saw a post about how adhd brain makes you put off tasks that will take time & the example the poster made was putting off ordering something bc it would take about a week to arrive but if theyâd ordered it when they started thinking about it a week ago it wouldâve arrived by now. and reading the post forced me to go look into ordering something ive been meaning to order for weeks so i was going to reblog the post all smug when i was done but of course opening the extra tabs on top of the one billion tabs i have open for things i want to look at later or remember in the future was the straw that broke the camels back and my computer crashed. so you win some you lose some
[ Been very interested by Harvey Dent recently, so I wanted to write some scenes that may turn into a full story thatâs essentially an exploration of him and his relationships to Big Bad Harv/Two-Face, and to Judge, and himself, but is also a kind of typical action adventure. Anyway I have an outline building itself in my head but hereâs a few scenes I wrote somewhere in the middle if you want to read some character exploration for them and a fight and some angst fluff hurt-comfort because thatâs like half of what I write/enjoy writing letâs be real. Basic story/scenario setup is a new villain is attacking Gotham, has expansive mental superpowers. A number of people team up to fight back since itâs a universal threat to them. During a fight, big bad transports Batman, Catwoman, and Two-Face to a mind plane to have a home-turf advantage. But up there, Harvey is everyone in there in their own body, so he ends up with an unexpected numbers advantage that keeps him alive during the initial attack. Batman, Catwoman, and the Harvey group get separated from each other after the initial fight, and are trying to find the big bad and deal with it, get out, and stay alive (and probably finding each other again would be advantageous). So yeah, this is a little bit after the first fight and getting wildly lost in the mind plane.]

