I really want to share his art over here and also translate his posts for you all because I think his commentaries are quite insightful for people who are interested in character design!

If you draw your favourite things out you will know them better! So, this is Edward Elric from #FullmetalAlchemist.

Even if you have decided on the pose you want to draw, it is better to sketch out these three first:

the moment before the pose is struck

the pose itself

the moment after the pose is struck

then decide which image works better for your art. I learned this from a really great senior of mine, and it is very solid advice.

Well it’s official: EarthSpark is dead. The next cartoon is being worked on as we speak.

Via Protoman of the Slag Podcast on TFW2005:

“All I will say is my source is someone working on the next Transformers series and *spoiler* it's not Earthspark.  Ratings were bad, toys have had a very soft distribution restocking (It's not about how much that Wave 1 is ordered, it's how much gets reordered after by retail wave after wave) and well....... better luck next time.”

As of typing, we dunno.

The only successful non toy media currently are the Skybound comics, and while TFONE is coming out this September, we have no idea how well that will do. The general confusion and backlash from the more comedically cut first trailer doesn’t … bode well from normies and hard cores.

One is said to have tested well, but so did RotB and it didn’t do so hot in theaters despite people liking it better. It’s still doing VERY well on Paramount+, but I don’t know if that means anything because P+ is the red headed step child of streaming… Also Paramount’s current… EVERYTHING.

So big coin flip really.

A cartoon based more directly on what One sets up makes sense, a lot of people have said it looks like a pilot for a future cartoon anyway.

An anime adaption of the Energon Universe is also possible, but it’s a little … too soon and if they adapted it now it would basically be the first Dragonball Z and first FMA anime, taking liberties and going its own direction because it couldn’t realistically keep up with the manga.

Best case scenario: a new co produced Transformers anime that uses TFONE & Skybound as a spring board for its own ideas.

What becomes of the Terrans in the future? I hope you weren’t attached to them being their own species because I guarantee it’s gonna be like post Beast Wars stuff.

The Terrans will largely just be Autobots and Decepticons like how the Maximals and Predacons tend to be like Cyberverse Cheetor and EarthSpark’s own Tarantulas.

RotB at the very least reinvigorated the Maximals as a faction, but the Predacons are largely missing from modern televised and comic media. They’re kinda there post WFC, but Transmetal II Megatron is curiously labeled a Prime Predacon…

The Prime Predacons are great but still…

Hasbro remains very weird about non Autobots and Decepticons. Mini-Cons kinda luck out by having the Cassettes be retroactively be Mini-Cons, but screw you if you want proper Maximals, Terrans, Predacons. Terrorcons are another current anomaly that I don’t know will make the cut either.

As it stands, expect Twitch and Spitfire to be Mini-Cons, Aftermath a Decepticon, and everyone else an Autobot, with Jawbreaker specifically as a Dinobot. Whether he gets used just as much as Slash remains to be seen. -sarcastic-

Sorry its so late buf i am in an Edling mood tonight and I will never stop thinking about the idea of how theyre the epitome of right person wrong time.

(obviously in a context of like fandom shenannigans where canon events arent 100% set in stone like edling arent canon but also idc !! they are to me! im ignoring it let me be insane) ANYWAY

Even if they wanted to be together post promised day Ling has all the responsibilities of Xing and his clan and Edward would never hold him back from that for a second. Im of the opinion that brotherhood Edward feels a lot of guilt for wanting love from the people around him particularly those he sees as good (winry, alphonse, etc) especially if hes done things hes perceived as hurting them (maes’ death, the transmutation, etc etc). Which is why I think Edward connects with Ling so well cayse he doesnt carry the weight of a lot if his past mistakes, and then when the stone happens its like goddamn it i roped this guy into my shit again. Like i dont know Edward doesnt really dedicate himself so fully to people outside of winry and ed a lot so its interesting like!!

He cares about a lot of people like the majority of the allied cast and we see him be openly affectionate towards Nina and Hughes pre their deaths but I think Ling is the only person hes ever decided to stick with WITHOUT alphonse? I may be wrong but the whole sure Ill stay with you and trust my brother and Winry to stay safe and follow you around the outskirts of the east for a week till the promised day to protect my new friend is so??? what?? huh???

But anyone my point is post promised day Edward cant really ever see a future with Ling because of all the responsibility Ling holds outside of him and its veyr tragic imo like especially because in a different scenario if Ling didnt have those responsibilities and Edward wasn’t so dedicated to the people around him to a fault of never thinking about his own desires I think they could have the possibility of a future.

Like I have read a lot of fanfiction abiut Ed traveling to Xing and living with him there but?? I realistically cant see him ever doing that just solely because Edward is not the type of person to settle down! like its my one and only criticism of the fma manga is that I cannot see Edward ever being satisfied with a simple life? Like even in Fma 03 which is my favourite interpretation of Edwards character once he gets stranded in our world he learns?? Rocket Science?? For the chance to get back to Amestris but he doesnt really seem to take that goal all that seriously especially considered Alfons ends up getting involved in a lot more aircraft projects than Edward like Edwsrd genuinely enjoys learning!!

