Can't believe you're gonna make me think of something nice to say about myself 🤣 I've been told I have a very "lyrical" style of writing, and sometimes I'll write a sentence or paragraph that flows really well and just Hits. I love those moments when I feel like I've really nailed it at a word-for-word level.

👨‍👩‍👦 Do you tell people in real life that you write fic?

Most people in my life know I do writing of some sort, but I'm pretty vague with the details lol. I only talk about writing fic with irl friends who also write/read fic (and I don't tell most of them that I write smut, just bc I know it isn't their jam). I told my therapist I write "character studies," because what is smut if not horny character analysis? 🤣

Ok I was a little nervous about sharing this because it's from a longer AU I've been toying around with, and historically I'm very bad at sticking to longer projects. But regardless of what I do with it I had a lot of fun writing this scene of M&M tormenting Blitz lmao

Blitz could feel his face heating up. “He isn’t— It’s not like—” Fuck, he was losing this one fast. “Okay, so maybe we’re boning or whatever, but it’s just a casual thing, you know? It’s not like we’re dating or anything.” Moxxie raised an eyebrow. It was almost impressive how smug he looked. “Who said anything about dating?” “I think he just did, babe.” Okay, now they were getting on his nerves. He could feel his spines starting to bristle.  “Look. It’s just a convenience thing, ‘kay? He gets to have his bad boy fantasy, and I get a reliable fuck who I know won’t steal my kidneys while I’m asleep.” It wasn’t like Stolas would ever really consider a relationship with someone like him. Disowned or not, he was still a royal. And that was fine! Blitz didn’t want anything complicated, anyway. Fucking was easy. It was comfortable. It was all either of them was looking for.  “If you say so, sir.” Moxxie had somehow dialed the smugness up to eleven.  Blitz rolled his eyes and walked towards the door. “I’m firing both of you. And I’m keeping your shares for today.” He was pretty sure Moxxie started to say something in response, but he was out the door before he heard it.  He let himself stew as he made his way down to the parking lot. “Looking for excuses,” for fuck's sake. They were hired killers! What did they expect? He was going to get injured sometimes. And it only made sense to go see Stolas, who knew more about this shit than any of them did. Besides, a quick fuck sesh was good for you, or something. Boosted your sero-whatever levels. Got your blood pumping. It was basically healthcare, anyway. Talk about a bedside manner, he thought to himself, grinning. He made a mental note to use that one with Stolas later. He'd think it was funny.

“C’mere, B, let me take a look at that scratch for you.” Millie had opened up their first-aid kit and had just finished bandaging a shallow cut on her thigh. Blitz looked down at the wounded arm that she’d gestured to. It wasn’t serious— an annoyance, more than anything. He shrugged. “Eh, that’s okay. I’ll just have my guy take a look at it.” Millie eyed him skeptically, like she was trying to catch him in a lie. “You know, you’ve been spending an awful lot of time with this mysterious “guy” of yours lately.” Moxxie looked up from his paperwork with a conspiratorial smile. “You’ve been seeing him for everything, even minor injuries. Almost like you’re looking for excuses to pay him a visit.” Oh great, the famous M&M tag team. “What? No, I haven’t.” Even he knew he sounded defensive. “Sure looks that way to me.” Millie crossed her arms and perched on the edge of the desk so that she and Moxxie could give him the double stare-down. Cute. “Are you sure that medical attention’s all he’s been giving you?”

Did the bathroom stall person STAY a stranger?

He did, the poor fellow! Here's some backstory to explain how on earth my shy-as-hell dumbass worked the courage to have some bathroom stall shenanigans:

So I started dating this classmate in highschool, (the one I often refer to as "the deceased" bc he's dead to me) and he was a major asshole. Emotionally abusive, controlling, made me feel bad about literally every single thing I enjoyed, especially writing fanfiction and not being a boring piece of shit like he was.

Welp! I spent like a decade with this bastard bc he was a classic abusive dickhead who pushed my friends away and I couldn't see that he was a major asshole until I started therapy. When I was 26 my therapist, clever lady she was, knew I was suffering but also v attached to him still, so she suggested us to "take a break". Not breaking up, just take a break, for one month, and reevaluate the relationship.

I spent a long time moping over him but my bestie said "wait does that mean I can finally take you clubbing?" and I proceeded to have an absolute blast dancing and having fun with her!

The second time we went clubbing, it was a star wars themed party! I went as a cute padmé amidala, and spent the night dancing and watching snippets of SW movies that played on the big screens, explaining to my very confused bff who's never watched a star war in her life why I was attracted to the angry looking alien with horns and red skin w/ black tattoos - darth maul. She remained confused.

(Fun fact, I'm autistic and loud environments make me literally sick, but I think I needed this freedom so badly my brain let me have these moments for once. Now I literally cannot enter a club. Anyway.)

While we're dancing, a handsome clone-trooper looking type walked past us and I think I gave him such an eye-fucking of a look that he made a beeline to me and took me to dance (I gave a thumbs-up to my bff bc she is v protective and will push creepy dudes away from me, bless her).

Then we started kissing and fooling around in a corner, and the guy invited me over to his place.

(here's the thing, my ex literally acted like sex was a chore. I repeatedly, gently asked him whether he was asexual, promising to be okay with it if it was the case but he swore he wasnt which. made me feel like I was very unappealing and did a number on my self-esteem. Oof.)

So I was pent up as hell and desperate for a fuck, especially a fuck with an enthusiastic guy for once in my life. On the other hand, girls that go with strangers to their place might be raped or killed. So when I said no, the guy suggested we fucked in the bathroom.

Now, that wouldn't be proper ladylike behavior, i reasoned with myself, while fully cupping the guy's groin with my hand. So I said a very unconvincing no, and the guy asked if I was sure, and I said "we might be caught", and he said "not if we're quiet"

...and goddamnit I was so damn horny and I can't even blame it on being drunk bc I don't drink alcohol out bc it makes me sleepy. This was 100% horny brain in charge and I was the one to actually pull the guy into the bathroom with me.

(We're gonna fade to black here bc I'm not willing to share those details here, but I can point out the funny bits):

there wasn't enough room in that bathroom stall for someone to pee comfortably, much less for two people to squeeze in and do the horizontal vertical tango

if you ever wanna do that, do that early in the night, not after dancing for hours because your knees will want to buckle the entire time and that's not hot

be smart and have condoms in your bag. wrap it up, folks. it's the 21st century and everyone who's sexually active should have their protection regardless of gender or lack thereof <3

Ok lol, this is stupid as hell but I feel the need to liveblog my reaction to this book I'm reading bc 1) it's a mass-market romance novel (which I never read so it's an exciting adventure for me) and 2) actually I think that's all, just the one reason. I'm putting under a read more bc I know it's not important but I'm doing this for my own sanity.

