering and having fun.  It was definitely a morale booster!  By the time I hit mile 25 I was getting tired, but still didn't feel myself giving up hope.  Although, I did have the thought that if I were running a marathon I'd be almost finished by now!  I passed Woody's the final time and stocked back up on that delicious banana bread and trail mix bars.  A volunteer filled my water and Tailwind while another asked if I'd like something hot to drink since the wind had picked up and temperatures were dropping.  I passed on the hot drink and continued to stuff my face while running away.  While I was in the process of alternating slow jog/slow run I saw lots of other runners doing the same, people cheering us when we picked back up the pace and us doing it for others in return.  It was an amazingly supportive running community.  I called NoKey on my way up that hill (which now felt like a mountain) back to the high school before finishing my final mile.  Now I was suddenly feeling reenergized and ready to tackle that big finish!
Mile 30-31.5
After running the final out-and-back mile, I was super disappointed when I ran through the finisher's chute that they were having technical problems.  When you grab your bib at the expo they denote your first ever ultra and they told me the announcer would cheer you on at the finish.  Due to a glitch, they said I was some guy from Kingsport, TN.  I let out a loud cheer anyway and finished happily in 5:50:36.  (and that was with approximately 15 minutes of stopped time according to my Garmin!)  I was quickly ushered inside by a volunteer and, while I was waiting for my official results due to said glitch, another volunteer grabbed me a bottle of water.  Once the results finally printed out, I discovered I was 20th overall female and 52nd out of 201 runners.  Not bad considering my lack of actual training!  They ushered me off to get my medal, take my finisher photo, and then hand me my finisher visor and T-shirt.  I chugged chocolate milk and ate a banana before heading over to the Quest Therapy tent to have my quads stretched my the pros.  I was definitely thankful they were there helping us all out!
I was overall so happy with my experience at The Pistol and I would definitely recommend this race to any runner wanting to try their first attempt at ultra running!  I'll definitely be back next year and, provided I get the time to actually train, am even considering jumping up another level to a different distance.  If all of this wasn't enough to convince you to try an ultra, check out my review over on Bibrave.
What's the toughest thing you've ever attempted?  How did you feel when you finished?  Did it make you push the envelope to try more difficult things?

Early Beta?
I never really had much of a childhood, mainly because my parents were “slightly” overprotective. Which meant I had very little interaction with the more popular games, or even consoles. It wasn’t until I had reached the age of thirteen that my parents got with the times and trusted me enough to buy me a computer, and soon after a phone as well. I had only interacted with games like Lego Star Wars and Republic Commando at my friends’. Long story short, I had to move to Virginia when I was 13. Fortunately, I was able to fit right in with the local gamers and nerds at my new school. A couple of years later, at the end of my freshmen year, I grew tired of playing my limited collection of  Star Wars and Superhero based games. (My parents wouldn’t let me get games outside of those categories) So I talked to my friends, and we all decided to get GBA emulators for our phones and download the largest game series I had missed out on: Pokèmon. Of course, it took some time, but finally I was able to get my parents consent.
We all downloaded Fire Red first, because it was a remake of the original Red and Blue, and the originals were way too pixelated for my liking.  Anyways, we had to have a Pikachu, since it was such an iconic character. Also, having the ability to say we had a Pikachu would be pretty prestigious (even being weak as it was).
I did some research to find the best place to catch them. I found that at the end of Veridian Forest, right before you enter Pewter city, the last two tall grass sections have the highest Pikachu spawn rate. So I headed out to catch me a Pikachu. The timing couldn’t have been worse, though. I had a fainted Squirtle and a nearly fainted Weedle. I lost the battle just as I entered homeroom, and I was forced to turn my phone off. When I got back on after school, I soon realized that my game had been deleted, and couldn't access my last save. I thought it a little weird at first, but I did have the tendency to think I saved my game, when I really didn’t. Not to mention I shut off my phone in the middle of the game.
I restarted the game, this time choosing Charmander. Going back to the spot, I searched for at least twenty minutes before finally capturing a Pikachu. Now, it was time to begin the grind to level up my Pokemon so I could faceoff against Brock. I had Charmander, Pikachu, Pidgey, and a Weedle. It was during this time that my game began to undergo a glitching animation. You know how your screen flashes when you have a Poisoned Pokemon? I didn’t have one, but for some reason the screen kept flashing. I went to the Pewter City Pokemon Center just to be safe and after going in, I went to the P.C. where there is a Jigglypuff in the corner. It didn't look too happy, and it had dark red eyes instead of the light blue they normally had. I went up the man next to it to talk to him, hoping he would mention the irregular eye color.
“Oh, you're wondering about the Jigglypuff,” he said. A yes or no icon popped up. Out of curiosity I instantly chose Yes.
“He has a tendency to get a little riled up when they’re around,” he stated.
At the time i thought it was kind of odd, seeming as there was no one else around, but I just pressed on with my quest, happy that the screen finally stopped flashing.