This place was a little plateau, some trees and grass, a kind of mental jungle almost, minus the expected mugginess, with a chasm and some rushing water far, far below not far ahead of them now. Harvey could see more traversable flat land past the precipice ahead, if there was anywhere to cross.
He wasnât sure where they were going, and he was sure Harv didnât either, or Judge, but onward wasâŚbetter than anything else.
I donât see a way forward from here, though, he thought, glancing to the left and right as he followed Two-Face quickly toward the edge of the plateau. It wasnât a wide chasm, at least. They might be able to knock down a tree and cross. Or something. I guess we could also circle back.
âWait.â
Harvey stopped and turned, and a few paces ahead and much more irritated, so did Two-Face.
âThis is a rare opportunity,â came the voice always so confusingly clear for the vocal chords he had in reality. Even here, where it made sense to hear, and he looked like his old self and had been given his own old vocal chords back again, he couldnât even really get used to the sound of hearing himself out loud.
Clearly very exasperated by this detour, Two-Face turned around completely. âFor what? If you hadnât noticed, weâre not exactly walking around without a time limit.â
âFor separation,â said Judge collectedly, drawing his sword so calmly, and leveling the massive thing at them.
No. Not at me, realized Harvey on a stunted delay. He was just standing between them. At Harvâa-at. âŚTwo-Face.
Dazed almost, still somehow not quite getting what should have surely been obvious, he looked behind him at Two-Face, then back at Judge.
Two-Face took a step back. âAre you kidding me?â he asked with anger and disbelief, âWe donât event know what would happen! If one of the others dies here, theyâre dead out there too! For all we know, any ONE of us three bites it, and we all drop dead!â
âA calculated risk I am willing to take,â replied Judge, unmoved.
âYeah, big surprise, coming from you,â shot back Two-Face, clenching his fists, âKilling all three of us has never been a problem for you!â
âWe appear here as unique individuals,â commented Judge, âI do not feel pain when you are injured. You did not become injured when Harvey was cut. To the best conclusion of reasonable logic, we are each only a representation of and container for ourself. Therefore, it stands to reason that if we are each a segment of Harvey Dentâs mind, separated completely for the first time, a segment being lost would reflect, in reality, only a loss of that segment, forever. Not a death of the whole.â
Livid, Two-Face extended his arms and started making sweeping gestures as he spoke. âAnd you have no idea what a huge fucking chunk of brain death might MEAN for the whole!â
âNo,â agreed Judge, sword still leveled, âBut it is a risk I am willing to take.â
âSo, what, youâre going to kill me?â snapped Two-Face in disbelief, âWeâre stuck in here fighting for our life already, and youâd risk all three of us to get rid of me permanently? What gives you the right-!â
Judge turned his attention to Harvey. â-With two of us, it would be quite efficient and easy a task.â
Two-Face stopped.
âThis will likely be an opportunity you are never given again,â continued Judge calmly to Harvey.
âYou canât be serious,â said Two-Face, but his voice was different this time.
Harvey wasnât looking at him. He was still staring at Judge.
Opportunity? It echoed in his head. He had wanted this for so, so long. All he had wanted for years was to be free of Harv again, forever. To be himself. Again. Free. To try. ToâŚ
He turned to look at Two-Face, time feeling stilted around him.
âNo,â said Two-Face like he couldnât process it either, taking another step back, âIt could kill you.â
âWe are fighting either way,â said Judge calmly, sword still perfectly leveled, as if the insanely oversized thing weighed nothing to him, âWe are not both walking away from this space. If he is doomed to a risk either way, there are no questions left to be asked.â
âHell there arenât!â shouted Two-Face, something in him snapping, âIâm a much bigger part of him than you are, and I always have been!â
Judge was silent. Immovable. So massive. Why was he so big? Here, he and Big Bad Harv were identical except his lack of the acid scars. Judge was two or three times the size of either one of them, floating there in robes like a concept, not a person. Maybe thatâs what heâs meant to be, thought Harvey with a sickened feeling in his stomach. Had he always been so big? Had they always been so much smaller?
I think Iâm afraid of you, thought Harvey. A stupid thing to think. He was. He always had been. WhyâŚwas it crippling him now?
Maybe, for a moment back there when theyâd all three been fighting side-by-side, it was because heâd feltâŚpowerful, and safe. Untouchable, between the two of them. Strange. That wasnât a way he could remember ever having felt at all with them before. Of course it wouldnât last more than a second. Of course itâŚcouldnâtâŚ
Getting no response from Judge, Two-Face turned to Harvey. âYou know this is insane. Weâre not even out of here yet! Who can you count on?â
âYou know what must be done. You have always known,â said Judge coolly, continuing to ignore Two-Face, âI exist because of your hatred of him.â
âYou exist because of his hatred of US!â snapped Two-Face. Turning away from Judge, he took a few steps towards Harvey, trying to appeal. âFighting each other here at all-â
ââThis is simple.â
Judge moved with the words. Harvey hadnât been looking at him, and by the time he was, the figure was so much closer, like it had apparated. How fast could he move? God, he was so big.
Two-Face hesitated and looked at Harvey again, then uneasily took a step back. Agitated, his hand went for the gun slung over his shoulder and rested there.
âYou wanted a life without him,â said Judge, looming over them for all the world like a god of this little cosmos, âDesperately, more than anything. You wanted to be like me, and failed. You let him ruin you. He took your life and plunged it into crime and sin and evil so deeply you have been lost out there forever. For all your feeble struggling, you have let this thing BECOME you. It snuffed you out when you were weak, and has walked too long in your shoes, destroying every part of who you used to be. You have fought for years to take your life back from this monster. Aid in killing him now, and take it.â
âIâm not a monster; I do what has to be done!â shouted Two-Face, snatching his gun and gesturing wildly, fingers so tight around the grip even through the scar tissue Harvey could see them turning white, âFor justice, for chance, for fucking making it from one breath to the next! Iâm the one willing to do what you two canât, so you donât have to! Iâm the ONLY one in here who has EVER looked out for another part of us! I protect him! You never have! Even when we were kids! You blamed us! I protected us! I took it, I fought back, I was everything wrong about us we were blamed for, so he didnât have to be!â He whirled on Harvey. âYou think youâll be safe with him? Heâll kill you too! Heâs been ready to cut you down for the crime of existing since you were six years old!â
No, thought Harvey, Iâve been failing my whole life, but I could be better. I could be free of you.
He turned towards Two-Face and took a step back, hand slowly going to rest against the little letter opener blade in his pocket.
Two-Faceâs expression fell.
It surprised Harvey that it would beâŚunexpected.
Two-Face looked from Harvey, to Judge, and the momentary hurt burst into anger.
âYouâre both idiots! You want to try?! Fine!â
The Tommygun flashed, and Harvey dove to the left before realizing the shot had been aimed very wide of him, at Judge. On his right, the massive black-clad, faceless figure swiped its sword up and the bullets clattered aside, off the blade in a flash. It was impossible. But everything here was.
And then HarvâTwo-Faceâwas dashing at him, and he had to snap into the moment, ducking under a swing at his head with the body of the gun, and trying to go for a knife swipe of his own to Harvâs side.
Harv kicked him away, knocking him far enough back that the swipe only ate air, and almost took Judgeâs sword between his shoulder blades, barely sensing it at the last moment, and throwing himself prone and rolling.
Harvey was back up first, about five feet from HâTwo-Face, whose back was to him. He was scrambling back from Judge on his elbows, one hand digging into his jacket and producing a grenade.
It went flying at Judge before Harvey could reach him to try to stop it, and he slammed into a surprised Two-Face and they rolled, grappling on the grass at the edge of the area, as they heard the explosion from the bomb behind them. Worried, Harvey looked to see if Judge was still up, and saw him standing, unmoved, only the sword singed with soot, in a cloud of smoke. The imposing figure turned its head toward them.
A fist rammed into the side of his face, and Harvey went back down, struggling for a hold on Two-Faceâs hand to keep the gun back as they landed side-by-side in the grass now, and the almost twin figure opposite him tried to rip the knife out of his own. He took a knee to the gut, hard, and answered with an elbow to the side of Two-Faceâs head, and they struggled and slipped and rolled again, a mad tangle of knees and arms and cheap shots; a forehead slammed against his nose; his fist ripped at acid bleached white hair, and suddenly they were slipping for realâfastâtoo fast, too far.
In their struggle, theyâd been getting dangerously close to the chasm and the tiny river far below, and the last grapple had landed them a little too dangerously close this time. Theyâd hit the edge of the slope to the fall.
They went from sliding to falling in an instant, and Harvey shot a hand out for the roots of a tree as he skidded past, and and it ripped free in his hand and came with him. Harv got a foot wedged between a slightly bigger tree trunk, and an arm around another almost as fast, a half second before Harveyâs momentum slammed him into Harv, stopping them both, breathing hard, about three feet from the edge.
Fight forgotten to the near death experience, they looked as one at the monumental fall. Even here, with the way injuries and healing seemed a concept instead of a medical reality, it would have to be a grim and certain death hitting ground below. Even the water must be like concrete.
âAaahg!â The shout from Two-Face startled him, and he looked just in time to be grabbed by the collar and flung bodily back onto the plateau.
The impact knocked the breath out of him, and he had barely had time to understand where he was before Harv had scrambled up and thrown himself back on top of him, raising the gun butt to bring down on his head, and Harvey barely got his hands up in time to try to keep it back.
There was a sudden sound like wind whipping around a building, and Two-Faceâs face paled and he hurled himself bodily backwards, narrowly avoiding Judgeâs massive sword.
He rolled back and up to a knee, gun out, and fired. Bullets sprayed into the grass and up along Judge, somehow cutting through fabric and air along the edge of his form, like there was no one inside, and the sword swept upwards, deflecting bullets from Judgeâs head and chest.
Snatching the opportunity, Harvey drew his own pistol on Two-Face. It should have been an easy shot; he was distracted by Judge, almost unmoving, close. But Harvey missed completely just the same, and the man whipped around furiously and returned fire.
Adrenaline pumping at jet fuel levels, Harvey dove to the side of the tommygunâs spray of bullets and made it to a knee in time to see Two-Face back up on his feet, ignoring him again in favor of running at Judgeâducking under a swipe from the massive sword, and getting two shots in past it at Judgeâs torso, that connected this time. The sword came back fast, with an angry sound from Judge, and Two-Face leapt over it, falling back a step unsteadily as the sword came again, too fast, slicing him across the chest as he tried to move too late, and back at him again with a massive two hands swipe from above, and it was all he could do to get the tommygun up and between them to catch the sword and hold it back as he struggled against Judgeâs strength.
Somehow, he wasnât scared. Harvey could see it on his face. It was crazy, but he wasnât afraid of Judge at all. He was angry. It seemed impossible to him, but he supposed for Big Bad Harv, it must not be.
Remembering to move then, Harvey made it up too, not much worse for the wear, and haltingly took another shot at Two-Face, grazing him in the arm this time as he saw the shot coming and tried to break the grapple and jerk out of the way, making it just an instant too slow. Judge immediately made another pass with the sword, trying to catch him off balance, and Two-Face ducked narrowly under it, returning fire as he did with his gun. Judge fell back to parry shots what looked like effortlessly, and Harvey made a mad dash for Two-Face while his focus was off him again, knife in his right hand, gun in his left, making a swipe for Two-Face as he got in close.
Two-Face saw him coming and stepped back out of the way of the swipe, and then another, trying to keep most of his attention on Judge. He dodged a third swipe from the letter opener, and got the tommygun leveled at the towering figure of Judge, but Harvey shot the barrel, knocking the aim off and sending a spray of bullets into the trees.
Furious, Two-Face swung the gun over and took a shot at him finally, and Harvey swung left just in time, feeling bullets pass by in the air.
Out of his peripheral, he saw Judge close in again with the sword, and Two-Face jumped back to avoid a swipe and twisted past another, returning fire, and Harvey dashed to the side, trying to get behind him.
Two-Face saw the move, and turned his head to look for just a second, and caught the sword in his arm for it, cursing and turning his back on Harvey to chuck a grenade at Judge, face lit with anger and disbelief as the huge figure knocked the grenade aside effortlessly, and it exploded off behind him, out of range. He opened fire with the tommygun again, trying to get back a little room, and Harvey made a mad dash for him from behind.
Two-Face saw it coming, and caught him in the chest with the butt of the gun, ducking under a swipe from Harveyâs knife, and to the side of a second swipe, then leaping off to the left to avoid one from Judge, firing back as he did, and Harvey caught an opening just as he pulled the trigger and slammed into him at the waist, sending them both down hard, Harvey on top, and he slammed the barrel of his pistol down against Two-Faceâs forehead as they hit the ground.
The impact hurt. He saw Two-Faceâs hands freeze halfway through a fumbling attempt to turn the tommygun on him, and his eyes met Harveyâs, wide with fear like a hunted animal, and with anger, and hurt, and Harvey knew he was supposed to pull the trigger, but he didnât.
He felt sick and wrong suddenly.
None of this was supposed toâheâ
Judgeâs sword came carving through his back, and through him, down into Harv, and he heard Harv scream.
âNo!â Faint, in a voice that wasnât his.
He was just looking. Down, limply, at the massive thing through his body.
He went up then, lifted, Harv pinned on the tip of the sword above him, gripping the blade with both hands to try to keep from sliding deeper into it. Harv was looking at him. The way someone looked at an oncoming car hitting someone else.
ShoutedâŚsomething. As Judge raised them both heavenward. And then there was an awful force applied, and they were flung off the blade, to the chasm.
He knew he was skidding, falling, but he couldnât move, or think, or feel. React.
Everything was cold, and far away.
He vaguely registered Two-Face hitting the slope ahead of him, slamming against a tree just before the edge, dazed for a second on impact. Harveyâs limp body wasnât so lucky. It hit the ground past him and rolled down the slope towards the drop.
Seeing him go, Two-Face let out a shout and scrambled after him, fingers catching a sleeve just as Harvey hit the edge and went over. Harv threw himself after, dragging the limp form to him in midair and wrapping himself around it as they took the free fall towards the water below.