Ok. I was "gifted" this book by virtue of being close to someone who works at a bookstore and being given advanced readers that seem like ones I'd be interested when they come in. This particular one is one of those light, cheesy popcorn books; it's wlw romance which I'm not a stranger to but when I want that kind of thing I almost exclusively read historical fiction/romance. So this is a silly one to me.

The premise is one woman works at a gym, she gets invited to her gay best friend's sister's wedding, the bride doesn't want to get married and ditches the fiance, then they get together. Idk lol, but sure. I'm gonna keep updating my thoughts as I go through this bc like I said, these kind of light romance novels are not something I ever read (except in one instance where my friend made me read one from a series she really likes and I just couldn't do it man [ok I still did for her but I didn’t enjoy it]. I'm sorry if you do enjoy them, it's fine and good but not for me).

Ok to start off with, I think the relationship between the MC and her best friend is cute- he reminds me of one of my best friends in middle/high school and their conversations bounce off each other in similar ways. But it's also really cringe bc every other line is like he's SO gay he flirts with EVERY man he sees and has a MILLION toxic exes, etc.

Anyway. He makes her come with him as his date to his sister's wedding, with the bonus implication that she can get a promotion at the gym (bc his parents own it). MC goes along with it, as her dream is to own her own gym and she wants to make herself look better, whatever.

Not even the FIRST day they get to where the wedding is going to be, she runs into the bride and is already horny, also I have to share this little snippet bc lmao???

Hot cow eyes. Okay.

Anyway, the next day comes and the wedding is going to be at one of those massive complexes where there's like a mansion people stay and the actual wedding is in a barn and the theme is like that tacky rustic kind of thing. Whatever (also sorry if you like that- again, just not my thing).

MC gets too drunk at the open bar before the rehearsal dinner and makes a fool out of herself, then runs to the bathroom only to hear crying from one of the stalls. She knocks and is like "hey are you ok? i have to check bc 'girl code'". The woman crying opens the stall and they start talking. MC tries to pull out some tissues from her purse but instead pulls out a napkin of cocktail shrimp (ok I did laugh bc I would also steal cocktail shrimp for later, I would not eat them in the bathroom though, which is what she proceeds to do).

Anyway, the woman (who is obviously the bride but MC doesn't know that yet bc she's never met her best friend's sister[???]) is like "wehhh I had to come here and things w/ my SO are not great, I wish I could leave him" and MC is like "ok, then do it". Bride is like "I can't break up with him at a wedding!"

They keep talking and later MC finds out it was actually the bride and is like oh fuck, I essentially told the bride to ditch the groom.

The bride does ditch the groom and flees the country on the honey moon alone (???) then returns and is like "everyone's mad at me oh noooo".

And that's where I've left off so far and OKAY. This woman annoys me already lmao like as someone who has called off an engagement WHY would you do it the day before the wedding?? I know this is a common trope in these kinds of things but jesus christ lmao. Yeah I wonder why everyone is pissed maybe bc you never SAID anything and people sunk tens of thousands of dollars into it and whatever. And she clearly knew like?? Idk man. When I got engaged it took a couple months before I was really honest w/ myself, but I knew I didn't want to drag it out/hurt myself and the other person and the families involved in so many ways by keeping it going until the last moment?? Stupid. Like it’s okay to realize something isn’t right for you and work through it but at least try to be considerate and responsible? Although I did really feel her when she was talking about how "nothing was wrong in the relationship, so I just kept going with it". Damn, I don't need bad romance novels to make me feel things like that lol.

ANYWAY. I will be back when I read more, if you read all this I am very sorry. I had a lot of caffeine today bc in between reading this I've had to work on last minute project stuff when I was needed and I'm super wired rn.

i like me better (jaehyun) : it's just the way i always seem to come back to his lauv cover and the way it gets me in the mood every time </3 i wrote this while having that video on loop in the background and voila, a serene and kinda cute semi-strangers to possibly lovers where jaehyun visits a foreign country and doesn't want to leave.

le mur des je t'aime (jungwon) : oh god this is one of my absolute favourites, because as short as it may be, i had all of the feels writing this for him. it's one of those fics i wrote where i genuinely questioned if i would ever get to experience the purest form of love.

the way home (yeonjun) : again, vibes in the forefront. i was feeling homesick even though i was literally in my own bed and felt like i was missing someone i don't even really know and so what better way to share it than with a quick drabble? they're strangers, essentially, but you're the closest thing to ever make him feel at home.

rain again (gaon) : no real plot, just a little thing i wrote when i felt numb to my very core. i cherish this one to the moon and back and it may not be my greatest, but it's my dearest. it deals with concepts of derealization and the feeling where you don't feel like living in your own body, your own life anymore and feeling so lost, but not having any desire to find your way back.

musings of a broken, undying heart (heeseung) : i adore all of my heeseung centred pieces to death and beyond. i struggled to choose one, but ended up settling with this bc i want more people to see it (and hoping people will read the rest of my hee fics haha). it dabbles around the idea of an immortal being loved (and loving) a mortal. one is cursed to stay for eternity and the other destined to return to the earth.

last goodbye (heeseung) : it's a short story of how everything you two were came to an end. it's one of my first ever works to upload here i think and i still remember the speed at which i typed the words and pressed that post button haha. i remember being super proud of the first three paragraphs and looking back at it, i still am.

under the candle light (heeseung) : this one is one of ABSOLUTE favourites, because it takes elements from leehi's song 'only' and combines it with this one section of je te lesserai de mot and i adore the atmosphere i had envisioned in my mind. my love for it runs so deep that i even wrote and actual song about it and maybe some time in the future i can share a snippet of it. it deals with the aftermath of a deep loss.

scars to your beautiful (heeseung) : i am convinced that he is my greatest muse, because all of my favourite works are about him. anyways, this is more reader-centric and deals with the struggles that come with accepting oneself and coming to terms with one's past actions and it's my most personal fic ever along with rain again (gaon).

for the tired (sunghoon) : is for my fellows who are going through a burnout or a slump and need someone to help you pick your pieces back up. i almost cried, because no one ever showed up for me the way he does here.

pretty little flowers (sunghoon) : is for my fellows who wanna read a hanahaki au, but only the part where the character is going through intense emotional anguish. also this happens to be one of my favourites. like, ever.

red lights (sunghoon) : is for my fellows who crave sadness and sorrow and anger and feeling lost. i am so sorry to have done this to him, but i am proud of how this one had turned out. it was actually from a longer fic, but it's been sitting in my drafts for two years now and i was never gonna complete it, so i just took out some of the last bits oof

after that incident, chan would greet her in the hallways or wherever if he ever comes across her

mc would always awkwardly greet him back

Amane meets Nene at the Tanabata festival, she’s older than him, but he falls for her instantly, fast forward, Amane is now in middle school, he’s a troublemaker, & gets constantly into fights, but he swears the new school nurse looks familiar... he then realizes it’s her and thinks it must be fate!!!... This one hits close to home bc I’ve been in this situation irl, so I can confirm all of Nene’s struggles are real (and ofc how a love with an age gap should be handled the correct way, this fic really teaches you many life lessons hahaha)