Im pretty sure he was the one who dragged Alphonse into Hoenhiems office when they were kids after he left, probably to Al’s reluctance of if they were allowed in there, and started ripping through all of his old books just to learn. Edward never stops and it gets so bad that he never stops to even consider himself constantly worrying about getting his brother back or improving the states of others lives especially when! ya know! the whole country is at stake!!

So in a circumstance post promised day where Ed decides what he wants to do (my personal favourite interpretation is either an alchemical researcher outside of directly performing alchemy, ie revolutionizing the circle matrixes and discovering nee combinations or becoming a professor of some kind) I dont think he would give that up to settle again. And obviously Ling cant exactly up and leave being Emperor unless he decides he doesnt want to, im not the most knowledgable on Lings characterization so I wont speak there but!

They have so much fun together and compliment each other and genuinely care about each other so much but their happiness and fulfillment as people to themselves and others make it so its nearly impossible they would ever realistically end up together and its really doomed and tragic!! idk i think about it a lot.

fma ramblin no1curr

Back when I read more fanfics, I honestly never cared much for post-canon royai with Roy being president. It’s not inherently always bad. I can be convinced there are good scenarios. Or I just don’t care because it’s more about OTP making out anyway. But I just never liked Roy being the president, him being elected to that position and the general public always loving him. All the while he does Good™ (read modern (American) politics the author likes). While Riza gets to play (USA style) First Lady™ and/or the (house)wife that smiles pretty and waves..... 

I just don’t think it fits or would happen like that.

Roy wants to become fuhrer, aka military dictator. He is not going to be elected. If he does not choose violent takeover, then the only people he needs to impress are (fellow) generals and get them to all agree Mustang is the best dictator for the role. The general population not rioting in the streets when Roy is dictator is a bonus, but the people of Amestris have no voting rights. 

But also, why is it the assumption that Mustang would be very populair? The general public is oppressed, has no free media, no fair laws, like shown in the Maria Ross arc. Even someone born in the warzones, like Ed and Al, have been completely ignorant on what actually happend. The general population has no idea that Amestris is the constant aggressor. They believe they are the victim under attack from the outside. And the people living away from the borders, the upper class, and the people who don’t rock the boat (aka everyone beside the protags) seem to have pretty normal lives in their ignorant bliss. They do not know any different because different perspectives are not accessible. Bradley was actually popular and well liked for a reason. So Mustang changing the whole current military gouvernement structure and power balances isn’t gonna instantly win fans there lol.

Actually Mustangs main goal as military dictator as stated by Hawkeye are

Give political power back to the parlement and have them do elections (again).

Demilitarise the public institutions, including removing the state alchemist program.

Reform military law to make war crimes, well, crimes. And then also apply those laws retroactively, including on themselves.

Of course there is other things Mustang can care about. Like not having constant wars with all the surrounding countries and national security. But if the parlement is back in power, why would Roy, as the military dictator/commander in chief, become the elected president when his whole life goal was to separate those institutions in the first place? Just makes no sense to me.

It’s then the actual prime minister/presidents job to worry about the local hospital or factory worker rights or pension or whatever. Roy can focus on idk.. Creta inventing air plane bombers or whatever.

And Riza doesn’t have to smile pretty and wave and do charity speeches or be The (house)wife™ simply because she is the woman and thats the stereotypical woman’s first lady role. I don’t think she would enjoy being a public figure smiling and waving anyway. She can stay a bodyguard, if she wants to. Or decide that Roy reached his goal and retire with her 12 dogs on a farm out East, lmfao.

Since I'm posting some art, let me post the rest.

My most recent doodles I finisheddd yesterday. Two au ideas are present - fma 03 sonic au (Wrath as a mobian!!!!! He's not a bunny or a fox. He's a lynx, Ed's limbs are fox limbs.) And the second is an au with a different outcome of ep 51, where Ed and Wrath share Wrath's body Greedling style. Will I elaborate? ... Not for the time being.

Major spoilers for CoS below the cut.

I was high af when I was making this; But, Wrath survives au! Yes I know he's a homunculus so i shouldn't have to gague his injuries in order to see how more messed up his body would be, but he also doesn't have access to a lot of red stones - which Lust states is what enduces the regenerative processes, as if they are torn out of your stomach or they're thrown up you're weakened and won't be able to regenerate. It also is shown that it takes a decent amount of time for Wrath to regenerate, after Lust stabs him in the head and then runs off with Ed. I think that has something to do with how his original human body (bones, hair, skin, and all) were used in the human transmutation to bring him back, which canonically does make him weaker. I say it makes him hav3 scars left over from his fights and stuff, but that's also bc I like it when scars show up and STAY.

But yeah anyway uhh, Wrath's kinda fucked. Especially if he truly does have to eat (which homunculi dont have to but, again, Wrath is different from them - even if we dont know just how different, it is clear he does need to sleep and had eaten like a starving boy when Izumi and Sig fed him.) and therefore use his digestive system.

He did eat stones, he ate uhh. Around 9 red stones, give or take, before fighting with Gluttony. So that *could* give him the opportunity to heal the major damage - the airways, maybe the organs, and some of the broken bones or broken parts of his nervous system. But I doubt he'd of been able to heal everything, and I doubt his body would've healed correctly when it comes to his bones. They most likely healed in the wrong places, giving him a crooked spine or something of the sort. (Fucked up my boy :( )

As I wrote in big letters, I don't know enough about homunculi to decipher what would harm him that badly, let alone homunculi like Wrath, who is clearly a bit different than the others. Which is why I'm stating that he'd have some more humanic injuries for my piece of mind.