Pain. Aching, seeping, deep. It coursed along him in sheets. He wasâŚc-cold too. Wet. Confused. What-?
Struggling, Harvey opened his eyes, blinking weakly in a failed attempt to focus. Everything was blurred and unsteady.
Trees. Rock. He could hearâŚrushing water. On his back?âŚs-somewhereâŚit allâ
Trying to move sent ripples of pain along his gut, and he remembered the sword.
Sh-shit.
He couldnâtâŚsee. Anything but blurry red, looking down at his chest. He couldnât. Couldnât move.
I-Iâm dyingâŚ?
Moving. Something wasâŚ
There. Above h-him, on the left. Something was standâHarv. H-He was. Was standing just a few feet to the side, with his back to Harvey, looking for something.
Hand trembling, Harvey dug in with all his might and tried to raise it towards him. Tried to say his name.
He didnât think any sound had come out, but Big Bad Harv turned, eyebrow raised, and glanced down at him.
âH-Help,â he managed, voice a cracked whisper.
âOh?â asked Big Bad Harv, rasping voice steeped in superiority and anger, âYou think Iâm going to help you? After you wanted to kill me?â
His strength gave out, and Harvey couldnât keep the hand up anymore. He let it fall against his chest and slide back limply to the ground, body shuddering under the stress of trying, and enduring this much damage and pain. He couldnâtâŚkeep his. e-eyes open⌠it was..
âAll right, all right. Jesus. Just try not to die so fast,â said Big Bad Harv in the voice of someone who had been planning to kick someone around more, wildly diverting plans in the face of a sudden crisis. He moved quickly beside him and knelt down, and Harvey couldnât get his eyes open anymore at all.
He heard movement, felt hands, heard fabric rip, and muttering words he couldnât make out, maybeâŚmaybe his name a few times? And then he was gone again.

When he came to again, Harvey had forgotten where he was. Where he had been. It all came back slow, as his blurry eyes made out the same forms of trees and rock above him, felt the cold of wet clothes, and registered the sound of moving water. It, and the twenty-four hours before it.
It was hard to think. He felt feverish, and half awake, even as he remembered. It was so cold, and he felt sick, but too weak to vomit. I wonder if Iâm still dyingâŚ
It seemed likely.
He struggled to blink and focus more. Find some change in the light to guess at how much time had passed at least, but he was too weak, and it was too much to do.
âFinally,â came a rasping voice he knew.
It took him a second to find Big Bad Harv, because he was kneeling almost behind him. âAlmost thought you werenât going to wake up this time.â
Weakly, body shuddering from the cold and the effort, Harvey turned his head, trying to get a look at him.
âAm I dying?â managed Harvey.
Big Bad Harv shrugged. âThe bleeding stopped, but he got you pretty good. Which I told you heâd do.â
Harvey tried to look down at his torso. Flat on his back, that wasnât easy, but he could faintly see stained cloth wrapped around what had been a massive smear of red last time his eyes were open. Recognizing the jacket, he turned his head back towards Big Bad Harv and registered his jacket was gone.
He swallowed, and it hurt. It hurt to breathe, and he coughed weakly on impulse, and the feeling it shot along his torso was agonizing.
âEasy,â reprimanded Harv, putting a hand on his shoulder to try and stop the involuntary spasms the cough had set off, âYouâll die and leave me with Judge.â
It took a second for the convulsions to settle down, and it had zapped so much energy from Harvey by the time they had, it was all he could do to turn his head again and look up. âIâm sorry,â he managed, almost pleadingly. His voice was the ghost of a voice.
âGood. You should be,â snapped Harv, âCanât believe youâd rather be stuck with that thing, than me.â
Harvey coughed again, a bad, wet sound deep in his lungs, so deep it sent shudders along his limbs, and he could feel the pain in his ribs from it. He couldnât stop coughing for several seconds, and when it finally ended, he tried to gasp out a breath, and it was hard. He kept fighting to fill his lungs, and failing, like a fish on a bank. They felt like they weighed too much to move. It started to panic him, and he gasped faster, coughing again, then he felt hands on his shoulders, and Harv carefully dragged him up a little so his torso was propped against his lap.
ââŚYou okay?â asked Harv after a second of looking down at him and listening to the gasps and coughing ease.
ââŚThank you,â said Harvey.
Harv made an assent flavored grunt.
âFor saving me,â he managed, throat feeling raw now and terrible, but determined nevertheless. Harv started to answer, but Harvey noticed too late and kept going, still struggling weakly to breathe evenly again. âIâm sorry. I. never. never said thatâŚâ He swallowed, closed his eyes against the pain in his gut that was overwhelming him. Opened them again, shaky, and looked out at the blurry outline of the river they must have fallen into nearby.
Harv said nothing.
ââŚYou know youâŚyou ruined my life,â continued Harvey quietly after a few seconds, âMyâŚâ
He wanted to cry, for so many reasons, but it felt like there was no point to any of them at all left.
ââŚI lost so much. To you. I⌠⌠âŚBut. You saved my life, too. You did. P-ProtectâŚme. Youâre right. And I neverânever thanked you for that. Any of it. IâŚâ It hurt too much to keep going, and he shuddered and sucked in a breath, eyes squeezed shut, trying to deal with the pain of existing in the moment he was in.
ââŚItâs what I do. I told you,â said Harv after a moment, no easily discernible emotion tied to his voice, âEver since we were kids.â
Wearily, Harvey turned his head to look up at him the little he could. âReally?â he asked weakly, âI donâtâŚrememberâŚmuch.â
âYeah, I kind of think that was the idea,â replied Harv with the hint of a grin.
âYou must despise me,â said Harvey quietly, looking away at nothing.
Harv was quiet a second. ââŚThatâs a strong word, âdespise.â Youâve always been annoying, and weak, and kind of fucking exhausting, butâŚno. Iâve never âdespisedâ you.â
Harvey made himself look back up. Harv was looking down, meeting his gaze, face hard to read.
âIf youâve beenâŚâ He tried to swallow. âTaking my beatings for me, since we were a child, I donât see how that could be possible.â
It was why heâd never wanted to think of it this way. Never let himself try. Making someone else to suffer in your place? Was so unforgivable. If he was really even worse than Harv, what could that possibly make him? It was beyond him. It had always been too much to bear trying to consider.
âWhy do you think I decided to exist and take them?â asked Harv, in a tone Harvey could not remember hearing from him before. Almost an attempt, from something that was never meant to be, at âsoftâ.
Harv glanced away then, at the steadily darkening jungle around them. âGet off your high horse, Harvey. You didnât make me. We made me. I made me. You havenât been able to force me to come out and do anything a day in your life. Iâm not a part of you you control. Thought you at least grasped that much.â
Harvey didnât know what to say to that.
He thought, instead, aching and cold and wounded, running things through one by one, with the little energy he had to do it.
âIâm sorry, Harv,â he offered finally, overwhelmed with sadness suddenly, only when he had already said it.
âI told you-â started Harv.
ââthat I never valued it,â said Harvey. He shut his eyes.
Above him, Harv was quiet. He heard him shift a little, and for a long few seconds, nothing.
âYou did once,â said Harv quietly, almost to himself, âit was just a long time ago.â
Harvey tried to remember, and wished he hadnât.
âDonât worry,â said Harv carelessly above him, âYouâll be fine. Weâll get moving in a little and find somewhere safer to hole up for a few hours, before your âbetterâ half catches up with us.â
âI donât think I can walk,â said Harvey automatically, looking blearily up.
âReally? I hadnât guessed,â replied Harv, voice absolutely dripping with sarcasm, âDo I look like I canât lift you?â
Harvey smiled a little, and let himself shut his eyes again and try to pass out. It had been more than two decades since he remembered it feeling safe in the way he did in this moment, to let himself do that.
having one of those incredible days where i've 'let' myself get so wound up that every single decision is unfathomable now and it's very funny to observe but also exhausting and difficult to actually. make the decisions haha. literally cannot make a single step of rational progress about normal everyday things because i can't think in a straight line. hello???