This autor has a bunch of good JSHK fics!! I recommend you check their AO3 out, bec you may find something you like for sure! But, this is my absolute fav from them. klance x pirates of the caribbean

bc apparently when i'm upset i listen to newsies live and think up weird klance aus

in my head this could go one of two ways:

keith and lance as will and elizabeth

keith and lance as jack and will (i'll explain later)

a lot more under the cut bc i got a bit carried away...

if it follows the canon love story i picture lance as will and keith as elizabeth. (i could see it the other way around bc keith could be the orphan pirate boy but i’ve written too much to go back now).

when they were young, keith was on a ship with his father and he spots lance on a piece of driftwood. they save him ofc and keith spots a jewel necklace around lance's neck. he takes it and later has it fused in the hilt of his mother's knife that is now his.

keith hates being the governor's son with a passion. he hates the formality of it and how restrictive it is. lance is the weaponsmaster's apprentice (that's how he gets good with a gun) and he is always under appreciated! give this guy some recignition!

anyway, he has been silently pining for keith for ages. little does he know, keith kind of likes him too. a lot of mutual pining has been going on for longer than either can recall.

anyhoo, pirates invade the town and kidnap keith. he puts up a fight but in the end he's outnumbered and taken aboard the ship as leverage. he says his surname is mcclain bc it's on his mind. wink wonk. captain of the evil pirates is zarkon and when the pirates who kidnapped keith hand him the knife he realises it is the jewel that can break their spell. since keith uses lance's surname, he also thinks it is keith's blood they need to finish the ritual since lance's family are the one's who sent the jewel away with lance. but it's not. obvs.

lance, after saving a baby, watches keith get taken in horror and tries to call out but is knocked out before he can act. once he's awake he hears that there's a pirate who was caught in the dungeon. that's allura. yes, eccentric captain allura is a choice i am making.

lance manages to break her out of jail, thinking she is one of the evil pirates and he can persuade her to help him. she is not but decides to help him anyway in an attempt to retrieve her ship 'the voltron' from zarkon. the two of them go off on a quest to save keith.

meanwhile, hunk and pidge are guarding keith. they are new recruits to zarkon's crew after their other crew threw pidge out when they discovered she was a girl (silly pirate superstitions). hunk went with her. they are easily persuaded to help keith bc zarkon's a meanie and promise that they'll help him out when they make it to land.

lance and allura arrive on an island and find coran who is allura's closest friend and ally. shiro is also there. he has a peg arm (is that a thing? idk it's a weird mechanism but it does the trick). coran explains that the ship keith is on is cursed and they will be going to the mysterious isle of daibazaal to break the curse.

they get there and watch zarkon attempt to break the curse using the jewel (which he pried out of the blade) and keith's blood. nah, it don't work. they still turn into creepy looking skeletons in the moonlight. damn. he threatens keith and then all hell breaks loose bc lance shoots him. it would have definitely killed zarkon but he can't die bc... the whole undead thing, and in doing so all lance does is reveal their position. they fight a bit, as you do. keith gets hold of a sword and kills three evil pirates in about five seconds. lance falls a little bit in love with him.

in the midst of the battle, lance makes a deal with zarkon that he will stay if keith and the others can go (this now includes hunk and pidge bc they helped keith get free). lance is stripped of visible weapons and zarkon agrees to break the curse immediately. lance cuts his hand and drops the jewel into the chest.

then he grabs keith's jewel-less knife from where it lies beside the chest. zarkon, distracted, doesn't notice until the blade is buried in his gut. he dies. keith and the rest act immediately and kill any other pirates who don't surrender. keith kills an evil pirate about to shoot lance.

they return keith in exchange for allura, coran, shiro, pidge, hunk and lance's pardon. keith expresses his wish not to be governor in the future and allura invites them on 'the voltron' ship with her since she reclaimed it from zarkon. keith and lance then have a moment where they thank each other for saving each other's life. keith thanks lance for coming after him and lance confesses. it's all very sappy and they kiss for ages.

OR

lance is still will. i stand by everything i said about him in the previous version. his parents caused the curse to endure and sent him off. but instead of keith finding him, it's allura. she's the governor's (in this case, alfor's) daughter. she takes the jewel and keeps it as a necklace. lance and allura are more like besties but they're not really allowed to see each other because of their differing classes.

keith arrives and escapes the navy. hides in weaponsmaster’s shop. lance tries to fight him but he’s not as good with a sword as he is with a gun. lots of sassy banter where lance is tryna be noble and keith doesn’t care for it.

anyway, we sort of know what happens. allura gets kidnapped and uses lance's surname bc they had a conversation beforehand. lance stresses, hears about a pirate they captured, assumes it's one of the evil ones he can persuade to help him.

but instead he gets keith who he met earlier. in the time they’ve been apart he’s got himself landed in the dungeon. and he’s notoriously one of the most stubborn, grumy pirate captains in all the seven seas.

he's overall unimpressed with lance as a person and with his plan, only agreeing when he realises he might be able to get his ship, this time called 'the red lion', back. lance decides he's going to prove himself to keith. he doesn't know why he's so offended by a pirate's opinion but he just is. hmmm...

they pick up shiro and coran, pidge and hunk promise to help allura out yada yada yada and they start making their way towards the island.

they run into lotor and his crew (acxa, ezor, zethrid etc) who are unrelated to zarkon and that whole... thing but they're your typical pirates and they want their stuff. which is annoying af bc allura is missing and they have somewhere to be thank you very much.

they put up a good fight. lance has plenty of opportunities to impress keith with his pistol skills. consider keith very impressed and mildly enamoured. but he doesn't do feelings so he stuffs them down inside him as you do. they win and move on. afterwards keith asks lance where he learned those moves and lance tells him stories of his time in the weaponsmaster's workshop. they bond.

they get to the island and find allura. they fight and keith and lance save each other's backs too many times to count. lance has a revelation (inconveniently mid battle) that he actually really likes this. this is fun. this is exciting.

then keith fucks up. he says that he'll hand lance over if zarkon gives him his ship back. lance is fucking fuming and feeling very betrayed and hurt bc he actually felt like he was getting somewhere with keith. keith gets what he deserves though bc zarkon dumps him and allura on an island and takes lance away.

while they're on the island allura knocks some sense into him regarding his life generally and lance specifically. she tells him loads of cute lance-as-a-teenager stories and keith feels awful. he helps her light a signal fire using some rum he has on his person.

they spot the ship alfor sent to find allura. they persuade them to go to where lance and the rest of the crew is. keith tries to act like he's on zarkon's side when they get back to the cave and then he takes one of the cursed jewels so he's now immortal. aha! while this is happening allura has infiltrated zarkon's ship, 'the red lion', so shiro, coran, pidge and hunk can be freed.

allura then frees lance from where they were keeping him in the hull. lance runs to where keith is. they share a look. keith cuts his hand and throws the jewel to lance who does the same and drops it into the water. the curse is broken. keith goes to grab zarkon's sword so he can kill him but zarkon grabs him by the throat. lance shoots zarkon in the side before keith can pass out. he runs to keith who has collapsed. keith apologises and thanks him and promises not to betray him again. lance laughs, says he better not and helps him up.

they return allura safely in exchange for their pardon. keith asks lance to join the crew of 'the red lion' and gives him loads of reasons that are really just disguised compliments. safe to say lance kisses him senseless and they run away together, sailing off into the sunset. bc. klance. there's got to be a sunset somewhere.