And I know what you're probably wondering, "But Giovi!!!!!!! Wrath was used, along with Gluttony, to open the Gate on the Armestrian side with Alphonse!!! How the hell are you making him survive with that still in mind!?", and to that I say, my friend, I know. I have that scene memorized in my head, but that's not the point.

I was thinking that when Wrath goes to the Gate, sees Izumi, supposed to be heartbreaking reunion, BUT BAM! Wrath gets a bit fearful, or something of the sort as it is Wrath, due to it being Izumi, he's scared of how she'll perceive him due to how many times he's turned her away, how they spent literal years leading up to her death dancing around each other and the trauma of it all - so he goes through the Gate like Envy did, avoiding death because he can't accept Izumi just yet. He rather embrace the Gate, something he is completely terrified of, than embrace Izumi just yet. Despite longing got it so bad to the point of wanting death, he couldn't do it. So he ends up innn "our world", probably comes through the Gate on the "our world" side and they're like 'oh shit a dead body, anyway' after Ed leaves.

Again, I'm still thinking this au, as well as the other two aus I've brought up, over because they're work in progresses. I'm insane, yes I know.

In case anyone wants to know the premise of the FMA mobile Valentine's Event:

It seems to be a dream sequence. There's this novel called Two Phantom Thieves that has become a sensation across Amestris, and everyone, including Roy Mustang, is reading it. He falls asleep while doing paperwork and imagines himself and Hawkeye as the titular thieves. It seems they have a rivalry, always hunting the same treasure. On their latest heist, they are caught in a trap set by Detective Hughes (with Havoc and Breda on his squad), and instead of fighting for the treasure, they have to work together to escape.

That's as much of the first chapter I got through anyway, because the fight sequence is either stupid hard or I really don't understand how to use these units lmao.

EDIT: It gets better lmao. Thanks to @qs63 for the tip to get through it.

After escaping, Phantom Thief M (Roy) asks Phantom Thief H (Riza) to look at the moon with him and chat for awhile. She expresses her gratitude that their combined effort allowed her to escape. Roy says something along the lines of "We work well together. If we joined up, we could steal any treasure in the world." Riza is not keen on the idea. Apparently, she steals for the poor, while Roy steals for the wealth and fame. He says he has higher goals than wealth and fame and wants to change things from the top. Riza is surprised at the idealism and asks if he really thinks he can do it. He says he would tell her all about it, but the police are coming. Riza remarks that he seems different than usual, but regardless, next time the treasure is hers. She leaves and Roy has a moment where he reflects on her true identity and decides to have some fun with it.

The next scene shows that the Phantom Thieves have day jobs as reporters for the very same newspaper (return of glasses!Riza here). Their boss wants them to cover an event featuring the Eternal Chocolate Heart, but the viewing is only open to couples. Their assignment is to pose as lovers in order to write an article about the treasure. There is also something about alchemical research being revealed at the party and a competition for the alchemists to win the heart or something like that. Set up for the fighting portion of the event. Roy thinks to himself that this will be his next treasure hunt.

This is me joining the FMA OC train SDFGHJ LISTEN YES I AM ADDING A THIRD TO ROYAI WITH MY OWN OC BUT HEAR ME OUT-

SO! The quick idea of this guy is that he is an rogue Alchemist that distributes alchemical materials regulated by the state under the table. Originally Roy went to investigate him to arrest him but at the end they reached a deal of Artemi will help Mustang with operations he doesn't want the military to know >:3c

Now the thing about this bug of a man is that he looves learning, both alchemy and everything about people- Specially people, to a concerning degree SDFGH Idunno if stalker is the right word but he does fit someone who tries to find literally every piece of information on someone who he fixates on. Enter Colonel Roy Mustang, a particularly mysterious, high-ranking officer who holds one of the greatest accomplishments of Alchemy - Controlling fire- at his fingerprints AND HE- DOESN'T SHARE IT!! ROY THINK ABOUT THE ALCHEMICAL COMMUNITY AND OUR PROGRESS!!

This makes him start fixating and stalking Roy, trying to figure out how to get Flame Alchemy out of him and why he keeps it secret. Is not even out of malice is genuine curiosity and a bit of annoyance over someone keeping something secret from him LOL. This eventually leads him to Riza's hometown where he learns about a long-dead alchemist that never interacted with anyone else- Berthold Hawkeye. And finally having made the connection and realizing the key isn't Roy but RIZA it makes him even more obsessed. On her.

LIKE OMG! I ignored her just as another subordinate but she is the key! Kept right in his shadow! So clever! And it turns out is even HARDER to find things about Riza and her relationship with Alchemy. At this point he finds her more interesting that Roy because whatever the fuck is going on with her is so!! Entertaining for him to try and take apart <3

I think he would eventually figure out the alchemical formula is somewhere in Riza's body, and here is where the weird, third-party in the Royai ship bit comes from ASDFGH I mean, he might stalk and find everything about his subjects, but he is not a creep, he needs Riza to show him consensually! He also doesn't want to anger Roy, he likes the guy! So now he is trying to insert himself in their situationship so he can be in the cuck throne getting a good peek at that Flame Alchemy formula....

