not enough discussion about the gavins' complicated relationship with feminine-coded/beauty products, i don't think.

#for klavier because it's not as direct it's about how we never see him actually wearing lipstick? even though apollo literally attends #a concert of his which is where you'd most expect him to wear makeup. but apparently he just doesnt. or at least not in public #klavier gavin #kristoph gavin #i feel like there are several ways you can read into it. the misogyny/toxic masculinity one is really obvious clearly with kristoph's #singling out of men specifically and klavier's (probably accidental?) condescending manner of calling women 'fraulein' plus his general #mildly patronising attitude towards many of the women in the game (also probably unintentional)#(i think he's trying to be charming and it's coming off wrong to some of them. like ema. and me.)#but i feel like there's also maybe an element of... inherent perfecfionism to it? like both of these products are conventionally beautifyin #products and kristoph while he is open to showing people he uses nail polish specifically chooses one that's clear and missable unless you #see him apply it. he also feels the need to justify his use of it and specifically spell it out as something he chooses to do rather than #needs to do even though duh. that should be obvious.#idk there's just something about his seeming need to take control of that narrative that i find interesting. his need to spin it into a #'there's nothing wrong with my nails but I had the foresight to see that even the smallest parts of my appearance should be kept immaculate #and it's a choice i'm making to refine an already adequate part of my personage /not/ to cover some unsightly defect.' the need to emphasis #that specifically is so. hm. and with klavier i could see it being a case of him liking makeup liking the pops of colour yet being unwillin #to admit to it because he's afraid that other people might see it as him being dissatisfied with his own appearance regardless of if he is #or isn't. or even just perceiving colourful makeup as being unseemly because it's so overt and unnatural.#like i can see this as them both viewing 'real' beauty to be that which is inherent to a person and seemingly effortless #thus somehow negating the beauty which one achieves through cosmetics or other external means.#and if you want to use external means to achieve beauty or neatness or whatever then your only valid options are those which blend into you #natural state. like clear nail polish. or really awful spray tan.#i feel like klavier's less confined by these ideas (if they hold merit at all) considering he actually owns coloured lipstick and he wears #jewellery (admittedly quite 'masculine' jewellery no gems or pearls or anything like that but jewellery nonetheless) but i think it just #makes it more interesting that he doesnt seem quite able to cross the line anyway. like it's that ingrained into his system.#anyway that's all i've got. you guys should tell me what you think too #annotations

piece i did for the isat palette challenge thing !! i got a very green palette obviously and i was more than happy for the excuse to use my hoard of grass brushes :3

i have a question abt the griffons in veilguard.

how old are they supposed to be? or i suppose more accurately, how do dragon age's griffons. well. age?

assan's clutch was recovered in 9:42, and presumably hatched that year. veilguard seems to take place in 9:52, which would make assan at most 10 years old. adult griffons, according to the wiki, are usually 12 feet nose to tail and weigh over a thousand pounds. assan, and the other griffons, are nowhere near that size.

so as far as i can tell (this is based off of information from a few conservation sites, if you know lions or eagles and ive massively fucked up here please feel free to correct me):

lion cubs begin approaching adult size by 12 months old, and reach full adulthood around 3-5 years old. they seem to range from about 4 to 10 feet long.

eagles reach adulthood and begin breeding at around 5 years. i struggled to find specific fledging ages, but most species seem to have been on their own for at least a few years before reaching breeding age.

eagles and lions seem like fair comparisons, since they're the component animals of griffons, and they're solitary and pack hunters, respectively - given that we don't know much abt griffon social behaviour, i can't really speculate as to whether they would leave the nest and fend for themselves within a year or two, or be able to rely on the support of a group, but it doesn't look like either option would massively alter how quickly they would develop. so i feel pretty safe assuming both a. griffons probably reach full adulthood by around five years old, maybe a few years longer given that they're pretty big animals, and b. even if not fully grown, griffons would be large enough to hunt for and defend themselves within a year or two - and probably close to adult size.

effectively, it makes no sense to me that assan and the other griffons, after 10 years, are still only about the size of large dogs? if they were a second generation, or were only hatched around 9:50, then okay, sure, but since they're from the clutch valya found, and there's no mention of adult griffons anywhere. yeah. i don't get it.

so yknow. if i missed something rly obvious in veilguard, or anyone has. any kind of explanation really. please tell me?

for maximum hijinks, silliness, and incompatibility on all sides.

#I think Tails and Shadow would hit it off best tbh #Tails states in Battle that he respects Shadow and afaik Shadow's feelings on Tails are mutual #Espio would NOT be impressed with Rouge's manners and I think she'd love to try and be the biggest pain towards him like she does to Knux #though on the other hand they both have a mission-focused mindset so they can find common ground there mayhaps #for Knux and Metal I figure Knuckles is really suspicious of what Metal is meant to be doing and he goes along to ensure Metal behaves #I don't think he'd believe a possibility that Metal turned good or anything like that #they'd part with the worst feelings between them out of everyone #and considering Silver's behaviours in the Rivals games I think it'd take a WHILE for him to warm up to Sonic XD #but Sonic knows how to deal with frosty snappy people (like Blaze in Rush) so I think they could work something out there #as long as Sonic shows himself to be fully on Silver's side and supporting of his cause Silver will be willing to cooperate with him #except then SURPRISE he's gonna get injected with seventy-three shots of pure Power Of Friendship when he least expects it lol #Espio commits crimes for Silver; Sonic turns Silver into his Colours DS self over the span of like two days XD #anyway it has been an exhausting Christmas and this is what it culminated in in my mind #the chances of me making an actual fic out of this are honestly 0 I'm sorry #but it's fun to imagine how the teams would work and why they're cooperating when switched up like that ^-^