Some general Fun Facts™:

When I posted the first few chapters of this fic, I didn't have a fucking clue where it was going. I didn't even know how kravitz died until I'd already posted like 10 chapters lmao. This was a stressful way to write and I am never doing that again

In terms of inspo, I remember there being a fic in which taako was a ghost and kravitz was a medium (if anyone knows what fic this is PLEASE tell me I cannot find it) and I think I subconsciously took inspiration from this. Also I’d already written a vampire au and I wanted more undead boyfriend shenanigans, I looove playing with the liminal aspects of kravitz being a dead-but-not-dead character

There was a goof version of this fic where kravitz wasn't from the 1900s at all and died in like. The early 2000s or something. He died having come back from/at a costume party, people assumed he was an actual ye olde victorian ghost, and he decided to just lean into it. Cue fake accent. This was scrapped mainly because I loved the ‘sleepy hollow’-esque man-out-of-time shenanigans way too much and also because I know very little about the early-2000s US but do you know what I do know a moderate amount about? 1900s england

I have not read the cask of amontillado and I did not know what it was until seeing the memes, which was after I wrote the basement body twist. I just wanted to have a cheesy secret basement behind a bookcase c'mon it's a murder mystery in an old spooky house let me have this

Anyone who's followed my content for a while probably knows that I'm a big trans kravitz stan, but I dithered over making him trans in this fic a Lot. This was mostly down to self-doubt abt a story ft. a trans man living as his preferred gender in that time period would be deemed "unrealistic" but in the end I said fuck it I want this & I think that was the correct move. Also I read a fair bit about absolute legend dr james barry & that made me a bit more confident about committing to the decision bc these people did exist & they deserve their rep

You may notice that all of the major OCs created for this fic are women. This was an accident but also I stand by it bc I think it helps to balance out the fact that so much of the ‘screentime’ is being dominated by the male leads (inc. angus, who probably has the 3rd most screentime after taako & krav). They’re also all just, absolutely indomitable people. I have a type when it comes to OCs. Speaking of:

Notes on mira:

Mira was very much a character created to serve a purpose, but she ended up becoming a lot more than that and I'm glad people warmed up to her while reading as much as I did while writing. She wasn't going to have anywhere near as much screen time initially as she did in the end but I just loved her & how her relationship with kravitz turned out so much that I ended up writing a bunch of snippets with the two of them just for me, which eventually turned into the fragment chapters because I wanted to share how gd cute they were. Also they ended up being pretty useful for plot too lol

She and flossy were actually kind of the same character to begin with, being kravitz's best friend who he lived with in a kind of lavender marriage with neither of them interested in the other but being happy enough being friends & pretending. I scrapped this pretty early for a lot of reasons but she was still the cause of his death in that version, whether or not she actively killed him. I think there was a gambling debts element at some point

Whatever iteration of the story, she was always going to be the cause of death. I ruled out actual murder pretty early on because I didn't want to tell a story about a gay, black trans man getting murdered in cold blood in his own home, which in a ghost story only really leaves manslaughter, and an accidental killing by a loved one was an idea that followed pretty hot on the heels of that decision - it's very sad, but there's no hatred behind it, so it's not too outright depressing for what is most likely an audience with a high population of marginalised people. That bittersweetness of tone - sad events, but almost always with loving intentions behind or around them - ended up being a real touchstone for the story as a whole

In terms of post-canon content for her, or I guess just stuff that wasn't mentioned in-fic lol, my idea of how her life played out is that she was a pretty solid pillar of her community for a very long time. She took what kravitz said about thinking about what she wanted to add to the world very much to heart, and her answer was for her to be to as many kids and vulnerable people as possible what kravitz was to her. Obviously in the end she poured a lot of herself into helping others out of guilt for having killed a man who she likely remembered a little rose-tinted, but the intent was always there before that too

I don't know how much this came across in the actual text but mira is mixed race (Black/white), though she is Black-coded in terms of how people see and respond to her (please tell me if I’m using these terms incorrectly). I downplayed a lot of the racial elements of this fic bc I don’t feel like it’s my place as a white writer to delve into those areas, but it is an element of her story that ties into anti-miscegenation laws and general societal attitudes and I didn’t just want to entirely gloss over those aspects, bc that wouldn’t be right of me either, so I can only hope the balance ended up working here, and for kravitz’s story too. I did a lot of the writing for mira’s story before even really thinking about this angle which is something I’ve learnt from now bc oh boy should I have thought about it sooner lmao........

Anyway. I love her. I’m very glad that other people love her too

In terms of story writing:

I used to watch A LOT of crime dramas when I was younger, and got so familiar with the structure of them that I used to predict who the killer was going to be about a quarter of the way into them almost every time. Most of the time the killer is someone introduced early on as someone fairly innocuous, but still notable, before the narrative doubles down on a red herring suspect who's proven innocent about 3/4 of the way through, paving the way for the real twist killer. You see where I took my base structure from here

So, mira is introduced early on as someone important to kravitz, who was involved in his life (& death) somehow, but in general she's more suggested to be a victim than a culprit - because of course she is, she’s a child and she loves him! I'm only just realising now that this is a "person of interest" style plot twist here. (Remember what I said about the crime dramas? Just so many of them.) But then in the end she suffered just as much as anyone else, so I guess you could say she's both a victim and a culprit, even by accident.......

Structurally I'm actually really happy with how this turned out. In my head (BECAUSE OH BOY I DID NOT WRITE ANY OF THIS DOWN! Or at least not in a coherent way) the story was split into three mini arcs - the enemies section ending with the kitchen blowout, the friends section ending with the the bay window scene, and the lovers section which covers the rest of the fic. This ended up integrating really well with the main mysteries/pulls of the story - the first being the will-they-won't-they (they will, it’s fanfiction, but how?) of the romance element, and then once that's tapering off starting to dig more into the murder mystery element, which had been more of a subplot up until then, while the romance moves onto the back burner a little bit. The dual genre was an interesting challenge to try to balance and I think it turned out pretty well!