-ââ˘âŤ As I said, Ji-Su tends to call him when she's drunk at 3am and he tends to get her to keep her safe and not let her alone in the streets that late
-ââ˘âŤ He doesn't go out a lot, and it felt a bit anxiety inducing at first, but slowly he got used to it and going out late was a bit of a "comforting" thing, less noise, less agressive lights, and he can go out with short sleeves without ppl looking at his arm weird
-ââ˘âŤ It also feels good because he helps Ji-Su, his presence is enjoyed, he's being useful, and he feels better having someone who care him (I feel like Ji-Su is the talkative drunk type and she probably all the shit that goes through her head when he's drunk, including nice words for her friends)
-ââ˘âŤ Ji-Su is also happy to have him around, they tend to cope a lot together (after it took way too long to befriend him) so his presence is always appreciated and she minds less about appearing on her weaker side
-ââ˘âŤ The magic is kinda cut out when she starts speaking about needing to barf and he just watches her do her thing a bit worried but also wondering how the hell he ended up here đ anyway they have a funny dynamic I believe I love them so much !!! The made up adoptive sibs I love the most

Absolutely LOVE this panel, I really like how in the entirety of this comic the lines that divide panels are always messy/electric/chaotic because that's what's happening in the comic: chaos. But in this panel when Etho connects with Doc, It's peaceful, It's not an agressive action - It's actually the opposite, It's a peaceful, desperate, last cry for help before Doc shuts Etho down
Now that's an interesting panel, I love Etho's talking being wavy, fading in and out, and all over the place - it's probably meant to represent his thoughts and it does a really good job with it! Every one of these sentences sound heartbreaking in context "I'm so scared" especially gets to me, for no reason actually, maybe because I'm surrounded by death lately irl and it just makes me think about those topics more- how terrifying it actually can be when you think about it
There's a lot of scenes in this panel, I noticed they are actually drawn in chronological order, they go from top left corner (Etho opening his eyes for the first time and seeing Doc and X) and go clockwise (to the panel of Bdubs' death in last life and Etho's hands shaking) get it? CLOCKwise because Bdubs really likes clo- *gets shot*
Also just wanted to point how CRAZY it is when you realise that the first thing Etho saw when he was created was Xisuma on his right and Doc standing on his left a little further away, and the last thing he sees before shutting down is almost the same scene but slightly different and more chaotic! That's some crazy detail-
also not that important detail but Doc started saying "Xisuma" in this panel but was cut off on the "Xis" part when he snapped back into his senses and decided to do something instead of just. standing there đ§ââď¸

The long awaited. At least by me, anyway. I was so so so sick to my stomach when i installed the werewolves pack for the first time and realized the ears just... look like that. No matter what you do. So I fixed it. I fixed your werewolf ear sliders, EA.
The sim must be positioned as demonstrated in the gifs in order for the sliders to work. Sliders from all other directions haven't been touched, so all the original sliders should still be intact. We have an ear position slider, which lets you slide the ears slightly back, slightly forward, and down. Ear width and extra ear scale, because there's no such thing as 'ears too big'. And the last one, which requires detail edit mode to use, is an ear rotation slider. The longer I looked at the unedited ears the more they started to look very weirdly angled to me, so I made this subtle slider as a fix for that. It's very hard to see what you're doing, but thats EA's fault, nothing I can do about that. These are all in the same package, and will conflict with any other werewolf ear sliders. But, as far as I know, these are the only ones. So you should be good. đ
I did my best to give the ears a good range of motion without distorting too much at the extremes. I hope you can get the look you're going for with these. I know I can.
I also made my own version of a snout enlongerer. Setting it to max looks a little silly, but I usually like to push my sliders to the extreme so you have as much play as you need. I don't like it set to max on most of the sims I tested with, but sometimes you do need that extra snoutiness. I think this will conflict with other snout sliders, but it's a separate package, so you don't have to get it if there's another snout slider you're already using.
Lastly, you can all thank my mom for this. I wasn't even going to make a halloween gift this year, but I told my mom about my old WIP Werewolf sliders, and she got very excited about the idea. So I made it. For her. You can have it too, if you want.