Eventually my younger brother decided to get fire red for his phone as well, so I reset my game to play with him and chose Bulbasaur this time around.
“No more resets,” I promised myself.
Just like before there was the weird Jigglypuff. I sped through the gyms as fast as I could to get to Lavender Town. It was one of the most iconic towns in the game. The Jigglypuff from earlier made me want to know if anything else in the game would be affected, and Lavender Town seemed like a prime location for spooky changes. It took me a few days, because I couldn’t take more than a couple steps before running into a wild Pokemon. What made it extremely annoying, though, was that my brother and friends didn’t experience any problems. After finally getting past the bridge, I joined Team Rocket. What? I enjoy playing as an antagonist if I get the chance. After hitting the P.C. right before entering Mt. Moon, I talked to the various people. To my surprise the Magikarp seller had an extra set of dialogue. After buying the Magikarp, he said,
“This fellow was quite an easy catch, something has been upsetting the Pokemon making them more aggressive and prone to attack. This fella’ just jumped straight at me.”
At this point I went to the site I downloaded the ROM from and decided to do some investigating. While most hacks didn’t affect the game (to my knowledge) I felt it was best to make sure I didn’t get a ROM that was totally jacked up. Eventually, I drew the conclusion that when I accidentally reset my game by shutting off my phone, I corrupted some files and somehow caused the game to fill in the blanks spots with files from an earlier version of the game. Again, this was just a speculation, so I continued playing to see what else I could discover.
Finally, after an excruciatingly long time I finally got out of Mt. Moon and ventured into Lavender Town. At first glance It didn’t seem strange at all, in fact it almost seemed normal for a second or two. Then the screen began to shake, like it does when a Pokemon uses Rock Throw. I saw four Team Rocket grunts run out of the Pokemon tower with bags.
One said, “C’mon let's get out of here! We don’t need more Marowak’s coming after us. Let’s just take these skulls and go.”
What? Was there really a pokemon that could scare at least four Team Rocket grunts? And skulls, why skulls? After the grunts left the screen I saw it. A Pokemon towing what looked like an evolved version of itself. It dragged its companion to the middle of the town and began wailing, or at least that's what it sounded like. This “wailing” sound that came from the Pokemon was incredibly loud. I assumed the larger Pokemon had died, by the sound the smaller one was making. Then the villagers began to come out to see the commotion. They gathered around the Pokemon and stood there. Finally able to move, I walked up the large group as a dialogue box popped up.
“Oh the poor thing, it lost it’s mother”
“Those darn Team Rocket grunts!” This was followed by more boxes, all saying basically the same thing.
Of course I was now beginning to regret being a Rocket Agent. Not because it was wrong, but I didn’t feel like getting caught. I turned to leave but was quickly approached by one of the town elders.
“Hey you’re a new face. Are you with Team Rocket,” A yes/no option came up. After some consideration, I chose no.
“The word going around is a new Rocket Recruit was inducted recently. Are you positive you are not with them?”  A yes/no option came up again. I chose yes.
“Alright. But if we find you with them, we will make you wish you hadn’t messed with us, Mister!”
I took that as my ticket to leave, as well as talk to my brother about what was going on. Something was definitely wrong with the game, but then again this was an experience that only the game designers, and maybe a select few other people, knew about. So I figured, why stop?
After rushing to Saffron City, I was immediately surprised by all the Team Rocket grunts there. I went up to the guard standing in front of the Silph Co. He let me in, no questions asked. The thought of not having to fight grunts really eased my tension, however when talking to staff members they would all say strange, passive-aggressive quips, like:
“I hope they let us go. Oh wait; why am I talking to you? You’re one of them.”
“Will they ever leave- Oh, sorry. Will YOU ever leave?”
Slightly taken aback, I discontinued talking to them. It didn’t take me to long to find the right teleporters and defeat Gary. I took him out with ease and finally met Giovanni.
“Ahh, our newest recruit. A little young, but very powerful, and growing quickly too. Tell me, would you like to help me rule over all of the Pokemon?”
A yes/no icon popped up. I chose yes, because why not?
“Heh, you’re a true Team Rocket agent. You’ll do great.”
He gave me the silph scope to go to the Pokemon Tower. Apparently there was some ghost keeping some grunts from leaving with their hostage. Great, back to Lavender Town, where everyone already suspected my affiliations with Team Rocket.
I decided to avoid being seen by the townspeople as a precaution, and hoped get in and out of there as quickly as possible. This was made difficult only by the insane amount of ghost pokemon that kept attacking me inside the tower, unlike my friends, who went through with ease.
Then after finding Marowak’s ghost and taking it down, it gave me a strange reply.
“Marowak’s spirit was not calmed, it is angry that it’s murderers sent one of their own to deal with it. You cannot escape its wrath.”
It then faded into the overworld screen. I walked past the grunts as they ran by me and down the stairs. One stopped to thank me for dealing with the ghost. I continued on to find an old man, most likely the grunt’s hostage. Oddly, I was kind of worried to hear what he had to say.