While I'm on this, setting up my breadcrumb trails for the plot twists was simultaneously very stressful and very rewarding. Trying to keep things obvious enough to be noted but subtle enough not to give the whole game away? Gave me so many headaches lmao. I actually thought for sure that some people would twig about the body in the cellar sooner than ch42, but then actually in ch42 way more people picked up on fisher's sniffing around than I expected. Clues are hard!! But at the same time seeing the handful of people who called mira as an adoptive daughter, or the fact that krav fell down the stairs, or the fact that mira's og parents were involved was very cool and it made me very happy to see people picking up the little stuff and putting it together

QUITE A FEW PEOPLE SAID NICE THINGS TO ME ABOUT HOW CLEVER THE PIANO TUNING ANGLE WAS. I CANNOT TAKE COMPLETE CREDIT FOR THIS. IT WAS A PLOT HOLE THAT I SUDDENLY REGISTERED OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE I WAS IN THE SHOWER & THEN ENDED UP WORKING IN SO I GUESS IT TURNED OUT FOR THE BEST & MADE ME LOOK VERY SMART BUT IT WAS AN ACCIDENT

Something else that a couple of people have noted & that I only realised in the process of writing was the fact that a lot of kravitz's ghostliness in this fic has the potential to be read as an allegory for chronic illness/disability. This was something I only caught onto myself while I was writing the scene on the porch at the end of ch42 when I was writing kravitz's dialogue and was like..... oh shit that's a thing huh. Bc he is, y'know, quite literally housebound and limited in what he can do in a lot of ways, which is part of the reason I really tried to hammer home in that chapter that even though the fic ends with him being 'cured' (because that ending was always the intention from day one before I ever thought about this reading), they would have been happy together regardless. Love is not conditional!

Post-canon thoughts:

Taako and kravitz go into the house. Kravitz says oh my god what is that smell. Taako says he made blueberry pie earlier. Kravitz says okay we're putting bedroom fun times on hold I need that RIGHT NOW

Kravitz eats way too much too fast and spends the rest of the afternoon curled up on the sofa with a horrible stomach ache. He is not used to that much rich food. Taako is not impressed with this

He rolls his eyes and they watch a movie and talk instead and get to the bedroom fun times later

On the topic of food you Know krav ends up with a bit of a tummy from taako spoiling him. He looks & feels great and taako loves how comfy he is

Also on the topic of bodies I think krav does a lot of experimenting initially with what feels good now that he has a lot more freedom in presentation. He likes to mess with his hair a lot. Dresses and skirts are still a bad feel but a little makeup is fun sometimes. Kravitz living his best undeath 2k18 (I took so long to finish this fic it’s set 2 years ago now lmaoooo)

Kravitz lets taako drive him somewhere exactly Once before vowing NEVER AGAIN taako's driving privileges are REVOKED kravitz is going to get magnus to teach him to drive instead.

Taako says what the hell are you gonna do if you get pulled over you are a hundred and thirty and also dead you can't get a license. (He could get him a fake one, but he's not going to, because he's being petty about kravitz insulting his driving.) Kravitz says fine show me yours then. Taako says no but kravitz steals it anyway. A minute later he’s produced his own undoubtedly fake license out of nowhere complete with a fake DOB and a very nice picture

Taako says gasp kravitz that's ILLEGAL. Also you know you have to make this picture worse if you want it to be convincing right

Kravitz starts giving angus music lessons. Angus isn’t a natural by any means but he works hard and that gets him a long way

OH ACTUALLY I SHOULD PROBABLY SAY SMTH ABOUT THE REUNIONS HUH. GINNY THESE ARE FOR YOU:

Maybe it's weird to start with barry but the poor man has to have a sit down. He has so many questions. Kravitz what is the afterlife like it's fine you can tell him just give him a hint please and also can he maybe get like. A blood sample or something. No that's not weird it's for science what are you talking about taako bring him back

Kravitz is fully expecting lup to wreck his shit, and she acts like she's going to right up until she's close enough to give him a big ol hug instead. She says she missed him a lot & that he's much nicer to hug now that he's not a freezy boy, and kravitz goes ;_;

It's a very tight hug though. In some ways it is still a punishment

Also could he maybe hook her up with this death goddess of his? Lup would like to be immortal too, kravitz. Kravitz can you get a resume to your boss and could you write lup a reference while you're at it

I think at some point they do go over to visit mira’s descendants. Taako says hi remember me? I brought my boyfriend to visit! Unnamed great great grandchild #1 is like um he looks kind of familiar. Kravitz says well yes there is kind of a reason for that and it’s because I’m in that picture on the wall over there, hi I’m your great great grandfather nice to meet you

The family is a little weirded out by this at first but eventually they’re like. Well alright I guess do you want a coffee

Kravitz says yes please god do you know how many people keep offering me tea

He babysits for the youngest ones sometimes. The kids love him and the adults are happy to give him stories in exchange for his time, seeing as that’s all he asks for

Taako says ask them for money and contribute to this household kravitz. Kravitz says absolutely not they’re family and you’re already getting my youtube ad revenue

Yes kravitz has a youtube channel and is also very involved in the local music scene. He can’t do anything that would technically be classed as interfering with the flow of the living world but no-one said he can’t anonymously share some of his music here and there

Reve

I LOVE the elves and I really wish that they would get some recognition. Did you know that Phantom Knights just calls Reve and Charla “Dorothy (reincarnated)” and “Charlotte (reincarnated)”? They’re different people!! They have NAMES. Why wouldn’t they use their names?? The elves have so much lost potential!

Anyway, Reve is also very chill. A sleepy queen. I have a LOT of headcanons about her. I also have an au where the elves stay after reincarnation and share their bodies with their hosts, and she and Dorothy are best friends and girlfriends and hang out in glamour world together and I love them.

Nebra and Nozel Silva

Listen,,, she’s so pretty,,, I’m gay,,,

But in all seriousness, she’s my favorite Silva. She’s just sort of a mean, sexy lamp in the manga/anime, but she gets slightly more character development in Phantom Knights, where you see that she’s at least an honorable knight who really cares about getting things done right and even goes above and beyond the call of duty; she’s a lot more mature than Solid, and it even seems that she’s more concerned about capabilities than status at some points (much to Solid’s surprise.) That doesn’t mean she won’t go out of her way to make trouble, which is fun. The wiki also suggests she has confidence issues which is super interesting to me. I’d like to see her grow as a character or get like... even a little bit of attention at all besides backing up Nozel and Solid and getting stabbed. I also think her magic is really cool... would love to see her actually use it sometime.

There’s more to her than her pretty, pretty face!! She’s probably my #1 favorite.

She’s so cute and the coolest witch. Love her chaotic energy. Love how she knows things she probably shouldn’t. Always shaking it up. Another sleepy queen. I wish I could sleep all the time and still get my work done. Also since I made her my icon on discord, I have been cheerier.