I WILL SAY he does really like them both genuinely and he doesn't want to hurt them, is just... whatever it is, it is not romantic or even sexual attraction is a weird third secret thing ASDFGHJKL I also want to explore some stuff with him like Royai's relationship with Alchemy and their own morals.... I AM ACTUALLY OBSESSED WITH THIS CONCEPT AND WHATEVER IS GOING ON IN HERE!!! I spin them in my brain

I do really want to do more stuff with him btw I am just. Not particularly motivated to draw or busy 😭But I would like to at least do more art of him! And maybe one day write a fanfic or something who knows... I just have a bunch of random scenes floating in my brain............

Tokyo Ghoul x Harry Potter x Fullmetal Alchemist prompt (1)

okay, so I’mma start throwing this here. This is a fic idea I might or might not end up writing fully, or if someone would be willing to help writing/be beta reader, do tell me. Anyway, here’s the little monster.

First, let’s incorporate HP & FMA!

• The Promised Day shenanigans weakened the barrier protecting the FMA continent till they break a few years after canon: the continent appearing out of nowhere create an uproar in both Muggle and Magical worlds. Because this Continent (without talking about the fact that it used to be protected by magic barrier) use alchemy, which is a form of magic, and all these countries are opening diplomacy with the Muggle without hiding the alchemy, so the idea that the Unplotable’s alchemy will end up causing the breach of the Statute of Secrecy.

• So wizards also enter in contact with the Unplotable countries to exchange about ties of their (very advanced) alchemy and magic, and to make sure the reveal of alchemy wouldn’t cause the reveal of the wizarding world.

• on FMA’s side, it’s like five to seven years post canon: Gal Mustang is competing with Gal Armstrong for next Furrer, Ling has become the crown prince but not yet emperor, he’s being weaseling cunningly in the Court while astutely keeping his father from actually getting to use the philosopher stone Ling brought back.

• Mustang and Ling lead allied diplomacy for Amestris and Xing facing the outside world embassies, with joint Eastern and Western alchemist prowesses. All that majorly thanks to Amestrian alchemist studying Eastern alchemy in Xing Alphonse Elric (who so happens to have close ties to both princess Mei Chang, and by extension crown prince Ling, and the Amestrian high military) being the ambassador and bridge between the two countries.

• Xing and Amestris get agreement with both Muggle and wizard Britain for scientific exchange. A team is sent to London to study Muggle technology (yeah, Winry is in there), tho part of it will secretly take the Hogwarts Express to exchange knowledge with the Wizards.

• So Mustang goes to Resembool to explain to Edward (married with one daughter, another kid on the way) that not only his wife is officially invited on the scientist team, but he too (unofficially) should come, because fucking wizards.

• the plan is that a team of experts of both Eastern and Western alchemy go to the magical school to exchange with the wizard teachers there on comparing wizard alchemy and theirs, and the ties of their science to magic, and they would hold a lecture for the magical students somewhen at the end of the year. The Hogwarts team would be Mei Chang and Alphonse mainly, with Ed too because even tho he can’t perform alchemy himself he’s still an expert on Western alchemy and a brain guy + Alex Louis Armstrong as a bodyguard for Ed.

• Also turns out there’s an event-tournament something at the school this year, so they can watch that to be wowed by the wizards, Mustang and Ling will come for the event too (for all task or only the last one).

• Ed ends up on babysitting duties while Winry is busy having the time of her life being a mechanic geek, so his daughter comes to Hogwarts too, on the (understandable) assumption that a school would be less dangerous than an industrial complex of a place to bring a child.

• for now, let’s leave the team in London at the Amestrian and Xinese ambassy, waiting for the 1st of September to take the train to the magic school.

Prompts Anyone?

So, I used to jot down random ideas I had in a notebook. I still try to do that, but now they exist moreso in my 'Writer's Junk' folder in the form of 'prompts.' Sometimes they are an actual prompt for an idea that I don't have a plot for, or sometimes it's just a reminder for me to remember what on Earth this idea was supposed to be. I've kept some of the prompts that have actually spiraled into full ideas, ones that are too confusing, and ones that I'm a little embarrased to share, but otherwise, here's a list of 'prompts' for anybody to use for any idea. (Mostly Megaman prompts, some Sonic, some FMA, and just a sprinkle of Zelda and Pokemon.) (They're also completely unedited, so there's some random typos here and there.)

-What if Link and Zelda had a kid and named him Zero?

-Lan is a Zorua

-Ad-liberation- In which Tomahawkman is the only one out of the loop concerning Dark Megaman and Liberation Missions

-In which Omega-Xis is turned into a human and has amnesia

-A world where Navis are the masters, and while humans are not mistreated, they have to do whatever the Navis tell them to

-Sonic story based off 'Be Somewhere'

-Lan and Chaud accidentally get the wrong Navis

-Reality altering device that looks like a butterfly and Lan (at first) is the only one who realizes the 'butterfly effect.'