“Heh, good job on angering that ghost. You will regret it! Oh, and don’t pretend you tried to save me, I heard those villains. Keep an eye out for that Marowak! Heh heh heh!”
Thinking I was an easy target in the tower, I bolted out of there, only to be cut off by most of the people in Lavender Town.
“We warned you not to lie to us. Now you will pay for lying about being a Team Rocket Agent.”
“Hold on a minute folks, let him go. He already has trouble chasing him.”
It was the old man, I had met in the tower.
“He angered the Marowak’s spirit and it’s out for revenge. That should be enough to deal with this kid.”
Honestly after what I just saw, I needed a break, so I took a couple days off. Yet, I couldn’t get that Marowak out of my head. Plus, with overprotective parents that wouldn’t let me do much it was kind of hard to get my mind on other things. I mean one plus is that I got what could be an earlier version of the game. But then again, I worked so hard to get the actual game. I mean, I could just reinstall it again. I decided against that, so I could see what the creators wanted to do with the game.
Soon after, I got right back into Fire Red. When I got back into the game everything was just like I had left it. The man had just told everyone that I was cursed and they were beginning to back off and let me pass. I was a bit worried, hearing that a Pokemon’s ghost was out to get me, but I kept at it and soon enough I was at Cinnabar island. Hesitantly, I approached the old Pokemon Mansion. It took a lot of guts for me to force myself in there, not only because it was probably loaded with Pokemon, but Marowak was potentially waiting for me. Thankfully and surprisingly it didn’t show up. I continued getting Pokemon and grinding to ready myself for the Elite Four. I had a Venusaur, Pidgeot, Pikachu (that knew Mega Kick and Mega Punch), Lapras, Mr. Mime, and Gengar.
To speed up the story, and because nothing of huge significance happened, I’ll skip to where things started acting up again. Right after beating Gary.
Oak did his usual rambling about Pokemon and being the best, when Giovanni burst through the door and strode right to me. Talking to Oak, he said,
“The number one Pokemon Master is also a Team Rocket agent! Our plan is almost complete to rule the world, just one last thing.”
Then a semi-transparent Marowak walked into the room.
“Of course, with that much power, you might overthrow me kiddo. So I’ll just take all your Pokemon.”
I checked for my Pokemon, and like he had said they were gone. I had a feeling I knew what would happen next.
“Now I think that Marowak has some unfinished business with you. Ha ha ha. Thanks for all your help, bub.”
A battle sequence started. The text “Marowak’s spirit is challenging You. What will you do?” appeared. I tried running. “You can’t escape Marowak’s spirit.”
“Oh well,” I thought to myself, “this is where it all ends.”
But then another text box popped up. It read, “Marowak senses good in you. She will give you a second chance, but she will always be watching you. Be careful!”
Now I know I should have seen that coming, but then again I wasn’t expecting to have some ghost stalk me. Could I possibly capture or lose it? First I could hardly see it, the ghost had a very faint outline and always moved away from me. And secondly it always followed me. Even when I tried to fly somewhere, it would be waiting for me at whatever location I was at.
Anyways I took a break from the game after that. Of course I didn’t want my parents to think I was getting addicted, giving them another reason to keep me from playing more games. But after that confrontation things got weird.
I’m not one to believe in haunted games or games affecting real life. I’ve read all those stories like Ben Drowned and what not. Plus those stories involved a “haunted” game not some glitch i was able to use to access some early version of the game. But anyways I began to catch glimpses of a faded creature following me. As usual it disappeared when I tried stopped to see it a little better.
I continued to carry on with and observe the game. As I played, I began to see more ghosts, or Marowak screwing with me. Not much time had passed before they became more visible. Then I began to realize, it was probably the ghosts that were riling up these Pokemon and scaring them. Anyways, I decided to go back to Pewter City, where I first began to notice these game changes. And, sure enough, there was a ghost standing near that Jigglypuff.
A couple of weeks later, I had finally gotten used to all the ghosts, and I had all the available legendary Pokemon. As I was strolling through some grass looking for trouble, I realized that Marowak began to walk towards me.
“It seems you have the strength to finally help me.”
Ok, I have to admit that at first I was confused. But soon, I began to realize what was happening. I continued on to see what Marowak wanted.
“I want revenge on Team Rocket. Don’t you, too? Treating us like mere conveniences to further their plans for domination. So will you help destroy this menace?”
I accepted, because honestly I was a little pissed at Giovanni for tossing me aside. So it wasn’t only Marowak getting revenge.
“It’s too dangerous to talk to you here, I’ll visit you in the real world.”
Now I was spooked, of course I shouldn’t have let that bother me. But it still did, now I know there have been games that break the fourth wall, but could this be one of kind of scenarios? In the following days I was too scared to sleep, even going as far as recording me sleeping during the night didn’t help me. I couldn’t concentrate in class and my grades began to slip, but I could care less at the moment, this game had taken a turn for the worst and affecting me. During this time I began to dig in the internet to see if I could find anything much more deeper than looking at some ROM sites, and skimming over google. I went to every search engine I could find. But all I could find were beta hacks and mods, and the occasional Roblox pokemon game.