Your heart sinks when you realize you raised your voice. Inhaling sharply, you open your mouth to say something, but you swallow your words. All Kazuha could muster up was a chuckle and a sigh, he was clearly upset. Shooting him one last glare you walk off, gently patting your son's back, and trying to calm him.
He reaches out to you, but you avoid his touch and towards him with a sour expression, "Now what do you want? Can't you see I'm busy?" "I- Are you guys really..." His eyebrows furrow as he shakes his head, "No, what I mean to ask is if you told Ayaka about, y'know..." With a deep sigh, you respond in a cold tone, "No. No, I didn't tell her because itâs not really her business.â All he can do is smile and nod before he watches you walk away.
Maybe one day he would come to regret that choice, but you couldnât care less. Even if he tried to be part of your sonâs life you would allow it only if your son wanted to. For now, though, you guys were a happy little family. Your son has a loving father who spoils him with love and affection, and whenever you come home from work youâre always met with your husband playing and chasing your child around the house. Your heart melts with sappy feelings as you watch your husband and son both light up when they see you walk through the door. You could go on forever about how much you love them both but you wonât..

ok gamers I rewatched tristamp one more time in order to write a post about the soundtrack, and some of the stuff I found blew my socks off (even though I've seen every episode like 6 times) so buckle up because oh my god. oh my god
this will cover most of both volumes of the OST (which you can find on spotify), with a focus on wolfwood, and a little bit of vash, meryl, and the eye of michael
...and a very thorough breakdown of "drain arm" :)
notes before I get into it:
-I won't be analyzing the plant song because I. already wrote an entire separate thing about that haha (a link to that doc will be in the replies section of the notes if you're interested)
-you won't need to know anything about music theory, because I'm just pointing out where certain themes come up (with the exception of "duet", but I'll explain terminology there). timestamps will be included so you can listen for them as you read
-if you're obsessed with the OST like I am, most of this probably won't be anything new x) but I hope it's enjoyable regardless
-my credentials: I was a pianist for 10 years and an oboist for 7.5 years and I only had 1 semester of intermediate music theory but I got to analyze the 1st mvt of tchaik 5 and I think that permanently altered my brain chemistry
-the tracks I recommend being familiar with to have a better grasp on this post are:
-> "whistling/blues harp in the wasteland" (vash's leitmotif)
-> "reality"
-> "childhood memories"
-> "duet"
-> "human subject" (eye of michael, or EoM, leitmotif)
-> "drain arm" (technically optional)
-please don't take any of my interpretations/speculation as fact! you are absolutely free to come to your own conclusions I just have a lot of thoughts about the soundtrack lol đ
here we go :]
EP1:
-you can hear a variation of the plant song in "immigrant space explorer" (0:36-1:00)
-vash's leitmotif is first heard in "no man's land" (0:41-0:48)
-only about half of "mystery man" plays, and his leitmotif (0:38-0:51) is actually cut from the scene so it's not heard at all
EP2:
-"escape" has vash's leitmotif from 0:18-0:31. they also took out the lyrics in the episode's version of the track x)
-it's possible that we'll hear "might is right" or a new arrangement of it if we get to see the rest of the nebraska family in future episodes, since there were posters of marilyn. I think people largely associate the song with EG the Mine but due to the track title and the fact that it first played in this episode, I feel like it's more about the nebraskas
-I'll talk about "childhood memories" in ep12 because it's related to rem's themes
EP3:
-the plant song can be heard in "compatriots" (1:01-1:11)
-"reality" is first heard here, right before the episode in which wolfwood is introduced. keep this in mind for later :')
EP4:
-"undertaker" has a dissonant sax part (0:48-0:54) that's similar to the one found in "irritation" (1:05-1:11), but it's an ascending passage rather than descending. it doesn't show up anywhere else so it might become a motif we'll hear in the future, but there's no way to know until the next part is released
-"planet zaji", from 0:55-1:04, has that one part from "time left" (1:02-1:09). it's heard while wolfwood's spinning the punisher around but I think it's just something that sounds cool, and you can't really hear it anyway because of the sound effects/dialogue. if zazie gets any additional themes in the future I might have more to say on this
-vash's leitmotif kicks in in "hungry !" (0:21-0:43) when wolfwood introduces himself at the end of the episode. I really like this track I hope we'll get to hear it again x)
EP5:
-I don't think there's any meaning behind "shadow" borrowing from "worms network". I'm pretty sure it was just for mood (and to be fair it is a cool track)
-you can hear vash's leitmotif at the beginning of "boy and vash". this is the part where vash is escorting rollo back to the village
-"cyborg" introduces a new 4-note pattern (0:07-0:14) that I'm calling the eye of michael leitmotif. if hearing this reminds you of episode 6 then you already understand what I mean
-"dud" has vash's leitmotif as well (2:20-2:59), which starts playing when vash is begging rollo to wake up after wolfwood kills him
-only a small part of "human subject" (0:25-0:35) is used for the final scene, right when the windmills start turning. using the EoM leitmotif as a sendoff to the empty village is. really haunting
EP6 (this is a long one I'm sorry):
-the EoM leitmotif can be heard in "reborn" (0:09-0:14, but it's easier to hear in 0:26-0:30). this is the opening scene where wolfwood guns down the deserter
-they do reuse "worms network" when livio first opens fire on vash but that's more for mood in my opinion. you could say it hints at zazie monitoring the sand steamer though
-we're probably going to hear "the desert rogue" again when the bad lads gang shows up in a future episode, possibly with a new arrangement for brilliant dynamites neon (this is one of my personal favorite tracks actually. it's a shame they didn't get to use the whole thing because 0:45 to the end is really cool)
-"boyhood" contains the EoM leitmotif and it's very in-your-face in this song (1:15-2:19). in the episode itself the track gets cut at around 2:10, but in the OST the piano motif from "orphanage" can be heard one more time right at the end of the song at 2:18-2:20. which is an evil thing to do. anyway
-"nicholas the punisher" is an arrangement of "reality". let that sit for a second, maybe go listen to those two tracks or something.
okay so we can look at this in a few different ways:
-> the end of episode 3 is of course a reality check, supported by the corresponding track being titled "reality" (even though it's fabricated by nai: to suggest and then prove to the people of no man's land that vash is indeed deserving of the $$6mil bounty; and to tell vash that his presence will pose a threat to humans). you know who else is supposed to be* grounded in reality? the pragmatic nicholas d wolfwood, who's introduced at the start of episode 4
*tristamp wolfwood hasn't quite found his resolve yet, as shown by his hesitation when livio appears
-> in the scene where "nicholas the punisher" is heard, vash is insistent on rescuing livio while wolfwood pushes back and says it's too late for him. he's clearly wishing he wouldn't have to eliminate livio though, and with "reality" as the foundation of this song, it presents wolfwood's inner turmoil in a new way for the audience: vash, who is physically right there trying to persuade him that there's still hope for his brother, vs his role as "nicholas the punisher" in sound, in his mind, and the "reality" that developed along with it (death is/can be a mercy, and sometimes it's necessary to sacrifice one life to save many)
(I also want to add that while legato's dialogue shows he intended for the orphanage to be eliminated through livio's death, it seems wolfwood didn't even realize that killing livio would mean more kids would be taken by the EoM for experimentation. he thought he had to choose between livio or the children, but it was a "test" of loyalty; and legato was attempting to obtain said loyalty by force)
-> outside of the episode, if you were to just listen to this track within the OST it's very representative of his character. contrary to "undertaker", which is fairly laid-back and....honestly kind of playful (and equally reflective of wolfwood's personality, when he's relaxed), "nicholas the punisher" is a more somber and contemplative piece. the fact that it's built on "reality" already suggests that he's someone whose beliefs conflict with vash's; and even without knowing that, both of wolfwood's themes contrast with the energy of "vash the stampede" quite clearly (even if I personally don't consider that track to be vash's official theme, it's still associated with him). I think it's really interesting that vash, the quieter one, has more raucous songs while wolfwood, the one with a sharp tongue, has calmer tracks :)
you might be wondering if "orphanage" is in "nicholas the punisher" and the answer is......yes, but actually, no. but kinda if you're delusional like me. this little pattern from 0:29-0:42 in "orphanage" is found in the low brass from 0:57-1:11 in "nicholas the punisher" (although it's in a different key and has a slight variation in the 2nd half). it's not quite the same, but both phrases start by going down a half step, then down a P5 interval (D->C#->F# for "orphanage", F->E->A for "nicholas the punisher"). lastly the sand steamer's leitmotif (I guess) is also present but that's. obviously because this is happening on the sand steamer lol
-"whom to kill, whom to let live" is just a faster/more tense arrangement of "orphanage" with saxophone over it. starting at 1:07 you can hear the worms leitmotif (1:31-1:34 in "worms network")
I can't say whether or not legato is already represented in the OST because he's currently not associated with any unique tracks, but they might tie the dissonant saxophone passage from "irritation" to him. it's first heard when legato stops wolfwood from escaping the facility, and as far as I can remember it's not played anywhere else. if he plays a bigger role in the next season, which I'm sure he will, I'll be keeping an ear out for this x) (I only mention the sax thing because I don't think he's represented by the sax solo that plays in "whom to kill, whom to let live")
EP7:
-a little more of "the desert rogue" is heard when the bad lads make their way onto the sand steamer but it's very hard to make out over the gang yelling in the background lmao
-we're treated to the entirety of "human subject", for the scene where livio briefly returns to himself. if you somehow weren't convinced that those repeated 4 notes had anything to do with the eye of michael, this is the last instance where it's heard: the moment livio's overcome by whatever brainwashing was used on him by the EoM
-I think most people associate "time left" with ep12 but it's first played in this episode and I believe that it was primarily composed with the ion cannon sequence in mind (though a majority of the tracks in the OST only play once for specific scenes, with some songs being cut short and getting different parts played across 2+ episodes. "irritation" and "human subject" are examples of this)
EP8:
-this one's a little hard to hear because the 1st note is implied in the C drone but vash's leitmotif starts at around 0:09 in "complicity" and runs all the way to 1:06
-it's also in "home" (1:38-1:57), playing at the moment luida hands vash the red coat :)
EP9:
-I've talked about this before but I really like that there's 4(?) measures of polyrhythm (2 or more differing rhythmic lines that are played within the same time signature) when vash joins in, before the brothers come together on the same even rhythm. you can see how vash's quarter-note pattern doesn't line up with nai's quarter-note triplets, and in fact, neither of them ever land or start together:
(for the sake of comprehension I wrote it out with a faster tempo to stretch the polyrhythm part over 8 bars instead of the slow tempo/4 bars. I'm not sure what the official tempo is. I think a sane person would write it at a faster tempo so that the part doesn't look stupidly cluttered but a good musician would be able to play it regardless. anyway-)
it sounds even more stilted because vash is playing on the offbeat. polyrhythm's such a great way to represent the brothers' relationship because it seems so chaotic but both lines are still in time together, following the same beats. they're so different but in the end they're still brothers who (are trying to) understand each other. and I love that vash is playing secondo, a more harmonic/supportive part, while knives has primo, where the melody/ornaments are. it says a lot about their personalities :')
since I don't know what the original sheet music looks like I can't say if this is true but you can hear that the plant song at 1:03 is played in octaves (2 notes that're the same pitch with one higher than the other). because of the nature of a duet, and the fact that this was played by the twins when they were little, the octaves were probably split between the parts. so vash was playing the lower octave of the plant song with his right hand, and nai played the upper octave with his left hand (we don't get to see this because it cuts to nai playing the song alone at that point). also: vash favors his right hand while nai favors his left
-now for something far less interesting: "last run" is a medley combining "ethics and morality", "compatriots", and "millions knives"
EP10:
-"a cruel sight" seems to be unused. it was probably intended to lead into "bio-power reactor" in the scene where meryl and roberto meet elendira in the tank (given that it ends the same way "bio-power reactor" starts), but they cut it and just played a version of "bio-power reactor" without the melody
-elendira's themes ("elendira the crimsonnail" and "which is the monster?") seem to have some lyrics that're most audible in the beginning of the tracks but they're almost impossible to make out without some kind of editing software, which I don't have lol. they're already very quiet in the background and they echo, on top of sounding like they were put through autotune
also this is entering speculation territory but it makes me wonder if elendira's theme is going to evolve with her. we've seen some concept art with her having a more teenage appearance, so I think it'd be really cool if the vocals also changed accordingly
additionally she doesn't have the EoM leitmotif anywhere but she DOES have a proper 4-note chromatic pattern that descends from D in "which is the monster?" (1:32-1:35), which is the same note that the EoM leitmotif starts on. if we consider EoM's broken chromatic passage to represent the failed experiments, then elendira, with an actual chromatic passage in her theme, is a success
-"meryl's regrets" is ALSO an arrangement of "reality" :') this is the track that plays during roberto's final moment, which was. you know. the consequence of meryl running off in pursuit of the truth. the "reality" roberto had warned her about several times prior to episode 10. interestingly, while "nicholas the punisher" expands on the original track, "meryl's regrets" is a reduction--it's mostly just the baseline with some notes here and there. she doesn't have a theme yet, but 1:23-1:33 might be something we hear again if/when she gets a track associated with her
EP11:
-"nicholas and meryl" is an arrangement of "boy and vash", with erhu echoing vash's leitmotif. I think it's a neat way to show through music that both of them are here because of vash :]
-the tracklist goes slightly out of order at this point for some reason. after "memory retrieval", "memory of geranium" is what plays in the final memory, when nai decapitates rem
EP12:
-"memory of rem" is a combination of "childhood memories" and "memory of geranium". "childhood memories" is also found in "knives's piano", which is based on "duet". one fun way of interpreting this is that the "childhood memories" part of the duet is actually from rem, if she was the one who taught the twins how to play piano, which would make "duet" a musical representation of vash and nai's roots (pun intended. sorry). this also suggests nai misses rem, with how often he plays the piano, even if he thinks he hates her.
but "childhood memories" can also simply be seen as a theme that's associated with rem, nai, and vash's brief time together x)
-okay this is the part where I get to rant about "drain arm" because THIS SONG was literally the reason I decided I needed to rewatch stampede. I was listening to "drain arm" a couple weeks after the finale aired and I heard vash's leitmotif near the end and I was like "NO WAY!!!! HOW DID I MISS THAT"
as it turns out, it was cut from episode 12.