-Hyrule Needs a Hero, and Sonic Just So Happens To Be One (amnesia included.)

-'Bad Ending' thing where Giro has 'died' but Model O saves him, but at the cost of Giro becoming completely dependant on the deranged Biometal

-Cross Fusion requires a bond, right? Chaud doesn't have the right kind with Protoman, so he's going to work on becoming the best friend he can be. Protoman is worried for his NetOp's health and safety.

-Copy X gets blasted to the BN with a disability, gets adopted by Tadashi, and Lan is unsure if Copy is his uncle or his brother.

-Copy X turns out sweet and innocent. Harpuia is yeeted to the throne, and the others have to deal with 'Mini X'

-Legend of Zelda/ Star Force crossover

-Geo and Lan are in the wrong time periods. Have the opposite partner

-X is holding Megaman's PET (I really don't know where this would go) (Let's try it anyways)

-Cyber Elf X except he's Hub

-Linked Universe but it's Mega Man

-Duo restores earth (animeverse) but at the cost of the CF members having to go with him throughout the galaxy, to 'find the light' on other planets. (So in other words, the captian has a crew that has to convince him not to blow up every planet he comes across.)

-Legends Arcues Zorua twins

-Pokemon except it's in the world of Mega Man Legends. Ash is a purifier unit, but of course has no clue and wants to go on a journey. Misty's got a boat, Brock's doing his Breeder thing, and it's basically Pokemon except in the year 80XX

-Sonic Prime but it's the characters' actual personalities

do you have any voice headcanons for Antares? how they talk, stuff like that?

Okay well here’s the characters that I think would keep the voices similar to what they have in show, because the performances given were excellent and really defined the character to me. The cadence, the tone, all that, these ones work well.

Winter, Ironwood, Tyrian, Watts, Salem, Hazel, Oscar, Ozpin, the Ace Ops are all solid, Robyn, Whitley, Sienna, Raven, Mercury, Vernal.

So here's the ones I'd mess with:

Ruby: I’d want to still have her sound light and innocent, but I’d definitely make her way less squeaky then she was in the show. A voice that can still have a bit of grit, if she needs it. I’m picturing something like Dani Phantom in Danny Phantom, or X-23 in x-men evolution (Andrea Libman’s version). Childish but able to get dangerous.

Weiss: definitely something posh but not necessarily snooty. She should have a very clear voice, one that’s clearly been through a million dictation lessons and speaks quite musically at that. Pick a soprano broadway singer, go from there.

Blake: I think she’d probably have the deepest voice of the main four girls? Not raspy, but resonant. Able to soften up, I picture something like Vi from Arcane or Korra from Legend of Korra.

Yang: Not as deep as Blake’s voice, but definitely with a bit of grit to it that gives her that tough vibe. Where Blake has resonance, Yang does have rasp. Sorta Ryuko Matoi-esque, or like Amethyst from Steven Universe.

Qrow: as much as I like Jason Liebrecht’s work I don’t think he works quite as well for Qrow, which is not anything against him just the voice doesn’t fit as much as I’d prefer. I’ve always felt Qrow should have a voice with a deeper register anyway, so I’d be picking a performance like Wolverine from X-Men Evolution, or Ghazan, Legend of Korra.

Sun: I really like Lego Monkie Kid and all the voice actors are great, I just can’t decide if Sun gets MK’s voice (younger, peppy, excited, also Sokka) or Monkey King’s (equally peppy, a little more deep, a bit tricksy, also Goku).

Ilia: I think Cherami Leigh’s voice acting is great (maybe she can be Blake?) but my Ilia is a bit younger and a lot softer so I’d want her to have more of a higher voice, to contrast Antares-Blake’s lower register. Something that still cracks, a bit like Luz from Owl House, mayhaps, or Marcy from Amphibia.

Summer: if any of you have watched Critical Role 3 Bells Hells and have listened to Ashley Johnson’s voice for Fearne, that’s it exactly. Really soft and breathy and gentle, really distinctive from the rest of the cast.

Tortuga: Tortuga had a very deep voice compared to the other Ace Ops, but not gravelly. Not quite on the levels of like, James Earl Jones, but more like Keith Davids in his Dr Facilier role, able to be quick but with gravitas.

Cinder: needs to be huskier, definitely able to have charisma behind it rather than risking sounding childish, or whiny. I picture something like Meg from Hades or Lust from FMA.

Jaune: I think he’d have one of the higher pitched voices of the male cast? Definitely a tenor, speaks fast and nervously, I picture kinda like Martin Blackwood’s voice from the Magnus Archives (I have no idea what anyone’s accents are and I don’t want to think about it), or Rocky from Lackadaisy.

Nora: super high pitched and nasally, but really sweet and cute nonetheless. I’d say kinda like, Molly from Epithet Erased, or Ivy, Lackadaisy again.

Pyrrha: I think she should have the most standard teenager voice? She deserves it, she deserves normal and not exceptional. I picture, like Gwen Stacy from Spiderverse, or Wendy from Gravity Falls?

Ren: a very subdued, almost monotone voice, its not necessarily particularly low or high, but could totally drop down to something very menacing if pushed. I’m thinking, like, a chilled out version of Percy from Vox Machina, with that same ability to go right down into a danger zone.