The last thing I could think of was contacting Nintendo, but since ROMs aren't legal, I decided it was best not to risk getting in trouble.
So my diagnosis? I seriously screwed up my game. Finally, I gathered up the courage to open up Firered on my phone.
Once I entered the game Marowak spoke.
“You’ve been gone for some time now haven’t you? Two weeks and three days right?”
I sat there on my bed, staring at that dialogue, re-reading the line. Then I realized that some games pulled stunts like that, like those games in the early 2000’s. Everything happening in this game had been stunts pulled in later games.
I was suddenly not afraid and decided to play one, until my phone crashed.
After a couple of hours of work I was able to get my phone on and functioning without having to hard reset. Instantly I installed a virus and malware app to go through my phone to find anything.
At the end, Firered was clear, I went ahead and got rid of it anyways.
Anyways fast forward a year, that experience had been buried. And when Pokemon Go was released I slightly remembered when I had gotten Firered but didn’t dare want to bring back everything. After going through the tutorial I went into town to find some Pokemon, ironically the first Pokemon that I ran into was Marowak. It was slightly transparent, and when I went to capture that’s when everything came back.
“It has been a really long time since we’ve talked. A year, two months and ten days was it?”

How To Escape Vault 101 As A Baby
In the beginning of the game, your dad tells you to walk up to him, and when he does you wait for him to close the cage and then he will leave. When he leaves, open the cage door and go to the I’m special book and do whatever stats you want and then when you finish go in the toybox, look at the teddy bear pick it up by pushing the right analog stick down and then walk over to the vault door and place it down. Then save your game because this may take a while if you don’t already know about it. When your dad opens the door run out and close the door quickly and walk out the other door. Then swing around the corner and open the door that you see and walk through the glitched up area, and when you do so the alrms will blare and you need to go to the atrium and go through the door that won’t close and go to the overseers office. Then when you do this go to his bedroom and go through his dresser and find his office key. Then when you go in there, there is a locker to your right hand side. Open it take the password turn on the terminal and click open overseers tunnel. Then you can open the vault door and you can escape as a baby. You can’t use your pip-boy until you get to megaton. It also is harder to use your pip-boy because you can’t see anything. It goes through your arm and you can’t tell what your using unless you listen by sound. Other than that you can’t see anything. And you move slower.
Main Skills That You Need.
Speech, Lock pick, Barter. They are the main one I upgrade cause they are the main one that you use.
Get The Blackhawk .44 Magnum
First of all, you have to find agratha’s house. Once you talk to her, you get a quest “agratha’s song”. When you find valt 92 (directly west of old onely) go to the sound place. The violin is at the very back of that part of the vault. Anyways near were you find the violin, there is a bathroom. Search on the right side of every toilet seat and eventually you will see some music paper. Once you have both the violin and the music paper, bring them to agritha. Tell her that you found some music paper and she’ll say that see cannot let that go unrewarded and will give you the blackhawk magnum.
Get The Power Armor
Go to the citadel and do the waters of life mission.
Different Followers For Different Karma
If you have neutral karma I have figured out you can get bush in rivet city after setting him free from vault 101 you can also get a robot but I don’t know where heis I think he is in the robco factory if you are evil the only person I know youcan get is jericho (if you didn’t decide to blow up megaton) with good karma you can get fawkes a super mutant you can rescue from vault 87 ( he helps you get the G. E . C . K . So save him) when the enclave takes you and you escape he will be waiting outside raven rock with a Gatling laser if you don’t have good karma and you want fawkes donate money to the church of the atom in megaton and find him in the entrance to the underworld (he’s always there so comeback anytime).
Get A Follower For A Price
If you want someone to help you out with changing your karma, then go to the Ninth Circle in Underworld. Then go see the owner, Azurkal, (in a white suit behind the counter). He has his own bodyguard named Charon. You can buy his contract for 2, 000 caps, but if your barter skill is high enough, you can buy it for 1, 000 caps. Talk to Charon and he will go kill Azurkal. He has unlimited ammo in his shotgun and is a good shot. He heals himself and can carry stuff for you. Best of all, you can give him power armor and he will wear it and you don’t good nor bad karma for him to follow, you hold the contract.
Get The Ol’ Painless Hunting Rifle
To get the Ol’ Painless rifle, first you must go to the Republic of the Dave. It is located on the top right corner of the map. The settlement is very small, so killing everyone is easy. Dave is in the main building, kill him and everyone inside take his key and the safe contains his rifle. It does more damage and reloads quicker. WARNING: Ol’ Painless repairs with normals rifles so be careful.
Easy Mirelurk & Deathclaw Kills
Running into deathclaws and mirelurks can be a pain. But there are ways to easily kill them. One way is to get the dart gun. You can usually purchase one from a trade caravan. The dart gun will cripple both the legs. This prevents both the deathclaw and mirelurks from doing charge attacks and they run slower. From there, you can shoot them as they helplessly run towards you. If you don’t have the dart gun yet, the best way to kill a deathclaw is to jump on the nearest rock and keep shooting their legs until you cripple them. If you run into mirelurks and you don’t have the dart gun, your best option would be shoot there legs with a shotgun, or mines or throw a ton of grenades.