Charla

I’m so deep in headcanons for this one but see my earlier elf complaint with Reve before continuing. Okay, understand? Charlotte is awesome, but the sheer hilarity of Charla and Charlotte sharing a body is what make Charla so, so good. The LAST thing Charla did before going away forever is SNITCH on Charlotte to her crush. This elf loves drama. She would help Charlotte so, so much, but also make her life a living hell. We stan a queen who can’t mind her own business.

Alecdora Sandler

This man is hilarious. He’s a full grown man ready to throw hands with a 15 year old because William gives him attention. He fell in a hole and had to be saved. Yuno let him declare all his love for William and then obliterated him. It’s so funny. It’s what this asshole deserves. A perfect, satisfying character arc and a hilariously embarrassing personality wins him his place among my faves. I love to hate him so much. I’d like to put a picture of his stupid face in a locket to look at and give me strength in any situation. “At least I’m not this man child,” I would say. A smile would tug at my lips as a single tear ran down my face. “Thank you, Alecdora,” I would whisper, holding his image close to my heart.

My favorites tend to change around with my moods, so maybe on any other given day, you would find Charlotte Roselei, Paplo Espuma, or Kirsch Vermillion (post royal knights exam humbling) on this list. Charlotte is badass, Paplo cute, and Kirsch is funny with cool magic. Also working with Charlotte on my blog, @lawstaverse makes me fond of her, and I have some fun party boy headcanons for Kirsch and the Coral Peacocks. Mimosa Vermillion is also super duper cute. Honestly, Jien Du could even be on here for being accused of being evil and then going “let me clear things up” and then just doing the super villain laugh- also for having rainbow lights flashing around him when he fights. I can hear carameldansen playing in the distance whenever he’s doing stuff.

Fuegoleon Vermillion x Nozel Silva

This one is probably #1! They obviously care for and respect each other and a lot of Nozel’s dialogue gets... debatably romantic. I just really enjoy writing them in sort of ‘boys will be boys’ situations, where they can let their guard down around each other and their friends and be stupid and silly. I also love the idea of Fuegoleon being oblivious about how flirty he comes off. Nozel is pining but more in an annoyed way than a sad way. “No homo, bro,” says Fuegoleon, as he kisses Nozel on the lips and gives him a ring after they eat together and wrestle in the woods. Nozel rolls his eyes into the next solar system and admires his new wedding ring. Currently working on a 150k+ word slowburn bisexual disaster Fuegoleon fic with @thespiralgrimoire that involves this ship and the third on this list, along with tiny snippets of others.

Leopold Vermillion x Asta

Leo saw Asta do something cool and said “I’m done being classist. Actually I’m in love with you,” and never looked back. Every single Royal in Asta’s age group being obsessed with him is very very funny. I picture their relationship is much like Nozel and Fuegoleon’s as described above, but they’re BOTH extremely oblivious bros being romantic bros.

Fuegoleon Vermillion x Nebra Silva

Less my fave but still on here bc it’s fun. Nebra is fun, she can push Fuego out of his comfort zone, and also feel comfortable and confident with him. It’s nice. Ngl, anything that gives Nebra a chance to develop her character, whether it be in a friendly or romantic setting, is good.

Nebra is sexy. Fuegoleon is sexy. Together they are super sexy.

Reve x Dorothy Unsworth

I mentioned this briefly earlier, but they finally get someone who can share their world with them! Dorothy was so happy to have Reve in her head, and didn’t even regret being possessed at all. Also, Reve’s chill personality can balance out Dorothy’s excitable and unpredictable one! I think that them both being in dream world, with the magic power to look into each other’s minds(even more than other elf/human cohabitants) means that they can pretty easily become super duper close. They also have a space where they can physically meet. It’s kind of the best of both worlds.

Zara Ideale x Ina’s Father (did he really not get a name???)

There is no way you can convince me that Ina is not Zara and that man’s child. Look at their eyebrows. Rewatch episode 138. You’re lying to me if you tell me you don’t see it.

Nebra Silva x Zora Ideale

🤷🏽‍♀️ Punk and Prep is a fun combo, I like pitch romance, and the more info we get for Nebra, the more likely I see her willing to go vigilante and have a good time working with/ playing around with Zora. They both like to mess with people, Nebra appreciates a job well done, and Zora likes seeing people improve themselves. Nebra would def need to develop a bit for this to work, but I like to believe that would happen.

so her parent’s story was actually a pretty big scandal in the 90′s ! basically theo’s mom was the pretty famous front woman of a band ( think stevie nicks in fleetwood mac ) who was long engaged to the guitarist of that same band....until one day it was announced she was quitting the group and starting her solo career, leaving her fiance, and signing to a new label.....which was run by theo’s father, a young up & coming producer taking over the family business. not even three months later theo’s mom releases her first solo album, produced and co-written by theo’s father, basically detailing this years long affair the two had been having... in a series of really catchy, moving, and wildly successful songs. 

the public went crazy over the drama, especially when rumors started circulating ( through detailed analysis of the lyrics to all of theo’s mom’s solo songs ) that the well known band had actually been quite toxic. basically it was enough to convince media outlets and fans alike to forgive theo’s parents for being cheaters and breaking up the band JSDBWBDJWBD. by the time theo was born in the last year of the iconic decade that launched both her parents into stardom, everyone couldn’t be happier the two stars were getting the happy life they deserved <3

so here comes baby theo.....and the world kind of just immediately labels her as america’s sweetheart. her mom had some minor health issues which just meant it would be safer to not have anymore kids after theo, so not only was she this little angel to the public, she was also her parent’s little miracle baby ! lets just say she had some big shoes to fill bc of all the expectations ..

luckily no one had to worry abt her being a demon child JSBDJWDWJ because she turned out to be a very sweet kid ! she was a HUGE daydreamer since she spent a lot of time alone growing up </3 her mom had retired from singing and was now helping theo’s dad run the label, and the two of them were always busy looking for new talent to sign. she didn’t have any siblings and although she had a really attentive nanny it just .. wasn’t the same ?? so to #Cope JSBDWBSBDJW theo was always creating these super elaborate little fantasy worlds. it wasn’t uncommon for u to find her deeply engrossed playing barbies alone like she had scripts and everything 

by the time she was a preteen her parents were both really pressuring theo into thinking about a singing career, so wanting to please them ( and knowing that it was something she was kinda into anyway ) theo said ok sure ! and that’s where.....things start to take a turn. since she was so young she had this very very clean, innocent, cute image ( think disney stars ) & most of the music she was making was used for kids shows or movies. she didn’t really mind it so much but she noticed that her creative process wasn’t really valued ? or taken very seriously by her parents, because in their eyes like that’s their kid you know she’s still young, she’s always had her head in the clouds, they just really didn’t think it was a big deal if they took control. 