Emerald: what if we took Cherami Leigh's Ilia voice and just moved it here what then? Other options I think would suit her would be something like Miriam from Dragon Age (Kimberly Brooks is always a win)

Penny: If Nora was high pitched I think Penny should sound like a literal child, on account of Pietro really leaning into the 'innocent little girl' thing when he was downloading voice clips to make into her synthesizer- or, hear me out: Penny voiced by a vocaloid.

i will preface this with saying it's been about 5 years since i actually watched fma lmao so my concept of royai in general and canon may be (definitely is) skewed purely by my own self indulgence, delusions, and poor memory (for real, i read a fanfic once where they said grumman's first name was walter and i took that on board and for about 8 years thought that was his canon name 💀 i'm easily influenced hahaha) but who cares i'm thriving anyway so i'm happy 😌

idk when they each realised. i like to play about with that idea like toys in the sandbox lol so it chops and changes depending on my mood

they're both v professional obvs and hide their feelings well but sometimes roy gets a wee bit too into the role he ""plays"" while speaking to elizabeth and hears about it later. but he just shrugs and doesn't care bc how can he be sorry when he gets to pretend he's in love, or close to it at least, w elizabeth - not that there's any actual pretending hehehehehe

they end up becoming a dog family. all the pups. because it's what riza wants

realistically, would they have kids together?? hmmm ask again later but in my mind where there's 0 consequence and things are hand wavey yes 😌 need girl dad roy and mama hawk in my life

there is definitely a way they could play marriage between them and having a family strategically and politically and i've read some fab fics and thoughts where they do but i'm not clever enough to think anything up hahaha but i feel like they absolutely would in the canon world. it would suit them and their goals well if they did

Elricest 👀

Send me a ship and I'll give my brutal honest opinion on it!

Ohoho for elricest my opinion is that it's just. the quintessential incest ship. THE ship that got many people open to the idea of shipping siblings, not because they're siblings but because of the inherent deep bond they share, and how much they do just for each other.

I'd say that, with my first exposure to FMA, in the 2003, I did enjoy the tinges of more open bait for shippers, as it was customary of the time. Certain lines from Al about missing feeling Ed's body heat, not go mention what people call the elricest ending (which i sort of disagree with,but I'll address that in a second)

And I'll admit it , i avoided brotherhood for a long while because i was in nostalgic denial and I honestly didn't like the opening episode for FMA:B

I still say that starting us directly in the plot of Lior with the boys in the desert is a much, much better start and I commend FMA03 for that. Also I'm sad about the whole... Roze changing skin color thing. At that point in the series it's not the most widely known thing that ishvalans have darker skin generally ,(in FMA03, she has a similar shade of skin as Scar) , and she lives in the gotdamn dessert, (and she doesn't even have red eyes anyway). So why whiten her. Makes no sense to me and she looks...less easy on the eyes.

Anyway! I do believe FMA03 has some good points but once i got the brotherhood ball rolling it was unstoppable, it's just so much more complete and the lore is way,way better than I could ever figure from the older adaptation.

Now onto the ending thing, i know a lot of people who ship elricest like the 03 ending, with Ed and Al separared and reunited in ghe conquerer of Shamballa movie. But honestly? I don't like that ending at all, it feels, well. Rushed,which i guess it's directly true as it's a departure from canon in the manga.

The brotherhood ending,however. now that's the true elricest gold mine. Recovering Al's body, seeing him in the white space waiting for Ed, the trust. and the recovery period as well, Al being so frail, laying there, naked and cradled by his brother,finally in the flesh. The sacrifice,oh the MASSIVE sacrifice of Ed's gate, making him unable to use the skill hes most undoubtedly known for. The only rushed aspect of Brotherhood's ending to me is the Ed/Winry thing, it just feels so...clunky and odd, a confession for the sake of confession, to leave no open ends on who Ed is ending up with. Because not tying off that thread would open up to him ending together with Al. You don't even need to mention that Ed and Al love each other in a way nobody ever else could. Hell, in THE picture they had to include, with Ed's implied children, he seems closer to Al than to anyone else,in my opinion.

And that boils down how i feel about elricest. I think that they are the only logical conclusion to such a journey. The only reason they're not canon is that they're forcefully needed to be appealing to a straight audience (okay im pushing it a bit, but let me dramatic!)

Hi! So I'm going to catch up on the latest chapter of All The Hope asap, but do you mind sharing some of the inspirations and thought processes you had behind writing this story? :D

Sooo there are a number of thought processes I've gone through when writing this specific fic! I'll try to explain while being not too spoilery 😅

First, as I say in the notes of the fic, I had the idea of this because I had already written a fic where Roy didn't get healed after Promised Day and stayed blind, but in this one it was understood in the background that Grumman had pressured the other generals so he'd be able to keep him.

The result is a fic where, inbetween the lines, Roy has a LOT of pressure on himself, has to go through rehab and at the same time has to prove he can still be kept in the army - which means the frat laws still apply, and neither he nor Riza have much brain power left to try and address this, which makes for a weird power imbalance and Roy not knowing where he stands and what he wants out of the relationship (which. Is what backfires at the beginning, because, he in fact, knows very well, and what he wants is NOT nurse Riza 🙃). So the whole setting is different.