Get Bad Karma Easy
Who needs good karma? Bad karma gets you the caps. There are a ton of ways to get bad karma. Blow up Megaton, then kill everyone in Tenpenny Tower. If you want Brotherhood of Steel armor, just kill them. Capture slaves, then turn against the slavers. When I started out, I earned a lot of caps and got better weapons, just by getting bad karma.
Get Good Karma, For a Price
The easiest way I’ve gained good karma is simply going to Megaton, provided you haven’t blown it up. Go to “The Bomb” and talk to Confessor Cromwell, the guy ranting on about the “church of atom”. Ask him about his beliefs and eventually ask if he accepts donations. Make a large donation, or several small donations, and your karma gains every time.
How To Survive In The Wastes.
Now Life in the waste’s can be somewhat aggressive or difficult as some might say but doing this will ultimately make you a harder target. In order to gain this you must first have completed the mission part of where you meet up with the enclave army and the “President” of the United states. After you leave you will see hawks again which you meet in the vault to get the G. E . C . K . When you talk to him you can ask him to join you where ever you go. But you must have good karma or very good karma in order to gain his respect. If you have bad karma during the time. Just try to level up doing missions on the side or just going shoot crazy. When you get high enough levels for the required perk “Law Bringer” go and search for “evil” characters. such as raiders. Kill every one you can find and get their “fingers” when you get them go to your world map on your pitboy 3000 and search for Regulator HQ which is near the middle a little north and to the east of megaton. Go their and talk to their leader which just so happens to be a woman upstairs. You will gain good charma for each finger you collected. From very bad charma i suggest you get around 20 fingers. In addition you will also gain some caps for your troubles. Now when you get good karma or very good karma go to the museum of history but you must have completed the Galaxy news radio quest. Its near the museum of technology its directly next to the building where you repaired the radio signal. which is surrounded by a few brotherhood of steel members. Go inside and you will see hawks yet again. Talk to him and ask him to join you. He will accept and you will have backup during your travels if you happen to be in a “tough situation”. Hawks can carry extra equipment so if you find yourself heavier than usual. Just talk to him and you will be able to give him the stuff you don’t need or you find too heavy. Hawks does not require food or water or anything. He heals himself after about a minute of no combat. You can also tell him to stay somewhere if you don’t need him for that period of time. Also if he seems far away just go through a door and he will reappear (note: door must be into another area where you load) I assume he carries around 50 to 100 extra pounds of equipment. NOTE OF WARNING THOUGH: 3rd person view while Hawks is following you will suck and become annoying because the camera will bounce off of him causing it to be annoying. So most of the time being you will be in 1st person view.
Xuanlong Assault Rifle And Jiggs Loot Mini Quest
Xuanlong Assault Rifle: This powerful Chinese Assault Rifle is located on the body of Prime in the diner near the Jury Street Metro Station. This location can be discovered via the Museum of Technology mini quest, Jiggs’ Loot. Jiggs’ Loot: To start the Mini Quest, go to the Museum of Technology. (Beware of Super Mutants if this is your first visit! ) Access the first Museum Info. Terminal you see (on the bottom floor) and go to the very bottom option. You will see a note from Prime to Jiggs. Read it and exit out of the note. Go to the very bottom option (#001) and begin. Choose option #019 and you are done with the first of three codes. (NOTE: IF YOU MESS UP, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH THIS UNLESS YOU LOAD A SAVED GAME! ) Continue to the next computer in the West Wing of the Museum. It is located right when you walk through the door. You will see two terminals behind shields. The second terminal is the one you are looking for. Access it and active the bottom option, (#002). Choose option #053 and you are done with the second terminal. Go to the third and final terminal. It is located (when you run around from the 2nd terminal), through the first door on your right. Go through until you see the giant rocket. Hop straight over the railing until you hit the ground, and turn around. You will see the final terminal. Activate it and choose the last option (#003). The final code is #113. Choose it and you will be shown a new option called #Get Passcode. Choose this and you will be shown a note. Follow the directions on the note to get the small portion of the loot. Leave the Museum and go to Jury Street Metro Station. (Located directly West of Vault 101). Go into the diner on the opposite side of the street of the Station, and go behind the counter. You will find the body of Prime. So Sad! Search it and get your loot! (500 caps and misc. Items, including the Xuanlong Assault Rifle.
Smuggler’s End
Smugglers End: Once you gain access to the Brotherhood Citadel you can take, search or lock pick anything that you want. When you are in the Solar room you can lock pick the Elder Lyons safe. (100 lock pick required). You will find 300 caps, other misc. Items and Smugglers End, an augmented laser pistol. It does approximately 18 DAM with full Energy Weapons skill.