so theo put up with it, but the years kept going by, she kept getting older, and nothing was really changing. she still had a squeaky clean image, little say in the type of music she was making, but on the outside everything looked great. the public loved her, she was a role model for kids ( even though she was a teenager now ), it was all perfect.....until it wasn’t. when she was 16, she had a scandal akin to the vanessa hudgen’s nude photo leak, except it wasn’t as explicit ( not a nude, just a suggestive pic ) and it was way way worse considering theo was a minor. 

legal action was immediately taken by her parents, but once something’s out there you can’t really stop it from circulating, so the photos existed, just not on any official media sites. it was traumatizing for theo having her privacy breached like that, especially because instead of talking about how disgusting it was that someone would leak those photos when she was just a teen, gossip sites & fans alike were too busy talking about how her image was ruined. since she’d had such a clean, innocent reputation, people kinda forgot that... she was an actual person going through life growing up, and that she wasn’t perfect. 

theo, being the optimist she is, was like hey you know what? this is my chance to stop making music i dont love. after what was probably her first truly honest convo with her parents, they agreed she should be free to figure herself and her art out. so for the remainder of her teenage years theo fell off the face of the music world....

only to pop back up in the modeling one ! like most celebrities, social media had a big say in this. since reputation wasn’t something theo had going for her anymore, what she did have was a hell of a following still and two famous parents ( not to mention ... shes tall JSBDJWBDWJ ) she did maybe one runway show before deciding she hated that. tbh she hated any modeling that felt too constricting, which is why she never ended up doing anything for big names & mostly does stuff for foreign brands & magazines. 

she liked how much aesthetics had to do with modeling, and to some extent being a part of shoots satisfied that creative itch she had, but music was always her first love. theo really wanted to go back and revisit it, but she was scared the public’s reaction wouldn’t be what she hoped /: 

so following in her mother’s footsteps, theo’s re entrance into the music scene was an ep ( 100% written, produced, edited, you name it, by her ) she released on the eve of her 18th bday basically explaining everything she went through with art. it was only four songs + an interlude, which would become the most talked about part of the whole thing because it was snippets of various reporters talking about that photo leak.

the public had mixed feelings ! unlike with what happened with her parents, not everyone was ready to “forgive” theo. and since she hadn’t done any promo for her music, or for her career as an artist independent from her parent’s famous label, it wasn’t like she was making crazy money and getting all this recognition. but !! she was insanely insanely happy, and that’s when she realized making music wasn’t something she did for other people, just something she liked to share, so what did it really matter if she could be more famous if she was an artist under her parent’s label ? 

cue present day theo, model & singer, although the labels are pretty loose. although her music is getting way more recognition than it did three years ago, she’s still trying to do things independently from her parents, and she still has yet to become a chanel ambassador or anything crazy SDWBKWKFW. because of that she’s kind of garnered this new reputation for herself as one of those celebs that don’t really feel like celebs, like maybe she’s just like u except let’s be real she’s rich and her experiences are NOT universal even if her cute insta pic talking about ~her feelings~ in the caption makes u think they are

CHILDHOOD / FAMILY FRIENDS: their famous parents were friends, so it’s only natural they wanted their kids to be friends too. just imagine the stories ..... the memories .... maybe they got along really well and are still friends today ! or maybe theo pushed your muse off of the swings ( she claims it was an accident ) and your muse never forgot and to this day they’re sworn enemies.....</3 or less dramatic......they just drifted apart and now it’s like hey we used to be so close aha thats awkward let me just smile at you and walk away ....

More Of A Cat Person

Your apartment door was still locked when you got there. That was a good sign, right? Inside, nothing was over turned or in a place you don’t remember being there. The lights were off apart from the dim lights in the kitchen – you always leave them on, so you don’t come home to pitch-black-darkness.

“I’ll go get Euina.”

“Pack a small bag.” Sehun suggested with a small smile. You left him to rest his ankle on one of the bean bags and rushed into your bedroom, stopping to sit on the edge of the mattress next to her. You gently placed a hand on Euina’s shoulder and rocked her slight.

“Wake up little dove.” You whispered, watching as her eyes fluttered open.

“Unnie? What time is it?” She answered, her voice scratchy and her eyes squinting as you switched on the light.

“It’s almost five in the morning. Something happened, and we have to stay someplace else for a few nights. You can go back to sleep in the car, okay? Can you get a change of clothes ready for me, little dove? We have to be quick.”

She got out of the bed and went to her little chest where she kept her clothes. “What happened? Are you okay?” She asked, her attention on her hands. She had always been good at listening to you when you were serious. And she knew you hated waking her up, so it must have been serious.

“I can explain it better later, okay, when we’re out of here.” You replied, grabbing a handful of black leggings and shoving them into one of your hiking backpacks.

“How long are we leaving for?” you heard Euina ask from behind you. Shrugging, even though she most likely didn’t see you, you opened your underwear draw and shoved a handful of underwear and three different bras into the bag.

“A couple of days, i don’t know.” You replied after a few seconds.

“A few days? Then we need to take Tuttle!”

Your motions froze for a second as you came to remember that you owned a pet. A small cat, affectionately names Tuttle as a kitten by your sister. She wanted to call him Turtle but at the young age of three when she was still getting the hang of pronunciation. Tuttle was almost ten years old, small yet mischievous (she really liked knocking mugs off of tables) and she loved being cuddled. She was a Russian Blue, her fur on the darker side of steel-grey with big, round green eyes that seemed to always be curious. Tuttle was a present for your twelfth birthday however, you had let Euina name her because you wanted to share her with your baby sister. You always wanted to share things with Euina, especially after your parents had left.

“Well, we’ll just take her with us. Don’t bother with her cage just grab her okay, I’ll get some packets of food in a minute.” You concluded, zipping up your bag. “And before you get her, grab another pair of my trainers please.” You walked from your room to your bathroom, shoving practically all of the contents you own from the shelves into a zip lock bag. You threw it onto your bed next to Euina’s open bag before making your way back into the main room of your apartment. You spotted Sehun straight away, he wasn’t sitting anymore but you didn’t particularly care at this moment - you didn’t have the tome to. You flipped the switch to brighten the lights and grabbed a plastic bag from a metal shelf free-standing next to the fridge.

“We have food.”

You swore your eyes could have rolled into the next dimension. You weren’t an idiot, there were at least seven people living under the roof Sehun called home - of course they had food. You’d be willing to bet that there were even more of them - considering the snippets of conversations you heard about names people you hadn’t met yet.

“Do you have cat food?” you asked, making your voice light and innocent, turning to face him with a small smile, tying the plastic handles in a knot. Sehun’s confused expression dropped at your words, before his brow began to furrow. He looked confused. /Cute/. The smile on your face grew naturally, you didn’t even feel it as you patted his shoulder to move past him. You walked back to your bedroom to help Euina finish up but you could hear him following.