I still like this fic, and many things that happen in it, but it's pretty unrealistic even by FMA standards, lol (I also forgot to take into account that Havoc himself would need a lot of rehab before he comes back 😅), and I wanted to explore the other, more realistic option imo, that Roy wouldn't be kept in the army's ranks.

Because with Roy out of the army, so many things can actually work better.

Of course the obvious, and what Roy realizes himself in the first chapter, is that the frat laws don't apply. More on that later.

But there's also the fact that Roy, as a General (Grumman would definitely not leave him a Colonel after Promised Day at least in part because so many generals have died 😅), would have overseen Ishval's restauration from afar, and not be hands on. Because he'd have a lot of work, he'd probably be appointed to be the head of East Command at the very least (Grumman even talks about it in the manga), and while Roy this way can ensure there's enough funds and men and help going and he would have been far more able to pull money from the state and rich people of Amestris to fund the restauration, he would also be way too precious to be allowed to just roam around Ishval helping rebuild.

Basically, in post Promised Day Amestris, an able bodied General Mustang who wouldn't use alchemy much is far more precious to the army than an overpowered, but blind Roy. Not only do I like to pull the rug from under his feet because I'm just evil like that, I like how he's never been that powerful, and yet. While there's a lot of talk about how Amestris is pretty good at accepting disability (no meta from me there, I don't have much to say), it's stated plainly a couple of times that unless they can be fit with an automail, disabled soldiers are no use. See Havoc. Anyway that's the way I followed, because even with Grumman on top, the army stays the army, and the army is not a nice institution. At least Roy and Havoc got a pension 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don't think they could have expected much more.

So overall, politically speaking, having Roy stay in the army is interesting, but action wise a little less. Alchemy wise, too. Because I want Roy to use his new overpowered alchemy (he will !!! And not only to transmute tea, spoons and squeaky door hinges, lol)(this fic is very slow aaab I am sorry), and if he's not on the field or only as a last resort against some incredibly powerful enemy.... That's not of my interest. (Keep in mind that's just MY train of thoughts, lol, I am not dissing any fic that does that. I want to read them. Lol). And to be honest I don't see any other reason that just being kicked out where Roy would leave the army (in manga/BH. In 03 I have different ideas but this reply is already soooo long).

Another point is that I wanted to explore Royai as an established couple, but still stay within the lines of the original story. And here I have the perfect setting : no frat laws anymore, they needed each other to basically survive during and right after Promised Day, and I had them make this deal that if Riza helps Roy, she has to let him help her, too. In this fic, the result of Promised Day is that now they are codependent more than ever, and I wanted to explore that, how their relationship shifts but in the end stays the same, and how it helps them move on.

It's definitely NOT a sane way to recover IRL, I know lol, but I think for them there is no other way. Their lives are already so entwined, it couldn't work differently in this specific case.

Last but not least : I'm an angst monster. Taking everything from Roy and fucking up Riza? Yes please let me play with that 😈 How is someone as stubborn and ambitious as Roy going to deal with having his ambitions crushed, and his autonomy seriously hampered? How is Riza going to deal with what was basically her goal by procuration disappearing, and her job radically changing? How are they both going to go on? Together, of course. And as I had Roy say himself in the fic, maybe they can allow themselves that, even if it's temporary, because, well. They don't have much else left. And it's not hurting anybody so why not.

So with this as a (clearly not as defined at the time) base I went on and then the events just clicked.

However. I want to say a couple of things about this fic, more in a logistics way :

First, the number of chapters is a lie. I have hastily cut all the "conjoined" chapters I had in half to get a rough number, but in fact there are some chapters that I keep as one, some that I divided that I had not planned on dividing. So take the number of chapters as an indication that the fic is mostly written and almost finished, but it won't be 27 chapters for real. How many ? No idea lol. Probably more around 20 judging by how it's going.

Also. This fic is only the beginning of Roy and Riza's journey, be it together or to rebuild Ishval. It will end with the (nice!) big event that was already foreshadowed, leaving a lot to do still. But if I find the strength to write yet another crazy long fic, there will be a second part (ok uh. Second part is already 20K long and has a rough outline. I don't write linearly lol).

This whole fic btw is also there for two reasons : 1) considering I am (have been for YEARS) writing an original novel with a blind main character I just HAD to try and write blind Roy, couldn't pass on that, and 2) I have an incredible enabler in the person of @qs63 who just pushes me, gives me lots of inspiration, and reads all I write and is just so supportive, and who is a great writer herself - we even wrote a whole fic together, and it was A BLAST. This fic wouldn't be there without her because I didn't want to just write yet another blind Roy fic and she persuaded me the idea was good. And now I think it's one of the best I've been working on (with the one we wrote together, lol).