Get the Waser Wifle
After getting access to Little Lamplight, you’ll find a child named “Biwwy”, (Normally in the Great Chamber), who will sell you his Waser Wifle, an augmented Laser Rifle, for 500 caps. If you have the “Child at Heart” Perk, you can get it for free. The rifle can be repaired using regular Laser Rifles.
The Vengeance
The Vengeance: In the Deathclaw Sanctuary (northwest corner of the world map), follow the caves down and be prepared for many Deathclaw encounters. In the southeastern corner of the caves is a pool of blood under a column of rock. (Literally a POOL of blood). In this pool there is a heap of gore with the Vengeance, an overpowered Laser Gatling Gun.
Find the Alien Blaster
Head due north from the MDPL-13 Power Station and you’ll soon find a small mountain. On the east side of this mountain you’ll pick up a Recon Craft Theta radio signal. This will occur when you are just a bit north of an imaginary horizontal line through Greener Pastures Disposal Site to the far east. Search the east side of the slope for a destroyed house and you’ll soon come across the source of the signal just west of that: a downed flying saucer. (The ship is huge, so you can’t miss it! ) . Its pilot can be found below the open cockpit (beware the radiation!) Near the pilot is the Alien Blaster and a bunch of ammo rods. (These are easy to find at night. Alien cannot be searched! ) This powerful weapon gets critical hits frequently and is the bane of Behemoths. You’ll find ammo for it randomly throughout the wasteland if you’re lucky, so use the ammo you’ve got sparingly!
Prototype Medic Power Armor
The Prototype Medic Power Armor is in Old Olney in the far northeast corner of the world map. Since you’ll encounter many Deathclaws, you may want to set the difficulty to “Very Easy” before exploring this area. On the southern-most street of Old Olney is a manhole. Use it to access the sewers. As you make your way through the sewers, you’ll come across a dead Brotherhood of Steel Initiate on the ground. You can take the armor from the corpse. Here’s the kicker: it talks! Oh, and it auto-administers chems (Rad-X, RadAway, Med-X) when you are in need. NOT ALWAYS THOUGH!
Shoot ’em In The Head
To start the quest, you must go to the Museum of History and go to Underworld. (The Ghoul haven. ) Once you get there, go to the Ninth Circle or to Carol’s Place and find Mr. Crowley. He is a ghoul who wears a white business suit and has greenish spots on his head. Talk to him selecting all options until he tells you that ghoul haters deserve to die. Agree with him and tell him you’ll help. He will give you a sniper rifle and tell you to kill Allistair Tenpenny, Ted Strayer, Dukov and Dave. (From the Republic of Dave. ) First you should go to Allistair Tenpenny in Tenpenny’s Tower. (Southwest part of the map, should show after you’ve started the quest. ) When you get there, (after the ghoul Roy Philips is done talking into the intercom), talk to the intercom and tell the guard that you want to see Tenpenny. (There are other options too. ) As soon as you walk into the tower, go to the door (elevator) behind the receptionist desk. When you get up there, go to the left and you will see a guard. Tell him you want to talk to Tenpenny. (Or, you can steal the key, kill him, etc. ) When he lets you in, Tenpenny should be outside on the balcony. Talk to him about Mr. Crowley and shoot him in the head with the sniper rifle. (Nobody should come after when you do kill him, but you can save before just in case. ) Tenpenny does NOT have a key. (Dukov, Dave and Ted do. ) Now go trek to Dukov’s Place. Once inside, Dukov will offer you a drink. Ask him about Mr. Crowley. He will tell you he died and end the story. Tell him he is alive and he wants you to kill him. For the next part, there are 3 options: 1. Kill Dukov and take the key, 2. Pay him to get the key, or 3. Tell him to give you the key. (If speech is high enough. ) After you have the first key, go to the Republic of Dave. The Republic is at the high Northeast reaches of the map. Once there, get in and go to the Capitol building. Talk to Dave about Mr. Crowley. He will also tell you he died, and end the story. Again, tell him he is alive and wants you to kill him. Same with Dukov, there are the same 3 options. Once you have the key, go to Rivet City and find Ted Strayer. Most of the time, Ted is in the Commons Room or at the Muddy Rudder. Once you find him, talk to him about Mr. Crowley. This time it gets easier. If your Strength is high enough, you can just tell him to give you the key, you can persuade him to give you the key, or you can kill him and take the key. Once you have the 3 keys, go to Mr. Crowley in Underworld and give him the keys. (If you didn’t kill Dave, Dukov, and Ted, you have to use Speech to convince Crowley you did. ) Once he has all the keys, the mission will be complete. After you give Crowley the keys, you can follow him out of Underworld and kill him and take the keys back to start the Mini-Quest, “Fort Constantine”.