not to worry though, I still have plenty to say about it. even if I'm a little disappointed. just. a little.
-> from 1:13-1:25, you can hear vash's leitmotif in the cello. this DID make it into the scene, and it plays when vash rises through the clouds
-> 2:44-3:10 is where some of the lyrics from vocal version of "millions knives" play: "remember how / we used to be / no turning back / sky's (skies??) falling down". although you can't actually hear the "remember how" in "drain arm" (at least not without blasting the song into your ears, which I don't recommend), it starts right when the image of vash and nai sitting in the geodome appears
-> we finally get the plant song at 3:36, when the condensed energy starts to leak out/charge. and then after it fires, but before nai dives into the beam, we hear "I still care for you" (3:44-3:52). and while it's originally from the vocal version of "millions knives", in the context of the scene I think it's a sentiment from both brothers: vash, who pleads for nai to let go and releases the energy away from him; and then knives, desperately reaching for the cube because he believes the success of his plan will ensure his family's (and especially his brother's) safety, the only ones he's ever cared about
in other words: plant song in cello = vash -> "I still care for you" -> continuation of plant song in low brass = knives. they're connected by this single sentence
-> knives's leitmotif (I didn't talk about it because it's only found in songs that signal his appearance, so it's really obvious, but yes he's got one of those) plays at 4:03 for the "nai is dead. you killed him" exchange
-> it goes back to a variation of the plant song at 4:29 (I LOVE the piano at 4:40-4:49 btw. it's so good. I could cry about it. probably)
if you've read my plant song analysis you might be wondering how to tell when it's being associated with the name millions knives instead of the plant race. since we know that a good chunk of the songs in the OST were written like a film score, the visual context (and/or the song titles themselves) can clue you in. "drain arm"'s use of the plant song is meant to highlight that vash and nai aren't human, so it's the latter
-> now here's the part that was removed, probably due to the runtime: vash's leitmotif in the cello again, from 5:03-5:09. if you revisit the part right before nai lets go of the cube, you'll hear that it skips these 6 seconds and goes straight to knives's theme ("but that's the plant song!" yes. we'll get to that in a sec). this missing bit right here?? fucks me up EVERY time. it's the most mournful his leitmotif has ever sounded, appropriately so, and it's absolutely criminal that it wasn't included. especially because knives's theme, the plant song melody, follows it up on violin as the cello continues to play a line in harmony.
and it's knives's theme because in this moment it's about him dying, not the plants. they spent a whole season tricking us into thinking that the plant song was knives's theme, and then they used it to send him off.
-> and then july city explodes o7
as much as I'd love to hear "drain arm" again for another chance to let the weight of vash's motif come through, I think it's too intertwined with this scene to be recycled. like. maaaaaaaybe they could use it for fifth moon if that's supposed to be the climax of the next part but they kinda?? already did the "fire a really big laser at the sky" thing? anyway yeah I'm totally normal about "drain arm". so normal
Extras:
-the punisher and the double fangs have these cool sound effects when they transform and it kinda makes me think that their guns are built from lost tech, if the punisher's laser cannon wasn't evidence enough of this
-there's no equivalent of "sound life" in stampede, and I don't think there's going to be one. however, I do think that it would make a lot of sense if rem taught the boys how to play piano, because we could get something like:
-> rem asks vash about the plant song (the memory in ep12)
-> she gives the boys piano lessons
-> she helps them compose "duet"
-they didn't use "stampede out" for this season but I really hope we'll hear it in the next part. I know it's just a longer version of "escape" but it's a fun song :]
-this is. obvious but you can hear "gate" in "millions knives". no idea if they'll put "gate" into more songs, especially for vash now that he seems to have some control over it
-there's also something kinda fun with key signatures too:
-> "millions knives" is in b minor
-> vash's leitmotif is in d dorian (of course this changes depending on the key signature of whatever track it's used in)
-> "undertaker" is also in d dorian
-> I think songs associated with no man's land/humanity are usually in some dorian scale or specifically the key of a minor but this is solely based on jeneora rock since july city had its own unique theme so I'm not totally sure yet. "duet" is in a minor by the way
-> "nicholas the punisher" is in d minor. if "undertaker" is tied to humanity (which is tied to vash) then "nicholas the punisher" is linked to the other side: knives, through the EoM. it adds another interesting layer to the contrast between wolfwood's two themes, but I don't consider this to hold any meaning lol
-> I WILL say that b minor is the relative minor of D Major, so having knives and vash's songs be written in those keys was likely deliberate. and what makes it really interesting is that to get d dorian, you take a D Major scale and lower the 3rd and 7th notes by a half step
-I'm not 100% sure but I think plucked piano strings were used to create the low, scratchy string sound effect in some of the songs (one example is literally at the beginning of "irritation"). I think it's really cool that piano is everywhere in the soundtrack, but not necessarily by hitting the keys
-I am unbelievably excited for livio's/razlo's themes because they have the opportunity to do some REALLY COOL things with the music for them. we might not get them in part 2 (though I think we will) but whenever it happens I'll be so ready for it >:)

