anyway killer staying and putting effort into a relationship with horror and murder because he thinks they’re interesting and intriguing and intellectually stimulating even if he doesn’t get emotionally attached or in love with them as people is a valid form of love yippee killer does not need to emotionally care in a way others understand to be an attentive and loyal if very distant partner. And he does not need to “learn emotions” to do so.

like in this scenario they are literally his source of the closest thing he gets to feeling anything other than boredom and apathy in a world he feels is unreal and unattainable for him and controlled by the whims of higher beings—without stage 1’s involvement—which he finds deeply threatening and unsafe and causes him immense distress, overwhelming pain, identity disturbance, and dissociative confusion, and always comes with a risk of trying to kill himself— and even if it’s a fleeting moment that doesn’t mean it wasn’t real.

and even if he eventually loses interest (because in the end horror and dust don’t really offer him or make him feel anything new, just something and were a nice way to pass the time via being so fascinating and he truly appreciates them for that) and moves on that’s okay, as would be any way horror and dust felt about that.

that happens with every form of relationship sometimes, that people just lose interest and leave. it’s normal. It’s natural. it doesn’t mean he never cared, even if in his own way. the fact he’s even bothering to maintain the relationship at all and allowing them to get a little close or even sharing his inner world and life with them willingly says a lot.