Fallout 3’s Best Armor
To get the game’s best armor (T-51b Power Armor), you must first have gotten all of the keys for the quest: “You Gotta Shoot Em’ In the Head”, and return to Mr. Crowley. Give him all of the keys, and follow him out of Underworld when he leaves. As soon as he leaves Underworld, you can kill him with no repercussions. But HE MUST HAVE LEFT UNDERWORLD. He can be inside the Museum of History though. Once you kill him, take his keys and head to the Northwestern part of the map at Fort Constantine. Go into the CO Quarters close to there, and go down the stairs to your left in the main room. (Note: if you look to the left before you go through the door in the safe, you will find the Big Guns Bobblehead.) When you go through the door, go through the Fort until you find a woman named Tara dead in front of a door. Search her and take her key. Go through the door she was lying next to, and open the next door, and you will see the Power Armor in a Stasis Field. Activate the terminal and shut off the field and take your armor. Also in the same room, there is a Fat Man on a table to the left of the Armor with a Mini Nuke and a magazine. (Most of the time it is the D. C . Journal of Internal Medicine. ) You still need Power Armor training before you can wear the armor however.
The Replicated Man (Both Rewards)
-SPOILER ALERT-After you figure out that Harkness is the android, talk to him and ask him if you can kill Dr. Zimmer, he will say you can, and Rivet City Security WILL NOT interfere. Harkness will give you his plasma rifle called, “A3-21’s Plasma Rifle”. Now you can go to Zimmer in Dr. Li’s lab. Talk to him before you kill him, and tell him that Harkness is the android. He will thank you and give you a perk: “Wired Reflexes” which makes you more accurate in V. A . T . S . When he walks away, you can kill him, and Armitige. Note: telling Zimmer about Harkness gives you Bad Karma. Also, if you search both the bodies of Zimmer and his bodyguard, you will find that they are both androids.
Ghoul Mask
To get a ghoul mask, first go to Tenpenny tower. There will be a ghoul named Roy Phillips arguing through the intercom. Talk to him and agree to help him. You can either kill every single person there, or convince everyone to let ghouls live with them. After you help Roy Phillips, he will give you a ghoul mask and you will have a Tenpenny suite.
Blow Up Megaton
To blow up Megaton, you must first go to Moriarty’s Saloon. Then, when you enter, there will be an area to the right. A guy in a white business suit will be sitting down. Talk to him and he will give you a pulse charge to put on the bomb. Then go to Tenpenny tower and get all the way to the top. Mister Burke will be waiting. Push the detonator and watch the explosion and then you will have 500 caps.

MEA liveblog part 2
Spoilers!
Havarl
So, the planets with Remnant technology are the planned Habitats? If so, why didn't anyone comment on that? That we're following the Remnant map but finding our "golden worlds"? Wait, Havarl wasn't even on the map -- Jaal pointed us to it.
Come on, even aliens in another galaxy are misogynists?
Why are the memory prompts scattered all over the cluster? What are they?
I really don't like the amount of cover and a giant-ass turret.
God, the Vault is just breathtaking! I'm glad the low settings don't get in the way (unlike faces)
Died several times trying to fight all these Remnant... Turns out I just had to survive long enough to use a console. I should pay more attention to quest markers...
Aaaand the viability jumps to 73! Nice.
Can't access the chest. I guess I should have killed all the Remnant in the room to lift the forcefield?
Whoa! I can feel the fresh air.
"This curious memory transfer--" "Reincarnation" Um. Ummm. This sounds terribly familiar to our heroine's personal story... Memory transfer you say?
Hmm, I should visit the monks to see a new view from above. I'm lazy though... Oh look, I can just climb high on this roof instead!
Not only the sky, but the entire map is clear! Incredible. Now I can go back to the Tempest with clear conscience, too.
Tempest
So I assume if you went to Voeld first, the lady would be on Havarl? Why do we need her to access the vault, btw, I forgot?
So, one of the "golden worlds" was inhabited -- a home planet, no less! Why is Aya's vault "special" but Havarl's just a means to an end? Why didn't people try to set course to Havarl before, since it was one of the planned destinations?
"At a price?" What? The Roekaar (or whatever they're spelled) hated Ryder way before she earned the resistance leader's trust.
I'm not sure I've mentioned this before, but we did have to fight and kill natives to one of the planets we'd planned to colonize... And since turns out Jaal knows their leader, that means we're going to change their minds because of course who could oppose us once they knew us, we're the best.
Yes, I'm going to be sympathetic to him, and yes "I want peace" instead of "They need to be stopped"
With Peebee, there's a heart option just called "Flirting" which I assumed was a glitched duplicate of a previous heart option just called "Flirting". It's not. But it's just as awkward.
Aw, Vetra and Drack talking about younger family members...
Saved and tried to flirt with Suvi just to hear the dialogue. But you know, I kinda want to keep that awkward "wanna talk about science"...
Oh right, I still need to do "Lost sister"... But I'm pretty tired of Havarl. And Jaal's quest will weigh me down... Let's pretend I'm halfway towards Aya now.
I'm gonna go check Eos before continuing the main quest.
Eos
Bradley has surprisingly emotional dialogue about all our loved ones back home being dead for 600 years.
Oh, and he advised me to be compassionate of the "pirates" because they're going through the same thing? Wow.