iâll start with the second image. so the deal here is that my farmer samuel, as a âplayerâ, has access to things like an inventory and ability to heal wounds by just eating food. heâs also in a magic contract with yoba where he gets extra powers, like higher pain tolerance, combat skills, and teleportation. there are costs of course, but it still makes samuel into a monster-slaying machine. which yoba needs them to be in order to help it do things like traverse the mines to find the missing pieces of itself in powerful monsters. problem is, samuel tends to get kind of scary when theyâre in battle mode. they get lost in it.
for the first image, the big space tree snake is essentially yobaâs true form. this scene is meant to be part of a season finale kinda episode where Major Shit has gone and is going down. pelican town is being attacked by an enemy force, which iâm still trying to brainstorm on, but i think itâs gonna be a cult that thinks theyâre following âyobaâs will.â that âwillâ being given to them by a mysterious otherworldly being that they think is yoba (but obviously isnât).
anyway, things are looking pretty bad. townâs burning, most of the residents are being held under siege at the saloon where they evacuated to, and all the capable fighters like marlon and rasmodius are out of commission (not dead, just injured or something). the idea here is that samuel ends up last line of defense. but during a big dramatic anime fight scene, he gets very badly wounded. and yoba finally snaps and is able to find the power in itself to unleash its true form to protect everyone. yknow. classic cute hero shit like that. i love my cheese. :) đ§
i was thinking of mr. qi being the main villain, pulling strings behind the scenes (like manipulating a cult into believing youâre yoba). i think of qi as an alien being like yoba, but they have beef with each other. like okay the demogorgon/One banishings were an obvious parallel since the second we saw it, but I never realized how many similarities there are throughout the whole finale especially when you include the flashback part:

El walking down a dark hallway with particles floating towards her towards a glowing red exit hole = visually similar to El's trip down the birth canal [so specifically the 4x7 massacre version with the vaginal birth memory]
El turning around with the crack in the chalkboard behind her = El turning around with the crack in the RR wall behind her [so specifically the 4x1 version of this shot because that's the one with the gate]'
the party taking El into the classroom = Brenner being in the test room for lessons with Ten when the massacre starts [this being a Brenner-only scene sorta rules out this being purely based on organic memories of El's? unless El = Ten]
at the end of the school part, El is "born" into a stark white school hallway that, even upon a s2-era watch, seemed a bit labby. but post-4 we can really appreciate this set design... horizontal stripes wrapping the walls and a corresponding pattern in the floor tiles? blood smeared all along the floor like somebody got dragged? El, covered in a nasty substance, falling perfectly centered onto the floor pattern after "experiencing" her own birth? that's pure Rainbow Room, baby.
I'm not trying to construct a narrative with that video, I'm just matching shots that reminded me of other shots, so its parallels are all out of order and roles switch around (but then, ditto the actual massacre).
had to kinda shoehorn in El getting dragged because we don't see how those blood trails happen in s1 but you'll forgive me. (someone else getting dragged through blood here vs us seeing El get dragged in the massacre smth smth multiple els in the massacre)
also.. where are the bodies?... disappearing/moving massacre bodies... MPs wouldn't drag their dead down the hall, they'd pick them up. so the demogorgon dragged them? creature massacre theory save me