Edward accidentally becomes Furher

Silly idea that keeps coming back, where shit blows up, perhaps before the promised day, because political upheaval awaits no man/god/eldritch horror, or perhaps there is an invasion from some country, only it was done sneaky like, so a great deal of the brass has left central (perhaps for safer areas/or to actually fight in whatever war) but central is also under attack and the current highest ranking officers are majors alexander louis Armstrong and Edward Elric, now Armstrong in a goodman and an excellent soldier, but he does better with clear orders (and orders that don’t involve “kill everyone” would be nice) so when Ed shouts a random “hey Armstrong can you do such as such...” Armstrong obeys, because he has a clear direction, which means to the minds of many of the soldiers, that Ed, who is being his usual flashy self, is in charge and maria ross and Denny Brosh are on scene and they both keep calling him major elric and seem to also think Ed’s orders are for following, and in a scary invasion situation...the leader matters and having someone in a clear line of command and in charge is good and reassuring. 

So eventually, Mustang, who had been running things probably at the main part of the invasions hears about this and is both amused (take that fullmetal, you try being in charge!) and worried (are ed and al okay? they have armstrong at least...he knows they’ll do their best to keep central standing.

anyway, he ends up getting in communication with ed and by potential by passing a great deal of the chain of command they get the amestrian army actually organized to protecting the people of the country, repel invaders.

then of course, it’s court martial time...because “oh dear furher king Bradley died in the line of defense (cough he went up in a lot of fire cough) and a great many of the top brass were pretty much blatantly part of the invasion or had run away during it. 

So General Grumman is one of the few generals they actually have left and he does some quick promotions to actually have a tribunal council to charge the captured defectors and traitors. So Ed (who is hissing and spitting about it finds himself up to the rank of brigadier general (as he’d essentially served as one during the invasion on central no one argues) armstrong refuses a promotion though (ed whines that why can armstrong do that but he can’t but roy only pats him on the head) maria is raised to captain and denny is a 1st lieutenant now, Scheizka is a second lieutenant (she’d ended up as sort of Ed’s attaché) roy is a lieutenant general while grunman is furher at present. 

Only the hommunculi and father are not happy with events and try to push the promised day ahead and fail, though Grunman has a heart attack from age and stress, and roy is out of commission for awhile...

when he is finally fit for duty, Ed has been left as acting Furher (he didn’t want to run a damn country, he wanted to spend time with his now restored little brother Ed pretty much used father as equivalent exchange for Al.

Ed had tried to call Olivier armstrong down to be acting furher but she “would melt in she left briggs” according to her. 

Mustang could take command, but Ed has a better reputation that him and the goal was to de-corrupt the military and Ed is never going to be “corrupt” so... he happily takes his place as Lieutenant general again in support of Furher Elric. (Ed is never going to forgive this ultimate offense) 

of course ed does a good job (who are you calling so short and dumb he can’t even reform a country and start leading it towards demilitarization!!?)

(now if only the emperor of xing and the furher-president of amestris could stop having food fights during diplomatic dinners...)

FMA/PJO crossover!!!!

ok this is gonna sound rlly dumb but. au where, for whatever reason, edward elric ends up in the labyrinth. maybe it's during the promised day, maybe it's afterwards.

If it's after, Ed gets to keep his alchemy. he had picked up on something a little weird a while ago; unnaturally fast healing, vague premonitions. Things that would be hard to pick up on if you didn't spend your life fighting. Or in the military, but whatever. So, instead of his alchemy, he offers...whatever those weird things were.

Now, in Olympus, because this occurs during Battle of the Labyrinth, one of the gods is immediately alerted to something weird with one of their descendants. But it's in, yknow, Amestris, where Zeus had strictly forbidden their entry. Hidden continent and whatnot.

Anyway, Ed enters the Labyrinth, and he's...functionally mortal. he can navigate it pretty well, except for the fact that it is seriously fucked. Like, why couldn't it be like the rest of the tunnels under Central and just...stay the same! It's seriously fucking with his head!

So, Ed, in the Labyrinth, has no way to get home. He pops into a corridor and there's people. Two kids, a few years younger than him. And one has a sword.

Right. He can do this. So, he approaches them. Y'know, all casual like. And immediately stiffens. Because there is a chimera, and it is right there, and he. He just moves. He tackles the black-haired one, and transmutes a spear to fight the chimera with, when the blonde haired one stabs it with....a knife? Whatever happens, it bursts into golden dust and Ed is...shaken. He stands up, offering his hand to the black-haired kid, who he helps up. "What was that? It looked like a chimera of some kind, but chimeras don't usually explode into dust." Right, that's a good idea. Get information, and act from there.

"That was a hellhound. I'm not sure what kind of chimeras you've met but that certainly wasn't one." Blondie, and honestly, he should ask for their names, wipes their knife, which is covered in that dust, on their shirt and sheathes it.

"A fucking what? And why do you have a knife? Or a sword, for that matter?"

Black-haired kid seemed close to bursting, and blondie nudged them to talk.

"What was that, with the spear? Is it like Riptide? Or do you just have some weird ability? Annabeth, what do you think it was?" Ok, Blondie is named Annabeth. Ok. That helps.

"Percy, I don't know, but we should take him to Chiron. Whoever this is, he clearly has some kind of experience with monsters, and with that ability of his...I don't want Luke getting his hands on him." And Black-haired one is Percy. Got it.

"Um. My name's Edward Elric, if that helps? If you take me to this...Chiron, I can try calling my brother?"

"Then let's go. We entered through...here, I think." Annabeth reached up, pulling her body through a small hole in the rocks, before pulling Percy and Ed out.