“Why do you need cat food?” He asked once you were in the room. Apparently, both of you had forgotten that Euina had no idea he was here. She turned to face him before you did, mouth open and eyes narrowed.

“For Tuttle, who areyou?” She asked, zipping her back closed with a sharp tug.

“Sehun. Who’s Tuttle?”

“My cat.” You replied, picking her up from where she had padded over to you on your bed. You turned to face him with a small smile but, when you looked up to see the expression he was pulling you couldn’t help but let out a loud laugh. He was glaring, at Tuttle, like she was his worst enemy. He looked like a mix between a toddler who had just had his favourite toy taken away and a man who was extremely close to losing his shit after a long day of listening to his annoying desk partner. You handed Euina Tuttle.

“Let’s go, shall we?” You grabbed both Euina’s and your bags having packed everything into them – you were efficient, they fit. However, before you could sling both of them over your shoulders, Sehun grabbed one of them and slung it over his own – broad– shoulder. You didn’t know which one he had but you suspected that it didn’t really matter. Euina left before the both of you, Sehun trailing after the thirteen-year-old like a lost puppy, and you switched off the lights before scanning the room in case you left anything. You grabbed a small cat toy from the floor.

“We’re taking my car.” You announced, making your way back into the main room, giving the carrot toy to Euina for Tuttle to play with. “I’m driving.” You cut Sehun off, his mouth opened as if to protest. “Danbi said not to use your ankle.” You reminded him quietly, patting his shoulder. You made the split decision to switch off all the lights (you didn’t know when you’d be coming back, and you were not paying an extra bill for lights on during the day) and grabbed all the keys from the bowl you kept them in. You lived on the third floor of the eight-floor apartment block, you didn’t have to use the elevator – it was quicker to use the stairs anyway – so, you used the stairs. Your car was parked in your usual spot. You didn’t need to use your car very often, only when you were taking Euina back to your aunts or if you wanted to visit one of your favourite food places on the other side of town, but it wasn’t like you couldn’t drive.

Both Sehun and Euina were quiet as the three of you found your car, a black five-door Ford Focus (you didn’t know much else, you don’t particularly care about cars), and piled in. Euina sat in the back with Tuttle, laying down over the seats, seatbelt around her waist. You always had blankets in your car, in case she wanted to sleep or if she got cold, so she simply grabbed one to pull over herself. Tuttle scooted under one of Euina’s arms, paws next to her face. You knew Euina had questions, you could tell by the tone of her voice when she said she’d try and sleep more, but you were grateful she kept them to herself for the time being.

You honestly had no idea what you would tell her.

Once out on the roads you turned to Sehun, having come to a conclusion. “Where do you live?” You asked lowly. You switched on the radio (The CD player – you were never one for listening to adverts) and turned the volume down to almost a mumble, so the car wasn’t silent. You knew Euina couldn’t sleep in silence.

“Turn left, I’ll direct you.” Sehun answered. You turned left.

After what felt like an hour (fifteen minutes) of nothing but the music too low for you to focus on and Sehun’s occasional chiming’s of where to go you had to break the non-silent-silence. “What am I going to tell her? She’s not stupid. And she knows when I lie.” You asked. You weren’t sure why you added the last part, you hardly knew Sehun – he didn’t need to know you couldn’t lie to your baby sister to save your life. “Am I even allowed to tell her about you guys? Was I even allowed to know? What–”

Sehun cut you off, placing a large hand on your knee. You wanted to look down at it, but you kept your eyes on the road. It was beginning to get lighter as the early morning broke its way through the horizon, but it was still quite dark, and you had no idea where you were going. “You would’ve known eventually.” He said quietly, after a few seconds.

“I would’ve?” Your voice was just as quiet. Your shoulders relaxed, not that you had stiffened when his hand came into contact with your knee, not seeing the need to be ‘at odds’ with him. Not right now anyway.

He nodded, a movement you caught from the corner of your eye. “I would’ve told you eventually.” He paused. “In fact, I think I may have blurted it out on our date, if you had gotten the chance to accept. Turn right.”

A smile crept on your face as you slowed to turn. You had been driving for almost half an hour by now. It was a strange feeling, the emotions you felt in your tummy. Your eyebrows creased in confusion. “Why me?” You asked, voice a dash above a whisper.

He heard it nonetheless.

“It’s a wolf thing.” Was his reply. Was it just you or were things getting a little awkward. God, you hated awkward. His words sparked a feeling of de-ja-vu in your head. Now, you had read the Twilight Saga: sparkly vampires and raging werewolves. You had a thing for werewolf, ironic to know now, but Euina had taken a liking to the series in both book and film form.

“Did you just quote Twilight?” You almost laughed. He did laugh. You joined in not long after, sparing a glance at his profile. He really was quite pretty.

“Not quite.” He looked back at you. You looked back at the road. “Next left.”

You left your question alone for a few minutes, biting down on your lip in a poor attempt to keep it from slipping. ‘What’s a wolf thing?’ Before you could actually ask, you took the turn and not even a minute later the outline of a house could be seen. As you drove closer, the house grew bigger (perspective, a funny thing) and bigger. The house, if you could call it a house, was huge. It seemed to have at least three floors, with seven windows lining the front of the building. The walls were white, the bottom floors walls had been replaced with ceiling high windows – a warm light coming from what you assumed was a living room. The drive way was long and the land that surrounded the house seemed to conceal it. It was beautiful. You looked back to him with an astonished look. “You live in a mansion?”

Sehun broke into a laugh again, “I do.” He nodded with a grin forming on his lips. “With my eleven brothers and three of their mates.” He pointed across the car and you followed, stopping next to another car. This spot would have to do. The word mate had caught your ears, ringing around them as if the word was the most important word for you right now. You shook your head a little and took the keys out of ignition.

“I knew there’d be more of you.” You mumbled, hands falling into your lap, one brushing his on the fall. Neither of you went to move. You finally looked down at his hand on your leg, a small wave of butterflies flying through you as you finally recognised the gesture. They were gone after a moment. When you looked up, Sehun was already looking at you. His eyes shone green once again. You knew you had to ask your question. Or maybe you’d do something you’d regret with your sister in the back of the car.

You knew you were attracted to the man next to you. You knew that there was a connection between the two of you. You also knew that he was a werewolf. A werewolf like the ones from your favourite myth. It had been a while since you had re-read it, but you knew the just of mates. Although, you had never quite understood the term. Before you chickened out (you were no chicken) you moved a hand over his and asked your question. “What’s a wolf thing?”

He took a few seconds to, well, move. His eyes zeroed in in where your hand held his, which held your knee. Then his eyes met your own and he opened his mouth to answer. A small meow filled the silence before he could. Your eyes closed, a smiled forming as you tried to keep your laughter from escaping.