Sometimes I have beef with the translations for niche things and sometimes itâs because theyâre plain stupidâŚ
Like, I hate how Umemiya says âdo you like or hate himâ here (specifically referring to Togame, ăăă¤, and actually stressing on the âlikeâ part in the next scene because Sakura tried to stand up for him) and Sakura just full out blushes like his crush has been found out (and heâs doing that a LOT! Trust me~ Heâs a tsun, fun little guy <3), but the translation is just this generic line that sounds creepy af on top of detached from the person it refers to (ăă is a word that is generally used as âlikeâ as in I like pasta, but for humans it heavily implies liking someone like that, because when mentioned it refers to the love side of the meaning) and itâs so⌠hmpf~ đ¤

And heâs not even trying to deny IIIIIIIT (for once)!!! (//â//)
And this has struck a chord, you know? Because Sakura is a tsun, heâs not accepting that people have seen through him but thatâs the only case he does not say anything to deny it. He does not try to deflect. He merely blushes furiously but quietly accepts Umemiyaâs statement before he asks whatâs so important about being able to âconverseâ with his fists like⌠_(:3 ăâ )_

Umemiyaâs explanation that this has to meet two conditions in order to happen is⌠making things even more personal⌠hhhn~ a) you need to face your opponent and b) to want to know them (and Sakura did thought that during their fight; anyone else getting flashbacks from all those shojo/bl manga this has been used as the catalyst for the mc to acknowledge their feelings, like I did here??? huh???). Ahem. YeahâŚ
Then the whole thing about how Sakura is still capable of accepting others, even though he says he doesnât⌠(Nirei pointing out that heâs been accepted by Sakura even though heâs not strong enough to hold a fight on his own, is a proof of it.)
Not to mention how the only thing he could come up for punishment was âget cooler so Iâll want to fight you againâ, coming from a guy whoâs literally considering fighting his entire damn personality and reason to exist! áŚ(ò_ĂłË)ᤠYou like Togame, you accept him (even though you absolutely thought the worst of him at the start), and I dare say heâs even the first person you ever really came to like and your feelings were actually reciprocated â he had an impact in you the way he called your name and invited you to resume your fight â that you were thinking back to it, you also like how heâs stronger than you (you reflected back on how youâd actually lose to him if he hadnât given up⌠come on, tell me Iâm wrong if you can, Iâll wait~)⌠Jokeâs on you, Sakura-chan~ (âď¸ ŐਠŐ)âď¸

"Drive me somewhere you've been liking" -> hes a people pleaser, letting someone take the reins while he supports them and hangs back is kind of his thing. Even though he plans stuff out and chooses his words deliberately, sometimes he goes along with ppl's wants and expectations for him a bit too much...
"Order something I don't want, I'll drink it anyway" -> basically Kabru when he had to eat the harpy eggs Laios offered lmao. 'Right, i hate this so much this is Monster. okay. wow i need to kill you' hes literally triggered (in the ptsd term sense and not the. warped internet meaning of it) and he's still like okay ! i will dig in ! to prove a point ! so laios likes and trusts me! (... what point kabru . cmon man. )
"Take a little time, it's funny how you're fine when I'm away -> he needs to be needed. He needs to help others, save them even, to protect them from the tragedy he has experienced. He's used to being dismissed and he does swallow it and take it but ik he was so đ¤¨đ§đ abt laios ignoring him and all the attempts to get to know him... so its like take a lil tine its funny how ur fine when im away ... Kabru knows Laios is the closest to conquering the dungeon. and hes like. I rlly wanna help u do this but . ik ur probably fine without me (... man he makes me . so đ)

A bottom line I'll be" -> A bottom line in business is like the final total right. The sum of everything thats written at the bottom. The ultimate outcome... the core. The fate of the dungeon is something he wants to decide and get a say in as well. Even though he knows he isn't the one thats going to conquer it, he chooses to stop Mithrun from beating up Thistle and grabs him and they free fall into that pit. Because he decided, yeah, the fate of this dungeon the one to conquer it has to be us short-lived races/humans. He is such an action oriented character . He makes such decisions. He is so determined to make sure that Utaya doesn't repeat itself. Man.

2. Smoke and Mirrors by Gotye
This entire song is So Kabru coded its insane to me . but I grabbed these lyrics from Verse 3 Because the last line specifically makes. me go crazy.
"You're a fraud, and you know it" -> the freaking masker . he is such a liar and he knows it... theres not much else to say here. Playing the hero, the saviour, while knowing he doesn't actually have the skills to defeat the dungeon but hes just so desperate . man
"And every night and day you take the stage" -> he should get an acting award fr... always adjusting his personality and carefully planning his steps with each person he interacts with man... also inchtresting to me that he gets to be more #real with Mithrun. thats a whole nother analysis can of worms I won't get into but like they rlly drove each other's character development...
"And it always entertains, you're giving pleasure" -> To quote Holm, Kabru is the typa guy who would do anything to get someone to like him akdjskhf hes so real for that...
"And that's admirable, you tell yourself" -> (kabru voice) im so cool for this ahaha everyone loves me (guy who genuinely fucking loathes himself) /ref

GENUINELY cannot really do this analysis lyric by lyric or I will go ... well. I'll go into the deep end but . like . right. anyway. this set of lyrics above aka the most popular line is very Kabru appearance. (Goodness i need to make an AMV of this. I will one day once the executive dysfunction stops fighting my autistic hyperfixation ass)
THIS WHOLE . SET OF LYRICS IS JUST BIG KABRU VIBES (SOURCE: JUST TRUST ME BRO)... His heart is full of swords... the sword fighter (he is proficient in many weapons)... im not big into tarot (or well i havent researched it much) but the annotations for these lyrics said that its referencing the Three of Swords tarot card, which represents painful sorrow. and like.. man like a fundamental sorrow in Kabru is so oughh its just so . real. and again i need a whole nother analysis post for this since this is already So long
Tie my hands & knock my knees. he is so stressed he is so . nervous all the time and these r like. the freeze . trauma response. to me. he goes freeze and fawn a lot (fawn not specifically with abusers per say but like people pleasing tendencies again) and like kind of visibly looking nervous and stressed out up before saying smth next is smth he does a lot I feel.
And like the vibe of like sinking to the sea with a heavy heart but also being someone who brings hope in a way to others (ex: Rin and Mithrun, he ends up being their anchor and helping them start like living with their lives after the burden of their traumas and hellish experiences) but Kabrus own traumas are so immense and then the person who rises . who foils him and who brings him hope is Laios. like a ripe red apple like. something bright and tempting and also dangerous (smth smth the forbidden fruit symbolism. theres so much . like Kabru that I can dissect with like Biblical symbolism themes but like anyway he sees Laios as both the key to humanity's victory against the dungeon and as sin / a distraction from his goal because Laios makes him do selfish things and its just AAAAHGHH rahhhh. man. im normal)