It's lucky I went to check Cora's LM first! Because the initial conversation sent me straight to Voeld. All roads lead to it! Main plot, Peebee's mission, Cora's mission. Good, let's go.
Btw, remember how I praised the lack of urgency that let me explore in peace? Well this mission kind of ruined it. This is a rescue operation! I felt guilty for sidetracking.
Voeld
And Voeld is Habitat-6. Of course.
Oh thank god there's a heater, I thought I was doing something wrong.
She's praising Efra so much... Is he going to become a bad guy?
Wait, so when I was talking to the Resistance for the past 30 minutes it wasn't a part of the main story? Who do I need then?
Oh, here they are, very unnoticeable, before the entrance.
The Kett base has weirdly nice weather! Not that I'm asking for an environmental hazard during a priority mission...
"Killing your allies is a lousy plan" Hmm, I heard there'll be a hard choice soon, I guess this is it. And since this is a priority mission, I won't be able to save right before it...
"Stasis pod school" Well yeah, haven't you heard of indoctrination?
"Chosen for what, exactly" To become kett, oh my god, haven't you played the original trilogy Drack
Oh look, 25+ hours into the game we see a dramatic reveal of what was immediately obvious from the publicity pictures of kett and angara. Like I mean even if we didn't have the OT where this happened to literally every species starting with the protheans, the faces are a dead giveaway. And of course Ryder has to play dumb and can't figure it out
Oh, she's surprised! Seriously, has no angara ever looked kett in the face and thought "hey, they look familiar"?
And Jaal's shocked too. For fuck's sake, writers.
Is the Moshae that woman we've seen in the trailer, standing with Ryder in a vault? She'll survive whatever I do, then.
Did this thing just sync-kill me
How many times can you recast your stupid orb, this is just boring
I'm glad cover can protect me from this Nova/Dark Spere :D
Well this was one of the hardest boss battles of my life. And I can't save afterwards. Guess I'll have to live with whatever decision I'm about to make.
Wait, he isn't dead! Ascendant surprise!
Oh, that's a she. Ok.
(She's beautiful btw. Looks more turian than angaran, actually.)
Well, that was an easy Paragon decision. They never backfire anyway. I took the interrupt though.
Just as someone said "We're ready for extraction," a fiend grabbed and sync-killed me. Of course...
BTW it's dumb that the game invites you to hold the platform in the end. It's an extraction wave! Why camp in the LZ?!
Oh dear, am I happy to finally save!
That last left dialogue option was dumb. "My people have travelled so far" -- well nobody forced them to! Moshae was right to chastise Ryder after that. And of course, without saves, I can't go back and redo it.
Tempest
So, the kett are like Borg, too.
The angara are open and free with their feelings? They act exactly the same as all other species we've seen!
Okay, I don't care about Jaal's feelings about the plot that's so badly written, but it gave Ryder the opportunity to say something touching about her own family.
Hmm, do I click the "friend" option or not? I don't give a shit about him personally, but...
Okay, I clicked... Abort abort abort! It's basically a flirt option. Dammit, mark your shit correctly!!
And finally, the lack of quick saves creates a real problem... Good luck finding the save I need and redoing this conversation. I tried but it didn't restart.
Vetra: "I cannot help thinking that asari reproduction and kett exaltation are similar in a lot of ways" IS SHE IN THE GAME JUST TO VOICE ALL MY OBSERVATIONS??
Restarting again, the first left-handed option is weird. "I may seem tough, but I have a good shoulder". Tough? This peaceloving kiddo??
Yaaay, I redid it. When talking about family, left options, everything else -- right. That's my way of talking in general. Casual options are dumb and/or rude, emotional options are unbearably sappy.
Why is "I like it when you flirt" still not greyed out???
I hate to be militaristic, but the AVP/cryo capsule bonuses for military are the most useful...
Kallo, Suvi... I've visited Prodromos like three times already... I know that the radiation levels are better and there's more to explore... Why does the game not track these things?!
So um... are the Nomad mods installed automatically?
My mom studied biotics? AI scientist father, biotic scientist mother -- no wonder I'm a nerdy Sentinel!
"I won't run out on you", say I to Vetra even though she's only my second choice after Peebee
Nah, you know what, I'm not going to talk to her until I decide if I want Peebee or not. Don't want to lead Vetra on, it's cruel.
The conversation with Cora sounds like it takes place at least a week after that mission. Come on, writers, you know that players interested in the story talk to everyone right after major events!
Oh, I need to have an opinion about dad. This is stressful.
That second flirt option in the armor is -- well, "Did I say put your shirt on" doesn't sound good, especially considering I'm his boss...
Wait, so what did Liam requisition?
Btw of course this scene is where mom walked in the room lmao
Me: “I don’t think my Ryder is attracted to men at all, she only flirted with a man once and it was pretty platonic” Liam: *takes shirt off* Me: “Okay, fine, she likes men a little bit”
And I can only imagine how bitter mlm players are about this scene...
Voeld
Died twice and now stuck on loading again. Screw this, I'm going to multiplayer
